Numb3rs s05e12 Episode Script
Jacked
Welcome to Hollywood, folks.
Please, watch your step when you get up on the bus.
Breaking a leg here does not mean good luck.
This blows.
At least the hotel had video games.
You've shot enough mutants today.
-This is going to be fun.
-What can you do? How you doing, buddy? Put a smile on that face.
Hope your AC's working.
Better in the back.
Nice shirt.
I like that.
Hi.
Welcome to Hollywood.
Hey.
Whoa! You all right there, buddy? I said, watch your step.
-Little too much partying last night, huh? -Oh, yeah? What, he got his whole suitcase in there? Oh, we're staying at a hostel downtown.
We don't want anyone walking away with our stuff.
All right, have a good time, have a good time.
Put your stuff up in the racks up top.
Hi.
How are you? I hope you brought your cameras.
The next two hours, we are gonna hit all the hot spots, people.
We're gonna see Sunset rip, Walk of Fame, tour of the stars' homes, and an excursion down Rodeo Drive, and that, people,is for the very attractive lady in the lavender sweater in the back.
All right, who's having fun? Are you having fun? All right, don't have too much fun now.
Sit back, relax, have a beverage Is your friend okay? Yeah, he's fine.
He doesn't like crowds.
old Roy here gets ten percent.
I take checks.
Take a look over on your right side.
It's our first stop.
It's the world-famous Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars.
Go! All right, everybody, just stay calm.
Keep your eyes forward.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! And shut up! Driver, you just keep driving.
Just keep driving.
Do not look at us.
Keep your eyes forward.
My associate is coming down the aisle.
I want you to put all keys, wallets, cameras, cell phones, everything into the bag.
If it's our money you want, take it.
What? Did I say you could talk? We don't want your money.
You don't need to do that.
What are you gonna do about it? You gonna stop me? Huh? I don't think so.
You shut up.
Everybody, shut up! Do not speak unless you're spoken to.
All right, driver, turn off the AC.
Turn up the heat.
-And make a next right down the alley.
-What are you looking at, huh? Dispatcher received a panic button call 20 minutes ago from one of the company's sightseeing buses.
Now, they radioed the driver.
Guy's not responding.
With a busload full of missing tourists, they called us.
Agent Don Eppes, this is, uh, Len Walsh.
Hey.
How you doing? I've been better.
I'm the head of security for HollywoodLine Tours.
I ally appreciate you coming.
So, what can you tell me? Nothing really, except,we've got smart-VIT, vehicle immobilization technology.
-It's a GPS-based anti-hijacking software.
-Uh-huh.
They're designed to stop a bus remotely.
Right.
After 9/11, we installed it in all of our buses to prevent terrorists from stealing one and turning it into a weapon.
From here, they can access the bus's onboard computer, hit the kill switch, shut it down remotely.
All right, good.
So, how long does this take? Well, we're ready now.
They're on 4th going east.
All right, stay close now,all right? GPS is feeding us real-time data.
Looks like they're heading downtown.
Well, somebody's trying to make a statement.
They've picked the perfect place.
You got City Hall, financial district, half a dozen schools, churches, synagogues.
It's max headlines and casualties.
Let's go.
Let's get everyone moving, all right? Still heading east, approaching Union.
SWAT's here.
My units are rolling.
-What have we got here? -I'm in.
SWAT units,move into position.
Prepare to intercept at Cahuenga tunnel.
Roger that.
Stand by.
We're ready to hit the kill switch.
All right, kill it.
He's slowing down, Don.
What's going on? Why did it stop? They've overridden the system.
I'm I'm locked out.
I can't stop it.
It's picking up speed.
They're gonna blow right through 'em! Get the hell out of there! Go! Go! Back down! Go! Colby, you stand down.
SWAT's got it.
??One of our vehicles has eyes on the back of the bus.
Switchboard.
There's a guy asking for the lead agent in charge, line one.
This is Eppes.
Who's this? We want $18 million.
And you can tell that guy next to you works at the bus company to call his banker.
You have until 7:00.
That gives us four hours.
-Oh, man.
-Oh, my God.
-Oh.
-What's that smell?? Oh, dear.
What is that? The malodor seems to be emanating from the dining room.
Yes, yes, yes.
Hold on, hold on.
Excuse me.
Ah, no.
That's not the only place it's coming from, Dad.
-You smell like -Cow manure puree? Ah.
