1 [Overlapping screams and shouts.]
Hollywood! [Cheering.]
This is what they wanted- a chance to prove they're worthy of the most sought after title in television history.
But to get there - No! - You have to step up.
They'll have to survive the most intense week of their - lives.
- Yay! - I don't want to go home.
- This is Hollywood week.
The best singers in the country will converge on this stage, fighting for their spot in the top 40.
- I need this so bad.
- Amidst such strong competition, they'll have to leave it all on the stage You better sing like your life depends on it.
This is your shot.
Because this judging panel is tougher than ever and will accept only the very best.
- [Overlapping off-key vocals.]
- Wow.
Good thing that's over.
I think your confidence is really shot.
- You fell apart for me today.
- Shocking eliminations will shake you to the core as dreams are laid to waste.
I gotta go back home and pretty much let everyone know I'm a failure.
- [Crying.]
But when the stars align [Cheers and applause.]
It's magic.
We needed that right now.
That's what it's all about.
It was a stone groove smash hit wonder.
That is an artist! - Only 20 guys - It's my dream.
That's all of our dreams.
And 20 girls My problem isn't the [Bleep.]
lyrics.
- Will make the cut.
- Will your favorite be one of them? [Dramatic music.]
[Upbeat techno music.]
[Knock at door.]
[Door hinges squeak.]
Gurpreet, get up, my dear.
It's time to go to Hollywood.
- Yeah! - Come on, get up.
[Laughs.]
Somebody's in there.
- We're going to Hollywood.
- Right now? - Yes! - It's time to try out and go for your dream.
Today is the big day.
All right, let's do this.
Whoo! You need to pack for American idol auditions in Los Angeles, - right? - Yes! - Is that where it is? - Yes, mama! Contestants from across the country are packing their bags and making their way to Hollywood.
Bye! [Rock music.]
Here we are for a flight trip that might change our lives, and I'm here with some of my own competition right now.
And I'm gonna crush him.
They're revved up with anticipation - I'm, like, fre freaking out.
- But it's hard to contain your excitement Hollywood! Whoo! When you're so close to a dream Yes, baby, Hollywood week! Let's go! - Yeah, boy! - Just show me the judges and I'm gonna do my thing.
And each of them is eager to make a name for themselves Oh, there are stars on the catwalk! I'm gonna be a star.
Watch and see.
But in order to do that, they'll have to survive the biggest test of their talent that they will ever face, right here on this stage.
- Whoo! [Overlapping chatter.]
This place is new.
- It is.
- Now, you may have noticed something different about this group of Hollywood contestants.
- This is all just guys.
- I haven't seen a female, yo.
They're aren't any girls.
That's because you'll see the - ladies next week.
- I'm mad.
But for now, it's guy versus guy, making the competition all the more vicious.
Guys, come on down.
As the contestants settle into their seats - [Whistles.]
- Our judges arrive with high expectations.
This is gonna separate the men from the boys.
Hollywood week, it's very exciting.
It does feel a bit like the hunger games, so we'll see who gets to the weaponry first.
[Cheers and applause.]
Here we are.
Wow.
[Cheers and applause.]
You'd better sing like your life depends on it today.
This is your shot.
Keep it true to who you are, be yourself, and enjoy it.
I think if you just quietly burn, we'll recognize it and see it, so.
I'm rooting for each and every one of you.
God bless you, and have an amazing day.
[Cheers and applause.]
Are you ready, boys? [Cheers and applause.]
So, it's an inspiring start to the auditions, as our judges take their seats and the competition begins.
Here we go.
4, 3, very quiet.
For this round, each group of guys will come out in a line of ten.
Then they'll sing a cappella to prove they have got what it takes for our new panel of judges.
And this round is sudden death.
The contestants will be given their result immediately.
You're either moving on You're through to the next round.
- Or headed straight home.
- Um, unfortunately, it's a no.
But it's not only the judges the contestants must impress.
Their families are looking on from the balcony, so there's a lot on the line for the morning's contestants.
This is like the be all, end all right here.
I've put in a lot of work to get to this point but, you know, bottom line, there's even more work to be done.
I don't intend on going home today.
What do you think of this so far? Any thoughts? I kind of wish the girls were - here.
- Same here.
- Me too.
- I'm glad the girls aren't here.
No drama.
- No distractions.
- But that leaves plenty of time to focus on the magnitude of this moment as the first line takes the stage, featuring a contestant we first met at our long beach auditions.
My name is Micah Johnson.
I'm 24.
Um, I'm in the U.
S.
Navy, and I'm from Georgia.
I recently got my tonsils removed and the doctor that did my tonsils hit some nerves and, uh, left me talking with a speech impediment.
Oh, but they're weird and they're wonderful oh, bennie she's really keen she's got electric boots a mohair suit you know I read it in a magazine [cheering and laughter.]
b-b-b-bennie and the jets yeah! [Cheers and applause.]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! The judges seem impressed, but Micah must wait for the rest of the line to sing before he hears his fate.
'Cause I can't make you love me.
Very superstitious I closed my eyes and I slipped away if I can show one person who has a disability that they don't have to let that define them, then I think that that was the best thing.
You have an amazing voice.
You lit up the entire room.
We are sending you right on through.
Yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah! So, Hollywood week starts off in style with Micah, Peter, mathenee, and Devin continuing their journey.
But the yeses didn't stop there - You're going through too.
- As some other idol favorites rise to the occasion, like Oklahoma city's Nate tao As long as I know I have love, I can make it everybody liked you a lot.
[Cheers and applause.]
Resident Baker Gabe brown from the Chicago auditions.
Yeah and the flood is threatening a standing ovation.
Look at that.
And the turbanator, gurpreet Singh sarin, who debuted in new York.
- Do you think I want my loved one gone? That's a yes from us.
[Cheers and applause.]
And hoping to keep the good streak going is 26-year-old Karl Skinner.
Hey hey [laughter.]
I feel good [pop music.]
I started today off and I drank a can of Coca-Cola.
And then I drank some coffee.
And then I drank another can of Coca-Cola.
And then I got on the bus with two cans of Coca-Cola.
I don't think I'm touching anything but coke today, 'cause it's got me rolling.
[Screams.]
I know you want to leave me but I refuse to let you go if I gotta beg plead for your sympathy I don't mind 'cause you mean that much to me ain't too proud to beg sweet darling please don't leave me, girl - all right, all right.
- Thank you very much.
All Karl can do now is wait as the rest of the line has their chance to impress the judges.
- I can't give any more.
- Drop a heart - try.
