Dynasty s09e02 Episode Script
A Touch of Sable
Last time on Dynasty: Krystle? Krystle.
- Oh, Dex, you wouldn't.
- Of course I would.
- Dex, no.
- You're coming in.
Down you go.
Don't touch me, you brat.
What are you doing? I'm gonna divorce you again.
I am, I swear to you.
You are just a brute, you know? I'll bet you told Goldilocks some interesting stories after I left.
- Let's forget about this morning.
- That was quite a performance.
- Yours wasn't bad, either.
- Which one? In the living room or in bed? Well, let's not let this ruin the rest of the day.
- Where are you going? - Out of here.
Let's at least have some champagne.
Champagne? Champagne.
You want some champagne? I'll give you champagne.
How's that for champagne? Oh, you are my best friend in the whole world, you know that? You're the only man who's man enough to give me my space.
And this woman really needs her space.
And speaking of space Whoa! The headaches have gotten progressively worse.
And there were these dizzy spells and then erratic behaviour.
How soon can you bring her to Los Angeles? Doctor, Krystle has disappeared.
- We haven't been able to find her.
- You have to.
She could be capable of almost anything.
Krystle? What is it? My God, it's a body.
A body? Oh, no.
Krystle.
- Come on, let's go.
- We've got to tell Blake about this.
I don't wanna tell him on the phone.
I'd rather see him in person.
It'll be easier on him.
Oh, Jeff, I can't believe this is happening.
I'm Sergeant Zorelli.
This is Detective Lyons.
- You the people that called? - I'm Jeff Colby, - and this is Sammy Jo Carrington.
- Carrington? - Any relation to? - Yes.
I see.
I told you to leave the body alone.
Why'd you fish it out? It seemed like the right thing to do.
Oh.
Okay, let's take a look.
He's got some kind of a head wound.
I think it's a homicide.
The coroner will figure that out.
I already checked for ID.
You're a real thoughtful guy.
Maybe I should just give you my badge, - I'll go home and take a nap.
- Just trying to help, that's all.
I'm gonna need your statements, so stick around.
There's a blanket in the car if you want.
I'll be all right, thanks.
Come on.
Jeff, we've gotta tell them about Krystle.
- Why? - Because she was here.
- We have her diary.
- Give me that.
- No.
- You don't want those guys - going through her diary, do you? - I don't care if it'll help find her.
Look, maybe Krystle took a ride.
Maybe she wanted to get some time alone from Blake.
And maybe whoever killed him may have gotten to her too.
Sammy Jo, we've scoured this place.
The only thing we found is some car tracks and some footprints around the lake.
They're probably Krystle's, and if they are, she drove off.
If she saw anything, she would've called the police.
What if she couldn't? What a mess.
Oh, look, there's Grandpa.
Hello, my little pumpkin.
She and L.
B.
were helping Mrs.
Gunderson make pancakes.
I think they got more batter on themselves than they did the skillet.
Heh.
That's exactly what you and Steven used to do.
- Oh, right, Dad.
- I wanna talk to you for a minute.
- Sure, sure.
- I'll be in the library.
We better get you cleaned up or somebody's gonna think you're a pancake.
Yes, they will.
Here, Carmella, take her.
Daddy, are you all right? - Yes.
Yes.
Why? - You should get some sleep.
I have things to do, you know? There're some points that I want covered at the meeting today.
- Daddy, you look exhausted.
- I told you, I'm all right.
But you aren't.
You look like you haven't slept in ages.
Never mind.
This meeting is very important.
I want that whole mess with the oil tankers settled so we can close the Vitron account with your mother.
It's being taken care of.
We won't let you down, I promise.
And we would help you with Krystle too, if you'd just let us.
- Fallon, please.
- I've never seen you like this before.
- I'm all right.
- What could be so wrong that you have to hide it? Is she having emotional problems? Because if that's it, then we're Hello? - Mr.
Carrington? - Yes.
This is Pete McWhorter, Harmon Springs Police.