I know, it's, uh it's bad.
??Yeah, I had to move it inside.
The neighbors were complaining.
The road to progress is paved with naysayers.
Progress? I'm doing research for our think tank.
I read about this project at MIT.
Engineers added cow manure to a bucket of charcoal.
The idea was to generate enough electricity to power a cell phone for almost a year.
Well, you didn't use our blender to do this, did you? Oh, Charlie, please.
As much as I applaud your endeavor here, I don't think that this falls within the purview of our intended enterprise.
Meaning? Scientific method is based on theoretical inquiry, followed by brute force experimentation.
I fear that we are putting the laboratory of the lae before the laboratory of the mind.
Yeah, I think if we're going to improve the world, we should work from the ground up, hmm? You're the team leader, Charlie? What do you think? No? Okay.
Sorry.
Hey, Don.
Yeah, I'll be right there.
Okay, now, if we just turn So, we're keeping eyes on the bus.
I mean, where is the guy headed, you know? Nowhere.
It just keeps looping around downtown.
Right.
For what? I mean, he's smart enough to beat the bus company's system.
He's got to have something.
Did we figure out how he overrode the kill switch yet? I'm waiting on Charlie.
Based on the analysis, I'd say they defeated the anti-hijacking system the old-fashioned way.
-And what's that? -They hacked in.
When we installed smart-VIT on our buses, we were told that it was unhackable.
Nothing's unhackable, and the truth is, you know, you gave them the key to the front door when your tech Jeff accessed the system.
They were waiting, they tapped into the bus's onboard computer.
They were ready to steal the PIN password with a decryption algorithm.
All right, that's how they got in.
How did they lock us out? They changed the password.
They altered the PIN.
Well, the question is, can we get back in? I mean, can we stop the bus? Yeah.
Like I said, anything can be hacked.
Just let me go talk to Amita.
This is a number theory problem.
Well, you got three and a half hours.
Think he can pull it off? Well, if not, we'll go to Plan B.
What's that? I'll let you know when I know.
Don, line one.
It's our guy.
All right.
Put on the speaker.
This is Eppes.
I see cops in my rear-view.
You really think we wouldn't follow you? What's the status of the money? We're working on it.
Oh, let me guess.
You need more time.
Four hours isn't enough.
Yeah, well, it's a lot of cash you're asking for.
Let me make one thing clear, okay? For every minute past 7:00, I will kill one hostage.
Of course, the priceer head goes down, too.
If the company wants to negotiate down to zero, that's their decision.
Okay, I'll let them know, but you got to give me something.
?? That's right.
Hold this.
Come here.
Come here.
No.
Please.
Come here.
Talk to him Talk to him! Come on.
I've got a son.
Give 'em what they want.
Give 'em what they want.
You have until 7:00.
This guy is reading fr our playbook.
I hope Plan B is good.
You're never gonna believe this.
We've got eyes in the bus.
Oh, yeah? So, ere are we getting this from? Miami PD.
There's a guy on the bus named Jack Shuler.
Miami narcotics.
He's on vacation.
Well, he picked the wrong bus, huh? Ten minutes ago,he made a video call from his cell phone to his squad, started streaming a live feed.
Guy's got guts.
Images are degraded.
It's slowing down facial recognition.
What was that thing that Charlie did with the You remember, the face in the mirror? Diffeomorphic matching? Nice.
I pay attention.
We're using it.
And as soon as we got faces, we'll run 'em against fed and local databases.
And obviously, the bus company, too, right? So, you're thinking someone in this crew knows more than they should about the company's anti-hijacking system? -Everything all right? -Yeah.
I'm just supposed to fly to Denver tomorrow to meet with the ADIC there.
Well, for what? Supervisor.
Organized crime unit.
-They're looking to fill the post by the end of the month.
-Huh? It's a huge opportunity.
I'm gonna go find Walsh and let him know we're gonna need his company files.
This hacker knows what he's dog.
??128-bit encryption key.
He's definitely not making our lives easy.
??Perhaps an application of Shor's algorithm might be in order here.
Yeah, well, that's next if this doesn't work.
Am I interrupting anything? Just attempting to rescue a busload of tourists being held at gunpoint by four men demanding $18 million.
That's all.
Unfortunately, he's not joking.
Clearly, you have more pressing matters, but I just wanted to mention that I stopped by Galuski's engineering class for a chat, and, uh, he's on board with the cow manure fuel cell idea.