- All right, thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
I'm from a place that's the pinnacle of fighting every round, and I want to give them something to be proud of.
[Dramatic music.]
- All right, Karl.
Killer dance moves, man.
It was like [laughs.]
Crazy, crazy grooves going on.
But, um, vocally, we couldn't all sort of agree on that, so, unfortunately, it's a no today.
But I got to see your face go And it made my day.
Karl falls at the first hurdle, and we also say good-bye to Baton Rouge firefighter Dustin watts.
I must be doin' something right - it just didn't measure up.
- Okay.
- Thank you.
- Singing doctor Calvin Peters.
- But I'm not the only one.
- Keep going, but, for us, the journey's going to have to stop here.
It's 2 P.
M.
here in Hollywood, and the last contestant before lunch takes the stage.
How's it going? I'm Cortez Shaw, 22 years old, from Dallas, Texas.
I'm gonna sing I will always love you by Whitney Houston.
and I will always love you I I will always love you I will always love you - whoo! [Cheers and applause.]
Thank you.
I represent the kid that literally grew up from having nothing.
I really want to be that light for somebody else.
I had "no.
" I had "yes.
" I thought he was fantastic.
- I liked him a lot.
- Stay tuned as the judges clash over Cortez.
I'm talking.
Can I say what I thought? I honestly felt that you did a poor job.
And the remaining contestants battle it out for a spot in the group round.
Uhoh, uh-oh, uh-oh! [Dramatic music.]
[Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to Hollywood week, where, after a poor song choice - and I.
Cortez Shaw is awaiting his fate.
Mr.
Cortez Shaw.
[Dramatic music.]
I personally enjoyed you a lot.
Um Can I say what I thought about you? Because I honestly felt that you did a poor job at that song and I was very, very disgusted by - it.
- You ain't Whitney.
I would have sent you home, hands down, with that audition, and I think the other guys should know that.
Uh, okay.
We deliberated.
Um, it wasn't unanimous.
But congratulations.
You got another shot.
[Cheers and applause.]
I gotta say, that audition was good, but, ugh, I gotta do better, I gotta do better.
As Cortez celebrates in the lobby, onstage, the judges are blown away by 24-year-old Curtis Finch.
Lord, I need you now oh I need you now, right now yes, right now I need you now ooh.
It's a big yes from us.
And then there was 25-year-old Frankie Ford.
Love was made for me and you you're going through.
Off you go.
And we'll see these guys tomorrow in group round.
- Yeah! We did it! - Hoping to join them there is 21-year-old lazaro arbos from the Chicago auditions.
- Hello.
Hi.
- Hi.
So, my name is l-l-l-lazaro, and I think I can be, um, the next American idol b-b-because, um, singing has saved me from so much I've gone through in my whole my whole life.
[Piano music.]
Living with a s-s-stutter is really hard.
I had no friends to go out with, so I'd be home.
Yeah.
[Laughs.]
I'm not a guy with a lot of self-c-c-confidence.
I've and so, I'm so I'm a bit scared and and petrified.
The song I'm go going to sing is [stuttering.]
It's it's a ro ro Robbie Williams song, and it's called angels.
And through it all she offers me protection a lot of love and affection whether I'm right or wrong and down the waterfall wherever it may take me I know that life won't break me when I come to call she won't forsake me I'm loving angels instead [Cheers and applause.]
Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Now it's lazaro's turn to sweat it out, while the rest of his line performs, before learning the judges' verdict.
I'm scared, but, uh, I'm excited at the s-s-same time.
- All right, let's go.
- Lazaro, it is extraordinary how, when you start singing, it's it's a it's so clear and full and beautiful, and you just simply must go on, so you're going through.
[Cheers and applause.]
- Congratulations.
- So, lazaro moves on to the - next round.
- Bye.
- Thank you, boys.
- And doing their best to join him there are sgt.
Trevor blakney Play me a song Curtis loew Curtis loew - Bryant tadeo.
- Afraid I will fall.
- And Charles Allen.
Walking on cloud nine you got me up so high - thank you.
- Yeah.
- Wow.
Wow.
- It's an easy yes for these - guys.
- Congratulations.
You're through to the next round.
- You're gonna continue on.
- Well, sort of.
Bryant.
Hi, how are you? What have you been doing today? Stressed out.
Stressing? Have you been staying up? Yeah.
I'm a little tired, but - tired? - Yeah.
- Okay.
- I'm excited at the same time.
Well, it's good that you're tired, because we're sending you home, and you're gonna get a lot of time to sleep at home.
I'm kidding.
You're through.
[Pop music.]
Nicki, God! Good one.
This is a rule.
You never say you're tired.
He's not gonna be tired anymore.
- She's fully serious.
- Don't ever say you're tired ever again! [Laughter.]
- I was so tired.
- It's 7 P.
M.
and time for the last line of the day, featuring 28-year-old Brian rittenberry.
- How are y'all doing? - All right.
Yeah, I'm gonna sing Brian mcknight, back at one, for my wife.
Brian first auditioned in Charlotte, where he was accompanied by his wife Megan, who, despite battling cancer, was there to support her husband.
You're going to Hollywood.
Oh, man! Man, I look at my wife, and I'm just in awe because, you know, the odds were completely stacked against her.
Thank you, babe.
She's here with me this week.
I want to make it all it can be.
Four repeat steps one through three five make you fall in love with me if ever I believe my work is done - he's loud.
- Then I'll start back at one [Cheers and applause.]
The qualities I've got to be the next American idol is, I've got the heart and the soul and the determination.
So, it wasn't a unanimous decision here, but, um [Tranquil music.]
It just seems that, for now, the whirlwind has to end here.
I don't know what I could have done differently.
I thought I nailed it.
I feel like they made a mistake, but, hey.
- Aw.
- You did good.
We'll see what happens next.
I'm going home.
I've got a healthy wife and a beautiful son and I'm blessed anyway.
So, Brian leaves us on day one of Hollywood week, along with half of the guy contestants.
But those remaining can't celebrate yet because they must prepare for the hardest 24 hours of their lives.
Coming up - Group round! - Group's tough, man.
- The notorious group round - You got egos clashing.
- This is my dream.
- Where boys become men - Are you kidding me? - And weakness is not tolerated.
Stop apologizing, please! With so much riding on it, they'll need to take the bull by the horns I'm mostly concerned about myself.
Or risk getting tossed.
- My goodness, no.
- After the break, it's time to man up.
They will not deny me.
[Dramatic music.]
[Upbeat techno music.]
- Yeah, buddy.
- Group round! [Dramatic music.]