Jeff Colby called me yesterday about your wife.
We just brought in a two-tone Rolls-Royce that's registered in her name.
You did? What happened? What about my wife? - We don't know that yet, sir.
- Well, you've got the car.
But she wasn't driving.
Sir, the car had been stolen.
Some punk took us on a 10-mile chase out near the county line.
Yes, but what about my wife? Sir, could you just come down to the station? - We're located on the - I know where the impound yard is.
Yes, I'll be right down.
- I'm going with you.
- No.
I'm going with you.
It is kind of early.
What were you two doing out here anyway? - We were looking - Sammy Jo.
Jeff, she's gone.
We need help if we're gonna find her.
Wait a second, who's gone? Folks, maybe you don't appreciate the situation here, - but if you're withholding information - Jeff.
- I promised Blake.
- Why don't you tell me who's gone? It's my aunt.
Krystle Carrington.
Sorry, Jeff.
We were looking for her.
She was upset and sometimes she comes here.
What was she upset about? We don't know.
She's just been gone for a long time, that's all.
We came here to find her and we found him instead.
- Did she know him? - How would we know? We've never seen him before.
We're doing casts of some tyre tracks, and footprints we found by the shore, and we found this.
That's my aunt's.
- Are you sure? - Yes.
- Oh, my God.
- Okay, let's widen the search.
You two got any more secrets you're keeping to yourselves? I had to tell him, Jeff.
I'm afraid something terrible has happened to Krystle.
Yeah, let's just hope they don't find her.
At least not out here.
That's right, she walked out on me.
Well, I've just gotta get my son back without her, that's all.
Don't worry, Dennis, I'll think of something.
"Dad" Steven to Dad.
Oh.
Oh, how touching.
Baby brother's biannual bye-bye.
Maybe this time, it will be for good.
Don't worry, Steven, I'll mind the store.
He said he found the keys in the ignition and some jewellery in the glove compartment.
That is ridiculous.
Krystle wouldn't walk off and leave the car.
To say nothing of the jewellery.
- Where did he say he found it? - Stapleton International.
- One of the parking lots.
- I don't believe it.
He's lying.
Mr.
Carrington, can I have a word with you? Jeff said that you didn't wanna let on that your wife was missing, but given what's happened here, I think we ought to put out an APB.
All right.
All right, if we have to, but I want this kept a police matter.
- No press.
- Well, we'll do the best we can.
Come on, we'll get an MP filled out.
The man you brought in, do you know him? Eddie McPhee? Yeah, we know him.
He's been in and out of here for years.
For what, car theft? - Yeah, that and a few other things.
- What other things? - Oh, a lot of stuff.
It doesn't matter.
- Yes, it does.
I wanna know.
All right.
The last time we brought him in, it was for murder.
This is beautiful.
What is this all about? - I knew it'd get a rise out of you.
- Oh, no.
If you think you're getting me up in that thing, no way.
- Come on.
- No, no, Dex.
I don't like those things.
- Oh, come on.
Are you afraid? - I really don't.
There's a difference between fear and common sense.
Yeah? Well, this is neither.
This is gonna be fun.
I don't I don't like to Look.
- You don't wanna - What are you doing to that? - Well, I don't wanna go out there - Yeah, we're gonna go - All right.
- Don't just stand there, - do something! Dex! - Here we are.
I'm frightened of heights.
- I don't like this.
- You ready? - You're sending me up alone? - Bon voyage.
Dex, you're crazy.
You know I'm terrified of heights.
Don't you forget to write.
Oh, Dex.
I'll get you for this.
- I swear I will.
I'll get you.
- Uh-huh.
You're never gonna live this down.
Never.
Bye! I can't be positive, but I think she was wearing some sort of a white silk blouse and slacks.
- How about jewellery? - Oh, just rings and a bracelet.
Anything like this? - We found it on McPhee.
- Oh, God.
Is there anything else that you can tell me about her? Anything in particular bothering her? She was having these terrible headaches.
Stress.
