The Amazing Race Canada (2013) s07e02 Episode Script

Our Competiton's Not That Smart

1 JON: Previously, on The Amazing Race Canada JON: Go! JON: ten teams embarked on the adventure of a lifetime.
SARAH: This is such a rush.
JON: In Toronto, they were immediately thrown to the lions.
ANTHONY: "The Lion King," yes! SEAN: This is rough! JON: And then zipped their way across Kamloops, British Columbia, where Dave and Irina fought their way to the top IRINA: I told you! In your face! JON: to win the title of first-leg champions JON: You're team number one! JON: and scoring two coveted Express Passes.
IRINA: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! JON: Teams were all over the map, and went Kamloop-y trying to find their way.
JET: I don't have a map.
Risky business, as they say! AMY: Argh! JON: And while it looked like Gilles and Sean were moving on to greener pastures SEAN: I think this is it for us.
JET: That's bad.
JON: it was Canada's Choice, Jet and Dave, who couldn't make up lost time JET: Yee-ow! JON: ending their second chance for victory.
DAVE: Last hug? JON: Bring it in, boys! DAVE: Ah! This is worth it! It's suddenly worth it! JON: Now, nine teams remain as they race to win The all-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS A once-in-a-lifetime trip for two around the world A quarter of a million dollars cash And the Amazing Race Canada! JON: Located between the rugged Hoodoos and the snow-capped Rockies, this is the desert city of Kamloops, British Columbia.
It's right here that nine teams will begin the second leg of Canada's favourite summertime adventure: The Amazing Race Canada.
Dave and Irina won the last leg of the race, and will depart first at 5:46 am.
IRINA: Drive yourselves to Revelstoke, British Columbia.
JON: Teams will load into a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse and drive themselves over two and a half hours through the majestic mountains along the Trans-Canada Highway, to the peaceful town of Revelstoke, British Columbia, originally founded during the building of the Canadian-Pacific Railway.
DAVE: Hm.
IRINA: That's awesome.
DAVE: Nice car! IRINA: To Revelstoke, British Columbia.
Find your next clue along the way at the Last Spike.
DAVE: So we're gonna follow this railway, I think.
It's a massive railway.
JON: At 9:22, on the morning of November 7th, 1885, the final railway tie was hammered into place to complete the Canadian-Pacific Railway, and uniting our country.
Once the teams find the Last Spike monument, they'll receive their next clue.
DAVE: Dave and Irina, currently in first place.
IRINA: Feeling pumped.
Feeling good.
Feeling stressed.
IRINA: Woo! IRINA: Even though we have an Express Pass, pressure is on.
We have to keep going.
IRINA: Our competitors are not that bright, so we're gonna do fine.
DAVE: Canada's most hated couple.
IRINA: We're lovable.
SAM: Drive yourselves to Revelstoke, British Columbia.
SARAH: Let's go.
SAM: Go.
SARAH: On the first leg, we had a tough start, but we were able to come back and climb from last into second.
As an Olympic athlete, the hurdles are in the exact same spot every single time.
The Amazing Race Canada is out of my comfort zone.
We're going east, baby.
MEAGHAN: We should be following the sunrise.
The sun sets in the west.
LAUREN: Last Spike, bro.
JOANNE: Give me some tickles, brutha! LAUREN: Yeah! AMY: My father was a high school geography teacher.
I'm gonna map this out correctly.
AMY: First leg, we spent a lot of time second-guessing ourselves.
We're not middle-of-the-pack racers.
We are front of the pack.
TRISH: Left or right? Left or right? I'm on Columbia.
Left or right? AMY: Where's the map I had? ANTHONY: Oh my God, look at the mirror in this car.
JAMES: I know.
Wow, fancy.
AARTHY: Is this the Trans-Canada? THINESH: Yeah, this is highway 1.
AARTHY: Where do you see that? THINESH: On all the signs.
AARTHY: [groans.]
You are the worst at finding stuff.
I need Thinesh, when I'm having a meltdown-- which I will-- I just need Thinesh to just calm me down.
THINESH: Maybe I should have just driven.
You're great with a map.
AARTHY: [groans.]
LAUREN: I have no idea who was eliminated last leg.
JOANNE: I don't know.
I don't think it's Jet and Dave.
It just doesn't seem like it would happen to them, but seeing what this race can do, it honestly could be.
JAMES: Our only hope is that Jet and Dave are gone, they're packing on a jet plane and heading back to Ontario.
Bye! AISHA: Road trip! NICKI: There's no crying today.
AISHA: No crying today.
NICKI: You cry, I cry.
AISHA: I know, I know, I know! NICKI: Waterworks.
AISHA: Woo! NICKI: Leg two! Let's go! BOTH: Aah! NICKI: Go, girl! AISHA: I know, girl, thanks! NICKI: You bring the flava! NICKI: to Revelstoke.
It's in 116 kilometres.
AISHA: That's a new single.
[laughter.]
GILLES: We're off.
SEAN: Okay.
We've gotta find the Last Spike.
GILLES: Last leg, I felt like I let Sean down.
I'm gonna do better today.
SEAN: Teamwork.
GILLES: Yes.
SEAN: I'm just gonna go right.
GILLES: No, I'd hang a left.
DAVE: Look how beautiful that is, babe.
If you live here, you see that every morning.
IRINA: Let's move to Revelstoke, that's what I think.
DAVE: The Last Spike, baby! Ah-ha! IRINA: Who needs maps? MARIE: There's the train tracks there.
SAM: Last Spike, right here.
SARAH: Okay, left.
[train crossing bell.]
[train horn.]
SARAH: "Here was driven the Last Spike, "completing the Canadian-Pacific Railway" MEAGHAN: "From ocean to ocean, November 7th" DAVE: "1885.
" Boom! And here we are today.
SARAH & SAM: Roadblock.
MEAGHAN: Who's ready for the main course? JON: In this Roadblock, one team member will have to switch gears and go full throttle, as they tear through this mountainside motorbike course.
