The Amazing Race Australia (2011) s05e17 Episode Script
Season 5, Episode 17
Previously
on the Amazing Race Australia
..teams arrived in Van Diemen's Land
We've never been to Tasmania.
..where steady hands
Oh, no!
..and a Full Monty Fast-Forward
Get nude with my bro.
Oh, my God!
..saw Skye-Blue and
Jake take out the win.
You are the first team to check in.
After today, there is nothing
I won't do for this race.
I'm here to win.
Tonight
- Whoa!
- ..it's high stakes
140 metres down.
..high pressure.
Seriously hard.
Go, go, go.
Oh!
Dammit!
With six tough teams remaining,
surviving this leg
will be harder than ever.
Oh!
Yes! Yes!
As they race through
the Apple Isle
It's nine degrees.
- Ugh!
- Are you freezing?
Ohh!
..tempers boil.
- Ohh, mate.
- Ooh.
But when teams work together
Shuck and eat 100 oysters.
Don't throw up. Just swallow it.
Bleugh!
..what will cause the Cowboys
- Oh!
- No, you're joking!
..to lose their cool?
It's a tactical decision.
Emotions all over the place.
Nah.
Don't let him get into your head.
That's just weak.
The Amazing Race Australia
is in gorgeous Tassie.
And the heart of this stunning island
is filled with
breathtaking mountains,
rainforests and lakes galore.
Including this one - Lake Pedder -
which is the largest inland storage
freshwater lake in Australia.
It holds 37 times the amount of water
of Sydney Harbour.
Teams have travelled from Hobart
to Lake Pedder Lookout,
and that is where they will begin
the 17th leg of
The Amazing Race Australia.
Come on.
OK, "Drive to Gordon Dam,
Australia's largest reservoir.
"Sink a basket from the edge
of the 140-metre-high wall
"to receive your next clue."
Let's get this on.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Our six remaining teams
are departing in the order
they finished the last leg,
and are on their way to Gordon Dam.
This challenge is really 'dam' high.
Our teams must come here,
to Tassie's tallest dam,
Gordon Dam -
a 140-metre-high
concrete curved arch dam.
Now, in this challenge,
teams must drop basketballs
140 metres down,
in the aim of landing it
in the net below.
And with that length of drop,
the swirling wind
has plenty of opportunity
to blow the ball off course.
Only once the ball is in the net
will they receive their next clue.
Come on, bro.
Run, Ashleigh!
Let's go!
- Gordon Dam.
- I think it was behind us.
It was back behind us, was it?
Have we already gone through it?
- Yeah.
- Beautiful.
We're getting closer to the end.
There's only six teams left.
We can almost smell the $250,000.
Today we're going to get out of last
position, work our way over the top.
That's where we belong.
Being sporty gals,
hopefully it pays off for us,
but there might be also a high
expectation on us to nail this.
We could be there all day.
Who knows?
We're stoked to be
second in today's leg
because always trying to aim
to be in that top three, if we can.
Hopefully we, um, get there
so we can see Jake and Skye-Blue
have their throw.
Gordon Dam.
Do you want to look on your map
to see if there's any
- Um there's nothing for this area.
- OK.
Our plan to stay at the top
of the pack was to minimise mistakes
and just get to the challenges
ahead of everyone else.
We can always pull over
on the side of the road
to see if a team
comes in behind us.
But then
But then it just
We lose our lead.
Yeah.
Gordon Dam wall is, like, all
the way down the end of this road.
I hope we can nail this quickly.
Me too. I hope we can make up
some spots today.
We started this leg in fifth, which
isn't exactly where we want to be.
We're down the back of the pack.
On the right track.
- We're here now.
- Yiew! Basketball! Here we go.
Where's Jake and Skye-Blue?
They must have turned the wrong way.
They must have gone back to
I don't know.
Let's get as many shots as we can
before another team gets here.
Yeah.
We left Pit Start in first place,
however, we were driving
for a while and
..couldn't really see
any cars behind us.
I hope we're going the right way.
There is every chance
that it was back the other way.
I don't I doubt it would be,
but there is every chance it is.
Alright. Let's get this done.
Here you go.
At Gordon Dam there was
just a bunch of basketballs
and our task was to put
the ball in the net at the bottom.
Yep.
140m down.
Too much.
- Ooh, that wind!
- That wind.
- Here, let me go again?
- I'll go.
Oh, you're gonna go?
Because we actually had
a few opportunities to throw
the basketballs off the dam
before any other teams got there
Way too much.
Every single throw was different.
- A little bit more. Oh, my gosh.
- That wind!
- It's changing every time.
- Yeah.
I see only one car there. Strange.
- Yeah. Only one car.
- That's very odd.
Lock. Just lock.
Let's go. We don't need to.
- I see people down there.
- Ball's there.
The ball's there. Let's go.
This is where we make up some time.
- Here we go. The boys are coming.
- OK.
Maybe just drop it right here.
- Get on! Get in!
- That's in!
- That's in!
- No!
What do we have to do now?
Maybe this side?
The Super Sikhs got there
and we started going shot for shot.
Oh, go, go.
The rule was
we had to wait behind the line
until they'd taken their shot.
We were hustling one another
to go as fast as possible
so we could get as many shots in
before the other teams arrived.
The quicker you go,
the quicker we can go.
Yep. Go.
Not enough power.
- Bad luck.
- Bit more power.
- Let's go. Good luck.
- Yeah. Far out.
Have you looked at
all the maps?
Couldn't even tell you
where Gordon Dam is from this.
We haven't passed that town yet,
have we, Skye?
No. We haven't passed any town yet.
Here we go.
What have we got here? Second car.
Third car.
- Beautiful.
- You got the clue?
- Yeah.
- Great.
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
Alright.
- Got the clue?
- Yep.
- Oh, my God.
- Whoa!
Leg it down there, bro.
Come on. Come on. Come on.
Dammit!
It's the right power, just left now.
Going way to the right.
So, don't go as far out as me,
but don't go as short as those boys.
So, you want a little bit more.
Come back.
That wind just
Bounces in, it bounces in!
Yes! Yes!
That's in, right?
Whoo!
Awesome.
- Thank you so much.
- Appreciate it.
Cheers, mate. Thank you.
Let's go. We'll read it up there.
Up the stairs.
- Yeah.
- Let's go.
- Well done, girls.
- Can I go?
- Good luck, guys.
- Good luck, girls.
And as we were leaving,
Amanda and Ashleigh
were running down the stairs,
followed by Chris and Aleisha.
- Let's go, ladies.
- Did you get it?
- Yep.
- Nice.
It doesn't have to bounce in.
It can roll in, so use the dam.
Awesome.
Hey, any tips? Did you spin it?
No, we just threw.
Just a light
The wind kind of changes a bit,
but just
Alright. Here you go.
- Ooh, detour.
- Detour. Alright.
The detour is a choice
between two challenges,
each with its own pros and cons.
Tasmania is known for
its cool climate fruit growing,
so our teams will now make their way
to the Westerway raspberry farm
to complete this detour.
They'll find the big raspberry,
marking the Apple Isle's
largest berry farm,
then decide between crush or crunch.
For the teams who choose crunch,
one team member must
get in a vat of near freezing water,
and without using their hands,
find one apple out of 100
with a dyed black core.
For the teams that choose crush,
they must pack 20 boxes of
raspberry puree,
weighed with precision
to exactly 10.5kg.
The boxes must be completely
mess free and ready for sale,
as determined by the supervisor.
Once complete,
they'll receive their next clue.
- Alright, let's go. Here we go.
- Alright. We know where we're going.
- OK.
- I don't know where the dam is.
Do you want to just turn around
and then if we see another car,
we can turn back around instead of
just waiting here for a car?
Yeah, maybe.
Alright, we'll just head back
and if we see cars,
we'll turn around
and go back this way.
We had gone the wrong way.
The fact that we haven't seen a car
yet is probably not a good sign.
Wow. Oh, boy.
Let's go, guys.
- Oh, he spun it.
- Come back, come back, come back
Yes!
Luck of the wind, I guess,
but we got it and we're out of there.
- Well done, boys.
- Beautiful.
Thanks mate. Thank you.
Appreciate it.
- Keep going, guys.
- How did you do it?
- How did you do it?
- I just a little I didn't roll it.
We were last to
leave at the start of the day.
Second team to leave
the first challenge.
Pretty sure if we do crush,
you've got to stomp the
- ..stomp them, don't you?
- Yeah. The store.
- Do you want to do that?
- Might be better.
Let's go.
It's annoying.
Gordon Dam.
Just like that.
We were at the top
and then we're at the bottom.
Come on, Skye.
Jake, how do we get down?
Let's go, guys!
The whole thing's the zone, babe.
Yeah, exactly that. Good boy.
Yes, yes.
Too far.
MJ and Chelsea I'd say got lucky.
Oh, the wind has died down,
Ashleigh.
So did the cowboys.
Oh, no.
- Yeah!
- Well done.
Get your clue, get your clue.
