The Amazing Race Australia (2011) s05e12 Episode Script

Season 5, Episode 12

Previously on
The Amazing Race Australia
..in an epic stadium challenge
at the Adelaide Oval
Oh, this is hectic!
Please, please go faster
..the Geek and Princess
copped a penalty.
You did not find your group photo
and there will be time penalty.
Teams are going to be well ahead of us.
We love a good dress-up.
Then teams travelled
to the Adelaide Hills
Not sure if I'm a huge fan
of big sausages.
..where the footy mates
devoured the competition.
You are the first time to check in.
..handing the Cowboys the Salvage
and a gutted Geek and
Princess the Sabotage.
Tonight
It's amazing.
..we arrive in beautiful Port Lincoln.
It was such a cute, special moment.
He's trying to kill me!
These sea lions are looking for blood.
MJ and Chelsea enjoy a day off
This First Class Pass is amazing.
..while the Salvage and
Sabotage are revealed
This is the worst Sabotage.
..taking Chris and Aleisha
way off course
- So which way are we going?
- Uh, uh, uh Uh
..and a challenge so treacherous
Yeah, yeah, go backwards.
Keep going, keep going. Oh, sorry.
..that one of our favourites
- Right again? Right again?
- ..will bite the dust.
Oh, my God.
Your time on the Race is over.
It's 4am in South Australia's
capital, Adelaide,
where the eight teams
in play are up early
to receive their first
clue for this leg.
"Fly to Port Lincoln in South
Australia's stunning Eyre Peninsula."
"Find The Fishermen's Memorial at the Port
Lincoln Marina to find your next clue."
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
Hey, sir, how are you?
Can you get us to the airport?
It's a brand-new day. We're pumped.
We're in first place
and we were ready to give it 100%.
Let's go.
"Salvage team, you have a key advantage
"by having electronic maps
for this leg."
That'll help us.
We started off this leg in last place,
but we were fortunate enough to get
the Salvage from MJ and Chelsea,
so we're very lucky with that one.
We had electronic map use for this leg,
so we're over the moon with that -
we're terrible with directions.
Hey. It's not sealed right.
There we go. OK.
"Sabotage team, you may not ask
for directions during this leg."
Oh, damn. OK.
MJ and Chelsea, who we thought
were super good friends of ours,
gave us a Sabotage.
This is going to hurt
us a lot, actually.
Sorry, guys.
This is actually
one of the worst Sabotages
that any team has ever had.
Yeah.
If we get on our own, babe, we're
we could be totally screwed.
Yeah.
We've got that Telstra
in there and that iPad.
- The iPad.
- That's handy.
- Perfect.
- Very handy for us.
We get lost, like, everywhere we go.
I reckon.
It'll be good.
Teams are now on the same
flight from Adelaide to here -
Port Lincoln, South Australia,
on the stunning Eyre Peninsula.
It is home to the largest fishing
fleet in the Southern Hemisphere,
and it's also got some of the
richest water and microclimates
that produces the highest-quality
seafood on the planet,
including southern bluefin tuna,
a world renowned industry
which began back in the 1950s
and attracted migrant
workers from Croatia.
To this day, they are an important
part of the fishing community.
And it is the setting for the 12th
leg of The Amazing Race Australia.
Walk fast. Come on.
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
We just wanted to keep our lead.
We just wanted to keep pushing
and stay in first place.
Walk fast. Walk fast.
We are in Port Lincoln!
And we're heading off to The
Fishermen's Marina Memorial,
which we have somewhat of
an idea where we're going,
but it's always a mystery
on the Amazing Race with directions.
Just keep going straight.
At the roundabout,
take the second exit
onto Hallett Place.
Her voice is amazing.
And if anyone tries to follow us,
apart from Skye
- Jake and Skye to follow us.
- Yeah, Skye and Jake.
But if Chris and Aleisha
try to follow us,
I'm going to lead them off
This is the best Salvage
we could ever ask for.
- Goddamn right.
- And we didn't even ask for it.
This is going to be so much harder
for us than everybody else today.
I know. Don't worry about that now.
Let's
And we're in last place.
Last leg, we got lost so many times.
And the only thing that got
us where we needed to go
was asking people for directions.
So we were absolutely petrified
of what was to come.
- Yep. Fishermen's Memorial.
- Oh, yeah.
Oh, there, there, there.
Go, go, go. Park, park, park.
Here you are. We're back
at the top. This is what we wanted.
Let's keep pushing, pushing, pushing.
Love it.
- Detour, boy.
- Come on, baby.
A Detour is a choice
between two challenges,
each with its own pros and cons.
In this Detour, teams must
choose between Toss and Roll.
Port Lincoln has a long
history of tuna fishing
and in celebration of the industry,
in 1979, tuna tossing
became a competitive sport.
