The Amazing Race Australia (2011) s06e03 Episode Script
Season 6, Episode 3
1
This is Chefchaouen
..known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco.
A gorgeous city with
cobalt-stained streets
set amidst the majestic
Rif Mountains,
a place rich in beauty and history.
Established in 1471,
it received its distinctive
blue colour
in 1492,
when the Jewish people, who were
escaping the Spanish Inquisition,
decided to decorate the town blue
in honour of the sky and heaven.
It's the location for the third leg
of the Amazing Race Australia
and a world first.
A record-breaking 18 teams
are about to battle it out.
It's the most teams ever assembled,
racing for the biggest prize
in Amazing Race Australia history.
Go!
And it all started two days ago,
when 10 teams of racers
left from Melbourne
to compete in the Moroccan city
of Ouarzazate.
Break through!
Yeah!
After a furious race to the finish
Kelly and Georgia, you are
the first team to check in.
..the surviving nine teams
received their next clue.
"Make your way to
Chefchaochaouen."
Chef-chao-own?
Chef Cohen?
Now the Melbourne racers
have made their way here,
to Chefchaouen.
Nearly there. Last climb.
There is nothing up here.
No-one really knew
what was going on.
We did it, guys. Good job.
Something real bad's
about to happen.
I'm actually scared.
You're so dramatic.
And then we're just left
to sit there.
And we have to keep sitting there.
Come on. Can't wait all day!
We know something's up.
I have a horrible feeling
a surprise elimination.
I legit reckon something big
is about to happen.
Ahh! I don't like it!
Just expect
the unexpected, hey?
But what they don't know
is two days ago,
another group of 10 teams
set sail from Sydney
for their own first leg in Marrakech.
Yay!
Thank you!
Angel and Frankie, you are
the first team to check in!
And the nine remaining teams
of Sydney racers
received their next clue.
"Make your way to Chefchaouen."
"Chefchaouen."
"The Blue City of Morocco."
Neither Melbourne nor Sydney
have any clue
the other racers exist.
Now they're in for
one hell of a shock.
The clue says that we're
going to 'Chefcharon'.
'Chefchaouen'. It's not Sharon!
How to Aussie it down!
We didn't know how far away it was.
What goes up must come down, right?
I kind of was in game mode,
so I was counting the steps
and then I was looking out
to the buildings, trying
to see if there was a flag.
Oh, look at that!
Whoa.
Beautiful!
That's so nice.
What do you reckon
the challenge is gonna be?
We're going to the mosque.
You right?
Going up to thethe mosque,
I had a feeling, like,
"Something's wrong."
We gotta be prepared for
anything when we get up there.
Something else might change.
Someone's walking up.
What?
Um, spread the news!
There's people coming up.
Like, multiple.
Whoa! It is too!
One, two, three
Is this a joke?
Look how many there are!
Oh, what? Nine?
What do we do?
Do we stand here all staunch?
Do we talk to them? Do we say hello?
We were so confused.
Oh, my gosh!
Who are these people?
Oh, what about that surprise that
we got at the top of the mosque?
When I walked up there, I was, like,
"Wait, who are you guys?"
Uh, what?
Do they not know we're here?
What the
I was not expecting this twist, man.
We're like, "There better not
be another Asian team!"
Well, we can be
the original Asians, OK?
What is happening?!
We saw nine other teams
in similar get-up.
I said to them, "Are you
the American team?
"Are you the New Zealand team?"
They opened their mouth
We started in Melbourne.
We started in Melbourne.
It was Australian.
We're all Australian too.
And we've been racing in Morocco.
Mind blown.
I'm traumatised.
Hi!
Have youse been competing?
Yeah.
So you've actually been racing?
Yeah.
Oh!
You guys have not been racing.
I don't believe you for a second.
Oh, OK! Alright. Alright.
What the actual hell?
That's not the energy we've been
going with, but alright.
So the orange team, she was a bit
full-on when she introduced herself,
and it came across quite
rudely and bitchy.
Immediately, I was, like,
"If you're gonna be a bitch,
I'm gonna be a bitch."
No-one likes us.
'Cause they're threatened,
that's why.
This surely has to be
an Amazing Race first, though.
We thought we were, like,
a shoo-in with only 10 teams!
I'm still just tripping out!
Well, well, well!
Oh, my God.
Oh, here he is!
You!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Half the teams began in Melbourne
two days ago
and half began in Sydney.
And until this point, you've been
racing across Morocco in parallel.
Madness!
Now, if you're serious
about winning this show,
your time to step up is right now.
You were all racing separately,
but now all 18 teams will be
competing for the 250 grand cash
and an Isuzu D-MAX
and an Isuzu MU-X.
Melbourne and Sydney,
combine.
We've got this. We've got this.
Yeah.
I suggest you take
this moment right now
and have a look around
and see who your real competition is.
Now you are all finally here,
the race can begin.
It's time to show me
what you are really made of.
Are you ready?
Here is your next clue.
Cheers, Beau.
Thank you, Beau.
Alright, that's enough chat.
Let's get down to business.
Race hard.
Race safe.
Good luck.
Three, two, one, go!
Alright, "Route Info."
"Make your way to
the Plaza Uta el Hamman."
In this challenge,
teams must come here
to Plaza Uta el Hamman square
in Morocco
and meet my good friends
the Gnawa dancers.
They must learn and perform
the traditional Gnawa dance
to the live Gnawa beats,
a blend of classical
Islamic Sufi music
with ancient African influences.
It's traditionally performed
at communal nights of prayer
and healing.
Wearing a fez, teams must keep
their tassels spinning
continuously for 90 seconds
twice between them.
They do that,
they'll receive their next clue.
Sounds easy, right?
Watch this unfold.
Oh!
Alright, brother. Let's go.
Let's go.
Just watch the steps.
Oh!
They take no prisoners, for real.
I was just, like, shocked.
You have this idea in your head
that yes, you have
a 1-in-9 chance of winning,
and now it's 1-in-18.
This is on like Donkey Kong!
On like Donkey Kong!
Oh, my gosh.
Stay focused.
Yep.
Everyone is moving fast.
I kept saying, "Jodie,
where's the old ones?
"Where are the old people?"
They're all young and fit
and healthy and competitive.
We are continually
the older ladies.
Oi, boys, boys, boys.
Make sure - let's help each other out
as much as we can, this one.
I think the vibe straightaway,
though, is Melbourne vs Sydney,
and it's on.
So, yeah, we just gotta
really rip in and refocus.
The view is absolutely stunning.
Absolutely insane.
Even with the sun down, you can
still see the blue in the houses.
It would have looked
so much more beautiful
if there were only
10 teams here, though.
Come on, keep pushing.
Push, push, push, push, push.
We need to find ourselves
the main square
and then we need to find the dancers.
Whoop!
Excuse me!
Town centre?
Yeah.
Thank you!
Uta elel Hamman?
Uta el Hamman?
Yes.
This one?
You guys speak English?
This way, this way.
Thank you! Thank you.
Hello!
Yep, let's go, let's go, let's go.
Stuey!
Go, guys. Go, guys.
Go, go. Main square!
I can hear the music, baby.
It must be down there. The dancers.
I think it is.
That's what I said. Gotta
read through so you get an idea.
It was really hectic.
There was a lot of loud noise.
There was a big square
full of people.
Yeah, the music's pumping.
It was the most chaotic energy.
"Find the 'Gwana' dancers."
Yeah, we've put the bags down.
We're here. Look, the hats.
"Watch the traditional
'Gwana' dance.
"Learn how to swing the tassel
on top of the head."
"Together, you must spin the tassel
continuously
"for two times 90 seconds
between you."
Practise as much as you can
before you perform.
You gotta practise.
Spin your necks. Bend your legs.
Did you get a tight one?
Show me.
Like that.
It's not spinning.
Yep, now try it. Go.
Yeah, is that comfortable?
You've gotta stay comfortable.
Don't touch your head. Keep that
groove, keep that groove.
Oh! Come on, Ange.
It keeps falling off my head.
Yeah, it's 90 seconds, Ange.
You've gotta keep going.
Longest 90 seconds of my life.
I do not think
I looked cute in the fez.
Our head was already in a spin
from finding out there were
another nine teams.
And now we have more spinning to do!
We were just spin, spin, spin.
Spin it around. Yeah?
Uh, I blew it!
I still haven't seen any flags,
Lauren.
Yeah, all the locals
are pointing this way.
Getting louder.
Ooh! Ohh!
Oh, Tones! Oh, Tones!
Are you alright?
Are you alright?
Are you OK? Relax, relax.
She hit her
Ohh!
Oh, Tones! Oh, Tones!
No, she hit her head.
OK, alright. Just hold on.
No.
OK, hold on. Hold on.
No, I'm fine.
No, just sit for a sec.
You're gonna have to sit.
Heath, I'm fine!
Please sit for a second.
I just went into full
Husband.
Husband mode.
Sit.
OK.
We've gone through enough
in the last year,
and that just absolutely threw me!
I banged my head, Heath.
You banged your head.
What if we take her bag?
Yeah.
Yep.
Let's go.
Oh, girls, thank you.
Don't stress. It's alright.
Thanks, girls.
Bag?
Yep.
Sit down.
No. Come on.
Toni
Heath!
Toni!
Can we just walk?
No running. No running.
Yeah. Yeah.
He's always worried about me,
but he looked pretty
..kind of shaken.
And I was, like, "Let's crack on!
Let's go!"
Are you right?
I don't know, but thank you.
Alright.
Look, look! Watch, watch!
Watch, watch, watch, watch.
It's too small!
Hats? We need hats.
Hats? Go to the right.
I just realised how ridiculous
we look.
Coming into this, we both said that
whatever dance we first do,
we're gonna do it at our wedding,
'cause it'd be hilarious
as our first dance.
Argh!
I was doing it! My hat fell off.
Just, like, it takes one split
second for it to lose its rhythm.
Find your motion.
And then it just stops.
Yeah.
You've got it.
Are you good? Are you good?
Are you ready, Ange?
Yeah.
Here.
Here, here!
We're ready.
We need our judge.
Ready, set, go.
Yeah, let's go!
Shush.
OK. Sorry, sorry.
Quiet, quiet.
Just keep
You're good, you're good.
We're nearly there, we're nearly
there, we're nearly there.
Got it. You got it.
Don't lose it. Keep moving.
We're nearly there, Ange.
We're nearly there.
Oh!
Oh, my God!
Come on, Ange. Don't stress.
We're alright. We're good.
I felt my mind slip away.
Having these teams added in and the
pressure that's been put on us
I just need to stay focused.
We were actually really good
at spinning these hats.
Surprisingly enough!
Being mums.
You are constantly going
"No! No!"
"Pick that up! Go and get it!
Don't do that!"
Yep.
Oh, here. We'll go next.
Was it 90 seconds between us?
Yeah, times two.
Ready, set, go.
Is mine going?
Yes, yours is good.
Just don't ever change your rhythm.
Yeah!
We came first in a challenge
out of, now, 18 teams.
"Road Block. Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll do it!
OK!
You right with that?
Yeah!
A Road Block is a challenge
only one team member
must choose to complete
based on a cryptic clue.
But first, teams must find
Aladdin's cave of soap
to reserve their place
in tomorrow's challenge.
Teams will be competing
three at a time,
so if they get there late,
they'll be waiting a long time
for their shot.
OK, we're looking for
a soap shop anyway.
Is that soap?
Soap?
That's it. Aladdin
Sorry, shop is closed.
Huh?
Come back tomorrow.
Oh, no! Take a number. Oh.
Number 1! We got number 1!
Number 1!
Thank you so much!
We get to do it tomorrow.
Yay!
Yay! Ha!
We are competitive.
For the people our age
sitting around at home,
thinking they can't do things,
like, look at us.
Go!
We started dragon-boating
about six years ago
and I was almost in my 50s then.
Life experience says a lot.
And I think that's the kinda stuff
you bring to The Amazing Race.
So there's an element of fitness.
