Help! My House Is Haunted (2018) s06e08 Episode Script

History Repeating

You are not welcome.
I want you to go.
Help me. Help me, please.
Across the UK
Whoa!
I heard that.
Did you hear that?
Oh, my god!
..terrified homeowners are being
plagued by the paranormal.
"I can see you."
I am scared to death.
I need to know, am I safe?
Thankfully there are
three people
(KNOCKING)
Where did that come from?
What was that?
I've got goosebumps.
No! I'm not going to get out.
Oh, my god. Ian, don't leave me.
..who will stop at nothing
(GASPS)
Someone's behind me.
Who's here with us?
Ah!
What the hell was that?
..to return our homes
Can you just take the emotion
away from Jayne, please?
Two spirit forms.
Barri, you're scaring me.
Right next to you.
..back to the land of the living.
Ah!
(SCREAMS)
This is like a horror movie,
isn't it?
No!
Guys, I feel there's going
to be some form of twist
to this investigation and
I don't think it's going to
be that straightforward.
Oh. That's interesting.
It's never
really straightforward, is it?
In this investigation
Oh, my god.
Look there's two spirits.
There's two spirits.
Oh, wow. Look.
Oh. Barri, you're scaring me.
Right next to you.
..a lady who has bought back her
haunted childhood home
As a child I did feel like
I was always being watched.
..that's now terrifying
three generations.
Vinnie, her eldest son,
keeps saying
he can see an invisible lady
playing with his toys.
It's a curious case of history
repeating for mum and daughter
Where did that come from?
What was that?
I've got goosebumps.
..as the team finds out
"An angel."
..what's plaguing the property.
Oh, my god.
That is so clear, isn't it?
I don't know whether
it is significant
but I've actually got
this corking headache,
really powerful headache.
It just feels like maybe
something's happened
to somebody's head or they've had
a brain injury or something.
Although Barri and Jayne
have seen case notes,
medium Ian relies solely
on his psychic senses.
Do spirits often impress their
sort of afflictions on you?
Yeah. I think it's their way
of communicating, Barri.
You know, if they suffered
in a particular way
or had some form of illness,
they're going to impress that
on me, so I understand.
Our experts have been called in
to investigate
this 1920s timber cottage
..which was home to mum Elaine and
is now owned by daughter Danielle.
I grew up in the cottage and,
when I was 18, I moved away.
And then I've recently come back
to move into the cottage
about a year ago with my family.
I want to enjoy living here
but I just feel I can't because
of the activity in the house.
So, when I lived here as a child,
I did feel like
I was always being watched.
My sister had seen a spirit
in what was her bedroom.
She thought that the lady
was actually a nurse.
She said she looked at her
and then she just disappeared.
I never actually experienced
seeing a ghost
until I moved back recently.
As I was driving down the drive,
I saw a lady
in the kid's toy room
and she was looking out
of the window.
She was angry, almost to say,
"Who's this on my land?"
Like,
"What does this person want?"
I know my son has seen her
as he described her to me.
He said he'd seen a lady in the
toy room and I said to him,
"Is she a happy ghost?"
And he said,
"Oh. No, Mummy. She's angry."
Then, this morning,
my four-year-old ran frantically
down the hall to my bedroom.
He was hysterical
and he'd said to me that there
was a voice in his ear,
that had taken a deep like
(GASPS)
Like a gasp.
My children are petrified.
As a mother, I just want
to protect my children.
I try to brush it off
and say to him,
"It's your imagination,
it's a dream."
But I know that
that's not the truth.
I grew up in this house.
I got married in the garden.
I had my third child here.
This house is my absolute life
but if it did get
even worse or carry on
then we would
have to consider moving.
How are you feeling, Ian?
I'm quite nervous,
if I'm honest, Jayne.
I feel quite emotional.
This is it, you guys.
Oh, this is so unusual.
Really?
While Barri and Jayne head off to
research further into the case
Good luck.
Good luck.
See you later.
..Ian's about to find out
what lurks within these walls.
Hello?
Hello?
Wow.
Wow, this place is awesome.
There's just something pulling me
straight in front
..and I can hear a voice.
Hello?
