Help! My House Is Haunted (2018) s06e09 Episode Script
Lost Child of Anglesey
You are not welcome.
I want you to go!
Help me. Help me, please.
NARRATOR: Across the UK
Whoa!
I heard that.
Did you hear that?
Oh, my God!
..terrified homeowners are being
plagued by the paranormal.
(WHISPERING, BARRI GASPS)
I can see you!
I am scared to death.
I need to know, am I safe?
Thankfully, there are three people
(KNOCKING)
BARRI: What was that?
Where did that come from?
I've got goosebumps.
(STACCATO VOICE)
No, I'm not gonna get out.
Oh, my God! Ian, don't leave me.
NARRATOR:
..who will stop at nothing
(BARRI GASPS)
Someone's behind me.
Who's here with us?
(BARRI SCREAMS)
What the hell was that?
NARRATOR: ..to return our homes
Can you just take the emotion
away from Jayne, please?
BARRI: Two spirit forms.
Barri, you're scaring me.
Right next to you.
..back to the land of the living.
(BARRI SCREAMS)
Stand right behind you!
This is like a horror movie,
isn't it?
(SCREAMING, FLICKERING, RUMBLING)
(TENSE, HIGH-PITCHED TONES)
(BIRDS CHIRP)
Guys, I feel there's gonna be some
form of twist to this investigation.
You can feel the energy changing,
crossing this bridge,
you know, guys.
I wonder if this water's
chargingthe island.
Mm.
But we're entering the unknown.
I've never been here before.
Have you?
BARRI AND JAYNE: No.
No, neither have I.
(CREAKING)
NARRATOR: In this investigation
(IAN YELPS)
Oh! Sh
..a family home
The house just feels so haunted.
It's really weird.
It, it gives you a chill.
..full of mysterious voices
(GASPING)
I thought I heard one of my boys
calling my name. "Daddy, Daddy."
Go out there. There's no-one there.
..plagued by lost souls
(GIGGLING)
There was a little paupers' cemetery
for when peopled died
in the workhouse.
They were buried
somewhere in the area.
..who don't want to leave.
I've never experienced that before.
He went into the door.
He looked back and came back.
Aw!
(RUSTLING, FAINT SPEECH,
TINGLING NOTES)
(TENSE NOTES)
I'm feeling really
charged for this one, guys.
I feel quite excited.
Mm.
Yeah, I feel a bitexcited, too.
"Energetic" is probably the best
JAYNE AND IAN: Yeah.
Yeah, I think so,
and given the little bits
we know, Barri
Mm.
..there's gonna be interesting
..history and experiences
that we need to look into.
I can't wait.
NARRATOR: While Barri and Jayne
have studied case notes,
medium Ian refuses to learn anything
about investigations in advance,
to be sure it's only
his psychic guide
that's informing him.
I know we're still
a few minutes away, Ian.
But are you getting any sense
of who, or what we might be
dealing with at this property?
I do see a little boy
with a flat cap.
Is he communicating with you?
No. I can see him.
He looks quite confused and lost,
and, andI'm just looking around
to see what he's looking at,
but he just seems very
..sad, really. Very
..confused.
The team have been called in
to investigate this four-bedroom
Edwardian house
(CREEPY TONES)
..which is home to Lorna,
her husband Jay,
and their five children.
(CREEPY TONES, RUSTLING)
It's known locally
as the haunted house.
(GASPING)
It's great at Halloween,
'cause the local children
and teenagers
seem quite scared
to come up to the front door.
There are times when we do feel
that maybe we are being watched,
or when there's a noise
and you can't explain
(WHISPERS)
..where it's come from.
The first real thing that came out
was when one of our children
kept waking up at about 4:00
in the morning,
and coming in to us, and saying
that his brother had woken him.
His brother was asleep,
so we asked more about that,
and he said, "No, no, no.
The ghost brother."
And that was it, really.
We, erm, we started to realise
that maybe there was more going on.
(WHISPERED SPEECH)
My husband Jay
was in the bathroom one day.
He heard a noise outside,
and a voice that said, erm, "Dad,"
and he went to check what that was,
and none of the children
were anywhere near the bathroom.
Our eldest daughter
actually saw a white shape,
which kinda looked a bit misty,
and a bit of shadow with it,
move straight across the hallway,
and couldn't explain that at all,
and she was looking straight at it.
(DOOR CREAKS)
I feel there is something strange
happening in the house.
I'd like to see and know
exactly what it is.
Something that would
just prove beyond doubt
that there is something here,
and to find out what they want.
My husband Jay
is a bit of a sceptic.
He has seen and heard things.
Er, but he still questions it,
and it would be really interesting
if Jay was to change his mind
on the things that he was seeing
and experiencing.
That would be a really good outcome.
(HIGH-PITCHED, MUFFLED TONE)
BARRI: Here we are, guys.
Oh, wow.
It's this beautiful property,
just here.
Amazing.
Do you feel like the house
was watching us then?
Yeah.
Watching us arrive?
It's really creepy.
Honestly.
I was waiting for somebody
to look out of this window.
It looks like a haunted house.
I know.
Well
..it may be a haunted house.
NARRATOR:
While Jayne and Barri head off
to find out more about the case
See you later.
BARRI: Good luck.
NARRATOR:
..Ian will try to make contact
with any spirits that may be inside.
Hello?
Hello?
(SOFT NOTES)
(IAN PUFFS)
(SOFT NOTES)
It's really funny,
'cause I was drawn
..to a little boy
on the journey here,
and as soon as you enter this house,
I just feel
I think it's a kid thing,
but I do feel he would play
around the staircase.
So I am gonna go upstairs.
Hello?
Hello?
I can hear whispering already.
The house just feels so haunted.
It's really weird.
It, it gives you a chill.
(ECHOED THUD, TENSE TONES)
JAYNE:
I've come to the local churchyard
to meet up with historian
Warren Kovach,
to find out more about the house
and the area around it.
What can you tell me
about this beautiful place?
Well, we're in the middle
of the village of Llannerch-y-medd.
It's a fairly ancient village.
It might be seen as a bit of a
sleepy little village at the moment,
but it was the main market town
on Anglesey.
Another thing that's interesting
about the area
is that just up the road,
there's a large old building
that used to be the workhouse
for most of Anglesey,
and this was one that was built
in 1868 as the main workhouse
for all of Anglesey, really.
But when you look at the censuses
for the times during that,
there were seven or eight children
who were obviously orphans,
because they all had
different surnames,
and there were no parents
with the same surnames there.
And apparently there was
a little paupers' cemetery
for when people died
in the workhouse.
They were buried
somewhere in the area.
(RATTLING, RUMBLING)
IAN: This room take my breath.
It gives me a very nervy feeling
in my stomach.
I can feel my
almost like my tummy twisting.
(FAINT ECHOED TONE)
Now I'm feeling
..excited, and I'm feeling scared
at the same time,
so this little boy
that I'm linking with
..is giving me mixed emotions.
I wonder if
..he's come from a place,
or travelled from a place,
and he's looking for a family,
or he's looking for his father.
Because he seems very sad.
(SMASH, ECHOED WAILING)
Well, obviously, Warren, we're here
because the family
are experiencing some unusual
Right, yeah. Mm-hm.
..activity in that house.
So what do you know about it?
The house? Well, it is relatively
new, compared to around here.
The house was built,
probably around 1906, 1907.
That's when it first shows up
in the records.
The first occupants are John Hughes,
and his mother, and sister.
It was just three of them there,
because both John and his sister
were single and never married,
and their elderly mother
was widowed.
And they lived there
until John died in 1926,
and then after
that the Elias family came,
and they only had one child there,
all the way up to 1981,
when Elias died.
So it feels to me
that it's a lovely big home
that hasn't really
fulfilled its potential.
You know, you imagine
loads of children running round,
especially then
Yeah
..when families were large.
You would imagine, yeah.
(WARREN STAMMERS)
It's a lovely old house, but it was
just never really full of children!
I feel quite sad.
I feel really, really sad,
really emotional in this room.
I feel
Did you hear
that little boy's voice?
Did you not hear that?
No.
That was a little cry,
or a little hum, or something,
coming from
..that corner of the bedroom. I
I feel uncomfortable,
like I shouldn't be in here,
and I don't know
why I feel like that.
But there was just a little cry,
or a little murmur
from this side of the bed here.
Hello?
Who's trying to reach out?
What's your name?
Heard a kid.
Whereabouts?
Crying somewhere here.
Near, right by us.
Well, that's where I could hear it,
but I thought it was in this corner.
I couldn't describe the sound.
Could you?
No.
It's almost like he's
Whoa.
What the fuck was that?
That was, that was in that corner.
(DOOR SHUTS)
The door just shut.
Door just shut.
There's no windows open, is there?
No.
(SHUFFLING)
There's no draught.
Did you, did you hear
that kind of mumbly noise here?
Yeah.
I'm wondering
if it shot past you, then.
Hello?
(DOOR LATCH CLICKS)
Where was that?
It was in this area, I think.
There's an energy of a man here
..and I think that potentially could
be what this boy's looking for.
Hello?
(RUMBLING)
BARRI:
'I'm meeting Lorna's husband, Jay,
'to get his take
on what's been going on.'
Jay, thank you so much
for meeting with me.
We are literally in a park,
looking at your house.
Yes.
It's a beautiful house.
It certainly is.
But there's something strange
going on in there, isn't there?
There is. And, er,
the reason why you're here
iswe have someongoings
that I can't explain.
So you're a bit of a sceptic.
I certainly am, yes.
Just explain to me
what you've experienced directly.
I've seen lots of shadows.
(ECHOED TAPPING)
I witnessed, er
(ECHOED TAPPING)
..what I thought was one of my kids
in a window upstairs
while I was outside.
