The Voice UK (2012) s06e05 Episode Script

Blind Auditions 5

1 # Times that I've seen you lose your way # You won't be told Hello and welcome to The Voice 2017.
Our audience are ready.
Our acts are backstage ready and nervously waiting to take the stage.
But nothing can happen without our coaches.
So please put your hands together for our fantastic four! Gavin Rossdale! Let's face it, we are pitching for our lives here.
We are pitching to find this superstar.
It's Sir Tom Jones! This business is not easy.
You have to fight your way to the top.
You've got to be able to handle the pressure on stage.
Jennifer Hudson! Things are about to get real.
It's now or never.
Put your hands together for Mr will.
i.
am.
What I'm looking for is someone who believes in themselves.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's your coaches! What are you doing? Getting my hand ready.
Will.
i.
am don't turn around for many people.
If he turns, I'd feel good.
My aim is just to get a turn but I'd really like Will.
I just feel like he's different and he'd get me.
He would get you.
Get back in your chair.
Anybody drop a note.
Drop a note.
Will! How many has Tom got now? I've got five.
I have seven.
How many have you got? Five.
Gavin, do you got seven too? Seven.
I've got three to go.
We're down to the wire.
What are you gonna say when I'm on the stage? Go, Mommy! Go, Mommy! Go, Mommy! Go, Mommy! Go, Mommy! Go, Mommy! My name's Shakira.
I'm 28 years old.
I'm from South London and I'm a full-time mum.
My daughter's name is Anaya-Skye.
She's two and a half.
She is amazing.
She's so enthusiastic.
# Every day I love you more and more And she's a mini diva.
Being a single mum, it can be hard.
We share a one-bedroom flat so we're in the same room together.
But it's fun so it doesn't matter.
I normally rehearse in the kitchen when she's sleeping cos it's echoey so it always makes you sound greater.
When I want to dress up, it's in the living room cos I've got the biggest mirror.
When I perform, I literally come alive and I just get to be me.
What's Mummy gonna do? Yeah! Yeah! Today is such a big moment for me.
I can't believe it's finally here.
Being on this show could really help change me and my daughter's life.
I don't want to be one of them mums that have to rely on benefits.
I want to show her that when hard times come, you can rise above it and, if anything, just work harder.
I know once I get on the stage and the beat starts to drop, it's just gonna all come alive.
It has to.
Can you see her? Yeah, Mummy.
Yeah.

See, he's sneaky.
Sneaky.
That's sneaky.
She was, like, "Where'd he go?" What's your name? My name's Shakira Lueshing.
And where are you from? I'm from South London.
Whoo! That was something but I'm looking at, you know.
Will.
Yeah, because what you're doing, to me It's his kinda t'ing.
That's the only reason I didn't press my button but I really loved it.
Thank you.
You're dope.
You're brave.
Thank you.
Not many people would come on here with hip-hop and say, "Look, here I am.
I need a platform too.
" "This is what I do.
" So I respect that, I do.
I loved it.
Thank you.
It was incredible.
Personally, all I was waiting for was for you to sing a bit.
Cos that was the only thing.
I loved the way you sound.
I turn around and you look incredible.
I look forward to see what you do.
Good luck.
Whoo! You don't have to sing to have a career in the music industry.
Turn on the radio and it'd tell you those aren't the requirements to play all over the radio.
So as I was listening to you, I was, like, "Wow, she's dope! She's got balls to come on this show and do the total opposite of what the show tells you it's about.
" When you think of The Voice, you think of somebody pelting and doing crazy runs and licks.
But you came up here and was, like, "Naw, forget that!" If I didn't turn around, then I wouldn't be representing where I sit in the industry.
If I would have came on the show, nobody would have turned for me.
But last time I checked, I sold a whole lot of records.
Emma just had a baby named Trixie but I know that's not Emma's baby.
That's my daughter, Anaya-Skye.
Your daughter? Oh, look at her.
She's going to be three in March.
Three.
Say, "Hello.
" Hello.
She's beautiful.
Welcome to Team Will.
