I'm goa go with adam.
Oh! Yes! Daly: Adam scored four powerful vocalists.
Adam: Team adam could definitely have a winner.
I'm super excited.

Don't listen to him.
These guys have hundreds of people just like you.
What?! Adam: That's a straight-up lie.
You're not even allowed hundreds of people on your team.
I did win last season.
Oh.
Pharrell, i have to fight you really hard right now.
I'm a mother.
I know what it's like to nurture somebody.
Blake: No.
Stop that.
Adam: Don't you dare do that.
Stop your manipulation.
[ grunting .]
didn't i, didn't i, didn't i see you cryin'? [ crying .]
i had it all, and it was all taken away.
But this is my second chance.
[ cheers and applause .]
Who's gonna be your coach? It's no longer a care bear wrestling match.
[ laughs .]
daly: But one decision Wow! Daly: Is bigger than music.
Oh, od Daly: The blind auditions continue Did she say yes? Gwen: Oh, my god! Daly: Right now.
Give me some talent! I'm morgan frazier.
I am 22 years old.
I'm originally from breckenridge, texas, But i currently live in nashville, tennessee.
I think the first thing i ever did musically Was sing "when you say nothing at all" by alison krauss At a local talent show.
when you say nothing at all Just all alone, stiff as a board.
It all started from there.
At 9 years old, i told my mom and dad i wanted to make a cd.
So my parents paid about $5,000 to get me rolling.
So we decided to go about two years on the road, Selling the cd.
I painted motels and just did any kind of odd jobs I could do on e side to keep going.
We put on my wranglers and my sparkly shirt.
I would go door to door, and i sold 30,000 copies, Because i don't think they could resist A little girl in a cowboy hat.
She is always just doing her own thing.
She just always has been independent.
At 16, i got a call from a manager in nashville That told me, "i will set you up with these amazing writers.
" So we went back and forth to nashville, Draggiparents along with me, Knowing that that was a lot of stress for my dad, Having to take off work.
And at one point, i just decided, "i think i can do this on my own.
" Leaving morgan in nashville at 16 Was the hardest thing, i think, we've ever had to do.
But s ry independent, And she paid her own car payment, her own rent.
Um, she's You're gonna make me cry.
Very strong.
Living in nashville And competing with all of these amazing artists Is definitely difficult.
My manager didn't pan out of tlike i expected, ists And i learned a lot from him.
But i currently play about two nights a week At a place called tootsie's orchid lounge.
Everyone from patsy cline to hank williams sr.
All played that same little stage That i've gotten to stand on.
It's a wld-famous bar, But it's definitely not what i want to do For the rest of my life.
I need this opportunity Because "the voice" can help me live out my dream.
Watching the show at home d then being here is crazy.
I'm a huge fan, So to be able to sing in front of these amazing four coaches, It's completely mind-blowing.
I'll be singing "i want you to want me" by cheap trick.
I've always listened to the lyrics, Thinking, "this is a love song.
" So i put a twist on it.
My parents have given so much to my dream.
For tho see me live it out means a lot to me.
i want you to want me i need you to need me [ both laugh .]
i'd love you to love me oh, i'm begging you to beg me i'll shine up my old brown shoes i'll put on a brand-new shirt i'll get home early from work if you say that you love me didn't i, didn't i, didn't i see you cryin'? Wow.
oh, didn't i, didn't i, didn't i see you cryin'? oh, i'm feeling all alone without a friend you know you feel like dying oh, didn't i, didn't i, didn't i see you cryin'? i want you to want me [ rhythmic clapping .]
i want you to want me [ chuckles .]
[ cheers and applause .]
Oh, no.
Oh, my god.
No! No, no, no! [ laughs .]
[ cheers and applause .]
Don't listen to him.
He's gonna try to seduce you, okay? Please do not approach the artist.
I know what to do with you, okay? Blake, you are a shameless and heartless man.
I knew he was gonna do that.
I hate that you did that.
I'm gonna fight you hard on this one, man.
I'm going team gwen all the way.
What's your name? My name is morgan frazier, And i'm 22 years old and i'm from nashville.
Oh, god.
[ laughter, cheers and applause .]
I pushed right away because i could tell That you had a real honesty in your voice.
And the fact that you chose that song and did it that way Is just ridiculously creative.
That should be a country love song.
You are really a smart girl.
Yeah.
Yes, it was done country, and, yes, you are country, But you did a cheap trick song, Which is super cool and totally not country.
I'm saying this is an even race right now.
Let's think outside the box a little bit, all right? I think that adam's totally right.
I do know how to be creative.
I've had so much experience.
I mean, i've been in a band since i'm 17 years old.
I've written all my songs.
[ cheers and applause .]
What could he do for you that i can't do? Nothing.
He can do nothing.
Honestly.
For god sakes, did you not hear that voice? Gwen: I heard it.
That voice had That's what made me turn my button first.
Ashley monroe in it.
That voice had emmylou harris in it.
It was fragile.
It was powerful.
Stay with us, morgan.
Stay over here.
Asolely -- [ laughter .]
Focus.
Stay over here.
It was absolutely, 100% country from her heart.
The first concert i ever went to -- When i was a little girl, i got to go see emmylou harris.
I love that music.
I love music that has truth and that has honesty And that tells a story, you know? That's what i love.
[ cheers and applause .]
Yeah! Let me get this -- i just want to be clear with you here.
Gwen, in her lifetime, has been to a country concert.
[ laughter .]
I put on country concerts.
[ cheers and applause .]
Morgan, what's your heart say? 'and then there's theyour heart.
Ind, Listen to your mind.
[ laughter .]
Who's gonna be your coach? [ dramatic music plays .]
[ audience shouting .]
I got the hometown crowd rooting against me.
Come on, morgan.
Come home.
I've always gone with my gut feeling, And i feel like my gut feeling is telling me That i pick blake.
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger yes! stand a little taller unbelievable.
doesn't mean i'm lonely when i'm alone Blake: Got my first artist.
One of the things i love about morgan Is i can tell that she's a creative artist, Because she took that song and completely made it her own.
I'll try to steyes!Oell that she's a creative artist, Gwen fought really hard for me, But i've loved country music since i could talk, And blake is one of my heroes.
I've been watching him since he had a mullet.
[ laughs .]
Her mind may have been telling her blake, But her heart, it felt like -- Yeah, but i feel like, you say, "think with your heart," And it goes straight over here.
Gwen: Morgan was just so creative.
I could've definitely used her on my team.
I'm mad about that one.
You are smart.
I'm gonna try to learn from you this season.
Oh, great.
He's about as smart as a mule.
[ laughs .]
Daly: Coming up you can buy me diamond earrings Daly: More artists can i lay Daly: Blow our coaches away.
Oh, my god! That is awesome.
Yes! My heart is pounding right now.
Daly: D later, emotional moments [ crying .]
but now i'm here, and this is my second chance.
Daly: That bring our coaches to their feet, Fighting hard for the artists they want.
Wow.
That sounds like a battle to me.
Are you kidding me? One-on-one.
Oh! Daly: Put yourself in our coaches' chairs.

