Masterchef (2010) s07e04 Episode Script
A MasterChef Wedding
Previously on MasterChef.
You are going to cook a humble potato for Wolfgang Puck.
The first mystery box challenge of the season If you give me that in a restaurant, I would send it back.
meant an early exit for Cassie Please, remove your apron.
and an epic Gordon Ramsey dish Everybody got it? brought Bill's MasterChef journey Oh my God.
to an end.
Tonight, wedding bells are ringing.
Nick Nappi is getting married.
Make this day a day to remember.
Yes, Chef! The top 18 face the biggest day Come on! - of their lives.
- Oh, my gosh.
But the commitment gives some home cooks Move! Move! cold feet.
- Nathan! - Nathan, stop! And the celebration may end Smell that! before it begins.
It's raw.
We're about to screw the wedding.
I'm done.
- Yeah! - Whew! Please come down and join us at the front.
Being in the top 18 home cooks in America makes me feel amazing.
Growing up homeschooled in a Pastor's home, this is not anything I could have ever imagined.
Welcome back, everyone.
How are you feeling? Good! Great! Are you all ready to face your next challenge? Yes! Good.
Here to introduce that challenge is somebody who not so long ago stood right where all of you are standing now.
Please welcome Nick Nappi.
Oh my God! Welcome back.
Nick Nappi, I've been a fan of him since I saw him for the first time on season six.
He's super inspiring, an amazing chef.
And I love his style.
- Good to see you, bud.
- Thank you.
- How've you been? - I've been great.
I jumped directly into my dream.
I'm the executive chef at a restaurant in San Diego.
- So you've gone from one of them - Yeah.
- to an executive chef.
- Absolutely.
We've also heard that there's been another significant development going on in your life.
Yeah.
I'd like to introduce you to someone very special to me.
My fiancée, Jenelle.
Aw! Hi! How are you, my darling? Welcome.
Good to see you.
Really good news.
When's the wedding? Well, uh, the wedding is It's tomorrow.
And guess who's doing the food? We are! We can tell that this competition is totally different than anything that we have ever seen.
The stakes are higher.
It's crazy.
A wedding? We just started! That's right.
For your first big team challenge, you'll be creating an incredible wedding feast.
Nick and Jenelle have some pretty firm ideas on the star proteins of their wedding dishes.
Let's start with the appetizer.
Well, seeing as though we do live in San Diego, we have some of the best seafood in the world, and we could not think of a better choice for our appetizer than scallops.
Oh, my gosh.
An expensive, elegant protein, but you overcook those scallops, and they wind up a rubbery mess.
Nick, tell us what you'd like for the main course.
We've picked my personal favorite protein, an incredible rack of lamb.
Again, another luxurious, delicious protein but really seriously tricky to cook.
It must be served a perfect medium rare.
Absolutely.
So tomorrow, you'll be divided into two teams.
Nathan and Terry, you two had the best two dishes in our previous challenge.
You will become team captains.
My concerns going into this challenge are that people aren't going to listen to me.
I've never been accepted a lot throughout childhood, and I just want to prove to everyone I have what it takes.
Tomorrow is a big one.
- Good night.
- Good night, Chef.
Good night, Chef.
I am fired up to be team captain.
I'm used to being a leader.
I like to jump in there.
Listen, I'm a handyman from Long Island, and I got a lot of tools up my sleeve.
Our home cooks will now travel 20 miles from the MasterChef kitchen to Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, California to face their toughest challenge yet.
Whew! Let's go guys.
Welcome.
This setting is absolutely gorgeous.
There's hills and mountains, and everything's so pretty and green and lush.
It's a perfect setting for a wedding.
Welcome to your first ever MasterChef team challenge.
Beautiful! Nathan and Terry, are you ready to pick your teams? Yes, Chef! Have you thought about it? Yes, Chef.
Tough, because today you're not picking them.
Both of you, please come and stand here.
Nathan, you're the blue team.
Terry, you're the red team.
Now, here's how it's going to work.
I want you to stand on this side if you want to join Nathan's team.
If you want to be on Terry's team, I want you to jump on this side.