OK, we didn't get that bit,
but we have a lot of intelligence.
Let's go. This is our hotel.
Yeah, we've got this.
We've got it.
Kylie and Dannii does it.
18 teams!
Oh, my God, I'm so proud of you.
OK, let's check in.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Hello! Bonjour!
We good? We gotta go for 90 seconds.
Don't go too fast!
Don't go too fast.
Oh, my hat's gonna fall off.
Go down! Go down if you have to.
Oh! Yes!
Whoo!
Whoo-hoo!
OK, pull it, pull it, pull it.
- Here we go.
- "Road Block.
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll do it.
Argh! Sorry, babe.
Keep going! Oh, you
should have kept going.
"Together, you must spin the tassel
continuously
"for two times 90 seconds
between you."
You can do it twice.
Thank you!
"Road Block."
I'll scrub, I'll scrub.
Go, I'll scrub.
"Channel Bob Marley." And she's just
bobbing her head, like, "Yeah."
Oh, thank God!
Thank you! Thank you, thank you!
Oh, my God!
"Road Block."
Alright, I'll do it.
Oh!
Focus.
We've gotta do it together.
I know. OK.
Yeah, do it!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Yay!
It's a Road Block.
Alright, I'll do it.
Me. Me, me, me.
Lilli does!
You wanna do it?
I'll do it.
Alright, let's go.
- Keep going, keep going.
- Arrgh!
Tones, there's still other teams
here, so it's all good.
I know.
Yeah!
Yeah!
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I do! I haven't showered!
You're gonna do it. Jamus,
you're gonna do it, yeah? Yeah.
It was just
the most frustrating thing.
We see, you know,
one team get through.
Yay!
And then another team get through.
Yay!
But you just can't give up.
We're doing really, really well.
Really well.
We're getting there, it's just
It's gonna get done.
"Road Block."
I'll do it? I'll do it.
Kelly, yeah.
Yeah, I'll do it.
Me. I need a good scrub.
I'll do it?
I think you do too.
Let's do it, baby. Let's go!
Thank you!
Whoo! Yes! Yes, bro, yes!
"Road Block."
Well, it's gotta be me, doesn't it?
"Road Block." I'll do it.
We're down at the bottom two.
Like, jeez, Louise.
And my head hurts
and my knee's bleeding.
Just go back and forth
and back and forth.
Like, let's just focus
and get this done.
I think I've got it now, Heath.
Let's go.
I need a smaller hat.
Go, go, go, go.
I'm so close! It just stopped, man.
It's so hard!
Try a purple one, honey.
I've tried them all, darlin'.
Oh, that one looks bigger,
potentially.
No, that's bigger.
Thank you so much.
Oh, my God!
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Come on, quick.
Toni was just a machine.
Like, she did it.
She doesn't know when to quit.
"Who needs a good scrub?" Me.
I need a scrub. I'm filthy.
Come on, let's go. Let's go.
Thank you.
Alright, so that's it. You're done.
Knock-off.
If you're not comfortable
No, I'm a bit of a mess.
It's alright.
Let's go get the medic.
Thanks for carrying my bag.
That's alright!
Can't believe I stacked it!
Yeah, but you hit your head
really hard.
I know I did. I felt
How are we
the last people here?
Gotta keep trying.
OK.
If I go home 'cause of
this dumb hat
Nuh. Ohh
I don't know what to do at
this point, to be honest.
Ohh
I don't know what to do
at this point, to be honest.
Babe!
Do we take the penalty
and just try
Are we allowed to take a penalty?
Are we allowed to take the penalty?
We're last at this point.
We'reI don't know how far behind
the other teams.
So we decided the best thing to do
was gonna be to forfeit
that challenge.
Yeah? Great.
Let's get our stuff. You go, go, go.
It just felt like
the right thing to do.
I was buggered.
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll take it.
We know that we've taken a penalty.
Soap shop?
Down here?
Soap shop. Yep.
And then we realised that
it's just to get in line.
That realisation was pretty brutal.
Can you please
We've overcome so much together,
you know?
Jake getting hit by a car,
he broke his neck,
punctured a lung,
crushed his foot.
And then so shortly after,
experiencing cancer.
You know, things happen
and you just gotta go with it.
We've got heart.
We're in it to win it
and we just won't be stopped.
This morning,
teams are now lining up
outside Aladdin's cave of soap
in the order they finished
the last challenge.
Dragon-boat mums Jodie & Claire
will start the day in pole position
and models Jake & Holly
are coming last
with a penalty looming over them.
Soap is big business in Morocco,
especially in this shop.
Moroccan black soap is famous
for its use in the cleansing hammams
across the country.
In this Road Block,
one member from each team
will hunt for the tiny race marker
attached to a unique stack
of individually wrapped soaps.
They'll enter the shop
in groups of three
and have only two minutes to search.
When their time's up, they'll go to
the back of the queue to try again.
Once they've found a flag,
they must replicate this,
exactly the same,
from the table of soaps
and scrubs outside.
They have to match the colour,
order, size and shape perfectly
all the way down to
the coloured wrapping paper.
They can work as a group but
they'll be judged individually
on their soap-stacking skills.
And don't forget
the deodorising crystal.
Yes! Good job!
When they do that,
they'll get the next clue.
Ohh! Fresh now.
New day.
Good morning, my darling.
How are you?
Oh, bit sore. Bit sore.
We're alright. We're alright.
So we're in line and we finally
get to meet Toni and her partner,
who are absolutely lovely.
It's close to my heart.
That's where it'll stay.
I saw another one of the teams
was wearing some ribbons
in support of her.
Toni has, uh, breast cancer.
Oh, wow, OK.
So, yeah.
Yeah, so, justbit of support.
Terminal? Oh, my God.
There's so much going on, and then
hearing that, I just kinda lost it.
What we said!
Yeah, I couldn't even
look her in the eyes.
Incredible that she's here, racing.
That's another level.
But we're here to have fun.
We are! And we just can't
come last today, right?
That's the idea.
That's the idea.
"You must search"
So the soap will be marked.
The markers.
Like, it should be a yellow-and-red
flag, is what you're saying.
Standing outside
the front of the soap shop,
we could see that there was
a lot of stacked soaps on ropes.
I don't think they're gonna
put it out the front here.
Nuh.
Nuh.
It's definitely up.
I'd go up the stairs.
There's three people that go in
at a time for two minutes.
And I had Angel and Kathy
from the Sydney team
and we decided that it would be wiser
for three heads to work together
to smash out this challenge.
Good luck.
Holy Oh, my life!
We have to finda marker.
It sounds simple, right?
Are they joking?
I've never seen so many soaps
in my life.
This is not easy, guys.
Looking at everything,
you even start to think
that the little cushions on top
are yellow and red,
and that might be the marker, 'cause
it's just looking for a marker.
Shite! Sorry, soapies.
Then you're trying not to break
things and pull things apart.
And I was, like, "Oh, my goodness!
This is mental!"
How can we not get it?
Scheisse.
Sorry, mate.
Oh, my God.
Oh!
Is that it?
We've gotta go.
That's the first team finished.
Oh, really?
That's the first two minutes done.
Wow, that was quick.
Good luck.
Shit, that's hard!
Ohh!
That is tough!
How you going, chick?
You found anything yet?
Not yet.
- Oh, I'm gonna go crazy.
- You see where Cynthia's looking?
I don't think they'd put it there
in front of everyone.
I don't think waste your time
looking there.
They wouldn't put it
where everyone can see.
Back to the line we go.
Give it another crack.
Back to the line we go.
OK.
God!
Is this a joke?!
Oh, my God. There's so many colours.
Are you kidding me?
This is impossible.
Who came up with this?
It's, like, so much harder
than it seems.
Trying to find the marked soap
in Aladdin's cave.
Yeah, this is hard, eh?
This is so hard.
I needed the genie there
so I could rub him,
rub his lamp and
he'd give me three wishes.
Damn!
It's alright. Take a breath.
Teams are going to the back of the
line with this look on their face
like they're not going well.
Anything, Kelly?
Nah, nothing, eh.
And honestly, it gave us
a little bit of hope
'cause it means that
we're moving up in the ranks.
By the time it was my turn,
I was quietly confident.
I'm very good at finding things.
He is.
So straight in.
I'm gonna go upstairs.
And when you blur
your peripheral vision
..colours start to pop forward.
So what I was doing was
going through, scanning, scanning,
everything looked the same,
everything looked the same.
And then that's when I saw,
right in the middle,
the flag was there.
We only need to remember two each.
But rememberremember the size.
I've got the brick, large gold.
Small pink, big teal.
Yep, and I've got the purple.
Purple on top.
Good, good. Purple on top.
White crystal.
White crystal, knot, up, knot.
Knot.
Should we go try?
Come on.
Let's go.
Let's go, boys. Come on, let's go.
Go, teams!
Let's go. Let's go.
They were upstairs.
It's gotta be upstairs.
Yep.
Alright. Alright, ready?
Let's go. Let's go.
So you still need
So it was cream, red
Where'd you get that?
Once you've located
that marked soap bundle,
you need to replicate it
in the town centre.
And, what, large in this colour?
Yep.
So we need, like, a large cake.
There was a lot of things
that could go wrong,
a lot of different variables.
Let's do it over here.
Let's do it over here.
Take our time.
The soap size could be wrong.
The colour could be incorrect.
The order could be incorrect.
Fold it in.
And maybe put your folded side down
to keep it, like, together.
And then tying it all together
just like it was on display.
Great job, guys.
Yeah, we're doing good.
How did they just find that?
Like little ones
Oh, look, look, look!
Have you got it?
Have youse got it?
Yellow, pink
Don't tell anybody.
We good?
- Come on, guys!
- Come on!
Come on! Let's go!
Oi, what about this one here?
Oi, oi!
What?
It's red and yellow.
The marker was
literally half the size
of my fingernail.
Go, go, go.
The pressure's definitely on.
The pressure's definitely on.
What about this one?
Red and yellow.
Yes, yes, yes. OK, let's remember.
OK, purple, green
Green, white, blue.
Currently we're at the back
of the line.
Yep.
Not the best feeling, but there's
always time to catch up.
Go, go.
Any luck?
No, no luck at all.
This is so hard!
Yellow, pink, blue, purple. Got it!
Yeah, let's go, let's go!
Everyone get three of everything.
I've got hats and crystals.
You've got three crystals?
Yes.
You're a legend. Get your
purple paper, darlin'.
OK.
Good.
I believe in you, baby!
Big at the bottom.
Big at the bottom.
The pressure was on and I could
see her just going for it,
and I was just yelling
as much encouragement
as my voice would allow.
Come on! Come on! Come on!
Good job, guys!
Let's go!
Good job!
Right.
Yeah, let's go.
Come on. Let's give it a crack.
Oh, my heart! Doog-doog-doog-doog!
I just really wanted Holly
to get this one done
so that we could start climbing
the ropes a little bit.
No. No, try again.
No?
OK. Alright.
Talk to me about the pink.
The pink was thick.
Thick, yep. So was the purple.
For this challenge, we had
to find a soap on a rope
and then remake it ourselves
Don't forget your crystal on top.
..in different shapes, sizes, colours
that I had to assemble perfectly.
Stay calm. Stay calm.
Wrong! Try again.
It was just rough.
Wrong!
Close, though, right?
Blue and then
Purple.
Wrong. Try again.
Wrong.
Try again.
You're kidding!
I thought you had it.
The judge is ruthless, eh?
You reckon Maybe we need
to go bigger on the bottom.
You have to go underneath there.
Hold that.
OK. Let's just give that a go.
- Give that a go.
- Whoo!
Come on, guys!
You got it, Tottie!
Justjust start working
on another one.
Good job!
Yeah! Yeah!
Whoo-hoo! Wha-ha!
Yeah!
Oh, my God!
It was crazy! It was the best feeling
to get, like, the first one there.
"Travel on foot to find
'Chefchazine's stairway to paradise."
Now, it's not only the walls, doors,
windows and roofs of buildings
that are painted blue in this town.