Whoa.
I'll tell you something -
this feels
really, really strange
and I feel there's something
below my feet.
So there's either a link
with the land and the house
or vice versa
but there's just this pull.
There's this magnet.
To dig a little deeper
into what could be causing
the paranormal activity,
I've come to meet historian
and good friend
Penny Griffith Morgan.
Well, Penny, we normally
meet somewhere nice and warm
with a coffee.
Why on earth have
you brought me here?
I do apologise
but we're standing on the site
of the former
Caterham Mental Asylum graveyard.
Oh, my. Oh, that's actually
made me go freezing cold.
This is a graveyard
from a mental asylum?
Yes. It was huge.
When it was first constructed it
had room for over 1500 patients.
By the early 1900s,
that number had more than doubled.
So whereabouts,
in relation to this asylum,
was our house?
What are we talking about?
A kilometre as the crow flies.
Oh, OK.
But here's an old ordinance
survey map from around 1940.
And you can see there
the mental hospital was there.
It's huge.
It was massive.
And I think,
from where I've placed,
the house is around here.
Well, let's talk about the house
because it's quite
a striking building,
it's quite unusual looking.
What I did find was a story
of a lady who lived there.
Audrey Emily Dyke,
in September 1938,
she had twin daughters
from her first marriage
to her late husband,
who had died in World War One.
And then she married
Reverend Walter in the 1921 census
who had been her lodger.
They got married in Caterham
and the wedding reception
got taken back to the house,
to your client's house.
Right.
I can hear a female's voice
and what feels really weird,
this part of the kitchen,
I sense a male's energy here.
I don't know why I'm seeing
a dog collar, though,
but I am seeing some form
of dog collar.
What's the connection
or is it this house
that belongs to him?
Hello?
The cottage has been in the
family for over 35 years
..so I've come to meet mum Elaine
to find out
what she's encountered.
Now you lived in the house with
your husband and three children.
Yep.
So did you experience
any paranormal activity
in that house?
I did, yes.
One night,
I was sitting watching the TV
and something just made me
turn around.
And, when I turned around,
I saw a tall figure of a man
just standing in between
the kitchen and the lounge.
And he just sort of stared at me,
had his hands in his pockets
and then he just faded away.
And I did get locked in one
of the bedrooms there once.
Did you?
When I was five months
pregnant with Danielle,
put Louise up to bed in her cot,
turned around to get out
and the door was locked.
I couldn't get it open at all,
I was stuck in there.
I grew up in a haunted house
and I know, for a fact,
that my mum kept
a lot of the experiences
that she had from me
to stop myself
and my sister being scared.
That's it. You do, yeah.
Did you keep things from them?
Yeah, I did.
I never wanted them
to be frightened.
There's definitely a female
walking around this house.
Now, what's confusing,
I'm not sure whether
she's connected to the property
but she's here for some reason.
And the headaches I had,
when I was in the back
of the car,
is getting stronger.
This female is quite depressed
and quite angry.
But there's just something
about the land
that is drawing me constantly.
I just want to look out
the windows all the time.
So, what has Danielle
actually seen?
She saw an angry looking woman
looking through the window
into the garden.
And she's had footsteps
walking along the landing
of a night time.
And she's thought maybe it
was the kids
but they're heavy footsteps.
So they're an adult footstep.
Wow.
Vinnie, her eldest son,
he's four.
He keeps saying
he can see an invisible lady
playing with his toys
in his toy room.
And he does get quite frightened
quite often.
Like, he doesn't want to go
to the toilet on his own,
he wants somebody to go with them
because he thinks
there's somebody's there.
Oh, wow.
I wasn't expecting this.
This house is like a Tardis.
There's just something going
off to my left,
which, unfortunately,
looks like a child's playroom.
Hello?
I feel this female spirit
is attracted to the children
..but there's another female
and I almost feel
she doesn't belong here.
I feel the ancestors who could
have lived in this house prior
would definitely have seen
or sensed or heard spirits.
So is there anything else
we should know about?
In World War Two,
a lot of hospitals
were repurposed
to have military hospitals
within them -
Caterham was no different.