Thank you, yeah! Congratulations.
Whoo! The fact that will.
i.
am turned for me just made me feel like I'm really meant to be on this show.
I just feel like we're going to make some serious magic! I know what it feels like to be the unlikely candidate.
From that perspective, I needed to turn.
Maybe she's a me.
Team Will, baby! Are you drawing, Will? Will, what you got? Aw, I like it.
Standby, here we go.
Would you like to do the honours? Yes, I would love to do this thing.
And action.
I'm Lawrence Hill.
I'm 25 years old and I play guitar and sing for a living.
For me, music started off very young.
We used to go on family holidays Often we would drive, which some of us hated - Mum - and some us loved, like me and dad.
Listening to all those albums that Dad had brought in the car made a massive impression on me.
When it come to secondary school, I tried to do music, was told I wasn't allowed because I wasn't good enough.
That door was firmly shut from day one.
But I always had it in my head, "Is it really?" Leaving school, I tried to be a gardener, a tree surgeon, an advertising guy, nine-to-five stuff.
I wasn't the best in the world so I decided that's not the way to go.
Left the job, went into music, got all the gear, no idea.
There's no going back now.
So my gigs range from playing in the smallest country pubs where there's 20 people to local festivals.
It's so natural to me.
It's where I want to be.
But it was just finding that confidence to go, "Right, I'm leaving all other work.
" "I'm just gonna focus on making music.
" So proud of you.
Got your back.
You deserve to be here.
You're willing to graft.
Of all the gigs that I've had, this has to be the biggest.
This could be the performance that changes everything.
It means everything in the world so it's big.
I want this to be my future.
It's now or never.
# Go on and close the curtains # Cos all we need is candlelight # You and me and a bottle of wine # To hold you tonight # Cos I know I'm going away # And, Lord, I wish # I wish it weren't so # So take this wine # And drink it with me # Let's delay our misery # Save tonight and fight the break of dawn # Come tomorrow # Tomorrow I'll be gone # I'll be gone # Yeah # Tomorrow comes # To take me away # And I wish, I wish I wish I could stay # But, girl, you know I've got to go # Ooh, Lord, I wish it wasn't so # Save tonight # Fight the break of dawn # Tomorrow I'll be gone # Save tonight # And fight the break of dawn # Come tomorrow # Tomorrow I'll be gone I'll be gone Wow! Hey, what's your name? Hey, I'm Lawrence Hill.
I'm 25 years old.
Where are you from? I'm from Hertfordshire, just above London.
Cool, great.
So check this out.
Sometimes magical things happen.
That was a magical thing.
Before you went on, I was drawing on my button.
The face I drew If you believe in enchanted events in life So I'm thinking you channelled the face I drew.
I realised there was a smudge on it.
"Oh, shucks, let me clean the smudge off.
" I thought I'd clean this eyebrow.
I pushed down on the button harder than I should.
"Oh, shucks, I hit the button but he is pretty dope though.
" That may be the strangest turnaround I ever heard.
The strangest turnaround.
It is a turnaround.
I'll take it.
I'll take it.
We're gonna spook the hell out of Gavin's team.
We'll do it.
I believe in destiny.
Uh-huh.
But destiny's also destination.
We'll get there.
Energies that we can't control are in control.
I don't know about that but your coach is crazy.
Let's go.
Congratulations, Lawrence.
Thank you very much.
It was an accident, wasn't it? I was really cleaning off the button.
You seen me! I did like this.
Hit the button.
You should clean it before somebody else comes out.
I've never felt so insulted yet happy at the same time in my whole entire life.
My grandma always told me - rest in peace - "Willy," "Willy!" ".
.
when you get lemons, you'd better make some lemonade.
" Lemonade.
We are making lemonade.
But he is good.
He is good.
He is good.
We're gonna make it work.
I'm on Team Will.
It might have been a happy accident but I'm gonna prove to him that I deserve a place on that team.
What's the best bit of advice you ever got? I was working in this paper mill.
This guy says to me, "I hear you can sing.