For the past 11 seasons, group night has been the most dreaded night of Hollywood week.
Medic, please.
[Siren.]
What you don't do is listen.
- Stop, stop, stop.
- It is the most demanding and strenuous evening in the competition.
I don't want to be here anymore.
- This is it for me.
- It's not working out.
Not working out at all.
This is the reason why I don't do groups.
And this year will be no - different.
- Group night.
That's gonna be rough.
By this time tomorrow, many of these boys will be packing their bags and heading home.
- This is gonna be hard.
- Yeah.
This is gonna be real stressful for me.
Hoping to gain an advantage, many of the guys began forming groups from the moment they knew they were moving on to the next round.
- We're going to the group round.
We decided to do the same song, and that's what we're kind of sticking to right now.
- [Singing high note in unison.]
- The song we picked out right now, we're deadly with it, I promise you.
I think a lot of people are trying to set up who they want - to be in their group.
- Whoa! But this year, there is a special twist.
As the kids settle into the theater We, uh we're waiting to get instructions for group night.
I don't know, uh, what's gonna happen.
Executive producers Ken Warwick and Nigel lythgoe are about to lay down the new laws.
In years past, it was up to the contestants to form their own group.
Um, this is the first time, across all of the seasons, that we are deciding who goes in what group.
- What? - And the other thing is, once we've put you in a group, you cannot change your gup.
- [Bleep.]
, it's unreal.
- As soon as I call your name out, I'd like you to go up onstage and start working out what you're gonna sing.
The first group And so, the tables have turned - This is crazy.
- And now the boys have to start fresh with new introductions - Are we together? - Yeah.
- [Gasps.]
- Johnny.
Kevin.
Kevin.
Collaborating with voices and personalities they might not have chosen.
I was saying, "sweet Jesus", "don't let me be with certain people," and I think that got me in trouble.
Now, these casted groups collectively need to choose a song from a list of 20 So, let's figure out what we've got.
- That they all agree on - Let's do it, man.
- Let's get cracking.
- Then choreograph a routine - Step two, and four.
- And master the lyrics We gotta do a little verse.
[Laughs.]
- All in one night.
- Josh Stevens, Scott fleenor, lazaro arbos, and Christian Lopez, get up there.
Onstage, our first group is realizing they may have a problem right off the bat.
What's your name? - Christian.
- Christian.
And you - my name is lazaro.
- Hauser? - L-l-l-lazaro.
- And communication isn't the only isn't the only issue for Cuban-born lazaro.
- Uh, moves like Jagger? - No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, here.
Yeah.
You know, lazaro, he's-he's not from around here, so, um, he didn't know a lot of the songs.
In all honesty, it's, like, the eas it's the easiest verse and it's the easiest chorus.
He didn't know the song and didn't feel comfortable learning a new song at all.
I don't know that song that well.
All right, groups.
Let's go, let's go.
Like it or not, time is of the essence, and decisions have to be made.
If you've got your group, go to the lobby.
Let's go! Army sergeant Trevor blakney, who auditioned in Baton Rouge, and country crooner Lee pritchard are having a hard time seeing eye to eye with our resident divas, Joel wayman and jada davila.
What do you guys think? I do feel like this group is very eclectic.
Look at the songs.
Think of something else other than Jason aldean.
Something other than country.
Step outside your box.
Yeah, um It's it's gonna be tough, just integrating the different genres.
I'm I'm open to it.
You know, at first we were wanting to do moves like Jagger, and I'm like, "oh, hell no.
" We'll see if sgt.
Blakney can whip this outfit into shape.
Meanwhile, the couch potatoes, with Curtis Finch, Nick Mathis, and Charlie askew Very interesting combination.
- Hi, guys.
- Started out in a spirit of cooperation.
It started with a whisper close enough.
Right away, other groups are getting a jumpstart with the vocal coaches.
- Hold on, I'm comin' - Oh, oh, oh, oh - I'll be there.
- Group normal hills, with idol veteran Johnny keyser, is trying to keep up with vocal coach.
Michael orland.
You have a little work to do, 48821.
Back in the theater, mark, Chris, gurpreet, and Peter, are taking their time to get to know each other.
Everybody else has done it.
- Everyone.
- I think everybody knows what - we're singing.
- Well If we probably had to pick our group, it would be a disaster, and this is gonna be awesome, so And these fast friends have a sudden revelation about a group - name.
- Wait! - Oh! - What about three men and a - baby? - Three men and a baby? Are you kidding me? That's messed up.
But everybody wants to put me down already hard at work are the mathheads.
- I'm going crazy.
- Mathenee treco, Nick boddington, mateus fernandes, and Gabe brown have hit the ground running and are feeling confident.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Whoo! And as time is ticking by, rehearsals everywhere are in full swing.
I got everything that a man could want well, my baby she's all right.
You don't know, oh, oh oh, you don't know you're beautiful if only you saw what I can see you'll understand why I want you so desperately.
Over in the rehearsal space, group oz with Frankie, Adam, Charles, and papa peachez are having last minute doubts about their song.
I really don't feel like we should change our songs this late in the game.
It's not late in the game.
The game just started, honey.
Adam, it's late in the game, boo.
Like, seriously, like, we have hey, anybody got a knife so I can cut the tension? There's no there's no there's no tension.
- Just kidding, just kidding.
- There's no tension.
It's just the way we communicate.
Look, t's rough around the edges right now, but you know what? Everyone starts off in their group rough around the edges.
Look, Rome wasn't built in a day, right? No, but we only have a day to build a song.
There's more than enough time.
Trust me that.
As it gets later and later, the energy is beginning to - fizzle.
- Good night.
I'm pretty tired, obviously, but, you know, we have to work hard to make it to the next round.
It's now 4 A.
M.
back at the hotel, and frustrations are setting in for country queen.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, make sure you guys pull up your microphone stands.
- One, two, three, four.
- Are we on the right thing? - Yeah.
- I keep losing the words too.
- All right, take a shot.
- We're still up, doing our, uh, dance choreography for our thing.
And Trevor is starting to question his group mates' priorities.
You are gonna get these lyrics.
They're not that hard.
It's not that it's like, we're not focusing on the lyrics.
We're focusing on this [Bleep.]
Line dance.
I'm trying to help you, man.
Focusing more on the glamorous side of it, I guess.
You know, it's just stupid.
Just put dresses on all of us and let's go up there and glitter out, I reckon.
I'm part of your team, and I'm just trying to help you just as much to get to the end with me.
I get that, but I just think we need to focus more on the singing part right now.
But once we get the singing down, then worry about the stupid dance, but okay, so, let's then, say that.
