Hell's Kitchen (2005) s11e20 Episode Script
4 Chefs Compete
Previously on Hell's Kitchen, chef Ramsay tested the chefs' creativity by having them work with an all-American classic.
Create your own gourmet burger.
Jean-Philippe was tasked with inviting a large, esteemed group of judges.
Maitre d's, general managers, and sommeliers.
Susan's burger misfired, and she finished in last place.
Really? While Jon and his Roman burger conquered all.
Yes.
Long live the Roman burger.
I win, hands down.
At dinner service Let's go.
Chef Ramsay made room for a special guest at the chef's table.
Antonio Sabato Junior joining us at the chef's table, yeah? Wake up, everybody.
The final five got off to a good start.
Walking risotto.
I'm grabbing that lobster tail right now.
But they couldn't maintain it.
Get a grip now! Ja'nel stumbled with her risotto.
It's mush, absolute mush.
Mary had a number of miscues with the sliders.
If you concentrate, you won't forget to put the patty in-between the bun! Dreadful! But when Susan started firing entrees too early F.
Y.
I.
, Dumbo, we haven't even sent the appetizers.
She's screwed.
Chef Ramsay reached his breaking point.
Here you go.
You run it, then.
Off you go.
This is a joke.
After the chefs performed so well in the previous service, chef Ramsay was truly disappointed.
Nominate two of the weakest individuals.
When it came time to nominate, everyone fought for their right to remain in Hell's Kitchen.
My palate is better than yours.
I'm faster than you.
I'm more creative than you.
You're really humble, too.
The first nominee was arrived at easily Mary.
But the second was a bit more complicated.
We're actually split between Ja'nel and myself.
So chef Ramsay put all three on the chopping block.
Mary, Susan, Ja'nel, step forward, please.
And in the end, it was Susan who lost her dream of becoming head chef of Gordon Ramsay's Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace.
Fire Whoa the way you swerve and curve really wrecks my nerves and I'm so excited, child Ohh! Go, Jon! when you take what you've got and, girl, you've got a lot you're really something, child when you're hot, you're hot you really shoot your shot you're dynamite, child Yeah.
* yeah * well, I can tell by your game you're gonna start a flame of love, baby, baby the way you push, push lets me know that Hey, hey! you're gonna get your wish oh, no fire what I said, child oww, fire uh-huh And now, the continuation of Hell's Kitchen.
Get out of here.
Yes, chef.
Good fight, Mary.
Thank you.
Yeah, good job, Mary.
I'm here for the fight of my life.
I've always been here for the fight of my life.
And I have so much left to give.
We're down to the final four.
I'm not gonna show fear.
I'm gonna communicate.
Like, I'm gonna work hard.
I haven't had a service like that in forever.
Yeah.
And I'm glad that I'm still here.
It sucks that you voted me up, but I understand why.
Like, I can't deny that I didn't do a bad job tonight.
But I'm not the weakest chef.
Oh, my God.
Please, Mary.
Please, shut the hell up.
And if he asked everybody up there, "Who do you think the weakest chef is," nobody would've said me.
They would've said Susan.
Except for Cyndi, she would've maybe said me.
Mary definitely showed her weaknesses tonight.
And she's the weakest chef.
Tomorrow, she'll either sink or swim.
And I have a good feeling she's probably gonna sink.
I love you all.
Good night.
I love you, too.
Mary, Cyndi, Ja'nel, and Jon have outlasted 16 other chefs to become the final four.
Wow.
Good morning.
Morning, chef.
But there's still one piece of the culinary picture that chef Ramsay Morning, chef.
Morning, chef.
Wants to see.
You know, as chefs, we have the ability to put things together.
Each dish has many components.
It's almost like a puzzle, right? Yes, chef.
So that's what this morning's competition is all about.
Here are your boards.
And here are the pieces of the puzzle.
Seriously, a puzzle? The last time I did a puzzle was It actually was not too long ago.
Now I'm gonna divide you into two teams.
Cyndi and Ja'nel, one team.
Mary and Jon, team number two.
I have a feeling this isn't gonna be the real challenge.
But whatever's gonna happen, I'm ready for it, man.
Bring it the on.
The first team to complete their puzzle wins.
Everybody ready? Yes, chef.
On your mark, get set, go.
Good luck.
Okay, here we've got meat.
The first thing I usually do is find the edge.
I don't think this fits here.
No.
No, definitely not.
Well, , man.
The way these things are cut, these could be anywhere.
Come on, Mary.
Yes, chef.
All right, Ja'nel.
Top left, Ja'nel.
Fill in the top left and you'll be fine.
No, look.