" I said, "Yeah, I can sing.
" He said, "What are you doing here?" I said, "Trying to make money.
" He said, "You've got to understand something - if you've got a passion for something and you feel you can do it, go and do it cos you can always come back here if you fail but you've got to give it your best shot.
" My name's Tom and I'm 22.
I live in a little village called Hextable.
Hiya, how are you doing? Everybody knows everyone.
It's nice like that.
I currently live at home with my mum and dad.
We are really close.
Tom is really easy to live with.
Apart from sometimes he sings in the bathroom rather loud.
I usually rehearse on the toilet because the acoustics are good.
But I'm not on the toilet.
He breaks the toilet seat.
Sometimes Mum pokes her head through the door and I'm on the toilet.
"Mum, I'm not singing this time!" Hi, guys.
You all right? I started working as a youth worker three or four years ago.
We're doing another fundraiser at the supermarket.
I work with young people and do music workshops.
Well done, you got it! You remembered it.
I want to do this to prove to them that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
If I can do it, it means they can do it.
I just want to inspire them.
# I've been walking in the same way # As I did # Missing out the cracks in the pavement # And tutting my heel and strutting my feet # "Is there anything I can do for you, dear? # "Is there anyone I could call?" # "No and thank you # Please Madam" # "I ain't lost # Just wandering" # Round my hometown # Memories # Are fresh # Round my hometown # Ooo-ah # The people I've met # Are the wonders of my world # Are the wonders of my world # Are the wonders of the world # Wonders # Of my world # Wonders # Of my world Of my world Go, go! Oh, nobody? Yeah.
Why didn't we turn around? I almost went then.
Me too.
It was OK.
The delivery was off.
It obviously didn't go It started out characterful and then it seemed to lose character.
Yeah, it had something though.
Just feel bad because he can really sing.
Yeah.
He's probably thinking, "What do they want from me?" It's all I've been thinking about for ages.
Just gutted.
Just gutted.
That was tough.
Don't think for one second that we don't feel for them and we're not sympathetic and we don't understand how hard they all work to sound this good.
We've been through it.
Yeah.
We're just trying to make sure that we get the best we can, that's it.
Good luck, Zara.
Thank you.
And they're watching others being rejected, seeing how tough we are.
Seeing a good singer walk off.
Yeah.
You're thinking, "Uh-oh!" It has to shake you up.
It's daunting, definitely.
Oh, dear! My name's Zara Okoro.
I'm 17.
I'm at college at the moment.
I'm from Northwich.
I live with my mum and my little brother.
I was definitely a secret singer at first.
I didn't think I could sing.
People told me and I was like, "No, you're mad.
" It's like an opportunity of a lifetime that you've got here.
Yeah.
It's a bit scary that I've gone from singing to myself, not letting anyone else listen to singing for these famous coaches.
It's a big step.
I am feeling really nervous at the moment.
I'm scared about how big it's gonna be and having all the people staring at you.
Doing this song today is definitely a risk.
It's a really big song.
I don't want to shy away from the notes because of my nerves.
It could go wrong.
I hope it doesn't.
I'd be just gutted if they didn't turn around.
It really is my dream.
Not being able to get it today would be saddening.
Let's see if this wakes us up.
Here she comes.
# "Son", she said # Have I got a little story for you # What you thought was your daddy # Was nothin' but a # While you were sitting home alone at age 13 # Your real daddy was dyin' # Sorry you didn't see him # But I'm glad we talked # Oh, I # Oh, I'm still alive # Hey, hey # Oh, I'm still alive # Yeah # "Is something wrong?" she said # Of course there is # "You're still alive" she said # Do I deserve to be? # Is that the question? # And if so # If so # Who answers? # Who answers? # Oh, I, I'm still alive # Yeah, yeah # Oh, I'm still alive # Yeah # I'm still alive Come on! .
.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah They're waiting for something and they don't know what.
I'm gutted.
I just messed up on the biggest opportunity I ever had.
I'm frustrated with myself for messing that up.
To be honest, the vocal just didn't do it for me at all.
