Parenthood s06e10 Episode Script
How Did We Get Here?
I think I'm losing my business.
The Luncheonette is like a weight around my neck and I want it gone.
We need to sign the papers, Joel.
Is this what you want? If he's sneaking around doing stuff that's not good for his health, I have to know about it.
Can he fly? I trusted you.
You let me down.
What were you gonna do in France? I was gonna surprise you on our anniversary, and I was gonna take you there.
Well, we could still go.
We need an ambulance.
I think my husband's having a heart attack.
Okay, okay.
So, wait.
Do we know that this was definitely a heart attack? What kind of pain was he in? - No, they didn't say that exactly.
- We don't know that.
But what did Dr.
Gordon say? What did he say? I haven't spoken with him.
Well, do you think it could've been just heartburn, do you think? I put a call in to him, but Or maybe a, a heart attack.
I just haven't heard back yet.
Okay.
I'm gonna call Dr.
Gordon right now.
But who's in charge, then? Who's giving us any information? Where is he anyway? Hi, what's happening? I tried I was calling you.
Well, we don't know yet.
Okay.
Is he okay? SARAH: It's a lot of, "We don't know.
" Of course he's okay.
He's your father.
Maybe it's the doctor.
Hello? Yeah, this is Adam Braverman.
Ah, it's the security company that handles the Luncheonette.
What's going on? The alarm went off.
Should we have them send a patrol car over there? We've had some false alarms.
So, what do you wanna do? Just have them send a car? The alarm went off? Who cares right now? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's just the alarm Please send a car over there.
Thank you.
Mom.
Hey.
Hey.
I didn't want, want you kids to see me like this.
Mom, it's okay.
We don't know that it's okay.
Oh, Adam.
It was bad.
It was really bad.
I don't know if he's gonna make it through this.
All right, all right, Mom.
All right.
Whoa! Hi.
There you are.
Hi.
Hi! How you doing? Thank you for coming.
I don't even know how I am.
How's he feeling? Uh, we're just waiting, you know? I called your brother.
He'll be here.
How's baby? We're okay.
Yeah? Yeah.
Glad you're here.
Me too.
Come on.
No.
Come on! Damn it! Uh-huh.
Okay, well, look.
There's absolutely no way we can go down there right now.
So, do you think maybe you could ask them to lock the doors when they leave and we'll Okay.
We will come as soon as we can.
I mean So, what happened? Someone broke into the Luncheonette.
It was not raccoons.
Well, did they take anything? They said it was bad.
Who's there? The police? This is exactly what we needed.
Oh, my God, you guys.
Mrs.
Braverman? Dr.
Lewis is working on your husband and he'll be out as soon as he can to give you an update.
How's he doing? He's doing okay.
Well, did anybody contact Dr.
Gordon yet? Dr.
Lewis spoke to Dr.
Gordon and Dr.
Gordon updated him on your father's history.
So, uh That's good.
He's stabilized? The doctor will be out as soon as he can to give you an update, Mrs.
Braverman.
I promise you, everyone's doing everything they can for him.
Okay, thank you.
So, you were at Joel's then? Shh! Shh! Of course you were.
Nobody puts a pencil skirt on at 2:00 in the morning.
Okay.
What's happening? This is a walk of shame outfit.
Listen, listen.
We're not back together.
We may possibly be on the way to getting back together.
Oh, my God.
So, I just Shh.
When are we gonna know? He doesn't deserve you.
- I need to get off this rollercoaster.
- I'm sorry.
- Oh, God.
Hi.
Hi.
- Hey.
It's me.
Where are you? Ugh, I'm so sorry.
Everybody's okay.
But I'm at the hospital.
My dad had another incident and, um Oh, wow.
Uh, what, he's okay though? We, we're waiting to hear.
He's, he's, uh, he's stable for now.
Yeah.
I'm so sorry.
I just I should've left you a note.
I've Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know, I get it.
That's fine.
But, um, well, I'm gonna come over there then.
