Face Off (2011) s09e12 Episode Script
Death Becomes Them
It's not your best work.
I think this character's fantastic.
Beautiful design choices.
Thank you.
Previously on Face Off Evan's evolved human brought him to victory, but Stevie stumbled and was sent home.
Oh, Stevie.
And tonight, the artists are in for the shock of the competition.
I have to let you in on something.
This does put a little more pressure on me.
Okay, a lot more pressure on me.
I'm definitely ready to crush it.
We're down to the wire.
Yeah, I know.
I completely start over.
We're gonna be doing something that we've never done before.
He creeps me out something fierce.
It's an incredibly successful character.
In the end, only one will win a VIP trip from Kryolan Professional Make-Up to one of their 85 international locations, a brand-new 2015 Fiat 500, and $100,000.
This is Face Off.
Whoo! What's up, guys? Just talking about Stevie.
Just hanging.
Makes me so sad.
And I'm somehow still here.
After this bottom look, I thought that I was going home for sure.
It's just like one thing after another where we're having to, like, just dig deep.
The competition is really stiff, and I've got to kind of find it in myself to muster up all of that energy that I don't have.
It's our last two challenges before the finale.
I just want to do kickass makeup, so let's just have fun.
Being a special effects artist makes me happy.
This is what I'm more passionate about than anything else.
So the finale's definitely on my mind.
And I want it.
This is so freaking cool.
So we're at Universal right now.
This is awesome.
This is the coolest thing ever.
I've never been to a backlot before.
There's just so much rich history of film and makeup happening here, so it's a real honor just to be at Universal, and I cannot wait to hear what this challenge is.
Gravestones.
Hey, guys.
Hey.
Welcome to the Universal Studios backlot.
You recognize the house over here? A little.
Well, it might look a little different because Desperate Housewives gave it a facelift, but this is actually the original mansion from The Munsters, built in 1946.
Ahh.
How cool is that? That's awesome.
Now, a little side note.
The Munsters was one of the first shows that my dad ever worked on.
Oh, wow.
- Mm-hmm.
- What was that like? Well, working on a fantasy horror show was a blast.
My job was to make a new head for Herman every day and then make up Eddie with his new set of ears.
It was a lot of fun.
Now, monster families are nothing new to Hollywood, and franchises like The Munsters and The Addams Family have enjoyed success because of the audience's ability to relate to the dynamics of these unusual families.
Despite their colorful exteriors, underneath it all, they're basically just like the rest of us-- including the Westmores.
Exactly, including us.
Now, as you can see, we have gravestones in the yard over here, each featuring a unique type of family member for you guys to use as inspiration this week.
Your Spotlight Challenge is to choose one of them and create a quirky member of your own macabre family.
Awesome.
I love doing quirky characters, and The Munsters and The Addams Family are very iconic, so this is very exciting to know that we're gonna create something that's along those same lines.
So, when my dad calls your name, I want you to take a rose and put it in front of a gravestone to make your selection.
Nora, you're first.
- Oh! - Oh, man! Well, I am the black sheep in my family, so-- Okay.
I'm gonna do inappropriate uncle.
Oh, my God.
I got such a creep in mind.
I think I'm gonna go with a bully older brother.
Spinster aunt.
Got to do it for my dad.
Not that my dad was a real stiff.
All right, guys.
Now, I have to congratulate you all for making it this far in the competition.
Thank you.
But I do need to let you in on something.
Lay it on us.
This is the semifinal, and two of you will be going home this week.
That means that three of you that are still standing at the end of this challenge will be moving on to the finale.
This is really scary to me, because if I do bad on this, there's no chance to redeem myself.
- Evan, how are you doing? - Good.
You all right? Yeah, you didn't look okay there.
- You guys all ready for this? - Hell, yeah.
Now, I know that the pressure is on, but please, guys, remember to have fun with this one, - 'cause this is a fun challenge.
- Oh, yeah.
- Gonna have fun with this.