But they had real ones. Probably
not as heavy as this, but.
If they choose to Toss,
they gotta come down here to
the most picturesque foreshore
I've ever seen in my
life at Port Lincoln.
They've got to grab
a 10-kilo rubber tuna
and between them throw it three rings.
And it's the first point of impact
that gives them the point,
not where the tuna ends up.
Once they do that
..they'll receive their next clue.
Teams that choose Roll must come
down to the Croatian Sporting Club
and play traditional bocce
against my Croatian friends.
They must win ten games to succeed
by getting their green balls as close
as possible to the yellow jack.
However, every time Zoran and co.
score a point against their teams,
they have to don a traditional
Croatian cravatta
just for the opponents to rub it in.
I think we're pretty good
at throwing. Let's go toss.
I've never played bocce.
I reckon we just go do tuna.
- I think Toss
- Yeah.
'Cause throw Are you good
at throwing, like, a distance?
- OK, let's do Toss.
- OK. Alright. Let's go.
"Croatian" I reckon I could beat
the Croatians at something.
- OK. Let's go.
- Let's go.
So, which way are we going?
Ah Ah
Ah
Ah, go go right.
I'm thinking Toss.
- Yeah, righto, we'll do that.
- Toss. Let's go.
- Let's toss the tuna.
- Alright. Let's do that.
- OK. Alright. Let's go.
- Alright. Cool. Let's go.
"You must spin around on the spot
in the throwing circle three times
"A hit is the first point of impact."
- The first point.
- The first point.
- Basically
- Tuna bounces out, that's fine.
It's physical, you know,
tunas are heavy.
We soon realised that this is
slightly harder than I thought.
One Two
One more spin. Three. Steady up.
- Oh! This is heavy.
- Nah. That's alright.
- Hi.
- Hello.
We were the first team
to arrive at the Detour,
which I thought was a great feeling.
- You are against them.
- OK. Can you tell us the rules?
Every ball close to the jack
is a winner.
- OK.
- Yep.
It was basically a Croatian
version of lawn bowls.
- OK? OK. Thank you.
- OK.
We had to play against really
experienced, mature bocce players.
I'm not worried.
Winning 10 games will be easy.
Nup.
- Get in!
- Yes.
Babe, just don't hit mine.
- We're winning.
- Whoo. Yay.
That's a great one.
Ohh!
- Babe, remember I told you not
- I know. I tried to do the same one.
All you have to do is pass
half way, we would've won.
I know. I tried to do it!
OK, let's go.
There it is. I see it.
- Where?
- Straight. Keep going straight.
Oh, let's go.
Let's go.
Finally. Come on. This way, babe.
Hurry, hurry, hurry.
- Toss, yeah?
- Toss.
- Toss.
- Alright, let's go.
Champions of the game
of Croatian bocce
Bocce for sure. Let's go.
Left is the wrong way.
Well, you're gonna have to find out
where we are now and direct us.
We had been driving for quite a while.
It's just very frustrating
because you know that you're just
falling behind.
We need to turn around.
I'm not sure where we are.
I have no idea where we are because
I got lost at that roundabout.
Oh, shit. Jesus.
That's one spin.
Keep going. Two. And three.
Yes! Good work.
I think that's in there.
Yes!
We hit the first run pretty easily.
We got to the second one. Anurag
threw the second one pretty easily.
Just slow it down.
Now all we need to do is land it
in the final ring.
- No, you don't, see. Go steady
- What do you mean?
And that's when we realised getting
some momentum going around,
some of that centrifugal force would
really help throw this forward.
Our game plan is just
continue working as a team,
communicating together
and just doing our best to try
and stay at the top of the pack.
One!
Two.
And three.
Oh, baby!
Dead middle!
Yeah!
Perfect.
- Well done, boys.
- Cheers. Thank you.
We set this goal to come first.
We're on track.
Let's just keep pushing,
let's keep pushing.
Intersection.
An Intersection is a
challenge where teams must pair up
to complete a task.
In this Intersection, teams will
come here to Port Lincoln Marina
to decide who they're gonna work with.
Then they'll take a
boat to Hopkins Island,
home of the Australian sea lion,
in order to establish mooring points
for future expeditions and research.
Here teams must enter
the freezing-cold waters
and attach a buoy to a rope and chain,
then swim 4m beneath the surface
and attach it to a red
and yellow anchor point
to receive their next clue.
The faster they get it done,
the faster they get back to shore
and continue the race.
It says,
"Drive to the Port Lincoln Marina.
"Choose the team you wish to
work with for this Intersection."
I think Amanda and Ash,
they're very switched on.
We know they're good in the water.
I think they'll be a good pick,
especially if they're coming in second.
This is the worst Sabotage.
We are still on our way
to the Roll Detour.
- Baby, find it on the map, please.