Wow.
It was a silhouette.
Um, but there was no-one there.
Incredible.
OK, and how do you know
it wasn't one of your kids?
Er, they were all downstairs.
Um, there was no-one up there,
and the door was locked.
(CRACKLING, GASPING)
IAN: What?
(SOFT FOOTSTEPS)
Where's that coming from?
That was a child's voice.
That was a child's voice.
And it was a little boy's voice.
Hello?
Can you hear me?
(WHISPERS) What?
That Yeah.
Was that a cough?
That was, that was
I wonder if that's an indication
of how he passed.
I wonder if he's giving me
a chestcondition.
Yeah. Could be.
You have experienced things,
and seen this boy's apparition.
But what about other phenomena
taking place in the house?
Going from the bathroom
to outside, into the corridor,
er, I thought I heard one of my boys
calling my name. "Daddy, Daddy."
Go out there, there's no-one there.
Have you come face to face
with a ghost in your house?
No.
I don't think so.
The closestI would say,
a white shadow moving from the
toy room into the sitting room.
That was out of
the corner of my eye.
And how big was this shadow?
Er, I'd say probably
..about five years old,
but sort of mid-flight,
moving across the hall.
I can't believe
you're still a sceptic
after seeing almost
a full-bodied apparition.
I mean, what would it take for you,
Jay, to become a believer?
Um, I like evidence that I can see.
I have seen some stuff
that I can't debunk myself,
and part of the reason
why you're here
is to, you know,
prove something to me.
Prove to me
there is something after life.
Make you a believer.
Yeah, why not?
That's interesting.
There's an awful lot of toys
in here,
and I think that would attract
this little boy.
So it wouldn't surprise me
(FOOTSTEPS, TENSE TONES)
..if he hangs around in here
quite a lot.
Because I can feel his energy here.
But there's just this man,
and I feel
..my arm is, is
giving me a lot of pain.
I do feel
..there would've been
some deathin this house.
I don't think this case
is straightforward.
So maybe the family
think it's quite nice.
But things can always escalate.
So I'm pleased they've called us in
when they have.
(TENSE, DRAMATIC NOTES)
JAYNE: 'I've come to the house,
'along with Barri, Lorna and Jay,
'to meet up with Ian and carry out
our spirit trigger session.'
Ian?
Hiya.
Hiya.
You OK?
Yeah.
Hi, mate. How are you?
Yeah, good.
Hi, I'm Ian. Lovely to meet you.
Lorna, nice to meet you.
(CROSSTALK)
I'm kinda confused.
Um, on the way here, can you
remember I picked up on a child?
BARRI AND JAYNE: Yeah.
I'm not convinced
the boy lived in this house,
for some reason,
but I do feel
he's walking around the house.
Why don't we start
doing some EVP work here?
OK.
OK.
If this little boy's spirit
is aware of us now,
he might communicate with you guys.
So, Lorna, do you wanna call out
on this one?
LORNA: Yeah.
See whether we get a response, yeah?
Yeah. Hello, are you here?
Can you tell us your name?
How old are you?
(CREEPY NOTES)
And did you live here?
Are you missing anybody?
Do you like to try and play
with our children?
End recording.
Do you hear something here?
JAYNE AND LORNA: Mmm.
JAYNE: Yeah, but I couldn't tell
what it was.
I could hear somebody saying,
they said it like this,
"It's Arthur."
Really?
LORNA: I felt a shiver again.
Did you?
Down this side.
Right, OK. Arthur.
That, that is a little bit solemnly.
Mm-hm.
IAN AND LORNA: Arthur.
I've gone the hot down one side.
Hot?
Yeah, down this side.
I keep getting shivers!
JAYNE: Right.
OK, well, he is in that direction,
so he's obviously charging you,
which is great.
Let's, let's calm.
(LORNA GIGGLES)
Let's play this back
JAYNE: Yeah.
..see what we've got.
LORNA: "Hello. Are you here?
"Can you tell us your name?
"We've heard you before
"..and we'd like to know
a little bit more about you."
(SHUFFLING, STEPS)
"How old are you?
"And did you live here?
"Are you missing anybody?"
Who's walking around?
LORNA: Walking around.
JAYNE: There's footsteps.
Didn't you take a footstep back?
I went like that
(CROSSTALK)
That was a definite one-two.
Clear footsteps, yeah.
That was more
"Did you live
"..old are you? ..more about you."
(SHUFFLING, STEPS)
"How old are"
That's not me. I went like that.
That was really clear.
Three, three footsteps.
Yeah.
Have you ever heard footsteps here?
Yeah, loads.
Yes.
That was heavy footsteps.
It was heavy. Yeah.
Interesting.
We've heard heavy footsteps,
and lighter.
JAYNE: I think it seems like
the little boy
maybe came in the way
that he normally came in,
and possibly went up the stairs,
'cause then we all heard
LORNA: The knock upstairs.
Shall we make our way upstairs?
Yeah.
BARRI: We've definitely connected
with the child spirit
Ian thinks is called Arthur.
And I'm hoping to communicate
more with him upstairs.
Ian, do you wanna call out?
I'm calling out to a little boy.
Or Arthur.
Are you here?
Are you with us?
(BEEPS)
FAINT VOICE: Am.
(MUMBLED SPEECH)
Who was doing that?
LORNA: I just heard that.
JAYNE:
'The app I'm using made a noise.
'But at the same time, we all heard
laughing from downstairs.'
Was that anybody down there?
No.
That was laughing.
(BEEP)
That sounded like the landing
(CROSSTALK)
LORNA: Shadow.
Shadow?
JAYNE: Yeah.
Did you say you saw,
like a silhouette?
Like a shadow in the window?
That's what I've seen previously.
LORNA: Our eldest
has seen a shadow
Yeah.
What did you hear?
What did you just hear?
LORNA: Laughing.
JAYNE: Yeah, it was laughing.
OK. That was definitely this area.
That was really clear.
I'm getting shivers again.
(IAN LAUGHS)
Just down this side.
OK.
Yeah.
(SOFT THUDS, CREAK)
Did you just speak?
I heard a voice.
JAYNE: No.
So did I.
Mm.
I thought it were Jayne.
I thought she looked in there
and said something.
That's what I thought.
I just had a rush of wind
pass me on this side.
(BEEP)
JAYNE:
"I've been using an Alice device,
"an instrumental,
trans-communication word bank
"that spirits can use
to talk to us."
SOFT VOICE: Walk.
Walk.
Walk.
LORNA: Oh!
And Jay's just
LORNA: Yeah, rush past.
JAYNE: You had a rush past you,
and now the Alice device
has said "Walk".
Let's play this whole file back,
because there was laughter
that was heard as well.
(STATIC BUZZING, SOFT BEEP, SCRAPE)
What was that?
LORNA: Mm.
Heard a little giggle.
Yeah.
(BEEP, GIGGLE)
LORNA AND JAY: Yes.
I heard that.
Yes. That's what we heard.
Did you hear that?
Yeah.
That's so clear, isn't it?
LORNA: It's so clear.
"Do you want to play?"
(STATIC BUZZ)
What were that?
(RUSTLING)
(FAINT WHISPERING)
That is a child. That's
a whispered child's voice, 100%.
Listen.
(STATIC BUZZING, WHISPERING)
"Hear my" what?
Play it again.
(STATIC BUZZING, WHISPER)
JAYNE: "Hear my"
LORNA: Hear my, that's really clear.
"Hear my"
Breath.
I thought it were "breath".
That is a breathy response.
IAN AND JAYNE: "Hear my breath."
Jay, do you wanna carry on?
Yeah, sure.
Do you like playing with our son?
What do you like to play?
Here.
You're hearing something there?
It was like a huff.
I felt it.
It didn't feel directly behind me,
but I felt it on my neck.
(WHISPERS) Do you wanna go there?
Ask, ask his name.
What's your name?
(GASP)
Did you hear that?
JAYNE: Yeah.
LORNA: Mm.
Yes. I heard that.
Is your name Arthur?
(FAINT TONE)
I heard that.
I heard a "Yes".
Really high-pitched.
JAYNE: Do you think
LORNA: It sounded up here.
JAYNE: Yeah.
LORNA: Like high. Not there.
It was (HIGH-PITCHED) "Yes!"
End recording.
'I think there was something
on the landing,
'and once we've settled
in the lounge,
'I want to play back my recording.'
BARRI: "Is your name Arthur?"
(MELANCHOLY TONES, FAINT SPEECH)
LORNA: "I heard that.
I heard a yes."
(FAINT SPEECH)
"Is your name Arthur?"
(BREATHY SPEECH)
Arthur.
Yes!
LORNA: Yeah.
Sounds very breathy.
It is, it is two breaths.
Arthur.
JAYNE: Yes, it is.
LORNA: That's really clear.
Jay, did you hear that as well?
I did, yes.
Yeah, to me
You can hear "Arthur"?
Yeah.
Ian, did you pick up
on a male energy as well
on your walk round?
I did.
Well, the most prominent male
to have lived here, really,
was John Hughes. The Hughes family.
LORNA: Yeah.
JAYNE: He didn't have any children.
LORNA: Yeah.
Right.
But he lived here
with his mum and his sister.
Um, I'd like to use
this ghost box device,
which will sweep through
white noise and radio,
in order to try and elicit a response
from either Arthur
LORNA: Mm.
..or this
John.
..adult male spirit
that you've picked up on.
Do you guys wanna call out
and ask questions?
But listen to the responses.
(STATIC BUZZ)
Mr Hughes?
(BUZZ CONTINUES)
It would be really good
if you could talk to us now
(FAINT BUZZ)
..and come in the room.