Look at Look at the garnish.
Ja'nel, this is a freaking team challenge.
Seriously, like, work with me here.
Look at the slicing of the protein.
This is the bottom.
Look.
Nice, Jon.
There we go.
There we go.
You got it? This is harder than it looks.
That's it.
There you go, Cyndi.
Right here, right here.
Look, look.
Awesome.
That goes right there.
Mary and Jon, congratulations.
Yes! Whoo! Awesome job! , me.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Awesome job.
So the winner of the puzzle challenge is Mary and Jon.
Good job.
Thank you, chef.
Really good job.
Good job.
Now here's what you won.
Nothing.
Come on, on the puzzle? It's never that easy.
Never that easy, chef.
Okay, seriously, look at this beautiful dish.
Now you have to really figure it out.
What protein is it? Which ingredients did I use? Because your next challenge is "Taste It, Now Make It.
" Oh, I knew it.
Awesome.
Yes.
Awesome.
Oh, I love "Taste It, Now Make It.
" I am so excited.
All of you are gonna have 30 minutes to taste the dish and replicate it.
Whoever comes closest to recreating my dish wins the challenge.
And your 30 minutes starts now.
In this difficult Hell's Kitchen classic challenge, the final four, using only their senses of sight, taste, and smell Taste, taste, taste.
Must identify the ingredients of chef Ramsay's dish and recreate it in just 30 minutes.
You can refer to the plate as many times as possible.
If you want to win this challenge, you have to have a strategy.
I don't want to kill my palate with bold spices and flavors.
I try to go with the milder things and go for the meat at the end.
While it's important to figure out all of the dish's ingredients, it's especially critical that the chefs identify the correct protein.
Mary, you should nail this one, right? Yes, chef.
Especially the protein, yes? Yes, chef.
Because I'm a butcher, I have a lot of experience with different cuts of meat.
And I think I definitely have an advantage in this competition today.
This cut, it's definitely not venison.
It's, like, a deep red.
There's hardly any fat to it.
I'm thinking it's probably bison.
Good.
Well done, Cyndi.
I'm cooking one venison and one buffalo.
I've never had buffalo before.
I'm just gonna cook it off, and I'll taste it at the end.
But I'm 95% sure it's venison.
Cyndi and Ja'nel are going with venison, while Mary has chosen bison.
Jon is going in another direction.
I'm absolutely positive it's beef.
Make sure you give yourselves options, right? Yes, chef.
Chef keeps saying, "Give yourself options.
" But I know not to stop myself from my gut instinct.
I'm going with beef fillet, man.
I'm confident that's what it is.
Although the chefs have conflicting opinions when it comes to the protein, they all believe that the puree is butternut squash.
But Ja'nel and Cyndi are struggling to figure out the diced vegetable.
Cook, slice, taste.
The other root vegetable is turnip, it's parsnip, or it's celery root.
I'm not really sure which one it is.
But I'm gonna go parsnip.
It definitely looks like a turnip.
It tastes like a turnip.
That's what I'm looking for.
It's got to be a turnip.
Ten minutes to go.
Come on.
Ten minutes to go, I'm retasting the dish, and it clicks.
It's definitely lamb.
Eight minutes from now, you've got to start plating, okay? I'm hoping that it gets done in time.
Last minute.
Here we go.
Dang it.
Mary, even from here, it looks raw.
I know, chef.
I'm sorry, chef.
It looks bad, but I'm gonna put up my undercooked lamb on that plate, because at least it's correct.
Threetwo one and serve.
Okay, let's start off with Mary.
Here, chef.
Okay, what is it? I did a seared lamb fillet.
My lamb is totally undercooked.
But I think I have enough of my ingredients right that I could win.
Next, please.
Let's go, Cyndi.
I went with a venison fillet, chef.
And the puree? Butternut squash with coriander.
It's hard when you don't get a lot of feedback.
Not a smile, not a frown, just a Thank you.
Ugh.
How am I supposed to work off that, chef? I did a venison fillet as well.
Interesting, another venison.
The plate could've been a lot tidier.
But I'm pretty confident and hoping that I got it right.
Okay, Jon, please.
Yes, chef.
I went with the beef fillet for the protein.
It's rubbed with coriander, cumin, salt, and pepper.
Come on, chef.
Give me something.
Is it even close? Did I get anything right? Thank you.
Chef Ramsay has now tasted all the dishes.
But the only dishes which will remain in contention are those that have the most important component correct.
First of all, you can't win this challenge if you don't get the protein right.
Two of you had venison Ja'nel and Cyndi.
Yes, chef.
Mary, you had the lamb.
Yes, chef.