Nathan is definitely a wild card.
He's a 20 year old kid, and I'm leery of his leadership qualities.
On my count I think Terry is going to be a terrific captain.
He's got a very strong voice.
He's got experience.
He's been around a while.
He knows what he's doing.
One, two, three, move! Wow! Nathan, we have five with you.
Ouch! That's six versus 12.
There's five people on my side, and all I'm thinking is, "Oh my gosh.
This is just like getting picked for dodge ball in middle school," because no one wanted me then, and it definitely looks like nobody wants me now.
This is a wedding.
This challenge will be cooked by two even teams of nine.
Terry, listen very carefully.
You're gonna have to eject team members that you do not want and donate them back to Nathan's team so we end up with two even teams of nine.
This is gonna be an easy decision because some of my fellow cooks have strong personalities and very opinionated, and there could be problems.
The first person, unfortunately, I have to send D'Andre over.
Wow.
D'Andre.
Wow.
My next person would be Alejandro, even though I love him.
Alejandro.
Let's go back over.
Terry, next.
Unfortunately, I'm going to send Shaun over to the other team.
Yeah.
Shaun is a strong contender.
Shaun is an amazing home cook.
I would like Shaun on my team, but I also know that Shaun is a serious type A personality.
We are even.
Excited? Yes! Now, we will get feedback from all of the wedding guests today about your dishes, but ultimately the decision on which team wins will come down to Gordon and I.
There's one more thing you should all know.
After this challenge, for the first time in MasterChef history, there will be no pressure test.
Instead, some members of the losing team will face immediate elimination.
Oh, my God.
That means no redemption, no comeback if this challenge doesn't go your way.
You have just two hours to cater for this entire, very special wedding.
Are you all ready? Yes, Chef! Your time starts now.
Go, go, go, go! Both teams must now quickly decide how they'll prepare their scallop appetizer and rack of lamb entrée Let's go blue! for Nick and Jenelle's 150 wedding guests.
Okay, guys.
Listen.
We'll do a nice pan seared scallop.
We're doing to do the sauce to go with the seared scallop.
I was thinking of beurre blanc.
What about like a citrus in with it? Everybody like orange or do you guys want to go with the lemon? - I prefer a lemon.
- Lemon it is.
I know what being the team captain entails.
I'm open to suggestions and everybody's input.
Our lamb, sear it quickly in the pan.
Then we're going to put it on polenta.
What about an heirloom tomato gastrique with the polenta? That would be great.
I know that if we work together as a team, we can create something amazing.
For today's appetizer service, the red team has democratically decided to make pan seared scallops with asparagus and a lemon beurre blanc followed by a roasted lamb entrée with polenta and a tomato gastrique.
A pan seared scallop.
The people who are going to pan sear the scallops - Let's talk about the dish first.
- Yeah, the dish first.
Please, guys.
Let's do a blood orange vinaigrette with the scallops.
I say No, guys.
Please stop.
Nathan, don't yell at us.
Talk at us like we're adults.
I'm trying to talk, and you're talking over me, Shaun.
No, we're not.
I know what I'm doing.
Just be quiet.
I like the idea of the blood orange vinaigrette.
D'Andre, you're super in on some blood oranges.
Do you want to wear this? Nathan, we're a team.
We're a team.
- We're a team.
- Please stop, okay? I don't think Nathan's ever had a leadership role before, and I don't think he knows how to speak to people in a situation like this.
He's definitely taking the dictatorship role.
For the entrée, we're doing a seared lamb and pistachio gremolata.
All right, ready? An already fragmented blue team plans to serve an appetizer of pan roasted scallops, charred Romanesco, and a blood orange vinaigrette, followed by a pan seared lamb entrée with mushroom pea orzo and a pistachio gremolata.
Right, fascinating team selection there.
I mean, I didn't have any idea they'd all go towards Terry's team, did you? I mean, I had a little bit of an inkling.
I mean, Terry's got more experience.
He's older.
Terry, I need you to check out this consistency before I bottle.
It's fine, it's fine.
I trust you, Tanorria.