Come and stand with us.
'Unlike upstairs on the landing,
'we're not getting
any communication with spirit here.'
It's gone flat.
It's really weird. It's just
(BUZZ)
OK.
End recording.
Um
Mm.
Now, that's interesting,
because you normally expect to get
..spirit responses, and almost
a kind of battle to communicate,
if there are multiple energies
in the house.
Little Arthur
could've been in here playing,
and then as we came in
LORNA: Mm.
..and maybe John Hughes came in
to see who we all were,
it scared him away.
So in spirit,
Arthur may well have
been really drawn here now,
'cause you've got kids in the house.
LORNA AND IAN: Yeah.
It's filled in the way
it always should've been, really.
Yes.
So you guys have been amazing.
You've given us a great start
to the investigation,
but we need to crack on. Thank you.
Thank you. Good luck.
LORNA: Thank you. Thank you.
See you in the morning.
LORNA: See you tomorrow.
(EERIE NOTES)
BARRI: As darkness falls
(OWL HOOTS)
..Lorna and Jay
leave us for the night.
(DOOR HANDLE SQUEAKS, DRAMATIC NOTES)
To capture any unusual activity
during the investigation,
I've placed cameras
throughout the house.
They will be constantly monitored
here in our nerve centre.
What an amazing spirit triggers.
That was so active.
Yeah.
And I'm hyped tonight.
I can hear everything.
Listen, I've got the crew setting up
the remaining cameras in this house.
It is quite large, but I'd like
to concentrate our efforts
upstairs in the spare front bedroom,
and also the landing and stairs.
That's quite an active area.
What about down here
in the sitting room as well?
Yeah.
Well, I think downstairs
is probably where
we may encounter John Hughes,
if it's John Hughes, the gentleman.
Mm-hm.
Yeah.
I've got an idea as well.
I'd like to set up some toys
and some triggers
upstairs in that front bedroom,
to see whether or not
little Arthur will come out and play.
OK. I'm gonna get all the cameras
turned to infrared.
Barry to nerve, over.
"Go ahead."
Can we turn all the cameras
to infrared now, please?
"Copy that."
(SOFT BUZZING)
"I want to start off
in the upstairs bedroom,
"where Jay saw what he thinks
was a child spirit in the window."
Guys, I'd like to do
some EVP work in here.
OK.
OK?
I've brought the spirit box up.
OK.
(WHIRRING)
Arthur?
(CRACKLING, FAINT SPEECH)
Are you here with us?
(CRACKLING)
Or the gentleman who lived here
called John.
Are you here?
How old are you, Arthur?
(CHILD'S VOICE)
What?
Somebody said 14.
(CRACKLING)
Are you hungry?
(CRACKLING, FAINT SPEECH)
"Yes, sir."
Yeah.
That just said "Yes, sir".
It did.
(CRACKLING)
Right. I'm just gonna end this.
(SOFT NOTES)
'We've made some contact
'with what we think
is the child spirit, Arthur.
'But I hope some of my
motion-activated toys
'will attract him
once we leave the room.'
Right, all this is in place.
Guys, I've also got the music box
that I'd like to leave in here.
If Arthur comes in
and touches anything on the table,
it could trigger a response,
and we'll hear it.
OK. Yeah.
(CLICK, SOFT MUSIC BOX NOTES)
Come and play, Arthur.
'I now want to try to make contact
'with the older male spirit
we think is John Hughes,
'who used to live here.
'I'm going to be using
a structured light sensor camera,
'which captures anomalies
invisible to the naked eye,
'showing spirits as stick figures,
'and we'll be using a spirit box.
'It randomly sweeps
through radio frequencies,
'scanning quickly,
'allowing spirits to communicate
with us, using the white noise.'
Do you wanna call out?
(BUZZING)
I'm calling out to the gentleman
(BUZZING)
..who lived in this house.
Can you hear my voice, sir?
Can you tell me your name, please?
(BUZZING)
(CHILD'S VOICE, BUZZING)
Here?
Here?
Who's here?
(BUZZING)
Ian.
Yeah?
(BUZZING)
There's a figure stood behind you,
by the wardrobe.
(FAINT SPEECH, BUZZING)
Who's here with us?
(BUZZING, MUFFLED SPEECH)
It's gone.
(TAPPING)
Mr Hughes?
(BUZZING)
Is that "Daddy said it",
or something?
I thought that just said
"Daddy said it".
He's back.
Behind me?
Yeah.
(BUZZING)
Then you turn around
Oh, no. There he is.
He's looking. He's actually
staring straight at both of you.
Are you here?
(FAINT BUZZING)
(FAINT VOICE)
That was a yes.
Where was the figure, Barri, then?
So was it here
Let's redo that.
..and then stayed here?
It was almost as if
..there was a spirit form here
Mm.
..looking directly at both of you.
OK. Did it move out of the room?
Or did it just dissipate?
It kind of dissipated, came back in.
Every time you kind of walk
into the energy field
Mm.
..then it literally dissipates,
then that stick figure disappears.
'Again, we're getting more evidence
'of spirit
without a full connection.
'So we decide to move
to another part of the house.'
So potentially there's activity
that's taking place here,
in this kitchen area.
Ooh.
(SOFTLY) Cold.
Spirit?
Somebody just walked into the room.
Alright. Let's speak to them.
Jayne?
Mm-hm.
What was that?
Whoa.
(FAINT SPEECH)
That was a little
That was behind.
(TENSE TONES)
Can you do that sound again, please?
(BEEP)
Argh!
Oh! Sh
What is it?
The door rattled.
The handle or the door?
The door. That made me jump.
Listen, I'm running the recorder.
Mm.
Let's, let's call out.
Let's use the ITC application
and try and communicate with either
of the spirits that's here.
I'm gonna stand here again.
I promise I won't jump this time.
Jayne, do you wanna call out
on this one?
I would like to speak
..to the gentleman that still lives
here in this house in spirit.
(FAINT CREAK)
What? Was that the door?
Was that the door?
It's the door.
(JAYNE PUFFS)
John Hughes, is that you?
(STACCATO SPEECH)
(BUZZING)
That door's rattled
about three times.
It has, hasn't it?
It made me jump the first time.
Who likes to
(RASPING VOICE)
(JAYNE AND BARRI GASP)
That said "John".
Did you hear it?
I did.
Shall I play that back?
Thank you.
"Who likes to"
WHISPERING VOICE: John.
(WHISPERING) John.
(WHISPERING) John.
It does sound like John.
"Who likes to"
(WHISPERING VOICE)
That says John.
That's John. That's John.
(SOFTLY) John.
I actually think that response
sounds frustrated.
It's almost like,
doesn't want to speak to us,
doesn't want us here,
because he hasn't been talking
much, and now it's like, "Oh, John."
'Frustrated or not,
John has contacted us.'
Why don't we go into
the little lounge?
'And I want to continue this link,
'using an app that allows spirit
communication in full sentences.'
I'm gonna use
the Spirit Talker application
to try and communicate further
with John.
Yeah, OK.
John, do you like it here?
Are you happy?
(SOFT VOICE)
"What happened to me."
Oh, wow.
Is he questioning
what's happened to him?
Yeah.
That almost implies
that he doesn't understand
that he's dead.
Yeah.
'This may explain
John's frustration.'
(TENSE, MELANCHOLY TONES)
Are you aware that you've
..died, John?
(SOFT VOICE)
He's maybe happy, now he knows.
John Hughes, would you like to be
reunited with your family?
Would you like to cross over?
We can help you.
Do you know what I'm wondering?
Has he crossed?
He just needed that explanation.
I know. That's what I'm thinking.
Because the last thing he said,
really, was "Happy".
'It's rare, but informing
the spirit of John Hughes
'that he's passed away
'may have triggered him
crossing over to the light.'
(SOFT VOICE)
(BARRI GASPS)
Doorway!
Oh, my God.
So he has.
Is he crossing?
He's crossed.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh!
IAN AND BARRI: "I'm a child."
Oh!
"I'm a child."
Oh, my God.
That's amazing.
"I'm a child."
SoJohn's crossed.
Yeah.
And now we're speaking to Arthur?
Yeah.
I think?
Arthur, can you hear me?
Please talk to us.
(SOFT VOICE)
"There's a group of us."
Arthur?
Are you with other children?
That could be the reason why
(SOFT VOICE)
Ah.
Ah.
Arthur, do you have anything to say?
Do you love it here?
Do you love this big house?
(SOFT VOICE)
"Beautiful."
I wonder ifhe wants to stay here.
Ah. I said,
"Do you like this big house?"
He's just said, "Beautiful."
Yeah.
And he's
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh.
Oh.
Making
(SOFT THUD)
Did you hear that?
What was that?
What was that?
Was that the door?
Yeah, it was the door.
"We will make a noise,"
and that was a door or something.
Wow.
Let me just check that. Hello?
Thank you, Arthur.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh.
Oh
Oh, my goodness.
Illness.
(SOFT VOICE)
He's cold.
Cold.
Do you know what?
That poor boy would've been
freezing, being in that workhouse.
If he was a pauper
Mm.
..and he slept outside
I feel, I feel like
he wants us to go upstairs.
Well, let's go upstairs then.
Take the scenic way.
Yeah.
I'll keep recording.
I just saw something.
It is actually
very cold in here now.
Arthur, are you here
because you're looking for a family?
(GENTLE TONES)
Hang on a minute. No-one was moving.
(SOFT MUSIC BOX NOTES)
The music box has just gone off.
I know.
(MUSIC BOX NOTES CONTINUE)
Arthur?
Thank you for talking with us.
You don't have to be scared.
You don't have to worry any more.
Would you like to stay here?