- Yeah, absolutely.
Perhaps think about someone in your own family who might help give your characters that little extra something.
This is the chance to really be creative with your fun side and the horror side and be able to blend 'em both together.
We'll come by the lab later on to check in and see how you're doing.
- Good luck and have fun.
- Thanks.
- Thank you.
- See you soon.
I think I'm gonna go with a demon bull guy.
How demon are you going? Is there, like, no shred of human in them at all or No, there's a shred of human, but Then yeah, as long as you have-- It's not, like, straight up like - Right, right.
- It's like-- It's gonna have a lot of human.
I think that's a cool idea.
I have bully older brother.
I'm going literal and making him a bull.
My idea is to do this mean-looking scary face because you want to be scared of a bully.
You don't want him to be like, "Hello," with a smile.
I'm going to give him a bull nose with the ring, bull horns, and then a really strong jock jaw, like he's about to just beat the crap out of you.
I was thinking about doing punked-out sheep anatomy in the face and stuff.
I'm probably the black sheep cousin in my family, so I think it'd be really fun to make that kind of character.
She comes from a family of satanic goats and sheeps, but she just doesn't quite fit in 'cause she's really bubbly and happy and totally like, "Yeah, my parents are Satanists.
It's awesome.
I love my parents and rainbows.
" It's all or nothing now, and I'm ready to just put everything that I have into this character.
I have the stern father, and this certainly makes me think of my dad.
He passed away the year I graduated from high school, and we all wish that we could bring back those we love, so I'm bringing my dad back as a zombie.
And I know that sounds weird and macabre, but it's my monster world, and I get to do it.
He's a lobotomized zombie that no longer craves brains, who still thinks that he's that stern father that's gonna rear his family.
Knowing that this is gonna be a double elimination coupled with the fact that this is a makeup that I want to dedicate to my father, it does put a little more pressure on me.
Okay, a lot more pressure on me.
It's time to go back to the lab.
Hello, Dad.
Whoo! I really want to get a lot of my face piece sculpted.
I've got a pretty solid idea.
This mean old spinster aunt who's always stuck babysitting her nieces and nephews, always bossing them around, and one day, they're just fed up with it.
They tie her up with all of her own knitting supplies and sew her mouth shut so that she can't boss 'em around anymore.
I need to stand out, so I want her to have more stylized cartoony wrinkles and saggy cheeks to make her look like a worn-down, bitter old lady.
Getting my shape in there.
That looks awesome.
The character I'm creating is kind of a caricature.
It's like an archetype of an uncle.
I just want to go for a creepy guy.
And so he brings his deceased wife to all kinds of different vacation spots.
I know I want him to have a big, funky nose and then a lower brow.
Having more amplified features, I think, is gonna help me create this quirky type of character.
Trying to give it, like, a creepy face.
You think that, along with a dead bride, would be reasonable? I have a feeling he's pretty creepy.
Hey, guys.
We're here to check in on ya.
How are ya? Nora, so remind us who you got today.
I had the black sheep cousin.
She can't help but look like them as far as her facial features and gothic-y coloring, so I was going back and forth between putting really crappy foundation makeup on her to make her look like she's trying to-- - I wouldn't.
- No? - No.
No.
- You think going with, like, dark fading into gray fading into pinks? Yeah, and keeping that lightness here because most of your goat-sheep is right there.
Okay.
So you don't want to start painting this black or dark colors and destroy all that.
Got ya.
I'm gonna play it like he's the first recipient of a zombie lobotomy that somewhat humanizes him, so he has all the attributes of Ward Cleaver but the look of the modern zombie.
I think you're going in a good direction.
You've got some good contours going in there, but I would say stay away from digging in too deep on this.
I would give him a little bit more health in here.
Mm-hmm.
So I got the spinster aunt.
Okay.
I was thinking about doing a bald cap just so I would have a way to actually apply these ears to it, 'cause I'm just gonna be doing these in slip cast.