I'm amanda ayala.
I'm 17 years old.
I'm from mahopac, new york, and i was born to rock.
[ laughs .]
When i was younger, my mom and dad Would always be playing these rock songs from the '80s.
And i feel like the music back then had more heart and meaning, So i felt more connected to it.
I re of the rocker in the family than mom.
I don't think so.
[ chuckles .]
Her love for rock 'n' roll Is from my introduction to pat benatar and joan jett.
And we would play the music in the house.
When i was 12 years old, i joined my first rock band.
It wasalled dead end.
We would do songs from led zeppelin to guns n' roses.
We would just perform all around town, And i think people were so amazed that we were so young And taking on these song choices.
Two years later, We got our first show in new york city at the bitter end.
It was a big venue.
So many great artists got their first starts there.
It was absolutely amazing.
Thank you guys very much! I just graduated high school, And it's really a tough decision To figure out whether i go to college or pursue more musi My parents want my education to be my priority, But a chair getting turned would prove that i have what it takes To really make it in the music industry.
For my blind audition, I will be singing "mississippi queen" by mountain.
I think the coaches might be surprised Seng a 17-year-old singing such a song, But i think classic rock really captures me.
I've been watching the show since season 1, And coming here is definitely a dream come true.
One coach i would love to work with is gwen.
She knows what it's like to be a female rocker, And i've never had any really coaching Besides my mom just telling me at sounded good.
So this is something that i definitely need.
Rock the mike, baby.
Come on.
oh, mississippi queen if you know what i mean oh, mississippi queen she taught me everything you know she was a dancer she moved better on wine while the rest of them dudes was a-gettin' their kicks brother, beg your pardon, i was gettin' mine oh, mississippi queen Come on.
Amanda: if you know what i mean oh, mississippi queen she taught me everything well, this lady, she asked me if i would be her man you know that i told her i'd do what i can to keep her lookin' pretty buy her dresses that shine i like that.
while the rest of them dudes was a-makin' their bread brother, beg your pardon, i was losin' mine yeah, yeah, yeah mississippi quee-e-e-e-e-e-n [ cheers and applause .]
Yeah! She did it! She did it! Oh, thank god.
Thank you.
What's your name? My name is amanda ayala.
I really hope those are cowboy boots.
I can't tell from here, man.
Nope, nope, nope, nope.
I wish they were.
Gosh, they're not, are they? Those are chunky fashion boots.
Those are not cowboy boots, technically.
Amanda, how old are you? I'm 17.
[ cheers and applause .]
whew! Wow.
What?! That's crazy.
I'm just so curious How a 17-year-old girl would choose that song.
I've always been listening to classic rock with my mom, So it's, like Yes! Yes! Something i've always wanted to pursue.
Adam: Also, for the record -- Classic rock, not country.
Just -- Yeah, but I am a classic, so Oh, my gosh.
[ laughs .]
I was hearing a little bit of the youth in it, You got all these people bto turn for you.
Ns.
Thank you so much.
[ cheers and applause .]
You had a very beautiful tone, and it's super powerful And you put a lot of feeling into it.
But i would love to see -- if we're on the first floor, How do we take it to the second level? Are you interested in that? Oh, yeah.
[ laughs .]
[ cheers and applause .]
Hello.
Do not look him in the eyes.
Hey.
Did you say where you're from? I'm from new york.
Adam: Ha! That's very far away from all of your places.
There's a lot of country and woods out there.
[ laughter .]
just one little part that's the city, And the rest of it's all country and hills and nature.
That's a stretch.
But i'm so impressed that you're 17 years old And you want to do classic rock.
I don't have anybody on my am like you.
These guys have tons of people, Hundreds of people jliou their .
At That's a straight-up lie.
Lies-a minnelli.
[liza.]
Sir lies-a-lot.
First of all, you're not even allowed Hundreds of people on your team.
[ laughter .]
Realize the lies.
Realize the lies.
It would be a lying shame if you went to his team.
No, but seriously, can i tell you one thing? We were late 'cause we were listening so intently To what you were doing.
Yeah.
And then it got better and better, And the last note that you hit, you never gave up on it, And that was another thing that showed your strength.
You're also 17 friggin' years old, which is crazy.
When you're 18, The progress that you're gonna make is so obvious to me.
[ laughs .]
And so i want to help you make that progress.
[ cheers and applause .]
Are you gonna pick a guy whose big breakthrough just then Was that he knew that because you're 17, You're going to turn 18? [ laughter .]
You're not the smartest.
That just happened on this show, on tv! You -- Well, look, theye going to argue.
I'm not.
I would love to work with you.
Choose the one that you want.
[ audience shouting .]
To be honest, i walked in here Thinking i knew what i wanted to do, and -- Welldo us a favor.
Tell us who you thought you were gonna come in here -- No, d-d-d-d-d-d -- no, stop that.
Why? She can tell us after, man.
That is true.
Okay, cool.
[ laughs .]
All right, uh [ dramatic music plays .]
I pick adam.
Oh! i love rock 'n' roll [ cheers and applause .]
so put another dime in the jukebox, baby i love rock 'n' roll I picked adam because he's in a band, as well.
He knows rock music, And i feel like he just was my biggest fit.
And i just -- i just feel so good right now.
Adam: Amanda kept getting better, And i think that's a really good testament To her ability for the show, 'cause you got to have nerves of steel.
Wait.
Who was your choice? Gwen.
But you didn't turn.
What? It was you.
Oh, my god! No! Oh! That's why i asked.
No! Gwen: She was gonna pick me, and then i felt really bad.
But i think what i'm looking for now Is people that really know How to deliver a song emotionally.
i don't let the great ones go [ chuckling .]
what is happening? I don't know.
[ laughter .]
daly: Coming up Dun-dun-dun-dun! Team gwen! Gwen fights hard I want what's different.
Don't fall for it.
Daly: In the most epic showdown yet.
I can help you with that.
It's no longer a care bear wrestling match.
I may not seem like the obvious choice, but i am.
Hey, "voice" fans.
It's christina grimmie here at the blinds.
And while artists are hitting the stage in the leather look, I'm hitting the wardrobe room to try it out myself.
On "the voice, Classic rock 'n' roll is making a comeback With motorcycle jackets and vests.
Fine.
Love this one.
Also on the rise, leather-like pants, Which i actually wore for my blind audition.

this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back.
My name's jeffery austin.
I'm 24 years old.
I'm from chicago, illinois, And i currently live in manhattan.
I'm excited.
It means the world to me to have my family here.
They've all, in their own little ways, Have helped me get here.
My grandmother taught me the keys on the piano.
My other grandma, nancy, sang with me.
Your dad helped you with singing, too.
You may not remember that part.
Jeffery: Growing up, my dad would make us sing with him These little songs that my grandma had taught him, But he passed away when i was 9 From a complication with his enlarged heart.
I think it's hard for kids To totally comprehend when their parent dies, Because they don't realize they're not gonna be there For all the major events in their life.
Jeffery: I, of course, wish my dad was at my "voice" audition.
To think that something that's so big And pa o l which is music, Is something that he never knew me to do.