Jon, you had the beef.
Yes, chef.
Mary.
Yes, chef.
It is definitely not lamb.
Okay, chef.
And I thought you were gonna nail the protein.
I'm sorry, chef.
I should've done better.
I agree.
You will not be winning this challenge.
Jon You were the only one with beef.
Cooked beautifully, tasted great.
Jon, you have the wrong protein.
Yes, chef.
Both of you got venison, well done.
Both it was cooked beautifully.
Thank you, chef.
Really well done.
Thank you.
With the field now narrowed to Cyndi and Ja'nel, the winner will be determined by who correctly identified the key remaining ingredients.
All of you had butternut squash puree, right? Yes, chef.
You are all wrong.
It's carrot puree.
Carrot.
Wow.
Damn.
One of you has turnips, Cyndi.
Yes, chef.
And Ja'nel, you have parsnips.
Yes, chef.
This is what's gonna decide the winner of this challenge.
Is it turnip? Or is it parsnip? The winner of this challenge is the chef that gave me In today's "Taste It, Now Make It" challenge One of the closest "Taste It, Now Make Its" we've ever had.
Jon and Mary, who incorrectly identified the protein, have been knocked out of contention.
And there is one key ingredient that will decide the winner between Ja'nel and Cyndi.
Is it turnip? Or is it parsnip? The winner of this challenge is the chef that gave me Turnip.
Cyndi, well done.
Yes.
Oh, my God.
Congratulations.
Oh, my God, thank you, chef.
Well done.
Really good job.
Well done.
Thank God, turnips.
I finally frickin' won a challenge on my damn own.
Ja'nel, you know, tough call.
Jeez.
So close.
I lose, again, by one inch.
Cyndi, well done.
Thank you, chef.
You have an extraordinary palate.
Thank you.
Because of that I have a very special day for you.
Oh, man.
First off, you're going on a shopping spree to Sur la Table.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
Oh, you have a budget of $1,000.
Okay? Oh, my God.
turnip! But that's not all.
After that, I'll be escorting you to a restaurant that I'm really excited about, The Fat Cow.
That's my latest in Los Angeles.
Oh, man.
Spend some valuable time, one-on-one.
Looking forward to it very much, chef.
Yeah, likewise.
Wow.
Go and get changed, my darling.
Well done.
I'll see you shortly.
Thank you, chef.
When you started, there were 20 chefs living in those dorms.
Now we're just down to a few of you.
Today in Hell's Kitchen is moving day.
The three of you will head up to the dorms, haul out the dressers, extra mattresses, and load them all onto the moving truck.
Yes, chef.
Off you go.
Thanks, chef.
Thank you, chef.
Ja'nel, a frickin' parsnip beat you.
parsnip.
A moving truck.
Oh, my God.
This reward is the reward of all rewards.
Some one-on-one time with chef I'm beside myself.
Oh, my God.
It's gonna be insane.
Venison I was sure that wasn't venison, too.
turnips.
I hate moving.
Hate moving.
Man, I'm, like, humiliated.
At this stage of the game, like, it's embarrassing.
While the losers prepare to spend their day doing some heavy lifting $1,000.
Cyndi prepares to spend her day What the heck am I gonna get with $1,000? Spending.
Got a little basket for you.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Look what I have.
Gordon's private expense account.
Are you kidding me? Splash the cash.
Come on, follow me.
Yes, absolutely.
I'm ready to blow this paper on anything and everything.
Let's go shopping.
Oh, man.
There's so much stuff.
Ooh.
Oh, man.
I would probably just say, like, two of them, really.
The first thing that came to my mind was buying my mom her mixer that she's wanted for years.
My mom deserves to have something like that, and I'm gonna give it to her.
Oh, this is so crazy.
I've never had so many choices.
Swipe the black card.
I can't believe it.
While Cyndi discovers how good it feels to spend someone else's money, back in the dorms What is that stink? It's, like, mildew or something.
The losers Eww.
Somebody's thong underwears are in the corner.
Are discovering how bad it is to clean up someone else's mess.
Smells like farts.
Uh, I don't know who's been living in these rooms the past couple of weeks, but it's pretty disgusting.
Filthy.
In the girls' room, there's a thong, like, rolled up in the corner, and I'm like I found, like, a plastic bag that a doughnut came in.
Eww.
'Cause I ain't touching these things with my bare hands.
So gross.
That's disgusting.
The dorm is absolutely destroyed.
Ooh, dude, is that an egg salad sandwich? What? Ugh.
A sandwich? everywhere, dude.
It's horrendous.
Do you want a bagel? No, thanks.