You're part of this group too.
I get that, but I ain't really had a say so since the start of this damn thing.
It's been queen the [Bleep.]
out is what it's been.
- No.
- We're having a little bit of trouble here.
You know, the stress level's a little bit high.
I think we've got some serious frustration going on over there.
How 'bout we learn the words with that paper first? We're wasting time, having this little, small argument about I'm I'm not arguing.
I'm just saying, I need to learn what's the point in sitting here? Let's go find a space.
Okay.
We're, uh, experiencing some technical difficulties, you - know.
- Here.
While we walk, read.
No, don't do that.
You need the lyric sheet, man.
It's supposed to be while.
I sit over here and help Trevor learn the lyrics.
Hey, Trevor, get over here.
We're gonna sing together as as a group.
Come here.
- This sucks.
- Not to say but if you only knew more than words because we haven't slept in, like, almost 24 hours.
[Laughter.]
That may help us.
Do it again.
Almost at their breaking point, country queen has decided to part ways to get what little sleep they can as dawn rises on group day.
Up next, will the guys be ready for the biggest performance of their lives? - American girl.
- Whoo! Yay! My favorite group! My favore group! - It's time to go big - [Sustaining high note.]
- Or go home.
- So, you have to come and compete.
Frankie, please! Please! I'm here to send him home in the first place.
I just want to go home.
I just want to go home right now.
[Upbeat techno music.]
[Alarm beeping.]
- Ready? Hey.
- Hmm? [Laughs.]
Oh, man.
We have to be downstairs, like, five minutes ago.
What time is it? Good morning, American idol hopefuls.
Time to wake up.
Wake up, buddy.
Group rehearsals are over [Pop music.]
and today is performance day.
- No.
- I'm a little tired.
- Leave me alone.
- I can't find anything.
No! - Hey.
- These guys face their toughest challenge yet.
Sleep or no sleep, there aren't second chances.
- oh, yeah.
Get dressed, get ready.
It's group day.
[Dramatic music.]
I'm a little concerned, actually, about a couple of the contestants and how they're gonna hold up.
I think they haven't slept in, like, two days or something.
You got egos clashing, you got crazy personalities, and everybody still needs to be a star.
Even if it's a group, man, you gotta show you.
It's gonna be hard today to make cuts.
Today, the groups will have the added pressure to perform live with the American idol band, and even though they'll be performing as a group, they'll be judged individually.
There's more drama than last night.
- It's crazy, it's crazy.
- If they make it through, it's on to the solo round.
If not, they're eliminated on the spot.
This group has had very little sleep, very little rehearsal, but a huge task ahead of them.
The first ever all guys group round starts right now.
They'd had a smooth night of rehearsal [Laughs.]
And emerged that morning all smiles.
I'm really excited.
Really, really excited to do this, especially with this group of people.
Oh, yeah, I'm excited too.
These guys are so freaking cool.
As the guys waited, mateus took the last few precious minutes to rehearse.
This moment had been a long time coming.
You know, I'd been to many different doctors when I was younger, but they couldn't "really figure anything out.
They were just like, "dude, you know, it's not a hormonal problem.
"You're not disproportionate.
Like, you're just plain short.
" God, please help me.
I've been fighting for so long for this.
Can all: anybody find me somebody to love? - each morning I get up I die a little can barely stand on my feet - take a look in the mirror.
- Take a look in the mirror and cry.
Lord, what you're doin' to me I spent all my years in believing you.
And lord can't get no relief, lord somebody - all: somebody.
- Somebody - all: somebody.
- Can anybody find me - somebody to love? - Whoo! Every day I try and I try and I try everybody wants to put me down they say I'm going crazy.
They say I got a lot of water in my brains I got no common sense he's got nobody left to believe - yeah.
- All: can anybody find me - somebody to.
- Somebody to - somebody to.
- Somebody to - all: love.
- Yeah! [Cheers and applause.]
Whoo! [Laughter.]
- Wow.
Wow.
- Great job, guys.
- Way to start the day.
- Way to start the day.
- Yes.
Good morning, guys.
How are you? - Fantastic.
- That was pretty impressive.
I think you guys really gelled well.
I liked the falsettos.
You guys had a great blend.
You came in strong.
However, today's the day that [suspenseful music.]
Wow.
Okay.
Mateus, could you step forward? Bodding, could you step forward, please? mathenee, can you step forward, please? Okay.
Okay thank y oh! Gabe, can you step forward please, my darling? it looks like you're all going through to the next round.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Upbeat music.]
You guys did an amazing job.
You should be so proud of yourselves.
All four guys are through to tomorrow's solo round.
- Great group! - Thank you, guys.
- Yay! - Get some sleep.
Great start of the day.
Great group.
No pressure over there.
Absolutely a great group.
- Wow.
- Great group.
- Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! - I'm in, I'm in, I'm in.
We made it! We made it through! We made it! Gabe's got to go and change - quickly.
- Exactly.
- All right, man, let's go.
- Ow, my [Bleep.]
! [Laughter.]
Let's go get some sleep, man.
Come on, let's go get some sleep, let's go.
[Upbeat techno music.]
It's 11 A.
M.
, and the Hollywood week venue is buzzing with the nervous energy of groups rehearsing their lyrics Some kind of wonderful - yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Harmonies, and choreography.
[Overlapping chatter.]
Hoping they've got their act together is our next group of the day, normal hills.
This is a good group here too, though.
- It's a good group.
- All these boys can sing, so let's see who falls apart.
Included in this group is returning contestant Johnny keyser - Hello, hello.
- Who grabbed Nicki's attention back in Chicago.
Do you have a girlfriend? - Nope.
- Really? Okay.
And I think that's a good place to start.
Last night, the guys were fully confident with their song choice, especially Johnny.
We're coming to a quick agreement.
We're gonna go straight into reach out (I'll be there) By the four tops, and we're gonna start running it.
- I'll be there.
- But the next morning, it was a very different story as the words began to disappear.
I took a risk by picking a song that I wasn't really com comfortable with and I didn't even know the lyrics to, so after a nightless sleep of trying to rehearse, I'm still fighting with them to try and just, I hope they come out right onstage.
Now when you feel that your love is gone you look inside and love is strong [Mumbling.]
- Aw! - Come on.
Just holding lovin' by [Mumbling.]
Darlin', reach out come on, baby hon, I need you with me All: I'll be there with a love that sees you.
Through wow.
Wow.
- Um, okay.
Who chose the song? I thought we could make it work.
Yeah.
Take a song that I never heard before and you've never heard that song before? - I haven't.