- She taking any drugs? - No.
Well, some over-the-counter pills for the headaches, but they weren't very strong.
Where you want him? Interrogation.
I'll be right there.
Come on, pretty boy.
Is that the man? - Yeah, that's him.
- I wanna talk to him.
I don't think that'd be a good idea.
- What have you done with my wife? - Daddy.
Let them handle it.
- Answer me.
Where is she? - There are procedures to be followed.
Hell with procedures, I wanna talk to that animal.
- So far, he said he hasn't done it.
- He's lying.
Well, sir, knowing McPhee, you better hope he isn't.
How could you do this to me when you know I have vertigo, you ape? Oh, good Lord.
You having fun yet? - Oh.
Clumsy me.
- Ha-ha-ha.
Be a darling.
Fetch that for me, will you? Uh-huh.
Sure.
- Dex, Dex.
No.
Come on back here.
- Whoa! You know, I've been thinking.
I've been fighting the world for so long, and where has it gotten me? Do I play the violin now? - Dex, I need help.
- You bet you do.
No, I really do.
I've been through hell of a lot and I've finally come to realise that you are the only man that I can really trust.
Not Blake? I mean, after all these years? Oh, Dex.
Now, come on.
Be serious.
You know, you really can help me.
I know that you know that Wall Street banker.
He could help me salvage my stocks.
Then you could find me a financial wizard who could come in and go through Colbyco books and see what kind of a mess Sean had left them in.
And? Oh, Dex.
You're really enjoying this, aren't you? You rat.
And then there's those nine tankers.
Oh, there you could really help me.
No, I'm sorry.
Not this time.
Oh, Dex, please.
After all we've meant to each other, you can't abandon me now.
Abandon you? Alexis, you're one of a kind.
You actually think that I have nothing better to do than wait in your bullpen? I'm a businessman.
So name your price.
- Price? - Yeah, you're a businessman.
So how much is it gonna cost me to buy your valuable time? I think we'd better get you back down to earth.
The altitude's gone to your head.
Now, if I can just figure out how 10 - What are you looking for? - Hmm? The instructions.
I could have sworn that I brought those along.
- Dex.
- Well, it happened so quickly.
I mean, I just learned how to get this sucker up.
Down, I'm not so sure about.
Hmm.
Dex, you're joking, aren't you? You must be joking.
Well, maybe this here.
This could help.
Dex.
If you Don't do that.
If you take that off, we'll drop like a stone.
Well, tell me, do you have any ideas? I suggest we never do this again.
I don't know.
I just can't get over it.
Some guy murdered and dumped in the lake like that? Yeah, I know.
It kind of throws you.
I know it happens all the time, but Not to us.
- You okay? - I'll be fine.
I guess I might as well go back and change for the board meeting this afternoon.
- How about that diary? - What about it? I'd like to give it to Blake after the meeting.
It's not Blake's.
It's Krystle's.
I'll keep it and give it to her.
Right.
Well, I'll call you this afternoon.
- This has been one hell of a day.
- Hasn't it? About this time yesterday, I was at your place with champagne, a lot of hope for our future, and your ex-wife.
Sammy Jo, I don't know what else to say.
You will take care of that diary, won't you? No, I'm gonna sell it to the tabloids.
See you.
Maybe the detective was right about going public.
It could help.
No.
No.
Not yet.
Well, how much longer can we wait? I don't want this thing turned into a circus.
You know what would happen.
We'd get false leads from every maniac who wants to be on television.
Well, one of those leads could be right.
I don't know.
I really don't know.
Daddy, we can't just throw a lid over this.
What if Krystle's out there somewhere and needs help? We have to keep hoping she's alive and well.
She is alive.
She has to be.
Thank heavens you're back.
I just tried to reach you.
A woman called.
She wanted to talk to you about Mrs.
Carrington.
- What woman? - She wouldn't leave her name.
Where was she calling from? What did she say about Mrs.
Carrington? Did she say she was all right? I'm sorry, sir, she wouldn't say.