Woo-hoo! Teams will drive to the Glacier House Resort and get down and dirty as they put the pedal to the metal, and race around this dirt bike track.
Once racers have completed a lap in one minute and 50 seconds or less Emily will give them their next clue.
SAM: I guess I am.
IRINA: Dave's gonna do it.
MARIE: I'll do it.
MEAGHAN: Okay.
MARIE: Give it to me.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
DAVE: Revelstoke.
We cannot take this race for granted.
Oh, great.
IRINA: Traffic? DAVE: We're losing our lead here.
IRINA: I hate this so much! SARAH: We go east, and then we go left on West Side Road.
I don't know where West Side Road is.
SAM: What? SARAH: I have no idea.
MARIE: I actually feel pretty stoked about riding a dirt bike.
I've got my motorcycle license.
I know a little bit about riding a bike.
That's Glacier House Resort.
MEAGHAN: Marie, you look like you know what you're doing! Bad-ass! MARIE: This is heavy, guys! MARIE: I need to ride around a course within one minute and 50 seconds.
MARIE: Woo-hoo-hoo! MEAGHAN: This is awesome.
Don't break your neck, please! I love you.
MARIE: In 2016, I broke my neck.
I was in the woods, and I fell down a massive hill.
The doctor basically told me that I was lucky enough to be walking, let alone breathing.
MEAGHAN: It's absolutely incredible to see her on The Amazing Race Canada.
It's unbelievable.
ANTHONY & JAMES: Who's ready for the main course? ANTHONY: Okay, yeah, I'm gonna do the challenge.
TRISH: I'll do it.
AMY: You'll do it.
She'll do it.
TRISH: I'll do it.
JOANNE: I'll do it.
LAUREN: Cool.
Sounds like you're gonna be riding a dirt bike, buddy.
JOANNE: Dude, really?! DAVE: There's probably a team that, like, went directly to the right spot 'cause they have the map.
Glacier Lane! IRINA: Yes! DAVE: Woo! IRINA: Got it! DAVE: Aah, babe! Do you think we're first? IRINA: Yes.
DAVE: Here we come, baby.
MEAGHAN: Dave and Irina have arrived.
Dave is doing the challenge.
They are like robotic, perfect human beings.
IRINA: Shut up, you're here! MAN: Slowly with the throttle.
Gentle, gentle.
You got it.
DAVE: I'm good.
MEAGHAN: He's probably gonna be amazing at it.
IRINA: Yeah, I think he's pretty good.
SAM: Glacier Lane, yeah.
SARAH: Let's go.
JOANNE: That's a Chevrolet Traverse.
JAMES: There's some SUVs, I think, there.
AMY: Oh my God.
Four, five, six? TRISH: It's okay.
It's okay.
It's a good chance for us to pick up.
LAUREN: Let's go, Joey! Come on! JOANNE: I've driven a standard like twice in my life, so, I mean, it's gonna take a little while to get it.
SARAH: Let's go, Sam! [motorcycle sputters.]
JAMES: This doesn't look too bad.
We grew up having quads and ATVs, and I drive standard, so it's not too freaky.
MAN: Stop! Stop! JOANNE: Oh my God! Oh, no! Aah! God! God! [inaudible.]
JOANNE: I'm okay! Woo, I kind of want to see that on tape! [laughs.]
ANTHONY: Hey, are Jet and Dave here? SARAH: No.
I honestly think they're gone.
ANTHONY: Are they? I think they're gone.
Yesterday, who was team one? You guys were team one, right? MEAGHAN: Yeah.
ANTHONY: Who was team two? Do you know? MEAGHAN: Sam and Sarah ANTHONY: Team three.
MEAGHAN: And then us Lauren ANTHONY: Three, four MEAGHAN: Moms ANTHONY: Five, six MEAGHAN: You guys, and then ANTHONY: Aarthy and Thinesh.
SARAH: Aisha and Nicki.
ANTHONY: Yeah, and then nine and Sean and Gilles.
MEAGHAN: Nice! ANTHONY: Oh my God! Yeah! IRINA: Jet and Dave are eliminated.
MEAGHAN: That is good news.
LAUREN: That means arguably the most experienced team doing this entire thing just went home on leg one.
MEAGHAN: Which means it is absolutely anyone's race.
ANTHONY: Oh my God.
This is like insane.
MARIE: Bring it on, boys! Bring it on! MARIE: Okay, let's do it.
MEAGHAN: Marie, confidence, baby, confidence! IRINA: Baby, I love you! MEAGHAN: I love you more than she loves him! WOMAN: On your marks Get set [horn sounds.]
MARIE: Woo! MEAGHAN: Yeah, Marie! That's my girl! Be safe! IRINA: That's right, faster than her! MEAGHAN: Okay, you two, be safe! MEAGHAN: Woo! Let's go, Marie! Be careful! MARIE: Woo! WOMAN: Oh my God! MEAGHAN: No, Marie! MEAGHAN: Yeah, Marie! Be safe! Woo! Let's go, Marie! Be careful! WOMAN: Oh my God! MEAGHAN: No, Marie! IRINA: She okay? MARIE: I'm good, I'm good, I'm good.
I'm going back.
I'm going back.
MEAGHAN: Oh, man.
That was too much.
If you want to talk about resilience after breaking her neck, Marie has the most resilience I've ever seen in my life.
MARIE: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! DAVE: Woo! [people cheering.]
[horn sounds.]
IRINA: Yes, first try! WOMAN: Just a reminder, the time is 1:50.
Okay, Dave, your time was 1:51.
You have to try again.
IRINA: Are you kidding me? Oh my God! WOMAN: Marie, your time was 2:02.
MARIE: I would have made it in time, but I got too excited.
IRINA: I was sure Dave got in, but apparently, it wasn't fast enough.
So many emotions, oh my God.
Freaking out.