I'm not sure if I could eat anything right now.
Appetites may be spoiled in the dorms, but at The Fat Cow, chef Ramsay's newest restaurant in Los Angeles Oh, wow.
Wow, look at that.
That looks beautiful.
Cyndi is ready to enjoy a private lunch with chef Ramsay.
The smoked salmon.
That is lovely.
Yeah, it is.
I am definitely the luckiest girl in the world.
Oh, my God.
I mean, I am sitting with chef Ramsay, two feet away from me, talking, eating some amazing food.
Oh, so good! What more do you need to see from me? If there's one thing I could advise, it's just step out of your comfort zone.
Don't be scared to be vocal.
You've got it.
You know, you know how to cook.
And more importantly, you have a very, very, very good palate.
I know that I haven't been as vocal as I really wanted to be.
If that's what I need to do to take it to the next level for him, then that's definitely what I'm gonna give him tonight in dinner service.
For them lifting the beds, cleaning out dorms.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah, to their backs.
To their backs.
You okay? Yeah.
It's great when I've got me and two Ooh! Got it? Yeah.
Not-very-strong girls trying to move mattresses and all kinds of down, out to the front, into a moving truck.
This is so stupid.
muscle.
Thanks for being freakin' He-Man.
Yeah, Jon.
You really carried those mattresses.
Well, I don't want to be doing this all day.
You know we got to get service tonight.
I just want to lay down, man.
Eat some pizza and drink a beer.
This is Ja'nel.
Mary! Time to go? But, you know, this is Hell's Kitchen, so it's kill yourself and kill yourself some more.
My hands are all scratched up from moving.
I'm just a little tired.
I got a wicked headache.
This is heavy.
Mascarpone, parm.
Okay, this looks good.
Hello, busy worker bees.
What's up? Hi.
How was your day? How did it go? Oh, awesome.
Seeing Cyndi come through the kitchen with her shopping bags, it's like, "Yay.
I'm happy for you.
" But Ja'nel, Jon, and I are super tired right now.
Cyndi needs to help us here.
Awesome, Cyndi.
All right, well, I'll be back down in a minute, guys.
All right.
Despite an exhausting day of moving, prepping, and shopping Right.
The final four chefs have no time to rest Wow, what an afternoon.
As chef Ramsay has one more hurdle for them to jump.
Tonight will be the biggest test so far in this competition of your leadership qualities, as each of you will have an opportunity to run the pass.
I want to see how you lead the kitchen.
I'll be watching everything.
And tonight is your moment to take charge.
I know you can all cook.
But prove to me you can all lead.
Yes, chef.
There's four of you now.
And after tonight's service There'll only be two.
Oh, man.
The pressure in tonight's dinner service will be immense Each of you will have an opportunity to run the pass.
As will be the stakes.
There's four of you now.
And after tonight's service, there'll only be two.
Oh, man.
Good luck, guys.
Thank you, chef.
Get on your stations and set them up.
Let's go.
We're under a lot of pressure right now.
Like, two people are going home tonight.
We have to run the pass.
Like, this is insane.
J.
P.
, open Hell's Kitchen, please.
Let's go.
Oui, chef.
Here we go.
Let's open the doors.
Tables walking in.
The scallops look good.
Give me your best.
Timing, synchronization more than ever before, right? Yes, chef.
Each chef's leadership abilities will be tested.
Time to shine, yes? And chef Ramsay is also looking to see who can run the kitchen while maintaining the highest of standards.
All right, guys.
Look alive.
Yup, here we go.
Here we go.
Okay, guys, here we are.
We're starting to go.
As those appetizers roll in, then I'll ask one of you to hit the hot plate, okay? Yes, chef.
On order, two risotto, two scallops.
Entree, two lamb, two Wellington.
Yes, chef.
Tonight is a really important night.
So I just hope Cyndi can step it up today and really get us off to a good start.
A minute on the first two risottos.
Drop that first set of scallops.
Scallops working.
On order, four covers table 50.
Two risotto, two scallops.
Yes, chef.
Another two risotto on, Cyndi.
There's a lot of risottos, and I have, like four or five pans working at once.
Tell me when was the last time you saw somebody do that? That's what I love to see, the multitasking.
There are four risottos working at once, yes? Good job, Cyndi.
Good job.
Right behind.
Thank you.
Let's go.
Walking risotto.
Very nice, that risotto.
Thank you, chef.
Bam, chef.
I deserve to make it into the final two.
Where's the garnish for the scallops? Risotto, please.
Um, Cyndi.
Delicious.
Absolutely perfection.
Thank you, chef.
Thank you, chef Ramsay.