No, no, no.
We're There's 1,000 people here.
We're okay.
Well I wanna be there for you.
I wanna, I wanna do something.
I wanna, I wanna help.
I'll bring some stuff over.
I'll bring, I'll bring food and beverages, and baked goods, or Oh.
Well If you wanted Drew's car broke down, and I don't know if you'd feel comfortable in the car with him.
Okay, okay.
Great.
I'll go.
I'll get him then.
I'll send you his number.
Yes.
All right, good.
Thanks, Hank.
Perfect, I'm gonna get him.
Oh, speak of the devil.
Bye.
He's gonna go pick up your brother.
It's okay.
He's Camille, I'm so sorry.
Look at you.
Look what you did.
Oh.
Yeah.
I know how hospital coffee is, so You're right.
Double soy latte.
Is that still your drink? It is still my drink.
You're an angel.
All right.
Sure.
Hey, that is for you.
Oh, I could kiss you.
Thank you.
No one's stopping you.
Hi.
Hey.
Um Uh, where are the kids? I left them with the Heathmans.
They're gonna take them into school.
Okay.
Yeah.
Sorry, I had to, I had to do something.
No, no.
Thank you.
Sure.
"Julia.
" That's you.
Um, you don't have to stay.
No, I I want to.
If that's okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay.
Okay.
Camille.
Hi, sweetie.
How's he doing? Um, we're being positive.
Okay.
You're good? Um I don't mean in It's fine now, obviously.
I mean Like, in general, school and, and what have you Yeah, it's fine.
Yeah, it's fine.
Okay good.
We're gonna get there I got the whole thing MapQuested.
So, we're gonna get there on time.
I mean, on time for I just mean in a quick time, we're gonna get there.
We're not gonna get lost or anything.
Car wouldn't start, huh? Nope.
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
I can't Can we just not talk? Oh, yeah, all right, don't talk.
Yeah.
That's what I should That was my first instinct, was not to talk to you.
Should've went with that.
I'm good.
I like I'm very good at not talking.
Mrs.
Braverman? Yes.
I'm Dr.
Lewis, I've been treating your husband.
Yes.
He's stabilized.
But what happened? Did he have a heart attack? Yes.
He did have a heart attack.
And we were able to stabilize his irregular heartbeat, but he's not out of the woods yet.
He's strong enough now, so I feel it's safe to transfer him to the ICU.
I spoke to Dr.
Gordon, who will see him once he's in the ICU to talk about next steps.
Well, if you've stabilized him, what next steps would there be? Not surgery.
It's too early to say.
Once Dr.
Gordon sees him, he can talk to you about a plan.
But Dr.
Gordon is the best there is.
You're in very good hands.
Okay.
Can we see him? Well, we need to get him into the ICU first.
All right? There's a room available.
We just need to wait for him to transfer in.
Okay.
It's gonna be a couple hours.
Is the room across the city? I'm sorry.
This is me.
I've gotta go.
I'm sorry, a couple hours.
What does all that mean? It means we're doing everything we can.
All right.
Sweetie, why, why don't you and Crosby go to the studio? No, Mom.
I wanna stay here with you.
No, I'm okay.
Julia's here.
Sarah's here, I'm fine.
Really go.
Are you sure? Oh, absolutely.
All right.
Hey, Cros.
Let's check in on the Luncheonette.
Oh, yeah.
That'll be uplifting.
Okay.
Let me know how it goes, okay? Hey, just a couple hours.
Good luck, guys.
All right, we'll be back.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
I'm gonna check the office.
The drums are gone.
Hey, hey.
Mom.
Hi.
How is he? He's hanging in there, honey.
How are you? What happened to the car? It just didn't start.
I don't know.
Oh, gosh.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
Hank just drove me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um, uh Hey, you guys.
So, should I stay here? Oh, no We're just I mean Okay.
We've got a full house Joel's here though, so And there's nothing we can do except wait.
Yeah, Joel's here.