The stairs are also covered in
a distinct blue colour wash.
It's a trend that started
in the Jewish Quarter
before taking the city by storm.
Our teams must come here
and locate this station
at the bottom of these steps.
They'll then use a tiny paintbrush
and paint an entire step.
Now, once the local judge is
satisfied with their handiwork,
they'll receive their next clue.
That's my work.
I've been here for 4.5 weeks.
Alright, let's go.
Hey, so the young girls got it.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Actually, I'm pretty sure
that is not what
Good job!
Vincent, hide it, hide it, hide it.
Here, Vincent. Jamus, Jamus.
Yep. Melbourne teams,
Melbourne teams.
As soon as I got it, I'm, like,
"Quick! Melbourne teams!"
OK.
Thanks, Vincent.
We're happy to stick together with
the Melbourne bunch at this stage.
Take that.
Good job!
Yeah!
No. Look, they've got it.
What?
OK, good job.
Can you help me?
When they finally get the answer,
they're, like,
"Here. Only show
the Melbourne people."
Good job.
Yes!
I was, like, "What the heck?"
The Sydney teams, we actually
need to stick together
and help each other out.
Don't let it frustrate you.
Sorry. Wrong again.
Good job!
Yes!
We need to watch what's happening.
What are they doing?
Look, sixth felt really good
considering how I felt
when I saw a million and one
new teams
and my heart shattered.
Let's go.
Let's go!
I was happy with sixth.
- Yes!
- Yes!
Thank you!
Thank you.
It's all the way down there?
Straight? And then right.
Let's go, let's go!
We'll go up here
and we'll find someone.
Just go slow.
This way, this way!
Marker, marker!
Come, come, come, come!
Quick, quick, quick, quick!
Come on, Flick!
Aha! Over here, over here.
Hey, good job.
Go, girls. Come on, girls.
Carefully fill it with paint.
Do we need much?
How much do we need?
When I read the clue,
I'm thinking a step.
A small littlestep.
To my surprise, we turn the corner,
there's this massive step this big.
We were one of the first
To start painting.
..yeah, to start painting.
And we just went for it.
Go, Flick. This is
This is just
Yeah, gusto.
Yep. I got it.
Let's see Perfect!
Yay! Thank you.
When we went in the challenge,
we were first,
and I think we probably came out
about the middle of the road.
Yes, good job!
Thank you!
But this race,
it can go up and down
like a yo-yo
in five seconds.
Oh!
Let's go!
And now we need to make up time
with our next challenge.
Let's tie it up.
Yeah.
Mmmno.
Wrong.
Wrong?
Yes.
It's not on the right way.
So I got a bit worried,
to be honest,
because I was the first one
to find it
and there weren't many teams left!
Purple and then crystal.
Crystal. No, that and then crystal.
I actually met two girls
from the Sydney crew
that were, like, "Look,
I'll help you tie it."
Hold it, hold it.
Yeah, got it.
It works for them, it works for me!
Yeah!
That's it. Go, go.
Go, go, go, go.
Go, go.
Mori, go! Go, go, go, go!
Yeah! Great job!
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you! Yes!
Good, good.
OK.
Yes, good job!
Oh, yes, Tones! Well done, babe!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Good job, Steph! Whoo!
Good work, good work, good work.
Alright. Let's go.
You can do it, babe!
So I was coming last.
Keep going.
It was so stressful.
Wrong.
Wrong?
Yes.
Really?
Really.
OK.
Come on, Holly!
You got this, honey!
I was quite psyched out.
It is just baffling.
We're painting stairs
blue! We're painting stairs blue! ♪
One brick at a time?
This is gonna be quite meticulous.
Yep.
You don't realise
how hard it is
to paint with these fine
little toothbrushes.
We had two each and we're
painting, painting, painting.
I think it's actually very beautiful
that we have this opportunity
to contribute to Chefchaouen.
There will always be
a part of us here.
They should have let us
paint it pink, though.
Yes, good job!
Thank you.
Yes!
Getting that next clue
was absolutely amazing.
Well done! I love you!
I love you.
But we have not got time.
We have to make up our spaces.
So we just kept going.
Cool! Let's go!
OK.
OK. OK, brother, we gotta paint.
We're just painting this whole step.
Slow and steady wins the race,
Heath. Slow and steady.
I'm just trying to cover
as much ground as possible.
Do this underside first.
OK.
Do this underside first.
Yeah, we're doing this one.
Sorry. Sorry, you're kind of
in the way here, yeah.
It's a bit squishy, eh?
It's not easy, is it?
Excuse me.
It was really almost overwhelming,
because the cluster of people
when it's 18 teams -
it's just, like, crazy.
Here. Mori?
Yep.
OK.
Hi, boys.
Hi! Let's go.
Everyone was frantic.
Use two at a time. Yep.
And that made us feel more confident,
because it would be a good chance
that we could climb a little bit.
Hon, we gotta come down here too.
Are you good? Are you good?
Yeah.
Judge!
Judge already? Jeez!
Don't worry about anyone else,
please.
Just keep doing it.
How'd they smash that out
that quick, though?
Bit more? Chace, bit more.
If you put too much, Chace,
I think it peels some paint off,
so just dab, dab, dab, dab, dab.
Say when you want me to move
and I'll move.
It's all good.
So we get the shittiest square
with all the moss and the grass.
We thought, "Great, we've gotta
cover the step.
"And the grass as well."
And the grass!
We were, like, just dabbing it
wherever we could
to try to cover up the dirt.
If that moss moves, you've gotta
paint underneath that moss as well.
Oh, my gosh.
Don't spill.
OK, go.
Once we got there, we were last.
There were certainly a lot of
teams already there
almost finished their step.
Yeah, we knew we had
to move quickly.
Go that way? Stand on
I think
Can you guys stand on your step for
a second so we can move down? OK.
There's a blue area here
that we can all stand on.
Look, I love arts and crafts!
I've actually done quite
a bit of painting myself.
Wasn't the most artistic painting
I've ever done in my life.
It was more just kind of
Slop it on!
Slather!
Come on, let's catch up.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Keep going, keep going!
Yep, call it.
Judge!
This one.
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you! Thanks! Thanks.
Thank you!
"Travel on foot to the entrance of
Chefchaouen's bluest alleyway."
Chefchaouen is
an endless array of blue buildings
with matching blue doors.
In this challenge, teams must
first collect a photo album
with pictures of dozens
of blue doors.
They'll then work their way through
the labyrinth of corridors
to find three doors from
their book of photos
and write down the corresponding
street number.
Sounds easy, right?
Well, think again.
There are hundreds of nearly
identical blue doors to check
and it's all in the tiny details.
And it is way too easy to get lost
in this blue maze.
When they've found the three doors
and made their way
back to the judge,
they'll receive their next clue.
Sweet.
Thank you. Shukran.
Thank you.
Let's go.
We'll start from the top here.
OK.
OK, nuh. None of these. Let's go.
Yeah, nuh, nuh. Don't look at
the numbers. Look at the doors.
Let's go down there.
Nup.
What?
It's all good, it's all good.
Oh, here.
Solid, my girl.
Two doors left.
Tubs, is it worth
getting checked out yet?
Nuh.
No?
Off the edges and
paint the edge, yeah?
Oh, whoa, whoa, jump off.
Doesn't matter.
Jump off.
It's drying. It's not
gonna do anything.
No, just don't stand on it, please.
I just don't want it
I can't without standing on it.
You can jump on yours.
I can't!
Standing on yours!
Can you just get off, please?
Jump on yours and do it.
Oh, yeah, there was
definitely tension.
She had to do what she had to do.
I stepped off. I'm, like,
"OK, you know what? There.
"Don't want me to touch your step?
I'm not gonna try."
Oh, get over it.
No disrespect, but we just don't
want it to affect anything.
It's not going to. It's dry.
Yeah, but it could be coming off
onto your shoes.
It's the disrespect, for me.
Don't stand on our stairs
when we're trying to paint it!
Bringin' the psycho out of me!
And if you don't have my back,
the psycho's coming to you too.
Judge, judge! Uh, this one.
Yes, we got it! Thank you!
Thank you!
Shukran. Shukran.
Shukran, shukran.
OK, let's go.
Check.
Yes! Yes!
Thank you, thank you.
Yes! Thank you so much!
I could kiss you!
Well done, Tones. Route Info.
Route
Come on. Let's go, let's go.
We picked up the book.
Do you wanna do it
Thanks!
Thank you. Thank you.
Is it still blue
still blue alleyway?
Go, go.
Check up here.
Where you going?
Stay there. Stay there.
22 here? Oh, that's one of them.
I saw that one.
With the big round
Yes.
"Write the street numbers
of the doors
"in the grid at the beginning
of the photo album."
OK.
Let's just head
right down to the bottom.
Ooh, ooh, ooh!
No, that's not this one.
I think we picked the thickest one,
you know, Jodie?
And I'm saying to Claire,
"It's OK, I'm good at painting."
We need them to move.
You guys, we need
Guys, we need to get in
just here, sorry.
It was very challenging because
a staircase, as steps, is
..well, clearly one are
on top of the other.
That's how steps work.
You've got people standing
over your steps,
so I'm going sort of
under their crutch
to get my paint.
Watch your foot! Again.
Check!
Check!
Alright. Now get off your area
and paint.
You're hearing "Check! Yep!"
Thank you very much. Thank you.
"Whoo!"
Yeah! Stuey!
"Check! Yep! Whoo!"
Yes!
Thank you, thank you!
And we're thinking, "Ohh"
Thank you so much!
Thank you, thank you!
Watching these clues be handed out
like hot cakes.
Left, right and centre, yeah.
Yay! Thank you!
And we're still there,
painting a blue step.
Gotta get more paint, Gab. Come on.
Come on!
Alright.
Come on, babe. This is us,
this is us, this is us.
Nothing like coming in last place
to make you wanna go fast.
I think we're just about done!
Check, please! Check, please, sir.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much.
Remember that arrow?
Chace, this is one. This is one.
Here, here.
Number 9?
Yeah, 9.
9 is 9.
It's a lot of doors.
Telephones
Nuh.
No, what about that one?
No, don't think so.
Yes, we need
Doors.
We ran into a local man.
He kept saying, "I know where
those doors are. Come with me!"
"Come with me!"
Hopefully it will really help us
and we don't get lost
in the rabbit warren.
Oh, God. Really?
"Walk along and find a door.
"Write the street numbers of
the doors in the photo album."
Yeah, looks like number 6.
Then we write it. Beautiful. OK.
I feel like they're gonna
be further up.
Yeah.
That one.
Picture 20 is, um, number 22.
22. Don't show anyone.
Let's keep going. Good job.
We'll be here for a while.
Let's go this way.
This place kind of
all looks the same.
Everything's blue!
Everything is blue.
I see one!
2 is 7.
We're getting there.
Yep, move away from it.
Doing great, baby.
Ready yet? Check, check!
What's That one?
Good.
Thank you.
Quick, Flick.
Thank you!
Oh, man, I think, like,
a lot of teams have left, hey?
And it's a bit of a shame 'cause
we were one of the first here.
Yeah.
Is it still blue
still blue alleyway?
No, it's on the wrong side. Bugger.
Come on. Let's go.
I've seen this.
I've seen this one too.
I just wanna know
if it's, like, a law.
Do you have to paint
your house blue?
Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
Or did someone start a trend
and everyone just painted
their house blue?
But the blue works,
so good job, town.
Then there's this one.
I saw this one on there.
I saw this on there.
Is that 14?
Yes.
Yep. Nice.
I think we're good. Yeah. Yeah.
Check?
Yeah.
Check!
Check, please.
Yeah. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
Can we get a check, please?
Yes! Cheers, mate.
Thank you, thank you.
Let's go.
They're all starting
to look a bit the same.
What about this door?
No.
No.
How long does this road go?
We kept going up and up
and around the corner
and down and up and around.
"Oh, it could be there."
Ooh. No. Similar.
OK, now, let's go back.
Come on. Let's go.