Okay, then what you do-- take your sculpture back further, anchor it very quickly all the way around.
- Mm-hmm.
- Don't spend time blending.
And then you still will have that to anchor to.
Right, right.
I got the inappropriate uncle.
- Inappropriate uncle.
- Yeah.
He carries his long-lost love with him on vacation.
I just want it to read onstage, and that's the thing I'm worried about most.
Well, the nose is gonna read, for sure.
Your sculpture's really good, but I think maybe get a little whimsy into it.
Take this bone and bring it down from up in here.
Mm-hmm.
You know, you get that going for it.
Yeah, of course.
Just add a little bit of fun into it, 'cause I think that's what it's lacking.
Great.
My idea was, I heard bully, comes from a bull, and I wanted to do this bull demon.
I actually kind of like the nose that you're doing, but there needs to be something on a whimsical side, because this just painted by itself is-- - Like a devil.
- It's a demon.
Yeah, I was imagining it more with his whole outfit on.
- But it's a makeup challenge.
- Okay, yeah.
- We're down to the wire.
- Yeah, I know.
You got to put everything in there that's in the challenge.
- Okay.
Appreciate it.
- Good luck.
- Do it.
- Thanks.
- Good luck.
- Thanks.
After Mr.
Westmore tells me my sculpture looks too aggressive and too angry, I'm immediately worried.
I feel like if Mr.
Westmore doesn't like what you're doing, the judges aren't gonna like it, so I decide to completely start over.
I rip all the clay off of the face.
If I don't pull through on this, I'm definitely going home.
- Hey, what'd you do? - I started over.
What'd you do? I feel like maybe I missed the mark on this challenge.
Gonna give him, like, little baby horns.
Big guy, little horns.
I think it's fine.
So I'm gonna make a softer version of what I was doing, but it's just a matter of getting it to look as perfect as possible with whatever time we have left.
I just remember them saying, "Have fun with it," and I was at first.
Starting over is not fun.
So I'm gonna make mine with, like, a big smile so she'll have these, like, evil mad eyebrows and then make a little smile and it'll be, like, really happy.
She can't help but have this evil goat brow, but she's really happy.
Because this is the black sheep cousin, I want to sculpt her with the ability to make this really ridiculous, cheesy smile, like she cut it in herself to make her macabre and creepy.
I think that would just be a fun, quirky element to throw in.
Looks very smiley.
Good.
For the nose, I want to add a lot of texture, and so I make a clay slurry, and I load it into a syringe and pipe it onto the nose so that there's big lumps, and then I'll also add pore detail.
And the reason I'm doing that is just to add another element of grossness and weirdness to the character.
That's time, guys.
All right, dudes.
- Let's get out of here.
- Let's go.
- It's dark out.
- Whoa.
- Whoa.
- Hey.
Whoo! one, two, three, four Looks great, dude.
Yesterday was crazy.
I wasted a lot of time, so today I need to get my face piece molded right away, because I still need to start my cowl.
one, two, three, four As my mold's curing, I start blocking out the cowl, and I want to add these really big muscles up here to give him, like, a big pipe neck, which will help sell the jock sports guy.
Also, I'm gonna give him these little ears to make his head look bigger.
So far, I'm pretty happy with the shape.
And hopefully the judges like it as well.
Once I get the face piece in mold, I start on the hands because he's a zombie, so I want to have accentuated knuckles and finger bones, so it looks thinner.
Gives the illusion of a zombie hand and he's gonna have a bite or something like that because Dad might have gotten bit by Mom.
Maybe it was a love bite gone wrong.
But I don't want it to be more.
This isn't Walking Dead, it's Walking Dad, so I want to keep it a little bit lighter.
Megan's got the smallest head out of all the models, so that's something-- I might just have to wait and figure out when she gets here.
Wait for what? Have to wait for my model.
Bullshit.
It's not.
She's got a little head.
Looks like somebody needs some initiation.