I am here all night.
Mmm.
It's worth the wait.
Cyndi's perfect risottos have the kitchen off to a strong start.
Right, Cyndi, on the hot plate, please.
Yes, chef.
And now it's time for chef Ramsay to see if her leadership skills can match her cooking.
Look at the ticket.
Read it through your mind first before you call it out.
Yes, chef.
Good luck.
Let's go, guys.
Yes, chef.
I was definitely born to lead.
Tonight, I am gonna be a strong, vocal leader, very loud, assertive.
I am gonna be on point, man.
All right, guys, two tickets in.
Three risotto, one scallop.
Three risotto, one scallop.
Heard.
Come here, come here.
Come here.
You now are running the kitchen.
So you don't talk to them like you're up in the dorm.
You are the chef.
Yes, chef.
Okay? I want those tickets read out again.
Yes, chef.
And I want some attention bought.
Yes, chef.
Let's go.
Start again.
Guys, I'm gonna repeat these tickets again.
Okay, everybody listening? Yes.
Two two-tops going with them at the same time.
Three risottos, one scallop.
Heard.
Yes, chef! Chef Andi, about four? Four minutes.
Cyndi is starting to find her voice.
Four minutes, Jon.
Heard, four minutes.
But there's another test she must pass.
How are we looking, chef Andi, on those risottos? Two minutes.
For tonight's dinner service, sous chef Andi will be filling in the gaps in the kitchen.
But chef Ramsay will also be using her to test the chefs' quality control.
I can walk on risotto? Yes.
I got your lobster tails.
Sous chef Andi has prepared the risotto using crab instead of lobster.
Come on, guys.
Jon, I need them up here as soon as possible, please.
I got this .
I mean, I got this on lock.
Happy with that? Yes, chef.
Lobster tails? Lobster tails here.
Right, stop what you're doing.
Come on, quick, taste that risotto.
On the menu, what is it? It's supposed to be lobster.
It's crab.
Last line of defense.
Absolutely, chef.
Come on.
Chef Andi, I need a redo on those three risottos.
You gave me crab, not lobster.
Oh, .
Oh, man.
How the hell did I not taste crab in there and not the lobster? I didn't even pick that up.
Here are the risotto.
Thank you, chef.
Despite failing her quality-control test Let's go, please.
Cyndi pushes forward, sending out appetizers to the diners.
I'm impressed.
Good job.
Well done.
Thank you, chef.
Back to appetizer.
Let's go.
Guys, I'm back on apps now.
And her time at the pass would be best summed up as good but not great.
Ja'nel, hot plate.
Tickets in.
Let's go.
Now it's Ja'nel's turn to prove that she can run chef Ramsay's kitchen.
Let's do two two-tops.
Two capellini, two risotto.
Heard.
No one's talking to each other, and I can definitely see the dysfunction that's going on in the kitchen.
Two risotto, two capellini.
How long? Two minutes, chef.
I got to start commanding the attention and the respect from my fellow chefs here.
Perfect.
Two risotto and two capellini, chef.
Thank you.
Come on, Ja'nel.
Please, find your voice.
This needs salt, please.
Can you add salt? I've got to pull this together and show chef Ramsay that I deserve to be here.
Cyndi, can I have a little bit of salt, please? It's a little under-seasoned.
Yes, ma'am.
Hey, you, come here.
Coming, chef.
Cyndi, two pans in the chart that need more seasoning.
Come on, Cyndi, send me good food.
You're making me look bad right now.
That's the second pan that she's brought up that needs more seasoning.
Yes, chef.
Come here, you.
Chef.
The first five tables, for me, it was perfect.
Yes, chef.
Now it's for her, it's under-seasoned.
I'm just, like, in the middle of a storm.
Is it a sabotage? Absolutely not, chef.
Oh, really? If I can't run this pass, I could be going home.
service where the final four chefs are taking turns running the kitchen, Ja'nel is at the pass.
The first five tables, for me, it was perfect.
Yes, chef.
Now it's for her, it's under-seasoned.
And Cyndi, after delivering perfect risottos when chef Ramsay was leading the kitchen, is now struggling on appetizers.
Is it a sabotage? Absolutely not, chef.
Oh, really? No way, chef.
Second pan, bland.
Yes, chef.
It's funny, that.
This is bad.
I can't believe Cyndi's doing this to me.
I need to turn this dinner service around and show chef Ramsay that I can be the leader and I can run this kitchen.
How long, two risottos? Chef, two risottos.
Thank you.
Perfect.
Go, please.
The lobster risotto is incredible.
I love it.
Ja'nel has proven that she can be an assertive, demanding leader Let's send appetizers, entrees at the same time.