Get your clue, girls.
Get your clue.
Then so did Ashleigh and Amanda.
Thank you!
All of a sudden
- Crunch. OK.
- Let's go.
..there were three teams
left behind
Us, Chris and Aleisha
and Jake and Skye.
- How hard is it?
- It's hard because of the wind.
- The wind changes.
- Good luck.
First challenge, last to second.
- Not bad, hey?
- That's how we do it.
That's how we roll.
Is that another team in front of us?
- I wonder if that's MJ and Chelsea.
- Probably is.
That could be MJ and Chelsea.
It must be. By the look of it.
Hopefully we can, um, jump from
2nd to 1st after this challenge.
That's right.
- There's the raspberries.
- Oh, yeah.
Big sign right in front.
Straight across. There you go.
Oh, do you want to do
the apple bobbing? There it is.
What do you reckon?
Yeah, let's do it?
Alright, let's do it.
I think when we saw the apples
and Chels just said,
"Let's give this one a go."
- Uh, crunch.
- Crunch.
- You're getting in, right?
- Yeah.
- Here we go. What are we going?
- We're going crunch.
2, 4, 6, 8,
10, 12, 14, 16, 18
So what have we got?
Probably about 100 apples.
She's got to get in there
and it's going to be freezing.
Let's go, swimmer.
Come on.
So we have to It's going to be
black in the core.
Are you sure? Ice bath recovery.
OK. And if they go outside, I have
to pick it up with my mouth out here,
so don't knock them out.
Pretty friggin' cold.
- Looks good.
- Get him on there.
Big boy. Ha-ha!
Alright, let's go.
So the initial thing was about a box
and we added some wrapping
inside of it.
Start filling.
You got to take it over
Can we fill it over there?
And get 10.5kg in each box.
Keep going.
Jeez, you're slow.
- How many have we got to get?
- 20 boxes.
- 20 boxes.
- Yeah.
This is going to take forever.
It's It's absolute luck.
The wind
is blowing around everywhere.
Oh, so cold.
MJ, Chelsea,
the girls and cowboys have got it.
- Oh, no.
- Far out.
It was good knowing that we still
had a chance to jump up some places.
We've got to go like that,
under the bloody thing, OK?
Come on, come on.
Bounce off, bounce off, bounce off.
Come on.
Come on. You've got the right angle.
Keep going, keep going.
Wait, wait, wait
Come on. Alright, guys. Come on.
Nope. That's nowhere near. Ooh.
Ohh!
Come on.
Oh, the wind got that.
Yes!
Oh, well done!
We have been very lucky when it comes
to challenges like this.
Thank you so much, bro.
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
And this one
was more important than ever
because we'd just fallen
so far behind.
We arrived at the dam last
and we got it on our first attempt.
I reckon crunch.
- Crunch?
- Crunch.
Alright, let's do crunch.
Let's go.
OK, come on.
So, that's the corner one.
It was really, really,
really cold water.
I was absolutely freezing.
You've got to get under it.
Get under it with your head.
That's it. That's it.
I was scared to put my head under.
Good!
I've bitten that one.
At this point,
we'd bitten through about 50 apples.
No, that's a good one.
It felt like we were
getting nowhere.
- No.
- Check it again.
It's frickin' good.
I was struggling.
- Do you want to change detours?
- Nah.
What do you reckon?
How are you going?
Do you Do you want to go?
It's getting friggin' cold.
I've bitten that one.
That one.
Are you OK?
How are you going? Do you
Do you want to go?
It's getting frigging cold.
Another change to
Choose the other one?
- What do you want to do?
- The Detour
- The other Detour
- It's up to you.
- Just do it.
- Let's do it?
Let's switch it. Alright. Come on.
We're switching.
Let's go.
They must have got it.
Are they holding a clue?
- Are you guys changing?
- Oh, you've got to change.
- Nuh. You didn't get it?
- We're changing.
I mean, you might have luck
- How many did you bite into?
- Quite a few.
Ah, let's have a look.
MJ and Chelsea gave up
because they were too cold.
Alright. If you've got
a good feeling
We thought this is the one
we wanted to do.
It still looks fun.
Alright. I'm ready.
And we're not going to quit.
We don't quit.
Is it cold?
I'm in a bikini in a freezing cold
ice bucket bobbing apples.
It's really hard to get this.
Have we made a bad decision?
You try to do it.
My tactic's not working.
Go. Come on.
We were convinced we had missed.
Go, guys. Go, go, go.
So we let Chris and Aleisha
have their go.
But all of a sudden
- Wait Wait
- Come on. Go, go, go
- Yes! Yes!
- ..it went in.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
- Thank you.
- Good job, guys.
- Keep going, guys. Keep going.
- Thanks.
- Run, run.
- They're not that far ahead of us.
OK, Aleisha.
Just like that, we're in last place.
Goddammit.
Totally gutted.
Come on. Yes
- Yeah, alright. We're here now.
- OK.
Ready to rock'n'roll.
- Your raspberries are ready for you.
- Alright. Thank you.
Good scooping-upping.
Even though we lost time
by switching Detours,
we thought we could get in there,
smash out 20 boxes
and get out of there pretty quickly.
How's that other one?
I haven't checked it.
I'm just putting more in this one.
Yep.
10.50.
Idiot.
Did you see the weight?
Yep, perfect.
Alright. I'm going to count
the next one.
I tell you what, that sticky tape
was going to be the death of me.
Oh! Mate.
That thing was just frustrating.
Sticky tape and rubber gloves
does not work.
I'm about to snap
if this thing keeps doing that.
Oh, my God.
- Can you check it?
- Ugh!
Sorry. I'm sorry.
I was trying to wash it.
You had dirt all over it.
I did not mean to splash your face.
We were in that rain and the wind
and the water for a long time.
But mindset was everything.
No.
I just couldn't think I was cold.
There was no time for that.
No time to even fix mascara, people.
This is a race.
This is not a beauty pageant.
This is hilarious, by the way.
Is that a bad apple?
Oh, my God, yes.
That's the one.
- There you go.
- There you go.
- Thank you!
- Thanks, guys.
Let's go get warm.
Cold?
Oh, my God.
Aren't you freezing?
Yep.
- You gotta get warm.
- Yep. It's fine. I'll be fine.
Alright, um
- Do you want to do this first?
- Yep. Yep.
Ooh, that is cold.
"Intersection."
An Intersection is where
two teams must work together
to complete a challenge,
and for this Intersection, our teams
must make their way to New Norfolk,
to here, Australia's oldest
continuously operating hotel,
the Bush Inn.
And it opened back in 1815.
In this challenge,
teams must come here
to shuck and eat
100 of my favourite food
..oysters.
These bad boys are up there
with the best in the world,
and Tassie produces
36 million of them each year.
The key to this challenge is
strong hands and a strong stomach.
Once they're full to the brim,
they'll receive their next clue
..off my good mates,
twins Pete and Don.
You do know this is an aphrodisiac,
boys, right?
Oh, wow.
Let's go.
Ow! I hit my head!
Oh, my God.
Throwing them over the other side.
- Got it?
- Got it.
We never have an issue
when it comes to challenges.
Here we go.
Bit of blind luck again.
Hello.
Hold it, hold it
Yep. That's the one.
- Awesome!
- Thank you very much.
- Thank you very much. Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
Intersection.
"Shuck and eat 100 fresh Tasmanian
oysters to earn your next clue."
Yuck. Ohhhh, yuck!
Oh.
Come on. Go. Go, go, go.
Wait.
Oh, my God.
- Yes!
- Finally!
- Awesome. Thank you so much.
- Thank you. Thank you very much.
That sucked.
It was just a little bit
of a luck challenge,
and we haven't been very lucky.
- I think we're pretty far back now.
- Yeah.
It felt hopeless, you know.
They were so far ahead of us.
We just got really unlucky.
Oh!
12, 14
Alright. This is number 15.
- You got five more to go.
- Yep.
We're getting down to the bottom
of our crate, that's for sure.
It's the last one, bro.
All of our boxes were packed
and they were ready to get checked.
20 boxes.
Thank God, because we've been
here for about an hour, 20 minutes.
I'll get the trolley.
Old man put the pallet
full on the scales and got a weight.
All our weights were spot-on.
And then he started
pulling them out individually
and was getting a pretty good little
pile going over the right side.
These ones I can sell.
These ones I can't sell.
- Is that because the box is dirty?
- You just need to change the box.
Righto.
I wasn't real impressed.
Oh, mate.
I think we chose the wrong Detour.
Getting a bit cold outside.
It's nine degrees.
OK, go.
That water was cold.
- Ready?
- That water was real cold.
Use the corner.
Initially we tried out a strategy
where Anurag would grab the apple
with his teeth, reach up,
and I would grab the apple
on the other side and bite it off.
Within about three seconds,
we realised
..there needs to be another way
of doing it.
I want you to start
throwing them out.
Bite into it and throw it out.
OK?
OK, let's hustle.