- I found it.
- OK, cool. Tell me how to get there.
- Yep, just keep following this road.
Everyone else has got, like, silly ones.
Aleisha, if we get upset,
we're not gonna be able to catch up.
Yeah, I know. I just need
to let it out in the car, OK?
- OK. Be quick about it, please.
- Yes!
Three
We got the first one immediately.
You can do it. Get it in.
Oh, very bad.
It's OK.
It was just so difficult
to spin around three times
with this heavy tuna
and then still have aim
to be able to throw it
into one of these targets.
- Do you want to go first, Jacko?
- Yep.
I think you should.
It's got a bit of weight.
- A little bit of weight.
- Yeah, little bit of weight.
Two, three.
Nice.
I was starting to really doubt that
we were even going to get this.
This was not our challenge.
Two.
There's no particular way
we got to throw it, is there?
No, not really.
Oh, yeah!
- Beautiful.
- Champion.
- Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
- Cheers, bud. Thanks, mate.
Walked out of there second.
- We absolutely smashed it.
- Smashed it. Yeah.
We were really getting quite stressed
and just kept trying,
kept trying, kept trying.
We kept missing the rings.
We're landing them in the
wrong rings or in the first ring
time after time.
Oh, man.
When we got there,
Ashleigh and Amanda were there.
- Finished?
- No, we can't get it.
They were really,
really struggling with it.
Oh
Are they heavy?
Yep.
We are nowhere even close
to finishing this Detour.
Three
- Whoo!
- Great work, Skye.
Got it.
It's super frustrating to see
other teams come in
and nail it first attempt.
- Just keep going.
- You got this, girls!
this.
- I think we need to change.
- OK.
It was super disappointing but
we decided to change Detours.
It was definitely running through my
mind that we were going home today.
We tried our best.
Yeah. It
Like, I hate quitting on stuff.
And that's the first Detour
we've ever had to change.
- I know.
- But I think we made the right choice.
Because we were losing a lot of time
and we weren't getting any better.
Mm-hm. Hope we're good at bocky
Bocce.
Me too.
OK, what am I aiming for?
You're aiming for the ring,
so hit the ring.
Two more. One more turn.
You've gotta lift up, yeah?
- You've gotta go up, like that.
- Heavy.
Up. Like that. 'Cause you wanna lift
with your legs.
It's quite heavy but I realise
that you could build momentum
when you're rotating and turning.
And actually,
this challenge was perfect for us
with our strength and coordination
from dancing.
Good job, Jordan!
Careful of your foot. Yep.
- We got it! We got it!
- We got it!
Dance back with your fish!
- Appreciate that. Thanks so much.
- Thank you.
- Alright, take care. See you later.
- Bye.
"Intersection.
Drive to the Port Lincoln Marina.
"Choose the team you wish to
work with for this Intersection."
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
- OK, let's have fun.
- Have fun?
If all else fails, have fun.
Holly and Dolor were at the
bocce when we got there
and they had quite a
few cravats on already.
Which made me feel
a little bit concerned.
If you win the point,
you have one point.
If you lose, one point or two point,
we give you cravatta.
We have never, ever played bocce.
Too hard.
We got to the detour last.
It took so long to find the place.
- What am I going for? The first one?
- The second one. Second one.
Oh, no, first. Sorry, first.
- Good one!
- Yes!
I think the tuna-throwing challenge,
our strength definitely helped.
It was a cinch. Yeah, it was a cinch.
- Yes!
- Yes!
- Yes, yes, yes! Yes!
- First shot.
Thanks, mate. Thank you.
"Route info.
"Chose a team you wish to work with
for this Intersection."
Let's go.
- Found it.
- Oh, man.
After Detour came an Intersection.
We got told to head back to
the marina and look for a board,
put our names down and select
another team to work with.
We can sit here and wait
for every team to rock up
- and decide who we want to go with.
- Yeah.
Coming into the pointy
end of the race now,
it's very important
on who you work with.
Cowboys?
They're OK in the water, they said.
Jas and Anurag are in front of us,
but I think that will work out well
'cause we'll just use them on our team.
- Yeah. They're a strong team.
- They are.
- I want someone who has experience.
- Who's comfortable in the water.
For example, Amanda and Ashleigh.
Amanda and Ashleigh
probably would be the next choice.
Yeah. Next choice after them -
Skye and Jake.
Yeah. Definitely.
And I think Skye and Jake
are good in that aspect
That's them there.
- Anurag and Jas?
- Yep.
- Is it?
- Yep.
The Cowboys next.
So first rocked up - the Cowboys.
- OK, what do we do?
- Do you want us?
- What if we don't want you?
- Alright, let's talk about it.
- How do you guys feel?
- Let's just do it.
- Let's go.
- We'll figure it out.
Oh, there's four There's
two boats, four teams on each.