Back to the beginning.
We were very appreciative
of wanting to help.
It's just that he
Probably another one
of our children.
actually never helped.
Probably coming last now
thanks to our little friend.
12. Oh
Yeah.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Yep, yep, yep.
Girls, girls, girls!
How you goin'?
Coming!
Can you show me
Yep, we've got that one.
We bumped into Flick and Gab
and Pako and Mori,
who are from our OG crew.
Hi, darlings. How are my OGs going?
Let's all compare notes.
We got one more
And at that stage, we decided
to really team up.
And that made all the difference.
Yeah, that was awesome.
OK. I think we're done.
We got it.
If I survive today,
I'm literally gonna be so happy.
We realised that we'd made up
so much ground
and we were back in the running.
Do you guys mind if we go first,
'cause we've got a penalty?
Come on, babe!
I'm right with you, darl.
Don't get lost.
Hello!
Yes!
Yes, yes! OK, Jake.
Come on.
Let's go.
Rip and read. Let's go.
Come on!
OK.
We're gonna be OK.
"Make your way on foot
to Restaurant Triana,
"with one of the best views
in Chefchaouen,
"and find Beau
at the next Pit Stop."
The Berber people
named Chefchaouen
after a pair of goat horns
which the mountains that tower
over the city are said to resemble.
Our now 18 teams
have raced from high above
this ancient blue city
and must find me here,
in the foothills below,
at the Pit Stop for the third leg
of The Amazing Race Australia.
And one team will be going home.
Let's go!
Come on, Holly!
Behind the square, they reckon.
I'm not coming last, baby!
Yes! Thank you, thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you so much!
OK, let's go.
Alright.
"Find Beau at the next Pit Stop."
"The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
Let's go!
Come on, girls.
Keep pushing through.
Keep pushing through!
Restaurant Triana.
19 is 26.
Let'slet's go to the judge.
Are we happy?
Go this way.
Yes, we've made it back.
Oh! Thank God.
Yay!
Thank you, thank you!
Thank you, thank you!
Hello, judge.
Please.
Yes! We did it.
Thank you so much!
We love blue doors!
We did it!
OK, what is it?
Have you ever done
anything like this before?
No, no. This is the first time.
Do you get nervous?
No.
No.
You are nervous.
Yeah, nah A little bit.
All morning. I see you.
Yeah. Thank you.
Are you enjoying blue Morocco city?
We were having a lovely time.
Look, I'm ready for another colour.
Hey, what's this one?
I love this door, it's beautiful,
but it's not the door
we're looking for.
This one here. Look.
OK.
This one.
Number 1.
Ooh. OK, what's up the top?
This beautiful Blue City of Morocco
is like a rabbit warren.
A blue rabbit warren.
A blue rabbit warren.
With lots of little tunnels
and holes and
..little nooks and crannies
that go somewhere or nowhere.
And being the blue team, I couldn't
hardly ever find Claire,
'cause she just blended in
with the doors.
I reckon keep going up here.
OK.
Argh!
Restaurant Triana?
That way. Down.
Let's ask them, Gab.
Restaurant Triana?
Triana.
Left.
Look! Right there!
Are we coming first?
I don't know.
Triana!
Baby, we did it! Come on.
Hey.
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Jake and Holly,
you are the first team to arrive.
The heavy artillery
has arrived, my friend.
However, because you did not
complete the dancing challenge,
you will serve a 30-minute penalty.
Please step to the side of the mat.
30 minutes.
30 minutes.
OK. OK.
We're not going home, though.
30 minutes is pretty sting-y.
It is pretty sting-y.
Flick, this way. This way.
Hurry up! It's the last bit!
I know!
Come on, it's here!
Hey, I can speak
a little bit of Arabic.
Really? Yeah?
Yeah.
Something, uh, food.
Yeah, it's all food.
Yeah.
It's all food and swear words!
We got it, Vinny. Back to the uncle.
Hello!
Hello!
Thank you! Yes!
Thank you! Yep. Yep. Yep.
Yay!
Check that way. Check that way.
Which way?
Triana?
The best views - it has to be up.
Wait, Gab!
Just go, Mori!
Gab! Hurry up, it's the last bit!
I know!
Girls, I'm so proud of you.
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you!
Flick and Gabby, you are
the second team to arrive,
but you are the first team
to check in.
Yes!
And you are one step closer
to taking home 250 grand cash!
Yes!
First first place.
First first place.
Nuts.
This means Flick and I
have some faith
that we've got it.
Doesn't matter if there's 29 teams,
100 teams or one.
We're competitive.
As the first team to check in,
you have won
two Samsung Galaxy Ultra phones,
two Samsung Galaxy Watches
and two sets of Galaxy Buds Pro.
Yes!
That's a total of over $5,000.
You girls are the real deal.
Thank you.
There was plenty of adversity
last night and this morning.
How did youse weave through your way
to get here to check in first?
It was hard 'cause there was,
like, a thousand teams.
Yeah!
Last night was so hard and stressful
and tears were everywhere,
so it feels good to be here.
Hold your heads high.
You did so well.
And I'll see you soon.
Well done, girls.
Whoo-hoo!
Let's go!
Whoo!
Pako and Mori, you are
the third team to arrive.
Yeah!
But you're the second team
to check in, boys.
Yeah!
Whoo!
Be proud of your efforts.
You're still in the race.
Thank you.
Thanks, Beau.
Thank you!
Ahh! Thank you so much!
Oh! Thank you. Thank you. Come on.
Yes, baby!
Yes!
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
No?
We didn't get it.
We just need to hope the other teams
have gotten just as lost as we have.
We are so lost. We've got
no idea where we are.
No idea. We're probably gonna
have to go right back up.
Racing up there again.
Yes!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Oh, gosh, thank you so much!
Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Cheers.
"Find Beau at the next Pit Stop.
"Hurry, the last time to check in
may be eliminated." Go!
Apparently number 7's wrong.
Let's go down here.
I reckon we go back this way
and down.
Go this way?
Yep.
That's this one.
Yeah.
Got the plants, the step.
So number 4
..is number 7.
Yeah.
Wait. Hang on.
No.
No, dead end, dead end.
We've been here already.
Go, go, go.
Yeah. This way?
Uhyeah.
Chace, are you with me?
Yep, yep, yep.
Three, two, one!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you!
Thank you. Shukran.
Kathy and Chace, you are
the fourth team to arrive.
Yes.
But you're the third team
to check in.
Oh.
OK.
Yoo-hoo!
Tammy and Vincent, you are
the fourth team to check in.
Wow!
Yes!
Ready? Ooh!
Yes!
Yeww!
Let's go.
Yeah!
Oh!
Thank you. Thank you.
"The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
Alright, let's go.
We gotta go.
Hello. You know Restaurant Triana?
Yes.
Yes?
Just follow those guys.
You sure?
100%? OK, let's go, let's go.
Hi! What's your name?
Oh, he's showing us!
Follow the dog.
Are you seriously following the dog?
Is it this way?
They're following a dog,
and she wants to follow them
following a dog.
The dog's going to sniff
some other dogs' butts or something.
Come on, Muffin!
Show us! Show us where to go.
Oh, here. Wait. No?
No, down here.
Quick, Chelsea and Jamus are coming.
Move faster!
Chelsea!
I've got the bags!
You don't see Kelly whingeing!
Yes, I can see the flag!
Come on. Run hard, run hard.
Kelly and Georgia, you are
the fifth team to check in.
Yes!
Chelsea and Jamus, you are
the sixth team to check in.
Yes!
- I'll see you soon.
- Thanks, Beau.
Where are you, Tottie?
Good job, mate.
Whoo! Oh!
Fliss and Tot, you are
the seventh team to check in.
Oh, my God!
Thank you!
Steph and Lauren, you are
the eighth team to check in, girls.
Amazing, babe!
Unbelievable.
Jake and Holly, so far you have
served 10 minutes of your penalty.
Alright, mate.
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
"Hurry! The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
Alright. Let's go.
Right, that's what we're looking for.
We're 100% that's it, right?
God, how do we get outta here?
I don't know.
Try and have a little jog,
'cause we've gotta get there.
Might be the make or break.
Still in a race!
Judge?
Yes! Yeah!
Yeah!
Thank you!
You can have your little pen back.
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
We did it.
Come on, let's go.
We gotta get to the Pit Stop.
If you could pick a host
of any of the Channel Ten shows,
who would be your favourite?
Out of, like, Dr Chris Brown,
Jonathan LaPaglia and Beau Ryan?
Beau Ryan.
Beau Ryan.
Yes!
Yeah. OK.
Hey!
Go! Run, run, run!
Come on, Sammy!
Down here.
We were first, OK?
Alright. Alright.
Angel and Frankie, you are
the 10th team to arrive.
However, you are
the 9th team to check in.
Oh, yes!
Stuart and Glennon, you are
the 10th team to check in.
Oh, God!
Morgan and Lilli, that makes you
the 11th team to check in.
Sick!
Sam and Stu,
you are the 13th team to arrive.
That means you're
the 12th team to check in.
Well done, boys.
It's OK, baby. It's OK.
Oh, that's a different restaurant.
Oh, don't forget Holly and Jake
have a time penalty.
Jake and Holly, you've already
served 24 minutes.
Not long left.
Muffin! Come on!
Muffin!
Here!
Oh, my gosh.
Quick!
Whoo!
We did it.
- Welcome to Chefchaouen.
- Thank you so much!
Beautiful city! Wow! So blue!
Sam and Alex, you are
the 13th team to check in.
Wow!
Score!
Well done! Go us!
Go get a coffee,
I'll see you soon.
Thanks, Beau!
Go down there?
Triana?
Triana?
In and down.
Triana. Go, go, go, go.
Where's Beau? Where's Beau? Come on!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you so much.
So beautiful.
Can we come in together?
Heath and Toni, you are
the 15th team to arrive.
But you're the 14th team to check in.
Oo-ee!
Tiffany and Cynthia, you are
the 15th team to check in.
OK.
Good job.
Triana! I see it! Let's go!
I can't see anyone else.
We're too
There's no-one else!
I think we're coming last,
'cause I can't see anyone else.
Down here.
You ready?
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
Shukran! Hello!
Crystal and Reem, you are
the 17th team to arrive.
That's alright! Not last.
But the 16th team to check in.
Oh! Penalty?
You guys are gonna make it.
Don't worry about them.
Just worry about yourselves.
Go rest, recover
and I'll see you soon.
Jake and Holly, you only have two
minutes remaining of your penalty.
I just won't relax
until we're OK.
It's gonna be OK.
If we're first to get here
and last to check in,
I swear to goodness
Triana! Triana! Come on!
Run down! Little run.
Where is it?
This says 'Triana'.
Come on! You got this!
Come on.
Quick, quick, quick.
Come on! Come on!
There he is! There he is!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you so much!
You're beautiful!
It's beautiful. Thank you.
Jodie and Claire
..you are the last team to arrive.
Uh-oh.
It's alright.
We did our best.
We did good.
We did.
We did good.
However,
you are the 17th team to check in.
No!
Oh, no!
Oh, no
Oh, no.
I know.
Oh, no.
Go rest and recover, girls,
and I'll see you soon.
Jake and Holly, please step
back onto the mat.
Jake and Holly, that makes you guys
the last team to check in.
And
..you're eliminated.
It's OK.
Your time on the race
is now over, guys.
Oh, man, this really sucks.
This really, really sucks!
It's pretty heart-break
When we got here first,
we were, like,
"OK, we've got enough time
to protect ourselves."
But the fact that we've gotten here
first and we're still eliminated
This must be a first time
in race history
that you land first
and still get eliminated, right?
That has to be the first time
that's happened.
First time I've seen it.
Is the race everything
that you thought it would be?
And more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're just so stoked
to have gotten here.
I've always wanted to go to
the Blue City, actually!
So, you know, I'm just glad
we made it this far.
You proud of each other?
So bloody proud.
Yeah. Sheshe really Yep.
I'm so proud of my girl.
