The Voice US (2011) s12e03 Episode Script
Blind Auditions Premiere, Night 3
1 This is "The Voice" Daly: It's an all-new episode of "The Voice.
" [Cheers and applause.]
Tonight, our coaches continue to build their teams.
Season 12's blind auditions start right now.
Y'all ready to see me start whipping some ass? [Chuckles.]
We'll see how that goes.
Yeah, the gloves are off.
The gloves are off.
Wow.
He's fired up, Blake.
[Laughs.]
Oh, my gosh! He's really out there? Oh, my gosh.
Are you serious?! Oh! Literally, childhood dreams coming true.
I can't even tell you.
My name is Ashley Levin, I am 23 years old, and I'm from Miami, Florida.
I have been signing since I can remember.
My mom is from Haiti, and my dad is from New York.
I love you.
I love you back.
I have two older sisters and a little brother, and we all sing.
There was always like a huge musical happening at our house.
In eighth grade, my parents separated.
My mom and dad are actually 20 years apart, so my dad is 76 and going through mental issues.
At the beginning, he would be like, "Ashley, come help me change the TV channel.
I can't get this remote to work.
" And then I'd walk in there and see him holding, like, his alarm clock from his bedside.
Doctors told us this is early onset Alzheimer's.
I need a little bit of help.
All right, let's go.
To see somebody like that not getting to be themselves anymore, you know, it's just hard.
[Sniffles.]
Mm.
That's when I started songwriting, to emote everything that was happening.
Getting to write things out and sing them was such a blessing.
Just recently, I graduated from college, and I got my degree in music.
And it wasn't an easy decision, but I decided to pursue my dream of singing and writing and to audition for "The Voice.
" Now that Alex and I are stable in our careers, we're able to provide some stability for my dad.
This is a perfect opportunity for Ashley to venture off.
Everyone deserves a chance to follow their dreams.
Go! [Laughter.]
Ashley: Today, I'll be singing "Let Him Fly" by Patty Griffin.
I really connect with this song, whether it's, like, my dad or leaving my whole family behind to do what I love.
I feel a huge weight on my shoulders.
But I can't wait to make my dad proud.
Ain't no talkin' to this man Ain't no pretty other side Ain't no way to understand Stupid words of pride It would take an acrobat I've already tried all that So I'm gonna let him fly The proof is in the fire You touch before It moves away Yeah You must always know how long to stay And when to go Ain't no talkin' to this man He's been trying to tell me so It took a while to understand The beauty of just letting go It would take an acrobat I've already tried all that [Cheering.]
Whoo! Congratulations.
I'm gonna let him fly Fly Let him Fly Yeah! [Cheers and applause.]
Whoo! [Laughs.]
- Way to go, Ashley! - Whoo! [Laughs.]
This is so cool.
You look like the physical embodiment of an actual ray of sunshine.
Thank you.
You're like Anyway, what's your name? My name is Ashley Levin.
Like my name? Kinda.
Oh, so Your last name is Levine, that's the only difference.
Hers is Levin.
[Laughs.]
If you would like any advice on who to pick and who not to pick Blake then you should ask.
Where are you from? You guys almost have the same name.
How old are you? Huh? Gwen, Ashley it's almost the same name, isn't it? [Laughter.]
Wow.
I am 23 years old, and I am from Miami, Florida.
But I recently moved to Nashville.
Yee-haw! It's super frustrating because Blake's here, and - It is.
- It's like my mantra.
And I'm not gonna You know what I'm not gonna do? - What? - I'm not gonna not try.
That's right.
Because there's a lot that I have to offer.
Like, he uses this pitch all the time "Just 'cause I'm a country singer doesn't mean that I can't be your coach.
" He's gonna try to tell you I'm gonna give you a whole career afterward.
But the truth is Which is true.
It It might be true, but the good news is if we make it to the finale, I got the hookup.
[Laughs.]
It's so weird how she literally, like, puts you down and also uses you as Yeah.