There were only two boats -
a 7:30 boat and a 7:45 boat.
We have a 15-minute head
start, let's get it done.
There it was. There it was.
Good spot, baby.
OK. Catch-up time.
- So we arrived in last place.
- Dead last. Yep.
Because we had our Sabotage,
we could not stop
and ask for directions at all.
So we just have to get these balls
closer to the jack than you do?
- Yeah.
- OK. Cool.
Cool.
Don't worry.
I'm honestly, like, thinking
maybe we are better at the fish.
Your problem is you rush.
Three red!
Better put those ties on.
Thank you.
- Ooh! And four.
- Thank you. Thank you.
So tight.
Thank you.
- How does my hair look?
- It looks good.
When we arrived at the marina,
it was an Intersection
so we were just waiting
for our next team.
And we knew exactly
who we wanted it to be.
I really want either the girls or
Jordan and Vi to get here first.
'Cause I'd prefer to work with
those teams than any other team.
Jake and Skye are both good
in water, Vi,
- so they'd be really good to work with.
- Yeah.
Jordan and Violeta, they've just
been on the same par as us.
We really enjoy their company.
They're just beautiful
souls, beautiful individuals
and we just really vibed with them.
- Yes! Yes! Yes!
- Let's go!
Great work, guys. Great work.
Great work.
Much to our surprise and gratitude,
it was Jordan and Violeta that came
and we got to team up with them.
- Which is exactly what we wanted.
- We were so stoked.
And we're on the first boat as well.
- I know.
- Yay!
So happy about that. Let's go.
Go. Boom.
Good to see Ashleigh and Amanda
not be able to do something.
This could be our shot to get
back in and not be last place.
- Yes! Yes!
- Yes!
It's in front!
That's more like it.
That's not bad. That's
You've got a good line.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you so much.
- That was a wonderful game.
- You deserved it.
It felt so wonderful to leave,
knowing we were not last.
I'm so proud of you.
Ow.
Ah, this sucks.
After playing bocce for an hour,
it just felt like this was going
to be never-ending.
Oh, no.
This is the worst we've done
on any day in The Amazing Race.
We just felt like our Amazing Race
dream is slipping away.
Intersection. Isn't it?
We arrive at the marina
and it gets to an Intersection.
And we had to wait for
the next team to arrive.
Who do you want to choose?
Oh
I was really keen on Chris and Aleisha
because they're just so intelligent
and meticulous, such a great team.
Oh, look, see the boys
might want to work with us.
- Do we want to work with them?
- Yeah. They're here.
Youse want to do
the Intersection with us?
- Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it.
- Nice.
Some pretty strong teams ahead of us
but I'm still feeling good
that we were not the very last team
to sign up.
Youse caught up mad.
Ashleigh, Amanda and
us, we're both struggling
and we're definitely
the last teams left.
- One more! Come on!
- That's it!
Yeah!
I don't know what type of God
was watching over this bocce game,
but our game and Holly and Dolor's
finished at exactly the same time.
We both got that last point
on the same bowl.
Thank you!
- Appreciate it. Thank you.
- Thank you. Thank you.
"Intersection. Drive to
Port Lincoln Marina."
"Choose the team
you wish to work with."
Let's go.
We've never been this late
in the race, in second last.
Deeply concerning.
It felt like $250,000
was just slipping away.
So I guess we're working with
Holly and Dolor on this one.
Holly and Dolor wouldn't have been
my first choice for the Intersection.
They don't work very well
as a team themselves,
let alone working with four people,
was looking really, really grim.
Hey, guys. Looks like we're
working together tomorrow.
We just need to work really,
really well as a team tomorrow.
- We can do it. We can beat them.
- Yep.
- You ready, guys?
- Let's go. Let's do this, boys.
Let's smash it out.
We're gonna make the oceanic
- Morning!
- Morning.
Can anyone in your team swim?
We didn't really have the best sleep
because we knew we were
waking up in last position.
But in the morning we made a
choice to look at it positively
and just work our absolute butts
off just so we're not out.
Oh, well, guys, our boat's
only in 15 minutes, so
Yeah, not long. We can catch that up.
On the first boat
there was Jas and Anurag
and the Cowboys as well as Violeta
and I and Jake and Skye-Blue.
We were ahead by 15 minutes
of all the other teams.
We should work out
who wants to do what then.
It depends how deep it is.
The chains won't be that big.
We've only got snorkels, though, so
Once we got onto the boat
we realised what we had to do.
We had to tie a floating buoy
across to an anchor at the bottom
with two chains, a couple of locks
and a rope.
- Who's good at Who can
- Who's good at going down?
Yeah, I'm not real good at it
but I'm determined enough,
I'll stay down.
We knew the Cowboys
were better swimmers than us
so we decided, let's get them
to do the chains underwater.