Alright, bring it in, guys.
Hold your heads high.
I know it was hard.
Look after each other.
See you the other side.
Your time on the race
now is over.
Thank you, Beau.
Man!
Next time on The Amazing Race
Australia
..we travel to Athens
Athens, Greece!
..birthplace of the Olympics.
Teams must take aim
Is this upside down?
..fall in step
Three, four.
You think you're going
to pick this up?
..and try not
Take your time. Take your time.
They failed.
..to open Pandora's box.
Go, girls!
Not us? OK.
I reckon we're getting
the bad vibe from everyone
because they know that
we are a strong team.
She's a savage bitch.
This is Chefchaouen
..known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco.
A gorgeous city with
cobalt-stained streets
set amidst the majestic
Rif Mountains,
a place rich in beauty and history.
Established in 1471,
it received its distinctive
blue colour
in 1492,
when the Jewish people, who were
escaping the Spanish Inquisition,
decided to decorate the town blue
in honour of the sky and heaven.
It's the location for the third leg
of the Amazing Race Australia
and a world first.
A record-breaking 18 teams
are about to battle it out.
It's the most teams ever assembled,
racing for the biggest prize
in Amazing Race Australia history.
Go!
And it all started two days ago,
when 10 teams of racers
left from Melbourne
to compete in the Moroccan city
of Ouarzazate.
Break through!
Yeah!
After a furious race to the finish
Kelly and Georgia, you are
the first team to check in.
..the surviving nine teams
received their next clue.
"Make your way to
Chefchaochaouen."
Chef-chao-own?
Chef Cohen?
Now the Melbourne racers
have made their way here,
to Chefchaouen.
Nearly there. Last climb.
There is nothing up here.
No-one really knew
what was going on.
We did it, guys. Good job.
Something real bad's
about to happen.
I'm actually scared.
You're so dramatic.
And then we're just left
to sit there.
And we have to keep sitting there.
Come on. Can't wait all day!
We know something's up.
I have a horrible feeling
a surprise elimination.
I legit reckon something big
is about to happen.
Ahh! I don't like it!
Just expect
the unexpected, hey?
But what they don't know
is two days ago,
another group of 10 teams
set sail from Sydney
for their own first leg in Marrakech.
Yay!
Thank you!
Angel and Frankie, you are
the first team to check in!
And the nine remaining teams
of Sydney racers
received their next clue.
"Make your way to Chefchaouen."
"Chefchaouen."
"The Blue City of Morocco."
Neither Melbourne nor Sydney
have any clue
the other racers exist.
Now they're in for
one hell of a shock.
The clue says that we're
going to 'Chefcharon'.
'Chefchaouen'. It's not Sharon!
How to Aussie it down!
We didn't know how far away it was.
What goes up must come down, right?
I kind of was in game mode,
so I was counting the steps
and then I was looking out
to the buildings, trying
to see if there was a flag.
Oh, look at that!
Whoa.
Beautiful!
That's so nice.
What do you reckon
the challenge is gonna be?
We're going to the mosque.
You right?
Going up to thethe mosque,
I had a feeling, like,
"Something's wrong."
We gotta be prepared for
anything when we get up there.
Something else might change.
Someone's walking up.
What?
Um, spread the news!
There's people coming up.
Like, multiple.
Whoa! It is too!
One, two, three
Is this a joke?
Look how many there are!
Oh, what? Nine?
What do we do?
Do we stand here all staunch?
Do we talk to them? Do we say hello?
We were so confused.
Oh, my gosh!
Who are these people?
Oh, what about that surprise that
we got at the top of the mosque?
When I walked up there, I was, like,
"Wait, who are you guys?"
Uh, what?
Do they not know we're here?
What the
I was not expecting this twist, man.
We're like, "There better not
be another Asian team!"
Well, we can be
the original Asians, OK?
What is happening?!
We saw nine other teams
in similar get-up.
I said to them, "Are you
the American team?
"Are you the New Zealand team?"
They opened their mouth
We started in Melbourne.
We started in Melbourne.
It was Australian.
We're all Australian too.
And we've been racing in Morocco.
Mind blown.
I'm traumatised.
Hi!
Have youse been competing?
Yeah.
So you've actually been racing?
Yeah.
Oh!
You guys have not been racing.
I don't believe you for a second.
Oh, OK! Alright. Alright.
What the actual hell?
That's not the energy we've been
going with, but alright.
So the orange team, she was a bit
full-on when she introduced herself,
and it came across quite
rudely and bitchy.
Immediately, I was, like,
"If you're gonna be a bitch,
I'm gonna be a bitch."
No-one likes us.
'Cause they're threatened,
that's why.
This surely has to be
an Amazing Race first, though.
We thought we were, like,
a shoo-in with only 10 teams!
I'm still just tripping out!
Well, well, well!
Oh, my God.
Oh, here he is!
You!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Half the teams began in Melbourne
two days ago
and half began in Sydney.
And until this point, you've been
racing across Morocco in parallel.
Madness!
Now, if you're serious
about winning this show,
your time to step up is right now.
You were all racing separately,
but now all 18 teams will be
competing for the 250 grand cash
and an Isuzu D-MAX
and an Isuzu MU-X.
Melbourne and Sydney,
combine.
We've got this. We've got this.
Yeah.
I suggest you take
this moment right now
and have a look around
and see who your real competition is.
Now you are all finally here,
the race can begin.
It's time to show me
what you are really made of.
Are you ready?
Here is your next clue.
Cheers, Beau.
Thank you, Beau.
Alright, that's enough chat.
Let's get down to business.
Race hard.
Race safe.
Good luck.
Three, two, one, go!
Alright, "Route Info."
"Make your way to
the Plaza Uta el Hamman."
In this challenge,
teams must come here
to Plaza Uta el Hamman square
in Morocco
and meet my good friends
the Gnawa dancers.
They must learn and perform
the traditional Gnawa dance
to the live Gnawa beats,
a blend of classical
Islamic Sufi music
with ancient African influences.
It's traditionally performed
at communal nights of prayer
and healing.
Wearing a fez, teams must keep
their tassels spinning
continuously for 90 seconds
twice between them.
They do that,
they'll receive their next clue.
Sounds easy, right?
Watch this unfold.
Oh!
Alright, brother. Let's go.
Let's go.
Just watch the steps.
Oh!
They take no prisoners, for real.
I was just, like, shocked.
You have this idea in your head
that yes, you have
a 1-in-9 chance of winning,
and now it's 1-in-18.
This is on like Donkey Kong!
On like Donkey Kong!
Oh, my gosh.
Stay focused.
Yep.
Everyone is moving fast.
I kept saying, "Jodie,
where's the old ones?
"Where are the old people?"
They're all young and fit
and healthy and competitive.
We are continually
the older ladies.
Oi, boys, boys, boys.
Make sure - let's help each other out
as much as we can, this one.
I think the vibe straightaway,
though, is Melbourne vs Sydney,
and it's on.
So, yeah, we just gotta
really rip in and refocus.
The view is absolutely stunning.
Absolutely insane.
Even with the sun down, you can
still see the blue in the houses.
It would have looked
so much more beautiful
if there were only
10 teams here, though.
Come on, keep pushing.
Push, push, push, push, push.
We need to find ourselves
the main square
and then we need to find the dancers.
Whoop!
Excuse me!
Town centre?
Yeah.
Thank you!
Uta elel Hamman?
Uta el Hamman?
Yes.
This one?
You guys speak English?
This way, this way.
Thank you! Thank you.
Hello!
Yep, let's go, let's go, let's go.
Stuey!
Go, guys. Go, guys.
Go, go. Main square!
I can hear the music, baby.
It must be down there. The dancers.
I think it is.
That's what I said. Gotta
read through so you get an idea.
It was really hectic.
There was a lot of loud noise.
There was a big square
full of people.
Yeah, the music's pumping.
It was the most chaotic energy.
"Find the 'Gwana' dancers."
Yeah, we've put the bags down.
We're here. Look, the hats.
"Watch the traditional
'Gwana' dance.
"Learn how to swing the tassel
on top of the head."
"Together, you must spin the tassel
continuously
"for two times 90 seconds
between you."
Practise as much as you can
before you perform.
You gotta practise.
Spin your necks. Bend your legs.
Did you get a tight one?
Show me.
Like that.
It's not spinning.
Yep, now try it. Go.
Yeah, is that comfortable?
You've gotta stay comfortable.
Don't touch your head. Keep that
groove, keep that groove.
Oh! Come on, Ange.
It keeps falling off my head.
Yeah, it's 90 seconds, Ange.
You've gotta keep going.
Longest 90 seconds of my life.
I do not think
I looked cute in the fez.
Our head was already in a spin
from finding out there were
another nine teams.
And now we have more spinning to do!
We were just spin, spin, spin.
Spin it around. Yeah?
Uh, I blew it!
I still haven't seen any flags,
Lauren.
Yeah, all the locals
are pointing this way.
Getting louder.
Ooh! Ohh!
Oh, Tones! Oh, Tones!
Are you alright?
Are you alright?
Are you OK? Relax, relax.
She hit her
Ohh!
Oh, Tones! Oh, Tones!
No, she hit her head.
OK, alright. Just hold on.
No.
OK, hold on. Hold on.
No, I'm fine.
No, just sit for a sec.
You're gonna have to sit.
Heath, I'm fine!
Please sit for a second.
I just went into full
Husband.
Husband mode.
Sit.
OK.
We've gone through enough
in the last year,
and that just absolutely threw me!
I banged my head, Heath.
You banged your head.
What if we take her bag?
Yeah.
Yep.
Let's go.
Oh, girls, thank you.
Don't stress. It's alright.
Thanks, girls.
Bag?
Yep.
Sit down.
No. Come on.
Toni
Heath!
Toni!
Can we just walk?
No running. No running.
Yeah. Yeah.
He's always worried about me,
but he looked pretty
..kind of shaken.
And I was, like, "Let's crack on!
Let's go!"
Are you right?
I don't know, but thank you.
Alright.
Look, look! Watch, watch!
Watch, watch, watch, watch.
It's too small!
Hats? We need hats.
Hats? Go to the right.
I just realised how ridiculous
we look.
Coming into this, we both said that
whatever dance we first do,
we're gonna do it at our wedding,
'cause it'd be hilarious
as our first dance.
Argh!
I was doing it! My hat fell off.
Just, like, it takes one split
second for it to lose its rhythm.
Find your motion.
And then it just stops.
Yeah.
You've got it.
Are you good? Are you good?
Are you ready, Ange?
Yeah.
Here.
Here, here!
We're ready.
We need our judge.
Ready, set, go.
Yeah, let's go!
Shush.
OK. Sorry, sorry.
Quiet, quiet.
Just keep
You're good, you're good.
We're nearly there, we're nearly
there, we're nearly there.
Got it. You got it.
Don't lose it. Keep moving.
We're nearly there, Ange.
We're nearly there.
Oh!
Oh, my God!
Come on, Ange. Don't stress.
We're alright. We're good.
I felt my mind slip away.
Having these teams added in and the
pressure that's been put on us
I just need to stay focused.
We were actually really good
at spinning these hats.
Surprisingly enough!
Being mums.
You are constantly going
"No! No!"
"Pick that up! Go and get it!
Don't do that!"
Yep.
Oh, here. We'll go next.
Was it 90 seconds between us?
Yeah, times two.
Ready, set, go.
Is mine going?
Yes, yours is good.
Just don't ever change your rhythm.
Yeah!
We came first in a challenge
out of, now, 18 teams.
"Road Block. Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll do it!
OK!
You right with that?
Yeah!
A Road Block is a challenge
only one team member
must choose to complete
based on a cryptic clue.
But first, teams must find
Aladdin's cave of soap
to reserve their place
in tomorrow's challenge.
Teams will be competing
three at a time,
so if they get there late,
they'll be waiting a long time
for their shot.
OK, we're looking for
a soap shop anyway.
Is that soap?
Soap?
That's it. Aladdin
Sorry, shop is closed.