Okay, well, I had a similarly spirited discussion with Brecker in astrophysics.
He suggested we better model our efforts after Paul Davies'Cosmic Think Tank at Arizona State.
Well, that's a bit head-in- the-clouds, don't you think? What, as opposed to poo on the table? Guys, this isn't the time.
We got a hit off your employee database.
Phil Craypo.
Mechanic, terminated three months ago for using drugs on the job.
Does he know about the smart-VIT system? Man takes buses apart and then puts them back together.
He knows enough.
File says you're the one who fired him.
I fire a lot of people when they don't do their jobs.
Excuse me.
Uh, this is Caitlin Dawes.
Her fianc ?? Jack Shuler.
Works for Miami PD.
Why don't you just tell us how you found out.
Well, uh,Jack texted me.
He told me he was gonna find a way to get word to the FBI.
Is he okay? You know, we can't really discuss an open case; I'm sorry.
I understand.
Is there anyone you can stay with? Jack and I are on vacation.
We're in L.
A.
for the day.
We're supposed to get married this weekend in Vegas.
This morning, I told him I didn't want to go.
I hate touristy crap.
It's gonna be okay -right? -Warner.
Charlie's hacked the hack.
Hey, so They're heading toward Van Nuys Airport right now.
Escape plan, maybe.
Helicopter, small plane.
We have Charlie on videoconference.
Oh, hey, Charlie, we good? I'm ready.
Just say the word.
Okay, the most direct route is this access road right here.
If can stop them there, isolate them, maybe the snipers can get a good look.
-All right, good,so tell Colby and King to meet me there, all right? -Okay.
Charlie, I'll see you later.
Yeah, later.
What are you looking at, huh? Get up, get up.
Come on.
Get him down here.
Get him down here.
Sit down, sit down.
Sit down here.
Sit there.
Keep an eye on him here.
Keep an eye on him.
Looks like David's hunch was right.
They're coming right to us.
My boys are set.
Snipers are in position.
We're good to go, fellas.
Don.
He's on line one.
All right, put it through.
Eppes.
?? sounds like you're outside.
What, are you taking a lunch break? What's on the menu? Whatever you want.
Four duffel bags, equal splits.
no new bills, and no consecutive serial numbers.
And no little surprises inside the duffel bags.
Okay, where do you want it? You'll know soon enough.
Okay, here they come.
Any luck, we end this thing right now.
Okay, I'm in.
Don, we got to hit that kill switch.
Charlie? We gotta pull the kill switch, Don.
You better get out of there.
Pull it.
Charlie, pull the switch! What are you doing, Eppes? We need to talk.
No, you need to listen! Back off.
Restart the engine or you're gonna hear a sound that you'll never forget.
You hear that, huh? Stop, stop! Please, no! How many, Eppes, huh? Turn around! How many is acceptable to you, Eppes, huh? Two, seven? Is it gonna be ten? Zero-- we got to take the shot.
We don't have a visual.
Well, give me one minute.
My guys will get thermal.
We don't have a minute.
I don't hear anything I don't hear anything! I'll take that as an answer.
All right! I'm a cop! All right? I'm worth more to you than anyone else here.
Take me.
I got one of your own, Eppes.
I got a cop.
?? Just sit down.
We got a cop on board.
You feel safe? All right, hold on.
hold on.
Let's just relax.
Let's just slow things down, okay? You give me my bus, or I give you a body bag.
Well, it's gonna take us some time to restart it.
I'm not stupid.
No, I know that.
I want those people alive.
You want your money.
We both have a stake.
I just need some time.
How long? I got to get someone working on it.
You got an hour.
And so does he.
Hey, where are you going? To talk to my boss.
You're going to advise him to pay? Anything happens on that bus, it's on me.
I want those 18 people to go home to their families.
Listen, so do I.
We don't know anything about these guys.
Say we let the bus go, you guys pay up.
Who's to guarantee they won't kill them anyway? As long as we have eyes on the bus, those people have a chance.
And what if this turns into Waco? If we're gonna insert, we're gonna have to take them out first.
Well, does anyone ?? That's a negative.
No, they got the heat cranked up, that low-level jamming to kill eavesdropping.
So, we're flying blind.
You know, last time, your brother did some pretty serious magic with thermal signatures.
Think he's got anything in his bag of tricks for this? So, what do you think? I think world peace has a better chance at happening in 60 minutes.