When we got to
the raspberry factory
Some people are here, babe.
Some people are here.
..and we saw MJ and Chelsea
and we also saw the cowboys,
and we thought, "Might be able to
close the gap a little bit on them."
I took as many boxes as I could
carry all at the same time.
And I got two scoops
and I just got in there
and filled up
just as fast as I could.
All we could think was,
"Try to catch up.
"Just go as fast
as you possibly can."
100 oysters.
For the 250K, I'll eat anything.
100? That's a lot.
You've never eaten an oyster before,
have you, Skye?
No. They're just like
big, giant boogers.
They're just slimy and goobey
and just
Alright. I feel
- Yeah, that's it.
- That's it?
Yeah.
We actually arrived first.
Let's go, Skye.
But Ashleigh and Amanda
were right behind us.
From what we could gather,
we were the first two teams.
I'm happy to team up
with these lovely lasses.
Let's do it!
- Let's do it!
- Whoo!
It worked in our favour,
to arrive with them.
Oysters
Alright. Do it. Let's go.
Hopefully not all make out
because of the aphrodisiacs.
Not only did we have to eat
all 100 oysters
- One of these each, I guess.
- I think so.
..we also had to shuck
every single one of them as well.
I don't know how to shuck these.
- Yeah, how the hell are you
- Brute force.
Oh, yes! Look! Brute force.
It just worked.
Jake, you're a genius.
Look at it wiggle.
My first-ever oyster experience
..was not a great one.
Bleugh.
Same.
This is the best challenge ever!
I just ate my own vomit.
Oh, that's a big one.
Think so.
I'm getting really quick at this.
I'll be like, "Skye, just don't
throw up. Just swallow it."
It's fine. It's fine.
We're not even halfway
through that massive pile
and Skye is already
in a world of pain.
She was vomiting, dry retching..
She was struggling to open the
All things were tough on this one.
Yuck!
I feel like a dog.
I was grabbing these apples,
throwing them away.
It was insane.
I wanted to get out of this
as soon as possible.
Oh, I found it.
I think I found it!
That's the right one.
Goddammit! Yes!
- Yes!
- Yep, that's it.
YESSSSSS!
You look like you've got
blood all over you.
The raspberry packing looked like
a bit of a murder scene.
Lots of mess. Look at me.
I'm completely raspberried out.
- How many have you got left up there?
- Three.
These boxes
have to be clean.
We don't want to be repacking
any boxes.
Yoo!
How good's that?
Girls are nearly done.
That one's done too, bro.
'Cause the Cowboys were sent back
to repack their boxes, we thought,
"This is our chance.
We could overtake them here."
All the way to the back, MJ.
And stop.
Perfect.
Congratulations. I can sell
your pallet of raspberries.
- Thank you. Thank you so much.
- Thank you. Oh, I'm sorry.
- Thank you. See ya.
- Thank you.
Intersection. "Shuck and eat 100 fresh
Tasmanian oysters to earn your next clue."
- Wait, eat them? Yes!
- Let's go.
That's it.
Righto.
So we changed the boxes over,
come back out,
and we just slapped them back down
on the pallet and he'd re-weigh it.
Congratulations, fellas.
- Thank you, mate.
- Very good.
Thanks, mate. Let's go.
- Rightio.
- Intersection.
Can you move that shitty one there?
This one closest to me,
closest to me, closest to me.
We knew we were in last place
at this point.
- So is this one ready to tie?
- That one's fine.
OK.
So we were just pushing through
and trying to get the boxes right
and do the best we can.
Yeah. Trying to make up
any kind of time that we could.
Oh.
It's just we can't catch up.
I'm actually starting
to feel sick now.
I don't know how many more
I can eat.
Swallow!
Take the keys with you, yeah?
I can hear people
Alright. We need to hurry.
How are you, mate?
Oh, we gotta wait for 'em?
We knew Chris and Aleisha
were behind us
so probably going to be working
with them.
They're vegan. They're not
going to have any oysters.
We'll have to eat 50 each.
I can see
Who's that going past?
The keys?
- Is that MJ and Chelsea?
- No way. Hold on.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Oh, hey!
I love you girls. I love you girls.
I love you girls! Let's do it!
Congratulations.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you very much.
Intersection.
"Shuck and eat 100 fresh Tasmanian
oysters to earn your next clue."
If we have to work
with Chris and Aleisha
They're vegans.
They don't eat them.
You get a choice.
You don't have to work with them.
No, I know, but if we're going fifth
and they're sixth,
we have to work with them.
- Ahh
- You know what I mean?
Hopefully there's another team
back there
so we're getting here fourth
or third.
Now we've got competition here.
No more fun and games.
How are we, girls?
And guys? OK.
Oh, my God.
I think that was a good indication
of how it was going.
Just get it down.
Ooh. Oh.
Last one!
I can confirm I will never be
ordering oysters ever.
"Make your way
to Willow Court Asylum."
"Navigate through the building
using a map
"to find Beau
at your next Pit Stop."
"Hurry! The last team to arrive
may be eliminated."
Alright. Let's go.
The Willow Court Asylum first
opened its doors way back in 1827.
But then it shut in the year 2000.
This is Tasmania's most haunted site,
and to reach the Pit Stop,
teams must navigate their way
through a pitch-black maze
of corridors and eerie mental wards
while bravely avoiding
creepy distractions.
Ahhhh!
Once they've found the exit,
they'll make their way out
to the barracks behind the asylum,
where I'll be waiting
at the 17th Pit Stop
of The Amazing Race Australia.
But beware
..the paranormal activity
in this building is real.
What was that?
Willow Court Asylum.
Feel so sick.
- Straight up this road?
- I guess so.
I would love some lemon and just
someone else to shuck these for me.
I definitely
don't have this technique right.
I was shucking abysmal.
Oh, my God.
Excuse me, yo!
Do you have table etiquette, mate?
Me? What etiquette?
Have you seen this table?
We're coming last anyway,
so even if we don't
do this challenge
and we take a penalty,
what's the difference?
That's true.
And I'd rather take a penalty
than than handle oysters
and prepare oysters
for someone else.
Hopefully we get up here and we're
not working with Chris and Aleisha,
'cause we're not at the back
of the pack, then, you know?
Yeah. True that.
We might be right.
We have to find Beau.
Oh, there's a race flag there.
- Where?
- Straight ahead.
Arriving in the asylum,
it was a running race with the girls.
Torch, map.
We could see on the map that
Beau was somewhere in the asylum,
but we had to get through
all the crazy buildings to find him.
Yeah, I know where to go, guys.
You don't need to just follow them,
Skye.
- I just want to sit here.
- Never listens.
Cheers, guys. Last one.
- Cheers. Salut.
- Cheers. Here we go.
Thank you very much, mate.
We got here before
the other guys got here.
- Well done.
- Good job.
- Alright. Awesome. Thanks, mate!
- Let's go, let's go, let's go!
"Make your way
to Willow Court Asylum."
"Hurry!
The last may be eliminated."
Hey, you guys.
Ah, you gotta wait for Aleisha
- Oh!
- No! You're joking!
Good luck.
Chose the wrong Detour, didn't we?
I love oysters.
Brendan doesn't eat seafood
but he was willing to try.
Never had 'em before.
We are going to be with Chris
and Aleisha, who are vegans.
I just thought, "Here we go."
We're up shit creek
without a paddle, that's for sure.
Oh, we've been fuming.
We've got to work with Chris and Aleisha,
two vegans who won't eat oysters.
Not real impressed meself having to
work with a set of vegans, but anyway
What you thinking?
I'm thinking that we'll just ask
the boys what they want to do, hey?
We were quite nervous
because we don't eat oysters.
Hey, boys. How you going?
You're not playing pool or anything?
Nah.
We're waiting. Let's go.
That sucks that you had to
wait for us.
- Righto, let's go.
- Go this way, mate.
Hello. Thank you.
So, obviously, we can't eat oysters.
- You will be eating some.
- There's no such thing as can't.
No, boys
You wanna win 250 grand or
what? 250,000 - you gotta eat those.
So, either you guys eat 100 oysters
or we take a penalty.
I'm not taking a penalty.
It's just
I'm so sorry, but we
really can't eat them.
Can you shuck them?
We can, but we won't eat them.
I don't think you've fully
thought out the penalty situation.
- I don't want a penalty.
- Why?
Because I want to eat 'em all.
I don't like quitting
and I wanna do it.
- But we're
- There's no such thing as can't.
Come on, we're losing
time. Start busting them open.
Yeah, we're losing time.
We decided with the boys
that we would shuck them.
- And they could eat as many as they want.
- Yeah.
You shuck 'em, we'll eat 'em.
You sure, boys, because
I don't want you to be sick.
I've never had 'em before.
I'll be fine. I'm not quitting.
- Skye and Jake are coming down here.
- Where? Hang on.
That's the girls
in front of us.
- This one, this one. I can see a flag.
- Oh, yes.
I need more light.
Ash. Wanna come here?
Everything was so dilapidated.