Man, that's so inappropriate to talk about us hooking up on TV.
That's not what she said.
Yes, that's what I heard.
- Stop it.
- Can I say what I loved about your voice? You have, like, the vibrato, the sweetness, and I just did a country song with Blake Shelton.
Quit dropping my name.
Oh, my God.
We get it.
You love him.
But, seriously, like, who cares about genre? Because I've done all kinds of music.
I feel like I can really help you.
Whoo! [Laughs.]
I have a good idea.
Because Gwen and Blake have this sensitive new thing where, like, they're gonna get mad at each other if you pick either one of them, that means you should probably go with Alicia, right? - Oh, my God.
- I think that's a great idea.
Best idea ever! I heard bluesiness in there, so much soul inside of you.
When you go to these minor seventh things, like [Humming.]
- It was pbht! - [Laughs.]
So many influences are coming out of you.
And I think that's actually what makes it interesting.
So, let me ask you a question.
Why Nashville? Ashley: I love country music, obviously.
I'm also a songwriter.
That's one of the best places to go and do that.
I had gigged in Miami for four years, but I wanted something more.
So how long have you been there now? Just like a couple months.
I love hearing about your writing because that's the blood of Nashville.
And country music is a sacred thing.
Oh, God.
I would hate to see you Throw it all away and go with another team.
I'd hate to see you become an experiment.
When I believe in somebody, I follow through with it way after this show is over with.
And you're no different for me.
I mean, I hear you singing, and and You're no different than all the other girls he has on his team right now.
Like, he literally has all cute girls on his team.
Okay, Ashley, who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Wow.
Come on, Ashley! - Don't fall for this.
- Come on, Ashley.
Don't fall for it.
Stand out.
Stand out.
Don't fall for this, Ashley.
Stand out.
- Um - I'm telling you.
All right, all right, all right, all right.
Alicia: I'm telling you.
Ashley: I've listened to you my whole life.
I pick Blake.
Yes! [Cheers and applause.]
- All right.
- Come here! - Attagirl! - Whoo! Oh, I thought they talked you out of it for a minute.
Blake: Ashley chose me, and I'm so happy about it, because I was afraid the other coaches were gonna get in her head, and I really love the notes that she chooses You're awesome.
because I can't think of any other country artist that does that.
Hate you.
Once again, "I love country, therefore, I must go with Blake" thing happened.
And then we all know how I feel about that.
Boring! [Laughter.]
Ow! Daly: Coming up Quizz: Oh Oh Yes! Oh, oh I wanted to copy you 'cause you're so incredible.
I'm like, "Come on.
" No.
- I was like, "I can't bel" - Oh, here we go.
Alicia and Gwen are gonna be going at it for the first time.
Yes! I can't wait to see the rainbow battle, the cotton candy fights.
Wait, are you lea [Laughs.]
Adam, come sit with me.
It's gonna be okay.
I just need to be left alone right now! [Laughter.]
This is "The Voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
If you want a career You gotta be on my team [Laughter.]
I can plug you in To the Nashville scene [Laughter and applause.]
Thank you.
You have fun doing this show? Mm-hmm.
You remember how much fun it is now? Yeah, it's fun.
You're fun.
You about to get you a good one on your team? I hope so.
You gonna get the next big ska artist? [Laughs.]
Brandon: My name is Brandon Royal.
I'm 31 years old.
I grew up in the U.
S.
Virgin Islands.
It's 32 square miles, and it's kind of like a vacation every day.
My mom always played music around the house calypso, soca, reggae.
The reason I don't speak with an accent when I'm in the U.
S.
is because if I talked like this [Caribbean accent.]
you ain't gonna understand anything I saying.
[Normal voice.]
During college, me and a friend started a group called Them Island Boys, and we were a mesh of pop, hip-hop, and R&B.
Moving on After college, I decided to move to Florida to record my own music.
But my musical pursuits in Orlando have been really bleak.