All right, I mean, I'll stay for you.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Hey, guys.
Hey.
Camille.
Hi.
I could've brought the bagels too.
We went right by the bagel store.
I'm sorry, I should've done that.
Yeah.
How you holding up? No, it's fine I'm gonna say hi to your mom.
Fine.
Hey.
Hey, Camille.
Hi.
I'm, I'm Hank.
We met a couple times.
Of course, Hank.
Yeah.
Uh, I'm sorry, uh, about, about what's going on here.
Thanks.
If you need anything, I'm around.
Sons of bitches.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, who does that? I don't know.
Also, rip off someone who can afford it.
You know? Take down Wall Street or something.
You're picking on us? We don't have anything.
Crosby, just take a breath.
This is why we have insurance.
It'll be fine.
Yeah, the insurance company's gonna really help us out.
They're gonna delay payment for God knows how long and then they're gonna haggle over the value of every single piece of equipment we have.
It's all vintage.
You know they're gonna say it's worth nothing.
You know they will.
It's the final nail in the coffin.
I guarantee it.
We have a good insurance policy.
Can you choose a different metaphor, please? Why is all this happening right now? I don't know.
Why is Dad in ICU? Grandma's 94 years old or something.
She's still going strong.
And Dad's in there at 73.
It doesn't make sense.
Cros, Dad is gonna pull through.
He's gonna be all right.
But just let me deal with the insurance company.
I'm gonna work it out.
Let's just stay focused on Dad.
All right? Don't worry about it.
Oh, Amber.
I just remembered, tonight's your baby shower.
That's What? No, no.
Oh, my God.
We didn't even think about calling him.
We're not Yeah.
Well, you have to go.
It's not happening.
Your mom paid for it.
You shouldn't lose all that money.
It was mostly just us anyway.
We'll just try to see if we can switch it to another night.
I can call the guy, if you want.
I can do that for you.
I actually know him.
I can call him.
He worked with me on the campaign, and catering and stuff.
If you don't mind, maybe.
You're the Okay, if you know him, you do it.
- I do, yeah, I know him.
- Yeah, yeah.
Don't worry about it, okay.
- Done.
- We don't care.
- Hey, any news? - Hey.
Hey, what happened? Uh, they took everything.
What? Everything's trashed and broken.
I'm sorry.
Nothing to be done about it now.
Honey.
Leland.
Leland, thank you so much for coming.
Of course.
Of course, I'm gonna be here.
He's had a pretty bad setback.
Right.
Um, we're still trying to pinpoint exactly what happened.
Right now, we're waiting to see how he responds to the medical therapy that we've already given him.
We just wanna make sure his heart, his lungs, his kidneys are as strong as possible before we consider any more treatment.
What kind of treatment? It could be as simple as taking him up into the cath lab and putting some stents in.
Okay.
But, if the valve is part of the problem, we're probably gonna have to go back in surgically and repair it.
Oh, no.
I know, I know.
I wish I could tell you that everything's gonna be all right.
We're just gonna have to take one step at a time.
So, be patient with us until we can figure it all out.
He's stable in the meantime.
You can visit him.
Zeek? We're all here.
You're gonna be okay, Pop.
Hey, Dad.
- Hey.
- Hey.
It's pretty rough in there.
Okay.
I'll go in with you.
Thanks.
I'm sorry.
It's family members only.
He's my husband.
Okay, this way.
Hey, Pop.
Joel and I are here.
Um Is that What's happening? Sorry, I need you to step outside, please.
Can you Can you just give me a little bit of - Mind telling us what's going on? - What's happening? Call the crash cart.
Charge to 200.
Zeek They just took Dad to the operating room.
- What? - Just now.
He lost consciousness and then I don't know, the machine started beeping and What machine? CROSBY: Did he have another heart attack? They defibrillated him.
Did they use it to shock him? Did he have a heart attack? What the hell's going on? It was, it was They took him to the cath lab.
He had another heart attack.