- Never heard it.
- What planet are you from? - [Laughs.]
- Who heard it before? - Are you serious? Good lord.
Who's heard it before? I'm from Australia and I know that song.
That's crazy.
That's understandable that you never heard the song before.
I can understand that.
- But you know the song.
- I know the song, but - it's been everywhere, though.
- It's kind of a classic song.
- I know, but it's - Anyway [Talking quietly.]
Johnny, um, I like your voice, I mean, uh but I just felt it was it was, I think your confidence is really shot, and I reiterate, for me, you know, all four of you have got great voices.
That's how you've made it this far, so, all right.
Uh, kareem, step forward, man.
Unfortunately, kareem, we have to say good-bye to you.
And the other three guys, you guys are all going through.
It's a bittersweet moment as Johnny barely scrapes through and we say good-bye to group member kareem.
I mean, I've been excited the whole time.
Never been this, like, excited a day in my life.
Know what I'm saying? We were friends when we first became a group.
I think we're a family by now.
- Yeah.
- And throughout the theater, that's exactly what was happening, as strangers who found themselves thrown together were now uniting in a common - goal.
- Just to be able to collaborate with them is just a privilege.
But working with anyone was going to be tough for Charlie askew.
When I was little, I wasn't able to reach out and connect with people socially or verbally.
[Bird calls.]
[Birds singing.]
I've been singing for birds all my life, and now I get to sing for the big time.
How'd the last 24 hours go, boys? Curtis, how'd it go? Interesting.
Very interesting combination.
Hi, guys.
What's happening? What's going on? Things seemed to be going well for the trio early in the evening I keep losing the shorter new one.
I gotta figure out his name first.
But when Charlie started feeling ill, the true colors came out.
That's our teammate.
He's down at the moment, so we we gotta look out for him.
I'm here to send him home, in the first place, so I'll help him pack and escort him to the shuttle to the airport.
If all else fails, I'll just worry about myself so I can be on American idol and not American airlines.
But with only hours to go, Charlie was feeling better.
I'm trying to get it all out of my system, and I think by the time that our group goes up there, I will be fine.
Dude, you got it, man.
You gonna be hot, man.
Even despite, you know, the situation we're all competitors, at the same time, it also taught me to have, you know, good sportsmanship.
This is when Charlie was sick, you know you know, we looked out for him, you know, 'cause he was down at the moment.
That really meant a lot.
It did.
[The lazy song playing.]
- oh, yes, I said it I said it said it 'cause I can all: today, I don't feel like doing anything - gonna kick my feet up.
- Yeah.
Stare at the fan put my hand in my pants listen I was loungin' on the couch in my snuggie I clicked mtv on so they can teach m how to Dougie - whoo! Ain't nobody gonna tell me I ain't a man listen yes, I said it - he said it - I said it.
- He said it - 'cause I can - whoo! - Ooh help me, fellas.
- Come on.
All: today I don't feel like doing anything I don't feel like doing anything all: I just wanna lay in my bed I just wanna I just wanna lay in my bed so leave a message at the tone I don't care today, I swear I'm not doing anything nothing at.
All all: all [cheers and applause.]
- Whoo! - Thank you! - Whoo! [Applause.]
Eh, that was all right.
Yo, wow.
We needed that right now, today, at this moment.
Yeah, we did.
- Yeah.
- Guys, I feel like I feel confident that this is a one, two, three.
- I think so.
- You're all through.
- Yes.
- Yes! Congratulations.
See you later.
Congratulations.
We've been waiting all day.
You did not disappoint.
[Upbeat music.]
So, any bumps along the road over the last day are all smoothed out now? Absolutely, absolutely.
Because we all had the same vision.
Nothing puts differences aside quite like victory.
Good job, guys.
Whew! [Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to Hollywood week.
More eager groups are backstage, prepping for their big moment.
- What? What's up? - Micah Johnson's group, the four tones, certainly looked sharp, but would they fall flat onstage? [Applause.]
- Uh-oh.
- The four tones.
Right? [lntro to hold on, I'm coming.]
- don't you ever be sad - be sad.
- Lean on me when times are bad.
When the day has come and, oh, you're in doubt in a river of trouble about to drown - ahhhhh - hold on.
- Oh, hold on - I'm coming.
- Hold on, yeah - hold on.
- Hold on - I'm coming.
- Very, very nicely done.
You're all going through.
Congratulations.
With all four tones going through, is the next group ready to hit the right notes? Forget the rehearsals.
It's go time for young love.
Three, young love.
I don't need all types of money I don't need a big, fine car I got everything that a man could want I got more than I could ask for - oh, yeah.
- I don't want to stand around in the morning stay out all night.
Night I got me a sweet a sweet kind of woman and she know just how to treat me right - treat me right.
- Well, my baby she's all right - whoo! 'Cause my baby is outta sight oh, yeah.
She's some kind of wonderful - whoo she's some kind of wonderful - yeah! - Wow! It seems the dudes were unstoppable.
- That was great.
- You guys are through to the - next round.
- Whoo! With testosterone running at an all time high, the men of.
Hollywood were feeling invincible.
We're gonna totally make it through to the next round.
Killed it.
N-n-n-now I'm calmin' down I don't know where but I know you're around.
You got [mumbling.]
Not a popularly known song among you guys there.
I've never heard so many people not get the words right.
Next were the tailors, who thought they were home free with an easy song.
There's, like, seven lyrics in this whole song.
If we don't know these lyr if we don't know these lyrics, you might as well pack your bags and go right on home right now.
Something like that.
Wow.
I'm so happy that that ended.
[Laughter.]
Oh, my God.
You didn't want to listen to the song and learn them words, did you? This was absolutely not unanimous.
So, the two in the front will carry on, and the two in the back, your journey ends.
Congratulations, you guys.
[Applause.]
So Paul jolley and will white live to sing another day.
Good thing that's over.
Will our next group, b-side, be able to remember their lyrics? We're gonna kill it.
We'll do good.
I'm I'm being I'm gonna stay positive, so - yeah.
I think we'll do really well.
[lntro to payphone.]
- yeah, I I know it's hard to remember the people we used to be it's even harder to picture you're not here next to me and I've wasted my nights you turned out the lights I'm paralyzed - oh, ooh - that time when we.
- Called it love but even - the sun sets in paradise I'm at a payphone trying to call home all of my change I spent on you I've had all those fairy tales are full of it one more stupid love song I'll be sick guys! Yo, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop! Oh, man, hang up the damn phone.
Oh, my God, what the? - Hang that [Bleep.]
phone up.