It's more like 54.
No pressure.
These guys have covered their bases here.
They they have the edge.
We have an edge they don't know about, Charlie: the video.
Yeah, that's true.
Maybe I could use a Voxel-based 3-D capture.
I created a CAD program for the architecture department last year.
It allows designers to see what a space will look like from different angles, using different floor plans.
Now, as the observer and the objects move around, the CAD algorithm calculates light, shadow and perspective.
Working backwards, those same elements can provide the exact measurement of an object's location down to the millimeter.
So, I could use the streamed video and the, uh the bus manufaurer's specs, and I could run a CAD program on the bus's interior.
So, the bus becomes the room.
And the bad guys, the furniture in it.
And that algorithm should give the snipers the targeting data they need.
All right, do it.
Suppose it's no use asking.
It was a mistake coming down here.
If I were in your shoes, I would have done the same thing.
It's not like I don't know the drill.
Watching them go out the door, knowing that may be the last time you see them.
Two days away from getting married.
Do you think I'll ever be a cop's wife? We're doing everything we can.
Shut out, no communication.
All we got is this crap video from this guy's cell phone.
I say, as soon as Charlie's ready, we go in a we take him out.
We can't, not till we know what he's after.
He's got guns on 18 people, holding us up for 18 million bucks.
What more do you need to know? I'm with Don on this one.
It doesn't make any sense.
We don't know what the endgame is.
It always ends the same.
They ask for a police car, they ask for a chopper, escort to the airport.
The longer we wait, the more time we give them.
We take the shot, everybody goes home.
Yeah, well, what if they don't? Look, we're waiting.
We're waiting.
All right, fine, you make the call.
We all got to live with it.
Yeah, my call.
How is it going? I'm almost there.
You know the situation is deteriorating, right? My 3-D capture will be done in time.
No, I'm talking about Larry and Alan.
I just saw them nearly come to blows at the cafe.
Look, I realize that we have bigger issues right now, but you do get that at some point, you yourself are gonna have to step in.
They're grown men.
Just because they're not acting like it.
.
Means you have to.
Look, Charlie, we both know that Larry is depressed about the CERN collider and the freeze on our Higgs research.
And your dad well, he's just being your dad.
Well, I'm not gonna take sides on it.
Who elected me team leader anyway? They did.
Don't look at me.
I voted for myself.
Bull's-eye.
All right, I got IDs on the rest of our crew.
Craypo, the mechanic, you already know about him.
Our alpha is John Buckley.
He's pulled mostly high-end robberies, jewelry store heists, bank jobs.
Next up is Andrew Hays.
Drug-runner.
He worked as a pilot for the Colombians.
There you go.
There's the airport theory.
And our hacker is Victor Kirov.
Now, he's one of the best.
Aside from being caught, he's top-notch.
Good news: none of these guys has a history of violence.
Bad news is there's always a first time.
Any idea how these guys are connected? Well, they're not, Don.
I mean, their arrest records read like a travelogue, all over the country.
Haven't been able to find a common denominator.
With a crew like this, these guys, they don't hook up over MySpace.
What about Charlie? What's he got? I spoke to him about five minutes ago.
He told me he was working out the last of the bugs on the sniper map.
Looks like he figured it out.
I'll call you guys back.
Relax, people, relax! Only a few of you are going to die today! Only a few of you! Yeah, the program's booting up.
We're ready, Don.
All right, let's light them up.
Oh, stop your crying, people! All right, I got number one.
Sierra Alpha, copy that? What's your problem? Huh? No problem, right? I didn't think so.
Come on.
Sierra Alpha has the shot on perp #1.
Hey,on, Don! Yeah, I see him.
Your hour is up.
We just need some more time.
Sorry to hear that.
You just want more time to work whatever angle it is you're trying to work! Sierra Charlie has the shot on perp #2.
That's not true; we just want to give you what you want.
You're prolonging the situation, trying to make me think I am in control, when actually, I am in control.
Sierra Delta has the shot on perp #3.
Five minutes, that's all I'm asking.
Five minutes? What are you planning,Eppes, huh? Sounds to me like you're getting ready to insert.
We gotta do this, Don.
-We gotta go! -All right, Charlie, where we at? Yeah, he's moving and I can't get a lock.
What makes you think you can pull it off, Eppes? You're blind.
We gotta pull the trigger.