Woman: Liberty 285, code 6.
Brandon: So I've been a firefighter/EMT for two years.
What I love about my job is it gives me an opportunity to help people and save lives.
My daily shift at my fire station is 24 hours, so music is kind of on the back burner.
I'm super happy out here with you my clan.
Oh, don't say that.
I'm gonna cry.
You're gonna make me cry, and I don't want to cry.
No.
He sings with a lot of passion, feeling in his singing, so I get warm and gooey every time I hear him sing.
I haven't had a chance to sing onstage in five years, but today is my chance to make my dream come true.
No one ever has been on this show from where I'm from.
I have my whole hometown on my back that's what it's riding on.
This is my shot, and I have to take advantage of it.
There's my baby.
[Sighs.]
- Yeah! - Oh! Everyone's feeling pretty It's hotter than July July Though the world's full of problems They couldn't touch us even if they tried Peace has come to Zimbabwe Third world's right on the one Now's the time for celebration 'Cause we've only just begun Didn't know you Would be jammin' until the break of dawn Did nobody ever tell you that you Would be jammin' until the break of dawn? Yeah! Come on! We're jammin', jammin', jammin', jam on I bet you if someone approached you yesterday To tell you that you would be jammin' You would not believe it Because you never thought that you would be jammin' Oh, whoa, whoa Jammin' until the break of dawn [Cheers and applause.]
Oh, whoa You may as well believe what you are feeling Because you feel your body jammin' You would be jammin' until the break of Dawn Oh, whoa, whoa Oh, whoa, whoa [Cheers and applause.]
That's my brother! What's your name? Brandon Royal.
Gwen: Nice.
31 years old, and I'm a firefighter/EMT.
Yeah.
[Cheers and applause.]
You all right? Running into a fire has nothing compared to this stage.
- Oh, I feel you, man.
- Fair enough.
I'm really excited because that these two are gonna be forced to fight each other, and that's gonna be beautiful.
I'm excited, actually, to fight with Blake right now.
[Laughter.]
Thanks a lot, Brandon.
You're getting me in a fight with my girlfriend.
[Laughs.]
We all know, you know, what it takes to sing a Stevie Wonder song.
There is definitely so much bravery and so much [Laughs.]
balls.
[Laughter.]
It's, like, all I can think of to Wow.
Thank you, thank you.
You know what I mean? [Laughs.]
[Applause.]
Let's face it we don't have that much in common.
Mm-hmm.
I love to start fires.
I was gonna say you like to burn things.
I promise you, I can put it out.
- Yeah.
You put it out.
- Promise.
And I wasn't even sure that that was a Stevie Wonder song.
Hey, you're doing great so far.
Pbht! [Laughter.]
But the thing that we have in common is we both love music.
And when you hit that part of the song where it was so syncopated and I was like, "What in the world?! You know, this is incredible this guy," you know? You're like [Southern accent.]
"What style of music is this?" [Laughter and applause.]
Anyway, dude, I do know how to get somebody to the winner's circle.
I've done it more than all three of those put together.
[Audience "Oohs".]
- Wow.
- Oh, no, I didn't.
Well, seeing as he's been here since, like, he was 40 and now he's 80 [Laughter.]
Like, we get it.
Wow.
I'm so happy.
I love when I don't have to do it.
[Laughs.]
Can we get serious for a second? Sure.
There's something about what you do that it was so natural, so pure.
I started off with this music called "ska.
" But then, through the years, I got to work with Dr.
Dre and Eve and hip-hop, and now I've got to work with country artists, and I feel like I've gone all over the place.
I feel different kinds of styles in what you do.
I think that, if we worked together, we could pick the songs that show your personality.
I want to work with you so bad.
Brandon, I want to help you hold your hose.
Uh-oh.
[Laughter.]
- Whoa! - Time out.
Time out, time out.
Brandon, not only should that be grounds for immediate disqualification of that man, but I I'm so happy I get to ask you this in this moment, who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Come on, Brandon! Come on, Brandon! Let's do it! Let's do it! [Laughs.]