Okay, we can go one Wellington, one halibut.
But sous chef Andi is about to test her quality control by giving her the wrong fish.
Halibut.
Thank you.
Chef I'm not sure about the halibut.
I'm plating the halibut, and I can see a mile away something's not right.
What is that? This is cod.
Chef, this is cod, not halibut.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Chef Andi's trying to be sneaky.
But where the did cod even come from? That's not even on the menu.
How long on that halibut? 2 1/2 minutes, please.
Wow, man.
Ja'nel's doing a great job at the pass.
Three fired halibut as soon as possible.
Let's go.
Service, please.
With Ja'nel in charge, the correct fish now makes it to a grateful diner.
And two more tables of appetizers I've got two bass, two lamb, two Wellington.
Yes, chef.
And entrees The rack of lamb looks unbelievable.
Go out to the dining room.
Time out on the hot plate.
Right.
Jon, let's go.
Now it's Jon's opportunity to prove that he can not only cook but also lead.
There's two choices.
You run your team, or the team runs you.
Yes, chef.
Okay.
Order in.
Listen up.
Six top.
Two bass, two lamb, two Wellington.
One, no pork.
Thank you.
Right.
Bring me the ticket.
Run me through the ingredients on the Wellington.
No there's no pork in the Wellington.
Prosciutto? Oh, there is prosciutto on that.
So how the hell are we gonna do it Why is he yes, that's true.
Get him over.
J.
P.
Jon, you know we can't special order a no pork in the Wellington.
They're already pre-rolled.
You want us to, what, break one open and take out the prosciutto? Are you serious? The Wellington has prosciutto wrapped inside of it.
We can't take the pork out of it.
How can we unwrap it? Look at me.
You have to spot that.
I apologize.
His mistake.
Your mistake.
Yes, chef.
Come on.
With Jon failing to spot the mistake on the ticket, he now must take advantage of every minute he has at the pass to prove he can lead.
Okay, on the last ticket that came in, one lamb, two Wellington entrees.
How long on this order, Ja'nel? She's slicing right now.
Yeah, slicing.
I'm gonna walk on that garnish right now.
Everything we do, we should be communicating.
Let's go.
Right now, we don't know what's going on.
Like, what are we fired on? How long? Like, we need a leader.
Walking lamb, walking Wellington.
The lamb is raw.
Now we've lost control.
And you got raw lamb, garnish.
And it's happening.
Yes, chef.
And right now, you're letting it, because there are four sections doing what the they want to do.
This is not how I want my to go right now.
This is not how I run kitchens.
Ja'nel, Mary.
Come here.
Come here, .
Look at that.
You're gonna sell me that? Dude, that's too raw.
You know that .
Get it.
Got it.
Fix it.
That was too salty.
Fix that.
I am not gonna let the team run me.
And I'm trying to do everything I can to run this team.
Service, please.
We're dragging.
One lamb to go with the two Wellington.
How long on that lamb, Ja'nel? I'm dying up here.
Hey, , all of you, come here.
Chef.
There's harmony in a kitchen that functions to perfection.
Here, it's just flat.
I've got no idea what you're doing, what you're doing, or what you're doing.
Five, four, three, two, one.
Say it together! Together! Five, four, three, two, one! Right! Can I hear it, then? Yes? Yes, chef! Lamb, Ja'nel? How are you looking? Walking lamb.
Behind you.
Let's go.
That's much better.
Service, please.
Thank you, Ja'nel, for picking that up.
Yes, chef.
Although Jon has had an issue or two at the pass, he has maintained the high standards of Hell's Kitchen and entrees continue to make their way to the dining room.
I'm sorry for the delay.
Thank you.
Now sous chef Andi will test his quality control by replacing the scallops with butterfish.
Scallops on the next ticket.
Yes, chef.
Heard.
I started off, you know, there was a few rough bumps.
But now I feel like I've got the kitchen running in the right direction.
There we go.
There we go.
Happy with that? Yes, I am, chef.
Stop.
Oh, my God.
What now? .
It's one hour into dinner service.
And Jon is taking his turn leading the brigade.
There we go.
There we go.
Unfortunately, the butterfish that was substituted for scallops slips by him undetected.
Happy with that? Yes, I am, chef.
Stop.
Something's up.
I mean, they look good.
Taste that.
I want you to taste that.
Taste what? Taste the scallop.
Oh, are you kidding me? It's not even a scallop.
No, it's not.
It's a fish.
What the hell is that? Yeah, that's right.
Last line of defense.
Yeah, absolutely.
One scallops.
Urgently, please.