I loved her and I loved that song.
She was strong.
Ay! We learn from our mistakes.
She did great and she's gonna learn a lot.
She's gonna be crushed but she's got a lot to take from this.
This was big and I couldn't handle my nerves in this situation.
But I think I know how to do that better now.
Do you think it's given you determination? Definitely.
I see fire in those eyes.
Love you, Will! Love you too.
We love you, Gavin! Well, yeah.
Of course you do.
Thank you.
Of course she loves Gavin.
Have a look at him.
My mum loves you, Tom! What was that, "My mother loves you, Tom"? Thank you, love! You just sing like you always do.
Ready? I'm ready.
Who's excited? We are Bosie.
We are from the sunny city of Glasgow and we're both 21.
We first started singing together in uni.
They said, "Pick a duet partner.
" You were standing next to me.
She chose me.
I had no choice in the matter.
No choice.
No choice.
You were, like, "What? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
" Oh, I don't sound Yeah, you do.
Are you ready? I'm ready.
Are you ready? Ready.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good, good, good.
How long have you guys been a couple? No, we're not going out yet.
We've not been a couple romantically ever.
We get asked that a lot.
Just say you feel the way that I feel I think if we were going out, we would drive each other absolutely crazy.
Yeah.
Definitely.
No point in complicating things.
Yeah, it's good.
Different.
Tonight's our biggest moment.
The song is very emotional.
I think the lyrical content suits us.
It's very, sort of, will they, won't they.
This boy-girl sort of tension that we have.
Just say you feel the way that I feel It's about somebody who wants to go out but they can't.
Not that that's what we're like.
But it's a very emotional song, I think.
# You give me that rush # I don't want it to stop When we walk out on that stage, we're gonna do the best we can.
We're very, very lucky we found something that we both love to do.
I'm looking forward to every moment of it.
Aw! I didn't say with you! Oh! We've got one chance at it so we really need to nail it.
# The world was on fire # No-one could save me but you # So strange what desire # Makes foolish people do # I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you # No, I don't want to fall in love # No, I don't want to fall in love # With you # What wicked games you play # To make me feel this way # What a wicked thing to do # To let me dream of you # What a wicked thing to say # You never felt this way # What a wicked thing to do # To make me dream of you # And I don't want to fall in love # No, I don't want to fall in love Yes! # Cos nobody Loves no-one Whoo! Hello.
Hi.
Introduce yourself.
I'm Taylor.
And I'm Richie.
Wow! We're from Glasgow.
Fantastic.
Welcome.
How are you? Better for doing that.
Do you go under a name? Bosie.
Excuse me.
Bosie - Scottish slang.
I'm Scottish.
Oh! Half Scottish.
Half of me.
But the half of me who is Scottish doesn't quite know what bosie is.
What is bosie? It's a hug, Scottish slang for a hug.
Nice.
Bosie.
Bosie.
We may work on that but otherwise, I think you're fantastic.
Who came up with the name Bosie? My mum.
Out of the blue, my mum said it and we were, like, "Ah, that's a good one!" Are you brother and sister? Just good friends.
Yeah.
First time we've been asked that.
It's usually are we going out? Cos I didn't want to ask if you guys bosie? A friendly bosie, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
So bosie in the hosie.
You sounded amazing.
It was just beautiful from the beginning.
Congratulations because you deserve to be here.
The reason I didn't turn was because I've already got two duos in my team.
I've got my hands full right there.
If I didn't, I would have definitely pressed my button.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
That's cool.
I've got to say, this morning, I was, like, "What am I really looking for?" I didn't sleep so good and my brain was working overtime.
That's what I needed.
You're the elixir I needed.
Thank you.
It means a lot.
What a sound together.
I thought it was fantastic.
I'm thrilled you're on my team.
Thank you.
Welcome.
Thank you.
I love them.
I loved that sound.
Team Gavin, are you happy? So happy.
So happy.
We're both delighted.
I think for us as a duet, it feels like it fits.
We're meant to be singing.
It's just Yeah.
It was unbelievable.