- Gwen! - What do you think? - Gwen! - I pick Gwen.
Oh! Oh! Somebody call 911 Shawty fire burning on the dance floor I'm sorry.
Yeah! Whoa-oh [Laughs.]
I gotta cool her down I'm so excited.
- Thank you.
- You're so amazing.
Brandon I really need to figure out, if he were to make a record, what kind of music he's gonna sing.
I have a feeling we have a lot of the same taste in music.
Oh, my God, I got a cool guy on my team! I figured the hose-holding thing would have him locked.
I still don't know how I lost Brandon.
I wanted to be his partner in crime, I wanted to I want to go into that burning building with him.
I don't understand.
Didn't come out right.
[Laughter.]
It didn't come out right.
This is "The Voice" Daly: Welcome back to night three of the blind auditions.
My name is Adam Pearce, I'm 30 years old, and I'm from New Orleans.
I was not musical as a child, but at the end of my senior year in high school, I picked up a guitar, trying to impress the woman that I'm now married to.
And, you know, it it turned out that that's not even her thing.
Like [laughs.]
I was totally was way off mark.
But it turns out that she likes me for me.
I eventually started playing in bands and just fell more and more in love with classic rock.
I've played everywhere from hole-in-the-wall bars that, like, Google doesn't even know where they are to major festivals.
Right now, I'm playing four to six times a week.
The grind of a musician career it's been very strenuous at times.
Thank you.
I'd have a 401(k), you know, if it weren't for the dang guitar.
But I don't regret it.
All right, everybody, thanks for having me.
Good night! Rock 'n' roll.
The audition for "The Voice" will be a major step for me.
You're gonna be great.
I'm not worried about you.
Tookie: I'm really excited.
When he sings, oh, I love it, I love it.
Maybe it's because he's my my son.
She's biased.
Of course.
Of course he's the best.
My baby boy.
[Both laugh.]
This is the biggest audience I'll ever play to [Chuckling.]
in my entire life.
I've been at it for 12 years now.
And my wife has been incredibly understanding, but I'm 30 years old, and I'm ready to go to the next step.
I think it would be a great honor to work with Adam.
He's fronted a rock-'n'-roll outfit, and that's what I'm all about.
Today is the day when it all changes.
There he is.
Daly: Let's go.
We skipped the light fandango Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor I was feeling kinda seasick But the crowd called out for more [Cheers and applause.]
Room was humming harder And so it was [All cheering.]
That later - Go! Come on! Come on! - Come on! As the miller told his tale Go! That her face, at first just ghostly Turned a whiter shade Of pale [Cheers and applause.]
- Oh! - Oh! Ohh! - [Chuckles.]
Oh, wow.
- Man, I'm so mad.
I'm so mad at me not at you.
What's your name, first of all? My name is Adam Pearce.
[Voice breaking.]
We have the same name.
Actually really do this time.
[Laughter.]
You have one of the coolest rock-'n'-roll voices I've heard on this show ever, but the pitchiness affected me.
It needs to be a tiny bit more under control.
Keep the chaos that your voice has, but come back so we can do this.
Okay? - Thank you, thank you.
- Awesome, man, awesome.
[Cheers and applause.]
Yeah, man, I think, if you could hear that back, you'll go, "Oh.
" 'Cause you're such a good singer and I think it's gonna be an easy fix for you.
- Come back and see us, man.
- Thank you all.
- Yeah, man, please come back.
- Will do.
Thank you.
[Applause.]
Adam: Adam was heartbreaking, but the bar gets higher every season It's hard to find a singer that's spectacular.
Needed a little more.
But, man, that God-given, like - Yeah.
- That's so cool.
I've been trying to get that sound out of my voice my whole life.
If I did that, I would never sing again.
[Laughs.]
This is "The Voice" Daly: Welcome back.