It was now known
as Saint Lawrence's
and, in the November of 1940,
Caterham as an area got targeted
a few times by the Luftwaffe.
The hospital took a direct hit.
A young woman, a nurse -
called Pauline, who was 17 -
she got trapped in the rubble.
If that wasn't bad enough,
above her
was the hot water tank
..and they couldn't rescue her
before the hot water tank broke
its couplings and killed her.
Oh, my god.
Even the rescuers are said
to have been traumatised.
After what we've learnt about
the case so far,
it's no surprise Elaine and
Danielle have called us in.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
I'm Jayne. Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
So, just out of interest,
I feel your children are drawing
a lot of energy in here
and I feel that's almost
like drawing spirits
into this property.
Right.
So has your children
seen anything
or sensed or heard anything?
My children have -
in particular, my eldest,
my four-year-old.
He has experienced spirits
in the toy room
as well as their bedroom as well.
But I actually grew up
in this house.
You lived here?
Yeah.
I did, until I was about 18.
And I sensed things for sure.
I would hear things
but make excuses in my head.
You know, "It's a noisy house."
I never actually saw
anything until recently.
Now, Elaine,
you're the only person
to have seen a male spirit
around this area.
Standing roughly there where
your camera lady is, more or less.
Did you pick up on anyone, Ian?
I picked up on a man
in your property
and he was like a priest,
a vicar, a reverend.
JAYNE: What?
Seriously?
Yeah.
There's a reverend
that used to live here,
Reverend Walter Edwin.
He lived here.
He was a lodger
and then he married the lady
who owned the house
at the time, Audrey.
Oh, I didn't know that.
As this house
is so seemingly active,
we're going to begin by recording
for Electronic Voice Phenomena.
Given that this is the area,
Elaine.
What did you hear?
There's a lady's voice.
A woman's voice, a whisper.
I'd like to speak to the lady,
the female energy
that's here now.
Can you please tell me your name?
Is this your home?
I just heard breath.
I can hear that.
Can you tell me your name,
please?
Can you see us?
Where did that come from?
What was that?
JAYNE: What was that?
Oh, I've got goosebumps.
Did you hear it?
That was horrible.
Let's play that back.
Where, where
That almost came there.
It was like a shhhh.
Yeah.
OK, I'm playing this back.
(RECORDING) Is this your home?
Is that a yes?
Yeah, a woman speaks.
It sounded like a "mmm".
Was that "Hmm, yes"?
There is a yes.
Or "Why, yes"?
It's a woman's voice on there.
My oldest daughter,
she woke up to see a lady
sitting on the edge of the bed
reading to James.
She thought she was a nurse,
my sister.
She thought she was a nurse
or something.
But she had, like,
old fashioned clothing on
but she was actually reading
a book to my son.
Do you know what?
I've been finding out
some interesting information
about this area and this land.
And I don't know if you know this,
ladies,
but literally -
across the way there -
there used to be
Saint Lawrence's Asylum.
It was huge,
over 1500 people at one point
Yeah.
..and there was
a tragic accident at the asylum,
where a young nurse -
aged 17, called Pauline Lewis -
was actually crushed by
a hot water tank.
Crushed?
Oh, wow.
Crushed, killed instantly.
Oh.
(KNOCKING)
Is anyone upstairs?
No.
Oh.
That sounds like a creak
coming from
OK.
I do get a lot of walking along
the hall upstairs.
Look,
you have had activity up there.
In fact, you was trapped
in a room up there.
Which room was you trapped?
It was up the stairs,
on the right.
OK, shall we go there then?
Yeah.
Yeah? OK. Let's go.
JAYNE: OK.
Ian's going to take Elaine
and Danielle upstairs,
while Jayne and I observe
from the nerve centre.
Right.
Ian's got the Alice Box,
which will announce responses
picked up in the ether.
So I'm calling out to
any spirits in this room
who would like to try
and communicate with us.
Can you hear my voice?
There's definitely
100% of female here
as I'mas she's coming
through to me,
I'm conscious of her
on my left hand side,
just stood near the doorway
..and she's watching us.
DANIELLE: "Satan"?
"Satan"?
What?
You told me there's a reverend
that lived here?