NICKI: Code black! AISHA: I'll do it.
It's okay.
NICKI: I don't know.
NICKI: Hold this.
AARTHY: Sure, I'll do it.
SEAN: I've got this.
I'm doing this one.
GILLES: Okay.
[train crossing bell.]
THINESH: I'll track down exactly where to go, okay? AARTHY: Don't get lost.
Okay, so we're looking for Glacier House.
AISHA: I believe so, honey boo.
The one thing that you usually have when you're travelling, which we don't have, is a GPS, our phones GILLES: Okay, so Glacier House.
SEAN: It is immense that we have a map.
SEAN: We got it.
GILLES: We got it.
We're gonna catch up.
SEAN: We're gonna catch up.
MAN: Too much gas.
JOANNE: Woo! LAUREN: No, no, no, no, no! We're good! We're so good! WOMAN: Throttle.
Yeah, throttle.
SAM: Oh! WOMAN: So close.
MEAGHAN: Everyone else is still doing a crash kind of course in the back, getting trained.
So it's Dave and Marie again.
I'm kind of freaking out because I want her to be safe.
MEAGHAN: Careful, Marie! MARIE: This is fun.
MEAGHAN: Be careful! [horn sounds.]
IRINA: Go, baby! MEAGHAN: Yeah, Marie! Woo! IRINA: Go, baby, go! DAVE: Woo-hoo! MEAGHAN: Be so careful, be careful here, Marie, be careful.
MEAGHAN: Yeah! You are the queen! Woo! IRINA: Stop, stop! We're in a rush here! We're in a race, lady! Come on! WOMAN: Dave, your time was 1:32.
DAVE: Yes! IRINA: Aah, yeah! WOMAN: Marie, your time was 1:33.
MARIE: Oh my God! MEAGHAN: I can't tell you how proud I am of Marie in this moment.
It's amazing.
You are actually the most resilient person I know.
MEAGHAN: Let's go.
MARIE: Oh man, I'm sweating.
IRINA: Detour.
Plant or paddle.
DAVE: Oh! JON: In this Detour, teams will be introduced to Revelstoke's untamed natural beauty on the water, or in the woods.
It's their call: plant or paddle.
In plant, teams must drive to the BC Interior Forestry Museum and Forest Discovery Centre.
Here, they'll pick up 40 tree seedlings, and using this rope and this chart, they will have to properly space out the seedlings and plant them at the right depth.
Once teams have planted their seedlings to the exacting forestry standards, Glen will give them their next clue.
In paddle, teams will have to navigate these frigid, glacial-fed waters, and collect five flags spread across Williamson Lake using kayaks that are tied together, bow to stern, and stern to bow.
Once they get their strokes in sync, and collect all five flags, Becky will give them their next clue.
IRINA: We're gonna do plant.
DAVE: Let's do plant.
IRINA: Let's go.
MARIE: We're going kayaking.
MEAGHAN: We're going kayaking.
MEAGHAN: You fell off the bike and you did it! MARIE: That was so awesome! SARAH: Meaghan and Marie are on their way out.
They're doing well.
IRINA: You killed it! Babe, you are made for this race.
DAVE: It was like driving IRINA: Made for it! GILLES: Trails and track! SEAN: I drive a motorcycle, so I think I'm gonna be good here.
GILLES: You can do this.
SEAN: I got this.
I got this.
THINESH: That looks like Glacier House.
AARTHY: Oh, I see some bikes.
[horn sounds.]
ANTHONY: Come on, James! Go, go! You've got this! ANTHONY: Faster! JAMES: Aah! LAUREN: He's goin'! ANTHONY: Kick it! Kick it! Go, go, go! Woo! WOMAN: Congratulations.
JAMES: Woo! ANTHONY: We're gonna plant.
LAUREN: Oh, crap.
JAMES: Oh, that feels so good! NICKI: We're looking for Glacier Lane.
AISHA: Um, this is not it.
This is definitely not it.
MAN: Glacier House Resort, you have to go to that side.
AISHA: Other side of the mountain? We need to go back the other way.
NICKI: Oh my goodness.
IRINA: This Detour is my kind of challenge.
Planting trees! La-la-la-la-la! I like that.
DAVE: Let's do this.
IRINA: We got this.
DAVE: We're first.
Oh, look at that.
IRINA: You don't want to be any less than this, and you don't want to be any more than that.
DAVE: Got you.
IRINA: Okay, so that's one, two, three.
Three steps.
IRINA: We have to plant 40 trees.
We need to make sure that the trees are planted at a certain depth, and there can't be any air pockets.
WOMAN: Fail at any of those things, you get a red flag.
DAVE: Okay, so I go here.
IRINA: Yeah.
Steps one, two, three.
DAVE: Irina has mastered the length, and I'm doing the digging.
IRINA: Put the tree in there.
Not too deep.
I think you're killing it, babe.
DAVE: No air pockets, straight.
Okay, good.
One down.
IRINA: Perfect.
One, two, three.
MEAGHAN: Okay, Marie, Williamson Lake.
MARIE: Let's go, boys.
Let's do it! We kayakers, woo-hoo! MEAGHAN: We grew up sprint-canoe kayaking, and I was actually in the Pan-American Games when we were younger, so I feel like we got this.
MEAGHAN: Oh, we're attached.
Our boats are together.
MARIE: Together, like forwards and backwards? OFF-CAMERA: Yeah.
MEAGHAN: Ah, this doesn't make any sense.
MEAGHAN: This isn't normal kayaking.
MEAGHAN: This is bizarre.
MARIE: Meaghan, focus.
MEAGHAN: Okay, paddle right, paddle left.
[smacking sounds.]
MARIE: I just hit her in the face.
MEAGHAN: We're tethered together.
You have to be in perfect sync with one another to make it work.
MARIE: Okay, you got it.
You got it.
[bell sounds.]
MEAGHAN: You're stronger, so I'll back paddle.
That's the second skill.