And both me and Jas know
how to tie the ropes -
we'll be confident to put those
together while they're underwater.
I think once we'll get there,
we want to get out there quick.
You can do amazing things.
Yep.
If we finish first, whoever's second
behind us, we just go help them
- Yeah.
- ..and then we get the hell out of there.
I like how we're just like,
"When we finish first."
We pretty much nutted out
exactly what we had to do
with practising on the boat
with the anchor.
And we were feeling very, very
strong for this challenge.
It should only take
should literally take
no more than 10 minutes.
OK, guys, this is our boat.
Very comforting knowing that
We're the best team.
Even though we're in last place,
knowing that we're there
with Amanda and Ashleigh,
I was really relieved and excited.
I don't mind doing the dive.
I just can't float around for too long.
They've got to float
I would say I swam well when I was
50kg lighter than I am now.
Now I'm just actually
the actual anchor.
Because you will sink
and then I'll pull you back up.
Yep.
- You'll pull him back up.
- Yeah.
- Everyone's lighter underwater.
- Yeah.
Bring it in.
- Raagh!
- Oo-ah!
I'm so pumped.
We can go
This is how you tie the rope.
Alright? So you go through
I was pretty relaxed knowing
that I can do the bare minimum
but we can still do really well.
- Stop. Make
- What?
- Make a loop.
- Like this.
I think Holly and Dolor probably
felt like they won the jackpot
with our team.
I thought you said do this?
- You said do this?
- No, no, no, no, no.
You're doing it wrong.
- Oh, Dolor.
- Dolor.
We had to work with Anurag and Jas.
And then also on the boat,
there was Skye-Blue and Jake
and Jordan and Violeta.
I think this is gonna be OK.
Yeah. I think it will be fine.
Yeah. I agree.
For this challenge, we had to swim
out to a floating pontoon
and connect a buoy to a rope and chain.
Then attach it to a red and yellow
underwater anchor pot.
There's some seals over there.
They're just frolicking in the water.
Enjoying the sun.
Bit like what I wanna do.
I've never seen sea lions before
so for me, it was such
a cute, special moment.
- Cool.
- That's amazing.
We would never really get the
opportunity to do things like this
if it wasn't for being on
The Amazing Race.
We jumped out of the boat
and due to us being Victorians,
we're used to the cold water
and gunned it to that pontoon.
- It is freezing.
- It was cold, mate.
It was freezing, mate.
All of us besides Jackson
lack in swimming ability
so Anurag and Jas,
they both got life jackets.
I probably should have got one.
The minute we got to the pontoon,
we pretty much got straight to work.
There was a lot of equipment
and obviously, all the sea
lions to work around as well.
It was not going to be easy.
We had already established our roles.
Jake was gonna be the treader,
holding up everything that we needed
and getting things organised.
Myself and Jordan were
gonna be the duck divers
and doing all of the work underwater.
- You doing this?
- Everyone get a good breath.
So the first thing we had to do
was connect the chain underwater.
I attached it to the mooring
directly below the pontoon.
Then it was ready to attach to the
rope and the buoy on the surface.
It was quite difficult
to keep diving underwater.
Especially when the water is so cold.
- It takes your breath away.
- Freezing.
It was quite challenging.
We had planned out exactly
what to do, who was gonna do what
and how to execute.
- Got that?
- Yep.
I've got this. You guys go.
The Cowboys were doing
the chains underwater.
You guys right?
Both me and Jas know how
to tie the ropes.
We are confident to put those
together while they're underwater.
- You ready, bro?
- Yep.
One, two, three.
It was probably about a
4-metre dive to the bottom.
The water was so cold down
there. I didn't love it.
But we managed to get the
rope and the chain attached.
- That's it.
- You happy?
Same way as Skye-Blue and Jordan did it.
Good work. Good work.
- You ready?
- We ready?
- OK, done. We're done.
- Are you guys done?
All of us on boat one
had worked it out really fast
and got our chains and ropes
firmly attached under the pontoon.
So we wanted to get it checked
and get straight out of there.
- No good.
- How about this one?
No good.
We got a no straight off the bat.
So we're like, "OK, we've
done everything right"
So what do you guys think it is?
"What could it possibly be?"
See how loose the chain is?
- No, I checked.
- Connected real tight.
What we hadn't realised
at that time
was we had connected the rope and chain
to the pontoon WE were holding onto.
But what we should have done
..was connected it to the red
and yellow anchor
which was just a few metres away.
Alright, come on guys. Let's start.
The first boat was doing their anchors
and we thought we were gonna
struggle to catch up to them
- 'cause they've got 15 minutes on us.
- Yeah.
Ashleigh and I took the lead
because we were the most
experienced in this field.
I grew up on the water so
I'm extremely confident.
Attach that to the buoy.