Because the inappropriate uncle is a caricature, I want more of the anatomy of the character to be the quirky part and the hair to be more realistic.
What kind of haircut are you gonna give him? He's gonna be balding, but he's gonna have, like, little tufts here and there.
Because I'm balding myself, I think male pattern baldness is funny.
He's gonna hang on her back, like, pulling the yarn.
- Look like he's tying her up.
- You're fine.
I love it.
With the time I have left, I'm gonna fabricate my little nephew character that's gonna go on my spinster aunt.
I'm creating the entire body out of armature wire.
Then I go in with cotton and latex to give it that skin texture.
It's a creepy-looking little weirdo.
That's time, everybody.
It's really wild to think that tomorrow we'll know who our finalists are.
All right.
Ugh, that was a hard day.
I'm ready to take this shit home.
Like, I am just-- I'm ready to crush it.
This came out pretty good, I have to say.
Nice.
Whoo! - What's up? - Yeah, buddies.
Oh! Oh, I'm so glad you're here.
I know, I'm so glad I got you.
So you are a weird old lady.
My God.
You're the inappropriate uncle.
You've had the first zombie lobotomy.
This application day is very important on many different levels.
I'm gonna start getting this all laid down.
It's the semifinals, so I want it to reflect my abilities as an artist.
But it's also about a makeup that I'm dedicating to my father, so it has to be flawless.
I'm excited that all of my foam looks perfect.
The edges are clean.
Everything is lining up perfectly.
Ah, perfect.
I think I'm gonna pull this one up and move it back a little bit.
I get the face all laid down, and I notice that there's definitely some issues.
There's a little fold-- a little wrinkle happening on the actual face.
So I peel this one side up and reapply it.
This is semifinals plus double elimination, so the stakes are higher than ever.
I'm gonna do whatever I need to do to put the best work possible out there in front of the judges.
All right.
You ready? I've never had to do an ethnic makeup before, so this paint job is gonna be very difficult.
It's really difficult to match darker skin because there's a lot more color variation.
So I start adding highlights and dark tones to make sure that there's a clear breakup.
I want it to look somewhat believable and creepy.
Starting to come together.
I get everything applied.
Since it's such a flat skull, there's not a lot of wrinkles, so-- I don't know.
I'm lost on the paint.
I have no clue.
Does this look like the pug? It's just 'cause you did the blue again, yeah.
As soon as I'm done covering him, I go, "Oh, my God.
This thing looks exactly like my old dog man that I did for the wedding.
" It looks exactly like your bulldog.
I love that bulldog.
Holy crap.
Nora, how I can I fix this? You got to take it out of that blue-pink spectrum.
Because we're running out of time, I just do this real quick rush job on it to try and fix it.
It's not terrible, but I wasted a lot of time, and I'm worried that I might not be able to get it done in Last Looks.
Time is winding down at the lab.
I've got a decent amount of paint put onto her face.
My one concern is that it's too bright.
This could be my last chance to show the judges what I can do.
I'm worried that it reads too cartoony.
As I look around the lab, everyone's characters look a little more on that realistic scale.
I'm feeling a little bit outcasted right now with the type of character that I've got.
That is time, guys.
Whoo! We're done.
I'm really worried about my makeup, 'cause with this challenge, you really can't shoot for safe.
You're either top looks, or you're going home and you're not in the finale.
And this could be the style that sends me home.
There is definitely a different tone in the room.
No one is safe.
There are either winners or losers, and it's very important that I get to that finale.
So my paint job has to be flawless.
I know.
My biggest concern at this point is her standing out from all the other makeups, so I start toning back my paint job just so it's not so bright.
I take some white and just start misting that over top of the entire character.
I just hope I work fast enough, because it all comes down to this.
This is my last shot to make it into the finale.
I'm so close.
I can taste it.
I need to get my hooves applied and then paint the tips of her hooves bright, obnoxious neon pinks and greens to make it look like really bad nail polish.
I'm not holding anything back on this challenge.
All right, let's get some hair on you.