Huh?
Come back tomorrow.
Oh, no! Take a number. Oh.
Number 1! We got number 1!
Number 1!
Thank you so much!
We get to do it tomorrow.
Yay!
Yay! Ha!
We are competitive.
For the people our age
sitting around at home,
thinking they can't do things,
like, look at us.
Go!
We started dragon-boating
about six years ago
and I was almost in my 50s then.
Life experience says a lot.
And I think that's the kinda stuff
you bring to The Amazing Race.
So there's an element of fitness.
OK, we didn't get that bit,
but we have a lot of intelligence.
Let's go. This is our hotel.
Yeah, we've got this.
We've got it.
Kylie and Dannii does it.
18 teams!
Oh, my God, I'm so proud of you.
OK, let's check in.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Hello! Bonjour!
We good? We gotta go for 90 seconds.
Don't go too fast!
Don't go too fast.
Oh, my hat's gonna fall off.
Go down! Go down if you have to.
Oh! Yes!
Whoo!
Whoo-hoo!
OK, pull it, pull it, pull it.
- Here we go.
- "Road Block.
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll do it.
Argh! Sorry, babe.
Keep going! Oh, you
should have kept going.
"Together, you must spin the tassel
continuously
"for two times 90 seconds
between you."
You can do it twice.
Thank you!
"Road Block."
I'll scrub, I'll scrub.
Go, I'll scrub.
"Channel Bob Marley." And she's just
bobbing her head, like, "Yeah."
Oh, thank God!
Thank you! Thank you, thank you!
Oh, my God!
"Road Block."
Alright, I'll do it.
Oh!
Focus.
We've gotta do it together.
I know. OK.
Yeah, do it!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Yay!
It's a Road Block.
Alright, I'll do it.
Me. Me, me, me.
Lilli does!
You wanna do it?
I'll do it.
Alright, let's go.
- Keep going, keep going.
- Arrgh!
Tones, there's still other teams
here, so it's all good.
I know.
Yeah!
Yeah!
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I do! I haven't showered!
You're gonna do it. Jamus,
you're gonna do it, yeah? Yeah.
It was just
the most frustrating thing.
We see, you know,
one team get through.
Yay!
And then another team get through.
Yay!
But you just can't give up.
We're doing really, really well.
Really well.
We're getting there, it's just
It's gonna get done.
"Road Block."
I'll do it? I'll do it.
Kelly, yeah.
Yeah, I'll do it.
Me. I need a good scrub.
I'll do it?
I think you do too.
Let's do it, baby. Let's go!
Thank you!
Whoo! Yes! Yes, bro, yes!
"Road Block."
Well, it's gotta be me, doesn't it?
"Road Block." I'll do it.
We're down at the bottom two.
Like, jeez, Louise.
And my head hurts
and my knee's bleeding.
Just go back and forth
and back and forth.
Like, let's just focus
and get this done.
I think I've got it now, Heath.
Let's go.
I need a smaller hat.
Go, go, go, go.
I'm so close! It just stopped, man.
It's so hard!
Try a purple one, honey.
I've tried them all, darlin'.
Oh, that one looks bigger,
potentially.
No, that's bigger.
Thank you so much.
Oh, my God!
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Come on, quick.
Toni was just a machine.
Like, she did it.
She doesn't know when to quit.
"Who needs a good scrub?" Me.
I need a scrub. I'm filthy.
Come on, let's go. Let's go.
Thank you.
Alright, so that's it. You're done.
Knock-off.
If you're not comfortable
No, I'm a bit of a mess.
It's alright.
Let's go get the medic.
Thanks for carrying my bag.
That's alright!
Can't believe I stacked it!
Yeah, but you hit your head
really hard.
I know I did. I felt
How are we
the last people here?
Gotta keep trying.
OK.
If I go home 'cause of
this dumb hat
Nuh. Ohh
I don't know what to do at
this point, to be honest.
Ohh
I don't know what to do
at this point, to be honest.
Babe!
Do we take the penalty
and just try
Are we allowed to take a penalty?
Are we allowed to take the penalty?
We're last at this point.
We'reI don't know how far behind
the other teams.
So we decided the best thing to do
was gonna be to forfeit
that challenge.
Yeah? Great.
Let's get our stuff. You go, go, go.
It just felt like
the right thing to do.
I was buggered.
"Who needs a good scrub?"
I'll take it.
We know that we've taken a penalty.
Soap shop?
Down here?
Soap shop. Yep.
And then we realised that
it's just to get in line.
That realisation was pretty brutal.
Can you please
We've overcome so much together,
you know?
Jake getting hit by a car,
he broke his neck,
punctured a lung,
crushed his foot.
And then so shortly after,
experiencing cancer.
You know, things happen
and you just gotta go with it.
We've got heart.
We're in it to win it
and we just won't be stopped.
This morning,
teams are now lining up
outside Aladdin's cave of soap
in the order they finished
the last challenge.
Dragon-boat mums Jodie & Claire
will start the day in pole position
and models Jake & Holly
are coming last
with a penalty looming over them.
Soap is big business in Morocco,
especially in this shop.
Moroccan black soap is famous
for its use in the cleansing hammams
across the country.
In this Road Block,
one member from each team
will hunt for the tiny race marker
attached to a unique stack
of individually wrapped soaps.
They'll enter the shop
in groups of three
and have only two minutes to search.
When their time's up, they'll go to
the back of the queue to try again.
Once they've found a flag,
they must replicate this,
exactly the same,
from the table of soaps
and scrubs outside.
They have to match the colour,
order, size and shape perfectly
all the way down to
the coloured wrapping paper.
They can work as a group but
they'll be judged individually
on their soap-stacking skills.
And don't forget
the deodorising crystal.
Yes! Good job!
When they do that,
they'll get the next clue.
Ohh! Fresh now.
New day.
Good morning, my darling.
How are you?
Oh, bit sore. Bit sore.
We're alright. We're alright.
So we're in line and we finally
get to meet Toni and her partner,
who are absolutely lovely.
It's close to my heart.
That's where it'll stay.
I saw another one of the teams
was wearing some ribbons
in support of her.
Toni has, uh, breast cancer.
Oh, wow, OK.
So, yeah.
Yeah, so, justbit of support.
Terminal? Oh, my God.
There's so much going on, and then
hearing that, I just kinda lost it.
What we said!
Yeah, I couldn't even
look her in the eyes.
Incredible that she's here, racing.
That's another level.
But we're here to have fun.
We are! And we just can't
come last today, right?
That's the idea.
That's the idea.
"You must search"
So the soap will be marked.
The markers.
Like, it should be a yellow-and-red
flag, is what you're saying.
Standing outside
the front of the soap shop,
we could see that there was
a lot of stacked soaps on ropes.
I don't think they're gonna
put it out the front here.
Nuh.
Nuh.
It's definitely up.
I'd go up the stairs.
There's three people that go in
at a time for two minutes.
And I had Angel and Kathy
from the Sydney team
and we decided that it would be wiser
for three heads to work together
to smash out this challenge.
Good luck.
Holy Oh, my life!
We have to finda marker.
It sounds simple, right?
Are they joking?
I've never seen so many soaps
in my life.
This is not easy, guys.
Looking at everything,
you even start to think
that the little cushions on top
are yellow and red,
and that might be the marker, 'cause
it's just looking for a marker.
Shite! Sorry, soapies.
Then you're trying not to break
things and pull things apart.
And I was, like, "Oh, my goodness!
This is mental!"
How can we not get it?
Scheisse.
Sorry, mate.
Oh, my God.
Oh!
Is that it?
We've gotta go.
That's the first team finished.
Oh, really?
That's the first two minutes done.
Wow, that was quick.
Good luck.
Shit, that's hard!
Ohh!
That is tough!
How you going, chick?
You found anything yet?
Not yet.
- Oh, I'm gonna go crazy.
- You see where Cynthia's looking?
I don't think they'd put it there
in front of everyone.
I don't think waste your time
looking there.
They wouldn't put it
where everyone can see.
Back to the line we go.
Give it another crack.
Back to the line we go.
OK.
God!
Is this a joke?!
Oh, my God. There's so many colours.
Are you kidding me?
This is impossible.
Who came up with this?
It's, like, so much harder
than it seems.
Trying to find the marked soap
in Aladdin's cave.
Yeah, this is hard, eh?
This is so hard.
I needed the genie there
so I could rub him,
rub his lamp and
he'd give me three wishes.
Damn!
It's alright. Take a breath.
Teams are going to the back of the
line with this look on their face
like they're not going well.
Anything, Kelly?
Nah, nothing, eh.
And honestly, it gave us
a little bit of hope
'cause it means that
we're moving up in the ranks.
By the time it was my turn,
I was quietly confident.
I'm very good at finding things.
He is.
So straight in.
I'm gonna go upstairs.
And when you blur
your peripheral vision
..colours start to pop forward.
So what I was doing was
going through, scanning, scanning,
everything looked the same,
everything looked the same.
And then that's when I saw,
right in the middle,
the flag was there.
We only need to remember two each.
But rememberremember the size.
I've got the brick, large gold.
Small pink, big teal.
Yep, and I've got the purple.
Purple on top.
Good, good. Purple on top.
White crystal.
White crystal, knot, up, knot.
Knot.
Should we go try?
Come on.
Let's go.
Let's go, boys. Come on, let's go.
Go, teams!
Let's go. Let's go.
They were upstairs.
It's gotta be upstairs.
Yep.
Alright. Alright, ready?
Let's go. Let's go.
So you still need
So it was cream, red
Where'd you get that?
Once you've located
that marked soap bundle,
you need to replicate it
in the town centre.
And, what, large in this colour?
Yep.
So we need, like, a large cake.
There was a lot of things
that could go wrong,
a lot of different variables.
Let's do it over here.
Let's do it over here.
Take our time.
The soap size could be wrong.
The colour could be incorrect.
The order could be incorrect.
Fold it in.
And maybe put your folded side down
to keep it, like, together.
And then tying it all together
just like it was on display.
Great job, guys.
Yeah, we're doing good.
How did they just find that?
Like little ones
Oh, look, look, look!
Have you got it?
Have youse got it?
Yellow, pink
Don't tell anybody.
We good?
- Come on, guys!
- Come on!
Come on! Let's go!
Oi, what about this one here?
Oi, oi!
What?
It's red and yellow.
The marker was
literally half the size
of my fingernail.
Go, go, go.
The pressure's definitely on.
The pressure's definitely on.
What about this one?
Red and yellow.
Yes, yes, yes. OK, let's remember.
OK, purple, green
Green, white, blue.
Currently we're at the back
of the line.
Yep.
Not the best feeling, but there's
always time to catch up.
Go, go.
Any luck?
No, no luck at all.
This is so hard!
Yellow, pink, blue, purple. Got it!
Yeah, let's go, let's go!
Everyone get three of everything.
I've got hats and crystals.
You've got three crystals?
Yes.
You're a legend. Get your
purple paper, darlin'.
OK.
Good.
I believe in you, baby!
Big at the bottom.
Big at the bottom.
The pressure was on and I could
see her just going for it,
and I was just yelling
as much encouragement
as my voice would allow.
Come on! Come on! Come on!
Good job, guys!
Let's go!
Good job!
Right.
Yeah, let's go.
Come on. Let's give it a crack.
Oh, my heart! Doog-doog-doog-doog!
I just really wanted Holly
to get this one done
so that we could start climbing
the ropes a little bit.
No. No, try again.
No?
OK. Alright.
Talk to me about the pink.
The pink was thick.
Thick, yep. So was the purple.
For this challenge, we had
to find a soap on a rope
and then remake it ourselves
Don't forget your crystal on top.
..in different shapes, sizes, colours
that I had to assemble perfectly.
Stay calm. Stay calm.
Wrong! Try again.
It was just rough.
Wrong!
Close, though, right?
Blue and then
Purple.
Wrong. Try again.
Wrong.
Try again.
You're kidding!
I thought you had it.
The judge is ruthless, eh?