I can't believe it's happened yet.
It's not sunk in yet.
It's not sunk in.
Wait until tomorrow and I'll be like, "What the hell!" It's competition time and here's another chance to win a monster prize worth over ã80,000, courtesy of Warner Bros to mark the upcoming cinema release of Kong Skull Island.
Is that a monkey? You and three guests will stay four nights at the St Pancreas Renaissance Hotel, London and attend a special screening of the film this March.
Magnificent.
But that's not all.
You'll also receive ã45,000 tax-free cash and drive away this Jeep Cherokee Longitude Plus with 17" alloy wheels and cruise control.
So for your chance to win this amazing prize, just Good luck.
Coaches' next singer will be out in a few moments.
Just so nerve-wracking.
It's really overwhelming.
I can feel it in my gut.
Real singers, no doubt about that, but sometimes nerves can play a big part with the pitch.
Standby, here we go.
You've got to give it your best shot.
# Oh, watch out, watch out # Look out # Look out Gutted.
I could have done way better.
Is that the nerves thing again? She sounded pretty nervous.
Looking at the lights, the stage, everything.
I can actually see the chairs.
It's kinda feeling so real just being here.
Wow! # Make me your selection # Baby Let me love you My nerves were kicking in too much.
Yeah, just annoyed.
Really gutted.
Just, "Urgh!" Just didn't get off the ground for me.
No.
It's hard.
It's hard, honestly.
Come on to the top step.
OK.
My stomach's going.
My legs are going.
My hands are going.
I just want to get on and do it now.
I'll be fine once I'm up there.
I'm Scarlett, I'm 22.
I'm from Wales.
I'm a paralegal at a law firm.
Hello.
Scarlett speaking.
How can I help? I'm not only a paralegal in a law firm.
On the weekend, I host princess parties for children.
Can I have a big, "Hey, Cinderella!"? Hey, Cinderella! I absolutely love it.
I love the kids.
Bibbidy, bobbidy boo! Yeah! I've got a really close relationship with my mum.
She owns and runs a bridal shop.
She's my own fairy godmother.
It could look a bit more sparkly.
We'll put some more crystals on it.
Scarlett's not just my daughter.
She's a really good friend to me.
What mother wouldn't be proud? So this is your big day.
How are you feeling? I'm nervous.
I just want to get in and do it.
I'm auditioning for The Voice because I'm torn between a legal career which I love or I could follow my dreams and be a singer.
I've put everything into this.
My life has gone on hold.
Today will completely make my mind up for me.
Are you ready? I'm ready.
Let's hear some singing.
It's a huge, massive day.
# Don't you be wastin' # All your money # On syrup and honey # Because I'm sweet enough # Listen to me # One, two, three # Baby, baby, baby # Spe-e-end # Your time on me # Ooh-ohh # Spend it, spend it, spend it # Your Time on me Don't worry.
Don't worry.
You've done everyone proud.
Don't worry.
Of course I'm disappointed.
I don't know what happened.
Maybe I was too nervous.
It's good to have nerves but you've got to be realistic with yourself and know that, "OK, I can't be my best if I'm gonna be that nervous.
" You can't let it take you over like that.
No, but do you think that was nerves? I thought it was all nerves, all the way nerves.
I could cry any second.
My name's Dannii.
I'm 20.
I'm originally from Essex but moved to Guildford and I work in a jewellery shop.
I also work at a local restaurant.
I'm a food runner.
So I can't even say that I'm a waitress cos I'm not that good.
I'm just running the food.
Ugh! Argh! As much as I love the people I work with, it's not fulfilling enough.
It could go great.
Yeah.
Or, genuinely, I could flop so hard.
I've not really performed in front of big crowds before.
It's literally the most daunting thing ever.
It's really the fear of not being accepted.
I don't think I realised how bad I wanted it until I'm here.
This is literally such a big moment.
All right.
Let's go.
I'm thinking about today.
I'm thinking about this performance.
I just need a little bit of encouragement.
I just need somebody to believe in me a little bit more than I do.