We were working
with Holly and Dolor
and I swam down to the bottom
and attached a chain to
that red and yellow anchor point.
We had to have a chat before
our team got in the water
that no-one get distracted
by the sea lions.
Because they are the puppies of
the ocean and they're so cute!
My role setting up the underwater
anchor was to tie the rope
to the chain.
Dolor is holding his arms over the chain
and kept squealing that he was
getting attacked by sea lions.
I feel
Babe! They're gonna kill me!
I could feel something licking my foot.
And I was getting really scared.
What does it
keep touching me for?!
These sea lions, they looked like
they were looking for blood.
- He's looking at you.
- Why is he licking me for?!
- Anyone got the rope?
- Where is it?
They looked like killer sea lions.
- Someone get the rope.
- Is that your foot?!
- That's my foot.
- Oh.
There was no sea lion at
his feet. It was just Holly.
Let go. Let go.
I was like, "Dolor, I
need to tie this on.
"You need to stop pulling it down."
I got it. I got it.
We took one attempt to get
our buoy set up and checked.
- Can we have a check?!
- Can we get a check?
- Check!
- Check.
Come on! Come on!
We had ours checked, it was marked off.
We started swimming back.
We couldn't have been
given a better challenge
to make our way back to first place.
Sick!
Ashleigh and Amanda
and Holly and Dolor finished
and we thought, "We're not too far off.
"If we can get this done as well,
"we can be on the
first boat out of here."
Yeah.
All done. All done!
Check.
Yes!
We beat the other teams
on the first boat.
- And we're in the top four.
- Pew, pew.
Us and Holly and Dolor were the
last teams to work together on this
and we went from very last
to first within minutes.
I'm so proud of us.
- Where are we gonna go.
- Ooh.
"Make your way into the epic sand dunes
of Port Lincoln National Park."
In this challenge, teams must come here
to the gorgeous Sleaford-Wanna
sand dunes in Lincoln National Park
where people travel from far and
wide to trek these epic peaks.
Now, one team member will be blindfolded
whilst the other team member
directs them through the dunes
using only a walkie talkie.
They'll be depositing flags along
the way until they reach the top.
And to make it more difficult,
they'll be walking backwards.
But it's not over yet.
They'll then come and
find me at the pit stop
of The Amazing Race Australia.
Excellent. Yay!
So then we figured out we
had attached our anchor
to the wrong anchor point.
It was really frustrating
to see Amanda and Ashleigh
and Holly and Dolor, Stan and Wayne
and Chris and Aleisha
finish a challenge before us.
Alright, so we're heading
to Port Lincoln National Park.
We were on the first boat
to leave Hopkins Island
and that was a major advantage
for the end of this leg.
It feels good. Second place right now.
I'm proud of us.
This is like the first time ever
we've been come top two.
- Yeah.
- In any leg.
We're technically third at the moment.
- We've gotta really focus now.
- Yeah.
Finish strong.
Pretty good so far, though, hey?
Sabotaged, we finished second last,
and now we're top four.
Let's push for the first, though, hey?
Yeah.
I love you.
It's below me, here.
Let's go, let's go. Ready?
We thought we had a really strong
team with Jake and Skye-Blue,
but with that stuff-up with the
anchor, it set us back so much.
Here! Can we get a check?!
Yeeeeah!
Both of the teams got theirs checked
and approved
within a very close time of each other.
"Make your way into the epic sand dunes
"of Port Lincoln National Park."
- Cool. Let's go.
- Let's go.
We did pretty well
considering the fact that
we're not the strongest swimmers
out there.
The leg wasn't over. We still had an
opportunity to make up some places.
Alright, let's go.
Let's go.
Is that on, babe?
I couldn't see anything, but I could
hear Dolor around me at the start.
- Can you hold your bag, or should?
- Yeah, let me finish this.
You're doing good.
It's a very steep hill.
Now, to your right
there should be your five flags.
To my right?
- I'm here.
- How far?
It wasn't the easiest challenge.
I'm blindfolded holding five flags
with different colours
that I can't see at all.
Walking backwards in huge gumboots
that didn't fit me properly.
Slight adjustment back the way
that you were going.
I had a walkie-talkie and I was
directing Amanda to put the flags
in five different coloured barrels.
Let's go.
Keep going.
You're going straight to a purple one.
OK, stop.
Do a quarter turn to your right.
Yeah, now keep going backwards.
Slight adjustment towards your left.
Yes, keep adjusting.
Yep, now go straight.
Can you hear Dolor behind you?
Oh, man!
OK, that's a OK.
Now hold up your flag for me,
one at a time.
No. No, your last one.
Put that in there.
You've gotta put it in. Put it in.
OK, yep, you've got it in, babe.
You got it.
OK, keep walking backwards.
Keep going.
Come here. Just follow me. Follow me.