For him to be able to see this would've been amazing.
He never saw my high school musicals, Where i was the padre in "man of la mancha," Christopher robin In "a winnie-the-pooh christmas tail.
" And then sword dancer for "brigadoon.
" I was embracing my talent, But, you know, not being sure if, you know, i was good enough.
In college, instead of studying music, I studied public relations.
And i think that has a lot to do with some of my insecurities.
And then, after colle, i got a job At a public-relations agency in new york.
But living in new york, Seeing all these people pursuing different dreams And i'm sitting at a desk job felt completely wrong.
I'm always, in the back of my mind, Wondering, you know, "what if?" Then i watched "the voice" last season, Wondand i said, "absolutely.
F?" I have to audition.
" He's done so well with his music in high school, And it's very special to see him continue that.
It's what he wants, and that's what's so important.
It's been six years Since i've performed on any major stage.
So i'm definitely a little nervous.
I was kind of scared The minute i found out that i could audition.
I took that chance, Because, growing up, i always thought, In the back of my mind, i would be this crazy pop star.
I'm getting to the point where i have to do it.
There's no opportunity out there like "the voice" That's going to give me is incredible for any singer.
As That's him.
yes, i do, i believe that one day i will be where i was right ere right next to you and it's hard the days just seem so dark the moon, the stars are nothing without yo told me not to cry when you were gone but the feeling's overwhelming they're much too stro-o-o-ng can i lay by your side? [ all cheer .]
next to you-u-u-u-u you-u-u-u-u, ooh-ooh-ooh and make sure you're all right i'll take care of you-u-u-u and i don't want to be here if i can't be with you toni-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght [ cheers and applause .]
I won! Whoo-hoo! What? Oh, my god.
What's your name, man? My name's jeffery austin.
Yeah, but who was singing? [ laughter .]
i know.
Oh, my gosh.
That's crazy.
Can i get to know you, like, a little bit? This is my first performance In like six years -- since high school.
[ cheers and applause .]
wow.
What are, like, your fav musical influences? I mean, i love sam smith, but john legend.
Adam, your concert was my first concert i ever went to.
Stop it.
Yeah.
You were just a kid, right? You were just a little kid? Shut up.
He's being nice to me.
What? No, i was like 16.
Now i feel like a double idiot that i didn't turn around.
I'm sorry.
I'm actually surprised that these dudes didn't.
I'm surprised.
Dang, dude.
I don't have a good excuse for not turning around.
I know i was into it.
That was, like, a perfect performance.
That was really great.
It was great.
And that is such a hard song to sing.
That has so many things happening in it.
You have so much in that voice of yours.
It's pretty amazing, and i just thought It was a really beautiful, beautiful performance.
Thank you so much.
That's, like, one of the greatest Signature aspects of a singer Is when they make a song their own.
Congratulations, and welcome to the show.
You're on team gwen.
[ cheers and alause .]
Thank you so much.
It seemed so strange to me because I totally feel like everyone missed the boat on jeffery.
I don't understand why they didn't push.
His voice sounds nothing like the way he looks.
That's always great, Because then that makes it just feel like, "what? You can do that?" [ cheers and applause .]
Jeffery: It's insane to me that i'm even doing this.
I'm so -- so happy.
I'm so pumped to be working with gwen.
I can really learn from her as a performer.
First performance i think thatin six years.
D wow.
Work on the most.
I can't believe nobody pressed.
Why didn't you turn around? I got to take it easy.
You know what i'm saying? Why didn't pharrell turn around? 'cause i got a dude that i just -- That was, like, right in the same arena.
Blake: Jeffery was amazing, And three of us sat here like idiots And didn't hit our button.
And i think we may all be regretting that Later on this season.
[ speaks indistinctly .]
Oh, i'm so proud of you, hon.
Just makes me proud and make his dad proud, Makes us all proud.
It's amazing.
He's great.
Listen, congratulations.
You got one.
I feel like there was no nervousness in his body.
No.
Like, he just was just, "i'm just singing a song.
" Listen.
He's going the distance.
Yeah.
Daly: Coming up here i go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o An epic four-chair turn that has our coaches blown away.
Dude, you were absolutely perfect.
You are so natural and so talented.
I want what's different.
Daly: And later I know you.
An artist has blake at odds with our coaches.
I don't trust grown men who roll up their jeans.
[ laughter .]
are you kidding me? These guys would be pushing down women and children.
This is what we're doing? [ chuckling .]
this is what we're doing.
this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
So far tonight, blake, adam, and gwen Have each picked up one artist, While pharrell has yet to add anyone to his team.
Gwen, you look like a fashion christmas gift.
Thank you.
Just like -- I thought it was more like superhero.
Yeah, it is.
It is.
Like, i'm gonna get my team -- Team gwen.
Perfect.
I mean, you're pulling out the stops this time.
I feel like 'cause this is my second time now, Like, it's a different feeling.
It's your sophomore year.
It's good.
And this guy with that face -- The girls, they get, like, seduced by him.
Look how cute he is, though.
He gets really uncomfortable, too.
Gwen: Yeah.
Even the back of his head is adorable.
I know.
Look at that.
Look at that.
How cute is the back of heahe has no bad angle.
[ sweetly .]
it's okay.
Yes, you are.
[ laughter .]
Daly: While our coaches get settled in, Let's meet this next artist.
My name's lyndsey elm, i'm 22 years old, And i'm from vacaville, california [ cow moos Otherwise known as cow town.
I graduated college with a degree in kinesiology, Which is the study of human movement.
And moved back home To save money and pay off a student loan.
So i startedorking For the family pest-control business.
We actually run a lot of the business inside our home.
I'm the one on the computer, entering in all the data While my mom takes care of the accounting.
My grandparents do the paperwork at the kitchen table, And my dad is the one that actually does the spraying.
Ron: We are absolutely lyndsey's number-one fan.
We'd hate to see her leave the family business, But she has bigger and greater things to do, And we can't wait to see what happens.
My family has really supported my music from day one.
One of the first songs that lyndsey ever sang Was the national anthem.
o, say can you see Although i loved music, I was more of the athletic kid growing up.
I played basketball from fifth grade All the way up until senior year.
[ cheers and applause .]
And then i got my guitar As my high-school graduation present, So the musical side of me really started to come out.
I played a couple gigs around town.
I decided, "put down the basketball, pick up the microphone, And let's give it a shot.
" My parents have sacrificed to build a business from scratch And be able to put food on the table, And to give this back to them [voice breaking.]
it means the world.
I love you.
So proud of you.
Thank you.
This opportunity is the coolest thing That has ever happened to me.
For my blind audition, i will be singing "lips are movin'" by meghan trainor.
I'm making this song my own version, With a stripped down, acoustic, soulful feel to it.
Being able to have a personal relationship with your coach Is something that is truly unique about "the voice," And if i could work with any coach, It would have to be pharrell, Because i feel like he would understand Where i want to go with my music.
I need this opportuny to really grow Into what i've been wanting to be as an artist, And i'm ready to just show them what i have.
Here she comes.