I'm sure she'll call back.
I've got so many campaign debts you might as well bury me next to Sean.
Oh, come on.
You've got a multimillion-dollar empire, a few hundred thousand in campaign debts is supposed to bury you? - It's not just that, Dex.
- What is it then? You wanna tell me a sob story, at least make it accurate.
It's just that my empire's become so big, I'm finding it difficult to maintain control.
Well, you had Sean to control things for you.
Don't be cute, Dex.
I stopped trusting Sean three or four months ago.
I mean, he had so much time to work his way into my company, who knows what he did? It's like having termites.
You have this big, beautiful house, but who knows what's going on inside? Oh, I don't know.
I just- I just have the feeling that there's something really bad going on.
Who knows what people Sean paid off behind my back? Who knows what kind of deals he cut? I just don't know, I just don't trust anybody anymore.
So you want me to polish up my armour and come to work for you? - With me, Dex.
- Oh, equal partners now? Well, not exactly.
Alexis, I am no longer interested in fighting your dragons.
Okay, so chivalry's dead.
How about a piece of land? I remember you pestering me last month for that piece of land.
The one downtown by the civic centre? Let me understand this.
Am I hearing an offer or are you just tweaking my cheeks? Business before pleasure.
I don't know.
I mean, that piece of land, all you're doing is growing weeds.
Oh, Dex, how can you say that? That is one of the best damn property values in the city.
And I'm gonna let you buy that land.
Buy it? You wanna sell it to me? You don't think I'm gonna give it away.
Well, what's a small gift among friends? Oh, Dex.
Friends support each other.
They don't practice extortio- - Are you listening to me? - Yeah, go on.
No, you weren't.
I know that look.
Go on.
I'm listening.
This is Mrs.
Colby.
Your information was surprisingly accurate.
Alexis is in Los Angeles.
Now, listen.
I want you to find out what that witch is doing here and how long she's staying and where she's staying.
Would you do that for me? Of course.
Ooh.
I do count on you.
Yes.
Yes, all right.
Thank you.
Goodbye.
That wasn't her, was it? No, no, it was Jeff.
He and Sammy Jo found something of Krystle's out at the lake this morning.
Apparently, she drove out there yesterday.
- What did they find? - A scarf and some other things.
He's gonna tell me about it when he comes by after the board meeting, which you are gonna be late for.
They'll wait for me.
Did you tell Jeff about the phone call? Yes.
Darling, you don't have to wait here for me.
I could Hello? Yes, it is.
Are you the woman who called here earlier? In Dayinn? Well, I want to talk to her.
- Why not? - Daddy, what's going on? All right.
Give me your phone number.
Fine.
I'll call you when I'm coming in.
Good bye.
Krystle's in Ohio? In Dayion.
That's her hometown.
The woman said she was her cousin.
- Well, is Krystle all right? - She didn't say.
Darling, call the airport.
Tell them to get the plane ready.
Operator? In Dayion.
Number for Virginia Metheny.
M-E-T-H-E-N-Y.
I don't know the address.
Sorry.
Mr.
Carrington? I'm Virginia Metheny.
- Where's Krystle? - I didn't bring her.
I'm not sure how she's going to react to seeing you.
React to seeing me? - What do you mean? - We should get back.
I have a friend watching her but I don't like leaving her.
Well, now, what the devil is going on here? I'm sorry about my car.
I know you're used to better things.
Forget about the car.
I wanna hear about Krystle.
Well, she showed up last night, just after I got home from work.
I wasn't even sure if it was her or not.
Her face was strange, like Like she was in a lot of pain.
She had mud all over her clothes.
There was this tear in her blouse.
Well, she must have told you something.
What did she say? Well, she kept looking around like somebody was chasing her.
And then she started to scream: "Hide me! Help me! He's going to kill me!" - Who? - I don't know.
Who did you think she was talking about? Now, wait a minute.
You don't think that I was trying to kill her.
I didn't know what to think.
She was terrified.