# I tried hard to make you want me # But we're not supposed to be # And the truth will always haunt me # Even though it set me free # And my tears fall like the ocean # As we're falling in the breeze # They were falling in slow motion # And they brought me to my knees # Oh, you're haunting me, taunting me all in my brain # Turn off the light and all that remains # Fills me with doubt I'm shouting your name Oh-ho! # Why do you wanna put me through the pain? # I get the feeling I'll never escape # I can't hide away from the shame of you # There's tears on the ground # Tears on my pillow You won't bring me down # I'll get over you # Yeah These tears will get me through # And I'll get over you # I don't need you to call me tonight # I don't need you to see me if I'm alright Come on, Jennifer! # You left me so leave me I'm fine # I'll be here getting on with my life # Tears on the ground # There's rain at my window # The pain washes out Come on, Tom! # .
.
I'll get over you # Oh Go! .
.
I'll get over you Smashed it! Whoa! Hey, how you doing? What's your name? Hi, I'm Dannii.
I'm 20 and I'm from Guildford.
Oh, that's great.
I was so close.
She was.
Oh, my God! And then he beat me to it.
But, just for me, there was too many things going on.
I wanted to hear your voice which has a beautiful quality to it.
But when all the pots and the pans kicked in, it lost me.
Lot of pots and pans.
I'm, like, "When are we gonna eat?" Yeah, like, "Are we doing dishes?" Your voice got lost in there.
Yeah.
That's what this is about - The Voice.
I appreciate that, Jennifer.
You changed genre so much.
I was waiting to connect where it was intrinsically you.
Yeah.
To feel you.
And to be on Tom Jones' team is unbelievable.
He can guide you through that and bring about what's best about you.
Well, I listened as long as I possibly could to find out exactly where you were gonna go with the song.
You started strong.
Yeah.
Little pitchy but that could be nerves, I feel.
Yeah, yes.
But you have great potential.
Thank you.
I feel that I can bring that out of you.
That's why I turned.
I didn't want to let you go.
I didn't want you to not be on this show.
Thanks.
OK, so you're on Team Tom.
Whoo! Thank you so much! You've got a good one, that's for sure.
I was right behind you.
OK.
Oh, my God! Like, I literally fell to the floor.
I looked at my mum and dad and I was, like, "Are you seeing this?!" Just moving forward, I'm not gonna let him down.
I can't.
She needs coaching.
She needs to find herself.
That's what we are here for.
How are you feeling? It's surreal.
Mixed emotions.
I just want to get the song right.
Oh, my God! The singers that each one of us have, the competition's looking like it's really tough now.
It didn't seem so long ago that it was, like, "So many singers to listen to.
" "Don't want to make any choices.
" Like, "Argh!" The clock is ticking away.
Come on, bring it! It's the one chance that you get to do the song, 90 seconds.
This is definitely my big shot and I'm just so excited.
Breathe.
I'm Lucy Kane.
I'm 20 years old and I'm from Hertfordshire.
I have sung since forever.
I can't remember ever not singing.
Everyone at home is a performer so there's always music playing somewhere.
My mum is Linda Lusardi and she was in Emmerdale and she did Dancing On Ice.
My dad is Sam Kane.
He was an actor in Brookside and is now a singer.
I just think in a household like that that's where I've really learned how to sing.
I grew up doing pantomime.
I started when I was 12.
It's just been a massive thing in my family.
My parents met doing panto and I just met my boyfriend doing panto.
Are you missing your mum and dad? I'm just really glad that I'm here.
Everything I do is, sort of, "Oh, how's your Mum? How's your dad?" I guess this is a way of stepping away from my parents and being myself.
This is the biggest performance that I've ever done.
I'm just gonna try not to look at the chairs, not focus on them and focus on what I'm singing.
If one of the chairs was to turn, it would just be the most amazing feeling.
You know that they like you because of your talent and what you can do.
That would be the most rewarding thing.