And then, they were able to normalize his heartbeat.
They had to put stents in him, so they took him away, so that they can get blood back to the heart, but that's all I know.
But they're on top of it.
Hey, Drew.
What, are you getting a soda? Yeah.
Cafeteria.
Listen, uh, your grandfather's gonna be okay.
So, you know, just, I want you to know that.
I think that you don't actually really know that.
You looked upset.
I'm just trying to stay positive, that's all.
I just messed up so bad the other day.
He asked me not to tell my grandmother something that he was trying to plan for her.
And then I just ratted him out.
I think that's it.
That's the last thing he's gonna remember about me when he's No.
Drew.
Yeah, it is.
It's like, he's been there for me the whole time, way more than my dad.
Way more than any of these losers that my mom brings around.
He ain't gonna be thinking of that, your grandfather.
He's My daughter could tell me that she hates me, which she has told me that.
Something happens, I'm not gonna be thinking of that.
I don't know if your grandfather's gonna be all right or not, but I know that I'm a parent just like him.
We don't hold on to any of that stuff.
Yeah.
Thanks.
Hey.
Hey.
I just got off the phone with the insurance company.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
More great news? Yeah, actually.
Uh, the numbers really worked out in our favor.
Really? It's a much bigger payout than I expected.
Way more.
Like, we could replace all the equipment big or Yeah, yeah.
Yeah or what? Well, we can do that, or we have another alternative.
Just, just hear me out.
We could cash out.
Cash out? Yeah.
Instead of reinvesting in the equipment, we could take the insurance money and dissolve the business and after we pay off our debts, we'd still have some money left over.
Look, Cros, I don't know if we're ever gonna make the Luncheonette profitable, and this way, you know, we're off scot-free.
And we'd even have enough left over to give Amber some severance pay.
Take the money, we can walk away.
We can have a fresh start.
Wow, um, phew.
Yeah, I mean, I guess that makes sense.
It seems like maybe a blessing in disguise.
Mmm-hmm.
But it's such a It's so quick.
Yesterday we had a business.
Now, we're talking about Can I think about it? Yeah, for sure, of course.
I don't want you to do anything you don't wanna do, and we're partners.
Okay.
So, yeah.
Think about it.
Hmm.
You know, we both will.
All right.
All right.
Hey.
What? They put in the stents.
He made it through.
Okay, good.
Mom.
Good.
Okay.
All right.
All right? You okay? I think Yeah.
He's stable.
He's stable.
Good.
He's stable.
Okay, good.
It's okay, Mom.
Hey.
Oh, boy.
That wasn't a banner day, was it? Come on, Dad.
You're a fighter.
Yeah, you're a beast, Dad.
You came through.
You kept us on our toes.
Yeah, that was exciting, Dad.
Mmm-hmm.
You wanna rest now? Uh No, stay.
Okay? Come here.
Oh, Millie.
So, I climb up the side of the house, right? Yeah.
Over the balcony.
I slide in through the window, I'm trying to be quiet, but I'm three sheets to the wind, I smell like a brewery.
And when I'd left, I had put pillows - under the sheets to fool everyone.
- Classic! And I get undressed and I'm sliding into bed, and I feel human skin, and Dad pops up.
And he goes, "Expecting someone else?" How long were you laying there? Uh, it was forever, I think.
I thought there was a corpse in the bed! God, the look on your face though, Cros.
God, it scared the crap out of me.
- Sorry.
Am I interrupting? - Hi.
No, no.
Leland.
Come on in.
There he is.
Oh, man.
I am so sorry about getting you up so early.
Oh, come on now.
Are you kidding me? So, uh, how am I? Um, it's okay to talk? - You want us to leave? - We can leave.
It's up to him.
- No, we're in this together here.
- Okay.
All right, well, look.
We've always been straight with each other, right? Yeah.
We tell it like it is.
Okay.
First of all, the stents we put in were successful.
But your heart, Zeek, is just not as strong as it needs to be.