Nathan needs to step up and absolutely run his team or will his team run him? I mean, I think he will.
He grew up in a church community.
He knows how to be one of the team.
He needs to be unafraid to speak his mind.
Ooh, those are very seasoned ugh.
He may be the youngest, but he knows he has a lot to prove.
I think we're decidedly going to have two very different team dynamics here today.
- I'll tell you that much.
- Yeah.
Out in the wedding area, the guests have arrived and are taking their seats for the start of the ceremony.
Guys, if you need anything, just shout it out! Call me, I'll get it for you.
Today is all about timing and precision.
Chef Ramsey wants all of our appetizers cooked and served before the start of the speeches.
Make sure they're all uniform, right? And slice them on a bias, like this.
And that's at the reception in about 60 minutes.
The last thing I want to do is throw off the schedule for Nick and Jenelle's special day.
Delicious.
While the harmonious red team continues to prep their appetizers Hey! Listen to me, guys! I need that sauce! I'm straining it right now! I need it now! The blue team is struggling to tolerate Captain Nathan's leadership style.
Quiet! Everybody calm.
Everybody calm.
Quiet! Move, move, move! This is insane.
Nathan! What are we doing, blue team? I have no idea.
Hey, hey, hey.
What's she doing there? Oh my gosh.
Stop, stop, stop, stop.
Watch out! Hey guys.
Hey, blue team, gather around.
What? Why are we cooking all these scallops now? They haven't even sat down yet.
What were you planning to do with these? We were going to put them in the warmer.
- In the warmer? - I know.
Big mistake.
You can't cook them now.
Nick's not even married yet.
We're about to screw the wedding.
- Come on, guys.
- Eric: Let's go, red.
While the home cooks race to cater the wedding, a former MasterChef contestant, Nick Nappi Blue team! We're about to screw the wedding.
Chef Ramsey has discovered a major problem with the blue team's scallop appetizer.
You can't cook them now.
Nick's not even married yet.
- Yes, Chef.
- Regroup, guys.
I got this.
I got this.
Shaun, no! Listen! Listen! We're gonna listen to Shaun for a minute, okay? Okay.
Everybody just relax, and we're going to win this damn competition.
Ah, pull this off, put it back there in the bowl.
I need to step up and take the lead and try to pull us out of this hole.
We're gonna get the Romanesco done first and then we'll go from there.
- And put it on a sheet here.
- Yeah.
If I leave this in the hands of Nathan, we're not going to get a single dish out of the kitchen.
Shaun, I need you on scallops.
I need nine plates of scallops.
We can't start the scallops until the last minute, Nathan.
- Yeah, but I need them fast.
- I know.
I know Shaun thinks he's all hot bananas and stuff, but I just really need him to stop and listen to me.
And it doesn't look like it's happening.
Where's that vinaigrette? Shaun! I need you to stop.
Nathan, watch out.
Come here.
Look at me.
He, right now knows more what's going on.
- Listen, trust me.
- Blue team! - Nathan.
- Yes, Chef! He's trying to talk to me! You can't talk to me! Speed up in there a little bit.
As the power struggle between Nathan and Shaun threatens to completely derail the blue team This wind is going to be a problem.
Captain Terry and the red team are waging their own battle Watch that wind! Watch that wind! against Mother Nature.
Is there a flame on this? No, it's not.
The flame is out.
The wind is gushing everywhere, and we're running into problems with the burners going out.
Right away I'm a little bit nervous that we're not gonna be able to get these plates out on time.
Hopefully, that'll block it back there.
As Nick and Jenelle exchange their marriage vows Do you choose Nick to be your husband? Oh, hell yes, I do.
You may now kiss the bride.
Shaun, do not put them on the plate, Shaun! Nathan, they got to go on You're messing it up, though! There's little love on the blue team as the power struggle between Captain Nathan and Shaun comes to a head.
Shaun, move.
Nathan! Calm down! I need a new plate! He's losing his mind, man.
Red team, blue team.
- Yes, Chef! - Yes, Chef.
Our guests are arriving.
All right, guys.
Here we go.