Yes, chef.
One scallop.
Let's go.
Damn, this was one of those curve balls.
I should've squished one in my hand.
It would've fell right apart.
Service, please.
Thank you very much.
Yum.
Jon.
Yes, chef.
Fish station.
Mary, come here.
Yes, chef.
Now it's time for the last of the final four to take her turn at the pass.
I have a new order.
I'm not gonna let my nervousness stop me.
I'm just gonna walk up there and own it.
All right, guys, stand by.
On order, four covers.
Two risotto, two scallops.
Entrees, two lamb, two Wellington.
Yes, chef.
Heard.
How long on those appetizers? I got a minute, a minute and a half.
It's gonna be I need those appetizers, guys.
Push it, Jon! If Mary's high-pitched, squeaky voice ever served her a purpose, it's right now, because I can hear her over all the other chaos.
Apps are ready.
I'm just waiting on Jon, chef.
Jon.
I am ready on scallops.
Walk them, please.
Where's the garnish for the scallops? Coming right now, chef.
Jon, come here, please.
Yes, one second.
No, right now.
Coming.
Feel these, they're too dark, they're rubbery, and they're busting up.
Re-fire them right now.
Yes, chef.
Jon, take it with you.
I'm really enjoying seeing this, you know, empowered side of Mary, but Risotto.
She's also being a little tyrant up there.
Cyndi, this risotto's cold.
It needs seasoning.
Heat it up right now.
Guys, how long on two risotto, two scallops? re-fire of risotto.
Heard.
Good.
Chef Ramsay, I'm gonna show you that I'm the leader you're looking for, that I have what it takes.
Scallops walking.
I'm walking risotto to the window.
Scallops, chef.
Risotto, chef.
Those risottos are beautiful, Cyndi.
Thank you, Mary.
Thank you.
Mary has been very impressive and very assertive in her short time at the pass.
Where's my scallop garnish? Right here, chef.
Get it up here right now.
But now sous chef Andi is ready to test her quality control Chef Andi, I need two Wellington.
Sending up a Wellington stuffed with lamb instead of beef.
Let's go.
Two Wellington.
Thank you.
Let's go.
Thank you, chef.
Let's go.
Those Wellingtons look really small.
And I'm thinking to myself I don't like how that looks.
Nice try, chef Andi.
I'm a butcher.
Like, I know my meat.
This is not beef.
Chef Andi, I need two Wellingtons, asap.
That's lamb, not beef.
Two minutes, please.
Good catch.
Thank you.
I wasn't quite sure of Mary in the beginning.
But now she's a great competitor.
Mary has arrived.
She's grown some huge .
Mary, let's go.
Last table, let's go.
Yes, chef.
All right, guys, on order, one bass, one lamb, one New York strip.
How long? I need two minutes.
Heard.
I feel like I killed it.
Of everybody, I feel like I did the best job tonight.
You got my relish and that bass? I totally redeemed myself.
Well done.
Good job.
Thank you, chef.
With Mary driving the brigade hard, the kitchen sends out their final entrees Go, please.
Service, please.
And completes dinner service on a positive note.
But with two chefs going home tonight, no one is in the mood to celebrate.
Right now I've got a lot of thinking to do about who actually gets into the final.
I'd like all of you now to do a lot of thinking as well.
I need to know why you deserve to be in the final.
Think carefully.
Clear? Yes, chef.
Hurry up.
Off you go.
Dude, that was hard tonight.
Yeah, it was hard.
I think a couple of people are gonna be a little bit delusional on how good or how bad they did on the pass tonight.
But, you know, I know I deserve to be in the final two.
I guess everyone's gonna say that they deserve to be there.
I don't think anyone had a perfect service, but I don't think anyone was just a shoo-in to get pieced out.
I'll be really honest.
Tonight, Ja'nel, I feel like you really me.
You were going down on meat, and that's me up, like, big time.
I've always thought Ja'nel was a number-one contender.
But today, man, I'm like, "Oh.
" You know how I felt about you the last time as far as, like, the under pressure and the, you know, not quite rising up.
And it seemed like the same thing happened tonight.
Everyone tonight had something under-seasoned.
Everyone tonight had stuff sent back.
Everyone has this tunnel vision, because they're just trying to get rid of me.
I had one undercooked lamb.
Everything else off the station was fine.
It's, like, I make one or two mistakes, and I need to go home.
But I have proven that I am a stronger chef than them.
I deserve to be in the final two.
You know, if that's what everyone thinks, that's fine.
I just disagree.
Hopefully, chef Ramsay sees it our way and sends Ja'nel packing.
Well, two people are going home.
I hope it's not me.