And be part of the family?
(GENTLE NOTES)
Arthur is no threat.
He's here because he wants to be
here, 'cause he feels loved here.
Yeah.
And if that poor boy
never had a family to love him
and take care of him
..in life, then maybe in spirit
he can have that.
I think we've got the evidence
that John's crossed over,
because that's
Amazing.
Yeah. It's almost like
he crossed over on his own,
soon as he found out he'd passed.
He saw a doorway.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh, wow.
JAYNE AND IAN: Ah!
'Normally at this point,
we'd help spirits cross over.
'But we think John
may have already done that,
'and that Arthur would like to stay
here in the house.'
This is very unusual
for us, isn't it?
Actually walking away
..this evening,
and leaving a spirit here.
Yeah.
Because they feel a want to stay.
And unfortunately,
we can't make that decision, can we,
until tomorrow?
I don't think it's fair.
Mm.
I think we should give
Jay and Lorna the opportunity
..to, er, have their say.
Yeah.
Yeah?
OK.
And we'll decide
what we'll do tomorrow,
once we've had a chat with them.
Alright.
Well done, guys.
Let's pack up.
Let's review the evidence we've got.
Mm-hm.
Let's present it to both of them
in the morning.
Yeah, OK.
OK.
End recording.
(SOFT, STIRRING NOTES)
BARRI: 'Having reviewed
all the evidence,
'we invite Lorna and Jay
back into their house
'to talk them through
what we found out.'
Morning.
Morning.
Good morning.
Morning there.
Morning.
How did you?
Good, thank you. How are you all?
Good. A bit tired.
Yeah? I bet.
I can imagine.
It was a long and interesting night.
Good.
We're very excited to hear
(LORNA LAUGHS)
..what was found.
Definitely.
JAYNE: Well, after you left us,
we decided to begin
our main investigation upstairs,
in the front bedroom there,
and we'd set up a table,
and some little triggers,
and some toys to hopefully
entice Arthur to come forward.
But you mentioned
during spirit triggers
that we heard a giggle
LORNA: Yes.
..when you were on the landing.
Well, we heard this.
LORNA: "Arthur?
"Can you hear me?"
(SOFT LAUGHTER)
LORNA: Again.
Oh, that shiver again! Yeah!
(THEY LAUGH)
Yeah, that was really clear.
Very similar to yesterday, yeah.
So while we were in there,
we stood asking questions,
calling out for little Arthur
first of all,
and we'll just play for you
a couple of the responses we got.
(CRACKLING)
IAN: "Arthur?
(CRACKLING)
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Arthur?
(CRACKLING)
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
Hm.
So at the end of that, I think
I can hear a child responding,
saying, "I can hear you,"
or, "I can hear ya."
JAYNE: It's like "Hear ya."
Yeah.
Right at the end.
I'll play it again for you.
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Arthur?
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Hear ya," yeah!
"I can hear ya." Yeah.
JAYNE: Yeah.
Do you hear it?
That's clever, yeah.
Now, we moved into
your master bedroom.
We thought this might be
a good opportunity
to try and communicate
further with John.
Yes.
I was using
the structured light sensor camera,
or SLS camera,
to try and pick up a visual
description of the spirit, John.
Yeah.
And I did.
Ooh.
In your bedroom.
Brilliant. Amazing.
I'm gonna play this for you.
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Who's here?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
Oh yeah!
(LORNA LAUGHS)
"There's a figure stood behind you,
by the wardrobe."
"And I said I were cold."
"Yeah."
LORNA: Wow.
(CRACKLING)
"Who's here with us?"
Cor!
I do think that this was John
Yeah.
..we were communicating with.
You look quite emotional, Jay.
I am.
What do you think
is making you emotional now?
Part of me thinks
that they want help.
Yeah.
Maybe moving on.
Mm-hm.
Another part of me thinks that
..something wants to stay.
Mm.
They enjoy our presence here.
Right, OK.
Um,
and if I'm being honest,
I'm enjoying their presence.
(LORNA LAUGHS)
That's nice. That's lovely.
So we moved next door,
into your kitchen.
We went in there, and we were using
an application called necrophonics,
and we were actually
calling out again for John,
and we'll play this for you.
LORNA: OK.
"Who likes to"
(WHISPER)
JAYNE: "That said John!"
LORNA: John. John.
(THEY LAUGH)
Jayne was really excited.
LORNA: Yeah. Really clearly.
Absolutely did.
John.
Yeah. But we also heard a child's
voice come through as well
LORNA: Yeah.
..and I wanna play this for you.
"John"
(ECHOED SPEECH)
"That was a little child."
"It was."
"What did it say?"
"Did it say help?"
"Mm-hm."
"John"
(CHILD'S VOICE)
"Help." God, I had a shiver again.
Did you?
"Help," yeah.
Mm-hm.
"Help." Please help. Yeah.
JAYNE: So we actually moved on
from your kitchen,
into your second lounge,
your toy room here at the front.
LORNA: Yeah.
We were using this time an
application called Spirit Talker.
Now, Spirit Talker can actually
bring up full sentences,
which is really exciting for us,
because usually they are
completely relevant and make sense.
LORNA: Yeah.
And it didn't let us down.
LORNA: Ooh!
"John, do you like it here?
"Are you happy?"
(SOFT VOICE)
"What happened?"
I've just had another shiver.
Yeah.
That was from my head again.
So, to explain that
Yeah.
..we felt that John
didn't know he'd passed over.
Yeah, OK.
And as we, as we talked collectively
about that possible scenario,
John was listening.
Then we got these two more responses.
(FAINT STATIC BUZZ, SOFT VOICE)
"He's maybe happy now he knows."
LORNA: Ah.
He's aware.
Yeah.
Yeah, we explained to him
that he'd passed over.
Yeah.
And he was just letting us know
he was happy we'd told him,
we'd shared it with him.
Oh, great.
Not confused any more. Mm.
Yeah. Yeah.
And then we received this response.
"He just needed to know"
(SOFT VOICE)
"Doorway!"
Ooh!
"So he has."
Wow.
So I think what happened here,
because we was talking and
explaining to John what happened,
and he was just letting us know
"Doorway."
..he's gone through the doorway.
Amazing. Wow.
I'm definitely, er,
I've definitely been turned here.
There's things I can't explain.
(LORNA GIGGLES)
If I can't explain it, then
Well, yeah.
The audio is there.
Mm-hm.
It's clear to hear.
The proof is there, to me.
As soon as John departed
LORNA: Oh, wow.
..our company
Yeah.
..the responses came through
from Arthur.
Oh. Yeah.
(SOFT VOICE)
"I'm a child."
"Oh, my God."
"That's amazing."
"I'm a child."
We began talking about your house,
and why he was here,
and there were these two responses.
"Arthur?
"Are you with other children?
"That could be the reason why"
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh!
(LORNA LAUGHS)
"Adventure."
Yeah.
"Do you love it here?
"Do you love this big house?"
"We know that the workhouse
was close"
(SOFT VOICE)
LORNA: Ah!
(JAYNE LAUGHS)
So
(LORNA LAUGHS)
..so he thinks your house
is beautiful.
Oh, bless him.
I feel that Arthur
had a strong connection here.
And normally we would
send spirits to the light,
'cause it's very important, we have
to think about their well-being,
and where they want to be
Yeah.
..and be put at rest.
But it would be verynice
LORNA: Mm.
..if you would join us
Ah. Yes.
..today doing that.
Oh, wonderful.
To send him to the light.
Yeah.
And maybe we can send
his little friends through
Yeah.
..as well.
So would you like
to do that with us?
Absolutely.
Yeah, definitely.
OK, we'll set up for that now.
Great.
Alright.
Jayne, would you like to light
the candle for me, please?
(SCRAPE, FLAME RUSTLES)
(SOFT, STIRRING NOTES)
We pray, Father, for your love.
We ask for the doorway that
separates the two worlds to be open.
Arthur.
Thank you so much
for talking to us.
But it's now time to leave.
It's now time to find a family
that you've been looking for.
You need to walk into that light.
Keep walking into that light.
JAYNE: What's the matter?
He won't go.
What?
He won't go.
Arthur?
Arthur?
You need to do this for me.
Ah.
He wants to stay.
Does he need to know you'd be OK
if he went
You can tell him
..to his real family?
..he can stay.
What does he want to do?
If he wants to stay, he can stay.
He wants to stay with your family.
As long as there's no harm to him,
he can stay.
There's no harm.
He's had that option to go.
He's got free will.
You tell,
you tell Arthur he can stay.
Arthur.
You can stay.
You can play.
(LORNA LAUGHS)
You're more than welcome.
God bless you, Arthur.
Amen.
ALL: Amen.
Amen.
JAYNE: That's really upset me.
Yeah.
LORNA: Aw!
JAYNE:
I think you've done the right thing.
I've never experienced that.
No.
They always go through
Yeah.
..into the light.
He went into the door.
He looked back and came back.
Ah.
He wanted to stay.
Bless him.
I'm choked up.
Yeah.
LORNA: Yeah.
Would you like to do that, Jayne?
Blow the candle.
We're all in tears here
Mm.
..and, er, it's just really a credit
to somebody from a spirit world
wanting to stay.
To stay, yeah.
Er, tells you
that you're amazing parents.
(THEY LAUGH)
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for having us.
No, thank you.
Yeah, thanks for everything.
LORNA: Aw.
That was an emotional case.
Yeah, what a little twist, though,
with Arthur.
Mm.
Really upset me, that did.
Yeah, I know.
(STIRRING NOTES)
NARRATOR:
This has been a fascinating,
and sometimes
emotional investigation.
But who knows
what the next case will bring?