- Man.
- What was that? - Adam levine is still alive, and he's already turning in his grave.
- I'm saying, dude.
- What was that last note, though? This was, like, the harmonies were a train wreck, the leads were a train wreck.
- No! - [Groans.]
- No! - [Groans.]
- No, no, no.
- I didn't even know what was - going on up there.
- I do.
I know what's going on, and I love it.
I love the way that looks.
All right.
[Laughs.]
- That's my boo-boo.
He got the pink turban on.
Yo, you got the turban rockin'.
Makes me want to wear one.
I would be Keith turban, by the way.
Keith turban, yes.
Yes, yes, yes! I'll keep it real.
I forgot my lyrics, but I'm still gonna come out here and have a good time.
I've still got a job to do, so I ain't got time to be sitting up here, sitting still, looking left or right for somebody to save me.
I'm gonna save myself.
- Oh! - All right.
Yo, yo! Yo, that's what's up.
Hallelujah, hallelujah all right, please, let us deliberate.
This is gonna be, uh, tough.
Yo.
[Suspenseful music.]
Yeah, he's fearless.
No, he's fearless.
He's fearless, he's fearless.
- I'm gonna vote a yes.
- Let's just go, let's just go.
Uh, okay.
Wow.
This is the wackiest [Bleep.]
I've ever seen.
[Laughs.]
It's a crime scene.
uh, mark, step forward.
Peter, step forward.
gurpreet, step forward.
Chris, step forward.
you know, this was, all parts today, terrible, what you guys did.
For some reason, we feel like you can get better.
We deliberated, I gotta say I think it's really crazy, but, uh You're all going through.
Congratulations.
Yay! My favorite group! My favorite group! You guys are all going through.
- Be there.
- Be better next time.
You're only gonna get one more shot.
I'm coming to y'all's concert.
- Nicki, wow.
- Throw rose petals at you.
[Upbeat music.]
Good job, idol judges.
We came out here to accomplish something, and we didn't let the fact that we didn't know all the words intimidate us from doing what we had to do.
- My favorite group.
My favorite group.
All right.
Can we group hug? Yes, let's group hug.
- Oh! - We're looking for someone who excites us, someone that gets me out of my chair.
This person get got me out of my chair because he went to the crowd, and that's what you do at a show, and, you know, yes, we forget lyrics.
We're human beings.
But it's what you do in those moments that makes you a star.
So, congratulations, my little stars.
- Thank you.
- That just happened.
[Upbeat techno music.]
Welcome back to group day in Hollywood week.
Before the break, the group b-side imploded onstage.
[Vocalizing in falsetto.]
Oh, my God.
No, stop, stop.
Stop, stop, stop.
But the judges considered their past performances and stage presence, and with a little nudge from Nicki, they made it by the skin of their teeth.
With plenty more acts to be seen, the judges know it's time to get tough.
We've gotta do some more mass slaughtering.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
Let's raise the bar a little bit, yeah? - Yeah.
- And ready to take that challenge head on is our next group, last minute.
Dude, we sound good.
We've thrown in some cool harmonies.
We're totally mixing up the song.
It's, uh, we're doing a one direction song.
Oh, here we go.
Oh, my.
I'm always gonna have to dedicate this to you, Mariah and Nicki, to both beautiful girls.
So this is a perfect song for y'all two.
What about me and Keith, dog? - Nope, we don't like you.
- Y'all beautiful too, though, man.
Y'all Keith with his hair and everything.
Yeah.
[One direction's what makes you beautiful.]
- you're insecure - insecure.
- Don't know what for - oh, God.
- Through the do-o-or don't need no makeup to cover up - cover up.
- The way that you are is enough.
Everyone knows it now without you everyone knows but you baby, light up my world like nobody else.
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed it ain't hard to tell.
That you don't know you don't know you're beautiful-ul-ul you don't know you're beautiful [cheers and applause.]
How do we even judge this? Okay.
If the word "wrongest" can be used, it it was the wrongest song for you guys.
It was like, the song's by one direction, but it was like four direction.
You all were equally bad, - actually.
- Okay.
I unfortunately have to say we need to send all of you home.
- I'm sorry.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, guys.
- The judges promised to set the bar, and they clearly meant business.
Probably not the best time to take a risk.
But our next group didn't get the memo.
Now, this group has the option of using the band today, but they're going a cappella, the only group that's gonna sing a cappella for today's round.
The idea came from Ryan Connor Smith the night before.
Well, we could do something like, um, like a cappella groups do where it's just like do do do do do the biggest thing about choosing to do a cappellais that we can't hide behind any band.
We have to mesh our voices.
[All harmonizing.]
But as they work with a vocal coach, the question of risk begins to surface.
Do you think that it's more effective to do the song a cappella? I think it's different.
And I think it's a risk to do something completely a cappella.
Yeah.
[Maroon 5's payphone.]
Still stuck in the time when we called it love but even the sun sets in paradise if happy ever after did exist I would still be holding you like this one more stupid love song I'll be sick I'm at a payphone [Cheers and applause.]
I don't know why you guys did it a cappella, without the band.
I love this song, man.
I love this song.
And I think you guys could've knocked it out of the park more vocally and more, like, energy-wise with this rockin' band down here.
But we'll see how the judges will fare on all of this.
[Chuckles.]
Yeah.
Okay, Devon Jones, step up.
Adrian, step up.
And Uh, maybe.
Okay, and Devon, step up.
We would like The three of you on the front line to go forward.
[Scattered applause.]
- Thank you, guys.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, Ryan.
- I absolutely have no regrets.
I just kind of wanted to stand out and take a risk, and I really, really think that the judges made a mistake.
I thought I did at least as good as the rest of the people in my group.
It's tough seeing, you know, a friend go home.
It's bittersweet.
[Upbeat techno music.]
Group day continues for the guys.
About to take the stage is moflo, featuring burnell Taylor.
Burnell was a judge favorite in Baton Rouge, when he blew Mariah away with an impassioned performance.
- Burnell made me cry.
- But learning a new song during Hollywood week proved much more challenging.
I don't need a whole lot of money I don't can you sing? - Um - Are you still sleep are you sleeping right now? Uhuh.
Oh, I thought you were, like, sleepwalking.
I'm really working on keeping my eyes open and also putting the feel into the lyrics.
I got everything a well, I'm not gonna teach it to you.
You are gonna learn it on your own.
Sorry, we're not teaching you the song.
Let's just learn it as-is.
If we have to take it down a step or something, we can.
It's gotta be in the same key for all of you.