Twin power! ANTHONY: We got this.
We plant potatoes.
We plant potatoes.
We have a huge garden.
We get to do our part for the environment while racing.
DAVE: Are you kidding me? IRINA: Anthony and James.
JAMES: Good to see you.
IRINA: One, two, three.
Yeah, right here.
How many we have left? DAVE: We have only two more.
ANTHONY: James JAMES: Okay, let's do one row at a time, but we'll mark it.
ANTHONY: We pull out our rope and get to measuring.
ANTHONY: Pull it.
JAMES: It is.
ANTHONY: Pull it.
JAMES: There.
ANTHONY: Pull it, pull it, pull it.
JAMES: You have to pull it.
ANTHONY: No, you pull it.
DAVE: They're using a rope to measure it.
IRINA: Oh, fudge, I didn't think we had a rope.
You have it right here.
DAVE: Oh IRINA: I was mapping out the length with my feet, counting the steps, and then I find out that we have a rope for that.
DAVE: Let's check.
They're not at right distance.
We have to do it all over again.
IRINA: Oh my God! NICKI: Okay, Glacier House.
AISHA: Keep on going, boo.
NICKI: 500 metres on the left.
AISHA: Keep on going, boo.
NICKI: Oh, there's a lot of teams here.
Super, super dope.
WOMAN: You ever driven a standard? AISHA: I have.
WOMAN: All right, then.
It'll totally help.
AISHA: All right, let's do this.
AISHA: I'm Revel-stoked to do dirt biking! [laughter.]
WOMAN: Yeah, that's good.
NICKI: You got it, Aisha! AISHA: Thanks, boo! JOANNE: All-righty-poo.
LAUREN: Joey's going for her first attempt.
[horn sounds.]
JOANNE: Oh, crap! Aah! I can't pick my bike up.
AMY: You got it, Trish! TRISH: [muttering.]
AMY: Oh! TRISH: Ah! Seriously? SEAN: You ever driven one of these? SAM: A couple times.
You? SEAN: I drive a motorcycle to work every day.
GILLES: Sean's been at a race track since he was a little tiny kid.
SEAN: I'm ready to do this.
I'm ready to get it done.
I'm ready to come first.
Everyone's gonna be left in my dust.
WOMAN: Are you guys ready? SEAN: I'm born ready! WOMAN: All right! On your marks, get set Go! [horn sounds.]
GILLES: Oh, no! Come on! It ain't over, Sean! Sean, you gotta do it! SEAN: Let's do this! WOMAN: There you go! SEAN: Let's do it! SARAH: Let's go, Sam! THINESH: You got this, Aarthy! Let's go, let's go, let's go! AARTHY: This is the craziest thing you've ever done.
But you're good.
SEAN: Excuse moi.
SARAH: You've got it, Sam! SAM: Yeah! SEAN: You're kidding me! AARTHY: Aah! GILLES: Yeah, great! SEAN: Paddle, we don't even need to read it! He teaches canoeing! SAM: We're gonna go paddle.
THINESH: You think you'd be okay in a kayak? AARTHY: How hard is it? We've been kayaking.
MEAGHAN: You got it.
You got it.
You got it.
All you, baby.
All you, all you.
[bell sounds.]
That's my girl! Let's go, girl.
Let's go.
Woo! MARIE: We're killin' it! MEAGHAN: We got it.
We have all five colours.
[bell sounds.]
All right, let's go.
Let's go.
MARIE: [inaudible.]
One, two, three.
Good job.
Bring it up.
Bring it up.
Bring it up.
WOMAN: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Congratulations! MARIE: Oh, yes! MEAGHAN: Next clue.
Route info.
All aboard.
Drives yourselves to the Revelstoke Railway Museum.
Marie, good job.
That was really good.
MARIE: Hopefully we're first, but we'll see.
JAMES: A lot of our elders say if you work with the earth, it is really helpful for people's healing because it's living, and that life goes into you.
ANTHONY: If one of these is too close, it's gonna mess up the whole thing.
JAMES: We tend to overthink detail-oriented tasks.
ANTHONY: So we know that it's gonna take forever.
ANTHONY: Let's find another clean line there JAMES: Wait, hold on.
IRINA: Okay, one more.
DAVE: Yeah, last one.
IRINA: We have one tree left, and I think we're very close to getting checked, yeah.
DAVE: Check, please! IRINA: We're feeling very confident right now.
I think it's pretty good.
IRINA: Are you kidding me? DAVE: It must be the depth, or maybe the trees aren't straight.
Oh, the stump is out.
I see it.
IRINA: Ah, okay.
IRINA: We're digging the plants a bit more tight, so that they're not like wiggly.
AARTHY: And one, and one, and one Sorry.
THINESH: You're gonna kill me.
AARTHY: We're still newly dating, so we have some communication issues that we could potentially work on.
AARTHY: Aren't you proud of me? THINESH: I am so proud of you.
Oh, you're smacking me in the face! AARTHY: Sorry.
SARAH: Stroke, stroke.
There you go.
Working now, working now! SAM: Yeah! Adventure man! [laughs.]
GILLES: Okay, so let's just take our time at first, till we get used to this.
There's one right behind us.
SEAN: No, no, no.
Okay, just a minute.
You're pulling me over here.
GILLES: So, I'm a canoeing instructor, but the problem is boats are not supposed to be tied together, going in opposite directions.
SEAN: Thought we'd be in a canoe just paddling down somewhere, where we could nail it.
NICKI: That's it, baby girl.
That's it, baby girl.
You've got this, girl! LAUREN: Come on, Joey, go! Let out the beast! JOANNE: Oh, yippee-Kai-ay! AMY: Easy around the corner.
TRISH: Oh, God Yeah! AISHA: Yeah! Yes! I think I just peed myself.
[laughs.]
TRISH: Want to do planting? Let's go.
AISHA: We're gonna do plant.
NICKI: All right, let's go.