(DRAMATIC NOTES)
Captioned by AI-Media
ai-media.tv
I want you to go!
Help me. Help me, please.
NARRATOR: Across the UK
Whoa!
I heard that.
Did you hear that?
Oh, my God!
..terrified homeowners are being
plagued by the paranormal.
(WHISPERING, BARRI GASPS)
I can see you!
I am scared to death.
I need to know, am I safe?
Thankfully, there are three people
(KNOCKING)
BARRI: What was that?
Where did that come from?
I've got goosebumps.
(STACCATO VOICE)
No, I'm not gonna get out.
Oh, my God! Ian, don't leave me.
NARRATOR:
..who will stop at nothing
(BARRI GASPS)
Someone's behind me.
Who's here with us?
(BARRI SCREAMS)
What the hell was that?
NARRATOR: ..to return our homes
Can you just take the emotion
away from Jayne, please?
BARRI: Two spirit forms.
Barri, you're scaring me.
Right next to you.
..back to the land of the living.
(BARRI SCREAMS)
Stand right behind you!
This is like a horror movie,
isn't it?
(SCREAMING, FLICKERING, RUMBLING)
(TENSE, HIGH-PITCHED TONES)
(BIRDS CHIRP)
Guys, I feel there's gonna be some
form of twist to this investigation.
You can feel the energy changing,
crossing this bridge,
you know, guys.
I wonder if this water's
chargingthe island.
Mm.
But we're entering the unknown.
I've never been here before.
Have you?
BARRI AND JAYNE: No.
No, neither have I.
(CREAKING)
NARRATOR: In this investigation
(IAN YELPS)
Oh! Sh
..a family home
The house just feels so haunted.
It's really weird.
It, it gives you a chill.
..full of mysterious voices
(GASPING)
I thought I heard one of my boys
calling my name. "Daddy, Daddy."
Go out there. There's no-one there.
..plagued by lost souls
(GIGGLING)
There was a little paupers' cemetery
for when peopled died
in the workhouse.
They were buried
somewhere in the area.
..who don't want to leave.
I've never experienced that before.
He went into the door.
He looked back and came back.
Aw!
(RUSTLING, FAINT SPEECH,
TINGLING NOTES)
(TENSE NOTES)
I'm feeling really
charged for this one, guys.
I feel quite excited.
Mm.
Yeah, I feel a bitexcited, too.
"Energetic" is probably the best
JAYNE AND IAN: Yeah.
Yeah, I think so,
and given the little bits
we know, Barri
Mm.
..there's gonna be interesting
..history and experiences
that we need to look into.
I can't wait.
NARRATOR: While Barri and Jayne
have studied case notes,
medium Ian refuses to learn anything
about investigations in advance,
to be sure it's only
his psychic guide
that's informing him.
I know we're still
a few minutes away, Ian.
But are you getting any sense
of who, or what we might be
dealing with at this property?
I do see a little boy
with a flat cap.
Is he communicating with you?
No. I can see him.
He looks quite confused and lost,
and, andI'm just looking around
to see what he's looking at,
but he just seems very
..sad, really. Very
..confused.
The team have been called in
to investigate this four-bedroom
Edwardian house
(CREEPY TONES)
..which is home to Lorna,
her husband Jay,
and their five children.
(CREEPY TONES, RUSTLING)
It's known locally
as the haunted house.
(GASPING)
It's great at Halloween,
'cause the local children
and teenagers
seem quite scared
to come up to the front door.
There are times when we do feel
that maybe we are being watched,
or when there's a noise
and you can't explain
(WHISPERS)
..where it's come from.
The first real thing that came out
was when one of our children
kept waking up at about 4:00
in the morning,
and coming in to us, and saying
that his brother had woken him.
His brother was asleep,
so we asked more about that,
and he said, "No, no, no.
The ghost brother."
And that was it, really.
We, erm, we started to realise
that maybe there was more going on.
(WHISPERED SPEECH)
My husband Jay
was in the bathroom one day.
He heard a noise outside,
and a voice that said, erm, "Dad,"
and he went to check what that was,
and none of the children
were anywhere near the bathroom.
Our eldest daughter
actually saw a white shape,
which kinda looked a bit misty,
and a bit of shadow with it,
move straight across the hallway,
and couldn't explain that at all,
and she was looking straight at it.
(DOOR CREAKS)
I feel there is something strange
happening in the house.
I'd like to see and know
exactly what it is.
Something that would
just prove beyond doubt
that there is something here,
and to find out what they want.
My husband Jay
is a bit of a sceptic.
He has seen and heard things.
Er, but he still questions it,
and it would be really interesting
if Jay was to change his mind
on the things that he was seeing
and experiencing.
That would be a really good outcome.
(HIGH-PITCHED, MUFFLED TONE)
BARRI: Here we are, guys.
Oh, wow.
It's this beautiful property,
just here.
Amazing.
Do you feel like the house
was watching us then?
Yeah.
Watching us arrive?
It's really creepy.
Honestly.
I was waiting for somebody
to look out of this window.
It looks like a haunted house.
I know.
Well
..it may be a haunted house.
NARRATOR:
While Jayne and Barri head off
to find out more about the case
See you later.
BARRI: Good luck.
NARRATOR:
..Ian will try to make contact
with any spirits that may be inside.
Hello?
Hello?
(SOFT NOTES)
(IAN PUFFS)
(SOFT NOTES)
It's really funny,
'cause I was drawn
..to a little boy
on the journey here,
and as soon as you enter this house,
I just feel
I think it's a kid thing,
but I do feel he would play
around the staircase.
So I am gonna go upstairs.
Hello?
Hello?
I can hear whispering already.
The house just feels so haunted.
It's really weird.
It, it gives you a chill.
(ECHOED THUD, TENSE TONES)
JAYNE:
I've come to the local churchyard
to meet up with historian
Warren Kovach,
to find out more about the house
and the area around it.
What can you tell me
about this beautiful place?
Well, we're in the middle
of the village of Llannerch-y-medd.
It's a fairly ancient village.
It might be seen as a bit of a
sleepy little village at the moment,
but it was the main market town
on Anglesey.
Another thing that's interesting
about the area
is that just up the road,
there's a large old building
that used to be the workhouse
for most of Anglesey,
and this was one that was built
in 1868 as the main workhouse
for all of Anglesey, really.
But when you look at the censuses
for the times during that,
there were seven or eight children
who were obviously orphans,
because they all had
different surnames,
and there were no parents
with the same surnames there.
And apparently there was
a little paupers' cemetery
for when people died
in the workhouse.
They were buried
somewhere in the area.
(RATTLING, RUMBLING)
IAN: This room take my breath.
It gives me a very nervy feeling
in my stomach.
I can feel my
almost like my tummy twisting.
(FAINT ECHOED TONE)
Now I'm feeling
..excited, and I'm feeling scared
at the same time,
so this little boy
that I'm linking with
..is giving me mixed emotions.
I wonder if
..he's come from a place,
or travelled from a place,
and he's looking for a family,
or he's looking for his father.
Because he seems very sad.
(SMASH, ECHOED WAILING)
Well, obviously, Warren, we're here
because the family
are experiencing some unusual
Right, yeah. Mm-hm.
..activity in that house.
So what do you know about it?
The house? Well, it is relatively
new, compared to around here.
The house was built,
probably around 1906, 1907.
That's when it first shows up
in the records.
The first occupants are John Hughes,
and his mother, and sister.
It was just three of them there,
because both John and his sister
were single and never married,
and their elderly mother
was widowed.
And they lived there
until John died in 1926,
and then after
that the Elias family came,
and they only had one child there,
all the way up to 1981,
when Elias died.
So it feels to me
that it's a lovely big home
that hasn't really
fulfilled its potential.
You know, you imagine
loads of children running round,
especially then
Yeah
..when families were large.
You would imagine, yeah.
(WARREN STAMMERS)
It's a lovely old house, but it was
just never really full of children!
I feel quite sad.
I feel really, really sad,
really emotional in this room.
I feel
Did you hear
that little boy's voice?
Did you not hear that?
No.
That was a little cry,
or a little hum, or something,
coming from
..that corner of the bedroom. I
I feel uncomfortable,
like I shouldn't be in here,
and I don't know
why I feel like that.
But there was just a little cry,
or a little murmur
from this side of the bed here.
Hello?
Who's trying to reach out?
What's your name?
Heard a kid.
Whereabouts?
Crying somewhere here.
Near, right by us.
Well, that's where I could hear it,
but I thought it was in this corner.
I couldn't describe the sound.
Could you?
No.
It's almost like he's
Whoa.
What the fuck was that?
That was, that was in that corner.
(DOOR SHUTS)
The door just shut.
Door just shut.
There's no windows open, is there?
No.
(SHUFFLING)
There's no draught.
Did you, did you hear
that kind of mumbly noise here?
Yeah.
I'm wondering
if it shot past you, then.
Hello?
(DOOR LATCH CLICKS)
Where was that?
It was in this area, I think.
There's an energy of a man here
..and I think that potentially could
be what this boy's looking for.
Hello?
(RUMBLING)
BARRI:
'I'm meeting Lorna's husband, Jay,
'to get his take
on what's been going on.'
Jay, thank you so much
for meeting with me.
We are literally in a park,
looking at your house.
Yes.
It's a beautiful house.
It certainly is.
But there's something strange
going on in there, isn't there?
There is. And, er,
the reason why you're here
iswe have someongoings
that I can't explain.
So you're a bit of a sceptic.
I certainly am, yes.
Just explain to me
what you've experienced directly.
I've seen lots of shadows.
(ECHOED TAPPING)
I witnessed, er
(ECHOED TAPPING)
..what I thought was one of my kids
in a window upstairs
while I was outside.