Blake: Please tell me that you got to the studio, and you were planning on wearing just a white T-shirt, and you realized how cold it is in here, and last minute, you just took that from some old lady in a wheelchair, and then you rolled her down the hill.
Oh, my God.
- She had it coming.
- Did you [Laughs.]
- Go.
- "She had it coming.
" Daly: As our coaches get settled, let's meet our next artist 21-year-old Julien Martinez from Oxnard, California.
Julien: It's the day of my blind audition.
I'm feeling nervous, and I'm hoping that I have what the coaches are looking for.
I'm balancing a lot right now.
I mean, I'm in a band, I'm going to college, and I'm a paraeducator, which means that I'm a teacher's aide in an after-school program.
But music is so important to be because growing up with ADHD, I was all over the place.
Nobody really wanted to hang out with me, I never really fit in, and music was just kind of always there.
I need "The Voice" because I want people to know what it's like to go from some little kid to something that's big and bold and not afraid to let his freak flag fly.
I'm just hoping that, when I walk through those doors, one of those coaches push that button and launch my career.
He can definitely see you.
He's got it.
[Sighs.]
Well, you've heard about love Givin' sight to the blind My baby's lovin' 'cause the sun to shine Well, she's my sweet little thing She's my pride and joy She's my sweet little baby I'm her little lover boy Yeah I love my lady My heart and soul Love like ours won't never grow old She's my sweet little thing She's my pride and joy She's my sweet little baby I'm her little lover boy Well, I love my lady like the finest wine Stick with her until the end of time She's my sweet little thing She's my pride and joy Oh, she's my sweet little baby I'm her little lover boy Come on! Press it! Come on! She's my sweet little baby I'm her little lover boy Well, she's my sweet little, sweet little Sweet little baby And I'm her lover boy Whoa Yeah! Yeah! [Cheers and applause.]
It was the scream! The scream! - Yeah! I knew it! - I knew it! Whoo-hoo! Whoo! Alicia: Crazy! Wow! That was amazing.
That was crazy.
Well, looks like a classic old-school match-up over here.
[Laughs.]
I can't wait.
First of all, congratulations on not being like, a giant, like, biker.
[Laughter.]
I swear to God, I thought I was gonna turn around and he was gonna be on his Harley still.
I know.
Like [Imitates revving engine.]
- What's your name? - My name is Julien Martinez.
I'm from Oxnard, California.
I'm 21 years old.
- Wow.
- Man.
California.
I'm from California.
[Clicks tongue.]
[Laughter.]
And I work in California a lot.
[Laughter.]
You do.
You do.
How did you end up being a singer? I'm a paraeducator with an after-school program.
What does that mean? Parachutes.
He teaches people how to parachute.
It's cool.
It's great.
I teach meditation and photography.
Yeah, that's what that's what I mean.
Wow, are you serious? - I'm serious, yeah.
- That's so cool, wow.
I mean, I gig every week, and it allows me to express myself.
That's really cool.
What a killer voice.
Thank you so much.
That last note sounded like the birth of Satan or something.
[Laughter.]
I was afraid.
I was like, "He's gonna kill me.
" [Laughs.]
I want to learn how to scream that way at Blake.
Can you help me with that? [Laughter.]
I need you to be on my team, man, because I don't have that manly man rockin' singer on my team.
You have the greatest scream in the music industry.
[Chuckling.]
Oh! It used to be David Lee Roth now it's you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Let's close this deal, man.
It's true he has, like, a hundred girls on his team, and he doesn't have any guys.
But I've been extraordinarily picky this whole time.
And I've really just pushed my button for the people that I believe have that intangible thing.
These California boys, like, belong together, man.
Like, don't be fooled by the dimples and the passion and it's all a lie.
[Laughter.]
I can do an amazing job for you.
I really can.
[Cheers and applause.]
Well, I thought that your performance was incredible.
I love both these guys.
She loves Blake more.
I mean, like, yeah.
[Laughter.]