WOMAN: All right, Joanne! JOANNE: Yeah? WOMAN: Your time was two minutes.
JOANNE: Ah! LAUREN: Dammit! You've gotta be going faster than that, Joey.
JOANNE: I'm feeling a little bit tired.
I mean, we got here in fourth, I think, and we're gonna be leaving last, so we're gonna have to catch up, I guess.
LAUREN: She's beating herself up.
If she stays in that frame of mind, we could be here for a really long time.
[horn sounds.]
JOANNE: Oh! Sorry! [horn sounds.]
JOANNE: Oh, no! LAUREN: I can see she's scared.
I know she's scared.
There's nothing I can do to help her.
As the bigger sister, I always want to be able to protect her.
JOANNE: Whoa! Woo! LAUREN: Get it, buddy, go! JOANNE: This is it, baby! [horn sounds.]
LAUREN: Oh please, please, please, please, please! WOMAN: Joanne JOANNE: Yeah? WOMAN: Your time was 1:50.
JOANNE: [screams.]
LAUREN: Yes, buddy, yes! JOANNE: I could not be prouder of my little sister right now.
JOANNE: Aw, don't cry.
[laughs.]
LAUREN: Plants.
Cool.
We're planting trees.
JOANNE: Let's do it! LAUREN: Let's go! JOANNE: I'm very exhausted.
I don't feel like paddling.
[laughs.]
MARIE: What's the next challenge, Meg? MEAGHAN: It's building a train track.
It's right there.
Go straight.
Railway Museum.
We got this, we got this.
I think we're number one right now.
JON: Here, at the Revelstoke Railway Museum, the history of this mountain town is on oversized display.
[train whistles.]
JON: Once here, teams must assemble a very detailed model train set, using all the provided pieces.
Racers will need to use every single piece of the track to create a closed track without any dead-ends.
Once their caboose has completed the circuit [train whistles.]
Colleen the conductor will give them their next clue.
Choo-choo! MEAGHAN: We need to put together a model train track with all these different pieces.
It looks a little bit complicated.
What we don't know is what the train track is actually supposed to look like.
MARIE: Like, these can go like in between certain things.
MEAGHAN: No dead-ends.
That's going nowhere, man.
MARIE: Just relax, okay.
You're gonna break it if you do it like that.
JAMES: We're on our last tree.
ANTHONY: Check! JAMES: This is gonna be the best plot you've ever seen.
JAMES: Go that way again? ANTHONY: This one's not right.
DAVE: Last tree.
IRINA: Perfect.
You're doing amazing, babe.
So proud of you.
DAVE: Are we good now? IRINA: Check, please.
DAVE: Check, please.
She's taking out all the flags.
We're good.
IRINA: Yes.
Yes! MAN: Congratulations.
IRINA: Thank you, yes! DAVE: Thank you, boss.
IRINA: Thank you so much.
Drive yourselves to the Revelstoke Railway Museum.
ANTHONY: Argh! IRINA: Why do they make us run so far? THINESH: Almost there.
[bell sounds.]
AARTHY: All right, last one.
THINESH: So this is gonna be a lot of you turning right now.
Then I can help you.
Oh, whoa! You almost flipped me over.
[bell sounds.]
AARTHY: All right.
Home run.
THINESH: My partner is great.
Her paddling was a little bit subpar but she makes up for it in many other ways.
SARAH: We're doing so great.
[bell sounds.]
SARAH: We've got five flags! Okay, so we are headed to Revelstoke Railway Museum.
GILLES: Are Olympians still way ahead of us? SEAN: They're gone.
SEAN: Let's get outta here.
[bell sounds.]
SEAN: You got it? WOMAN: Congratulations.
GILLES: Thank you so much.
Revelstoke Train Museum Uh LAUREN: We are going to plant some trees.
JOANNE: Okay, let's crush it.
LAUREN: Coming up to highway 23.
JOANNE: Okay.
LAUREN: So we're looking for the BC Interior Forestry Museum.
This is Highway 23 north, so I don't know JOANNE: It's a fence.
This is a dead-end.
So what do we do? LAUREN: We've gotta go back.
It's this way.
It has to be.
Like JOANNE: Okay.
AMY: Follow the marked path near the parking lot entrance gate to the planting area.
NICKI: Yes, baby! AISHA: All right.
ANTHONY: Trish and Amy just arrived.
Aisha and Nicki came too.
AISHA: Let's get these trees in the ground.
Give it a bit more space.
NICKI: Beautiful.
Girl! Yeah! AISHA: I have a sustainable food company that teaches people how to live off the land.
Planting these trees feels like I'm giving back to nature.
AISHA: Hi, beautiful guy.
You're gonna be so big and beautiful.
I'll come back and visit you.
TRISH: I can't even keep a house plant alive.
AMY: Okay, can you stick your thing in so I can put this up against it? ANTHONY: We're just fixing some of the mistakes that we made.
A red flag means the tree was not planted correctly.
JAMES: Okay, I did two.
How many left? JAMES: Should be one more.
Check! ANTHONY: Yes.
All right.
Good job, babe.
Yeah, Brenda.
ANTHONY: We've got one more, one more, one more.
ANTHONY: Thank you.
Thank you woo! Use all the pieces in a model train set.
JAMES: Oh, you're so good at that.
ANTHONY: I was a train nerd when I was a kid.
[train crossing bell.]
DAVE: Railway museum.
Boom.
IRINA: Go, go, go, go, go! MEAGHAN: Marie, we're good.
We're not taking a penalty.
We're doing great.
Dave and Irina just showed up, and we're panicking a little bit.
DAVE: There's a lot of pieces.
IRINA: Trial and error.
SARAH: Let's go, let's go.
So all of these need to have two attached.
MARIE: Meaghan, look at me.
THINESH: Okay, we've gotta form some sort of train track.
It's gonna be a right at the stop sign, babe.
Okay, let's go, let's go, let's go.
GILLES: Park right here.