Shaun, I need those scallops now! - Whoa! - Oh my gosh! - Blue team's a disaster.
- Uh-oh, what's going on? Hurry! Watch your back! It's hot! Our guests are arriving now as we speak, and the blue team don't know their ass from their (bleep) elbow.
Let's go! Scallops now! I'm going to get changed, put my jacket on.
I'm really nervous.
Go for it.
These are cold as ice! While the home cooks rush to finish their prep before appetizer service begins Out in the reception area the newlyweds have arrived to take their seats.
And some familiar faces among the guests are eager for service to begin.
Just a year ago, I was in this very same position.
I know that the food is going to be scrumptious.
It better be.
Let's go, Terry! The seven top's ready, Chef! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
With service underway, the red team is off to a great start.
Let's go! Keep it coming! Keep it coming! I'm definitely proud of these plates that we're sending out to these guests.
These scallops look beautiful.
They're cooked perfectly.
The asparagus are stacked up nice.
The beurre blanc tastes amazing.
This red team is something to look out for.
I need 27 scallops, guys in three minutes! - Blue team! - Yes, Chef! I need the first table, please.
What? You, young man, come here! - Yes, Chef! - You are expediting! - Yes, Chef! - This is your team! - You're captain of the ship! - Yes, Chef! So far, we've served nothing because you're running around like a (bleep) show.
What's coming up next? Seventh up and that needs vinaigrette.
That vinaigrette looks like crap, guys.
Come on! Give it here.
Give it here.
Seriously? Oh my gosh! Who made that vinaigrette? Barbara! Barbara made the vinaigrette, and it's really, really bad.
I wouldn't put that in my pot wash.
It looks like something out of a (bleep) sewer.
Can we get some seasoning in there, some herbs in there? - Yes, Chef.
- Hurry, now! While the blue team races to fix their vinaigrette and start serving appetizers to the guests Let's go, y'all.
The red team is breezing through appetizer service Beautiful! despite the blustery conditions.
I got eight plates here! I got eight plates here! Start working on this one with the greens, please, Diana.
It's gonna blow away.
It's blowing away.
Right now, we are banging these plates out to these guests, but the wind is crazy.
Yo, watch the paper towels so they don't (bleep) blow on to the stove.
Too close to the fire.
We're rocking and rolling right now.
Scallop it up.
Got it! We got you, we got you.
Oh no! Ugh! Red team! Come on! We're rocking and rolling right now.
Scallop it up! Got it.
We got you, we got you.
Ugh! Red team, come on! This is a complete disaster.
There's plates smashed on the floor.
There's food everywhere.
It looks like a tornado just came through our kitchen.
Okay.
No, no.
Hey, get it off.
It flew over, then all my plates just came off the table.
I've got it.
I've got it.
Stupid cloths.
Terry, this is the real world, yeah? - Yes, Chef.
- We'll adapt, okay? As the team captain, you got to roll with the punches.
Pick it back up, get back in the trenches and keep fighting.
Okay, how long on scallops? They're coming, brother! Let's go! Push them out! Bang them out as fast as we can.
While the red team works to rebound from their devastating blow Nathan, send the scallops! Service 14.
the blue team is failing to keep up with the pace of service.
The red team have served over 40 guests.
- You've served 15.
- Yes, Chef.
- Chef, I have a question.
- Oh, no, (bleep) your question right now.
I've got a question.
What is going on? We're hustling.
We're trying our best.
Hustling? Look at the dining room out there.
You're not (bleep) hustling.
There's nothing coming out.
Young man, get your team organized.
Let's go.
Everyone on scallops and Romanesco.
The speeches are about to start in ten minutes, and the blue team is in serious trouble right now.
If we don't bring it up fast, we're definitely going to be facing elimination.
Scallops are coming.
Hurry! Out in the reception area, Christina checks in with the bride and groom who are tasting both team's appetizers and giving feedback.
So, the red team, prepared seared scallops with a sauvignon beurre blanc pencil asparagus and a garden salad.
- Beautiful.
- The scallops have a great color.
They kept their shape.
The sauce here on the red was super elegant.