I hope it's not me.
Okay.
Cyndi.
Yes, chef.
Why do you think you deserve a place in the final? Chef, I've been a competitor since I've walked into Hell's Kitchen.
And I really think that I deserve to be in the final two because of the progression that I've made.
I mean, you turned up the pressure, raised the bar.
I met the bar.
And I think that because of that, you know, the higher you raise it, the higher I'm gonna go.
Jon.
In Vegas, if I'm your executive chef, it's gonna be the most competitive place in the world.
And you cannot stop pushing forward.
The more you push me, the more it drives me to do better.
Mary, why do you deserve to be in the final? I am talented.
I am creative.
I feel like I have progressed.
I feel like I'm a leader.
I feel like I would make a great executive chef for your restaurant.
And I'm eager and willing to learn whatever it is that you would want for your new restaurant, chef.
Ja'nel.
I'm strong.
I'm passionate.
I think I'm talented.
I'm creative.
I've got a great palate, and I'm never satisfied with what I do.
I always know that I can be better.
And I'm gonna fight to be better, better than I was yesterday, better than I was the day before.
Tomorrow I'll be better than I was today.
All of you, listen very carefully.
Never before in the history of Hell's Kitchen have I had such a difficult time deciding who are the final two.
And I've now made my decision.
The first person not moving on to the final is Tonight, the final four each led the pass, hoping to prove to chef Ramsay that they have what it takes to be his head chef at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace.
Never before in the history of Hell's Kitchen have I had such a difficult time deciding who are the final two.
Now it's time for them to find out who has made the cut and who has not.
The first person not moving on to the final is Cyndi.
Oh, God.
Step forward, my darling.
Listen, your attitude is fantastic.
Your palate is amazing.
But I just don't think that you are ready to lead what I've got waiting for one of you in Vegas.
Yes, chef.
You're born to cook.
Thank you, chef.
Don't forget that.
I won't, chef.
Thank you.
So close.
Thank you, chef.
Appreciate it.
Take care.
Thanks, guys.
It was great.
Bye, Cyndi.
I really came into the competition with a lack of confidence.
I dread the day I walk out that door.
My heart is pumping.
Be confident.
Don't worry.
Chicken, chef.
Congratulations.
Good job.
Even though I got beat up and knocked down, I didn't give up.
Cyndi, look it bounces off the wall.
I didn't falter under pressure.
I was able to rise above and give everything, my whole heart, my whole soul.
Wow.
This is delicious.
Thank you.
Winning all the challenges and winning dinner service was great.
Speed is your friend.
Come on, Cyndi! You can do it! Let's go, Cyn! The winner of the challenge is Cyndi.
Well done.
Yes! Oh, my God.
Congratulations.
I know that I gave everything that I had throughout this competition.
I came here not knowing if I was a chef, and I'm leaving here knowing that I am absolutely a chef.
Now it's time to hear who's moving on to the final with a chance of becoming my head chef at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at the most amazing spot at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The first person moving on to the final is Congratulations Mary.
Thank you, chef.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, chef.
Congratulations, Mary.
Thank you very much.
I'm so excited right now.
I'm in the final two.
Who would've thought, like, me, like, in the final two of Hell's Kitchen? Mary, one of the strongest individuals in this competition and someone that has just absolutely taken off.
Thank you, chef.
And you know what, when I first met you, I didn't think you were gonna last three, four dinner services.
But the growth and the talent you converted me into a believer.
Well done.
Thank you very much, chef.
Jon, Ja'nel.
Yes, chef.
There's only one more spot.
The person joining Mary in the final of Hell's Kitchen is Next time, on Hell's Kitchen I'm one step closer to being the next head chef.
The waiting is finally over There's only one more spot.
As Jon and Ja'nel I'm a better chef than Jon.
Like, really, Ja'nel? Come the on.
Duke it out to see who will face off against Mary the butcher from Massachusetts The person in the final of Hell's Kitchen is Congratulations.
Oh, my gosh.
In the most grand We are leaving for Las Vegas.
Las Vegas! Whoo-hoo! Oh, my God.
Gut-wrenching I never know what's coming.
And spectacular Please welcome to the stage Hell's Kitchen finale ever.
You'll be selecting your teammates live in front of our audience.
Zach is back, baby.
Who will battle Mary for a shot at their dream job and a salary of $250,000? Who's gonna win? Will it be Jon, the chef de cuisine from Pennsylvania? I'm gonna be the last chef standing.
Or will it be Ja'nel, the executive chef from Texas? I'm gonna bring it, and I'm want to win.
Next time on the finale of Hell's Kitchen.