There was broken bricks,
there was cracked windows.
It was so eerie and quiet.
Oh, God. What is that?
- It's a possum.
- OK, keep going, keep going.
Shh. Shh.
Down here. Down here.
Oh, my God.
Even with a map, it was impossible
to get our bearings.
Wait. I can hear something.
Then you hear this little kid, I don't
know if it was laughing or talking.
That's creepy.
There was this creepy as doll,
just nee-nee-nee-nee-nee.
It was creepy.
Just reminded me of Skye.
Who wants this one?
- Righto, mate? - Sit 'em over here.
- I'll give it a go.
If not, Jacko's gonna be
eating a lot.
What, I down all that?
Pick it up on your knife,
straight in your mouth.
- Just like that?
- Yeah. Straight in the mouth.
- Or just suck it like
- I ain't sucking it.
My very first oyster on national TV.
Do you like it?
Get us a drink, eh?
You want me to get you a drink?
I'm the eater.
I can get it. I'll go get it.
What do you want?
He'll be right.
Straight down the hatch.
Do you need water?
I'm gonna stick to
shucking them, brother.
I'm sorry, dude.
That is puss.
- I didn't think he would, but he did.
- Oh, mate.
So I was over the moon that he
just tried, but he couldn't stomach them.
Puss.
You don't reckon you can stomach
a few more?
Oh, no.
Will not try it again. Nah.
- You weren't a fan, were you?
- Was not a fan.
Is that penalty looking pretty good?
Just 'cause it might make you sick
if you have to eat 100, that's all.
I don't see why Jackson feels he needs to
prove something by eating all 99 oysters.
We knew we were in last place
at this point.
Where are we going now?
Go, go, go, go, go.
We arrived at the mental asylum.
Oh, where did they go?
Around that corner.
Should we follow them?
- OK, come.
- It was spooky as.
This joint's pretty bloody creepy,
mate.
This is super scary.
What's the scariest place
in the asylum?
I would have to say Ward C.
What the hell?
I'm not touching that.
Don't touch anything. Holy shit.
- And is that where the?
- Criminally insane male ward.
- Criminally insane male?
- Yeah.
- This is a morgue. This is super scary.
- Very spooky.
This is getting scarier and scarier
by the minute.
I've never seen something
like this before.
I've been in a few mental
places, but not like this.
Yeah.
Let's go, let's go.
We finally found our exit.
- Do you know where to go?
- No.
It's pitch black,
we can't see anything.
Now we just have to find Beau.
I think we need to keep going down.
- Yeah?
- I don't know, babe.
I'm, like, you're the one
looking at the map.
OK, well, you're holding the map
right now,
- so just tell me what you're thinking.
- Is this the avenue?
This is the
one we just came out of, yeah?
No.
Your sense of direction is terrible.
Ash, Ash, Ash.
Quick.
Oh, my God.
We worked out where we needed to go
and Skye and Jake were still
kind of looking at their map.
So we overtook them in that moment.
- Look for 41, Skye.
- That's right here.
Let's go!
That way. That way. That way.
Wow. Wow.
Welcome to Willow Court Asylum.
Thank you.
Ashleigh and Amanda,
you are the first team to check in.
Whoo!
Skye-Blue and Jake,
second team to check in.
Great work, Skye. Good job.
- Good work, guys.
- Well done, guys.
Now, Ashleigh and Amanda, because
you are the first team to check in,
you have won a First Class Pass.
It means you can
Salvage and Sabotage someone.
At this stage in the race,
it is super important,
because a Salvage will give a team
a massive advantage, as you know,
however a Sabotage
could cost someone the race.
So, choose wisely.
Congratulations, girls.
But you know the rules,
you have to wait with me on the mat.
Skye-Blue and Jake,
go rest undercover.
- Good luck, girls. - Bye.
- Well done, guys.
At this stage in the race,
it's a big decision on who
to Sabotage and who to Salvage.
I even feel really bad
opening them.
I'm struggling
to get through these oysters.
Ohhhhh. I'm gonna be crook tonight.
How's that penalty option looking,
Jacko?
Don't let him get into your head.
Just down 'em,
you're not gonna be sick.
You're doing good.
Think about it. How far behind
are we from the other teams?
- A lot.
- 20 minutes? 30 minutes?
- An hour.
- An hour?
So what's the penalty gonna be?
An hour?
And you won't be sick tomorrow.
Can you count how many I've got left?
- I don't think that's a good idea.
- Do you really want to know?
About 65.
65?!
Nah.
- Really?
- Yeah.
Brendon
- I'm dead serious.
- Up to you, bro. Whatever.
And we're way behind.
- Completely up to you.
- Let's go.
- Penalty?
- Yeah. Better off.
Yeah, brilliant.
They were obviously really happy.
But I wasn't.
But I thought it's the only right
decision, so we called it quits.
- Cheers, mate. - Thank you.
- Let's go.
"Make your way to Willow Court
and find Beau at your next Pit Stop.
"Hurry! The last team to arrive
may be eliminated."
- Let's do it.
- OK.
Excuse me, how do we get to
Willow Court Asylum?
I'll show you.
Go straight through,
you'll come to a roundabout,
- go straight through.
- Thanks, mate.
- He said just down this way.
- OK.
- What's it called?
- Willow Asylum.
Just get in front
and overtake Chris and Aleisha.
Just gotta cowboy up
and get it done.
It was dark.
All we had was a torch.
We're roaming around these grounds,
to find Beau, it was spooky.
The majority of the time
I hid behind MJ.
And then I got my big girl pants on.
- Where is it?
- 41. Just here. We're here.
And I was like, "Follow me."
Through here. Let's go.
Walk, walk, walk.
Girls
MJ and Chelsea, you're the third team
to check in.
- Awesome.
- Good job.
Alright, well done, girls.
I'll see you again soon.
You're still in the race.
Thanks, Beau.
- We just came out. Look, that's 27.
- This one here, right?
- This building here.
- This one?
- We go through.
- Second building on the right.
- Second building on the right.
- OK.
The boys. Wow.
Jaskirat and Anurag, you are
the fourth team to check in.
Well done, bro. Well done.
- Good work, boys. Good effort.
- Cheers, mate.
Let's go.
In here, babe.
Phwoar, did you see that hand?
- Where?
- Nah.
There's a hand back there.
- What's that thing?
- Don't be doing that.
Oh, my God. This is creepy as.
Failure is not an option.
We're here to win.
- There's a tree.
- That's probably 33.
- I think it's
- 29.
We're racing
to the finish line.
- How do you know this way?
- I don't know, babe.
Just emotions all over the place.
I don't know why you just
started running.
You said in here.
Hey, stop blaming everything on me,
OK?
- Are you reading that thing right?
- Yeah.
Hold up.
We've come from here,
so we've got to go up here.
This way, this way, this way.
Aleisha, wait for me.
- In the middle. I dunno.
- Why are they going that way?
- We can't go through.
- No.
- G'day.
- Hello.
Welcome to Willow Court Asylum.
- Thanks.
- Thank you.
Chris and Aleisha,
you are the fifth team to check in.
Which means you are second last,
so please remain on the mat.
Brendon and Jackson,
you are the last team to check in.
However, this is a predetermined
non-elimination leg.
Also, guys, because you quit
the oyster challenge,
you'd normally get a time penalty
on the mat,
but because you're both at the back
of the pack, it's void.
Alright, Ashleigh and Amanda, because
you were the first team to check in,
you have won a First Class Pass,
which means you have to now serve
a Salvage and a Sabotage.
Amanda,
who do you Sabotage?
Um we're giving the Sabotage
to Chris and Aleisha. So, yeah.
Not surprised. At all.
They've worked together every
single leg, so, we're not surprised.
I think they have the boys
wrapped around their finger.
Better be careful, boys.
Over to you, Ashleigh.
- Salvage to the Cowboys.
- Thank you. - Thanks.
We always work together and we would
never Sabotage you guys.
- Thank you.
- Thanks heaps.
To me that just isn't playing
a smart game.
That's playing a very strange
social game.
Well, what a day.
It's been a hectic Race,
I'm not gonna lie.
But we have the best six teams left.
Go rest and recover
and I'll see you again soon.
Chris and Aleisha, if anyone
can bounce back, it's you guys.
This is our third Sabotage.
Four out of six teams
are working together,
so, I mean, the odds are against us.
Work together and I'll see you
again soon, alright?
Ashleigh and Amanda, well done,
girls, and congratulations.
- Thanks, Beau.
- Thanks, Beau. See you next time.
See ya.
- Now let's go find ourselves some ghosts.
- Yes.
Next time on
The Amazing Race Australia
- Oh, mate.
- It's so cool.
..the teams travel
to the Tassie countryside.
We're on our way to see
some Tasmanian devils.
But will farm life
break the footy mates?
Or could a Super Sikh power play
Chris and Aleisha now have got
the Sabotage.
Do we U-turn them?
..finally spell the end
for the Geek and Princess?
You are the last team to check in.