Yeah.
It's seasoned nicely.
It's got a great sear.
The asparagus is delicious.
Very nice scallops, guys.
And the blue team prepared seared scallops with a roasted Romanesco cauliflower and a blood orange vinaigrette.
The sear is nice.
It's a little bit under seasoned.
I mean, just a little touch of salt would be nice.
Okay.
Like he said, it could use definitely more seasoning, a little bland.
I wasn't sure about the sweet too much.
I think that the red team's dish has a little bit more of who we are.
They did it right.
Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Red team! Blue team! Four minutes remaining! Come on! With time running out, both teams of home cooks are racing to complete their orders for appetizer service.
Put asparagus on the plate because we got to get it out! After the wind blew the plates off the table, we're able to regroup.
Keep it going! Let's go! They look delicious, and we really got a chance to make this happen.
Table four service! I had the red team's scallops.
Had the right color, had the right seasoning.
They were very good.
All right, guys.
You got scallops from the red team.
What do you think.
Seasoning was right for me.
However, sears off.
Let's go! Right here! It's kind of a crime to serve a scallop with a raw oregano.
It totally overwhelms the scallops.
I had the red team's scallops.
They were juicy.
They weren't cooked too much.
Primo.
Table 13.
I need eight more plates! Scallops coming right here! Hey, touch it in the middle.
Guys, the scallop is raw! Hey, blue team.
They're ice cold.
Alejandro, that is not done, buddy.
- No? - No.
They're not working together, Gordon.
He's putting out a raw scallop.
Can we get these plates out? Now? Yes, Chef! This is not good.
Hurry up! I had the blue team scallops, and they were fantastic.
The Romanesco, cooked perfectly.
I had the blue team's scallops.
I thought they were done very well, a little undercooked on the bottom but otherwise excellent.
Right now we're all waiting.
We have about a third of the table that's got their scallops.
It's a wedding.
We should all have our plates at the same time and experience it together.
Two minutes remaining! After that, we've got the speeches! Hurry up! Hurry up, guys.
We got to get this out.
- Go, go, go, go, go, go! - Right here.
Beautiful.
Eight top.
Okay.
We're done.
That's it? Yes.
Thank you, guys.
Last minute! Come on! Let's go! Oh my gosh.
Come on, Nathan! Let's keep going! Just keep moving! Table 14.
Let's go! Service, please! I need scallops! That's it.
We're not going to be able to get anymore scallops out.
Last minute.
Serve one scallop.
I don't care Serve them something! Come on, guys! Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one! And stop! The speeches are about to start, and I'm (bleep) speechless.
What a (bleep) show.
Chef Ramsey is furious with the blue team for failing to get all their appetizers out in time.
Have a meeting, get sorted out because you have to come back strong with the lamb.
Yes, Chef! The blue team needs to pull it together for this entrée round or else we are definitely heading home.
All right, look.
That was an absolute disaster.
Shaun, I did not mean to yell.
You got to calm down.
You got to bring it down a little bit.
You know I got a little team captain happy.
- I did not mean to yell.
- I'm just sayin', it's okay.
It's all right.
Give me a hug.
I got to be a better team captain.
I got to step it up.
I do not want to let them down.
I also need to start listening to my team better.
Barbara, you're going to season that lamb.
Shaun, sear it and get it in the oven.
I got you.
D'Andre do not let me down on that orzo.
- All right, ready? - We're gonna rock this.
Guys, everybody did a really good job.
We just crushed the appetizer round.
We heard Gordon and Christina on the other side yelling at the blue team, and they never really came and yelled at us.
If we keep this up, it's over.
We're gonna regroup.
We're gonna kill the lamb, all right? Red team, blue team, are we ready? Nathan and Yes, Chef! Your 60 minutes starts now! Get me those mushrooms right now, baby.
Both teams will now have just 60 minutes to prepare and cook 150 lamb entrées followed by only 20 minutes of service.
So blue team, they were completely flummoxed by the vinaigrette.
One mistake completely collapsed them.
It's come back time.
Everybody loves a comeback story.