You reckon Maybe we need
to go bigger on the bottom.
You have to go underneath there.
Hold that.
OK. Let's just give that a go.
- Give that a go.
- Whoo!
Come on, guys!
You got it, Tottie!
Justjust start working
on another one.
Good job!
Yeah! Yeah!
Whoo-hoo! Wha-ha!
Yeah!
Oh, my God!
It was crazy! It was the best feeling
to get, like, the first one there.
"Travel on foot to find
'Chefchazine's stairway to paradise."
Now, it's not only the walls, doors,
windows and roofs of buildings
that are painted blue in this town.
The stairs are also covered in
a distinct blue colour wash.
It's a trend that started
in the Jewish Quarter
before taking the city by storm.
Our teams must come here
and locate this station
at the bottom of these steps.
They'll then use a tiny paintbrush
and paint an entire step.
Now, once the local judge is
satisfied with their handiwork,
they'll receive their next clue.
That's my work.
I've been here for 4.5 weeks.
Alright, let's go.
Hey, so the young girls got it.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Actually, I'm pretty sure
that is not what
Good job!
Vincent, hide it, hide it, hide it.
Here, Vincent. Jamus, Jamus.
Yep. Melbourne teams,
Melbourne teams.
As soon as I got it, I'm, like,
"Quick! Melbourne teams!"
OK.
Thanks, Vincent.
We're happy to stick together with
the Melbourne bunch at this stage.
Take that.
Good job!
Yeah!
No. Look, they've got it.
What?
OK, good job.
Can you help me?
When they finally get the answer,
they're, like,
"Here. Only show
the Melbourne people."
Good job.
Yes!
I was, like, "What the heck?"
The Sydney teams, we actually
need to stick together
and help each other out.
Don't let it frustrate you.
Sorry. Wrong again.
Good job!
Yes!
We need to watch what's happening.
What are they doing?
Look, sixth felt really good
considering how I felt
when I saw a million and one
new teams
and my heart shattered.
Let's go.
Let's go!
I was happy with sixth.
- Yes!
- Yes!
Thank you!
Thank you.
It's all the way down there?
Straight? And then right.
Let's go, let's go!
We'll go up here
and we'll find someone.
Just go slow.
This way, this way!
Marker, marker!
Come, come, come, come!
Quick, quick, quick, quick!
Come on, Flick!
Aha! Over here, over here.
Hey, good job.
Go, girls. Come on, girls.
Carefully fill it with paint.
Do we need much?
How much do we need?
When I read the clue,
I'm thinking a step.
A small littlestep.
To my surprise, we turn the corner,
there's this massive step this big.
We were one of the first
To start painting.
..yeah, to start painting.
And we just went for it.
Go, Flick. This is
This is just
Yeah, gusto.
Yep. I got it.
Let's see Perfect!
Yay! Thank you.
When we went in the challenge,
we were first,
and I think we probably came out
about the middle of the road.
Yes, good job!
Thank you!
But this race,
it can go up and down
like a yo-yo
in five seconds.
Oh!
Let's go!
And now we need to make up time
with our next challenge.
Let's tie it up.
Yeah.
Mmmno.
Wrong.
Wrong?
Yes.
It's not on the right way.
So I got a bit worried,
to be honest,
because I was the first one
to find it
and there weren't many teams left!
Purple and then crystal.
Crystal. No, that and then crystal.
I actually met two girls
from the Sydney crew
that were, like, "Look,
I'll help you tie it."
Hold it, hold it.
Yeah, got it.
It works for them, it works for me!
Yeah!
That's it. Go, go.
Go, go, go, go.
Go, go.
Mori, go! Go, go, go, go!
Yeah! Great job!
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you! Yes!
Good, good.
OK.
Yes, good job!
Oh, yes, Tones! Well done, babe!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Good job, Steph! Whoo!
Good work, good work, good work.
Alright. Let's go.
You can do it, babe!
So I was coming last.
Keep going.
It was so stressful.
Wrong.
Wrong?
Yes.
Really?
Really.
OK.
Come on, Holly!
You got this, honey!
I was quite psyched out.
It is just baffling.
We're painting stairs
blue! We're painting stairs blue! ♪
One brick at a time?
This is gonna be quite meticulous.
Yep.
You don't realise
how hard it is
to paint with these fine
little toothbrushes.
We had two each and we're
painting, painting, painting.
I think it's actually very beautiful
that we have this opportunity
to contribute to Chefchaouen.
There will always be
a part of us here.
They should have let us
paint it pink, though.
Yes, good job!
Thank you.
Yes!
Getting that next clue
was absolutely amazing.
Well done! I love you!
I love you.
But we have not got time.
We have to make up our spaces.
So we just kept going.
Cool! Let's go!
OK.
OK. OK, brother, we gotta paint.
We're just painting this whole step.
Slow and steady wins the race,
Heath. Slow and steady.
I'm just trying to cover
as much ground as possible.
Do this underside first.
OK.
Do this underside first.
Yeah, we're doing this one.
Sorry. Sorry, you're kind of
in the way here, yeah.
It's a bit squishy, eh?
It's not easy, is it?
Excuse me.
It was really almost overwhelming,
because the cluster of people
when it's 18 teams -
it's just, like, crazy.
Here. Mori?
Yep.
OK.
Hi, boys.
Hi! Let's go.
Everyone was frantic.
Use two at a time. Yep.
And that made us feel more confident,
because it would be a good chance
that we could climb a little bit.
Hon, we gotta come down here too.
Are you good? Are you good?
Yeah.
Judge!
Judge already? Jeez!
Don't worry about anyone else,
please.
Just keep doing it.
How'd they smash that out
that quick, though?
Bit more? Chace, bit more.
If you put too much, Chace,
I think it peels some paint off,
so just dab, dab, dab, dab, dab.
Say when you want me to move
and I'll move.
It's all good.
So we get the shittiest square
with all the moss and the grass.
We thought, "Great, we've gotta
cover the step.
"And the grass as well."
And the grass!
We were, like, just dabbing it
wherever we could
to try to cover up the dirt.
If that moss moves, you've gotta
paint underneath that moss as well.
Oh, my gosh.
Don't spill.
OK, go.
Once we got there, we were last.
There were certainly a lot of
teams already there
almost finished their step.
Yeah, we knew we had
to move quickly.
Go that way? Stand on
I think
Can you guys stand on your step for
a second so we can move down? OK.
There's a blue area here
that we can all stand on.
Look, I love arts and crafts!
I've actually done quite
a bit of painting myself.
Wasn't the most artistic painting
I've ever done in my life.
It was more just kind of
Slop it on!
Slather!
Come on, let's catch up.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Keep going, keep going!
Yep, call it.
Judge!
This one.
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you! Thanks! Thanks.
Thank you!
"Travel on foot to the entrance of
Chefchaouen's bluest alleyway."
Chefchaouen is
an endless array of blue buildings
with matching blue doors.
In this challenge, teams must
first collect a photo album
with pictures of dozens
of blue doors.
They'll then work their way through
the labyrinth of corridors
to find three doors from
their book of photos
and write down the corresponding
street number.
Sounds easy, right?
Well, think again.
There are hundreds of nearly
identical blue doors to check
and it's all in the tiny details.
And it is way too easy to get lost
in this blue maze.
When they've found the three doors
and made their way
back to the judge,
they'll receive their next clue.
Sweet.
Thank you. Shukran.
Thank you.
Let's go.
We'll start from the top here.
OK.
OK, nuh. None of these. Let's go.
Yeah, nuh, nuh. Don't look at
the numbers. Look at the doors.
Let's go down there.
Nup.
What?
It's all good, it's all good.
Oh, here.
Solid, my girl.
Two doors left.
Tubs, is it worth
getting checked out yet?
Nuh.
No?
Off the edges and
paint the edge, yeah?
Oh, whoa, whoa, jump off.
Doesn't matter.
Jump off.
It's drying. It's not
gonna do anything.
No, just don't stand on it, please.
I just don't want it
I can't without standing on it.
You can jump on yours.
I can't!
Standing on yours!
Can you just get off, please?
Jump on yours and do it.
Oh, yeah, there was
definitely tension.
She had to do what she had to do.
I stepped off. I'm, like,
"OK, you know what? There.
"Don't want me to touch your step?
I'm not gonna try."
Oh, get over it.
No disrespect, but we just don't
want it to affect anything.
It's not going to. It's dry.
Yeah, but it could be coming off
onto your shoes.
It's the disrespect, for me.
Don't stand on our stairs
when we're trying to paint it!
Bringin' the psycho out of me!
And if you don't have my back,
the psycho's coming to you too.
Judge, judge! Uh, this one.
Yes, we got it! Thank you!
Thank you!
Shukran. Shukran.
Shukran, shukran.
OK, let's go.
Check.
Yes! Yes!
Thank you, thank you.
Yes! Thank you so much!
I could kiss you!
Well done, Tones. Route Info.
Route
Come on. Let's go, let's go.
We picked up the book.
Do you wanna do it
Thanks!
Thank you. Thank you.
Is it still blue
still blue alleyway?
Go, go.
Check up here.
Where you going?
Stay there. Stay there.
22 here? Oh, that's one of them.
I saw that one.
With the big round
Yes.
"Write the street numbers
of the doors
"in the grid at the beginning
of the photo album."
OK.
Let's just head
right down to the bottom.
Ooh, ooh, ooh!
No, that's not this one.
I think we picked the thickest one,
you know, Jodie?
And I'm saying to Claire,
"It's OK, I'm good at painting."
We need them to move.
You guys, we need
Guys, we need to get in
just here, sorry.
It was very challenging because
a staircase, as steps, is
..well, clearly one are
on top of the other.
That's how steps work.
You've got people standing
over your steps,
so I'm going sort of
under their crutch
to get my paint.
Watch your foot! Again.
Check!
Check!
Alright. Now get off your area
and paint.
You're hearing "Check! Yep!"
Thank you very much. Thank you.
"Whoo!"
Yeah! Stuey!
"Check! Yep! Whoo!"
Yes!
Thank you, thank you!
And we're thinking, "Ohh"
Thank you so much!
Thank you, thank you!
Watching these clues be handed out
like hot cakes.
Left, right and centre, yeah.
Yay! Thank you!
And we're still there,
painting a blue step.
Gotta get more paint, Gab. Come on.
Come on!
Alright.
Come on, babe. This is us,
this is us, this is us.
Nothing like coming in last place
to make you wanna go fast.
I think we're just about done!
Check, please! Check, please, sir.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much.
Remember that arrow?
Chace, this is one. This is one.
Here, here.
Number 9?
Yeah, 9.
9 is 9.
It's a lot of doors.
Telephones
Nuh.
No, what about that one?
No, don't think so.
Yes, we need
Doors.
We ran into a local man.
He kept saying, "I know where
those doors are. Come with me!"
"Come with me!"
Hopefully it will really help us
and we don't get lost
in the rabbit warren.
Oh, God. Really?
"Walk along and find a door.
"Write the street numbers of
the doors in the photo album."
Yeah, looks like number 6.
Then we write it. Beautiful. OK.
I feel like they're gonna
be further up.
Yeah.
That one.
Picture 20 is, um, number 22.
22. Don't show anyone.
Let's keep going. Good job.
We'll be here for a while.
Let's go this way.
This place kind of
all looks the same.
Everything's blue!
Everything is blue.
I see one!
2 is 7.
We're getting there.
Yep, move away from it.
Doing great, baby.
Ready yet? Check, check!
What's That one?
Good.
Thank you.
Quick, Flick.
Thank you!
Oh, man, I think, like,
a lot of teams have left, hey?
And it's a bit of a shame 'cause
we were one of the first here.
Yeah.
Is it still blue
still blue alleyway?
No, it's on the wrong side. Bugger.
Come on. Let's go.
I've seen this.
I've seen this one too.
I just wanna know
if it's, like, a law.
Do you have to paint
your house blue?
Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
Or did someone start a trend
and everyone just painted
their house blue?
But the blue works,
so good job, town.
Then there's this one.