Your time on the Race is over.
on the Amazing Race Australia
..teams arrived in Van Diemen's Land
We've never been to Tasmania.
..where steady hands
Oh, no!
..and a Full Monty Fast-Forward
Get nude with my bro.
Oh, my God!
..saw Skye-Blue and
Jake take out the win.
You are the first team to check in.
After today, there is nothing
I won't do for this race.
I'm here to win.
Tonight
- Whoa!
- ..it's high stakes
140 metres down.
..high pressure.
Seriously hard.
Go, go, go.
Oh!
Dammit!
With six tough teams remaining,
surviving this leg
will be harder than ever.
Oh!
Yes! Yes!
As they race through
the Apple Isle
It's nine degrees.
- Ugh!
- Are you freezing?
Ohh!
..tempers boil.
- Ohh, mate.
- Ooh.
But when teams work together
Shuck and eat 100 oysters.
Don't throw up. Just swallow it.
Bleugh!
..what will cause the Cowboys
- Oh!
- No, you're joking!
..to lose their cool?
It's a tactical decision.
Emotions all over the place.
Nah.
Don't let him get into your head.
That's just weak.
The Amazing Race Australia
is in gorgeous Tassie.
And the heart of this stunning island
is filled with
breathtaking mountains,
rainforests and lakes galore.
Including this one - Lake Pedder -
which is the largest inland storage
freshwater lake in Australia.
It holds 37 times the amount of water
of Sydney Harbour.
Teams have travelled from Hobart
to Lake Pedder Lookout,
and that is where they will begin
the 17th leg of
The Amazing Race Australia.
Come on.
OK, "Drive to Gordon Dam,
Australia's largest reservoir.
"Sink a basket from the edge
of the 140-metre-high wall
"to receive your next clue."
Let's get this on.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Our six remaining teams
are departing in the order
they finished the last leg,
and are on their way to Gordon Dam.
This challenge is really 'dam' high.
Our teams must come here,
to Tassie's tallest dam,
Gordon Dam -
a 140-metre-high
concrete curved arch dam.
Now, in this challenge,
teams must drop basketballs
140 metres down,
in the aim of landing it
in the net below.
And with that length of drop,
the swirling wind
has plenty of opportunity
to blow the ball off course.
Only once the ball is in the net
will they receive their next clue.
Come on, bro.
Run, Ashleigh!
Let's go!
- Gordon Dam.
- I think it was behind us.
It was back behind us, was it?
Have we already gone through it?
- Yeah.
- Beautiful.
We're getting closer to the end.
There's only six teams left.
We can almost smell the $250,000.
Today we're going to get out of last
position, work our way over the top.
That's where we belong.
Being sporty gals,
hopefully it pays off for us,
but there might be also a high
expectation on us to nail this.
We could be there all day.
Who knows?
We're stoked to be
second in today's leg
because always trying to aim
to be in that top three, if we can.
Hopefully we, um, get there
so we can see Jake and Skye-Blue
have their throw.
Gordon Dam.
Do you want to look on your map
to see if there's any
- Um there's nothing for this area.
- OK.
Our plan to stay at the top
of the pack was to minimise mistakes
and just get to the challenges
ahead of everyone else.
We can always pull over
on the side of the road
to see if a team
comes in behind us.
But then
But then it just
We lose our lead.
Yeah.
Gordon Dam wall is, like, all
the way down the end of this road.
I hope we can nail this quickly.
Me too. I hope we can make up
some spots today.
We started this leg in fifth, which
isn't exactly where we want to be.
We're down the back of the pack.
On the right track.
- We're here now.
- Yiew! Basketball! Here we go.
Where's Jake and Skye-Blue?
They must have turned the wrong way.
They must have gone back to
I don't know.
Let's get as many shots as we can
before another team gets here.
Yeah.
We left Pit Start in first place,
however, we were driving
for a while and
..couldn't really see
any cars behind us.
I hope we're going the right way.
There is every chance
that it was back the other way.
I don't I doubt it would be,
but there is every chance it is.
Alright. Let's get this done.
Here you go.
At Gordon Dam there was
just a bunch of basketballs
and our task was to put
the ball in the net at the bottom.
Yep.
140m down.
Too much.
- Ooh, that wind!
- That wind.
- Here, let me go again?
- I'll go.
Oh, you're gonna go?
Because we actually had
a few opportunities to throw
the basketballs off the dam
before any other teams got there
Way too much.
Every single throw was different.
- A little bit more. Oh, my gosh.
- That wind!
- It's changing every time.
- Yeah.
I see only one car there. Strange.
- Yeah. Only one car.
- That's very odd.
Lock. Just lock.
Let's go. We don't need to.
- I see people down there.
- Ball's there.
The ball's there. Let's go.
This is where we make up some time.
- Here we go. The boys are coming.
- OK.
Maybe just drop it right here.
- Get on! Get in!
- That's in!
- That's in!
- No!
What do we have to do now?
Maybe this side?
The Super Sikhs got there
and we started going shot for shot.
Oh, go, go.
The rule was
we had to wait behind the line
until they'd taken their shot.
We were hustling one another
to go as fast as possible
so we could get as many shots in
before the other teams arrived.
The quicker you go,
the quicker we can go.
Yep. Go.
Not enough power.
- Bad luck.
- Bit more power.
- Let's go. Good luck.
- Yeah. Far out.
Have you looked at
all the maps?
Couldn't even tell you
where Gordon Dam is from this.
We haven't passed that town yet,
have we, Skye?
No. We haven't passed any town yet.
Here we go.
What have we got here? Second car.
Third car.
- Beautiful.
- You got the clue?
- Yeah.
- Great.
- Let's go.
- Let's go.
Alright.
- Got the clue?
- Yep.
- Oh, my God.
- Whoa!
Leg it down there, bro.
Come on. Come on. Come on.
Dammit!
It's the right power, just left now.
Going way to the right.
So, don't go as far out as me,
but don't go as short as those boys.
So, you want a little bit more.
Come back.
That wind just
Bounces in, it bounces in!
Yes! Yes!
That's in, right?
Whoo!
Awesome.
- Thank you so much.
- Appreciate it.
Cheers, mate. Thank you.
Let's go. We'll read it up there.
Up the stairs.
- Yeah.
- Let's go.
- Well done, girls.
- Can I go?
- Good luck, guys.
- Good luck, girls.
And as we were leaving,
Amanda and Ashleigh
were running down the stairs,
followed by Chris and Aleisha.
- Let's go, ladies.
- Did you get it?
- Yep.
- Nice.
It doesn't have to bounce in.
It can roll in, so use the dam.
Awesome.
Hey, any tips? Did you spin it?
No, we just threw.
Just a light
The wind kind of changes a bit,
but just
Alright. Here you go.
- Ooh, detour.
- Detour. Alright.
The detour is a choice
between two challenges,
each with its own pros and cons.
Tasmania is known for
its cool climate fruit growing,
so our teams will now make their way
to the Westerway raspberry farm
to complete this detour.
They'll find the big raspberry,
marking the Apple Isle's
largest berry farm,
then decide between crush or crunch.
For the teams who choose crunch,
one team member must
get in a vat of near freezing water,
and without using their hands,
find one apple out of 100
with a dyed black core.
For the teams that choose crush,
they must pack 20 boxes of
raspberry puree,
weighed with precision
to exactly 10.5kg.
The boxes must be completely
mess free and ready for sale,
as determined by the supervisor.
Once complete,
they'll receive their next clue.
- Alright, let's go. Here we go.
- Alright. We know where we're going.
- OK.
- I don't know where the dam is.
Do you want to just turn around
and then if we see another car,
we can turn back around instead of
just waiting here for a car?
Yeah, maybe.
Alright, we'll just head back
and if we see cars,
we'll turn around
and go back this way.
We had gone the wrong way.
The fact that we haven't seen a car
yet is probably not a good sign.
Wow. Oh, boy.
Let's go, guys.
- Oh, he spun it.
- Come back, come back, come back
Yes!
Luck of the wind, I guess,
but we got it and we're out of there.
- Well done, boys.
- Beautiful.
Thanks mate. Thank you.
Appreciate it.
- Keep going, guys.
- How did you do it?
- How did you do it?
- I just a little I didn't roll it.
We were last to
leave at the start of the day.
Second team to leave
the first challenge.
Pretty sure if we do crush,
you've got to stomp the
- ..stomp them, don't you?
- Yeah. The store.
- Do you want to do that?
- Might be better.
Let's go.
It's annoying.
Gordon Dam.
Just like that.
We were at the top
and then we're at the bottom.
Come on, Skye.
Jake, how do we get down?
Let's go, guys!
The whole thing's the zone, babe.
Yeah, exactly that. Good boy.
Yes, yes.
Too far.
MJ and Chelsea I'd say got lucky.
Oh, the wind has died down,
Ashleigh.
So did the cowboys.
Oh, no.
- Yeah!
- Well done.
Get your clue, get your clue.
Get your clue, girls.