Not there yet.
Unless you're not.
You son of a bitch! I told you I was gonna kill a cop.
Well, guess what?! I'm doubling down! Grab Mama.
Grab her.
Wait, wait, wait! He's gonna kill her.
He knows what'll happen.
Grab her! Get up! Get up! get up! Come on, come on, come on.
Charlie?! Oh, and, uh by the way, tell the bus company that you just got them a discount! Wait! I put it up there.
The FBI had nothing to do with it.
All right, I got him! I got him! You couldn't help yourself, could you?! Guess what? Sierra Bravo has the shot on pp #4.
-Take the shot.
-Take the shot.
Take the shot! Can we get this off of me, please?! What happened? The bus is empty.
What? No, no, no, no.
W-wait, wait They forgot the ground wire.
They're watching us.
Wrong bus, Eppes.
Did you really think I'd let a cop sneak video out right under my nose? I'm in control now.
?? So, tell me what happened.
After they took over the bus, they made me drive into this alley.
There was another bus there waiting, and that'where they transferred the passengers.
They knew about the panic button.
They put that mb belt on me, and then they told me to push it, told me to send a distress signal.
They wanted us to follow you.
You know, the only time we didn't have eyes on them was those first few minutes.
And they gave me that headset to radio me instructions.
Right, send us on a wild-goose chase.
You know, they could be anywhere by now.
I mean, that guy totally played us.
And killed a cop.
Trying to tell us he's in the driver's seat and can't be stopped.
Don, you made the right call, I mean, you could've never known.
If I hadn't called for the shot, he wouldn't have pulled the trigger.
You can't be inside the guy's head.
That's my job.
The second bus was stolen from the company's repair yard last night.
These guys planned everything.
They didn't plan on a cop coming on board.
What do I tell his fiance? Tell her that he died, uh, doing his job and, uh, beyond that You want me to do it? No, I should.
Line one.
It's him.
Agent David Sinclair.
Sinclair, where's Eppes? He's taking a leak.
What do you want? Well, now that you spent the past two hours chasing your tail, getting a cop killed, it's time to get down to business.
You've got 90 minutes.
You said we had till 7:00.
Well, you've lost a hostage and a half an hour.
He's moving the goalposts.
What now? We gotta move them back.
Clearly he's keeping us off balance.
All right, the diversion tactics and the shifting deadlines and the threats.
It's classic.
It's perfect for an Inverse Game Theory Analysis.
I think I missed that day in school.
-You play poker? -Yeah.
All right, so this is a poker game.
Two players, each dealt a finite number of cards from a finite deck.
Now, just like the FBI has a finite number of tools at its disposal; the kidnappers have a finite number of bargaining chips.
And right now, they have the advantage.
You see, they've studied our procedures and our tendencies.
So, they know our hand.
And they are going to play accordingly.
However, what they don't know is that the more they play, the more they reveal their own game.
Giving us a clearer picture of their decision-making process.
So, by analyzing the kidnappers' moves modeling their strategy, you know what, I may be able to level this game.
Yeah, except this isn't a game.
Look, I've already lost one hostage, okay? Next time the phone rings, I'm doing the talking.
Jack was a hero.
You need to know that.
Maybe someday that'll make it easier, but right now I can't go back to that hotel room see his things.
I can send someone with you.
Do you think I could juststay here another hour or two at least until I get my feet under me.
Yeah, sure.
Sure.
Let me get you some more tea.
Bag this and send it to the lab.
Put a rush on the prints.
-It isn't making sense.
-What isn't? The kidnappers' game play.
They're like streaky poker players, They go on a run and then they suddenly go cold.
They're making mistakes an amateur would make.
Well, maybe we're overestimating them.
No, we're missing a variable.
Alan, we're just not getting anywhere.
You don't have to tell me! We've been having the same discussion for the last 20 minutes.
-You're not listening.
-Hey, guys.
Stop it, all right? It's getting out of hand.
Start acting like adults, please.
What are you talking about? We're engaged in a very discourse here.
Yeah, about whose idea makes more sense.
No, no, no, we've been having a discussion about the merits of each other's ideas.
And Alan and I each decided to concede, and of course, that became a new point of contention.
Hey, you know, we could do a think tank on that.
"Eppes-Fleinhardt Paradox.
" "Fleinhardt-Eppes.