# Tonight you're mine completely # You give your love # So sweetly # Tonight # The light of love is in your eyes # Will you still love me # Tomorrow # But will my heart # Be broken # When the night # Meets the morning sun # I-I-I'd like to know # That your love # Is a love # I can be sure of # So tell me now # And I won't ask again # Will you still love me Aw! I can't speak.
How are you doing? Goodness! Thank you so much! What's your name, darling? I'm Lucy Kane.
Where are you from? I am from Hertfordshire.
I am 20 years old.
Well, you sing beautifully.
Yeah, you sing.
Thank you so much.
I can't believe it! For me, it's getting so down to it for us.
We've got these teams filling up with people we all individually believe in.
I think you've got a really beautiful voice and it's beautiful to see that emotion come out in your voice and your personality afterwards.
You have a wonderful voice.
I know that song very well.
Yeah.
It was originally recorded by The Shirelles.
I toured with The Shirelles in 1965.
And he coached them! And I That was a great record and I used to listen to it every night but I loved your rendition of it.
It was fresh, to quote that bloke.
You have a beautiful voice.
I think you can sing a lot of different things so I would love you to be on my team.
Thank you so much.
OK.
Erm I love you both.
You're both incredible.
I love your music and you're so cool Thank you.
But I feel like I've grown up with Tom's music.
Me too.
My dad sings just like you.
Does he look like me? He's got the same-shaped head.
Oh! What, with two eyes and a nose and mouth? So I feel like I know you.
That's absolutely no disrespect to how incredible you are at all.
Thank you.
None taken.
I love him too.
So I think I'm gonna choose Tom.
Yes! Congratulations.
Watch your step.
Where's your father? Is he here? No, he's at home.
Oh! Who you with, then? I'm with my boyfriend and my brother.
Boyfriend?! Oh, OK.
Nice to see you.
My pleasure.
"Hello.
" I got a turn from Tom and Gavin.
"Oh, no! I'm so pleased!" "Oh, my darling, I love you so much!" "So proud of you!" "Are you all right?" I didn't mean that about the boyfriend.
I'm only joking.
Damn! I might have said that 20 years ago.
OK.
Or maybe 30 years ago.
Could have been 40 years ago.
I've got a good idea.
Maybe you should download The Voice app.
Here's a game you should play.
Play the I Want You coach game.
Watch the latest performances from the show and become The Voice Super Fan.
Unwrap this app now! What I'm trying to do is tell myself I'm good enough.
You are.
They're listening to your voice and your voice alone.
They're going to be judging me on every single thing.
Yeah.
I'm looking for that voice.
Superstar.
That superstar.
But they've got to have the voice.
That's what makes them a star.
My name is Miss Cherry Bomb.
I'm 40.
And I live in Spain.
My name is Israel J Allen.
I'm 26 and I'm from Walthamstow, East London.
I want whoever steps on this stage to have as much fight as we will have when we fight for them.
Exactly.
That's what we need.
We need somebody - We want to feel their hunger.
Yes.
I want to be as big as possible.
I want to sing.
I'll just walk out on stage and give it everything I've got.
I am going to belt out those notes, give every last vibe that I have into it.
I want someone to turn around.
I don't want to go home.
This is everything now in this moment.
I've got to forget about everything else that's going on and just be there.
# Diamonds are forever # They are all I need to please me # They can stimulate and tease me # They won't leave in the night # I've no fear that they might # Desert me # .
.
Diamonds are forever, forever, forever # Forever # And ever I love the song.
Didn't have the voice You were wonderful.
How close were you? I wasn't close at all.
I love the song but the voice didn't drive.
Tried to be too much like Shirley, I think.
Can you tell them to turn around in your song? No.
Maybe I should be the first person.
No, cos you'll be the last person.
Hi, my name's Israel J Allen.
I'm 26.
I'm from Walthamstow, East London.
I'm a musical director at my church.
I spend a lot of time here.
Sometimes I spend more time here than I do at home.
Love you, guys.
That's you guys, as well.
As a child, I was very shy.
I never used to say much at all to a lot of people.
I'm the total opposite now.
Today I'm gonna be singing And I Am Telling You by Jennifer Hudson.