Get your clue.
Then so did Ashleigh and Amanda.
Thank you!
All of a sudden
- Crunch. OK.
- Let's go.
..there were three teams
left behind
Us, Chris and Aleisha
and Jake and Skye.
- How hard is it?
- It's hard because of the wind.
- The wind changes.
- Good luck.
First challenge, last to second.
- Not bad, hey?
- That's how we do it.
That's how we roll.
Is that another team in front of us?
- I wonder if that's MJ and Chelsea.
- Probably is.
That could be MJ and Chelsea.
It must be. By the look of it.
Hopefully we can, um, jump from
2nd to 1st after this challenge.
That's right.
- There's the raspberries.
- Oh, yeah.
Big sign right in front.
Straight across. There you go.
Oh, do you want to do
the apple bobbing? There it is.
What do you reckon?
Yeah, let's do it?
Alright, let's do it.
I think when we saw the apples
and Chels just said,
"Let's give this one a go."
- Uh, crunch.
- Crunch.
- You're getting in, right?
- Yeah.
- Here we go. What are we going?
- We're going crunch.
2, 4, 6, 8,
10, 12, 14, 16, 18
So what have we got?
Probably about 100 apples.
She's got to get in there
and it's going to be freezing.
Let's go, swimmer.
Come on.
So we have to It's going to be
black in the core.
Are you sure? Ice bath recovery.
OK. And if they go outside, I have
to pick it up with my mouth out here,
so don't knock them out.
Pretty friggin' cold.
- Looks good.
- Get him on there.
Big boy. Ha-ha!
Alright, let's go.
So the initial thing was about a box
and we added some wrapping
inside of it.
Start filling.
You got to take it over
Can we fill it over there?
And get 10.5kg in each box.
Keep going.
Jeez, you're slow.
- How many have we got to get?
- 20 boxes.
- 20 boxes.
- Yeah.
This is going to take forever.
It's It's absolute luck.
The wind
is blowing around everywhere.
Oh, so cold.
MJ, Chelsea,
the girls and cowboys have got it.
- Oh, no.
- Far out.
It was good knowing that we still
had a chance to jump up some places.
We've got to go like that,
under the bloody thing, OK?
Come on, come on.
Bounce off, bounce off, bounce off.
Come on.
Come on. You've got the right angle.
Keep going, keep going.
Wait, wait, wait
Come on. Alright, guys. Come on.
Nope. That's nowhere near. Ooh.
Ohh!
Come on.
Oh, the wind got that.
Yes!
Oh, well done!
We have been very lucky when it comes
to challenges like this.
Thank you so much, bro.
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
And this one
was more important than ever
because we'd just fallen
so far behind.
We arrived at the dam last
and we got it on our first attempt.
I reckon crunch.
- Crunch?
- Crunch.
Alright, let's do crunch.
Let's go.
OK, come on.
So, that's the corner one.
It was really, really,
really cold water.
I was absolutely freezing.
You've got to get under it.
Get under it with your head.
That's it. That's it.
I was scared to put my head under.
Good!
I've bitten that one.
At this point,
we'd bitten through about 50 apples.
No, that's a good one.
It felt like we were
getting nowhere.
- No.
- Check it again.
It's frickin' good.
I was struggling.
- Do you want to change detours?
- Nah.
What do you reckon?
How are you going?
Do you Do you want to go?
It's getting friggin' cold.
I've bitten that one.
That one.
Are you OK?
How are you going? Do you
Do you want to go?
It's getting frigging cold.
Another change to
Choose the other one?
- What do you want to do?
- The Detour
- The other Detour
- It's up to you.
- Just do it.
- Let's do it?
Let's switch it. Alright. Come on.
We're switching.
Let's go.
They must have got it.
Are they holding a clue?
- Are you guys changing?
- Oh, you've got to change.
- Nuh. You didn't get it?
- We're changing.
I mean, you might have luck
- How many did you bite into?
- Quite a few.
Ah, let's have a look.
MJ and Chelsea gave up
because they were too cold.
Alright. If you've got
a good feeling
We thought this is the one
we wanted to do.
It still looks fun.
Alright. I'm ready.
And we're not going to quit.
We don't quit.
Is it cold?
I'm in a bikini in a freezing cold
ice bucket bobbing apples.
It's really hard to get this.
Have we made a bad decision?
You try to do it.
My tactic's not working.
Go. Come on.
We were convinced we had missed.
Go, guys. Go, go, go.
So we let Chris and Aleisha
have their go.
But all of a sudden
- Wait Wait
- Come on. Go, go, go
- Yes! Yes!
- ..it went in.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
- Thank you.
- Good job, guys.
- Keep going, guys. Keep going.
- Thanks.
- Run, run.
- They're not that far ahead of us.
OK, Aleisha.
Just like that, we're in last place.
Goddammit.
Totally gutted.
Come on. Yes
- Yeah, alright. We're here now.
- OK.
Ready to rock'n'roll.
- Your raspberries are ready for you.
- Alright. Thank you.
Good scooping-upping.
Even though we lost time
by switching Detours,
we thought we could get in there,
smash out 20 boxes
and get out of there pretty quickly.
How's that other one?
I haven't checked it.
I'm just putting more in this one.
Yep.
10.50.
Idiot.
Did you see the weight?
Yep, perfect.
Alright. I'm going to count
the next one.
I tell you what, that sticky tape
was going to be the death of me.
Oh! Mate.
That thing was just frustrating.
Sticky tape and rubber gloves
does not work.
I'm about to snap
if this thing keeps doing that.
Oh, my God.
- Can you check it?
- Ugh!
Sorry. I'm sorry.
I was trying to wash it.
You had dirt all over it.
I did not mean to splash your face.
We were in that rain and the wind
and the water for a long time.
But mindset was everything.
No.
I just couldn't think I was cold.
There was no time for that.
No time to even fix mascara, people.
This is a race.
This is not a beauty pageant.
This is hilarious, by the way.
Is that a bad apple?
Oh, my God, yes.
That's the one.
- There you go.
- There you go.
- Thank you!
- Thanks, guys.
Let's go get warm.
Cold?
Oh, my God.
Aren't you freezing?
Yep.
- You gotta get warm.
- Yep. It's fine. I'll be fine.
Alright, um
- Do you want to do this first?
- Yep. Yep.
Ooh, that is cold.
"Intersection."
An Intersection is where
two teams must work together
to complete a challenge,
and for this Intersection, our teams
must make their way to New Norfolk,
to here, Australia's oldest
continuously operating hotel,
the Bush Inn.
And it opened back in 1815.
In this challenge,
teams must come here
to shuck and eat
100 of my favourite food
..oysters.
These bad boys are up there
with the best in the world,
and Tassie produces
36 million of them each year.
The key to this challenge is
strong hands and a strong stomach.
Once they're full to the brim,
they'll receive their next clue
..off my good mates,
twins Pete and Don.
You do know this is an aphrodisiac,
boys, right?
Oh, wow.
Let's go.
Ow! I hit my head!
Oh, my God.
Throwing them over the other side.
- Got it?
- Got it.
We never have an issue
when it comes to challenges.
Here we go.
Bit of blind luck again.
Hello.
Hold it, hold it
Yep. That's the one.
- Awesome!
- Thank you very much.
- Thank you very much. Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
Intersection.
"Shuck and eat 100 fresh Tasmanian
oysters to earn your next clue."
Yuck. Ohhhh, yuck!
Oh.
Come on. Go. Go, go, go.
Wait.
Oh, my God.
- Yes!
- Finally!
- Awesome. Thank you so much.
- Thank you. Thank you very much.
That sucked.
It was just a little bit
of a luck challenge,
and we haven't been very lucky.
- I think we're pretty far back now.
- Yeah.
It felt hopeless, you know.
They were so far ahead of us.
We just got really unlucky.
Oh!
12, 14
Alright. This is number 15.
- You got five more to go.
- Yep.
We're getting down to the bottom
of our crate, that's for sure.
It's the last one, bro.
All of our boxes were packed
and they were ready to get checked.
20 boxes.
Thank God, because we've been
here for about an hour, 20 minutes.
I'll get the trolley.
Old man put the pallet
full on the scales and got a weight.
All our weights were spot-on.
And then he started
pulling them out individually
and was getting a pretty good little
pile going over the right side.
These ones I can sell.
These ones I can't sell.
- Is that because the box is dirty?
- You just need to change the box.
Righto.
I wasn't real impressed.
Oh, mate.
I think we chose the wrong Detour.
Getting a bit cold outside.
It's nine degrees.
OK, go.
That water was cold.
- Ready?
- That water was real cold.
Use the corner.
Initially we tried out a strategy
where Anurag would grab the apple
with his teeth, reach up,
and I would grab the apple
on the other side and bite it off.
Within about three seconds,
we realised
..there needs to be another way
of doing it.
I want you to start
throwing them out.
Bite into it and throw it out.
OK?
OK, let's hustle.
When we got to
the raspberry factory
Some people are here, babe.