If they cannot pull it together, one of them is going home.
D'Andre, do not overcook that.
It'll taste like baby food.
I understand.
I know how to cook orzo.
I make orzo all the time for my boyfriend at home, and this job is perfect for me.
We got this.
The red team had the appetizer nailed.
The scallops were beautiful.
They looked a little bit more cohesive as a team.
I agree.
They served all of their customers.
You got plenty of salt on them? Yeah.
I need some more, though.
The cook on the lamb is all about timing and all about finesse.
If these teams can get organized, they can do it.
But if they fall apart, it will be a disaster.
This a nice sear? You like this sear? No.
I'd like a little bit more.
Terry, how you feeling about this course? Oh, Chef.
I'm not feeling amazing about it yet.
I'm just worried about time.
I'm confident that I have a strong team.
But we also only have 60 minutes to get this lamb dish out.
We're starting to sear our lamb here, Chef, and sticking it into the oven.
That lamb needs to really be cooked through a nice medium rare.
Yes, Chef.
- Good luck, guys.
You got this.
- Thank you, Chef.
35 racks of lamb.
It's a huge undertaking.
It takes a lot of knowledge on how to work the oven, how to work a hot box to make sure that it all comes out.
This is a whole other level of stress.
I want you to do nothing else now except make sure that the lamb is perfect.
- All right.
- I want that lamb 135.
- I want it medium rare.
- Yes, sir.
As Captain Terry anxiously waits for the red team to execute their lamb dish Shaun, are we good? Yeah, baby.
the blue team's difficult road to redemption continues.
Hey, guys.
Something's burning.
D'Andre, is that burned on the bottom there? Can you not smell that? Oh my God.
It's burned.
Oh my gosh! Come on, guys.
Seriously? Earth to D'Andre.
- Sorry, Chef.
- Oh my gosh.
30 minutes ago, I would have totally blown up on D'Andre for burning that orzo.
But I'm just going to breathe and work through this.
Hey, can we get some pasta in there? Can we get some lemon juice in there? Can we sex it up a little bit.
Yeah.
We'll try to make it better, Chef.
- You want to start over? - No.
We don't have time.
While the blue team races to fix their orzo before the start of entrée service Let's go! Stop playing! Let's go! Stop playing! Chef Ramsey checks in on the red team as they begin to plate their entrées.
Hey, red team.
Stop! Hey, hey, hey, look at me.
Is this for the dog? It's too cold.
Dang it.
It's raw.
This is a complete and utter disaster if all of my lamb is cooked like what is on the board right here.
We still got two minutes to go.
Get organized.
Manny, come on! Manny! We got to figure it out.
- If it's raw take a different one.
- Hey, hey! Relax! - Relax! - I can't relax! I gotta go! Relax! While the red team scrambles to get their lamb properly cooked for the start of service You can't be cutting too many at a time! We don't want them ice cold! You want the peas in the orzo, yes? Yes, peas in the orzo.
the now more calm and collected blue team has managed to fix their orzo and is ready to begin plating.
Blue team, the good news is, you look a lot more organized.
Yes, Chef.
We are.
What's the first table you're doing? Bride and groom, right there.
- Followed by? - The eight top.
Good man.
Red team, blue team, time! Serve the bride and groom, please.
Let's go.
Get me lamb! Got you.
Here, somebody run these to Nathan, please.
Blue team's really starting to pull together.
All right, lambs up! Everyone's working really well together, and it seems like we may be able to pull out of this after all.
Bride and groom up! Service! Good job.
All right, guys.
Eight top coming up.
Keep that lamb coming! - Terry! Bride and groom.
- Got it! Give it to Christina! Mark it on your expediting sheet! Let's go! Okay, guys.
Service, table one! These are not cooked right.
Put them on! Service table one right here.
Take it.
Go! Come here, please.
The lamb is raw.
The lamb's raw, guys.
The lamb's raw.
Hey, hey, hey, hey! Red team, all of you come here! All that's missing is the (bleep) wool.
It's raw.
I swear to God, I'm going to cancel the whole (bleep) thing.
The lamb is raw.