JAYNE: Yeah.
Satan and sacrilege
would be absolutely relevant
to his time
and his role as a reverend.
The Bible tells us that,
actually,
mediumship is completely
frowned upon.
Maybe he feels
it's sacrilege in his home
Yes, I agree.
..to be doing this.
IAN: How do you feel?
All the activity's always
around my children.
So, as a mother,
I just want to protect them.
So you call out,
you claim your house back.
You tell him how you feel
and what you want.
I would like you
to stop scaring my children
because they are petrified.
The temperatures dropping
quite quickly now
and it feelsit almost feels
as if there'sthere's more than
one spirit with us.
It's just said 'area'.
Is this the nurse?
She's from the land,
from the area.
Based on the Alice Box responses,
I feel that you may be
communicating with this nurse,
this female spirit.
I'm going to join
the others upstairs
to record some EVPs.
So there's lots of stuff
going on.
There's vibrations,
there's footsteps behind us.
"Map."
"Map."
OK.
Is that a map of the area?
"Religion"!
Wow.
"Religion".
So religion is then linking
with potentially the priest
or the vicar,
that would have been here
Absolutely.
..that I made contact with.
I need to make a point of saying
the first couple of words
that came out of Alice then was
Satan and sacrilege, wasn't it?
That definitely relates
to possibly this reverend.
What we're doing now,
communicating with the dead,
is occult practices.
It might be considered
sacrilegious.
DANIELLE: Right.
ELAINE: Right.
So that gives me an idea that
we definitely are communicating
with the male spirit.
Yeah.
I heard that thee reverend
or the vicar that lived here
did not like children.
He used to have a stick
and used to,
"Get out of my way."
Really?
Let's do some more kind of
digging for the reverend.
Yeah, definitely.
EVP recording upstairs,
spirit triggers.
Who are we communicating with?
Have you got a man with you?
Is he a vicar?
(GASPS) No way.
Shut up.
What?
I just heard "vicar".
Where?
I've actually just heard "vicar".
OK.
OK.
Turn that off for a minute, Ian,
I'm going to play this back.
I definitely heard
what I think is a DVP.
(ON RECORDING)
Have you got a man with you?
Is he a vicar?
(GASPS) No way.
No, no, no.
I can hear, I can hear
I can't hear the word 'vicar'
but I can hear something else.
"They're entering the room."
Oh, was that it?
You can definitely hear
a sentence.
Listen to it.
"They're entering the room."
"They entered the room."
Yeah, it is. It is.
I do hear it.
Do you hear it?
Yeah, yeah.
That's amazing.
They, more than one spirit.
Yeah.
Honestly, we've got a huge
investigation on our hands
because we've identified
this male energy,
which may be the reverend,
Reverend Walter
Yeah.
..but then we've
also identified a female energy -
possibly a nurse,
who may well have been fatally
killed in an accident.
Then who
was the other female energy
and who left their voice on
the recorder just now?
I wonder if this other lady
is Audrey,
the widow
who then married the reverend.
Guys, would you
all come back downstairs?
I've got an idea.
OK, we'll meet you in the lounge.
Alright, let's go.
Grab that.
I'm going to suggest something
we very rarely do
but I think, in this case,
it could be effective.
Now, ladies,
I'm wondering
if there's an easier way
for them to communicate with us,
through an old traditional
spirit board.
Wow, OK.
Are you up for trying
that with us?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Spirit boards were a popular
form of divination
after World War One
and Audrey lost her first husband
during battle.
If she engaged
in this practice back then,
she might feel comfortable
communicating this way.
Barri and I will help you.
We'll get some energy
into the board. OK?
So we'll put our finger on
and then clockwise,
if you move your finger
and let's actually physically
move the planchette ourselves.
Clockwise direction.
Putting energy into the board.
Calling out to any spirits now
that can hear my voice.
Please come through
and communicate with us.
Back to the middle.
Can you please come forward
and talk to us?
It's turning.
That's it, that's it. Come on.
There was a massive breath
behind me.
OK.
I'm sensing the reverend is here
and he doesn't approve
of what we're doing.
Is the female able
to be forceful?
Use all of your energy,
really try hard.