Wow.
It was a silhouette.
Um, but there was no-one there.
Incredible.
OK, and how do you know
it wasn't one of your kids?
Er, they were all downstairs.
Um, there was no-one up there,
and the door was locked.
(CRACKLING, GASPING)
IAN: What?
(SOFT FOOTSTEPS)
Where's that coming from?
That was a child's voice.
That was a child's voice.
And it was a little boy's voice.
Hello?
Can you hear me?
(WHISPERS) What?
That Yeah.
Was that a cough?
That was, that was
I wonder if that's an indication
of how he passed.
I wonder if he's giving me
a chestcondition.
Yeah. Could be.
You have experienced things,
and seen this boy's apparition.
But what about other phenomena
taking place in the house?
Going from the bathroom
to outside, into the corridor,
er, I thought I heard one of my boys
calling my name. "Daddy, Daddy."
Go out there, there's no-one there.
Have you come face to face
with a ghost in your house?
No.
I don't think so.
The closestI would say,
a white shadow moving from the
toy room into the sitting room.
That was out of
the corner of my eye.
And how big was this shadow?
Er, I'd say probably
..about five years old,
but sort of mid-flight,
moving across the hall.
I can't believe
you're still a sceptic
after seeing almost
a full-bodied apparition.
I mean, what would it take for you,
Jay, to become a believer?
Um, I like evidence that I can see.
I have seen some stuff
that I can't debunk myself,
and part of the reason
why you're here
is to, you know,
prove something to me.
Prove to me
there is something after life.
Make you a believer.
Yeah, why not?
That's interesting.
There's an awful lot of toys
in here,
and I think that would attract
this little boy.
So it wouldn't surprise me
(FOOTSTEPS, TENSE TONES)
..if he hangs around in here
quite a lot.
Because I can feel his energy here.
But there's just this man,
and I feel
..my arm is, is
giving me a lot of pain.
I do feel
..there would've been
some deathin this house.
I don't think this case
is straightforward.
So maybe the family
think it's quite nice.
But things can always escalate.
So I'm pleased they've called us in
when they have.
(TENSE, DRAMATIC NOTES)
JAYNE: 'I've come to the house,
'along with Barri, Lorna and Jay,
'to meet up with Ian and carry out
our spirit trigger session.'
Ian?
Hiya.
Hiya.
You OK?
Yeah.
Hi, mate. How are you?
Yeah, good.
Hi, I'm Ian. Lovely to meet you.
Lorna, nice to meet you.
(CROSSTALK)
I'm kinda confused.
Um, on the way here, can you
remember I picked up on a child?
BARRI AND JAYNE: Yeah.
I'm not convinced
the boy lived in this house,
for some reason,
but I do feel
he's walking around the house.
Why don't we start
doing some EVP work here?
OK.
OK.
If this little boy's spirit
is aware of us now,
he might communicate with you guys.
So, Lorna, do you wanna call out
on this one?
LORNA: Yeah.
See whether we get a response, yeah?
Yeah. Hello, are you here?
Can you tell us your name?
How old are you?
(CREEPY NOTES)
And did you live here?
Are you missing anybody?
Do you like to try and play
with our children?
End recording.
Do you hear something here?
JAYNE AND LORNA: Mmm.
JAYNE: Yeah, but I couldn't tell
what it was.
I could hear somebody saying,
they said it like this,
"It's Arthur."
Really?
LORNA: I felt a shiver again.
Did you?
Down this side.
Right, OK. Arthur.
That, that is a little bit solemnly.
Mm-hm.
IAN AND LORNA: Arthur.
I've gone the hot down one side.
Hot?
Yeah, down this side.
I keep getting shivers!
JAYNE: Right.
OK, well, he is in that direction,
so he's obviously charging you,
which is great.
Let's, let's calm.
(LORNA GIGGLES)
Let's play this back
JAYNE: Yeah.
..see what we've got.
LORNA: "Hello. Are you here?
"Can you tell us your name?
"We've heard you before
"..and we'd like to know
a little bit more about you."
(SHUFFLING, STEPS)
"How old are you?
"And did you live here?
"Are you missing anybody?"
Who's walking around?
LORNA: Walking around.
JAYNE: There's footsteps.
Didn't you take a footstep back?
I went like that
(CROSSTALK)
That was a definite one-two.
Clear footsteps, yeah.
That was more
"Did you live
"..old are you? ..more about you."
(SHUFFLING, STEPS)
"How old are"
That's not me. I went like that.
That was really clear.
Three, three footsteps.
Yeah.
Have you ever heard footsteps here?
Yeah, loads.
Yes.
That was heavy footsteps.
It was heavy. Yeah.
Interesting.
We've heard heavy footsteps,
and lighter.
JAYNE: I think it seems like
the little boy
maybe came in the way
that he normally came in,
and possibly went up the stairs,
'cause then we all heard
LORNA: The knock upstairs.
Shall we make our way upstairs?
Yeah.
BARRI: We've definitely connected
with the child spirit
Ian thinks is called Arthur.
And I'm hoping to communicate
more with him upstairs.
Ian, do you wanna call out?
I'm calling out to a little boy.
Or Arthur.
Are you here?
Are you with us?
(BEEPS)
FAINT VOICE: Am.
(MUMBLED SPEECH)
Who was doing that?
LORNA: I just heard that.
JAYNE:
'The app I'm using made a noise.
'But at the same time, we all heard
laughing from downstairs.'
Was that anybody down there?
No.
That was laughing.
(BEEP)
That sounded like the landing
(CROSSTALK)
LORNA: Shadow.
Shadow?
JAYNE: Yeah.
Did you say you saw,
like a silhouette?
Like a shadow in the window?
That's what I've seen previously.
LORNA: Our eldest
has seen a shadow
Yeah.
What did you hear?
What did you just hear?
LORNA: Laughing.
JAYNE: Yeah, it was laughing.
OK. That was definitely this area.
That was really clear.
I'm getting shivers again.
(IAN LAUGHS)
Just down this side.
OK.
Yeah.
(SOFT THUDS, CREAK)
Did you just speak?
I heard a voice.
JAYNE: No.
So did I.
Mm.
I thought it were Jayne.
I thought she looked in there
and said something.
That's what I thought.
I just had a rush of wind
pass me on this side.
(BEEP)
JAYNE:
"I've been using an Alice device,
"an instrumental,
trans-communication word bank
"that spirits can use
to talk to us."
SOFT VOICE: Walk.
Walk.
Walk.
LORNA: Oh!
And Jay's just
LORNA: Yeah, rush past.
JAYNE: You had a rush past you,
and now the Alice device
has said "Walk".
Let's play this whole file back,
because there was laughter
that was heard as well.
(STATIC BUZZING, SOFT BEEP, SCRAPE)
What was that?
LORNA: Mm.
Heard a little giggle.
Yeah.
(BEEP, GIGGLE)
LORNA AND JAY: Yes.
I heard that.
Yes. That's what we heard.
Did you hear that?
Yeah.
That's so clear, isn't it?
LORNA: It's so clear.
"Do you want to play?"
(STATIC BUZZ)
What were that?
(RUSTLING)
(FAINT WHISPERING)
That is a child. That's
a whispered child's voice, 100%.
Listen.
(STATIC BUZZING, WHISPERING)
"Hear my" what?
Play it again.
(STATIC BUZZING, WHISPER)
JAYNE: "Hear my"
LORNA: Hear my, that's really clear.
"Hear my"
Breath.
I thought it were "breath".
That is a breathy response.
IAN AND JAYNE: "Hear my breath."
Jay, do you wanna carry on?
Yeah, sure.
Do you like playing with our son?
What do you like to play?
Here.
You're hearing something there?
It was like a huff.
I felt it.
It didn't feel directly behind me,
but I felt it on my neck.
(WHISPERS) Do you wanna go there?
Ask, ask his name.
What's your name?
(GASP)
Did you hear that?
JAYNE: Yeah.
LORNA: Mm.
Yes. I heard that.
Is your name Arthur?
(FAINT TONE)
I heard that.
I heard a "Yes".
Really high-pitched.
JAYNE: Do you think
LORNA: It sounded up here.
JAYNE: Yeah.
LORNA: Like high. Not there.
It was (HIGH-PITCHED) "Yes!"
End recording.
'I think there was something
on the landing,
'and once we've settled
in the lounge,
'I want to play back my recording.'
BARRI: "Is your name Arthur?"
(MELANCHOLY TONES, FAINT SPEECH)
LORNA: "I heard that.
I heard a yes."
(FAINT SPEECH)
"Is your name Arthur?"
(BREATHY SPEECH)
Arthur.
Yes!
LORNA: Yeah.
Sounds very breathy.
It is, it is two breaths.
Arthur.
JAYNE: Yes, it is.
LORNA: That's really clear.
Jay, did you hear that as well?
I did, yes.
Yeah, to me
You can hear "Arthur"?
Yeah.
Ian, did you pick up
on a male energy as well
on your walk round?
I did.
Well, the most prominent male
to have lived here, really,
was John Hughes. The Hughes family.
LORNA: Yeah.
JAYNE: He didn't have any children.
LORNA: Yeah.
Right.
But he lived here
with his mum and his sister.
Um, I'd like to use
this ghost box device,
which will sweep through
white noise and radio,
in order to try and elicit a response
from either Arthur
LORNA: Mm.
..or this
John.
..adult male spirit
that you've picked up on.
Do you guys wanna call out
and ask questions?
But listen to the responses.
(STATIC BUZZ)
Mr Hughes?
(BUZZ CONTINUES)
It would be really good
if you could talk to us now
(FAINT BUZZ)
..and come in the room.
Come and stand with us.