- Here.
- What are these?
They're the flags.
Quarter turn to your left.
Yep, straight back that way.
Make an adjustment, Amanda.
Yes, that way.
We have probably the best communication
out of any of the teams.
You're absolutely killing it.
I'm so proud of you.
No, OK No, stop.
Do another quarter turn to your left.
When I saw how quickly Amanda was
moving backwards on the sand
compared to Dolor,
I knew that they are a huge threat.
We can't we can't match that
at the moment.
Yeah, no, go backwards. Five steps.
- Three, four
- Ah!
Reach down, it's low.
It's low. By your knee.
Other side. Turn around.
Turn, turn, turn. That's it.
Stop. Do not move.
You just moved!
OK, babe, you need to keep going.
Keep going, keep going, keep go
So we're pretty much equal last
place with four teams here, Vi.
Yeah.
Like, we got Skye-Blue and Jake
in front of us,
the Cowboys in front of them,
and Jas and Anurag in front of them.
- But they're three very strong teams.
- Yeah.
Heads down, bums up when we get there.
Not worrying about anyone else,
just focusing on us.
We were always taught that
slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Turn left onto Mary Ellis
Wreck Beach Road.
That'll do.
That's awesome. OK.
Yes, correct. That's the one.
Keep going. So proud of you.
- OK, stop, stop.
- I hit it. I hit it.
That's it. That's the last flag. Yes!
OK, now turn back around
and go back the way you came.
Yeah.
OK, you're nearly there.
Stop, stop.
Holly, where is it?
Turn to the right
and go backwards.
One, two
I did that as quick as I could.
The other teams
were just powering through.
Yep, put that in.
Yes! Put it in the bottom.
OK.
When you got the five flags,
you had to get to the clue box,
which was up the top of a hill.
This is the final thing.
Keep going. Keep going.
You're a few steps away
and then we're gonna win this, babe.
Can you feel the clue box?
I think you're right next to it.
I have the clue.
OK, I'm coming to you now.
She got to the top
and had both hands on the clue
and I had to then run up
the sand dunes to meet her.
- Oh, whoa!
- OK. Quick, quick, quick.
Yeah.
"From the top of the dune look around
"and find Beau at the pit stop."
Lincoln National Park
overlooks Boston Bay,
the largest natural
harbour in Australia.
And today it is the pit
stop of the 12th leg
of The Amazing Race Australia.
Emus.
Down there.
Who's this?
I'm already at this
box, whoever this is.
Did you hit it? It's behind ya.
Where's Holly?
Nah. To your left.
- Is that it?
- Holly, where are you?
Is this it?
I couldn't see a thing.
- Lower.
- Oh, yeah, I just bumped into it.
I finally figured out where it was,
and someone else's fingers
were all over it.
It was Dolor.
Run, Wayne!
- Open her up.
- Grab the clue.
- Whoo!
- "Find Beau at the pit stop."
"Hurry to get there. The last team
to arrive may be eliminated."
- Alright, let's go.
- Let's go.
When we got to the sand dunes
we knew there was another two teams
behind us.
We just knew we had to build it back up
and try to finish top four.
- Good, bro?
- Let's go.
It's a long run.
How much tuna do you produce a year?
350 tonnes.
- Wow. Really?
- Yeah.
Going from the top of the pack
all the way to last,
then back to the top again in one leg,
we knew we worked, like,
so well together as a team
to get to this spot, it was just
the best feeling ever.
The girls.
- Welcome to Port Lincoln.
- Whoo!
Thank you. Thank you.
Ashleigh and Amanda, you are
the first team to check in.
- Yes!
- Yes!
What a whirlwind.
And you've both won a holiday.
With thanks to Daydream Island
Resort and Living Reef,
along with 10travel.com
- Whoo!
- Whoo!
We love holidays.
..enjoy your holiday
and I'll see you soon.
- Thanks, Beau.
- Good to see ya.
Thank you so much.
Oh, my God.
Don't give up.
I'm going as fast as I can.
You got this.
Holly and Dolor, you are
- ..second team to check in.
- Wow!
So good.
Good job, man. Good stuff.
Oh, yeah. Come on.
Stan and Wayne, you are third team.
- Yes!
- Yes!
Nice job.
Hey, can I see just some?
Oh, yeah, wow. That's strong.
Wow.
Good boy. Go straight back up.
There's lots of mounds.
I think we're fourth.
I finally got all the flags
in the buckets.
So I ran up to the top
OK, hands on your clue.
OK, I'm off.
Chris missed the bucket
with one of the flags,
which was so hard to hear.
Oh, my God.
I had to start directing Chris again.
Whatever way you've just gone,
like, turn very slightly
Like, if you're facing the wind
and the wind is blowing your face,
you need to go with the wind.
Aleisha, forget about the wind.
