[rock music plays]
It's been a month since the decision
to resume the Sekai Taikai.
The tragic events of Barcelona
are now behind us.
Our remaining fighters are hard at work
training for their chance
to become world champions.
With all the media attention,
our tournament will now reach
an audience far greater than before.
The winning fighters and dojos
will reap the benefits of victory.
The stakes have never been higher.
[rock music continues]
Which is why I'm here, in the Valley.
Now that the senseis
have agreed to finish the Sekai Taikai,
we must all work together
to ensure
this competition concludes
without any more drama.
[music stops]
- [man 1] You always this stupid?
- [man 2] This should be easy.
[woman] I like a hot dog
as much as the next person, but
We cannot afford to pay
for three different vegan food vendors.
People need to eat, Gavin.
This isn't the Fyre Festival.
You weren't worried about cutting costs
when you cut my blue mats.
Your blue mats had a fungus
that the lab deemed a health hazard.
I've been saying for years it's a mistake
to have so many bare feet
in a moist gymnasium.
I don't like that word, George.
What word? Gymnasium?
[woman scoffs]
Enough!
The mats will be red.
We'll have one vegan food vendor.
And 50% of all T-shirt sales will go
to the Sekai Taikai discretionary fund.
Oh, sounds like
someone's wetting his beak.
You're one to talk. What about that dinner
you hosted down in Temecula?
That was to secure the parking permits.
- Is no one concerned about the e-tickets?
- What the hell is wrong with paper?
Apart from the fact
that it's the 21st century?
You also wanna roll back the clocks
to when women couldn't vote?
If it'll shut you up, then yeah.
- Oh, you misogynistic
- No!
- No!
- People, people!
This dysfunction will cease.
When I raise the microphone
to resume the tournament,
we will project complete professionalism.
What do you mean,
when you raise the microphone?
- I'll be the master of ceremonies.
- [Daryl] Like hell you will. Listen.
I don't know how they do things
in Austria, or Slovakia,
or wherever the hell you from,
but you in the Valley now,
and we got a way
of doing things around here.
Mm-hmm.
You're right.
We'll settle it the old way.
I'm glad you agree. [chuckles]

We're taking a ride up the coast
to do a wine tasting.
The kids should train alone more often.
Can't remember
the last time we were in Ojai.
What about you?
You just gonna toil away all day here?
No, I am binging Storage Wars.
Only have 16 episodes left.
You're gonna watch eight hours
of people scavenging
through abandoned storage units?
Yep! [laughs]
Excuse me. Mr. Toe-Gucki live here?
It's Toguchi.
Oh, excuse me. Mr. Toguchi.
Registered letter for you, sir.
- Thank you.
- If you just sign.
Hey, this is some place you have here.
From the outside yard,
you'd never know it.
From Kumiko.
She apologizes for not returning my call.

for long time.
Ah. Problem with phone company.
[gentle music plays]
She says that she loves me.
As a friend.
Her heart lies somewhere else.
Oh, Chozen, I'm so sorry.
Yeah, that's that's her loss.
It's okay. Really.
Maybe, uh, I confused friendship for love.
[gentle music continues]
I will watch Storage Wars now.
Wow, that was a very evolved response.
I don't buy it for a minute.
You didn't see him in Spain.
He was a mess.
He's gonna mix up a dozen
Long Island iced teas and go on a bender.
We can't leave him alone.
- But
- We can't.
Then we'll bring him with us.
Winnie Taylor has been asking me
to set her up.
We can make it a double date.
- Is that a good match?
- [Amanda] They're not getting married.
It's a couple glasses of Chardonnay
and some light conversation.
- Unless you think he's better off here.
- Do not bid over 900, you asshat!
It's like, uh, setting wallet on fire!
[Chozen shouts in Japanese]
Stupid!
- Make the call.
- Yeah.
Okay, we have extra socks,
slippers, phone charger.
- Hey. Got room in there for this?
- [Rosa exclaims]
When I was born, my mom got a flat
on the way to the hospital.
She got the rest of the way
on roller skates. Made it just in time.
Nurses called her "Lucky Laura."
[tire iron clanks]
Your mom was a strong woman.
Fortunately, if our car breaks down,
we can call an Uber.
Uh, no way.
It's a total crapshoot with those drivers.
Okay, then we can just call Amanda.
Amanda. Should we add that name
to the list?
You want to name our daughter
after your co-sensei's wife?
Yeah, not when you mention it like that.
[in Spanish] Johnny, have you considered
the name "Bastarda"?
- [in English] "Bastarda"?