It is going, it's moving.
It's moving forward.
It is moving.
Please can you come forward,
we really want to speak to you.
There you go.
We really want to speak
to the female.
Can you not hear that?
I feel something heavy
on my back
..like a pressure.
Did you know Reverend Walter?
If you could move the planchette
to the centre, it's moving.
Why don't you
ask if this is Audrey?
Yeah.
Is this Audrey
that we're speaking to?
Audrey, are you there?
Whoa, look.
Making a better connection
with the planchette now.
It's moving again.
It's going towards 'A'.
Mmm.
Mm-hm.
It is. It is, it is.
It is.
Wow, that's amazing.
Can you sense the man?
Mm-hm.
He's stood near the doorway.
He won't come in the room.
He's a very dominant energy.
Mm-hm.
I can hear the word being
repeated to me, "despicable".
Despicable.
He's angry.
Yeah.
Audrey, is Reverend Walter angry
that you are communicating
with us?
It's just done yes.
Yes.
I wonder if the females
are quite willing to speak
but they're being prevented
from communicating in this way
because the planchette is now
going towards like no, I think.
And it would be frowned upon.
Yeah. Hmm.
We bring the spirit board session
to a close.
We've got a really
interesting investigation
ahead of us tonight.
So we're going
to meet you tomorrow
and reveal our findings.
So thank you very much
for joining us.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
And see you tomorrow.
See you in the morning.
Thank you.
With darkness upon us,
Danielle and Elaine leave us
for the night.
To capture any unusual activity
during the investigation,
cameras are being placed
across the entire property,
which will be constantly
monitored by our team
in our nerve centre.
So the crew's busy setting
up the cameras right now
for the investigation
and are concentrating our efforts
with three particular areas.
One will be upstairs
in the corridor,
where these footsteps
have been heard.
The other is in the bunk bedroom,
where Danielle's sister Louise
saw what, apparently,
is the apparition of a nurse.
But also downstairs,
between the kitchen
and the front room -
where Elaine saw, well,
an apparition of the man -
this could well be the reverend.
Well, I think this evening,
the reverend
is our biggest problem.
We need to find him
and deal with him first
so that we can speak
to any of the spirits.
Yeah, I agree.
Well, shall we head
to the living room area first?
Barri, to nerve, over.
FEMALE: Go for nerve.
Can we please switch
all the cameras to infrared?
Copy that.
Right.
It does feel very different
in the dark, doesn't it?
It does, doesn't it?
Yeah.
Yeah, quite uncomfortable.
We're going to run Echovox,
in the hope the reverend is
willing to communicate with us.
Good evening.
My name's Jayne and
I'm here with Ian and Barri
..and we would love to speak
to you, please, sir.
ENTITY: Oh.
Oh.
What?
"Yes."
"Yes."
Yeah.
Were you happy here
in this house?
(TAP)
What?
Tap, tap, tap.
Yeah.
Where did you hear that?
There, somewhere.
There.
Upstairs.
Yeah.
"Reverend."
I heard "reverend".
Did you?
It was in two. Yeah, reve-rend.
Reve-rend.
Could you confirm to me, please?
Are you here in spirit with
your wife, Audrey?
"Yes."
Audrey,
would you speak to us, please?
Concentrate and try and
talk to us, please.
Do you think he's holding back
the other spirits, the ladies?
I do.
I'm just speaking out loud here -
do you think we need to appease
Rev Walter,
in order to communicate
with the others?
So maybe say a prayer
and send him to the light.
So we'll put him at rest.
I think it could be easier
for us to communicate
with the other spirits
if he was sent across.
It's unusual to pass over anyone
so early into the investigation
but it's the only way the females
will be able to speak freely
with us.
I'm calling out
to the reverend
..in the name of the Father,
the son and the Holy Spirit.
I want you to walk towards me
as I guide you into the light.
We ask dear Father
for you for you to open
that doorway into your world -
which is heaven -
and embrace him in your love
and light and happiness
..as that doorway slowly
closes behind him.
Amen.
Amen.
In the name of the Father,
the son and the holy spirit,
amen.