'Unlike upstairs on the landing,
'we're not getting
any communication with spirit here.'
It's gone flat.
It's really weird. It's just
(BUZZ)
OK.
End recording.
Um
Mm.
Now, that's interesting,
because you normally expect to get
..spirit responses, and almost
a kind of battle to communicate,
if there are multiple energies
in the house.
Little Arthur
could've been in here playing,
and then as we came in
LORNA: Mm.
..and maybe John Hughes came in
to see who we all were,
it scared him away.
So in spirit,
Arthur may well have
been really drawn here now,
'cause you've got kids in the house.
LORNA AND IAN: Yeah.
It's filled in the way
it always should've been, really.
Yes.
So you guys have been amazing.
You've given us a great start
to the investigation,
but we need to crack on. Thank you.
Thank you. Good luck.
LORNA: Thank you. Thank you.
See you in the morning.
LORNA: See you tomorrow.
(EERIE NOTES)
BARRI: As darkness falls
(OWL HOOTS)
..Lorna and Jay
leave us for the night.
(DOOR HANDLE SQUEAKS, DRAMATIC NOTES)
To capture any unusual activity
during the investigation,
I've placed cameras
throughout the house.
They will be constantly monitored
here in our nerve centre.
What an amazing spirit triggers.
That was so active.
Yeah.
And I'm hyped tonight.
I can hear everything.
Listen, I've got the crew setting up
the remaining cameras in this house.
It is quite large, but I'd like
to concentrate our efforts
upstairs in the spare front bedroom,
and also the landing and stairs.
That's quite an active area.
What about down here
in the sitting room as well?
Yeah.
Well, I think downstairs
is probably where
we may encounter John Hughes,
if it's John Hughes, the gentleman.
Mm-hm.
Yeah.
I've got an idea as well.
I'd like to set up some toys
and some triggers
upstairs in that front bedroom,
to see whether or not
little Arthur will come out and play.
OK. I'm gonna get all the cameras
turned to infrared.
Barry to nerve, over.
"Go ahead."
Can we turn all the cameras
to infrared now, please?
"Copy that."
(SOFT BUZZING)
"I want to start off
in the upstairs bedroom,
"where Jay saw what he thinks
was a child spirit in the window."
Guys, I'd like to do
some EVP work in here.
OK.
OK?
I've brought the spirit box up.
OK.
(WHIRRING)
Arthur?
(CRACKLING, FAINT SPEECH)
Are you here with us?
(CRACKLING)
Or the gentleman who lived here
called John.
Are you here?
How old are you, Arthur?
(CHILD'S VOICE)
What?
Somebody said 14.
(CRACKLING)
Are you hungry?
(CRACKLING, FAINT SPEECH)
"Yes, sir."
Yeah.
That just said "Yes, sir".
It did.
(CRACKLING)
Right. I'm just gonna end this.
(SOFT NOTES)
'We've made some contact
'with what we think
is the child spirit, Arthur.
'But I hope some of my
motion-activated toys
'will attract him
once we leave the room.'
Right, all this is in place.
Guys, I've also got the music box
that I'd like to leave in here.
If Arthur comes in
and touches anything on the table,
it could trigger a response,
and we'll hear it.
OK. Yeah.
(CLICK, SOFT MUSIC BOX NOTES)
Come and play, Arthur.
'I now want to try to make contact
'with the older male spirit
we think is John Hughes,
'who used to live here.
'I'm going to be using
a structured light sensor camera,
'which captures anomalies
invisible to the naked eye,
'showing spirits as stick figures,
'and we'll be using a spirit box.
'It randomly sweeps
through radio frequencies,
'scanning quickly,
'allowing spirits to communicate
with us, using the white noise.'
Do you wanna call out?
(BUZZING)
I'm calling out to the gentleman
(BUZZING)
..who lived in this house.
Can you hear my voice, sir?
Can you tell me your name, please?
(BUZZING)
(CHILD'S VOICE, BUZZING)
Here?
Here?
Who's here?
(BUZZING)
Ian.
Yeah?
(BUZZING)
There's a figure stood behind you,
by the wardrobe.
(FAINT SPEECH, BUZZING)
Who's here with us?
(BUZZING, MUFFLED SPEECH)
It's gone.
(TAPPING)
Mr Hughes?
(BUZZING)
Is that "Daddy said it",
or something?
I thought that just said
"Daddy said it".
He's back.
Behind me?
Yeah.
(BUZZING)
Then you turn around
Oh, no. There he is.
He's looking. He's actually
staring straight at both of you.
Are you here?
(FAINT BUZZING)
(FAINT VOICE)
That was a yes.
Where was the figure, Barri, then?
So was it here
Let's redo that.
..and then stayed here?
It was almost as if
..there was a spirit form here
Mm.
..looking directly at both of you.
OK. Did it move out of the room?
Or did it just dissipate?
It kind of dissipated, came back in.
Every time you kind of walk
into the energy field
Mm.
..then it literally dissipates,
then that stick figure disappears.
'Again, we're getting more evidence
'of spirit
without a full connection.
'So we decide to move
to another part of the house.'
So potentially there's activity
that's taking place here,
in this kitchen area.
Ooh.
(SOFTLY) Cold.
Spirit?
Somebody just walked into the room.
Alright. Let's speak to them.
Jayne?
Mm-hm.
What was that?
Whoa.
(FAINT SPEECH)
That was a little
That was behind.
(TENSE TONES)
Can you do that sound again, please?
(BEEP)
Argh!
Oh! Sh
What is it?
The door rattled.
The handle or the door?
The door. That made me jump.
Listen, I'm running the recorder.
Mm.
Let's, let's call out.
Let's use the ITC application
and try and communicate with either
of the spirits that's here.
I'm gonna stand here again.
I promise I won't jump this time.
Jayne, do you wanna call out
on this one?
I would like to speak
..to the gentleman that still lives
here in this house in spirit.
(FAINT CREAK)
What? Was that the door?
Was that the door?
It's the door.
(JAYNE PUFFS)
John Hughes, is that you?
(STACCATO SPEECH)
(BUZZING)
That door's rattled
about three times.
It has, hasn't it?
It made me jump the first time.
Who likes to
(RASPING VOICE)
(JAYNE AND BARRI GASP)
That said "John".
Did you hear it?
I did.
Shall I play that back?
Thank you.
"Who likes to"
WHISPERING VOICE: John.
(WHISPERING) John.
(WHISPERING) John.
It does sound like John.
"Who likes to"
(WHISPERING VOICE)
That says John.
That's John. That's John.
(SOFTLY) John.
I actually think that response
sounds frustrated.
It's almost like,
doesn't want to speak to us,
doesn't want us here,
because he hasn't been talking
much, and now it's like, "Oh, John."
'Frustrated or not,
John has contacted us.'
Why don't we go into
the little lounge?
'And I want to continue this link,
'using an app that allows spirit
communication in full sentences.'
I'm gonna use
the Spirit Talker application
to try and communicate further
with John.
Yeah, OK.
John, do you like it here?
Are you happy?
(SOFT VOICE)
"What happened to me."
Oh, wow.
Is he questioning
what's happened to him?
Yeah.
That almost implies
that he doesn't understand
that he's dead.
Yeah.
'This may explain
John's frustration.'
(TENSE, MELANCHOLY TONES)
Are you aware that you've
..died, John?
(SOFT VOICE)
He's maybe happy, now he knows.
John Hughes, would you like to be
reunited with your family?
Would you like to cross over?
We can help you.
Do you know what I'm wondering?
Has he crossed?
He just needed that explanation.
I know. That's what I'm thinking.
Because the last thing he said,
really, was "Happy".
'It's rare, but informing
the spirit of John Hughes
'that he's passed away
'may have triggered him
crossing over to the light.'
(SOFT VOICE)
(BARRI GASPS)
Doorway!
Oh, my God.
So he has.
Is he crossing?
He's crossed.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh!
IAN AND BARRI: "I'm a child."
Oh!
"I'm a child."
Oh, my God.
That's amazing.
"I'm a child."
SoJohn's crossed.
Yeah.
And now we're speaking to Arthur?
Yeah.
I think?
Arthur, can you hear me?
Please talk to us.
(SOFT VOICE)
"There's a group of us."
Arthur?
Are you with other children?
That could be the reason why
(SOFT VOICE)
Ah.
Ah.
Arthur, do you have anything to say?
Do you love it here?
Do you love this big house?
(SOFT VOICE)
"Beautiful."
I wonder ifhe wants to stay here.
Ah. I said,
"Do you like this big house?"
He's just said, "Beautiful."
Yeah.
And he's
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh.
Oh.
Making
(SOFT THUD)
Did you hear that?
What was that?
What was that?
Was that the door?
Yeah, it was the door.
"We will make a noise,"
and that was a door or something.
Wow.
Let me just check that. Hello?
Thank you, Arthur.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh.
Oh
Oh, my goodness.
Illness.
(SOFT VOICE)
He's cold.
Cold.
Do you know what?
That poor boy would've been
freezing, being in that workhouse.
If he was a pauper
Mm.
..and he slept outside
I feel, I feel like
he wants us to go upstairs.
Well, let's go upstairs then.
Take the scenic way.
Yeah.
I'll keep recording.
I just saw something.
It is actually
very cold in here now.
Arthur, are you here
because you're looking for a family?
(GENTLE TONES)
Hang on a minute. No-one was moving.
(SOFT MUSIC BOX NOTES)
The music box has just gone off.
I know.
(MUSIC BOX NOTES CONTINUE)
Arthur?
Thank you for talking with us.
You don't have to be scared.
You don't have to worry any more.
Would you like to stay here?
And be part of the family?
(GENTLE NOTES)
Arthur is no threat.