SEAN: Let's get through this.
Come on! AARTHY: Gilles and Sean just got to the railway museum, so just seconds after us.
No big deal.
GILLES: Now, see, look at that.
They have to fit good, or else the train will derail on it.
SEAN: Perfect.
SEAN: Growing up, we built a lot of car tracks.
It's not trains, but I think it's pretty close.
SEAN: I think we can even make this one shorter a bit, just in case, right? GILLES: Just lay the tracks down first.
MEAGHAN: Everyone's getting here.
We were here super early.
We had a huge head-start.
MARIE: Time is of the essence, and this could be a game-changer.
MEAGHAN: Marie, I'm just saying that Marie MARIE: Frustrated because there's no game plan.
There's no strategizing.
I'm considering a penalty because I'm desperate.
MEAGHAN: We just don't have a strategy right now.
IRINA: Maybe it should do a circle in the middle.
DAVE: That's what it is, babe.
It's not magic.
IRINA: Okay, babe.
You got this.
DAVE: Close race right now.
AARTHY: We've been back of the pack every single Detour, Roadblock.
It would be great to leave here first.
THINESH: It's reminding me of the little trains that I had when I was a kid.
Playing with train sets when I was younger is gonna help me because I can visualize the end product while I'm making it.
AARTHY: Watching Thinesh construct this train, he's really analytical, and he's really logical.
Very impressed.
THINESH: Good to go.
AARTHY: Can we get a check? AARTHY: It has to do one smooth loop.
THINESH: So it does the outer loop first, then loop around the whole track.
AARTHY: Come on, little train.
IRINA: So we need to get this done.
DAVE: All right.
IRINA: Okay, I think we're good.
We got it, we got it, we got it.
AARTHY: Choo-choo! How much how much longer? My heart can't take this.
THINESH: Should be good.
AARTHY: It's so close, baby.
[train whistle.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
THINESH: Thank you! [train whistle.]
DAVE: Thank you.
IRINA: Thank you so much.
DAVE: Thank you so much.
AARTHY: Drive yourselves to Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
DAVE: Good stuff! IRINA: Mountain Resort JON: Teams must now drive to the Revelstoke Mountain Resort, home to over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain and North America's longest ski run.
Here, they'll grab a gondola and ascend Mount Mackenzie where they'll have to search for Jon on foot.
Today, Canada's longest vertical summit will serve as the Pitstop for the second leg of the race.
The last team to check in here may be eliminated.
AARTHY: Oh my God! THINESH: Let's go, let's go! AARTHY: We're first! THINESH: Soon as we get out, you take a left, okay, babe? AARTHY: I knew that was your challenge! This is why I bring him along.
DAVE: It's a race to the Pitstop right now.
The beautiful mountain, look at that.
IRINA: Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
THINESH: I mean we started this leg out at like seventh position, and I mean, we believe we're in first.
AARTHY: Anything can happen.
Don't get too cocky.
THINESH: I just want to hear the confirmation from Jon, and then I'll be stoked.
DAVE: Let's be first.
Aah! DAVE: Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
IRINA: Yes, that's the one.
DAVE: It's a race to the Pitstop right now.
Let's sprint like our life depends on it.
IRINA: Okay, I'm gonna sprint.
THINESH: The Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
AARTHY: This is it.
THINESH: Yeah, this is it.
AARTHY: Get us up there quickly! We're gonna go see Jon! He's somewhere on top of a mountain! That's a big mountain.
IRINA: It's amazing.
It's beautiful.
But right now, I can't think about anything else but finding Jon.
AARTHY: Holy moly, they make this so hard.
I can't run.
Babe DAVE: You want me to grab your bag or are you good for now? IRINA: I'm good for now.
DAVE: Let's go.
THINESH: Let's go.
AARTHY: I can't.
I [panting.]
DAVE: Don't stop, baby.
Push through.
They can't beat us on foot, okay? THINESH: We're right there, baby.
We got it.
AARTHY: Why are you so far? JON: Come on, Aarthy! Yes! Almost there.
Yes! MAN: Welcome to Mount Mackenzie here in Revelstoke, British Columbia.
THINESH: Thank you.
DAVE: It's beautiful.
JON: Aarthy and Thinesh, Dave and Irina, you're teams number one and two.
THINESH: Woo! Oh my God, yes, woo! JON: Aarthy and Thinesh, congratulations, you two.
As the winners of this leg of the race, you two have won a trip for two to Madrid, Spain.
THINESH: Oh my God! AARTHY: Oh my God! We've never been to Spain.
THINESH: I've wanted to go to Spain.
IRINA: It's okay.
We've been to Spain already.
DAVE: [laughs.]
IRINA: It's fine.
I don't care about that gift.
AARTHY: Wow! THINESH: I love you so much.
THINESH: Dave and Irina have been pretty fierce competition in this race, so far, so it feels amazing to beat them.
Booya! AARTHY: Oh! JON: And that's not all.
There's more.
THINESH: What? JON: You have also won THINESH: Oh my God! JON: A coveted Express Pass.
THINESH: Oh my God! Yes! Yes! Yes! We won it, yes! AARTHY: Is that real? JON: I'll give that to you.
AARTHY: Is that real? THINESH: This is big.
This is a game-changer.
JON: That is yours to use before the end of the seventh leg of the race.
LAUREN: I'm gonna plant some trees and crush it with you, and we're gonna keep rolling, right, buddy? JOANNE: Yeah, we're gonna plant some trees, buddy.
LAUREN: I see someone in a hardhat digging.
AMY: Is it sticking out too much, though? Look.
TRISH: Okay, well, then take it out so I can do it again.
LAUREN: Do we want to measure some plots and then just plant? JOANNE: Yeah.
TRISH: We see Lauren and Joanne, and we couldn't be happier.
We're almost done, and they're just starting.
AISHA: This is pretty deep.
Let's try this.
NICKI: Right now there's three teams here.
