Ghost Adventures (2008) s13e08 Episode Script
St. Anne's Retreat
1 BOY: Go ahead and help me! MAN: Do you hear me? Help me! ZAK: The last several years, we have explored many locations.
We have met hundreds of people MAN: The work you do is so valuable.
many who have been deeply affected by our investigations.
The minute I saw fear, I thought, "I gotta take care of him.
" ZAK: Are these dark spirits still plaguing these places and harming these people? Took a shot of whiskey and he says, "You guys ever heard about the bartender that killed himself?" What?! ZAK: It's time to find out.
This is "Ghost Adventures: Aftershocks.
" The Riddle House, a part of Yesteryear Village, is located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
This structure went from a home sweet home, to transforming into something much darker.
First used as a funeral parlor, and later as a private residence, the home has seen its share of tragedy.
A lot of people that work here have been harmed, they've had their hair pulled, all kinds of things.
That is why we are here.
To find out what sinister forces may lay inside, we enlisted the help of psychic medium Shelia Powell.
She made us aware of a menacing spirit, Joseph, who inhabited the attic.
I want to check in with her now to see how she has been since we've last seen her and see if the negative forces we encountered at the Riddle House are still active.
Hi.
I think it's been seven years, I think.
Close to it, yeah.
So, how have you been? Good and bad.
I did have some depression.
Being an empath, you know that you walk around with a lot of stuff.
Absolutely.
For some reason, I felt it was important to me to go back to that damned Riddle House.
You went back there? Every year to the fair.
I went back in and, um to see what I could still feel.
Joseph didn't leave, by the way.
Just so you know.
Is he still there? Yes.
He's still there.
Joseph still does not like Aaron.
Sorry.
[ Chuckles .]
He tried to get me out by throwing a cage at me.
Oh, my -- Oh, my god! I'd already scared you to death anyway.
You did? Don't you remember? "He doesn't like you at all.
" [ Laughing .]
Play that clip, Billy.
Ooh, boy.
This is -- this is the guy who's gonna give you trouble.
Um, I feel like he's given a lot of people trouble and grief in this attic.
Um, I feel like he likes to throw things, so I'm kinda -- I'm kinda nervous and watchin' things -- for things, but I don't feel like he's as angry at -- at me as he is you guys.
So, he doesn't like us? He doesn't like you guys being here at all.
It's not being here.
He wouldn't like you anywhere.
He doesn't like you.
Uh, he -- I-I don't think he likes any men.
But you know what is funny? Is that he really doesn't like you the most.
He doesn't? Yeah.
Well, if -- if you do tend to show fear a little more easily, he may feed on that.
But no, it -- it doesn't It -- it feels like he doesn't like you the most.
Gonna make sure that you stay up here by yourself.
Now, I think you were talking about Sorry.
[ Laughs .]
Joseph.
Yes.
Okay.
Um, Aaron.
Uh, let me up -- Sit down there.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Do you know how to work this thing? Come along, Aaron.
Just sit down there.
I'll figure it out.
Come along, Aaron.
Hello.
Go ahead and tell -- Because this -- I feel that this interview has more to do with Aaron than me.
Could be.
So, you know, you -- you pointed at the screen.
You pointed right at him, and you told him that Joseph doesn't like him the most.
Absolutely.
You gave, uh, Aaron, that night, a crystal.
I did.
Aaron, you took the crystal home.
No.
I don't -- I don't take Aaron? I don't take anything anyone gives me.
Oh, boy.
That's why I sat back here.
Like, uh, not to be mean or nothing Aaron.
but if anyone tells me advice as a psychic, I don't listen just 'cause I don't want to know anything.
And, uh, if anyone gives me an object, I don't take it 'cause I don't know what energy is on their object.
So sometimes it could be good, it could be bad.
But That was a purely blessed crystal.
Oh, I get that stuff all the time.
Are you upset, Shelia, that he just said that? I am because I also, if you'll remember, warned you that you were taking stuff home with you, and that it could affect your family life.
Uh, I don't really remember that.
Yeah.
Keep going.
People tell me that stuff all the time, so it's like Let him hear it.
It's nothing I haven't heard before.
Um, and so that was another reason that I gave that to you.
Um, and I believe what I said has happened.
What did you say? That your family was going to be affected.
Your family life was With the divorce? Yes.
Well, that was more of a decision just because I never was home a lot.
She could handle ghosts and stuff, but It -- yeah.
But there was a lot of dark energy that you were taking home that was causing that.
Well, yeah.
Well, that's obvious.