It's a lot of work to get his mustache on.
I need to get the hair on.
I need to get chest hair on.
I really want a spot in the finale, and I think maybe I could get it with this makeup.
My paint job is pretty bad.
I'm really hoping I can save it by hand-painting some of the finer details like the wrinkles that got lost up here with this patterning.
When the finale's just one elimination away, these are the mistakes that you can't make.
Ten minutes, guys.
All right, guys.
That's time.
I would love to have the chance to continue, but I'm convinced that this makeup is probably gonna get me eliminated.
Welcome back to the reveal stage.
As you know, two of you will be going home tonight while the three left standing will be headed to this season's finale.
Before we get to business, let's say hello to our series judges.
Owner of Optic Nerve makeup effects studio, Glenn Hetrick.
Good evening.
Hey, Glenn.
Oscar and Emmy award winning makeup artist Ve Neill.
- Good evening, everybody.
- Hi, Ve.
And creature and concept designer Neville Page.
- Hi, guys.
- Hello, Neville.
Okay, this week your Spotlight Challenge was to create a quirky member of your very own macabre family using The Addams Family and The Munsters as inspiration.
So let's take a look at your creations.
I'm very happy with the way that he's presenting.
My dad had a great sense of humor, and I think that this is making him laugh a little bit more, wherever he is.
It does read bully, but the application and the paint job is pretty bad.
I'm not happy with it.
He looks hysterical.
He is a total creepo, and it's everything that I ever wanted to see out of this character.
She's fun, and she's quirky.
She looks great to me, but all these other makeups look great to me too.
She looks like she's been attacked by her nephews.
And she's also my style, but I just don't know if it's gonna be what fit the challenge the best or not.
Okay, judges.
It's time to take a closer look.
I do like some of the formwork on the nose and the brow.
Other than the edges around the mouth, it's all pretty solid.
There's some color issues.
Yeah.
This is all kind of really crazy in here too.
Okay.
Let's take these off and just take a look at the makeup itself here.
The big forms are really good.
I love that bit on the hand.
- Yeah.
- Successful.
Just a little bit more time painting would've been really great.
It could use a lot more decay and rotten spots with some hard veining just here and there.
But other than that, I love it.
It's pretty cool.
You are so wrong.
It's like George Jefferson zombie went on vacation.
Look at all this great texture in his nose, his chin.
It's a little rough in areas that I don't think it should be, but this treatment of the hair is fantastic.
He's creeping me out.
- This can be you.
- Oh, thank you.
- Yes.
- I got to get out of here.
Yeah, I'm creeped out.
Mm-hmm.
It's a beautiful profile.
I really like that line.
That's really cool.
It's interesting, but it feels a little out of place.
I actually kind of like the pink coloring.
'Cause this is some beautiful color transitions.
These peachy tones around the eyes, but I'd love to see these dots worked up a bit more to bring the darker tones into the lighter tones.
It doesn't matter how much I like my makeup.
The only thing that really matters is if the judges like it.
I'm not sure about these hands.
Yeah, looks like a boxing glove.
The stakes are higher than ever, and I don't want to go home at this point.
I've come too far, and I'm so close.
I can't help but worry.
All right, guys.
It's time to get on Twitter and tell us who made your favorite quirky, macabre family member using #FaceOff I'd love to see these dots worked up a bit more.
And some smaller, more defined modeling to bring the darker tones into the lighter tones, and this would be spot-on.
The stakes are higher than ever, and I don't want to go home.
I've come too far, and I'm so close to the finale.
The greatest thing about it is you look at it and you do want to know more.
This is so over-the-top cartoony for what we asked for.
I'm not sure it's right for the challenge.
I agree, Glenn, but I want to applaud it because it's unwavering in its direction.
It's really pretty coloring.
The idea of the spinster aunt and, like, taking that and tying her all up, that's pretty cool.
Thank you.
Okay, the judges would like to hear from each of you before choosing this season's finalists.