LAUREN: We didn't think we were gonna catch up to any teams here.
Teamwork makes the dream work.
JOANNE: Teamwork makes it work.
Ooh, mushrooms.
LAUREN: Don't eat 'em.
JOANNE: Just trying to have a little fun.
AMY: Let's measure this one more time.
Ask for a check.
TRISH: Check! [bell sounds.]
AMY: [gasps.]
Thank you, yes! JOANNE: Trish and Amy just got it, so we can get it.
NICKI: One! We have one.
Last one, baby! BOTH: Check! [bell sounds.]
NICKI: Thank you.
AISHA: Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Oh my goodness.
AISHA: Good job.
Good job.
Good job.
Good job! Aah! JOANNE: This is definitely harder than we expected.
LAUREN: Okay, tree me.
JOANNE: Here, here, here, here.
[trains whistle.]
MARIE: You utilize those differently, Meaghan.
We're just doing it.
Whatever we're doing is not working.
We need help.
We need help.
MEAGHAN: Sam and Sarah, how are you guys doing? Do you have the thing already SARAH: Like the circle? MEAGHAN: Can I come? SARAH: Come see the circle.
MARIE: I'm gonna write it down, guys.
MEAGHAN: Marie, come on.
SARAH: We've seen how much working together can help in bringing you forward along the race.
MARIE: We owe them major time.
MEAGHAN: We write down exactly what the track looks like.
We come back, and finally, we are on the right track.
MARIE: Bring it down, Meaghan.
MEAGHAN: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
GILLES: Now, you need to go with your fingers like this with all the connections.
Okay, I think we're ready.
SEAN: I don't want to be last.
GILLES: Come on, little engine.
SEAN: Switch.
Switch.
[train sounds.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
GILLES: Pitstop.
SEAN: Let's go, come on.
GILLES: Go, go, go, go.
SEAN: Let's do it! ANTHONY: Someone's leaving.
SEAN: Let's get this done! JAMES: Anthony's a beast at putting stuff together.
ANTHONY: I literally spent so much time at hobby stores with my grandfather building trains.
ANTHONY: Let's connect these two together there.
SARAH: Okay.
Check, please! [train whistle.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
SARAH: Last team to check in may be eliminated.
Let's go, let's get Jon.
Jon, Jon! Good job, ladies.
You got it.
MEAGHAN: Can we get a check? Go slow.
Good job.
Good job.
Yeah.
[train whistle.]
MARIE: Thank you so much.
This way, Meg! This way! This way! MARIE: Just so frustrating.
We were first, just kept messing it up.
Absolutely brutal.
SAM: Let's go looking for Jon.
When you travel thousands of kilometres, running a few hundred metres is nothing.
Come on! Up there! JON: 'Atta boy, Gilles! Come on, Sean! SEAN: Let's go! JON: Gilles, Sean, you're team number three.
GILLES: Ho-ho-ho-oh! SEAN: We went from last to third.
You've still got it! SARAH: We're going like into the clouds.
It's crazy.
You didn't want to go higher, Jon? JON: Sarah and Sam, you're team number four.
SAM: Yes! SARA: Woo! MEAGHAN: Harder than it looks! JON: Meaghan, Marie, you're team number five.
MEAGHAN: Ah! [laughs.]
MARIE: What a relief.
We are happy again.
BOTH: [kiss sound.]
ANTHONY: Ah.
.
ah Don't move anything.
Perfect.
Look, we've got one side.
JAMES: Okay.
TRISH: Some of these don't fit.
AMY: You've gotta push them harder.
Full steam ahead.
NICKI: The straight pieces are definitely gonna be on these sides here, and then the curve would have to go around these corners.
Like on the corner AISHA: I got it, boo.
That's what I'm doing, boo.
That's what I'm doing! NICKI: Choo-choo! JOANNE: Six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13.
LAUREN: I don't know if we can get 13 in here, Joey.
JOANNE: We have to, Lauren.
JOANNE: There's no time to spare.
We need to nail this.
JOANNE: Let go, let go.
Let go of the string.
Right here.
LAUREN: Look right behind you.
We just measured out that whole space.
And there's one right here.
JOANNE: Yeah, okay.
LAUREN: Listen to Can you listen? JOANNE: I'm listening, Lauren.
LAUREN: This could be the end of our race.
I just know every minute that we're here, we are getting further and further away from the rest of the teams.
JOANNE: I'm not ditching this, Lauren.
AMY: If we make two circles, we can switch the directions, as long as it's all connected.
NICKI: High urgency.
AISHA: High urgency.
NICKI: We could get eliminated.
AISHA: What? NICKI: We could get eliminated, yeah.
AISHA: Get eliminated? That is the worst thing that could happen right now, and that cannot happen.
ANTHONY: Now we need to get the train all the way around.
So this is what we're gonna do.
JAMES: Can you come check our work, please? JAMES: Let's not derail the train.
Ah [train whistle.]
ANTHONY & JAMES: Choo-choo! JAMES: Oh, thank you! JAMES: Drive yourselves to the Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
ANTHONY & JAMES: Yes! AMY: This is not gonna work.
JOANNE: Oh, last one.
I hope this is it.
I hope we can get this.
I really hope we can get this.
LAUREN: We'll see.
All right, check! JOANNE: Check, please! [bell sounds.]
LAUREN: Awesome.
Drive yourselves to the Revelstoke Railway Museum.
This is our chance.
I really hope there are some teams there.
JOANNE: It's anybody's race, man.
JAMES: Oh, my legs.
ANTHONY: Jonny! Why are you so far? Ah! JON: Anthony, James Team number six.
How does that make you feel? JAMES: Um ANTHONY: Not good.
[laughs.]
JAMES: Yeah.
A little humbled.
AMY: Do you want to give it a try? TRISH: Let's turn it on and find out.
AMY: All right.
Check, please.
So we're going around the loop like butter.
TRISH: Not very fast.