Man: Oh, my gosh! Whoo-hoo! [ laughs .]
Come on, lyndsey.
You got this.
You got this.

[ laughter .]
What's your name, and where are you from? My name's lyndsey elm, i'm 22 years old, And i'm from vacaville, california.
I was glad that i turned so early so i got to see that, Because it's refreshing to see someone that could be onstage, That has the personality with the movement And the presence with the voice.
Now that i'm a mother and i know what it's like To nurture somebody and support somebody And try to get them to be great, It's just something that's so fulfilling, And i could download wh'vlearned toou.
I'd love to work with you.
Wow.
I think it'd be a lot of fun.
It honestly means the world.
I mean, i've grown up Watching you and listening to you, And it really means a lot to get that from you.
[ sighs .]
wow.
Wow.
[ laughter .]
Lyndsey, how long have you been singing? Ever since i was 2 years old, But i didn't really gain the confidence Until, like, school, college, 'cause i was more of the athletic And academic type of person, so i played basketball.
Yes! Go, warriors! Um -- whoa.
Oh, sorry.
Take it easy.
[ laughing .]
sorry.
Do you write songs? I've started.
I have a notebook and journal fyou have three other coaches That are gonna pitch you And tell you why they're amazing, But songwriting is something i love to do, too.
Just saying.
[ laughter .]
So i'm gonna turn it over to the but then i'll be back.
[ laughing .]
you'll be back.
Sounds good.
I turn around, i see you playing guitar, You got a sweet hat on.
Thank you.
You're just kind of a badass, and i love that.
I love basketball.
I played basketball, And then i quit basketball to play music.
Sounds kind of like the girl version of me a little bit.
I think that the way you did that song Kind of already shows me a little bit About where you're coming from, And that's why i turned.
Thank you.
That, honestly, means a lot.
[ cheers and applause .]
First of all, sidenote, whatever, They used to call me "hook shot" shelton.
Okay? That's -- that's all i've got to say about that.
Oh, my god.
Listen.
Are you kidding me? Have you even ever touched a basketball? That sounds like a battle to me.
Okay.
One-on-one.
It's not -- guess what, pharrell.
We'll get to that.
Pharrell, it's not a battle.
I want to talk to lyndsey.
Y'all have all talked to lyndsey.
It wouldn't even be -- i ain't had a chance to talk to lyndsey.
Let me talk to lyndsey.
The fact that you took a song like that, And the way you jazzed it up and slowed it down, It's like, "oh, man, i never thought about that.
" Really does take it to a different place, And that's impressive to me.
Thank you.
And i like the freddy krueger hat.
That's awesome.
[ laughter .]
thank you.
For the record, he just compared you To a villain that kills people in their sleep.
Who was also a movie star.
That's true.
That's true.
You got a point there.
Freddy krueger is a very famous movie star.
Pharrell: So, blake talked about You having this amazing range and great choices in notes.
Adam talked to you about confidence, And gwen is talking to you about your journey, And i think what i would talk to you about is just comfort, Because i feel like the more comfortable you are, The more you will have your confidence, And the more you'll know exactly where you want to go On your journey.
Thank you.
Who do you pick as your coach? Oh, my gosh.
So tough.
[ audience shouting .]
[ chuckles .]
All four of you would be incredible to work with, And i appreciate everything that you guys have told me.
[ dramatic music plays .]
I pick gwen.
Whoa! i know you're lyin' 'cause your lips are movin' wow! Holy smokes! That was awesome.
Lyndsey: Yeah! if your lips are movin' i'm so excited to work with you.
if your lips are movin' That was like a blur.
Holy crap.
I can't believe this.
This is insane.
Thank you.
Whoo-hoo! I get a shirt.
Thank you so much.
Oh, my gosh.
Going in, i thought pharrell, But then just what gwen was talking about Really spoke volumes to me, And she's the best fit for me for what i need right now.
She's great.
Gwen: What i loved about lyndsey is She really knew how to bring her personality Out through the song.
I can't wait to get to know her And see what -- what chemistry we're gonna have.
[ laughs .]
don't you know i'm done? Daly: Still to come, the gloves come off I did win last season.
Oh, my god! Daly: As our coaches fight for what they want.
We can battle it out.
Step away from the artist.
I'm desperate.
Really?! And later All right.
A first for a duo on "the voice.
" no! [ cheers and applause .]
Oh! What just happened? Wow.
Daly: Plus, you can see Oh! Blake and adam's basketball challenge And more behind-the-scenes videos On nbc.
Com.
Good shot.
this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back.
My name is joe maye, i'm 23, And i'm from baltimore, maryland.
I come from a rather large family.
There's me, my mom, my dad, my two sisters, and my nephew.
How do you think he's gonna do? You don't know? [ chuckles .]
My nephew is 6 years old.
He's the son of my older sister, tiffanie, and his name's gabe.
It's kind of tough being a single mom.
Having joe around is more like gabe having a big brother.
I can see a lot of myself in him.
He's watching everything that i do, So i'm very cognizant when i'm around him To show him you can follow your dreams, Do whatever it is that you want to do, Just like my choice to do music.
When i was in middle school, I would be in the back of the class, Writing songs, like, listening to music.
Definitely joe was never shy.
He was always acting in shows for school and church.
He's always been a star.
My first job was on an entertainment cruise ship.
So people would come on and they would eat dinner And we'd perform for them.
And you'd just be singing to, like, the people, Like, and you get down And they have, like, their phones.
It was really corny.
It got me comfortable with singing, But i knew that it was like, "this is not really me.
" I started getting a band together.
We do pop, we do rock, and we also do hip-hop.
One of the reasons why i really like To do different kinds of songs Is because i'm able to become These different characters onstage, And it's very similar to, like, theater.
As a kid, i would've never imagined Being on this platform and being able to perform In front of all these amazing coaches.
For my blind audition, I am gonna be singing cameo's "word up!" It's from the '80s, and it's totally different.
I can definitely dig that.
Whether i get a chair turned or not, Today, to make my nephew proud, I just need to perform at my very best.
Oh, my god! [ chuckles .]
Look.
Please, something good.
Come on, y'all! Hey! ow hey, yeah yo, pretty ladies around the world got a weird thing to show you so tell all the boys and girls tell your brother, your sister and your mama, too we're about to throw down and you know just what to do wave your hands in the air like you don't care glide past the people as they start to look and stare do your dance, do your dance do your dance quick, mama come on, baby, tell me what's the word word up, yeah say, everybody say hey Oh, hit the button.
when they call you know you've got to get it underway word up yeah, it's the code word yeah.
and no matter how you say it you'll know that you'll be heard say, "word up" Yeah! Come on! say, "word up" yeah, yeah yeah, yeah [ cheers and applause .]
[ sighs .]
Aww.
[ cheers and applause .]
Wow.
Hey, man, what's your name? I'm joe maye.
Were you dancing? Were you, like, full-on -- I was dancing a little bit.
I can't help myself.
Yeah.
I move.
I move.
Well, that's o -- That's okay.
But you got to be so out of breath during that performance, And we need to hear the best of your ability singing.