I think it might be time for you to pick a coach, Julien.
[Laughs.]
[Cheers and applause.]
Come on, Julien! Let's finish it.
[Audience shouting.]
I'm gonna have to pick Come on! Adam.
- Yeah! - Wow! Unh! Julien's awesome, man.
He's a real growly blues singer.
Be fun.
When he let that devil's roar out, you, like, had to the press.
It was pretty crazy.
- Nice job, man! Way to go! - Yes! Whoo-hoo-hoo! [Speaking indistinctly.]
I'm sorry for whatever old lady Adam stole that sweater from that's in here.
[Laughter.]
- Stop it.
Leave Adam alone.
- Nope.
I got a job to do, and that's to piss off Adam.
[Laughter.]
This is "The Voice" Daly: Welcome back.
Nobody does that anymore.
Sorry.
Well, I'm bringing it back.
I'm bringing it back.
[Laughs.]
Quizz: My name is Quizz Swanigan.
Back in your heart I'm from North Little Rock, Arkansas, and I live in Los Angeles, California.
How old are you? You're 13?! That's unbelievable, man.
Yeah, I'm the youngest person on here.
What got you into singing initially? I just listened to my mom sing in the choir.
She was a choir director.
So, when I was 6 years old, my school and I performed "Who's Lovin' You" by Michael Jackson.
And then I got the opportunity to perform with a tribute show to Michael Jackson.
I'm gonna teach you Teach you, teach you How to get an "A" How to get an "A" I portrayed little Michael Jackson, and I perform all over the country.
I was starting to get a lot of opportunities, so me and my family had to make a big sacrifice to move to California.
Courtney: My wife and I we both had to take on different careers to support his dream.
We definitely think it was worth it.
Since I've moved to L.
A.
, I've been doing a lot of auditions, and it's very hard.
I'm thankful for "The Voice" for lowering the age to 13.
I want to be a good role model for my sister, because I feel like I have a big responsibility in my little sister's life.
Good to meet you, man.
I'll be pulling for you.
- I've got to say one thing.
- Thank you.
Yes, sweetheart? The thing that I was gonna say is how love and caring he is.
What a nice thing to say.
- He paid her off.
- Yeah, I'm about to say.
[Laughter.]
I'm about to perform in front of these four legendary music artists.
I'm ready for the magic.
Quizz: I just got to show them that I can do this.
Here we go.
There he is right there.
Look.
[Sighs.]
When I Had you I treated you bad And wrong, my dear And, girl, since Since you been gone away Don't you know I sit around With my head hanging down And I wonder Who's lovin' you Ah, ah, ah All [Cheering.]
Come on, Alicia! - Put your hand there! - Come on, Alicia, please! All I can do, ha All I can do, oh Since you've been gone is cry Don't you know I sit around With my head, girl, hanging down And I wonder Who's There we go! Yes! Oh, my God! Lovin' you - Whoo! - Yes! I, I gotta know Yeah, yeah, yeah [Cheers and applause.]
- Yeah! - What?! Whoo! Okay, wow.
What's your name? My name is Quizz.
How old are you? I'm 13.
- Whoa! - 13? - I felt it.
- We've never had someone 13.
Well, Quizz, congratulations, man.
- You made it.
You made it.
- Thank you so much.
Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Quizz, I could tell by the way that you handled that front run that you had such a special thing about you, and then I knew you were super young, and I see all this energy inside of you and all this light.
And that voice has a really, really powerful innocent fluid thing, 'cause you're not only in your head, you know what I mean? - Yes, ma'am.
- You're just in your heart.
And I felt your heart, Quizz, so Quizz: Thank you.
Thank you so much.
- So I just turned around.
- You're amazing, by the way.
- I love you so much.
- Thank you.
And Gwen turned around, too.
I was ecstatic! I wanted to copy you, 'cause you're so incredible! I'm like, "Come on.
" No.
- I was like - Oh, where we go, man.
No, no.