[train whistle.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
TRISH: Thank you so much.
NICKI: [sighs.]
AMY: Look for Jon at your next Pitstop! Okay, let's go! Let's go, let's go! NICKI: Trish and Amy just got their next clue.
Right now probably we're probably the only team in here.
AISHA: Something is not right.
One side of the circle is good.
The other side of the circle is not.
NICKI: Shoot, we should just take it apart.
AISHA: Let's try this again.
JOANNE: Ah, a red light! Is that the moms? That's the moms.
Yeah, moms are leaving.
TRISH: There's the sisters right there, Amy.
AMY: Are they behind us? TRISH: The sisters were right there.
AMY: Oh my gosh, we're ahead? Okay, okay.
LAUREN: Let's go get some work done, buddy.
JOANNE: Let's go, bud.
LAUREN: One team is still here.
[train crossing bell.]
LAUREN: So it should be a continuous track.
There's no dead-ends.
JOANNE: Yeah.
LAUREN: Do you have lots of curves? JOANNE: Yeah.
LAUREN: Can you give me some? AISHA: Jo and Lauren just arrived.
The pressure turns all the way up.
We've gotta complete this challenge, but the time is ticking.
NICKI: So this is meeting up with this one? AISHA: This guy.
NICKI: Okay, I'm wondering if that will fit.
Okay, got it.
AMY: This is the last part.
Look for Jon.
Look for a flag.
TRISH: It's incredible.
AMY: Beautiful.
Oh man.
JON: Nice work! Yeah, Trish! Yeah, Amy! Come on! TRISH: Yay! JON: Trish, Amy, you're team number seven.
TRISH & AMY: Woo! Oh! TRISH: You see it, and you watch previous seasons, and you think "Oh, that looks tough, but I could do that.
" And then you get out there and you're like, "How do they do this?!" AISHA: Technically, I think I need one more, and then just add these on the edges NICKI: Definitely feeling the pressure at this point.
AISHA: All right JOANNE: It keeps busting.
LAUREN: Here, go, go, quick.
JOANNE: Amazing.
LAUREN: It goes straight, then curved.
AISHA: Okay.
You wanna try it? We'll try that.
Check.
Come on, little baby.
NICKI: We need it to go in.
Yeah, it's going in.
Out [train whistle.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
AISHA: Thank you very much.
JOANNE: Check, please.
AISHA: Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
NICKI: Okay.
Let's just pray.
AISHA: Woo! JOANNE: Come on, buster.
[train whistle.]
CONDUCTOR: Congratulations.
LAUREN: Thanks so much.
Let's go find Jon, buddy! JOANNE: Let's go find Jon, see where we are.
LAUREN: We are definitely in last place.
It's gonna be up a mountain.
It's gonna have a gondola.
Like, if you can eyeball it anywhere, go for it.
AISHA: It's not like, I don't even think it's on here.
NICKI: There wasn't an address for it, right? AISHA: We can stop in, just to be sure.
NICKI: Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
WOMAN: You have to go back on the main road.
NICKI: And go east? AISHA: I don't know.
That's the part.
WOMAN: And then it's gonna be on your right.
AISHA: And there is a huge mountain to the left of us.
NICKI: Hoo! We can do this.
I don't know.
This seems wrong.
I feel like we're leaving Revelstoke.
AISHA: She showed me on a map.
I don't even know.
LAUREN: We are definitely in last place.
Aisha and Nicki did not leave too far ahead of us.
AISHA: And there is a huge mountain to the left of us.
When we have doubts, we stop and ask questions.
AISHA: Can I ask you a question? Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
WOMAN: It's kind of here.
NICKI & AISHA: We were going this way? WOMAN: You wanna go back that way.
AISHA: Great! Of course! Can you show us where it is on the map? NICKI: Of course we're going the wrong way.
Let's get on the gondola and let's find Jon.
LAUREN: We need to get to the gondola, so JOANNE: Okay.
NICKI: There's a gondola up there.
Run like hell and hope for the best.
JOANNE: Do we have to go up the ski hill? LAUREN: I'm gonna guess so.
NICKI: I think I see them, Aisha.
AISHA: I'm dying right now.
NICKI: I know, I know.
JOANNE: Come on, dude! Come on.
LAUREN: I can't [panting.]
NICKI: Deep breath.
Come on.
Almost there.
JOANNE: Oh! Oh JON: Lauren and Joanne You are team number eight.
LAUREN: Joey JOANNE: We're not Oh my God, we're not last! Ah-ha! Ah! Oh my God! JOANNE: Team eight is not team nine! We're still here! JOANNE: I went from like zero to 50,000 right now.
I feel so good.
I love you.
Thank you.
JON: Never count yourselves out on this race.
You never know what's gonna happen out there.
JOANNE: Yeah.
LAUREN: You can't assume anything.
In seconds, this thing can completely turn on its head.
AISHA: Take my hand.
[panting.]
JON: Nicki, Aisha You are the last team to arrive.
I am sorry to tell you, but you've been eliminated from the race.
NICKI: Just having the opportunity to do this with my best friend Even though we didn't make it as far as we wanted to, we have some good stories.
Some great stories.
AISHA: We can share those memories together for a lifetime.
JON: I wish you the best of luck.
Take care, you two.
AISHA: Thanks.
AISHA: I would not have chosen another person to be beside me.
I love you, boo.
NICKI: I love you too, you bum-head.
[laughter.]
JON: Next time on The Amazing Race Canada, teams race to Edmonton, Alberta.
ANTHONY & JAMES: Woo! ANTHONY: We get to go home! JON: where a Detour elevates racer rivalries JOANNE: Aah! TRISH: We have to beat these other teams! CONTESTANT: Hockey! JON: and forces other teams to change their tune.
GILLES: My mother, my father JOANNE: Oh! JON: A brand-new element of the race, a double one-way, blindsides two teams.
MEAGHAN: Let the games begin.
JON: For more information on the racers, head to ctv.
