You're alive! It's you! It worked!
I'm alive!
I made a promise to the elf I love
that I would return to him.
And I will not keep him waiting
one minute longer.
[Aaravos] We need a moon primal stone.
It requires an exceedingly rare ingredient
that can only be found at a place
where unicorns once roamed,
the Garden of Innocents.
[Claudia] The map.
It's completely blank now.
There's nothing on it.
But somehow Terry can see it?
[Aaravos] We must let him guide us.
[Claudia]We didn't tell Terry
that unicorns come here to rest
- forever.
- [Aaravos] The final step,
the stone must travel
all the way around the world.
Now fly.
[theme music playing]
[majestic music plays]
[Callum] There it is. The Silvergrove.
[Runaan] I dreamt of this.
[Stella chitters]
- Runaan, why don't you go on ahead?
- Nonsense.
We should go together.
Yeah, but you'll want
a minute with Ethari, right?
A minute alone?
Yes.
Then get going. We'll be right behind you.
Don't keep him waiting.
[sighs] You haven't told him yet
that you were banished.
I couldn't. I just couldn't.
[metal clanking]
[door creaks]
Apologies, but I'm busy.
You'll have to come back later.
[metal clanks]
I'm afraid I've waited long enough.
[dramatic music playing]
[Ethari sighs]
Hello, my beloved phantom.
Have you come again to haunt me?
[gasps] Haunt you?
I see you everywhere.
Hear your voice when you aren't there.
But I am begging you, Runaan, leave me be.
Let me let you go.
[water sizzles]
But I made you a promise.
And I long to make peace
with its breaking.
It's not broken, Ethari.
My promise, I've kept it.
It's me.
I'm home.
My heart.
My heart.
[birds chirping]
[panting]
Morning, Terry.
Waiting for a primal stone to fly
around the world sounded exciting,
but in reality, it's bonkers boring.
I hope your dark dreams have not
deprived you of rest, Terrestrius.
I need you to show me where you
found those feathers yesterday.
Right. The big feather
and the very small feather.
It's not too far past the bridge.
- Back soon, love.
- Don't have too much fun without me.
And now back to the sky.
[birds chirping]
[Rayla] This isn't necessary.
[Callum] No, no,
I've really perfected it this time.
- Hmm.
- Allow me to reintroduce
Elf Callum!
[sneezes]
Ugh, take it off, Callum. We're leaving.
What? Leaving? Why?
You know why.
I can't go back to the Silvergrove.
I'm a Ghost, banished
for abandoning the other assassins.
They died because of me.
I know that, but what about Runaan
and Ethari?
You can't [sighs]
They're your family.
Yes. They are.
And I can't burden them with my mistakes.
I have to live
with what I've done, not them.
Besides my home now?
It's wherever you are.
- [Runaan] Rayla!
- [both gasp]
How could you keep this from me?
Ah! I thought it was really obvious.
I thought you already knew about us.
No. That you've been made a Ghost.
Oh! Oh, right. Right, that.
I just didn't want you to worry about me.
- If I told you, it would've messed up
- Not another word, Rayla.
Your family is here for you.
We will set it right.
There is a way.
Here we are. Lots of feathers.
But what are we actually looking for?
The moon primal stone
will hold all of the magic we need.
But to access the In-Between,
where lost souls wait,
we must find a special key.
[wings flapping nearby]
Look there.
A mother bird.
- Do you know how I can tell?
- Hmm.
Oh! She's caught two
wiggly worms there, hasn't she?
She's got little mouths to feed.
[chuckles]
Well spotted.
- She is the key.
- Her?
- This mama bird?
- Yes.
Those trapped in the In-Between
have left something behind in this world.
They have unfinished business.
[chirps]
- [squawking]
- [Terry] What are you doing? Stop!
I said stop!
[grunts] Huh!
[squawking]
You see, as she dies,
all she can think about is her hatchlings,
her sweet tiny babies,
sitting safe and cozy somewhere in a nest
and how she has failed them.
She would do anything
to return to them, but she can't.
It's over.
And that is why she will
have unfinished business.
[gong echoing]
Keeper Lyrennus.
Master of Blades. Impossible.
We believed you were dead.
All of you were dead.
If you live, then the others?
The other assassins are lost.
All but one, one who has been wronged
by the Silvergrove.
Rayla yet lives.
You speak the name of a Ghost.
I speak the name of my daughter.
[Ethari] Mortuos videre.
We demand that Rayla be allowed
to return to the Silvergrove.
We invoke the Ritual of the New Moon.
Follow me.
Within this hollow
is the Well of the Forgotten.
Here is where the spell
that banished you was performed
and the only place it can be undone.
To invoke the ritual,
one of you must bind your fate to hers.
Both of us, Keeper.
We will not be separated again.
As you wish.
If you fail, Ghost,
they will share your fate.
They will be banished
from this place forever.
Now come.
The Ritual awaits.
[Lyrennus] Ah, ah, ah.
Outsiders are not welcome in this place.
[in Earthblood accent]
Ah, oh, right, right, of course,
you wouldn't want
an Earthblood elf like me
following you down under, would you?
[sneezes]
Oy!
[ominous music]
You lied to me!
I never lie.
I simply said we needed a big feather
and a very small feather.
That is all.
No. You say you never lie,
but what you do is worse.
You tell half-truths
and let people fill in the rest.
You make people lie to themselves!
It's deception.
It's manipulation, and it's wrong.
I'll tell Claudia.
Oh, it will change nothing.
She loves me.
I am her father now
and she is my daughter.
- [gasps] You're sick.