You're still getting fluid backing up into your lungs, and that's what started all of this to begin with.
So, um, option one, we go back in.
We open you up again and we fix the valve.
Replace the damn thing if we have to.
The problem is you're not as strong as you were the first time we operated.
Opening you back up again could be a very dangerous thing.
Okay.
Uh, so what if I don't do anything? Well, then you run the risks.
Another heart attack or blood clots, or a stroke, aneurism.
All right, okay, so I've got a couple of options and neither one of them sound pretty good to me.
- Okay.
- Mmm.
Option three.
Take some time.
Rest up.
Talk to the family.
I'm sure you'll have lots of questions, and I promise you, we will talk about all of them.
Well, okay.
Thanks, Leland.
Yeah.
Hey, we were looking for you.
Hey.
Yeah.
I needed to take a minute.
I bet.
He's gonna pull through, baby.
I know he will.
You should've heard what they were saying in there.
It was far from positive.
Adam talked to the insurance company and Really? Looks like they're gonna give us a big ol' check.
That's fantastic.
Yeah.
That's good.
He, uh, he thinks we should take the money and just keep it moving.
Break our lease, pay off our debts.
Thinks we can both walk away with, like, 20 grand, even after giving Amber some money.
Hmm.
Shut up shop.
Hmm.
We could take the kid to Hogwarts, and I could get a job at Bay View.
They're always calling.
It'd be a lot of pressure off me and us.
It would.
He thinks it's a no-brainer.
Hmm.
What do you think? I think it's been a really stressful year, and the idea of not having any stress right now sounds pretty good.
Okay.
What do you think? I think I'll support you no matter what.
But you've already tried working for other people and you were miserable and I don't want that.
The Luncheonette, that made you happy.
That was your dream.
And you can't let these jerks that broke in or some slow months of business or even Adam take that away from you.
Life is short, baby.
You gotta hang in there.
Hey.
Can I sit down? Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Please.
Look at Joel.
He's, like, not even married and he's the perfect husband.
Right? He brings coffee.
He knows the medical jargon.
He's I mean, he's in pretty good shape.
He doesn't even eat well.
I saw him at the candy thing, and he's getting Twizzlers, so it's not like he's a health guy.
And, and I don't, you know, I don't even hate him for it, he's a good guy.
Yeah.
I'm sorry, man.
I'm ranting.
I do that.
I just rant when I get nervous.
I just, uh It's fine.
I don't care.
I mean, I mean, I'm just a little Not that I'm nervous, I'm just I'm just I just I wanna be there for your mom.
I don't wanna be one of the losers and Oh, gosh.
Uh, I'm sorry, this is not your problem.
Why am I even talking? Just tell me to shut up.
You can Look, I know, I know I'm an adult.
But you can just smack me or punch me in the neck.
I'm Or anything you wanna do.
Kick me in the slats.
I don't care.
I'm really sorry about that, saying the thing about the losers.
No, it's I don't mean that.
I'm serious.
It doesn't matter, I know.
I was just stressed and really upset about everything, and I appreciate it.
Thanks.
You know, I really like you a lot.
You're probably my favorite guy that my mom's brought around.
I'm your favorite.
I guess, I'm your favorite loser of, of all those ones.
Yeah.
Yeah? You're my favorite loser.
That's I'll take that.
You know what? I'll take that.
I didn't wanna say it, but that's With Joel standing there, I'll take that.
Thanks for driving me.
Really, you didn't have to do that.
And thanks for just being around.
Well, yeah.
Yeah, Drew.
Yeah.
Hey.
Hey.
What you doing? Reading about cardiomyopathy.
Just wanna make sure we're not missing anything.
Honey? Yep.
Why don't we turn this off? Okay? All right.
Seriously.
I'm turning it off.
Just take a break.
Okay.
Take a breath.
All right.
Okay? It's off.
You need to relax a little bit.
Thank you.
You're For what? I didn't do anything.
You did.
What did I do? Just, thank you for being there for me.