No.
It's not obvious.
It happens because we do it.
You can -- you can cleanse yourself Aaron, would you just listen? Yes! Well, I'm just telling her Yes.
Shh! For me to give that to you, I had used that stone for probably 10 years Oh, wow.
And the fact that you threw that thing away makes me want to pop you in the head.
Well, I mean Do it.
Well, how would it Can I do it? Yeah.
Wait, wait, wait, wait! No.
Actually not I don't want to touch you, actually.
Now you're pissing me off.
Are you afraid of me? No.
Now you're actually angering me, to be honest.
Like No.
I don't mean to.
I'm playing with you.
Well, I'm just sayin'.
Um, no.
I felt you needed it.
She was trying to help you.
Well, I got it.
I got it.
She gave you a crystal to help you Right.
Of bad energy.
Let me say one of my points, then.
A lot people give me a lot of things and say certain things on it.
Sure.
And I just pretty much don't take any of that because I don't know their energy.
I don't know you for anything.
Yeah.
So technically, you could be a bad person, and you give me something, I take on that.
Right.
So, as far as I'm aware, especially at any point in time, like Well I have a real problem really trusting psychics in the first place.
Sure.
Sure.
I understand that.
But, uh, when I got that, I just was like, "Uh, no.
" I-I never take gifts Okay.
like that.
And crystals and healing And I -- and -- and I can understand that because, sometimes, you I-I didn't mean to anger you.
I really didn't.
No.
He's just like that.
Don't worry about it.
You did not anger him.
No, 'cause I thought he was a sweetie.
I am a sweetie pie.
You are.
I just -- I protect my energy and I don't really allow anybody else's energy around mine.
He doesn't like cleansings.
He doesn't do cleansings.
Oh, really? He doesn't do any -- any of that.
No, I haven't done it since day one.
So anything that gives me something to cleanse, I-I don't take it immediately because I'm doing this experiment.
I've been doing it from the beginning.
So it's just kinda, like, I just don't do it.
He's our dirty sponge that we bring with us.
And so after years Do you know what that can do to you? Oh, I'm well aware of it.
That's why I'm doing this job.
It's not like I'm, like, I would have walked away from the job if I wasn't aware of it.
Uh, this man was accused stealing, taking money from a company, taking money from somebody that was very important in the town, okay? But he didn't do it.
And so, this guy got it.
It was pinned on this guy.
And that's why he doesn't like men at all.
And I am very, very adamant when I say he does not like men at all.
It doesn't really have anything to do with Aaron's energy.
To be honest, it's Aaron's look.
Aaron looks like one of the people who accused him Joseph? Doing something he didn't do.
Yes.
Right.
When I was meditating before I came back here, before I came out to do this, I-I heard, "I don't want to see the bald guy.
" It's definitely not me.
Yeah.
And I'm like Why you gotta think it's me? I'm gonna go out there and just do that to him again.
I like this interview.
[ Laughs .]
I have to admit, too Let me -- let me just, um -- Aaron's a great guy, great heart.
Oh, I know that Aaron loves ya.
'cause I'm the medium.
I mean, I'm not mad at you or anything--nothing like that.
Here's the thing.
I'm -- I'm an empath.
I know.
I didn't mean to be mean or like -- Here's the thing.
I think, like, you know, I've done a lot of events, and I've been surrounded by a lot of different people and stuff like that.
And sometimes, even in the mail, I'll get people that I don't know sending me protective items, crystals, crosses and all that And you feel them because you're an empath Absolutely.
And you feel them and you go Absolutely.
Hell, no.
Absolutely.
And I -- That's a very, very personal item.
Right.
It's a very, very personal item.
An item that it's coming from -- that person has infused it with their energy and whatever they believe in Absolutely.
And we just don't know.
Now we know you.
You're very great.
We love you.
But when we don't know somebody and they give us something like that, we don't know what type of energy is infused in the item.
Right.
Right.
Or what the intent is.
It just goes on, not knowing who the person is Right.
giving us some of their energy in the form of an implement that is used to help us Absolutely.
cleanse personal energy on our bodies.
Absolutely.
So I think that, um, Aaron I'm just kind of speaking with you here on that, so Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
And I understand that.
If you've got something haunted that's crazy scary or really messed up, I'll take that.
Right.
Okay.
Yeah, see? He likes I have those things, too.
Shelia, he likes the dark stuff.
Anything that has to do with light or Uh-huh.
Or cleansing, or happy energy stuff, no.
Yeah.
Aaron's, uh, he's a dirty sponge.