Evan, please step up.
'Sup? Evan, tell us about your bully older brother.
He's just a jock douchebag-y football guy, and I tried to make him literally a bull.
The concept is right on.
But my big problem with it is the edges around the mouth and some of the coloring.
It's blotches of color, and it needs to be more well-synthesized.
I agree.
Yep.
Let me ask you something.
Does he have a solid cowl on the back of his head? Yeah, he does.
It goes all the way back.
So you covered a lot of ground that you covered up.
- Yes, ma'am.
- Oh, too bad.
I would really like to see it without a wig.
Oh.
It probably is pretty cool-looking.
C'est la vie.
The sculptural form is good, particularly around the nose.
I love your horns, but it does come down to the paint job.
The scale and patterning that you've chosen camouflage some of the good stuff that's going on.
Yeah.
Evan, if you'd please step back.
Scott, please step forward.
Hi, Dad.
Tell us about your stern father, please.
Well, this is our strict dad.
He was a real stiff in life but underwent a zombie lobotomy to make him a little more domestic.
He's the new star of Walking Dad.
Walking Dad.
Excellent.
He's a great character, and he's got a fabulous comb-over.
But I really would've liked to have seen a little bit more color because he's just a little too petrified-looking, you know what I mean? Yeah.
Maybe some highlights so that it would have shown off some more of your sculpting, because there's some great stuff going on in this.
This is solid work.
It's beautifully sculpted, but I would have loved to have seen a little bit more of a comedic edge to it.
I absolutely love what you did.
There's a beautiful subtlety to your sculpture, but it needs contrast.
So, for instance, you've got this thing on his head.
You can work lividity into that and then push the eyes back and make them look a little more sunken in.
One or two spots like that would really bring this thing to life.
Other than that, I think you've done a beautiful job with this.
Thank you guys very much.
Scott, if you'd please head back.
Thanks, man.
Thank you.
- Hey, buddy.
- Good, thanks, man.
Ben, you're up.
Just tell me, what's this all about? So this is my inappropriate uncle.
Oh.
He goes on vacation with his deceased wife and seemed pretty inappropriate.
The thing that's so painfully and overtly clear is the success of creepy.
The little moments of amusement-- these ears, hairline, forehead-- you've really done such a great job of creating a stylized character.
It conveys the creepy uncle so extraordinarily well, and that makes it a success in my book.
Thank you.
I do wish you would have thrown some veining or some broken capillaries on that paint job, so he looks like something is happening to his skin that is more or less than natural.
Would have made this even more successful.
Very happy with what you've done this week.
Thank you very much.
I have seen old men with noses just like that, heads just like that.
I think you've done a really good job of capturing that texturing around those areas.
He creeps me out something fierce.
Mission accomplished.
Ben, please step back.
Great job.
Nora, please step to the center.
Nora, tell us about your black sheep character.
She comes from this very occult-driven, you know, "My parents are Satanists" family, and she can't help but be this, like, eternal optimist, and she doesn't really fit in with them.
Splendid work.
Great character.
I wish there was a nicer transition between the two colors to bring those dark tones into the light, but that's it.
- I love it.
- Thank you.
I think you would've benefited by doing a slit here.
It would have helped this from popping.
And you could've just painted dark inside there.
But I love the shape of her nose.
I like all the beautiful work that you did around her eyes, and I like the choice of the pink, because it makes it really feminine and really sweet.
Nice job.
Thank you.
I think there's some beautiful sculpting going on here.
The profile, particularly coming right out of the lip on the tip of the nose into the forehead is gorgeous.
It's a beautiful makeup.
Thank you.
Nora, you can head back.
- Good job.
- Thanks.
Jordan, you're up.
Okay, I got to hear the story about the spinster aunt.
So this is me and Irene.
When she's babysitting her nieces and nephews, she's always bossing them around, so one day they tied her up with all of her knitting supplies and sewed her mouth shut so that she couldn't boss them around anymore.
It's different, and I love this color you chose.