And for my family and for my dad.
Honey, you're welcome.
Thank you.
How would you feel if I walked away from the Luncheonette? The insurance payout is pretty good.
Dissolve the business, take the money.
Figure out what's next.
Is Crosby okay with that? I talked to him about it.
He wants some time to think about it, but I think we're on the same page.
You built this together with him.
Yeah, I know.
But it's I mean, it's I don't want you just to throw it away because of We're not making enough money.
I know, I know.
It's like this weight around my neck that I know.
When I thought it I could let go of it, it felt so good.
Well, if that's the reason then, yes, I'm on board.
I wanna let it go.
Then, we're gonna let it go.
All right.
Thank you.
Put the phone away.
Phone's away.
Wow.
Hi.
Excuse me.
I was looking for you.
Hey.
Yeah, I just came out for a little bit.
Sorry I disappeared.
That's all right.
I had to do the vending machine run.
It was my turn.
Oh, wow, yeah.
Do you want something? No, no, no.
I just You gotta be so tired, you should go.
I'm good.
No.
I don't wanna go.
I don't wanna go.
I wanna You know, Joel's here.
There's nothing to do here but wait.
Joel's staying.
Joel's doing the right thing.
Don't stay 'cause Joel's staying.
Well, he's doing the right thing.
He's, he's I kind of like Joel.
I mean, the good Joel, not the bad Joel.
All right.
I understand.
I just For a second All right, well, I'll see you in there.
I wanna just tell you what I was thinking because I know there's a lot going on in there, and, and, and I saw your father, and I It starts me to think about things, you know? I got a lot of things I'm thinking about, life, and time.
Yeah.
I know.
And, you know, doing It's being in this whole place.
In this hospital.
It's, like, it makes you About not being afraid of, you know, doing anything.
Count your blessings.
And doing the right thing.
And doing what's I feel like what's good for yourself and I agree.
Not being afraid and, and, look I know.
That's why we should probably be vegetarians.
We should get married, Sarah.
We should get married.
Yeah.
Oh.
Hank.
I love you.
And, and, and I wanna marry you.
I want to.
I don't wanna be half in.
Not now and not ever.
I just want to, uh I wanna be all in.
You know, you know, uh I'm just so, um, surprised.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know why I can always say things at weird times, but you don't have to You wanna bring him the cookies? We don't, we don't have to No, I just 'Cause, I mean, if it's a no, then, uh, you know Is it a no? Let's, let's talk later.

Yeah? Yeah.
All right.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
Thank you.

I just proposed.
Oh, well, congratulations! Yeah.
Yeah, well.
Thank you.
We're gonna talk about it.
We're gonna talk about it.
It's like a "maybe.
" Oh! But, uh, thank you.
Well.
Thank you.
Yeah, thanks.
You're doing a good job, by the way.
Oh, Millie.
God.
Such a terrible thing to put you through.
I'm so sorry I scared you like that.
Yeah, I was about as scared as I've ever been.
Yeah.
I mean.
God, Millie.
How the hell did we end up here, like this? I mean, don't you wish we could just go back a couple years, just, you know, you and me? And have, have some fun, you know? We'll do it again.
I'm not sure about this operation thing, Millie.
Well, we don't have to be sure about it.
You heard the doctor.
We'll take time, you know.
We'll talk about it.
We'll decide.
We'll talk to the kids.
No.
No, I don't want the kids involved in this.
We'll make the decision, you and me.
Okay.
Okay? Yeah.
Oh.
Hey.
Oh, hey, guys.
Hi.
Hey.
Hi, Amber.
Hi, honey.
Gramps, okay? Yeah.
Hey.
Hi, sweetheart.
How are you? You feeling all right? Oh, my gosh.
How you doing? You all right? Yeah.
Good.
Yeah, I feel like a million bucks.
You look great.
Never better.
Hey, come here.
Hey.
Hi.
Grandpa.
Grandson.
I love you, Grandpa.
I love you too, kid.