He's here because he wants to be
here, 'cause he feels loved here.
Yeah.
And if that poor boy
never had a family to love him
and take care of him
..in life, then maybe in spirit
he can have that.
I think we've got the evidence
that John's crossed over,
because that's
Amazing.
Yeah. It's almost like
he crossed over on his own,
soon as he found out he'd passed.
He saw a doorway.
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh, wow.
JAYNE AND IAN: Ah!
'Normally at this point,
we'd help spirits cross over.
'But we think John
may have already done that,
'and that Arthur would like to stay
here in the house.'
This is very unusual
for us, isn't it?
Actually walking away
..this evening,
and leaving a spirit here.
Yeah.
Because they feel a want to stay.
And unfortunately,
we can't make that decision, can we,
until tomorrow?
I don't think it's fair.
Mm.
I think we should give
Jay and Lorna the opportunity
..to, er, have their say.
Yeah.
Yeah?
OK.
And we'll decide
what we'll do tomorrow,
once we've had a chat with them.
Alright.
Well done, guys.
Let's pack up.
Let's review the evidence we've got.
Mm-hm.
Let's present it to both of them
in the morning.
Yeah, OK.
OK.
End recording.
(SOFT, STIRRING NOTES)
BARRI: 'Having reviewed
all the evidence,
'we invite Lorna and Jay
back into their house
'to talk them through
what we found out.'
Morning.
Morning.
Good morning.
Morning there.
Morning.
How did you?
Good, thank you. How are you all?
Good. A bit tired.
Yeah? I bet.
I can imagine.
It was a long and interesting night.
Good.
We're very excited to hear
(LORNA LAUGHS)
..what was found.
Definitely.
JAYNE: Well, after you left us,
we decided to begin
our main investigation upstairs,
in the front bedroom there,
and we'd set up a table,
and some little triggers,
and some toys to hopefully
entice Arthur to come forward.
But you mentioned
during spirit triggers
that we heard a giggle
LORNA: Yes.
..when you were on the landing.
Well, we heard this.
LORNA: "Arthur?
"Can you hear me?"
(SOFT LAUGHTER)
LORNA: Again.
Oh, that shiver again! Yeah!
(THEY LAUGH)
Yeah, that was really clear.
Very similar to yesterday, yeah.
So while we were in there,
we stood asking questions,
calling out for little Arthur
first of all,
and we'll just play for you
a couple of the responses we got.
(CRACKLING)
IAN: "Arthur?
(CRACKLING)
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Arthur?
(CRACKLING)
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
Hm.
So at the end of that, I think
I can hear a child responding,
saying, "I can hear you,"
or, "I can hear ya."
JAYNE: It's like "Hear ya."
Yeah.
Right at the end.
I'll play it again for you.
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Arthur?
"Can you hear me?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Hear ya," yeah!
"I can hear ya." Yeah.
JAYNE: Yeah.
Do you hear it?
That's clever, yeah.
Now, we moved into
your master bedroom.
We thought this might be
a good opportunity
to try and communicate
further with John.
Yes.
I was using
the structured light sensor camera,
or SLS camera,
to try and pick up a visual
description of the spirit, John.
Yeah.
And I did.
Ooh.
In your bedroom.
Brilliant. Amazing.
I'm gonna play this for you.
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
"Who's here?"
(FAINT SPEECH, CRACKLING)
Oh yeah!
(LORNA LAUGHS)
"There's a figure stood behind you,
by the wardrobe."
"And I said I were cold."
"Yeah."
LORNA: Wow.
(CRACKLING)
"Who's here with us?"
Cor!
I do think that this was John
Yeah.
..we were communicating with.
You look quite emotional, Jay.
I am.
What do you think
is making you emotional now?
Part of me thinks
that they want help.
Yeah.
Maybe moving on.
Mm-hm.
Another part of me thinks that
..something wants to stay.
Mm.
They enjoy our presence here.
Right, OK.
Um,
and if I'm being honest,
I'm enjoying their presence.
(LORNA LAUGHS)
That's nice. That's lovely.
So we moved next door,
into your kitchen.
We went in there, and we were using
an application called necrophonics,
and we were actually
calling out again for John,
and we'll play this for you.
LORNA: OK.
"Who likes to"
(WHISPER)
JAYNE: "That said John!"
LORNA: John. John.
(THEY LAUGH)
Jayne was really excited.
LORNA: Yeah. Really clearly.
Absolutely did.
John.
Yeah. But we also heard a child's
voice come through as well
LORNA: Yeah.
..and I wanna play this for you.
"John"
(ECHOED SPEECH)
"That was a little child."
"It was."
"What did it say?"
"Did it say help?"
"Mm-hm."
"John"
(CHILD'S VOICE)
"Help." God, I had a shiver again.
Did you?
"Help," yeah.
Mm-hm.
"Help." Please help. Yeah.
JAYNE: So we actually moved on
from your kitchen,
into your second lounge,
your toy room here at the front.
LORNA: Yeah.
We were using this time an
application called Spirit Talker.
Now, Spirit Talker can actually
bring up full sentences,
which is really exciting for us,
because usually they are
completely relevant and make sense.
LORNA: Yeah.
And it didn't let us down.
LORNA: Ooh!
"John, do you like it here?
"Are you happy?"
(SOFT VOICE)
"What happened?"
I've just had another shiver.
Yeah.
That was from my head again.
So, to explain that
Yeah.
..we felt that John
didn't know he'd passed over.
Yeah, OK.
And as we, as we talked collectively
about that possible scenario,
John was listening.
Then we got these two more responses.
(FAINT STATIC BUZZ, SOFT VOICE)
"He's maybe happy now he knows."
LORNA: Ah.
He's aware.
Yeah.
Yeah, we explained to him
that he'd passed over.
Yeah.
And he was just letting us know
he was happy we'd told him,
we'd shared it with him.
Oh, great.
Not confused any more. Mm.
Yeah. Yeah.
And then we received this response.
"He just needed to know"
(SOFT VOICE)
"Doorway!"
Ooh!
"So he has."
Wow.
So I think what happened here,
because we was talking and
explaining to John what happened,
and he was just letting us know
"Doorway."
..he's gone through the doorway.
Amazing. Wow.
I'm definitely, er,
I've definitely been turned here.
There's things I can't explain.
(LORNA GIGGLES)
If I can't explain it, then
Well, yeah.
The audio is there.
Mm-hm.
It's clear to hear.
The proof is there, to me.
As soon as John departed
LORNA: Oh, wow.
..our company
Yeah.
..the responses came through
from Arthur.
Oh. Yeah.
(SOFT VOICE)
"I'm a child."
"Oh, my God."
"That's amazing."
"I'm a child."
We began talking about your house,
and why he was here,
and there were these two responses.
"Arthur?
"Are you with other children?
"That could be the reason why"
(SOFT VOICE)
Oh!
(LORNA LAUGHS)
"Adventure."
Yeah.
"Do you love it here?
"Do you love this big house?"
"We know that the workhouse
was close"
(SOFT VOICE)
LORNA: Ah!
(JAYNE LAUGHS)
So
(LORNA LAUGHS)
..so he thinks your house
is beautiful.
Oh, bless him.
I feel that Arthur
had a strong connection here.
And normally we would
send spirits to the light,
'cause it's very important, we have
to think about their well-being,
and where they want to be
Yeah.
..and be put at rest.
But it would be verynice
LORNA: Mm.
..if you would join us
Ah. Yes.
..today doing that.
Oh, wonderful.
To send him to the light.
Yeah.
And maybe we can send
his little friends through
Yeah.
..as well.
So would you like
to do that with us?
Absolutely.
Yeah, definitely.
OK, we'll set up for that now.
Great.
Alright.
Jayne, would you like to light
the candle for me, please?
(SCRAPE, FLAME RUSTLES)
(SOFT, STIRRING NOTES)
We pray, Father, for your love.
We ask for the doorway that
separates the two worlds to be open.
Arthur.
Thank you so much
for talking to us.
But it's now time to leave.
It's now time to find a family
that you've been looking for.
You need to walk into that light.
Keep walking into that light.
JAYNE: What's the matter?
He won't go.
What?
He won't go.
Arthur?
Arthur?
You need to do this for me.
Ah.
He wants to stay.
Does he need to know you'd be OK
if he went
You can tell him
..to his real family?
..he can stay.
What does he want to do?
If he wants to stay, he can stay.
He wants to stay with your family.
As long as there's no harm to him,
he can stay.
There's no harm.
He's had that option to go.
He's got free will.
You tell,
you tell Arthur he can stay.
Arthur.
You can stay.
You can play.
(LORNA LAUGHS)
You're more than welcome.
God bless you, Arthur.
Amen.
ALL: Amen.
Amen.
JAYNE: That's really upset me.
Yeah.
LORNA: Aw!
JAYNE:
I think you've done the right thing.
I've never experienced that.
No.
They always go through
Yeah.
..into the light.
He went into the door.
He looked back and came back.
Ah.
He wanted to stay.
Bless him.
I'm choked up.
Yeah.
LORNA: Yeah.
Would you like to do that, Jayne?
Blow the candle.
We're all in tears here
Mm.
..and, er, it's just really a credit
to somebody from a spirit world
wanting to stay.
To stay, yeah.
Er, tells you
that you're amazing parents.
(THEY LAUGH)
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for having us.
No, thank you.
Yeah, thanks for everything.
LORNA: Aw.
That was an emotional case.
Yeah, what a little twist, though,
with Arthur.
Mm.
Really upset me, that did.
Yeah, I know.
(STIRRING NOTES)
NARRATOR:
This has been a fascinating,
and sometimes
emotional investigation.
But who knows
what the next case will bring?