He likes to collect the dark stuff, if it's cursed.
For the sake of him being an investigator on the show, it -- it's his choice.
I've tried to help him get cleansed and all that.
It's -- it's not gonna happen.
Right.
You're not gonna change him, so Well, I saw fear.
And the minute I saw fear, I thought, "I've got to take care of him.
" Right.
So that's just what I was doing.
But, you know what? Now you know.
I'll blame fear on that guy for putting me in all those spots.
Well, you know what? You know what? I hate to say it, but, you know, I don't force you to be the way that you are.
Right, right.
I don't force you to not get cleansed.
But the way that he wants to be and stay, uh, he does attract a lot of energy.
Sure.
He does attract a lot of evidence when we investigate.
Uh, he's kind of like an experiment, a human experiment.
I'm still -- In a way, I'm still bait.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Your chakras are all Confidget-y is the only word I can think of to use.
That's a great word.
That's a great word to describe Aaron -- confidget-y.
Yeah.
Confidget-y? You are the most confidgetiest person I've ever met, dude.
Absolutely.
It was an absolute pleasure to see you again.
It's been too long.
It has.
So, uh, take care of yourself, okay? Thank you.
I will.
You, too.
You're welcome, Shelia.
Okay.
Bye-bye.
Aaron, can I give you a hug? [ Chuckles .]
I won't give you any negative energy.
That's right.
Take care.
You're gonna get it from me that you should be dangerous about.
[ Laughs .]
When you see an apparition, you never, ever forget it.
ZAK: We're examining new information at Yesteryear Village, which we originally investigated in 2008.
It seems the activity there is still very tangible and changing lives.
Gina Sauber is here to reveal some of the most incredible photos of an apparition that I've ever seen, supporting the idea that spirits never want to leave this infamous location.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you as well.
You work at Yesteryear Village? Yes, sir.
I'm a volunteer.
Yes, sir.
You're a volunteer.
Mm-hmm.
Can you please tell me who George was and what he did at Yesteryear Village.
George was, uh, a character.
He was like family to me.
We were both from Wisconsin.
Um, I hunted with George.
Do you have just a photo of George? George was a volunteer.
He was there, uh, years before I was.
Um, when did George pass away? It was the year 2011.
He loved it there so much that he had his daughters pushing him up in a wheelchair.
He was on oxygen.
And we knew we were losing him, but he loved it there so much that, um, he had to be there.
Mm-hmm.
And I think that, um, he loved it so much that he wanted to always be there.
Um, let's talk about this moment now, um, 'cause I'm really, really intrigued by something that was captured by you there, uh, after his death.
There is a, uh, photo that you took of a lizard.
I want you to tell me about this photo.
Why you were there, what you were taking a photo of.
And, um, is it true that you believe that you captured George's full-bodied apparition in a photograph? Mm-hmm.
It was a surprise to me.
I wanted a picture of all my hides and bones, and, um Bones? Bones, yeah.
Those are alligator scutes.
And I brought one with me today.
They're Alligator scutes.
The lizard's on an alligator belly skin.
And then the back is, uh, from an alligator that I hunted.
And then the white bones on top are alligator scutes.
So you -- you snap a photograph Mm-hmm.
Uh, of this lizard.
Mm-hmm.
And, uh, right now we're gonna bring up the photograph that you captured that you believe a full-bodied apparition of George Mm-hmm.
is in.
Mm-hmm.
Let's see it.
Yep.
It was about three weeks later, I was going through my iPod Touch and, um, all of a sudden, I-I called Marshall up and I said, "Marshall, you're never gonna believe it, but George is in that picture.
" So, you're -- you're telling me that that man right there in that photo is not a living person.
That is George.
I believe that George loved it so much, that, um, he showed up in a picture.
It was -- it was like he gave a gift to me.
Uh, he wanted to -- he wanted to keep his memory alive.
And there was no other people back there at that moment? Nope.
You didn't see this with your own eyes? I didn't see anybody there.
Okay.
And did you show this photo to George's daughter? Yes, sir.
I did.
And what happened? Actually, I first called her, um, and I told her, and she started crying.
And then when I showed her the picture, she started crying again.
ZAK: It sounds like George's spirit is determined to stay where it loved the most -- Yesteryear Village.
I want to talk to other people who are connected to the property, Janice Nalis and Connie Christman, to see if they have felt the lingering of this spirit as well.
How are you? Great.
How are you? Good.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
I just interviewed someone who was a close friend of a man named George, um, that loved to spend time at Yesteryear Village.