How could I know that you weren't behind it? All right, but then you phoned me.
Why? Well, this morning when she woke up, you know, she was perfectly normal.
So I started to ask her about last night.
She got this look.
Went over to the telephone and stared to dial, and she said: "Isn't that funny? I don't remember the number.
" Whose number? Her mother's.
She said she didn't want her mother to worry that she'd been out all night.
- Her mother's been dead for years.
- I know.
That's when I knew something was horribly wrong.
What is it? Is she taking some sort of medication or something? Just some mild painkillers for headaches.
Then what? You know, don't you? Please, just take me to her.
Boo! Well, "boo" to you too.
We're playing hide-and-go-seek and I'm it.
Well, that sounds like fun.
Do you wanna play? No, I can't right now but I'll take a rain check.
- Rain check? - Never mind.
I think you better go on seeking.
You're never gonna find everybody.
Okay.
You're just in time.
It's happy hour.
What can I get you? - How dare you.
- Pardon me? You have the gall to celebrate - after that stunt you pulled? - What stunt? You know damn well what I'm talking about.
At the board meeting, it was bad enough you had to put Steven down, but then you had to sneak out like a weasel before Jeff or I had a chance to talk to you.
- You need a drink.
- No, I don't.
Neither do you.
Steven's your brother.
You deliberately tried to humiliate him in front of the entire board of directors.
It's inexcusable.
I didn't humiliate Steven.
He wasn't there.
- Oh, come on.
- Let me explain something to you.
Today was supposed to be the most important board of directors meeting of the year.
Now, the plan was to go over the realignment of the holdings get a handle on the mess that Mother left us.
But, oh, lo and behold, our illustrious chief operating officer, our lovely brother Steven wouldn't show up.
He didn't even call.
Now, what the hell was I supposed to do? Embarrass him.
The first thing that came to your mind.
I didn't embarrass Steven.
Steven embarrassed himself.
I'm sure Steven has a very good reason - for not being at the meeting.
- File it under incompetence.
I can't believe you.
- How can you talk about him like that? - Go ahead and bark at me.
I was trying to save face for the whole family.
You think I enjoyed covering for him? You certainly enjoyed embarrassing him.
The look on your face was pure glee.
That was pure joy because you and Jeff finally walked through the door.
Tell me, what actually held you up? - We've had some problems.
- Oh! Oh, oh.
Oh, and I lose my wife, I lose my son, I still managed to show up on time.
I think I'm the only member who cares to keep Denver-Carrington on top.
- That's not true, and you know it.
- Yes.
Shut up and listen to me for once.
Somethings happened to Krystle.
What's happened to Krystle? I don't know.
I don't know, but it's not good.
Yes.
Yes, she looks fine, but I haven't been able to talk to her.
She's still asleep.
No.
The only thing I can be sure of is that she took a plane here yesterday afternoon.
I spoke to Jeff after the board meeting.
He didn't wanna tell you over the phone, especially while Krystle was still missing, but they found more than just Krystle's scarf at the lake.
They found her diary and a body.
- A body? - Some young guy Jeff thinks he was murdered.
He said it was muddy out there too.
Remember how Krystle's car looked? - Yes.
- What if the guy who stole the car killed that man? Krystle could have seen it and run away.
Well, we'll piece that together when she wakes up.
By the way, how did the board meeting go? Oh, well enough.
Only Steven never showed up.
- He didn't? Why not? - I don't know.
But you should have heard the way Adam carried on about him.
I mean, he practically made it sound like Steven had run off with the cookie jar.
Well, I'm sure that he had a good reason for not being there.
I tell you, I wish that you three would make an effort to get along better together.
If not for my sake, at least for the company.
Well, we do try.
It just doesn't always work out.
You sound exhausted.
You should get some sleep.
Yeah.
I am a little tired.
We'll see you both tomorrow.
I'm so glad Krystle's safe.
Thank you, darling.
- Night.
- Good night, Daddy.
Adam, you bastard.
I bet you did this.