She is very cartoony, but my main concern is the fact that she is so reminiscent of so many of your other characters that you've done.
You have to get a little bit more versatile with your looks, 'cause you won't have much range otherwise.
Thank you.
I like the deep eye sockets, but there's so many more things you can do with your paint in regard to varying gloss.
And the little nephew isn't necessary to sell the character, so you could've bought back so many more hours in paint.
I applaud your unique approach to the challenge, but if you're gonna commit to something that is this over the top, go further.
The prosthetic sort of has its own proportions.
The rest of the body doesn't.
But if you really stretch that head out, then all of a sudden, the face wouldn't look so disproportionate to the rest of the body, and the overall character would feel more like a cartoon.
Jordan, if you'd please step down.
All right, guys.
It's time to find out the first person to make it to this season's finale.
All right, guys.
It's time to find out the first person to make it to this season's finale.
Glenn? The first person going to the finale is Ben.
- Good job, buddy.
- Good job.
I feel like I'm in a dream state right now, and it's a huge honor.
I've worked hard, and I'm proud of the work that I've done.
I want to take that title.
Ben, congratulations on being the first finalist.
Thank you.
All right, Glenn, who is the second person to make it to the finale? The second person moving on to the finale is Nora.
Shit.
Holy crap.
I'm going to the finale.
This is crazy.
I'm relieved.
I'm excited.
I'm proud of myself.
I'm so thankful.
I can't even believe I'm here right now.
Congratulations, Nora.
You also have made it to the finale.
Whew.
Jeepers.
Okay, guys.
So here's the thing.
For the rest of you, we're gonna be doing something that we've never done before.
Before the judges choose the last finalist, they're going to give you a chance to improve your makeups based on the feedback you received from them earlier tonight.
So you three are getting another hour of Last Looks.
Wow.
Thank God.
Getting this second chance is amazing.
This is the time where I really, really need it.
Surprised? - Yeah.
- Yeah.
All right, let's get things under way.
Models, why don't you go ahead and take your places back in the makeup room? You guys ready to do this? - Yes.
- Excellent.
Your time starts now.
- Okay, you guys.
- Get it, guys.
Get it.
We all just book it to the Last Looks area.
We've got to get as much done in that one hour's time as possible, and I'm ready to fight for this.
I want to make it to the end.
Okay, Dad.
Take two.
Okay.
It is nice to have this opportunity, but I don't know if an hour's enough time, because they critiqued my makeup pretty hard.
Basically, they want me to repaint the whole thing.
So I get a flesh tone, and I base it all out, and I start adding similar colors that I used.
And it's really important that I nail it, because out of the three of us, mine has the most significant changes needed, and I'm hoping for a miracle.
I'm seriously gonna have a heart attack.
I'm going in and airbrushing underneath the cheekbones to put a little more contrast in, dry brushing new colors just to really push those highlighted areas.
And then Glenn had mentioned, if I'm going for a more cartoony character, I really should've changed a lot of the anatomy of it.
So I'm grabbing some bubble wrap and giving her a saggier chest, stuffing it up underneath the back just to puff out the rump, and then puffing up the wig a little bit more.
I'm gonna do everything that I can to really make this character what they want.
Tie the first one around right here.
Yeah.
Gonna punch up this contrast a little bit.
I darken up the eyes like they recommended, and then they wanted me to highlight that scar on the forehead.
So I want to punch that up a little bit, showing that there's something there.
God, I'm second-guessing myself.
The last ten minutes, that's when the self-doubt creeps in.
I'm afraid we're gonna get to a point of diminishing returns.
The things that they talked about were so subjective, so I'm confused as to how far I should go.
Time's up.
Brushes down.
Hands are shaking.
That rattled me.
I want to win this so bad.
It's the culmination of a lifelong dream.
But all I can think of now is, "Did I do enough?" Group hug.
Come on.
Good luck, guys.
Okay, judges, why don't you go see how well these guys addressed your notes? It's so much nicer without that patterning.