Some people are here.
..and we saw MJ and Chelsea
and we also saw the cowboys,
and we thought, "Might be able to
close the gap a little bit on them."
I took as many boxes as I could
carry all at the same time.
And I got two scoops
and I just got in there
and filled up
just as fast as I could.
All we could think was,
"Try to catch up.
"Just go as fast
as you possibly can."
100 oysters.
For the 250K, I'll eat anything.
100? That's a lot.
You've never eaten an oyster before,
have you, Skye?
No. They're just like
big, giant boogers.
They're just slimy and goobey
and just
Alright. I feel
- Yeah, that's it.
- That's it?
Yeah.
We actually arrived first.
Let's go, Skye.
But Ashleigh and Amanda
were right behind us.
From what we could gather,
we were the first two teams.
I'm happy to team up
with these lovely lasses.
Let's do it!
- Let's do it!
- Whoo!
It worked in our favour,
to arrive with them.
Oysters
Alright. Do it. Let's go.
Hopefully not all make out
because of the aphrodisiacs.
Not only did we have to eat
all 100 oysters
- One of these each, I guess.
- I think so.
..we also had to shuck
every single one of them as well.
I don't know how to shuck these.
- Yeah, how the hell are you
- Brute force.
Oh, yes! Look! Brute force.
It just worked.
Jake, you're a genius.
Look at it wiggle.
My first-ever oyster experience
..was not a great one.
Bleugh.
Same.
This is the best challenge ever!
I just ate my own vomit.
Oh, that's a big one.
Think so.
I'm getting really quick at this.
I'll be like, "Skye, just don't
throw up. Just swallow it."
It's fine. It's fine.
We're not even halfway
through that massive pile
and Skye is already
in a world of pain.
She was vomiting, dry retching..
She was struggling to open the
All things were tough on this one.
Yuck!
I feel like a dog.
I was grabbing these apples,
throwing them away.
It was insane.
I wanted to get out of this
as soon as possible.
Oh, I found it.
I think I found it!
That's the right one.
Goddammit! Yes!
- Yes!
- Yep, that's it.
YESSSSSS!
You look like you've got
blood all over you.
The raspberry packing looked like
a bit of a murder scene.
Lots of mess. Look at me.
I'm completely raspberried out.
- How many have you got left up there?
- Three.
These boxes
have to be clean.
We don't want to be repacking
any boxes.
Yoo!
How good's that?
Girls are nearly done.
That one's done too, bro.
'Cause the Cowboys were sent back
to repack their boxes, we thought,
"This is our chance.
We could overtake them here."
All the way to the back, MJ.
And stop.
Perfect.
Congratulations. I can sell
your pallet of raspberries.
- Thank you. Thank you so much.
- Thank you. Oh, I'm sorry.
- Thank you. See ya.
- Thank you.
Intersection. "Shuck and eat 100 fresh
Tasmanian oysters to earn your next clue."
- Wait, eat them? Yes!
- Let's go.
That's it.
Righto.
So we changed the boxes over,
come back out,
and we just slapped them back down
on the pallet and he'd re-weigh it.
Congratulations, fellas.
- Thank you, mate.
- Very good.
Thanks, mate. Let's go.
- Rightio.
- Intersection.
Can you move that shitty one there?
This one closest to me,
closest to me, closest to me.
We knew we were in last place
at this point.
- So is this one ready to tie?
- That one's fine.
OK.
So we were just pushing through
and trying to get the boxes right
and do the best we can.
Yeah. Trying to make up
any kind of time that we could.
Oh.
It's just we can't catch up.
I'm actually starting
to feel sick now.
I don't know how many more
I can eat.
Swallow!
Take the keys with you, yeah?
I can hear people
Alright. We need to hurry.
How are you, mate?
Oh, we gotta wait for 'em?
We knew Chris and Aleisha
were behind us
so probably going to be working
with them.
They're vegan. They're not
going to have any oysters.
We'll have to eat 50 each.
I can see
Who's that going past?
The keys?
- Is that MJ and Chelsea?
- No way. Hold on.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Oh, hey!
I love you girls. I love you girls.
I love you girls! Let's do it!
Congratulations.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you very much.
Intersection.
"Shuck and eat 100 fresh Tasmanian
oysters to earn your next clue."
If we have to work
with Chris and Aleisha
They're vegans.
They don't eat them.
You get a choice.
You don't have to work with them.
No, I know, but if we're going fifth
and they're sixth,
we have to work with them.
- Ahh
- You know what I mean?
Hopefully there's another team
back there
so we're getting here fourth
or third.
Now we've got competition here.
No more fun and games.
How are we, girls?
And guys? OK.
Oh, my God.
I think that was a good indication
of how it was going.
Just get it down.
Ooh. Oh.
Last one!
I can confirm I will never be
ordering oysters ever.
"Make your way
to Willow Court Asylum."
"Navigate through the building
using a map
"to find Beau
at your next Pit Stop."
"Hurry! The last team to arrive
may be eliminated."
Alright. Let's go.
The Willow Court Asylum first
opened its doors way back in 1827.
But then it shut in the year 2000.
This is Tasmania's most haunted site,
and to reach the Pit Stop,
teams must navigate their way
through a pitch-black maze
of corridors and eerie mental wards
while bravely avoiding
creepy distractions.
Ahhhh!
Once they've found the exit,
they'll make their way out
to the barracks behind the asylum,
where I'll be waiting
at the 17th Pit Stop
of The Amazing Race Australia.
But beware
..the paranormal activity
in this building is real.
What was that?
Willow Court Asylum.
Feel so sick.
- Straight up this road?
- I guess so.
I would love some lemon and just
someone else to shuck these for me.
I definitely
don't have this technique right.
I was shucking abysmal.
Oh, my God.
Excuse me, yo!
Do you have table etiquette, mate?
Me? What etiquette?
Have you seen this table?
We're coming last anyway,
so even if we don't
do this challenge
and we take a penalty,
what's the difference?
That's true.
And I'd rather take a penalty
than than handle oysters
and prepare oysters
for someone else.
Hopefully we get up here and we're
not working with Chris and Aleisha,
'cause we're not at the back
of the pack, then, you know?
Yeah. True that.
We might be right.
We have to find Beau.
Oh, there's a race flag there.
- Where?
- Straight ahead.
Arriving in the asylum,
it was a running race with the girls.
Torch, map.
We could see on the map that
Beau was somewhere in the asylum,
but we had to get through
all the crazy buildings to find him.
Yeah, I know where to go, guys.
You don't need to just follow them,
Skye.
- I just want to sit here.
- Never listens.
Cheers, guys. Last one.
- Cheers. Salut.
- Cheers. Here we go.
Thank you very much, mate.
We got here before
the other guys got here.
- Well done.
- Good job.
- Alright. Awesome. Thanks, mate!
- Let's go, let's go, let's go!
"Make your way
to Willow Court Asylum."
"Hurry!
The last may be eliminated."
Hey, you guys.
Ah, you gotta wait for Aleisha
- Oh!
- No! You're joking!
Good luck.
Chose the wrong Detour, didn't we?
I love oysters.
Brendan doesn't eat seafood
but he was willing to try.
Never had 'em before.
We are going to be with Chris
and Aleisha, who are vegans.
I just thought, "Here we go."
We're up shit creek
without a paddle, that's for sure.
Oh, we've been fuming.
We've got to work with Chris and Aleisha,
two vegans who won't eat oysters.
Not real impressed meself having to
work with a set of vegans, but anyway
What you thinking?
I'm thinking that we'll just ask
the boys what they want to do, hey?
We were quite nervous
because we don't eat oysters.
Hey, boys. How you going?
You're not playing pool or anything?
Nah.
We're waiting. Let's go.
That sucks that you had to
wait for us.
- Righto, let's go.
- Go this way, mate.
Hello. Thank you.
So, obviously, we can't eat oysters.
- You will be eating some.
- There's no such thing as can't.
No, boys
You wanna win 250 grand or
what? 250,000 - you gotta eat those.
So, either you guys eat 100 oysters
or we take a penalty.
I'm not taking a penalty.
It's just
I'm so sorry, but we
really can't eat them.
Can you shuck them?
We can, but we won't eat them.
I don't think you've fully
thought out the penalty situation.
- I don't want a penalty.
- Why?
Because I want to eat 'em all.
I don't like quitting
and I wanna do it.
- But we're
- There's no such thing as can't.
Come on, we're losing
time. Start busting them open.
Yeah, we're losing time.
We decided with the boys
that we would shuck them.
- And they could eat as many as they want.
- Yeah.
You shuck 'em, we'll eat 'em.
You sure, boys, because
I don't want you to be sick.
I've never had 'em before.
I'll be fine. I'm not quitting.
- Skye and Jake are coming down here.
- Where? Hang on.
That's the girls
in front of us.
- This one, this one. I can see a flag.
- Oh, yes.
I need more light.
Ash. Wanna come here?
Everything was so dilapidated.
There was broken bricks,
there was cracked windows.