Quizz, this is a big deal right now, 'cause Alicia and Gwen are gonna be going at it for the first time.
I can't wait to see the rainbow battle between the two, the the cotton candy fights.
[Laughter.]
Well? I think back to when I first saw Alicia play - at the House of Blues.
- Yeah.
I think she was as small as you.
Like, she was this little, tiny boo-boo.
I was like, "How is she so gifted?" But you guys look the same age.
I'm so confused.
We We are.
Yeah.
[Laughs.]
When you hear a song that's so known, and then you hear a new, fresh version of it, I mean, to have that kind of instinct with your voice - is crazy, so - Thank you, thank you.
Thank you so much.
This is just crazy right now, like - He's so cool.
- Who taught you this? - Like, who taught you? - My mom and my dad.
I'm really grateful for them to be here, and I'm just thinking how I love them so much.
Do you want to bring mom and dad out? And my little sister! [Cheers and applause.]
Mwah! Oh, my gosh! - Oh! - Hi! Hi, beautiful family.
Oh, you know, family is everything, and I would just love to be your coach because I feel like I can help to show you how to sing with even more intention and purpose.
Adam: That's a good sell.
I do hope you're on Team Alicia.
Wow.
She's so right.
I know she is, but you're not supposed to admit that.
She's so right.
You taught me how to spell bananas.
There you go.
[Laughter.]
Listen to me.
You can be on Team Gwen, and I can teach you how to spell everything.
[Laughter, cheers and applause.]
Who do you pick as your coach? Oh, man, I got to think about this.
Uh [Audience shouting.]
All right.
Um I pick Alicia.
[Cheers and applause.]
A, B, C It's easy as 1, 2, 3 As simple as do-re-mi, A, B, C, 1, 2, 3 I'm super excited to work with Alicia Keys.
In my mind, I'm racing, doing back flips and everything.
This is just crazy.
Oh! Quizz is my little Michael Jackson star.
He has raw talent, so now I think it's about really taking him to the next place.
And I have a feeling it's gonna be kind of crazy.
A, B, C, 1, 2, 3, baby, you and me, girl Would be jammin' until the break of dawn Daly: You can buy full versions of tonight's blind audition songs on iTunes.
I'm gonna let him fly Or listen to them on Apple Music.
Coming up I would do cartwheels to have you on my team.
But I have been beaten down so many times.
[Laughs.]
- Thank you very much.
- Wow.
- Wait, are you lea - Wow.
I just need to be left alone right now! This is "The Voice" Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
My question is, do y'all think you will ever get a country artist from me? I know that I will get a country artist from you.
Oh! Cute that they still think that they can do it.
If anyone's gonna get one, it's me.
[Laughs.]
Casi: My name is Casi Joy.
I'm gonna see if we can speed this up a bit.
Would that be all right with you? [Cheers and applause.]
I'm from Kansas City, Missouri, but I have been living in Nashville for almost two years now with my fiancé, Bryan.
Currently, I'm playing downtown on Broadway in the honky-tonks.
I'm playing just for tips, so there's definitely a financial struggle.
Oh! Thank you so much.
Whoo.
Bryan is my sound man, roadie, driver, lifter of heavy things.
Bryan: I try to wear about as many hats as I can.
She's never asked me to sing, thank goodness.
Casi: Nashville is definitely competitive.
I'm like a teeny, tiny minnow in an ocean of amazing talent.
"The Voice" is my chance to really stand out.
Oh.
To see this dream come true right now it's just we're so proud.
Kleenexes, anybody? [Laughter.]
I'll be singing "Blue" by LeAnn Rimes.
It was one of the very first songs that inspired me to be a singer.
If a coach turns around, I feel like my head's gonna explode.
All right.
Blake, don't turn around if it's a country artist.
Well, I can't promise you that.
All right.
She's nervous.
Blue Wow.
Oh, so lonesome for you Why can't you be blue Nice! Two seconds.
Over me? Whoo! Blue [Rhythmic clapping.]