If I see that again, I'm going to cancel the whole thing.
- I'm done.
- Yes, Chef.
Manny, you guys on the lamb, I need you to send us up absolutely perfectly cooked lamb.
Okay? This challenge was one of the hardest things that I've probably ever done.
It's very high intense pressure because we got to do right by Nick and Jenelle.
So, I need to slow down, take a deep breath because I'm losing focus on the lamb.
These are all perfect.
Grab these before they get cold.
These are nice.
Service please, table three.
While the red team works to find consistency with the cook of their lamb Out at the reception, Christina is getting feedback from the newlyweds as they taste each team's lamb entrée.
The blue team prepared lamb, pea and mushroom orzo, a gremolata and a roasted cherry tomato.
I love the presentation of the blue dish.
Seasoning is wonderful.
It's cooked right.
The crust is delicious.
The orzo is a little under seasoned.
The lamb on the blue side is awesome.
Let's make every dish perfect.
These are great, man.
We're good.
So, the red team prepared crusted rosemary and garlic lamb with some garlic polenta and tomato gastrique.
I could have used a little more crust.
- You're having crust envy from the blue team.
- Yes, crust envy, definitely.
Lamb.
But I love the tomato gastrique.
It's very good.
Perfect.
Brandi, go down the line.
Go.
The red team's appetizer was spot on.
I take the blue team's lamb.
- So split.
It's a split decision.
- I think it's split right now.
- Yeah.
- Okay.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Table 11 service.
Back in the kitchen, the blue team is now thriving under Captain Nathan's new found leadership skills.
Hey, we need lamb.
Hot! Coming down! It doesn't matter sometimes how hard you fall.
It's how you bounce back up.
And I feel like for a young leader, Nathan, he gets an A plus from me.
I mean, he is absolutely pulling this team back on track.
This table, let's go! His energy, his work ethic, just everything is on point.
Table ten service.
All right.
Let me get some lamb chops up here, please.
- We got five minutes! - Let's go! With the end of service approaching, the red team is rapidly sending out plates after finally mastering the cook on their lamb.
Service, service! Three top.
Service, please! Manny had a little bit of a hiccup with the different temperatures of the lamb, but Manny is still fighting out in the trenches.
Chops right here, Manny, please.
Chops.
that we're able to send out to the guests.
Get that out, table six.
Please, go guys.
I'm so proud of everybody because nobody is giving up.
Everybody's fighting.
Everybody's giving it their all.
Manny, get eight plates up, please.
Let's go guys.
Out at the reception, Nick and Jenelle's guests are giving feedback on their lamb entrées.
Katrina, what did you think about the red team's lamb? You know what? Their gastrique was fantastic.
It was actually very impressive.
I was kind of disappointed in the lamb.
It was a beautifully frenched rack, right? Yeah.
But they didn't do anything to it.
Make sure you check those tops.
- Yeah, I know.
- They got to all be perfect.
Considering the scallop that I got earlier, I think my meat is definitely winning me over.
The blue team sold me.
Dan, tomatoes.
It looks perfect.
I had the blue team's rack of lamb.
And it was phenomenal.
They came back from a horrible first dish, and this was unbelievable.
30 seconds! Come on! Hurry! Hurry! Come on, Dan! I got the last table lamb right now! Six all day.
Please guys.
One more nice chop.
Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Ten, nine, eight Hurry! Table 51 service.
Five, four Service! Service! Go! Two, one, and stop! We're done! That's it! The last table goes out, and I just have a complete sense of utter relief and satisfaction.
I'm sorry for yelling, so if I offended any of you, I'm sorry.
Hey, I thought you did an awesome job! I want to win this challenge so bad just to prove to Gordon and Christina that I have what it takes to be a leader, and I really think we did enough to win.
Ladies and gentlemen, bride and groom, it's my pleasure to introduce you to the talented 18 home cooks that made your incredible lunch today.
Please, give it up for the red team and the blue team.
Well done! Both the blue team and the red team did an amazing job tonight.
We got all of your feedback.
We've taken that into account.
And we have decided on a winning team.
Jenelle, please take your position.