It was so eerie and quiet.
Oh, God. What is that?
- It's a possum.
- OK, keep going, keep going.
Shh. Shh.
Down here. Down here.
Oh, my God.
Even with a map, it was impossible
to get our bearings.
Wait. I can hear something.
Then you hear this little kid, I don't
know if it was laughing or talking.
That's creepy.
There was this creepy as doll,
just nee-nee-nee-nee-nee.
It was creepy.
Just reminded me of Skye.
Who wants this one?
- Righto, mate? - Sit 'em over here.
- I'll give it a go.
If not, Jacko's gonna be
eating a lot.
What, I down all that?
Pick it up on your knife,
straight in your mouth.
- Just like that?
- Yeah. Straight in the mouth.
- Or just suck it like
- I ain't sucking it.
My very first oyster on national TV.
Do you like it?
Get us a drink, eh?
You want me to get you a drink?
I'm the eater.
I can get it. I'll go get it.
What do you want?
He'll be right.
Straight down the hatch.
Do you need water?
I'm gonna stick to
shucking them, brother.
I'm sorry, dude.
That is puss.
- I didn't think he would, but he did.
- Oh, mate.
So I was over the moon that he
just tried, but he couldn't stomach them.
Puss.
You don't reckon you can stomach
a few more?
Oh, no.
Will not try it again. Nah.
- You weren't a fan, were you?
- Was not a fan.
Is that penalty looking pretty good?
Just 'cause it might make you sick
if you have to eat 100, that's all.
I don't see why Jackson feels he needs to
prove something by eating all 99 oysters.
We knew we were in last place
at this point.
Where are we going now?
Go, go, go, go, go.
We arrived at the mental asylum.
Oh, where did they go?
Around that corner.
Should we follow them?
- OK, come.
- It was spooky as.
This joint's pretty bloody creepy,
mate.
This is super scary.
What's the scariest place
in the asylum?
I would have to say Ward C.
What the hell?
I'm not touching that.
Don't touch anything. Holy shit.
- And is that where the?
- Criminally insane male ward.
- Criminally insane male?
- Yeah.
- This is a morgue. This is super scary.
- Very spooky.
This is getting scarier and scarier
by the minute.
I've never seen something
like this before.
I've been in a few mental
places, but not like this.
Yeah.
Let's go, let's go.
We finally found our exit.
- Do you know where to go?
- No.
It's pitch black,
we can't see anything.
Now we just have to find Beau.
I think we need to keep going down.
- Yeah?
- I don't know, babe.
I'm, like, you're the one
looking at the map.
OK, well, you're holding the map
right now,
- so just tell me what you're thinking.
- Is this the avenue?
This is the
one we just came out of, yeah?
No.
Your sense of direction is terrible.
Ash, Ash, Ash.
Quick.
Oh, my God.
We worked out where we needed to go
and Skye and Jake were still
kind of looking at their map.
So we overtook them in that moment.
- Look for 41, Skye.
- That's right here.
Let's go!
That way. That way. That way.
Wow. Wow.
Welcome to Willow Court Asylum.
Thank you.
Ashleigh and Amanda,
you are the first team to check in.
Whoo!
Skye-Blue and Jake,
second team to check in.
Great work, Skye. Good job.
- Good work, guys.
- Well done, guys.
Now, Ashleigh and Amanda, because
you are the first team to check in,
you have won a First Class Pass.
It means you can
Salvage and Sabotage someone.
At this stage in the race,
it is super important,
because a Salvage will give a team
a massive advantage, as you know,
however a Sabotage
could cost someone the race.
So, choose wisely.
Congratulations, girls.
But you know the rules,
you have to wait with me on the mat.
Skye-Blue and Jake,
go rest undercover.
- Good luck, girls. - Bye.
- Well done, guys.
At this stage in the race,
it's a big decision on who
to Sabotage and who to Salvage.
I even feel really bad
opening them.
I'm struggling
to get through these oysters.
Ohhhhh. I'm gonna be crook tonight.
How's that penalty option looking,
Jacko?
Don't let him get into your head.
Just down 'em,
you're not gonna be sick.
You're doing good.
Think about it. How far behind
are we from the other teams?
- A lot.
- 20 minutes? 30 minutes?
- An hour.
- An hour?
So what's the penalty gonna be?
An hour?
And you won't be sick tomorrow.
Can you count how many I've got left?
- I don't think that's a good idea.
- Do you really want to know?
About 65.
65?!
Nah.
- Really?
- Yeah.
Brendon
- I'm dead serious.
- Up to you, bro. Whatever.
And we're way behind.
- Completely up to you.
- Let's go.
- Penalty?
- Yeah. Better off.
Yeah, brilliant.
They were obviously really happy.
But I wasn't.
But I thought it's the only right
decision, so we called it quits.
- Cheers, mate. - Thank you.
- Let's go.
"Make your way to Willow Court
and find Beau at your next Pit Stop.
"Hurry! The last team to arrive
may be eliminated."
- Let's do it.
- OK.
Excuse me, how do we get to
Willow Court Asylum?
I'll show you.
Go straight through,
you'll come to a roundabout,
- go straight through.
- Thanks, mate.
- He said just down this way.
- OK.
- What's it called?
- Willow Asylum.
Just get in front
and overtake Chris and Aleisha.
Just gotta cowboy up
and get it done.
It was dark.
All we had was a torch.
We're roaming around these grounds,
to find Beau, it was spooky.
The majority of the time
I hid behind MJ.
And then I got my big girl pants on.
- Where is it?
- 41. Just here. We're here.
And I was like, "Follow me."
Through here. Let's go.
Walk, walk, walk.
Girls
MJ and Chelsea, you're the third team
to check in.
- Awesome.
- Good job.
Alright, well done, girls.
I'll see you again soon.
You're still in the race.
Thanks, Beau.
- We just came out. Look, that's 27.
- This one here, right?
- This building here.
- This one?
- We go through.
- Second building on the right.
- Second building on the right.
- OK.
The boys. Wow.
Jaskirat and Anurag, you are
the fourth team to check in.
Well done, bro. Well done.
- Good work, boys. Good effort.
- Cheers, mate.
Let's go.
In here, babe.
Phwoar, did you see that hand?
- Where?
- Nah.
There's a hand back there.
- What's that thing?
- Don't be doing that.
Oh, my God. This is creepy as.
Failure is not an option.
We're here to win.
- There's a tree.
- That's probably 33.
- I think it's
- 29.
We're racing
to the finish line.
- How do you know this way?
- I don't know, babe.
Just emotions all over the place.
I don't know why you just
started running.
You said in here.
Hey, stop blaming everything on me,
OK?
- Are you reading that thing right?
- Yeah.
Hold up.
We've come from here,
so we've got to go up here.
This way, this way, this way.
Aleisha, wait for me.
- In the middle. I dunno.
- Why are they going that way?
- We can't go through.
- No.
- G'day.
- Hello.
Welcome to Willow Court Asylum.
- Thanks.
- Thank you.
Chris and Aleisha,
you are the fifth team to check in.
Which means you are second last,
so please remain on the mat.
Brendon and Jackson,
you are the last team to check in.
However, this is a predetermined
non-elimination leg.
Also, guys, because you quit
the oyster challenge,
you'd normally get a time penalty
on the mat,
but because you're both at the back
of the pack, it's void.
Alright, Ashleigh and Amanda, because
you were the first team to check in,
you have won a First Class Pass,
which means you have to now serve
a Salvage and a Sabotage.
Amanda,
who do you Sabotage?
Um we're giving the Sabotage
to Chris and Aleisha. So, yeah.
Not surprised. At all.
They've worked together every
single leg, so, we're not surprised.
I think they have the boys
wrapped around their finger.
Better be careful, boys.
Over to you, Ashleigh.
- Salvage to the Cowboys.
- Thank you. - Thanks.
We always work together and we would
never Sabotage you guys.
- Thank you.
- Thanks heaps.
To me that just isn't playing
a smart game.
That's playing a very strange
social game.
Well, what a day.
It's been a hectic Race,
I'm not gonna lie.
But we have the best six teams left.
Go rest and recover
and I'll see you again soon.
Chris and Aleisha, if anyone
can bounce back, it's you guys.
This is our third Sabotage.
Four out of six teams
are working together,
so, I mean, the odds are against us.
Work together and I'll see you
again soon, alright?
Ashleigh and Amanda, well done,
girls, and congratulations.
- Thanks, Beau.
- Thanks, Beau. See you next time.
See ya.
- Now let's go find ourselves some ghosts.
- Yes.
Next time on
The Amazing Race Australia
- Oh, mate.
- It's so cool.
..the teams travel
to the Tassie countryside.
We're on our way to see
some Tasmanian devils.
But will farm life
break the footy mates?
Or could a Super Sikh power play
Chris and Aleisha now have got
the Sabotage.
Do we U-turn them?
..finally spell the end
for the Geek and Princess?
You are the last team to check in.
Your time on the Race is over.