You know what i'm saying? Yep.
Pharrell: While i love cameo, It's like a groove kind of record, And you have a super-soulful voice.
What made you choose that song? I'm a big cameo fan, and i -- You know, i love that, like, '80s, like, pop vibe.
So what i was trying to do was bring that to life, Like flip it a little more And do a little more than he did vocally.
I actually really liked the song choice, But that might've been a better song choice Had you not been dancing around too much And had you been digging into the vocal more.
Yeah.
Gwen: One thing you can try Is when you are practicing your vocal is to run around, 'cause that's how you get that stamina.
You can get stronger at it if you do practice that, so -- Absolutely right.
Thanks for coming, man.
Thank you guys so much.
[ cheers and applause .]
hey, man.
Good luck to you, man.
Joe just got out here and had a great time, But i'm waiting to push my button right now, Because i want to just hear something That completely blows me away.
[ cheers and applause .]
I'm pretty disappointed in my performance, But i'm grateful for this opportunity.
The coaches gave great feedback.
Oh.
[ chuckles .]
I know, right? You did a great job, though.
Thank you, guys.
It's definitely not the end of music for me.
I will continue to go after, you know, what is mine.
Man, if he would've just sang a stevie wonder song, We would've pressed our button.
Damn it.
He should not be going home.
Daly: Coming up here i go again on my own Daly: More unbelievable performances running like a child Daly: And later What in the hell Is wrong with you three?! This is what we're doing? Daly: Blake takes matters into his own hands.
You seem like a man's man, and i want a man.
Oh, my god! this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
Daly: We're in new york city.
I'm on my way to meet manny cabo.
Manny's 45.
He's a photographer.
But a career in singing is his real focus.
Keep the chin up.
Keep the chin up a little bit.
Perfect.
Hold it.
My name is manny cabo.
Currently, i'm a freelance and commercial fashion photographer.
Perfect.
I've had the pleasure of being published in major magazines Like maxim, inked magazine.
I've done submissions for calvin klein, Kenneth cole Amazing.
Yay! But it's my life-long dream to rock the stages.
Is this photography a full-time job for you? Absolutely.
I try to juggle my photography life As well as my performing.
I sing in cover bands.
Photography is my 9:00-to-5:00.
When did you start music? Probably about fifth grade.
Started playing drums.
But i never really pursued singing Until, like, my first year in college.
What song are you singing for us? Actually, it's a whitesnake song.
It's big.
It's high energy.
It's in my vocal register.
Awesome.
Good luck rocking, man.
Thank you so much.
Thanks, manny.
I grew up in the '80s loving rock 'n' roll.
Over the yrs, i've been in so many bands, i lost count -- Everything from r&b to spanish music.
One of the bands that i enjoyed most Was a very hard, in-your-face, rock type of band called sun, Very reminiscent of soundgarden.
My vocals made it more pop rock.
Ultimately, my musical career has been a set of hardships, One after the other.
And it's been very rewarding at the same time, Because that level of perseverance Is the only thing that keeps me real And keeps me true to myself.
I've been with my wife over 15 years, And it's a beautiful relationship that i have With my daughter nadia, who's 9 years old.
They are the light of my life.
[ laughing and screaming .]
I'm so excited i get to go to "the voice" And see my dad perform.
[ crying .]
he has been working really hard, And i'm really proud.
[ sniffles .]
Manny: I want to be a singer.
I want to be a performer.
At the same time, I want to take care of my family.
I work freelance, And pay's inconsistent and we struggle, And there's times i miss my mortgage payments.
You know? [ exhales slowly .]
I need "the voice," Because i'm on a mission to take care of my daughter, And this is my opportunity to do that.
I've had tons of opportunities with so many bands, But not at this level, And i need to let the world know that at 45, it's never too late.
Having any of these coaches could help me By tuning in on my sound.
This is my opportunity to go out there And establish myself as the artist that i want to be.
There he is.
Shh.
It's okay.
i don't know where i'm goin' [ audience cheering .]
but i should know where i've been hangin' on the promises with the songs of yesterday [ squeals.]
[ sobbing .]
'cause i know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams and here i go again on my own goin' down the only road i've ever known Oh, i'm going.
like a drifter, i was born to walk alone, yeah and i've made up my mind i ain't wastin' no more time here i go again on my own goin' down the only road i've ever known like a drifter, i was born to walk alone, yeah and i've made up my mind i ain't wastin' no more time here i go again here i go again, yeah here i go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o [ cheers and applause .]
[ laughs .]
Oh! He did it.
I've got a feeling this guy's done this before.
I do, too.
[ laughs .]
i don't know what it is.
A little bit.
What's your name, man? Manny cabo.
I'm from elizabeth, new jersey, So east coast boy.
Dude, you just literally turned this place Into, like, a hair-band concert.
[ cheers and applause .]
You're a great singer.
You got a great scream When you get up there in that falsetto.
It's like you don't have any hair, Anyou were doing hair-band stuff, man.
It was like [ cheers and applause .]
what the heck? I may not seem like the obvious choice for you As i'm a country artist, but i want to say this.
I don't trust grown men who roll up their jeans.
[ laughter .]
I'll take that advice.
I don't know what it is, man, But it's just like you see guys with -- [ chuckling .]
oh, wow.
You know, if there was an emergen-- If this building caught on fire right now Bro, is this -- really? Like, these guys would be Pushing down women and children to get, Because their jeans are rolled up, now.
[ laughter .]
I'm just saying.
You want a coach -- This is what we're doing? [ chuckling .]
this is what we're doing.
I'm desperate.
[ laughter .]
I just want to point that out to you, That you seem like a man's man.
Wow.
And And i want a man.
[ laughter .]
[ cheers and applause .]
I'm stretching.
I'm getting ready.
Well, roll thosen While you're at it, man.
[ laughter .]
Pharrell: I pressed the button because Your voice just kept going into different dimensions, And it was just undeniable.
It's been a long time Since we've heard a voice with such dynamics.
How old are you? I'm 45 years old.
Listen.
[ cheers and applause .]
It's not often that we have someone 45 years old Come in here and completely just level the room.
Welcome to the show, brother.
Thank you so much.
Pharrell's right -- i mean, the dynamics Were just what was so impressive and the power, But being able to control your voice in that way.
Manny, hearing yine crap out of that song specifically Ignites me, Because that's where i come from.
I was in a band With 16- and 17-year-old kids when i was at summer camp, And these kids were a lot older than me And they needed someone to sing high, 'cause they were doing twisted sister, guns n' roses, And all these cool songs from back then.
And you brought me to a place That is literally the roots of where everything started for me.
Aside from that, the power of what you do, The presence of how you perform, And it's shocking to find out you're 45 years old, Because you look 20, you sound 20, you act 20.
Like, my heart is pounding right now, 'cause i just know all the kinds of great things That we will have in common.
Oh, god, this is gonna sting If i don't get you [chuckles.]
on my team, 'cause, man, do i want you so damn bad.
That's flattering for me, man.
Thank you so much.
Who you gonna pick, dude? [ laughs .]
[ audience shouting .]