Tell me which way.
Chris, put your hands up in the air.
Aleisha
A little bit turn anticlockwise
and then go backwards.
I'm really, really stressed.
I don't think there's any
way for us to catch up.
We missed a flag in the bucket.
Chris didn't put it in the bucket.
I can't see you. Can you please
keep your hands in the air?
No. OK. Stop, stop.
I couldn't see him and all I
could think in my head was,
he's gone off the opposite direction
and I have no idea
which way he is facing.
I can't see you at all, babe.
Now stand upright.
It's in. Stand upright.
Yep. Go straight back. Keep going. Yep.
I'd say "jump" and he'd say "how high?"
I wouldn't even say "how high?"
I'd just jump.
Don't let it fall out. Good stuff.
Yep, straight there.
I know it's hard.
You've got to go at that angle.
You've got to keep
walking straight back.
Walk straight back.
Walk, walk, walk. Let's
go, let's go, let's go.
There you are. That's it.
Just there. It's all uphill.
Just had that determination in his eye
and he did not stop moving
the whole time.
He was running backwards
and up down those hills.
I know it's tough. It's very steep.
Let's do it.
Big steps! Big steps!
Probably five big steps there, mate.
I'm coming up, bro. I'm coming up!
Stay there!
Anurag! I have the clue!
I have the clue!
- Come here, come here, come here.
- Coming. On my way.
"Last team to arrive
may be eliminated." Let's go.
Let's go.
Here we go.
Welcome to Port Lincoln!
- Thank you very much.
- Thank you.
Brendon and Jackson, you are
..fourth team to check in.
Well done.
Jaskirat and Anurag, you are
the fifth team to check in.
Turn more towards your right.
- More towards your right, Jordan!
- I am!
Go up. Go, go.
I knew that we were in last place
and my goal was to just
go fast and hard.
And that was it.
That's all we could do.
Keep it to the left, to the left.
You're doing awesome, Jake.
You're doing really, really well.
OK, baby.
I don't know where to go.
Yes! OK. I can see you.
I was so stressed.
I was like, OK, these next two teams
are about to overtake us.
We're gonna be in last place.
Stop, stop, stop.
OK, now feel around
the outside of the bucket
for the stick that you missed,
and put it in.
I could have screamed. I was so happy.
OK, you should be there No.
No. Turn more towards your left.
We dance together and we do routines
where our feet are perfectly
in sync with each other.
But for the first time
our communication was just out.
Jordan, come on! Come on!
You're doing so well
but you're going so slowly.
Walk backwards. Walk backwards.
No, no, turn around.
Turn around.
I was thinking to myself,
this could be it.
We could be getting eliminated now.
You've got to go uphill the entire time.
- More towards your right.
- Keep going.
- You're about to touch it.
- More towards your right.
You're about to touch it.
I want you to feel around.
OK.
Go in big steps,
and it'll be right behind you.
Keep going, keep going,
keep going, keep going.
We've lost a few spots but we were
not in last place at this point.
OK.
"Look around and find Beau
at your next pit stop.
"Hurry. The next team
may be eliminated."
- OK. I see it, I see it.
- You see it?
- It's a long run, Skye.
- Yep.
- Let's go.
- I'm trying!
Please, keep going.
We can take them. You're
doing awesome, and I love you.
They are very close
Chris, Aleisha, you are
sixth team to check in.
- That's good.
- Sixth team to check in.
Thanks, Beau.
- Come on, Aleisha.
- Up you get.
Here we go.
Skye-Blue and Jake, you are
..seventh team to check in.
OK, are we last?
- Yeah.
- Come on.
When did they leave?
Just not long ago.
I was really upset, because I
realised that it was gonna be hard,
very hard, for us
to miraculously beat them.
Stay with me.
Jordan and Violeta, you are
..the last team to check in.
And you are eliminated.
Your time on the Race is over.
Proud of you.
How are you feeling right now?
A little bit like we had more to give.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
I've known Jordan for almost nine years
and during this race I have found
out so much more about him.
And he can just attack any
challenge, mental or physical.
He always looks after you.
He always put you first.
- Yep.
- She's my best friend.
So I wouldn't
I wouldn't do this with anyone else.
That says enough. Yeah.
Next time on The Amazing
Race Australia
Wow!
I've always wanted
to be in the army.
In an epic, top-secret location
Danger's my middle name.
..teams go to war.
Gunfire.
Machine guns going off. So awesome.
Alright?
But when the body builders go MIA
Is this right?
I don't think we've come up
the right spot, bro.
You're kidding.
Oi, some van's down there
parked in the freaking bush.
Oh, dummies!
..will they bomb out of the race?
Aaagh! Hulk smash!
Or will a pitfall at the pit stop
You haven't finished your Detour.
..end one team's dream?
I'm not going home.