Well, now that he's gone,
shall we try
and communicate again -
either with Audrey or the lady
who could be a nurse?
We move to the toy room,
where Danielle and her son have
spotted an angry looking lady.
Danielle's son
Vinnie's only four.
Mm-hm.
He's in here.
He refuses to go and play
on his own sometimes
because he says that there's
a lady in here.
That's interesting.
Wow.
We're going to use an ITC app
called Spirit Talker,
which will announce words
and phrases.
The lady, are you here?
You love children.
Maybe tell us your name,
what happened to you,
why you're still here?
(GASPS)
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, wow.
Wow!
Thank you, God bless you.
So you visit this room,
that's amazing.
Thank you.
I don't think
this lady is angry -
in fact, I'm feeling an entirely
different emotion.
I feel really sad in this room
Yeah.
..really sad.
You ask then.
Can you hear my voice?
Why do you visit the children?
Are you trying to care for them,
to look after them?
Can you hear me?
She's really upset.
I feel really upset.
Are you alright?
"An angel." OK.
It says, "I'm an angel."
God bless you.
Can you just take the emotion
away from Jayne, please?
Sorry.
"The darkness."
Is Jayne feeling that darkness,
that sadness?
It's OK.
We're going to help you -
I promise -
but just take that energy away
from Jane.
It's just too much.
You OK?
Why do you feel so sad?
You alright?
Mmm.
"Silent."
Oh.
So Jayne's feeling
that emotion of Audrey
because she was silenced.
I don't think this is Audrey
because AudreyAudrey's
children grew up.
They, you know,
were healthy girls.
It said, "It's me."
"It's me."
Oh, my god.
It's Audrey.
It is Audrey.
Oh, wow.
I can't believe that,
I can't believe that.
"Yes, it's me."
"Yes, it's me."
But it's nice
'cause it's confirmed.
Oh!
Oh, my. Wow.
Oh, that's amazing.
Oh. You're so welcome, Audrey.
I think what we do know,
for certain,
is that Audrey's definitely here.
Her focal point is this room
and it's the children.
But there
is another female spirit.
The other female spirit was seen
upstairs in one of the bedrooms.
So, yeah,
this is Louise's old bedroom.
Yes.
Danielle's sister.
And, when they were younger,
Louise woke up and saw a woman
who looked like
she was in a nurse's outfit.
So, actually,
we can't ignore the possibility
that this nurse could be
Pauline from the asylum.
OK.
Before we begin,
I'm setting up an EMF trip wire
on the landing -
which will flash
if a spirit goes near it.
Barri to nerve centre, over.
FEMALE: Go ahead.
Can you see the EMF tripwire
I've just placed in the hallway?
Yeah.
If it flashes, do let us know.
Copy that.
Jayne's got the spirit box,
which sweeps radio frequencies -
allowing entities to communicate
through the white noise.
There was a lady seen
in this room,
who appeared like a nurse.
She seemed very caring
and she was sat
at the end of the bed.
Was your name Pauline?
I've also got the SLS camera,
which shows spirits
as stick figures.
Ian?
Yes.
There's a large figure
that's just appeared on screen.
Yeah.
Oh.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Behind you.
Still there, still there.
To your right.
In the doorway to your right.
"The lady."
Is that what it said?
Did you hear it?
It said, "the lady."
The lady.
Brilliant.
Who's the lady?
Is the lady called Pauline?
Ah.
You alright?
Ah.
What happened, Rich?
What?
Our camera operator
just felt a freezing cold force
move through him.
The SLS just crashed as well.
You don't like it?
Eugh, no. That's really horrible.
Alright, OK. Hold on.
Eugh.
Uh, I just saw a flash
on the trip wire.
Did you?
Yeah, and again.
And again. And again.
It's going blue.
That means there's a spike
in the EMF.
'Watch', it just said 'watch'
Did it?
..just then
through the spirit box, yeah.
A female voice.
Can you make that flash again,
please?
There, there, there.
Oh, brilliant.
Who's there?
Who's there on the landing?
Speak to us.
You feel it?
I don't know.
And again.
Can you move into here?
Yeah, we can go into there.
OK.
Well,
Rich doesn't want to go in there.