[ dramatic music plays .]
This has all beejust amaz.
I got four icons staring at me.
I mean, this is almost an impossible decision.
Um, as far as my choice Um this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back.
here i go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o Daly: Before the break, Manny cabo floored all four coaches.
Now he has the difficult decision Of picking his coach.
I mean, this is almost an impossible decision.
Um, as far as my choice I'm gonna pick adam.
don't need nothin' ye but a good time S! how can i resist? yes! ain't lookin' for nothin' [ grunts .]
but a good time what you think of those jeans? [ laughs .]
Blake: Maybe if i would've rolled up my jeans, Manny would've had a little more interest in me.
Congratulations, buddy.
I love '80s rock music, and it's not that often That you'll even find an artist on this show That's willing to go there.
And this guy, he's a master of it, And i lost him.
don't need nothin' but a good time how can i resist? [ grunts .]
love it! Adam: Manny's electricity is contagious.
To be 45 and to still have that kind of youthful spirit Look who i found, everybody.
He's gonna be a lot of fun to watch on this show.
The newest member of team adam.
Manny: Thank you, girls.
I love you guys.
Love you, too.
Manny: I feel truly grateful for this entire experience.
You sounded amazing.
Four chairs turned, And this just puts the icing on the cake for me.
Crazy voice.
His voice is crazy.
And then he went to the moon on that last note.
[ vocalizes .]
that is the hardest song For any man to sing in the world.
Yeah.
Really, though, Think about how talented everybody is this year.
You're on fire today, buddy.
Daly: So far tonight Thank you so much.
Adam and gwen have each picked up two artists.
Blake has landed one I'm ready for the next one.
While pharrell is still searching to add to his team.
Come on, come on, come on.
Let's see if this next singer Will be his first artist tonight.
I'm madi davis, i'm 16 years old, And i'm from mckinney, texas.
Ready? I am so ready.
[ chuckles .]
When i was younger, i always loved to sing, But i never knew if i was any good 'cause i had some hearing troubles.
I was born with fluid behind my ears, And they put tubes in, but the tubes came out, And it severely damaged my eardrums, And i ended up with significant hearing loss.
What was that time like? Do you remember it? I know you were young.
I just remember it being really tough.
You know, the teachers just thought i was slow, When, in reality You just couldn't hear them.
I just couldn't hear them very well.
Right.
When i finally had reconstructive eardrum surgery, Not only did i start doing better in school, I got this serious love for singing.
I'm very proud of her.
She's -- she's overcome a lot, and it's a real blessing.
She's an amazing kid.
In fifth and sixth grade, I joined the children's choir of greater dallas.
I was so lucky to be a part of that choir 'cause we ended up going on a trip to paris.
We got to sing at all these famous cathedrals.
I definitely wouldn't be here today If it wasn't for that really great experience.
Big day -- "voice.
" I am such a big fan of "the voice," And so getting to work with a coach would be crazy.
They're all professionals, And so opportunities like this don't come every day.
With a song like "it's too late" by carole king, There's a lot of pressure to stick to the original.
I made a couple tweaks here and there, But i'm hoping to prove That you can do anything you set your mind to.
[ clapping .]
Let's go! stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time there's something wrong here there can be no denyin' one of us is changin' maybe we just stopped tryin' [ cheers and applause .]
Yeah! Whoo! Yeah! Whoo! Yeah! and it's too late, baby, now it's too late though we really did try to make it Oh, yay.
[ inhales sharply .]
oh.
something inside has died and i can't hide it, i just can't fake it oh, no, no-no used to be so easy livin' here with you you were light and breezy, and i knew just what to do now you look so unhappy, and i feel like a fool and it's too late, baby now it's too late though we really did try to make it something inside has died, and i can't hide it i just can't fake it oh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh it's too late [ cheers and applause .]
Yay! What is your name? My name is madi davis.
How old are you? I'm 16.
Oh, my god! Oh, my gosh! It's voices like yours that really excite me.
And when people have that natural thing, It's just always so inspiring for music in general.
I have to fight really hard right now Oh, yes.
So i just have to say, About pharrell, girls like you that are young Get blindsided by his gorgeous face and his talent And his charm and smarts.
You are cute, by the way.
[ laughter .]
It's not a generic voice that you have.
Nobody could teach you how to have that style, And i understand that.
I think that you are so natural and so talented, And the fact that you're 16 is mind-blowing.
Listen, number one, super-kind comment about my face, But my face nor my charm pressed the button for you.
There was an attraction to what i was listening to That made me press the button.
Number two, i did win Ah, love it.
I love what's happening right now.
I did win -- It's no longer a care bear wrestling match.
Of course it is.
[ laughter .]
i did win last season, And i want what's different.
Don't fall for it.
Actually, me and pharrell are so similar.
We recognize that you are -- Come on.
Let stand up.
We're different.
We're different, right? No, look.
Look.
We don't look the same.
[ singsong voice .]
dun-dun-dun-dun! Team gwen! [ audience cheering .]
[ laughs .]
[ normal voice .]
one thing that's amazing is, like We're gonna battle it out.
I have to say -- I have to say I have got to work with a lot of different producers.
I have all the experience of working with him.
He's incredible.
So is she.
Gwen: But you're gonna be performing.
You're gonna be performing for tv.
It's a whole new world.
Have you ever done that before? Absolutely not.
I have.
I have.
You know what i'm saying? I can help you with that.
I mean, i have, too.
I have, too.
Hey, guys, why don't you step away from the artist? We both want youo bad that we joined forces [ chuckles .]
To come up here and just say, "who's gonna be your coach?" Yeah.
Okay.
[ audience shouting .]
calp you.
I prise.
UmUm I'm just a girl! I pick pharrell.
[ laughs .]
[ grunting .]
That was wrong.
So wrong! Thank you.
I chose pharrell because I admire everything that he's done.
I love how different you are.
I was so close to picking gwen, But i had the feeling that i needed to pick pharrell.
Congratulations.
Madi -- i'm mad about that.
I'm gonna have my eye on her for sure.
She's awesome.
I felt like madi was different, and i love her approach.
I just think her voice is just so interesting.
I cannot wait to learn more about her.
[ cheers and applause .]
[ laughs .]
Oh, baby, you did it.
I promised her i wouldn't cry, So i'm not doing very good.
He did promise.
There's a lot of crying.
I'm not doing very good.
But i'm just so proud of my little girl.
Oh, oh, oh.
She had a tough decision.
Like, you guys fought hard.
Well, she's good, man.
She was really good.
You know me, man.
I'm a sucker for an original tone.
didn't i, didn't i, didn't i see you cryin'? Daly: You can listen to full versions Of tonight's blind-audition songs on apple music Or buy them on itunes.
here i go again on my own your lips are movin' then you're ly-ly-lyin' Daly: Coming up, the biggest four-chair turn of the night.
You're a big, old boy.
Thank you, sir.
You are, too.
[ laughter .]
daly: And later I know you.
No! An unforgettable moment No! You won't want to miss.
Crazy.
this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
My name's caleb lee hutchinson, I'm from dallas, georgia, and i'm 16 years old.