Everybody agreed to bring it down, and, you know, it suited everybody.
There are some slight issues, but who's the most worried about lyrics? [Grand funk railroad's some kind of wonderful.]
Come on, y'all.
[Chuckles.]
I don't need a whole lots of money - whole lots of money.
- I don't need a big fine car.
Big fine car I got everything that this man could want I got more huh! Than I could ask for.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh no, I don't have to run around - come on! - I don't need to stay up all night.
'Cause I got a sweet sweet lovin' woman.
Sweet lovin' woman and she knows how to treat me right - treat me right.
- Well, my baby she's all right well, my baby she's all right she's all right - some kind of wonderful.
- Oh, don't you know that she, yeah.
Some kind of wonderful yeah, don't you know that she, yeah - some kind of wonderful.
- Oh, oh, oh, oh - yeah, yeah.
- Some kind of wonderful that was a little different.
[Laughter and applause.]
All right, burnell.
I really love your easy confidence when you perform.
But in comparison to the other guys, back to back, I felt like I was losing you a little bit.
Part of it was that you're off the mic, and the pitch got a little shaky, which was a little, um, unusual for you.
All right, Darian.
If you would, um, step up, step forward.
And Mario, would you step forward? For you two on the front row We have to say no.
And we're gonna send the other two guys on.
Okay.
Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, guys.
- Thank you, guys.
- So it's the end of the road for two more contestants, as the judges do a quick tally of the day.
Who wants to know a running count of how many we've let go? I bet you did really good at - school.
- Yes.
So far, two, four Because you're very bright, Nicki minaj.
Oh, thank you, keithy.
- Very bright.
- Two, four, five, six, seven, eight.
About to perform is super 55, featuring lazaro arbos.
These guys have been struggling all night and are now hoping they too do not become a statistic.
A beach boys song.
Now, did everybody know this song before last night? - Um - Not you, you didn't know it.
You're still remembering it, memorizing it? The the words, yeah.
We were having trouble at first deciding what would be a good one for lazaro to learn super fast, since he kind of has a, you know, problem with our type of, like, music because he didn't grow up in America.
I hadn't heard-d-d of the b-beach boys, even.
So does the one that I'm singing s like, can you hear - that? - Do it again.
S-sometimes I feel that when you can't c-communicate well, sometimes people take that as not being smart.
Actually, how about you just play it? - Like, do it with no melody.
- Yeah, you just play it, and you don't even have to sing.
So-okay.
It's just hard because lazaro is, like, kind of holding us back right now.
You're gonna sing one of them - by yourself.
- Oh, okay.
- Okay, so go ahead and sing - So it's been kind of rough.
- Please welcome super 55.
- Yeah.
Wow, this is a good group.
Shoot.
All right, here we go.
[All harmonizing.]
Wouldn't it be nice if we were older then we wouldn't wait to laugh that long wouldn't it be nice to live together in this kinda world where we belong.
[Mumbles.]
All: stay together wouldn't it be nice if we were older then we wouldn't have to wait so long wouldn't it be nice to live together in this world where love can carry on [laughing.]
Close enough.
You know it's only gonna make it better stay together - I know.
Oh wouldn't it be nice - all: wouldn't it be nice.
- Wouldn't it be nice [applause.]
- Okay.
- Well well - okay.
- All right, then.
Did you guys have a difficult time learning to blend together? Uh, I guess we just couldn't hear our parts and it just threw us off.
Was it the first time you guys have heard this song, most of you? Me.
That was my first time.
All right, a few of you stood out in certain parts, you know, nicely.
It was just a little bit inconsistent for all of you.
It was just really kind of a tough song choice for us.
Not all of us really agreed on - it.
- Mm-hmm.
And by the time that we got to here, it was kinda just too late.
But you know, I mean, I'm gonna stand by these guys, you know.
I think we should discuss.
- Yeah.
- Okay? - Thank you.
- Give us We are spending all of our time teaching lazaro these harmonies.
So you sing it once by yourself.
It would sound like you were Should we vote on it? I'm not a guy with a lot of self-confidence.
- Let's go.
- Yeah, absolutely.
Okay.
[Sighs.]
Joshua Stevens, can you step forward, please? Scott, could you step forward? We're not gonna be able to keep you for the rest of the trip.
So thank you so much, and and the two of you will be remaining with us - Oh, my God.
- For the rest of the journey.
Thank you! Thank you so thanks, guys.
Thank you.
- Thank you, guys.
- Thank you so much.
Thank you.
So lazaro and Christian move on.
Congratulations.
But for Scott and Joshua, it's the end of the road.
I feel like I helped out this person that ended up taking the spot that I wanted, which is frustrating, I don't know.
But Joshua composes himself just enough to congratulate his former teammate.
If anything, like you might as well be going.
I mean, we spent so much time perfecting what you needed to be doing.
So, I mean, congratulations.
Well, that's one way of putting it.
[Upbeat techno music.]
It's been a long and emotional day both for the contestants Gotta get over it.
I came this far by myself and [Voice breaking.]
Just gonna keep going.
- As well as our judges.
- Oh, my God.
- This is heart-wrenching.
- Okay, this'll be fun now.
What are they called? Oh, yeah.
Up next is army sergeant Trevor blakney's group called says it all.
If we keep it like just side to side I mean, do your own swagger.
I'm gonna do this.
It's kinda like a straight like one, two, one, two [laughing.]
I'm not doing none of that [bleep.]
.
How many members of this group have glitter? It's only one.
Just one.
None's even rubbed off on you yet.
No, we don't hug or nothing.
- Yes, we do! - How are y'all doing today? This is a funny group.
[More than words playing.]
It's not that I love you is not the words I want to hear you say it's not that I want you not to say but even if you knew.
How easy it would be to show me how you feel th than words is all you have to do to make it real.
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me - 'cause I'd already.
- Know saying I love you is not the words I want to hear from you.
Wow.
I want you not beca if you only knew well it would be to show you how I feel words is all you have to do to make it real.
You only have to say - that you love me.
- All: 'cause I'd already know [Light cheers and applause.]
- Thank you, guys.
- [Laughing.]
[Randy chuckling.]
All righty.
We're gonna take a we're gonna take a moment to deliberate.
Okay, thanks, guys.
[Judges chattering.]
- Any good ones? - How we think we did? Lyrics? It was like queen cowboy.
I don't know what happened.
[Laughter.]
Everything was backwards.
What was different? You said sometimes you had the lyrics, sometimes you didn't.
What happened? My brain was cutting on and off, and it was like Yeah, like, true.
I could lay right down right here and go to sleep right here in a second.