Well, if only you'd negotiate as well as you dance, we'd have a deal by now.
Well, with you or without you, I am going to get my affairs in order.
Oh, I knew you could count on you.
Thank you for making it necessary.
Oh! Oh.
Ooh, whoops.
- Sable.
- Hello, darling.
Good Lord, it's been a long time.
Not long enough.
- Sable Colby? - Yes, and this is - Hamilton Stone, of course.
- Oh, you know each other? Oh, yes.
I knew him long before he took over Tri-World Bank.
You look wonderful, Mrs.
Colby, as always.
- Oh, thank you, Mr.
Stone.
- Her name is Rowan.
Not anymore.
Oh, yes, of course.
Your poor husband.
I see you're grief-stricken.
Yes.
I understand that you lost your husband too.
Traded you in for your sister, didn't he? Should I be sorry about your husband? Oh, no, he was sorry enough without having anybody else's help.
And you must be the one who shot him.
Well, death is a simpler solution than divorce.
Honestly, darling.
First Cecil, then Sean.
I understand why you're not on the dance floor, Sable.
You might trip over your tongue.
- Excuse me, ladies.
Dex Dexier.
- Pleasure.
- Hamilton, do you rumba? - Never.
Oh, good.
Darling, why don't you keep Sable occupied for a while? What a tangled web we weave.
Shall we have a glass of champagne? - Do you mind? - Of course, she doesn't mind.
She's used to her men walking out on her.
You and Alexis seem so close, I'm surprised we've never met.
And which of her trained puppies were you? Would you care to dance? With any luck, it'll be too noisy to talk.
Oh, I think I touched a nerve.
Thank you.
So what on earth are you doing here with my cousin? I met Sable through Jason Colby.
I was in town on business and looked her up at her museum.
She's put on quite an exhibition.
Yes.
Exhibitionism's one of her strong suits.
Are you two an item? No, no, no, we're just negotiating for one of her Renoirs.
It's absolutely extraordinary bumping into you like this because I have a terrible problem, you're one of the few people in the world who could help me with it.
- Your ships.
- You know? Yes, surprisingly, a little news does occasionally trickle its way down to Washington.
But Blake Carrington's involved in all that kind of thing, isn't he? - That whole arms smuggling thing? - No, no, no.
He only has one tanker down there.
I have nine.
And the Natumbe government have got their hot little hands all over them.
I know a few people in that part of the world.
We have a saying at the bank.
They used to eat the missionaries down there.
Now they just swallow their possessions.
That is exactly what's going to happen to my ships unless somebody makes them see reason.
Couldn't you please intercede on my behalf, hmm? For old times' sake? We must have had better times than I remember.
But curiously enough, I'm heading that way in the morning.
What an amazing coincidence.
- Care for a cocktail? - Yes.
I knew that Alexis had lost her election, but I had no idea she was in financial trouble too.
What makes you say that? Oh, something in the way she drools.
I wouldn't worry about Alexis.
She'll find a way to land on her feet.
Or her back.
I didn't mean to startle you.
I'm sorry that I was so short with you out at the airport today.
I'd been going through a very difficult time.
I understand.
In that light, sewing, you remind me so much of Krystle.
She's still sleeping.
Good.
I just thought I'd fix her blouse.
Until I met Krystle, it never crossed my mind that somebody could find pleasure in sewing.
- She enjoys it, even now.
- Hmm.
I remember one time when she made my sister's dress for the senior prom.
She was up all night, making sure every stitch, everything was perfect.
It was beautiful.
- Would you like some more tea? - No, thank you.
Until I went and spilled salad dressing all down the front of it.
Sally and I had to go and buy another dress.
Krystle, she wasn't too happy with me for a few days.
I imagine not.
Well, that's better.
You know, I was raised to think that the most important thing in life for me was to battle my way to the top of whatever mountain I chose and do my damnedest to stay there.
Until I met Krystle.
A couple of years ago, on our anniversary, we went to Cape Cod.