It highlights the sculpture so much better.
He fleshed it up really nice.
Little speckling of all these different colors in here.
Took off the wig, and we see ears now.
He worked on the edge around the mouth quite a bit too.
All right.
Let's lose the specs.
Thank you.
He definitely punched the paint up, specifically right here, so that the whole thing looks a little bit more morbid.
He did do some lightening up in here.
I see it up here.
It's certainly much richer.
He darkened the eyes, and now it has more depth.
Those are the things that we needed to see.
Well, he lubed her up pretty good.
And gave her boobies and a booty.
And a butt.
And he pulled the wig up.
He really changed the proportions of this character in just one hour.
Yeah.
He also bumped the contrast up on the face by 150%.
Okay, so this was a pretty unique opportunity for the artists to enhance their makeups after hearing what you had to say to them.
Why don't we go through each one? Let's start with Evan.
One of the biggest changes.
He made the most use out of the one hour of time.
And he whipped that wig right off that head.
He took advantage of the fact that he had made a cowl.
It was a great advancement on the makeup.
He got rid of the blotchy pink spots - that didn't make any sense.
- That's right.
We've seen such growth in him.
He has matured as an artist.
The only thing with him is he can still be a little inconsistent.
All right, let's move on to Scott.
He put a lot of color into it.
It was very realistic.
I mean, it was really well-crafted.
It's classic Scott.
And I think Scott had the strongest makeup of the three that had the hour to revise their makeup.
I just don't know that he did enough in that hour to stay on top.
And so that leads us to the question, is that makeup good enough to beat everyone else's with the revisions? Okay, judges.
Let's move on to Jordan.
You got to applaud his bold color choices.
So, when we ask him to go more contrasty, boy, did he ever.
And absolute genius use of a fast fix to change the proportions.
He expanded the body and did manage-- in one hour-- to make that character than it was when it walked out here the first time.
- Mm-hmm.
- Exactly.
But it didn't feel like it really satisfied the challenge at hand.
All right, judges.
Have you chosen our last finalist? Yeah, it was very difficult.
Yeah, it was very difficult.
But yes, we have.
Okay, let's bring them back out.
Okay, Ben and Nora have made it to the finale, but it's time to find out who will be joining them.
Glenn, who is our last finalist? The third person that will be joining us in the finale is Glenn, who is our last finalist? The third person that will be joining us in the finale is Evan.
Oh, my God.
Thank you so much.
I can't believe that he said my name.
I'm feeling so blessed.
I made it all the way to the end, and that is the biggest accomplishment I've ever made in my life.
Thank you.
Evan, congratulations.
You've earned the last spot in the finale.
Thank you.
Now, unfortunately, that means, Scott and Jordan, you have both been eliminated.
Difficult choice, guys.
You made it really hard to decide tonight.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
You two have done an amazing job this season, but I have to ask you both to please head back to the makeup room and pack up your kits.
- Thank you, guys.
- Good luck, gentlemen.
- Good luck, guys.
- Take care.
- See ya.
- See ya.
I was so close.
It kind of sucks to go home now.
I don't have that opportunity to go for the win, but I don't have any regrets.
I stayed true to myself.
I'm happy that the character that I'm going home with is what I love to do.
I get to show the world the style that I love, and that's a win in my book.
I have such a respect for this industry as a whole, so I'm very proud of myself for hanging on this long.
This experience meant the world to me, and I leave this competition with very good memories, and I'm gonna take those with me forever.
Good job, buddy.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I can't believe it.
Well, you guys, congratulations again to each of you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
There's something extra special in store for you in the season's finale.
It's yet another first for us this season, but that's all I'm going to say for now.
Why don't you all go home, celebrate, and get some rest? Trust me, you're all gonna need it.
- Oh, great.
- All right.
Good night.
All three of us are gonna do incredible work, but I want to be the one to take home the title.
We'll see who plays the game better.
I love you guys.