I don't know, I guess outside of the hospital is romantic in a way.
Yeah.
It's a little weird, yeah.
Well, you know, even, even when there's a right time to say something, I usually don't.
So, I just figured, you know what, I'm just gonna do it.
And she didn't say "no"? Not yet.
That's big.
Yeah, we'll see.
Good luck to us.
Yeah, man.
Cheers to that.
Worst day ever.
Hmm? Ah, I've had worse.
You've had worse? Have you fallen off of a building or something? Kept that a secret It was pretty bad.
You know what I'm gonna do? Hmm? I'm buying a Lamborghini.
A Lamborghini? That is correct.
Because, I promise you, one day we're gonna look back on this day, and we're gonna be laughing at the day that our dad almost died Mmm-hmm and that the Luncheonette was robbed.
Because Dad's gonna be fine, and we're not gonna have any money problems.
And I'm gonna be driving a Lamborghini Huracan.
I don't know what your dream car is.
Um, I like that Porsche Cayenne.
Hybrid.
What? It's practical.
You put the family in there.
It's easy on the environment.
But it's a Porsche.
Uh, yeah.
You're right that it's practical.
It's practically not a Porsche.
But regardless.
Fine, you're in a Cayenne.
Porsche Cayenne.
And I'm, I'm in a Lambo.
Hybrid.
The point is, I've thought it over, and I don't wanna cash out with this insurance money.
I don't think that's right.
I think, you know, when we, when we started that company, we were at zero, and we took it somewhere amazing and, and now we're not at zero.
I mean, yeah, we've had our legs taken out, but, between you and I, I just, I would bet on us.
And I don't think we should let one rough year break us.
That's not who we are.
We're partners, right? Partners? Yeah.
All right.
Yeah, partners.
How are you doing? I'm exhausted.
Yeah? I just wanna go crawl into bed and sleep for the next three weeks.
All right, well.
Before you do that, I have something to show you.
I don't like this.
Oh, no! There she is! Oh, my God! What is this, guys? You couldn't come to the shower, so we brought the shower to you.
You didn't have to do this.
Look at all these embarrassing pictures of me.
- I know, right? - There's so many.
I know, we have a lot.
And presents.
Oh, guys.
No! We scrounged what we could from This is crazy.
- From Pierre.
- Yes.
We've brought all your presents here and we have our treats and Oh, guys! Come on.
this book, which we made.
It's a tradition that Mom started and she made one for Julia and I.
Each of the moms wrote a page of advice for you.
And then the rest of the book is empty.
And you fill it up with, with the new, uh, the new guy.
You start.
Okay, so I'm not sure how this is gonna sound because I was half a bottle of wine in.
I'm not quite sure this is going to be That's the advice.
Drink wine.
Okay, um, the thing I would say, Amber, about motherhood, is that you are going to get curveballs thrown at you.
A lot of curveballs.
And sometimes they're gonna make you wanna run and hide or despair.
My wisdom for you is to embrace those curveballs and own them.
And I know in my heart that you're gonna be the best mom in the whole world, because you're the best kid in the whole world.
So, I'm so I know you're going to be a wonderful mother because you're so smart and funny and wise, and you have a huge heart, and I know you'll do right by your child, but you also have to do right by yourself.
A huge part of being a mom is, is being a good role model.
So, what I'll say to you is, don't ever give up on your own dreams.
And don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it all, because you can.
I've always loved and admired what a proud person you are.
You're so independent and strong.
But I just want you to make sure that you don't ever feel too proud to come to me or your mom or any of us because we're here for you and we wanna help you.
So, don't ever hesitate to pick up the phone and call.
Just not too late.
Amber.
Forget it.
No matter what, I will always have your back.
I know.
Amber, I would say to you that life is short.
You cannot know how impossibly fast it goes by.
So, just enjoy this baby.
Cherish this time.
Cherish every minute of it.
I will.
All right.
Okay? It's off.

Grandpa.
I will.