And there was this very stormy night.
We walked down to the beach.
And there was a lighthouse, and it stood out, and the light flashing.
The sea was awful.
Huge whitecaps and waves pounding on the beach.
And way off in the distance, on the horizon, just barely make it out, was a large freighter.
And I remember thinking: "I'm that ship out there.
" And this lady beside me, she's my lighthouse.
"Don't ever take her away from me because I'd be lost.
" I can't tell you how much she means to me.
You already have.
Blake.
What's wrong with her? Did Krystle ever write to you and tell you about the time she was hurt riding a couple of years ago? Mm-hm.
It caused the miscarriage.
We were expecting our first child then.
We had such hopes.
She wrote how crushed you were.
Did she tell you that when she fell, that she struck her head? All these years, I've held back from talking about it.
Maybe it's time now.
And where the hell have you been? Well, you and Hamilton Stone were having such a great time, I didn't wanna spoil things.
Mm.
So you just left with my cousin Sable, hmm? That was my assignment.
I asked you to keep her occupied, not cling to her like a second layer of clothing.
Oh, is somebody in the room jealous? Ha-ha.
Oh, jealous? Of Sable? Ever since we were children, she's been jealous of me.
You do know who Hamilton Stone is, don't you, Dex? He was undersecretary of state for a few years, then he was ambassador to one of those Third World countries.
Now he runs Tri-World Bank.
Hamilton Stone, pillar of our community.
And I knew him when he was just a campaign aide.
Just think, if that election had gone differently He'd be Hamilton Stone, pillar of the kitchen cabinet.
Oh, you can mock him all you like, Dex, but he's the man who's gonna help me out in Natumbe.
Oh.
Well, I knew you'd get your ships together one way or another.
He knows what those people have been doing with my tankers and he is going to twist arms to get them back for me.
- Oh, I'm so happy for you.
- Hmm.
Good.
- When are you leaving? - Leaving? What do you mean? Well, Hamilton Stone's leaving for Africa tomorrow.
I'm sure you found a way to invite yourself along.
Oh, aren't you the clever little thing? - You don't mind, do you? - Of course not.
We have an open divorce.
- Besides, it is important to you.
- Oh, Dex.
You are one of a kind.
If you keep being this supportive, I'm just gonna have to give you that land you want for half the price.
- Half? That's good.
- Mm.
But not good enough.
Better start looking for someone else to help you.
Hey, how about Hamilton Stone? Dex.
Why don't you just forget about business for a moment, hmm? This may take longer than a moment.
I certainly hope so.
- All alone? - Not anymore.
And it's still early.
I would have thought you'd have been exhausted after wrestling that piranha all evening.
You don't care much for your cousin, do you? Actually, Alexis holds a very special place in my heart.
A place I don't think I would ever care to visit.
You know, I still find her enchanting.
And she wants to come to Africa with me tomorrow.
Somehow that doesn't surprise me.
She's having some problems with nine of her tankers down there.
She thinks I can get them back for her.
And I'm sure you can, but don't get back all nine.
Two will be more than enough.
Why don't we share a nightcap and discuss this further? Oh, I think we understand one another well enough.
Good night, Hamilton.
Stay very close in touch.
You're gonna be comfortable on the couch? - Oh, yes, thank you very much.
- Hmm.
What are your plans when you get back to Denver? I don't know.
There's this doctor in Los Angeles.
I'm hoping to get Krystle to him as soon as possible.
Beyond that, I just don't know.
I'll let you get some sleep.
Good night.
Good night.
I can't tell you how much I There's nothing to thank me for.
She looks so peaceful.
Imagine her talking about killing someone.
- What did you say? - What I told you in the car.
You told me in the car that there was someone after her.
Well, she said a lot of things.
She talked about killing someone? Such a jumble.
You know, all about wanting me to hide her.
She said something about running away from a lake, and there had been a fight there and she killed a man.
- Near the lake? - Uh-huh.
But it's ridiculous.
I mean, Krystle committing murder?