Is that a common name?
You bring baby

We are kind of doing things

[Rosa] Mm-hmm.
- Don't worry. I'll make things right.
- [Rosa] Not with me.

After today, we shall forever be known
as the Binary Senseis, huh?
[Hawk chuckles]
So, uh, you hear anything from MIT? Hm?

Yeah, I did.
I just didn't know how to tell you.
It's gonna be a no-go.

I'm sorry, Eli.

But I'm still pretty stoked.

- [Hawk] Yeah.
But, um, if this really is our last rodeo,
I'm I'm glad we're going out with a bang.
- [Robby] What's up, guys?
- Hey, there he is.
The future champion of the Sekai Taikai.
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Nobody scored a point
on Axel all tournament.
Yeah? Well, that's about to change.
What's all this?
All this is how Miyagi-Do
is gonna win the Sekai Taikai.
- [Tory] LaRusso?
- Yeah.
What are you doing here?
The Miyagi-Do boys are training together.
I know we have to fight each other
in the semis,
but I figured if I'm gonna fight the best,
I wanna train with the best.
I'm not fighting.
I quit.
Wait. What?
You should be happy.
One less person for you to fight.
[melancholy music plays]
Have you talked to Robby about this?
[Tory] I don't need to talk to Robby.
I'm not putting
that Cobra Kai gi on ever again.
You're not gonna convince me otherwise.
That means I advance to the finals.
I have to fight you-know-who.

- Hello!
Winnie Taylor,
please meet our friend Chozen Toguchi.
Chozen, what a wonderful name.
Did you know it's derived from two words
meaning "honesty" and "integrity?"
- Oh, I did not know that.
- [Daniel] Here. Have a seat.
Sorry I'm late. [chuckles]
- I just got a Reiki treatment.
- [waiter] Here you go.
I know it's a Japanese spiritual practice.
Have you tried it?
- Have not.
- [Winnie] Oh, you must.
My healer, Avram, is amazing.
He'll change your life.
- I am good.
- I don't know, Chozen. Give it a shot.
Daniel-san, in Okinawa, we have a saying
[speaks Japanese]
Uh, which means, uh, "Reiki is bullshit."
Uh Ooh! So, uh, can you believe, Winnie,
that our girls are off to college?
Oh my gosh, Amanda, I am so not ready.
Oh, this one too.
Sam's applying to a few programs
across the world.
It's gonna be a big adjustment.
You got that right.
When Sage went off to Pitzer,
I figured
life would basically be the same.
I mean, it's only 30 miles away.
But it changed everything.
Well, I mean, not everything.
Oh, you'll see.
No one prepares you
for how emotionally devastating it is
when your first child leaves the nest.
My biorhythm still hasn't recovered.
Even weekly sound baths, crystal healing
That is because, uh,
crystals are also bullshit.

Johnny Lawrence.

- Hey, buddy.

where a guy can tell a stranger
everything he's doing wrong
until he feels better?
Well, confessionals
are only in Catholic churches,
but you can talk to me.
What's going on?
Well, as you know,
me and my lady are having a baby.
Yes. Any day now, right?
Yeah, and the thing is, uh,
Carmen and I aren't married.
Oh, and you think
God is gonna have a problem
with you bringing a baby
into the world unwed.
Sh, keep it down.
Johnny, relax.
God's not gonna punish you
for not being married.
Are you sure?
I'm positive.
[Johnny exhales] That's a relief.
[Johnny sighs]
I was gonna propose a few months back,
but I ended up getting tanked
and took on five ninjas.
My buddy got 70 stitches.
Didn't feel like the right moment.
Then I was gonna do it
after the Sekai Taikai,
but after what happened in Barcelona
- You know, with the kid?
- Yeah. We've all seen that. It's tragic.
I figured we win the tournament,
we'd get more kids in the dojo,
and I can afford a real house.
I was gonna propose the day we moved in.
I wanted everything to be perfect.
Listen. That's all totally normal.
But let me ask you a question.
When's the last time things felt perfect?
Honestly?
After I won the All Valley in '83.
Holding the trophy up there,
I felt unstoppable.
Yeah. I remember.
What were the names of those two chicks
you hooked up with that night?
They were so hot. They were wild.
- My point is
- That one was a freak.
No, my point is life's not perfect.
- We have good days. We have bad ones.
- Yeah.
The hope is the good ones win.
But if you're waiting around
for things to be perfect
before taking the next step,
your feet are gonna get awfully stiff.
Don't sleep on your own happiness, Johnny.