Literally, when I was standing
inside the door,
I felt like someone
was standing right behind me.
Did you?
Hello?
Hello?
Who's the lady?
Aimee, don't move.
There's a figure in the doorway,
right behind you.
Oh, god. Yeah, there is.
Right behind you. Rich.
Now our other camera operator,
Aimee, has company.
Aimee, don't move.
It's behind you.
Behind you.
Who's the lady?
Is it going off as well?
Guys
Hello?
..there's another one floating
mid-air.
Oh, there's two.
Do you feel anything, Aimee?
What do you feel?
Just cold.
Oh, my god.
Look at this, two spirits.
There's two spirit forms.
Oh, wow. Look.
Two spirits forms.
Right next to you.
So there
are definitely two spirits.
Audrey has confirmed
she is one of them
but we need validation
that Pauline is the other.
I would like to spend
some time in that bedroom -
with the ITC device, on my own -
and just see
if she'll communicate.
OK.
Ian and I will position ourselves
in this bedroom
..while Jayne tries to connect
using the Alice Box.
If you've joined me,
can you tell me who you are,
please?
Can you tell me
why you're in this house?
'Second'?
I just asked
why she's in this house
and straight away
"Woman."
Second woman.
So you are the second woman here?
We know about Audrey,
that this was her home.
But why are you here?
Do you belong to the land?
'Trapped.'
Guys?
Yeah.
I asked her if she belonged
to the land
and she said, "trapped."
Oh, wow.
Wow.
If this is the nurse,
if this is Pauline,
are you telling me
that you were trapped?
"Down."
She was trapped
because the ceiling,
the asylum, the water tank
fell down on top of her.
Is that what you're telling me?
(GASPS)
"Paul."
I'm asking for Pauline.
Oh, my god. Paul.
My mum's name was Pauline
and my dad used to call her Paul.
Pauline, thank you so much.
After all the evidence gathered,
it's clear what we need to do
to help Audrey and Pauline.
While Ian leads us in prayer,
I'm going to run the spirit box
to see if we get
any further communication.
In the name of the Father
and the son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
We pray, Father, for your doorway
to be opened into ours.
Audrey, Pauline,
if you can hear my voice
I want you to walk forward
..towards this light.
You'll start to feel the warmth
if you look forward.
Your family will be there
waiting for you.
We pray for your soul.
In the name of the Father,
the son and the Holy Spirit,
amen.
The next morning,
Danielle and Elaine return
to find out
if we've given them the help
they so desperately needed.
Morning. Hiya.
Morning.
Morning, morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Alright?
Morning.
Morning.
Well, we had a busy night,
didn't we?
We did.
Very interesting.
So we decided
to begin our investigation
in the living room area.
And that'sthat's really
to try and concentrate
on the reverend's energy.
That's where you saw
the male presence.
Yeah.
We used an ITC application
called Echo Vox.
Now, Echo Vox is an application
that uses banks of phonetics -
sounds, not full words.
OK.
We got some amazing validation
of responses.
(ON RECORDING) My name is Jayne
and I'm here with Ian, Barri
and we would love to speak
to you, please, sir.
IAN: Yes.
Yes.
That was him?
Thatoh, my god.
That is so clear, isn't it?
There's no mistaking
what he said.
Wait until you here the next one.
Oh, don't. (LAUGHS)
So we really wanted to know
who we were speaking to
and he answered the question.
ENTITY: Reverend.
"Reverend."
Oh!
Another question was asked
about whether or not he was
here with his wife, Audrey.
And there is a clear response
to this question.
JAYNE: (ON RECORDING)
Are you here, sir,
with your wife, Audrey?
Oh, yes.
"Yes."
So, up to this point,
we'd been communicating
with Reverend Walter.
We actually tried to communicate
more with maybe Audrey
or whoever the other female
here was but we couldn't.
There were no responses, really,
and we thought,
"OK, this is quite clear then."
Reverend Walter does not
want them, for whatever reason,
to be able to have an open
channel of communication to us.
And so we actually decided
that Ian
needed to cross over
Reverend Walter,
to help with
the investigation later.
Right.
So I opened the light
or heaven's gates as we'd call it
and he slowly walked through.