Thank you, my darling.
The team winning the Mr.
and Mrs.
Nappi wedding challenge, congratulations goes to I'm running that bouquet back to MasterChef kitchen! We won, baby! I'm so proud of the fact that nobody folded under any of the pressure, and we were able to come out victorious because of how awesome my team was.
Red team, well done.
Commiserations, blue team.
All of you, please head back to those kitchens and start tidying up.
As a team leader, I feel like I let my team down.
I could have pulled together more, listened to people more.
I think I did that in the entrée round, but I don't think I did it soon enough.
Guys, the scallop thing was a disaster.
Yep.
That's the only reason why we're not on that dance floor.
Blue team, stop clearing down.
Just line up.
Unfortunately, you nine are now all up for elimination in this competition.
However, there are four of you that Gordon and I believe did too much to face elimination.
Alejandro, you worked tirelessly this afternoon.
Well done.
Thank you, Chef.
- Katie.
- Thank you.
Great gremolata.
Next one, Shaun.
Team would have been lost without you.
Thank you, Chef.
Finally Nathan.
We think you did everything you possibly could, and we were impressed with your tenacity.
You are safe from elimination.
Thank you, Chef.
I feel like Nathan deserved to be safe.
For a young leader, he did step up to the plate.
As for the rest of you, at least one of you will be returning your white apron to us and heading home.
Now, all of you get cleaning.
- Yes, Chef.
- Yes, Chef.
I'm definitely worried about getting eliminated.
There's no pressure test.
There's no redemption.
You're just gone.
You're out.
Like, that's it.
Like, wipe out.
Everything is on the line right now.
Come on down, please.
Let's go.
Out of all five of us facing elimination from the blue team, we all made mistakes, but we were all working our asses off the whole time.
I've never been in the bottom of anything before.
I'm very, very competitive, and I usually win.
And so this feels really crappy.
Welcome back.
For your first big team challenge, you got to cater for an entire wedding.
Both teams over the course of that wedding reception had their ups and their downs.
But it was the red team that was victorious yesterday.
Blue team, some of you definitely did show you have potential to take home the title.
Others, not so much.
And based on those performances, we decided to save Katie, Alejandro, Shaun and team captain, Nathan.
All four of you, up to the balcony, please.
- Thanks, Chef.
- Thank you.
Good luck, guys.
You five home cooks are all up for elimination tonight.
One or more of you has cooked in a MasterChef apron for the last time.
Andrea, Brittany and Dan, step forward, please.
Across that challenge, your performance was somewhat lackluster.
But Christina and I feel that you three did more than the two standing behind you.
The three of you, head up to the balcony.
Barbara, we hadn't even sat the congregation down, and you were roasting scallops.
And if there's one thing that doesn't hold is a scallop.
I made a mistake.
D'Andre's made mistakes in every challenge.
He has great ideas and poor execution.
I just don't think that I deserve to be eliminated yet.
D'Andre, that orzo was lackluster.
We pulled it back.
We served it.
But I expect more.
Yes, Chef.
- D'Andre, step forward please.
- Chef.
If I get sent home, I want it to be because I went head to head with somebody else, and they took me out.
I want it to be because I lost in the finale, not because of something like this.
D'Andre, Christina and I we haven't given up on you because you didn't stop working.
Head up to the balcony, please.
I feel like the luckiest person in the world.
I'm not going to waste this second chance.
Barbara, you are clearly a talented cook, but right now, you are not ready to become America's next MasterChef.
Please, take your apron off and leave the kitchen.
Oh, my gosh.
Even though I was here for just a short time, I know I can build on this experience.
It's not the end of cooking for me at all.
This is one of the most fun experiences I've ever had, but I know there's something else out there for me, and I'm just gonna continue to ride the river.
Next week Please welcome back Claudia.
Like what? a champion's mystery box Oh Oh my God.
What is that? delivers a winning result.
You could go all the way.
It's one of the best dishes we've ever seen in this competition ever.
And a baking challenge Wow.
Looks like an oil slick.
that becomes a nightmare.
That scares the crap out of me.