Oh, so lonesome for you Tears fill my eyes Till I can't see Now that it's over I realize Those weak words you whispered Wow! Were nothing but lies Blue Oh, so lonesome for you Why can't you be blue Over Me? [Cheers and applause.]
Wow! Wow! [Cheers and applause continue.]
Wow! - You are so good! - Wow.
Well, let me find out her name.
Let me find out her name.
What's your name? My name is Casi Joy.
I'm 26, and I'm from Kansas City.
[Cheers and applause.]
And you're so unbelievable.
It's everything I love.
Like, this show has been so inspiring for me, and I'm always gonna remember that performance.
That was so magical.
So I would love to work with you.
Thank you! [Laughs.]
Hey, Casi Casi, listen, I would do cartwheels to have you on my team.
I would literally try to leap over the moon and back for you.
And by the way, the yodeling, it's the craziest thing I've ever heard.
But I have been beaten down so many times by hearing a voice like yours, which clearly is rooted in that traditional country thing.
So I'm not gonna get my hopes up because I am too exhausted.
[Laughter.]
- Thank you.
- Whoa.
- Thank you very much.
- Wow.
[Cheers and applause.]
- Wait, are you lea - Wow.
[Laughs.]
Alicia: Listen to me.
I would suggest for you to focus on the two newer, fresher, more exciting women Casi.
Wait a minute.
Don't throw me in that.
that are before you.
You know what I mean? Because I think what happens is Adam, come sit with me.
It's gonna be okay.
I just need to be left alone right now! Adam! [Laughter.]
I am not tired.
I feel like I'm just in my prime.
[Cheers and applause.]
Casi, when my chair turned around, you looked me like, "You better turn around.
" You did take a second.
But when you started, because I know that song so well that song was an instant classic.
[Laughter.]
[Cheers and applause.]
What you did to this room and all four of us coaches is the same thing that happened when LeAnn Rimes came out with that song.
Somebody yodels? The fact that you have already mastered that, I am not giving up until Casi is on my team, because this is meant to freakin' be.
It is.
[Chuckling.]
Thank you.
The most shocking thing would be for you to choose me, so that we could absolutely create magic moments together, exploring music that does what you just did.
And if, for some reason, you didn't want to shock the world and choose me shock the world and choose Gwen.
Because you're going to be able to get two for one.
- Ooh.
- I did have that thought.
But I have sang in all genres, so I'm not just country.
What kind of record, like, would you want to make? I love country music, but maybe kind of a mixture.
I don't know.
Pop, rock I don't know.
I'm I'm ready to see where where this show takes me, despite the yodeling.
- Yeah! Come on! Yes! - [Laughs.]
I'd like to retract some of my previous statements.
[Laughter.]
Those were the rantings of a madman.
I I, uh I've changed.
I've changed, Casi.
I accept that.
I'm a new man! [Cheers and applause.]
What if you chose me? That's crazy! Like, why would you do that? That's the worst decision ever.
Or is it the best decision ever? [Laughter.]
I don't know.
I can't tell.
You decide.
Okay, so who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Come on, Casi Joy! I pick Blake.
Yeah! Baby, you look good all day, all night You look good, so fresh, so fine Attagirl, Casi! Yes! You look good Got everybody watching you Nice job.
Whoo! Like cameras in Hollywood I was getting worried for a minute.
I wasn't.
Baby, you look good You are so unbelievably talented.
- Thank you.
- Oh, my God.
Baby, you look good Casi is an absolute breath of fresh air.
Wow! Wow! [Laughs.]
Baby, you look good I couldn't be happier right now, 'cause I do think she's somebody that can win this thing.
[Cheers and applause continue.]
Dang it! Nice job, Casi! You look good - Oh! - Team Blake! You look good - Oh! - What? She was good.
Come on, baby, you look good Whoa.
What a show.
Sheesh! Baby, you look good
" [Cheers and applause.]

- Whoa!