I've always listened to music, but when i was real young, I started watching all "the karate kid" movies And decided i wanted to be a ninja.
And so i did tae kwon do for about five years, And i can disappear like that.
I'm not gonna do it, 'cause i don't want to freak y'all out.
When he was little, Caleb would walk into a room and everybody would just smile, And he was just always wanting to make people laugh.
Same as now.
You know, i just grace people's lives and just -- I'm just a pleasure to be around, no doubt.
[ laughs .]
you know? I'm not afraid to put myself out there.
I do a lot of impressions of country singe But i mainly do luke bryan.
we love who we love, and we want to have fun, yeah People either love it or hate it.
[ chuckles .]
I started singing when i was 9 or 10 And started playing the guitar when i was about 12.
I've gotten to open up for gene watson, The kentucky headhunters, bo bice, But doing "the voice" Would definitely be the biggest thing i've ever done.
Being it's the blind auditions, If they turn around and they see this guy, They're going to be very surprised That a voice with that much depth and that much soul Belongs to a 16-year-old kid.
There's not much opportunity for a musician where i'm from, And it's hard, because of my age, To get into most places.
What's cool about "the voice" is that, no matter what, You're gonna gain knowledge, And you're gonna develop as an artist.
The coaches are gonna hear the passion that i have, And i'm just gonna give them what i love to do, And i hope they like me doing it.
[ chuckles .]
Come on, boy! [ exhales sharply .]
looking back on the memory of the dance we shared 'neath the stars above for a moment all the world was right how could i have known that you'd ever say goodbye? and now i'm glad i didn't know the way it all would end the way it all would go the dance Come on, please.
Anybody, come on.
yes, my life it's better left to chance i could've missed the pain but i'd have had to miss the dance [ cheers and applause .]
Good job.
Hey, man.
What's your name? Caleb lee hutchinson.
I'm from dallas, georgia.
I'm 16 years old.
Whoa.
16? How is that possible? What is happening? You would've whupped My 16-year-old ass, i'll tell you.
Yeah.
[ laughter .]
I'm in shock that your voice sounds like that And you're 16 years old.
But when you were a younger child, Was your voice low? No, i had that high, squeaky voice.
See, i-i had the same thing, but mine just never changed.
[ laughter .]
It seems to be working out pretty good for you, though.
[ laughter .]
Caleb, you're a big, old boy.
Thank you, sir.
You are, too.
[ laughter .]
"you are, too.
" [ laughs .]
[ laughs .]
Man, you got a cool, country voice, And now it makes sense to me That you're -- you're just 16 years old, 'cause your voice is gonna get so much better In a short amount of time.
Your tone is good, But you were just this much under.
So if you just dialed it up just a little bit, Because, man, you're the real deal.
I thought you had a really rich voice.
The one thing that i think i did detect in it Is that you do sing with your heart.
That's half the battle.
And i feel like big bro here Is giving you some really good notes.
Come back and present that talent to the show again.
Thank you.
[ cheers and applause .]
Good to meet you, caleb.
I was really hoping if i got big enough boots I'd be taller than you, but it ain't working.
[ laughs .]
i got my big hair on today.
Yeah.
That's what it is.
Blake: I'm really glad that caleb didn't get mad That none of us turned our chair around for him, But the good news is he's six or eight months away From being ready for something like this.
He's that close.
Caleb: That was, without a doubt, The coolest thing i've ever done.
I really appreciate the advice they gave me, And i'm gonna take it home and just keep going.
Daly: While the coaches missed out on caleb, They did land a few more artists as the night went on.
Pharrell picked up powerful soul singer riley biederer now i am invincible no, i ain't a scared little girl no more You were just so in the pocket every time, And some of those runs were awesome.
Thank you.
and at most i'm sleeping all these demons away your ghost Daly: R&b artist cassandra robertson Found a home on team adam Wow.
Cassandra, this show is called "the voice.
" And i'll be damned if i'm letting you not advance here.
Congratulations.
You made it.
You made it onto "the voice.
" You can sing.
Whoo! You got to teach me some things.
And pop hopeful daria jazmin joined team pharrell.
buy-buyin' what you need, baby Vocally, i think there's some interesting things That we can do together.
Aah! Thank you.
Daly: Coming up, love is in the air, With one singer here on his honeymoon We left our wedding reception Because we found out they were having Local auditions in austin.
In the middle of your wedding? Yeah.
And another artist Oh! Are you serious?! Wow! Who pops the ultimate question.
Wha-a-a-t?! Did you say yes? this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
Chris: My name is chris crump.
I'm 31 years old, and i'm from baytown, texas.
I had a little bit of an interesting upbringing.
I was homeschooled from second grade.
So i like to say i was a grade-school dropout.
On top of being homeschooled, we were in a family band.
Our outfits were matching.
We would wear, like, the sweater vests.
At the time, i didn't know how [chuckles.]
"uncool" it was.
My first secular album was a creed album.
My mom cried, like, "oh, no.
My baby's changing.
" I was about 14 when i decided I want to play the electric guitar, And i want to be in a rock band.
Now, i have a love of all types of music, But i just love the melodies of pop.
So i'm singing "thinking out loud" by ed sheeran For my blind audition.
My wife is my world right now, And so it's a song that i can connect with.
How long have you guys been married? Four months.
Wow.
That's new.
Funny thing is, is we left our wedding reception Because we found out they were having local auditions In austin.
In the middle of your wedding? Yeah, like, we got married, did the cake-cutting, And then we were out of there.
That's it? What'd you do with you guests? They still partied.
You're kidding me.
Everyone's probably thinking, "man, they must really be ready to get out of here.
" [ chuckles .]
she was so cool about it.
She was actually encouraging of this whole thing, Which is another reason why i love her so much.
April: I think that it's important for chris to pursue his dreams Because he has an amazing voice, And i believe that he should just shoot for the stars.
In the south, we believe the man provides, And so i've been taking these horrible gigs Just so i can support us in any way possible.
I've been a carpenter -- grocery stores.
I've worked at a mortgage company.
I was a worship pastor.
I worked at a ladies' shoe store, Which was enlightening.
I sold tvs.
If any of my old bosses are watching right now, I admit, i was a horrible employee.
I'm sorry.
This is a huge opportunity for me, being on "the voice," Because this is the new platform.
It gives people the opportunity to actually be heard.
I would love to work with pharrell, And, of course, i've loved adam levine's music And maroon 5 forever.
It's not just my career that's on the line.
I just got married, and i want to support my wife.
All i can really do is give everything that i got.
There he is! There he is.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
when your legs don't work like they used to before [ cheers and applause .]
and i can't sweep you off of your feet will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? yeah He can sing.
will your eyes still smile from your cheeks? and, darling, i will be lovin' you till we're 70 [ blake chuckles .]
oh, darling [ screaming .]
yes! people fall in love in mysterious ways Yes! and i just want to tell you i am so, baby, now take me into your lovin' arms kiss me under the light of a thousand stars oh, darling place your head on my beatin' heart i'm thinkin' out loud maybe we found love right where we are [ cheers and applause .]
