From my father.
He got the number from
a man named Bishop.

If that's true,
then he would have
also gotten a code word.
He did. Delilah.
Okay.

Your father is Elijah Reed?
My adopted father, yes.
He's an Agency legend,
disappeared years ago.
He did.
We've been on the run
from the CIA ever since.
For the record,
I'm not CIA anymore.
So, what happened?
He came here on a business trip,
something he said
would change our lives,
but when he didn't check in
with me last night,
he always checks in
You got worried and came to New York.
His hotel security tapes show him
dropping his bags and exiting
dressed like an elderly man,
but when he never returned,
I knew something was wrong,
so I contacted you, as he instructed.
All right,
let me see what I can do.
I have some friends
that may be able to help.
I put out some feelers.
If the CIA does have your father,
I should be able to find out.
I know it's them.
They've been chasing him my whole life.
Why?
To silence him.
He was in the Dominican Republic
when a CIA bombing killed
a lot of innocent people,
including my birth parents.
My dad was disenchanted with the job.
When he found me in the rubble,
terrified and starving,
that was the last straw. So he quit.
Same reason I left the Agency.
But you don't just
walk away from the CIA.
He knew too much.
So he took you and disappeared.
Where are you taking me?
To meet those friends I told you about.
Still don't trust me?

Being on the run

Sounds intense.
That's why your father trained you

Parents deceased,
grew up in an orphanage,
recruited right out of high school

There was a car there earlier.
Now it's gone.
Go to the beginning.
There,

Looks like he's crossing to it,
then he veered into a warehouse
when he realized he was being followed.
Running the plates.
ROBYN: Benjamin Sandridge.
What do we know about him?
Recently retired after a long career
working for the U.S. State
Department, which means
CIA.
Possibly an old contact of Eli's.
The person he was coming to NY to visit?
If that's the case, this guy
could help us fill in a lot of blanks.
HARRY: Looks like he
opened up a pizza shop
in Williamsburg.

Wait.
Sam, how old are you?
- 27.
- And he found you when you were two.
What was going on in the D.R.
[HARRY TYPING]
MEL: Late '90s,
the D.R. had a period of civil unrest.
Power vacuums opened,
competing factions jockeyed for control.
HARRY: One key figure was
a military strongman Alfonso Cardozo,
whose rise to power seemed imminent.
Until his entire compound
was firebombed.
That's got to be it.
HARRY: All right,
let's see what the CIA has got on him.
Yeah, that's my father.
So, he was there.
Maybe he was sent down there
to recruit Cardozo as an asset,
until the CIA decided
they wanted someone else in power.
And get rid of Cardozo to make
sure he wouldn't get in the way.
Seems as though he survived the bombing.
Right after, he fled
the Dominican Republic,
so the CIA got what they wanted.
Well, now it looks like he put
together a small army of mercs
and is working as a gun for hire.
MEL: Linked to a gas attack in Barcelona
killing 27, including children.
Bombed a convoy full of aid workers
bringing supplies to Somalian refugees.
This is not a good guy.
So then
he's the one we've been
running from all these years?
MEL: Yeah,
seems like Cardozo wants payback.
Yeah, but he has my father.
What does he want with me?
And if he's the one that's been
chasing us my whole life, then
why did my father
tell me it was the CIA?

I was embedded in Cardozo's operation

That you couldn't control him.