All of you guysright? - Yeah.
- All right, fine.
We're gonna get this over with.
Okay.
Um, I think today was a really, really, really challenging, rough day for every single one of you up there.
So [Sighs.]
Trevor, Lee, I liked your previous performances a lot, and I think you should definitely keep going the both of you but you're not gonna be able to keep going with us on this road we're on here with idol, season 12.
But, um, Josh, jada, and Joel [Clicks tongue.]
We're gonna continue our stroll, darling.
- Congratulations.
- And that's what it is.
Good luck, guys.
Good luck to all of you.
Congratulations.
God bless you all.
But jada and Joel's celebration was cut short as they found themselves searching for their eliminated group member Trevor who was taking the news hard.
- Trevor.
- I'm better than what I did.
I screwed up, so I've never failed at anything in my life, and To do it now, God It was hard.
So sergeant blakney's idol tour of duty ends in Hollywood.
So, boys, now did you guess the producers would end up putting you together? - Yeah.
- We had an idea.
- You had a feeling? - Yeah.
Calling themselves dksk, these four are the youngest guys left in the competition and include David leathers who was devastated by being the final elimination in last year's Vegas round.
I gotta get to where I was last time Or even farther.
So I have to work just as hard, if not twice as hard.
And Caden Stevenson, whose.
Oklahoma city inspired the entire nation.
My life expectancy is 35 years old.
My dream is to be a famous singer on American idol.
And last night proved difficult.
- All: for the longest.
- Time - if you said - it was a rough night, but it seemed a few hours' rest made all the difference.
If you say good-bye to me tonight well, I feel really confident, and I feel like we're gonna make it through today.
All: oh - for the longest time.
- If you say good-bye to me tonight then there would still be music to write.
All: ah what else could I do? I'm so inspired by you that hasn't happened for the longest time - all: oh.
- Both: Whoa! - Key change! - Oh! - Oh, no! - All: for the longest if you say good-bye to me tonight then this song be good for us tonight - oh.
- All: I want you so bad I want you all to know that I intend to hold you for the longest time aww.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Randy chuckling.]
Little lamb chops.
Wow! David, I thought it was probably the best of everyone, at least you kind of held it together.
And Caden, what was happening, man? I'm not sure, sir.
I mean, I started singing and the lyrics kinda left me.
But if you give me a second chance, I promise you I can be better.
Here we go.
David, will you step forward? Sani, step forward.
Front row, you guys are both through.
Back row, it's the end of the line, sorry.
Thank you guys all so much.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations, thank you.
It's a tough group.
[Pop ballad.]
thank you.
I wasn't ready.
Not really.
I wasn't ready.
I had one day to do it.
- I can't take it.
- You know what? If you're going with just the voice - yeah.
- With just the voice, we made - the right decision.
- Yeah.
- and those tough decisions sent many familiar faces packing including Griffin Peterson, who caught Nicki's eye in Chicago.
Kinda sad to go home and leave it all and not know what could've happened if I made it.
Clifton duff in, whose parents had never heard him sing until his audition.
Before I left, my mom told me that, no matter what happens, that she was so proud.
And she cried all the way through saying that.
And for Caden, he leaves us with the same determination as the first time he walked through our doors.
Definitely gonna come back next year, taking this all in, and using this as my motivation to win next year.
I'll be back.
[Upbeat techno music.]
It's now 7:30 P.
M.
, and we're nearing the end of a long day of group performances.
- Let's get it! - [Over p.
A.
.]
Here we go.
And in the holding room, Frankie Ford and the other members of oz are clearing the air after a long night of disagreement.
You would kind of, like, insist on not letting me rehearse privately.
But you know, like I said Frankie, hold-hold excuse me.
Like I said, I'm gonna do my 110% best.
Well, I feel like- - guys, they're calling for you onstage.
Oh, we gotta go onstage after this kind of drama? - All right.
- Whee! From the get-go, it was apparent that oz had an imbalance of musical knowledge.
We could start out with the chorus and harmonies and everything.
It can't just be three octaves.
You have to have you have to have a third.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm not really famil a whole 100% familiar with a lot of musical jargon.
Honestly, I'm a I sing on the train.
That's kinda like my background.
Well, I have like, I guess, a working knowledge, so to speak, of some things.
Being paired with three experienced singers could be used to Frankie's advantage.
Can we do this, or- - I don't really feel comfortable 'cause I don't know that part all that well.
So you want me to do it.
- I mean, if you wouldn't mind.
- But instead, he becomes the odd man out.
Is everyone happy? Everyone is hap I'm happy with the song.
I don't really think they're being all that receptive to my ideas.
Charles told all of us he had two left feet, so I'd like to wonder why he's trying to lead choreography then.
Someday this is what you wanna do onstage? - Frankie, please! Please! - By the end of the night, the other members of oz were left wondering, are they carrying Frankie, or is he holding them back? Guys, I gotta go get my asthma pump.
I left it in my jacket downstairs.
- Go ahead, go.
- And now moments before their crucial performance, the difficulties of the past 24 hours leaves oz on the brink of collapse.
Truth be told, I didn't get a chance to put my best foot forward today.
I was dealing with asthma issues earlier in the day.
And then, you know, I feel like the internal strife within the group, it's like not to like, you know, put like a bane on the existence on our group or anything, but, you know, I just feel like it's situation.
- Oh, please.
- I don't wanna go home! - All right, here we go.
- Shoot, come on! I want this! Like I want this! Frankie.
Frankie, bro, come here.
Don't worry, I'ma pull myself together, man.
- I know.

What was going on last night, babe? Did you gel well with the boys? I did gel with the boys.
- You enjoyed your group? - I enjoyed it for what it is, which is a hot mess.
Why-why would you call it "a hot mess"? You guys are four of the best in the competition.
Why would you say that? What made it a hot mess is big personalities.
- Right, we have - Okay, I'll take that as an answer.
Thank you.
Um, and that's so important.
And as you guys are gonna go on, there's gonna be even bigger personalities.
- Yeah, they get bigger.
- And if you win this competition, the personalities will be out of this world.
Okay? One second, my darlings.
- So what are we thinking? - I just think he's got limited range vocally.

Keith fought for you like crazy because your spirit is out of this world.
Your spirit fills up this room.
Thank you so much, Keith.
Like, yo, I mean, thank you.
I really appreciate that.
Um, papa peachez.
If it weren't for one more person changing their vote, you would be going home Because you are too Complacent now in the competition.
And there won't be another chance for me to fight for you ever again.
You have to step up! So you can step back.