I hope they like it.
Better make sure you ring them high notes cos Jennifer's gonna be listening.
To actually sing that song in front of her is scary.
When you choose the most massive classic, you've got to nail it.
If you were to do a Whitney song, you'd be like, "OK, listen, I'm gonna do it but I'm gonna put Jennifer on.
" "I'm gonna put my signature on it.
" Exactly.
I have to Jennifer-ise it.
I remember when we watched Dream Girls.
Literally when Jennifer Hudson finished, the whole room just, like, "Yeah!" She's amazing.
I can't believe Jennifer Hudson is there.
This stage is so huge.
You can't mess-up.
This is one chance you have to prove yourself, to prove your voice.
The stakes are so high, they've got to come out hitting home runs.
Burst through.
I want them to burst and not glide through.
I ain't felt that yet.
You have to give it your best shot.
# And I am telling you # I'm not going # You're the best friend I'll ever know # There's no way I can ever go # No, no, there's no way # No, no, no, no way # I'm living without you # I'm not living without you # I don't wanna be free # I'm staying # I'm staying # And you, and you Yes, you # You're gonna love me # Whoa # Tear down the mountains # Yell, scream and shout # You can say what you want I'm not walking out # Stop all the rivers # Push, strike and kill # I'm not gonna leave you # There's no way I will # And I am telling you # Ah-ah # I'm not going # I'm not living without you Not living without you # I don't want to be free # Yes, I'm staying # I'm staying # And you, Jennifer You're gonna love me # Love me # Love me You're gonna love me You called.
I answered, honey.
Wow! Oh, man, you hit it up! I want you to love me.
He sent you a direct message on The Voice in the audition.
Yes, he called.
I've seen it all.
What's your name? My name is Israel J Allen.
I'm a gospel singer from East London.
Whoo! Whoo-whoo! I've got to tell you even before you said Jennifer's name, I really wanted to turn for you because you sound so incredible.
Wait a minute, did you turn around too? Don't try to act like you picked him.
I did.
You did?! Yes! You are incredible.
What a voice.
Thank you very much.
So, at what point in time did you think to send her a DM in the song? It just happened.
Just to say this - when it comes to songs like that, when there's nothing else left to do vocally, I remember when I had to record that song for the film Dream Girls, like, "Jennifer Holliday did everything under the sun to it.
" "There is absolutely nothing left vocal to be done.
" "What do you want me to do, sing it on my head?" In times like that, you have to make a song your own.
You want to create those diva, dramatic moments.
Bam! Command the band! Where they stop and you just ring out.
# You're gonna love What's right before that? # Staying, I'm staying # And you, and you, and you # You're gonna love me # Love me # Love me # You're gonna love # Oh # Please #.
.
Yeah You've got to sing.
Thank you very much.
Oh! # You're going to love Oh! Come on, boy, help me down these stairs.
I'm a godmother now.
Just cos you haven't said yet, what is your choice? Wait a minute, you did not come here for Gavin, yo! Don't act like you did.
We've got to let the guy speak for himself.
OK, Gavin, fine, fine.
If you're just tuning in, Israel sang a song and direct message to Jennifer Hudson but Gavin is now fighting to pitch.
I always wanted to be a rock singer, actually.
Well, I can help you with that.
Wait a second.
Whoa! Things are getting heated.
Whoo! We have to talk, Israel, huh? Israel, you're welcome onto Picasso where I have nothing but artists.
It's right up to you.
Israel, do the talking.
What you got? OK, so - One more thing - I know how to stop a band.
Oh-ho! I called Jennifer.
Jennifer answered.
I choose Jennifer Hudson.
Oh! Tipping on over here to you again.
Thank you.
Congratulations.
Tremendous! Nice to meet you, Sir Tom Jones.
Thank you.
As real as it gets.
That's as real as it gets.
Oh! This is crazy! Normally I would go for a voice like that but not with you sitting there.
With that song.
God! It's mind-blowing.
It really is.
It really is mind-blowing.
Thank you, guys.