- Am I?
And what of Claudia, then?
She knows so much more than she tells you,
and she keeps it that way to protect you.
Protect me? What are you talking about?
The magic map,
Claudia and I cannot see it.
We needed someone with a true heart
to lead us to the Garden of Innocents.
Someone like you.
- But she told me she could see it.
- No, she didn't.
I guess I assumed.
And the Garden itself,
it is a place of rest,
just as we told you.
But there's more. It's a graveyard.
A place where unicorns came to die.
How could I be so stupid?
Claudia knew this.
And now you know too.
- She used me.
- Yes.
And I take no pleasure in your pain.
But this was inevitable.
The true heart is a gift of childhood.
For a few wonder-filled years,
we each have innocent eyes to experience
the world's beauty in a simple way.
- [crying]
- Terrestrius, you were lucky
and held that innocent wonder
longer than most.
No!
[Aaravos]I have seen generations
of humans and elves
accept the darkness that lurks
in all of us beside the light.
There is no black or white,
only shades of gray.
We must all carry complexity.
But please believe me
that there is beauty in this burden.
Your heart will be a little heavier.
But now, there will be
no more half-truths, Terrestrius.
Together, we will do what must be done
however dangerous
however vile.
Like the moon itself,
all of us may be reborn from darkness.
To achieve that rebirth,
you must prove yourself worthy
of forgiveness and absolution.
Step forward, Ghost.
You will face the five elves you wronged.
Those whose blood and pain
you alone carry.
And you will be judged.
[pensive music]
[Rayla gasps]
[gasps]
Hello again. [sighs]
Life is precious.
Life is valuable.
We take it, but we do not take it lightly.
And all of your lives were taken.
But your sacrifices,
they weren't for nothing.
Callisto.
You pledged your breath for freedom
and we freed ourselves
from an awful, pointless war.
Andromeda,
you pledged your eyes for truth.
And we found the truth,
a truth that changed the world.
Skor, you pledged your strength for honor
and now, humans and elves
have finally begun
to treat each other with honor again.
And Ram.
You pledged your blood for justice.
But what is justice?
The king died that night.
A life for a life.
Is that justice?
How much suffering is enough to pay
for the mistakes we've made?
I don't have the answers.
And I'm so, so sorry.
But I'll carry you with me,
all of you, forever.
[majestic music]
Five elves.
That means the last one must be you.
- Runaan, I
- Rayla.
You only have yourself to forgive now.
Keeper. Is it not finished?
Finished? You think this is over?
After all you've done, Ghost.
Lyrennus, don't do this.
Don't let your own pain
cloud your judgment.
[grunts]
His pain? What do you mean?
You killed my son!
Ram?
I am the fifth elf you wronged, Ghost.
- My son's blood is on your hands.
- [screeches]
- No!
- And I will never forgive you, betrayer.
You will remain a Ghost,
and your family
will pay the price with you.
I know I should've told you. I know.
But, Terry,
I've done so many bad things before
and you know they were for good reasons.
What's different about this?
Because you didn't trust me
to make my own choice.
You used me.
You've never done that before.
It's not how you treat someone you love.
It's not how you treat any person.
And if I let you treat me that way,
I'm not sure I can really be me anymore.
You're always you.
You're being so you right now.
No. Aaravos said
that this would change me,
but I love myself the way I am.
And if I let myself change
to someone I don't even like,
I'm not
I'm not really the person you fell
in love with anymore, am I?
Does this mean what I think it means?
[Rayla whimpering]
The Keeper's son is dead,
and it's my fault.
- He'll never forgive me.
- [sighs]
This isn't right.
What you did was hard,
but it was the right thing.
You know that. I know you do.
[whimpers]
I'll have to beg him. I'll grovel.
I'll say anything he wants to hear.
No. Do not betray yourself, Rayla.
But, Runaan,
I can't let him suffer for what I did.
You cannot carry his pain for him.
Your suffering will not mend his wounds.
Whatever his choice may be,
we're a family.
We're together again.
He cannot take that away from us.
Ghost. I thought you'd run away again.
I'm here,
but not to give you what you want.
I'm not going to beg you to forgive me.
How dare you?
You've lost someone.
You're angry and hurt and alone.
What I feel has no bearing here.
You swore an oath, and you broke it.
There must be justice.
Each of us pledged a part
of ourselves for that mission.
Your son pledged his blood for justice.
And the thing is, no one should have
to spill their blood for justice.
- No one.
- But my son is dead.
I'll never see him again. Never.
Someone has to pay, you have to pay.
I am so sorry about Ram.
But no amount of suffering,
yours or mine, will ever bring him back.
So if you want to punish me,
I can't stop you.
But I don't think it will bring you peace.
Only more pain.
[sighs] I will honor your choice, Keeper.
[grunts]
[grunts, sighs]
[dramatic music playing]
[gasps]
Like the new moon, you are reborn,
Rayla of the Silvergrove.
[exhales sharply]
Will you be all right?
Go. Your family is waiting.
I'm home. I'm finally home!
Oh, is, is this a
is this a group thing, or?
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be
in this hug or just next to the
Ooh, okay.
- Where's Terrestrius gone?
- He left.
Because he found out the truth.
Ah.
I knew he'd leave, once he found out.
He said he would always love me,
no matter what happened.
But he had to leave. For himself.
And because he had unfinished business.
[whistle nearby]
Is it worth it?
[chirping]
[breathes shakily]
Hello there, little ones.
I'm I'm so sorry,
your momma's not coming back.
Shh, shh. It's okay.
I'm going to take care of you now.
