but it's getting to the point

From day one that we moved in

anything of it.
But then the pennies
kept reappearing.
Every time we find a penny
we put it on
the closest light switch
to where we found it.
When we moved in,
Jon were getting ready to put

And, as he got the ladders,

There's just no explanation
for it.
When we were doing things
to the house,
things would move
or they'd disappear -
like keys going missing, tools.
You go to pick 'em back up
and they're not there.
I was going in t' cupboard
to get some dog food out
and an iron's fallen off
the shelf.
I mean, the iron lives
on that shelf.
It doesn't move.
So physical things
are starting to happen.
There were another day
where I came in from shopping,
saw what I thought were our dog
at the top of the stairs
and then looked round.
The dog were actually coming
through the hallway to greet me.
So that left me a bit,
"Well, what did I actually see
at the top of the stairs?"
Ever since
I was five or six-years-old,
all I've ever known
in my life is death.
I had a brother what died.
A year or so later
I lost an uncle
and then I lost my nanna.
Death has just followed me
all my life
and maybe I'm welcoming things
that I shouldn't be welcoming -
I don't know.
But,
since moving into this house,
I've gone from being this person
what loves to entertain,
to have people round,
to wanting to be secluded,
wanting to be on my own.
I'm quite irritable all the time,
I'm snappy,
just picking fights here,
there and everywhere.
The second living room,
it just feels like something
is attacking me inside.

Well,
Goole has a fascinating history.
It was a purpose-built port town
that was built in 1826
to house the dock workers
and the merchants.
So we're sitting in the oldest
part of Goole right here
and Goole's main trade was
in in coal exports.
Now, lots of labourers
from the countryside
came in to work on the docks, er,
people came in to work
on the ships to go to sea.
But there was also more affluent
people coming to settle in Goole.
I think
that's really interesting for me
because the house
that we're interested in
is on Clifton Gardens.
And I think Clifton Gardens,
if I'm right,
is one of the more affluent areas
or certainly was back then.

Clifton Gardens started
to be laid out
from around the 1880s, 1890s.
And those houses, which were
grand Victorian houses,
most of them had
domestic servants.
They were occupied by the more
affluent sections of the town.

us with the answer.
Some people assume that the word
"imp" means demon or demonic.
It doesn't, not necessarily.
They're elementals,
they're energetic spirits
and they're not human.
They're just here to cause
mischief, mayhem, disruption
but they can also cause
oppression and mood swings
and changes to your personality.

That might explain what
you've been going through, Jon.
Yeah. The bouts of, like,
feeling down, feeling low
but coming back to normal
when I'm away from the house.
It kind of makes sense.
You almost subconsciously knew
the room that was the problem

and we had this response,
which verified that.

So, after you left us,
we decided to move upstairs
and, quite quickly,
there was a noise that made us
all react and jump.

I think, possibly,
that was mischievous behaviour
by these low-level entities -
a little bit of a scare.
But we also heard another sound,

a coin hitting the floor.
It was that, another penny.

It's remarkable.
We've done a clean sweep
of this place,
checked the carpets
and looked around,
setting up the cameras
and equipment.
There were no pennies
or coins anywhere on the floor
so these are totally anomalous.
We decided to venture upstairs
to the top floor of the property
and investigate around
the landing.

Now, we knew that there
was a gentleman
that lived in this property -
in the early 1900s -
and he was on the 1911 census.
His name was Thomas Clegg
and his family also lived here.
And we felt that
this was Thomas' energy,
this male spirit.
So we were calling out for Thomas
and we got an immediate response.

Are you Thomas Clegg?
"I am"?
Clear as day.
Yeah.
Yeah. How does that make you feel?
Peaceful, really
Yeah.
..because, if he's still here,
it must be a nice place to live.
Yeah.
Now, interestingly,
we were at the top floor landing
and we were using EchoVox
to try and get some answers
as to who scratched you, Donna.
IAN: (ON RECORDING)
Who gave her the three scratches?
Two words.
Yeah, "those imps".
Imps.
Yeah.
How do you feel now, knowing

and control, you know, it's fear.

but we think that these coins

from loved ones, in spirit,
letting you know
that they're around you.

So we knew that, actually,
those human spirits -

they've been telling us

So we decided that, actually,
what we needed to do first
was banish
these low-level entities.
So Ian began saying prayer
at the top of the house
and he worked his way down.
The idea behind that, of course,
is to cleanse and lift and lighten
every space,
until you get
to the darkest space that's left.
Yeah.
Barri was running an application
at the same time
and I find
this absolutely fascinating.
I could hear Ian praying
at the top of the stairs
and this came out.

Just had a response on the ITC
ENTITY: I'm from the 1900s.
Oh, wow!
I lived in the 1900s.

And then I believe Thomas
told us this.

at all about the spirit
that was helping us through
this process,
we weren't anymore
after we got this.