Wow.
So once he crossed over,
quite quickly,
we began to get
a sense of the lady
OK.
..and we were drawn into
the toy room.Right.
Now Danielle, you've seen a lady,
haven't you, in that window?
Yeah, and my son has seen the
same lady in that room as well.
Well, Danielle, when you saw
her looking out the window,
you seemed to interpret
her expression as being angry
Yeah.
..didn't you?
Well, actually,
I felt like there
was a lady there
who was deeply frustrated,
deeply upset
and wanting to get
a message across.
And she hadn't been able to speak
or communicate to anyone.
Wow.
We had some amazing
and quite intelligent responses.
(ON RECORDING) An angel. OK.
"I'm an angel."
That was when Jane started
to get really emotional.
It was like there
was a connection to children
and a very protective energy.
We thought, at the time,
we were communicating
with what you mentioned -
maybe a nurse that your son
was talking to
at the end of his bed.
Yeah.
So we'd learnt about Pauline -
a nurse,
who was tragically killed at 17
when, during World War Two,
a bomb hit the asylum.
Oh, wow.
..and she was crushed
under a water tank.
And we just couldn't escape
the possibility
that the two may be connected.
However, we were having this
debate in the toy room
and I said, "Actually,
I don't think this is Audrey."
Ian said, "It is."
And then this response happened.
(RECORDING)
Who do you think this is, Jayne?
I don't think this is Audrey
because AudreyAudrey's
children grew up.
They, you know,
were healthy girls.
"Yes, it's me."
"It's me."
Oh, my god.
There were a few more responses,
which I'll play for you.
(ON RECORDING) Oh.
ENTITY: Thank you for listening.
Oh, my. Wow.
"Thank you for listening,"
was that?
Yeah, yeah.
That's her?
(ON RECORDING) Oh.
Oh, my. Wow.
Wow.
That's brought tears to my eyes.
That's horrible.
Poor woman.
Yeah.
So we still weren't clear
whether Audrey was the lady
in the bedroom -
reading to your son -
or Pauline, from the asylum.
So we split up
and I went in that bunk bedroom
and I was using an ITC device,
which generates words
and I'll explain them as
we go along.
OK.
(ON RECORDING) 'Trapped.'
Guys.
"Down."
So, I was calling out to Pauline.
And obviously we've
already talked about the bomb
that hit the asylum
and the fact
that she was crushed,
she was trapped.
I then wanted to know her name
and we got this.
(ON RECORDING) (GASPS)
"Paul."
Pauline.
Oh, my gosh.
You said straight away,
"Pauline."
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, my mum was called Pauline
and she was nicknamed Paul.
Shortened it, yeah.
Yeah, I know a Pauline
Wow.
..that's called Paul.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it gave meit's giving me
chills now.
Yeah.
That was so spot on.
Yeah. Now, from upstairs,
we came back down
and we felt it was time
to pray for all the spirits and
to help cleanse your property.
We put a candle in front of us.
We lit it and we used that
as a focal point
for the spirits to see the light.
So, first of all,
I asked Audrey to come
forward towards the light,
to feel the warmth.
And the reverend actually
came back and took her hand
and walked her through
into the light.
Oh, he did?
Yeah.
ELAINE: Wow.
And then we had to obviously
send Pauline
Yeah, I'm just
..into the light
Right.
..but it was
very important that Pauline
needed to lose her conditions
that she suffered with.
She had a tragic death.
As she was walking through
the light,
I was asking for her conditions
to be lifted.
But, Elaine,
you was very emotional there.
Can I ask why
that emotion hit you?
I don't know. It justit just
seems quite sad, in a way.
Yeah.
I feel happy
that we've helped them
but it just feels sad
that they've been stuck here
all these years -
probably for about 100 years.
I think
what you've got to remember
is now the reverend
is at peace
Yeah.
..Audrey's at peace
and Pauline's at peace.
That's lovely.
Thank you.
Thank you so much. Thank you.
What a relief.
It's been another compelling
investigation
That was amazing, wasn't it?
Yeah, what a story.
Beautiful house, though.
..but who knows
what the next case will bring?