I saw this one on there.
I saw this on there.
Is that 14?
Yes.
Yep. Nice.
I think we're good. Yeah. Yeah.
Check?
Yeah.
Check!
Check, please.
Yeah. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
Can we get a check, please?
Yes! Cheers, mate.
Thank you, thank you.
Let's go.
They're all starting
to look a bit the same.
What about this door?
No.
No.
How long does this road go?
We kept going up and up
and around the corner
and down and up and around.
"Oh, it could be there."
Ooh. No. Similar.
OK, now, let's go back.
Come on. Let's go.
Back to the beginning.
We were very appreciative
of wanting to help.
It's just that he
Probably another one
of our children.
actually never helped.
Probably coming last now
thanks to our little friend.
12. Oh
Yeah.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Yep, yep, yep.
Girls, girls, girls!
How you goin'?
Coming!
Can you show me
Yep, we've got that one.
We bumped into Flick and Gab
and Pako and Mori,
who are from our OG crew.
Hi, darlings. How are my OGs going?
Let's all compare notes.
We got one more
And at that stage, we decided
to really team up.
And that made all the difference.
Yeah, that was awesome.
OK. I think we're done.
We got it.
If I survive today,
I'm literally gonna be so happy.
We realised that we'd made up
so much ground
and we were back in the running.
Do you guys mind if we go first,
'cause we've got a penalty?
Come on, babe!
I'm right with you, darl.
Don't get lost.
Hello!
Yes!
Yes, yes! OK, Jake.
Come on.
Let's go.
Rip and read. Let's go.
Come on!
OK.
We're gonna be OK.
"Make your way on foot
to Restaurant Triana,
"with one of the best views
in Chefchaouen,
"and find Beau
at the next Pit Stop."
The Berber people
named Chefchaouen
after a pair of goat horns
which the mountains that tower
over the city are said to resemble.
Our now 18 teams
have raced from high above
this ancient blue city
and must find me here,
in the foothills below,
at the Pit Stop for the third leg
of The Amazing Race Australia.
And one team will be going home.
Let's go!
Come on, Holly!
Behind the square, they reckon.
I'm not coming last, baby!
Yes! Thank you, thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you so much!
OK, let's go.
Alright.
"Find Beau at the next Pit Stop."
"The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
Let's go!
Come on, girls.
Keep pushing through.
Keep pushing through!
Restaurant Triana.
19 is 26.
Let'slet's go to the judge.
Are we happy?
Go this way.
Yes, we've made it back.
Oh! Thank God.
Yay!
Thank you, thank you!
Thank you, thank you!
Hello, judge.
Please.
Yes! We did it.
Thank you so much!
We love blue doors!
We did it!
OK, what is it?
Have you ever done
anything like this before?
No, no. This is the first time.
Do you get nervous?
No.
No.
You are nervous.
Yeah, nah A little bit.
All morning. I see you.
Yeah. Thank you.
Are you enjoying blue Morocco city?
We were having a lovely time.
Look, I'm ready for another colour.
Hey, what's this one?
I love this door, it's beautiful,
but it's not the door
we're looking for.
This one here. Look.
OK.
This one.
Number 1.
Ooh. OK, what's up the top?
This beautiful Blue City of Morocco
is like a rabbit warren.
A blue rabbit warren.
A blue rabbit warren.
With lots of little tunnels
and holes and
..little nooks and crannies
that go somewhere or nowhere.
And being the blue team, I couldn't
hardly ever find Claire,
'cause she just blended in
with the doors.
I reckon keep going up here.
OK.
Argh!
Restaurant Triana?
That way. Down.
Let's ask them, Gab.
Restaurant Triana?
Triana.
Left.
Look! Right there!
Are we coming first?
I don't know.
Triana!
Baby, we did it! Come on.
Hey.
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Jake and Holly,
you are the first team to arrive.
The heavy artillery
has arrived, my friend.
However, because you did not
complete the dancing challenge,
you will serve a 30-minute penalty.
Please step to the side of the mat.
30 minutes.
30 minutes.
OK. OK.
We're not going home, though.
30 minutes is pretty sting-y.
It is pretty sting-y.
Flick, this way. This way.
Hurry up! It's the last bit!
I know!
Come on, it's here!
Hey, I can speak
a little bit of Arabic.
Really? Yeah?
Yeah.
Something, uh, food.
Yeah, it's all food.
Yeah.
It's all food and swear words!
We got it, Vinny. Back to the uncle.
Hello!
Hello!
Thank you! Yes!
Thank you! Yep. Yep. Yep.
Yay!
Check that way. Check that way.
Which way?
Triana?
The best views - it has to be up.
Wait, Gab!
Just go, Mori!
Gab! Hurry up, it's the last bit!
I know!
Girls, I'm so proud of you.
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you!
Flick and Gabby, you are
the second team to arrive,
but you are the first team
to check in.
Yes!
And you are one step closer
to taking home 250 grand cash!
Yes!
First first place.
First first place.
Nuts.
This means Flick and I
have some faith
that we've got it.
Doesn't matter if there's 29 teams,
100 teams or one.
We're competitive.
As the first team to check in,
you have won
two Samsung Galaxy Ultra phones,
two Samsung Galaxy Watches
and two sets of Galaxy Buds Pro.
Yes!
That's a total of over $5,000.
You girls are the real deal.
Thank you.
There was plenty of adversity
last night and this morning.
How did youse weave through your way
to get here to check in first?
It was hard 'cause there was,
like, a thousand teams.
Yeah!
Last night was so hard and stressful
and tears were everywhere,
so it feels good to be here.
Hold your heads high.
You did so well.
And I'll see you soon.
Well done, girls.
Whoo-hoo!
Let's go!
Whoo!
Pako and Mori, you are
the third team to arrive.
Yeah!
But you're the second team
to check in, boys.
Yeah!
Whoo!
Be proud of your efforts.
You're still in the race.
Thank you.
Thanks, Beau.
Thank you!
Ahh! Thank you so much!
Oh! Thank you. Thank you. Come on.
Yes, baby!
Yes!
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
No?
We didn't get it.
We just need to hope the other teams
have gotten just as lost as we have.
We are so lost. We've got
no idea where we are.
No idea. We're probably gonna
have to go right back up.
Racing up there again.
Yes!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Oh, gosh, thank you so much!
Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Cheers.
"Find Beau at the next Pit Stop.
"Hurry, the last time to check in
may be eliminated." Go!
Apparently number 7's wrong.
Let's go down here.
I reckon we go back this way
and down.
Go this way?
Yep.
That's this one.
Yeah.
Got the plants, the step.
So number 4
..is number 7.
Yeah.
Wait. Hang on.
No.

Yep, yep, yep.
Three, two, one!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you!
Thank you. Shukran.
Kathy and Chace, you are

Hello. You know Restaurant Triana?
Yes.
Yes?
Just follow those guys.
You sure?
100%? OK, let's go, let's go.
Hi! What's your name?
Oh, he's showing us!
Follow the dog.
Are you seriously following the dog?
Is it this way?
They're following a dog,
and she wants to follow them
following a dog.
The dog's going to sniff
some other dogs' butts or something.
Come on, Muffin!
Show us! Show us where to go.
Oh, here. Wait. No?
No, down here.
Quick, Chelsea and Jamus are coming.
Move faster!
Chelsea!
I've got the bags!
You don't see Kelly whingeing!

Jake and Holly, so far you have
served 10 minutes of your penalty.
Alright, mate.
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
"Hurry! The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
Alright. Let's go.
Right, that's what we're looking for.
We're 100% that's it, right?
God, how do we get outta here?
I don't know.
Try and have a little jog,
'cause we've gotta get there.
Might be the make or break.
Still in a race!
Judge?
Yes! Yeah!
Yeah!
Thank you!
You can have your little pen back.
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
We did it.
Come on, let's go.
We gotta get to the Pit Stop.
If you could pick a host
of any of the Channel Ten shows,
who would be your favourite?
Out of, like, Dr Chris Brown,
Jonathan LaPaglia and Beau Ryan?
Beau Ryan.
Beau Ryan.
Yes!
Yeah. OK.
Hey!
Go! Run, run, run!
Come on, Sammy!
Down here.
We were first, OK?
Alright. Alright.
Angel and Frankie, you are
the 10th team to arrive.
However, you are
the 9th team to check in.
Oh, yes!
Stuart and Glennon, you are
the 10th team to check in.
Oh, God!
Morgan and Lilli, that makes you
the 11th team to check in.
Sick!
Sam and Stu,
you are the 13th team to arrive.
That means you're
the 12th team to check in.
Well done, boys.
It's OK, baby. It's OK.
Oh, that's a different restaurant.
Oh, don't forget Holly and Jake
have a time penalty.
Jake and Holly, you've already
served 24 minutes.
Not long left.
Muffin! Come on!
Muffin!
Here!
Oh, my gosh.
Quick!
Whoo!
We did it.
- Welcome to Chefchaouen.

Beautiful city! Wow! So blue!
Sam and Alex, you are
the 13th team to check in.

In and down.
Triana. Go, go, go, go.
Where's Beau? Where's Beau? Come on!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you so much.
So beautiful.
Can we come in together?
Heath and Toni, you are
the 15th team to arrive.
But you're the 14th team to check in.
Oo-ee!
Tiffany and Cynthia, you are
the 15th team to check in.
OK.
Good job.
Triana! I see it! Let's go!
I can't see anyone else.
We're too
There's no-one else!
I think we're coming last,
'cause I can't see anyone else.
Down here.
You ready?
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
Shukran! Hello!
Crystal and Reem, you are
the 17th team to arrive.
That's alright! Not last.
But the 16th team to check in.
Oh! Penalty?
You guys are gonna make it.
Don't worry about them.
Just worry about yourselves.
Go rest, recover
and I'll see you soon.
Jake and Holly, you only have two
minutes remaining of your penalty.
I just won't relax
until we're OK.
It's gonna be OK.
If we're first to get here
and last to check in,
I swear to goodness
Triana! Triana! Come on!
Run down! Little run.
Where is it?
This says 'Triana'.
Come on! You got this!

Quick, quick, quick.
Come on! Come on!
There he is! There he is!
Welcome to Chefchaouen.
Thank you so much!
You're beautiful!
It's beautiful. Thank you.
Jodie and Claire
..you are the last team to arrive.
Uh-oh.
It's alright.
We did our best.
We did good.
We did.
We did good.
However,
you are the 17th team to check in.
No!
Oh, no!
Oh, no
Oh, no.
I know.
Oh, no.
Go rest and recover, girls,
and I'll see you soon.
Jake and Holly, please step
back onto the mat.
Jake and Holly, that makes you guys
the last team to check in.
And
..you're eliminated.
It's OK.
Your time on the race
is now over, guys.
Oh, man, this really sucks.
This really, really sucks!
It's pretty heart-break
When we got here first,
we were, like,
"OK, we've got enough time
to protect ourselves."
But the fact that we've gotten here
first and we're still eliminated
This must be a first time
in race history
that you land first
and still get eliminated, right?
That has to be the first time
that's happened.
First time I've seen it.
Is the race everything
that you thought it would be?
And more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're just so stoked
to have gotten here.
I've always wanted to go to
the Blue City, actually!
So, you know, I'm just glad
we made it this far.
You proud of each other?
So bloody proud.
Yeah. Sheshe really Yep.
I'm so proud of my girl.
Alright, bring it in, guys.
Hold your heads high.
I know it was hard.
Look after each other.
See you the other side.
Your time on the race
now is over.
Thank you, Beau.
Man!
Next time on The Amazing Race
Australia
..we travel to Athens
Athens, Greece!
..birthplace of the Olympics.
Teams must take aim
Is this upside down?
..fall in step
Three, four.
You think you're going
to pick this up?
..and try not
Take your time. Take your time.
They failed.
..to open Pandora's box.
Go, girls!
Not us? OK.
I reckon we're getting
the bad vibe from everyone
because they know that
we are a strong team.
She's a savage bitch.