" Wait a minute Did you just trick me into taking second position? It's like the time that Bugs Bunny tricks Daffy Duck into declaring "duck season" by declaring "rabbit season.
" And then Elmer Fudd shoots Daffy Duck and his beak spins arod It was really very funny.
Am I alone here? -It is a paradox.
-What is, Charles? The kidnappers.
The mistakes they're making aren't mistakes.
Because they're making them on purpose.
I gotta go.
Is it me, or did our think tank just have its first breakthrough? I tracked down Jack Shuler's partner in Miami.
Never heard of a Caitlin Dawes, let alone a fianc real name's Caitlin Rienzi.
Series of collars for fraud, one of them an identity theft scheme, stealing houses from retirees.
The guy running the scam was our ringleader, Buckley.
She's in on it.
Watching our every move, stepping out to make calls to Buckley to keep him in the loop.
How'd you put it all together? Most grieving widows want to get out of here as fast as they can.
She wanted to stay.
What, so she could see if we'd pay the ransom? What do you want to do? Oh, I think we should let her stay.
Keep eyes on her.
Hey.
I found our crew's connection.
Let me guess:Walsh.
No.
Take a look at this.
Craypo, Hays,Kirov, Buckley.
Four years ago, they were all swept up in a series of drug raids.
Part of a RICO investigation of the Cuban cartel.
But they were all busted in different cities.
And interviewed at different times.
One of the guys doing the interviews was a narcotics detective TAD'd to the feds.
From Miami PD.
-No way.
-Yeah.
Buckley's the brains, but Shuler put this crew together.
Shuler's the one who sent us the video.
He was trying to stop these guys.
I know, but I'm thinking maybe he had second thoughts.
You know, Buckley starts pointing a gun at a woman small child, maybe the cop in him comes out.
Yeah, guess again.
I've been struggling with my own model of the kidnappers' strategies here.
These inconsistencies in their otherwise high level of play.
And then it occurred to me: that cheaters only cheat by making it seem like they're not cheating.
What do you mean? Well, they showed us their hand.
But only the cards that they wanted us to see.
Think about it: the driver hitting the panic button, the obvious route to the airport, these "mistakes" that we thought we were capitalizing on-- it was all a cheat.
It was staged.
And ey saved the best show for last.
The video.
Slow that last part down.
Frame by frame.
Look at that.
The shots are out of sync.
The bullet hits are popping before the gun even fires.
You've got to be kidding me.
Buckley's firing blanks.
And the bullet hits were fake.
Let's go back.
Run it again.
Punch in for me right here.
Down here Yeah.
There it is.
The tech geek must have rigged up these phony blood hits, and he's triggered them remotely.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, streaming video, murdering of a cop-- ?? So, the girl's in on it, too? Yeah, they wanted insurance.
Confirmation we were taking the bait.
At least I don't have a dead cop on my conscience.
Yeah, but they're still holding They haven't killed anyone yet, but that could change if we don't give them what they want.
No, I'm not so sure about that.
I mean, consider the game they're playing here.
Every single step of the way, they've demonstrated a marked inclination toward nonviolence.
In fact, they've gone out of their way not to kill anyone.
You're right.
Bomb belt-- that was a dud-- and Shuler's death was a fake.
It's consistent with their rap sheets: no history of violence.
I think that they'd like us to think that they're capable of killing, but You don't think they are.
I think illusion's their weapon.
Oh, wait.
You're not seriously suggesting that we?? We can't take that chance,Charlie.
We don't have to.
The dynamic has shifted here.
They've shown us their cards-- including the ones they never wanted us to see.
So we have the edge right now.
You ready? Yeah.
Uh, this is, uh, Len Walsh, the head of security,HollywoodLine Tours.
It's about time.
Where's Eppes? ??the FBI to take a step back.
Oh.
So, um, you're the boss now? Okay, boss, there's been a little change in plans.
I want the money wired to an account in the Caymans.
I just e-mailed instructions to your office.
Okay.
As soon as I get confirmation that the money's been sent, I will send another message with the location of the hostages.
Let's just all play nice.
Then we can go home and let the cop's family bury a body.
Listen, uh,how do I know you'll keep your side of the bargain? The one thing you can count on is if I don't get the money by 6:30, -this kid -No.
Oh, please! is not going to have a mother.
Shut up! shut up! All right.
Now we wait.
It's me.
I just left the FBI.
Making arrangements to wire the money.
UhJack's here.