Whoo! Hey, dude, you were absolutely perfect Until you saw us start turning around, An then it was [voice cracking.]
"oh, my god.
" Yeah, that's true.
[ laughs .]
What -- what was -- what was it like? "oh, my god" Okay, never do that again.
[ normal voice .]
okay.
[ laughter .]
What's your name, man? My name is chris crump, i'm 31 years old, And i'm from baytown, texas.
All right! [ cheers and applause .]
There's a warmth to your voice in -- in the verses And it allows you to sound very emotional And it drew me in.
But then when you go into your upper register, 'cause of the way you're designed as a vocalist, It really hits you in the heart, man.
I may not seem like the obvious choice for you, but i am.
[ laughter .]
Well, i like the confidence.
I turned around 'cause i heard some really interesting, Like, self-identity, which is hard to come by these days.
I did hear a couple of transition things in there, But i think half of your brain was like, "finish singing this song," And the other half was like, "dude, i'm so excited.
" [ laughter .]
Welcome to the show.
Thank you.
[ cheers and applause .]
Adam: I think that you have the ability To really speak to a large audience And in a really legitimate, kind of genuine way.
And i love that about your voice.
If i was to be your coach, I would work less on the technical aspect of your voice, 'cause i think that you're really there, And more on your ability to get through the competition Without letting those factors affect you.
And as, hopefully, your coach in the future, I can say that's something i think we should focus on.
Awesome.
Thank you.
[ applause .]
I think that we were all feeling on that first verse, Like, "wow.
Somebody that can actually come out here And just be really intimate.
" Every song that i've ever written has been from my heart, And i feel like that's what people connect to, And that's what i connected to in your voice.
I'd love to work with you.
I'm fighting for my-- fighting.
I'm fighting.
Oh, we're making this difficult.
All right, dude, who you gonna pick? [ audience shouting .]
Well, first off, thank all of you for turning around.
[ shouting continues .]
Wow.
What's he gonna do? He's gonna make them wait.
What are you gonna do, babe? [ chuckles .]
[ shouting continues .]
You know, i'm gonna go with blake.
say geronimo yes! say geronimo say geronimo yes! I can't believe it.
say geronimo Yes! say geronimo Blake: There's nothing wrong with breaking down Emotionally onstage when you're performing.
I probably would've done the same thing If i was auditioning for this show.
Thank you.
It's gonna be a lot of fun.
You know, moving forward with chris, I've got a lot to learn about him, But i definitely love the direction that -- that he chose For his blind audition.
He's a guy that can stand out on my team.
say geronimo Chris: I wasn't expecting four chairs, to be honest, And i think that's what really shook me up.
I'm like, "whoa, whoa, whoa.
What do i do now? Finish the song.
" Here he is -- team blake.
[ cheering .]
[ laughs .]
I was thinking about my wife the whole time, And then when i saw the coaches turn, It was like that life that we've been wanting, All those things, they're -- they're finally happening.
Definitely feel like a dream's come true right now.
Have you ever seen "drunken master"? -[ laughing .]
yeah.
-About how the dude's wasted, But he's kicking everybody's ass? That's like blake.
Yeah.
He gets drunk, and all of a sudden, he karate-chops, And you don't even know what happened.
How does he think of such good things to say When he has alcohol brain damage? [ laughter .]
yeah.
Daly: Coming up whoa, yeah, yeah, yeah Daly: More unexpected performances oh-oh-oh-oh Oh, my god.
Daly: That have our coaches on the edge of their seats.
What just happened? Are you serious?! this is "the voice" Daly: Welcome back.
Tyler: My name is tyler dickerson.
I'm 21 years old from denham springs, louisiana.
I work with my dad at his fence company, c & s fencing.
Tyler helps me do estimates, Get the truck loaded up with the materials To get it out to the jobsite, And he's, all around, my right-hand man.
Tyler: I like working with my dad, But the job can be pretty grueling.
It's usually about 100 degrees every day, humidity.
Tough to see tyler out here Because i know that he was meant to be singing, And hopefully with "the voice" That he gets to pursue that further.
How did you get into singing? It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing.
We were walking out of a store, And there was this little group set outside.
My dad asked if i could get up and sing a song, And it just took off from there.
Tyler: I was known around florida as the outlaw kid.
My dad quit his job, made me his full-time priority.
I moved to nashville when i was 13.
I got signed by a record label.
John rich took me under his wing.
He was my manager, producer.
That's incredible.

Buddy, so proud of you.
One of the most talented kids i ever met in my life.
America's gonna fall in love with you, my man.
You got our support.
God bless.
Knock them dead.
[ chuckles .]
that is so awesome.
Tyler: I've been doing this since i was 9 years old.
Music is all i know.
There is no backup plan.
So i need a coach who's gonna see the true potential inside me And bring it out.
There he is.
[ chuckles .]
This is my second shot.
Aw, he's gonna do good.
Oh, yeah! Black crowes.

Did you have a record deal? I did.
Yes! I remember you.
Aww, man, now i'm wishing i pressed my button so bad.
[ laughter .]
Wow.
Tyler, your voice, man -- that was so clean.
It was just good to see somebody come out here And rock a southern-rock song like that.
Thank you so much.
That was cool.
What's your -- what's your story, man? I got signed when i was 15.
Yeah.
[ voice breaking .]
john rich became my manager, my producer.
And, um, when i was out on tour, i got a call.
It was the president of the label Saying that they were closing down.
And after that, i got into a bad car accident, Flipped my van over five times.
Wow.
And, you know, i had it all, And it was all taken away.
[ crying .]
but now i'm here, and this is my second chance.

His story is crazy.
That's crazy.
How did you know him? They were calling him, like, the next travis tritt.
I remember thinking, "i wonder who that kid is," And then i never heard anything else about him.
Wow, blake, you could help him.
He's a good singer.
Tyler's a strong, rangy vocalist, And he's gonna do well in this competition, Because he's one of those guys that'll go toe-to-toe With whoever you put him up against In the battle rounds.
Tyler: This is it, y'all.
I'm beyond excited to start this journey, with blake, especially.
This is my second chance.

My dad, steve, is one of the pioneers of outlaw country, And he wrote the song we'll be singing, "seven bridges road.

A lot of people don't know that.
They think the eagles wrote that song.
They didn't.
That's you.
Yeah, they said that a friend of theirs in san diego.
I'm not from san diego, and i wasn't their friend.
[ laughter .]
how dare they? Growing up with my father was always a trip.
One of my earliest memories is looking up at waylon jennings As he was walking through our living room.
And being in the middle of that world, i was hooked.
All right.
Steve: Oh, i think it's very cool That he's carrying on some of my traditions.
Give me five.
Okay.
And the backside.
You're gonna -- down low.
Too slow.
[ squeals .]
My daughter sophie just turned 9, And being a single parent Has certainly put a damper on touring, But it's the most rewarding thing I think anybody can ever do.
It's scary, it's amazing, And i wouldn't trade any of it for anything.

Jubal: Amanda is incredible with sophie, And sophie absolutely loves amanda.
She's all about it.