We'll be at the safe house in an hour.
You look good for a dead guy.
A share of 17 million has a healing effect.
What's wrong? Oh, there's the happy couple.
The bus for Vegas just left.
You want to die twice in one day? You're going to tell us where that bus is.
All right, bus is inside, same deal as before: windows are painted, so we got no visual.
There's three bad guys with guns on the outside on the perimeter.
Looks like Buckley and the hostages are still inside the bus.
What's the call, Don? What are we doing? Now we've got five minutes till he calls.
You guys take the rogue guards.
Copy that.
What about Buckley? I got him.
Yo, give me 20 bucks.
What, are you going out for cigarettes? Just give me 20 bucks.
What time is it now? Watch better be right.
What the hell? Turn around.
He's calling.
All right, put it through here.
Eppes.
What happened to the bus guy? Did he get fired? Game over.
You're surrounded.
Kirov? Hays? Craypo, where are you? Come in.
Come in.
Come in.
I think it's time you and I got down to business.
-Oh, really? -You and me.
Get down to business? What the hell do you think I've been trying to do?! You got no way out, pal.
I got no way out? Really? Well, I think you're wrong.
As a matter of fact, I know you're wrong.
All right, everybody get up! Up on your feet.
Let's go.
Back up! Get up! Let's move! Let's go! Get out! I have eyes in the back of my head.
Let's go! Everybody move! Nice work, Eppes.
You got us a visual.
Stay there! Stay there! Get down! Come here, come here, come here, come here.
Right, right here.
Right here!Let's go! Right in front of me! Right here! Right here! -No one take a shot till I say.
-?? Hurry up! Don't move! I'll shoot you! I'll shoot you! Come on! Let's go! Get down! Back your guys off, Eppes.
Me and her are going to drive out of here.
No way.
Not going to happen.
Oh, it's going to happen.
How many more people you wanto see die, Eppes? You're not killing anybody.
Listen up,all of you.
I want you to slowly step away, one by one.
As soon as you're clear, make your way to one of us, and you'll be safe.
Do not walk away! Are you nuts? Come on.
I will shoot the first person who tries.
He's not going to shoot anybody.
He killed a cop.
We saw him.
They dragged him off the bus.
Who? This guy? Come here.
Guys,bring him in.
-That's not -It's all show, people.
Those are blanks in his gun.
I promise you.
Walk away.
He will not hurt you.
Do not do not walk.
Do not walk away.
Do not walk away! Do not walk away! Get back.
Come on.
The way you go.
Don't run! Don't run! No! No! Hey! Get back here.
-Get back here.
Get back here.
-!No! No!Todd! No! No! -I will kill her!I will kill her! -Todd! No! Get back here! Put that gun down.
I'm warning you put the gun down.
Why would I put the gun down? 'Cause the longer you stand there, the odds are one of these guys are gonna blow your head off.
Put the gun down! I'm not All right.
All right, I'm putting it down.
Nice and easy.
I'm putting it down.
Put it on the ground,slowly.
Turn around Put your hands All right! All right! All right! All right! All right! All right.
All right.
All right.
Yep, they're blanks.
Charlie was right.
-Hey.
-Hey.
Liz took off.
Yeah.
Denver.
You think she's going to take the job? I don't know.
We'll know soon enough.
I swear I thought I got that guy killed.
No.
You kept your focus.
You're a good leader.
Nobody died today.
Just got to have a little faith.
Yeah.
I'm trying, brother.
Well, looks like I'm late for the party.
Beer and champagne-- it's a little overkill, don't you think? Well, it's symbolic of Amita's brilliant solution to the think tank controversy.
Which is? JPL's looking for a team to consult on the next generation planetary rover.
Key to exploring the fundamental questions: How'd the world come to be? Why are we here? What's our destiny? Also criticalto advancements in robotics, search and rescue missions, oil and gas exploration, surgery, I mean, you name it.
Rabbit season/duck season.
Who says you can't have both? -You good with this? -Uh, yes.
You? I like it.
This your idea? That's right.
Appropriate given that she's the new team leader.
Since when? This afternoon.
I enlisted Brecker and Galuski in engineering a coup.
So with me and Amita, the voting majority has spoken.
And wisely, I would say.
Well, here's a toast.
-To rabbit season.
-to duck season.
I like rabbit season.
-Duck season.
-You want a recount? -Thinking about it.
-Load up!
-Load up!