And, uh, he passed away.
And, uh, it's my understanding that the two of you didn't know him.
Correct.
No.
I did not.
Okay.
And not too long ago, after his death, you experienced an apparition figure.
Can you please tell me, uh Take me through that moment.
And, uh, you came there a short time after.
I just want to hear, uh, what happened and, uh, the sighting.
It was Spookyville.
Spookyville? It was a Spookyville event for children.
And there were lots and lots of children around, so you kinda keep an eye out.
And I turned, and there was someone coming up from the water, and he had a hat on.
I didn't pay too much attention.
It was very warm that day.
But I was like, "Come on up here.
Come this way so you don't get hurt down there.
It's dangerous.
" What kind of hat was he wearing? Ball cap.
Wow.
And he walked up the hill and walked past me.
As I turned to undo the rope to let him out, I turned back around, and he was gone.
And then, a floater came by, and I asked them to go and let Connie know that there was someone back there, and they had disappeared on me.
Can you tell me what her demeanor was? I went over, um, and she's referring to a floater -- a person that's, um, there to assist and go get somebody.
Okay.
I-I-I was walking up as her and Gina were talking, and Gina was showing the picture and telling the -- the normal story that she does there during our ghost tours that we have.
Mm-hmm.
So she -- she was hugging Gina, actually, 'cause she just realized like, "Oh, that's exactly who I saw.
That's who that was.
" So, it was a big moment? It was.
It was an emotional moment? Oh, yes.
Are you okay? Yes.
Okay.
I-I know from my experience, when you see an apparition, you never, ever forget it.
You remember frame-by-frame, in your own vision, exactly what happened.
He didn't really appear, to me, to be an apparition.
He looked as solid as you do.
Really? But then he was gone.
Exactly like in the photo.
Solid.
He was solid, yes.
What did you feel when you saw the photo? It was, "Okay, now I see dead people?" That's what she said.
[ Chuckles .]
So this was the actual alligator hide that the lizard was on.
How did you get those on the plane? ZAK: It's becoming clear that Yesteryear Village is still brimming with spiritual energy.
I want to delve further into this topic with volunteer Gina Sauber.
It's these villages that, uh, are -- there's -- there's just something about it.
It's not necessarily just the buildings that are in them and the history that are connected to the building.
It's just the overall energy that certain places create that we feel close to, connected to, and -- and very emotional to talk about.
It's like George wanted his memory captured and never forgotten.
And then, uh, this picture came up and they started the ghost tours.
And they said, um, "Well, this is what we're gonna talk about.
Do you wanna be part of it?" And I said, "Yeah.
" And they said, "Do you have anything to add to it?" And I said, "As a matter of fact, I did.
" It's like George knew we were gonna do ghost tours before we even knew it, so And now, he's a part of them.
Yep.
Awesome.
Yep.
Thank you.
Thanks so much.
Nice to meet you.
It's been a pleasure.
Thank you.
Yeah, yeah.
Hey, real quick-- I wanted to tell you, I did bring that alligator hide with me.
You brought an alligator with you? Yes, sir.
I brought that one that -- that had the lizard on.
I brought it with me.
Can I see the alligator? Yes, yes, yes.
I'm gonna sit right here.
So this was the actual alligator hide that the lizard was on.
Um, but this is, uh, the alligator scutes, where they come from.
I'll pull one out of my pocket here.
How did you get those on the plane? Uh, I do this all the time.
I-I have a program myself that, uh, connects children and nature, the outdoors and how life was back in the day.
That's cool.
Can I see one? Absolutely.
So, this is the one the lizard was on? Yes.
These are the bumps from an alligator's back.
Every bump is an individual bone.
Whoa! Yeah.
From an 11 1/2-foot alligator Jeez! That's heavy! See? Every one of those bumps is a bone on an alligator's back.
Oh, whoa! They're called alligator scutes.
Oh, wow.
I never knew.
I thought that was just skin.
That one's yours.
That's awesome.
Nice -- nice meeting you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
ZAK: Next, we move to another location where the layers of the paranormal are still being uncovered -- the Pioneer Saloon.
Located in Goodsprings, Nevada, this wild west saloon is the setting where the past and the present collide.
Built in 1913, the Pioneer Saloon was the oasis of the former mining community of Goodsprings, Nevada.
Today, the original bar, tin walls, and wooden floors stand as they did 100 years ago.
Our investigation there in 2013 uncovered a hotbed of activity.
What the [bleep.]
? So I went to check in with the owner Noel Sheckells to see if the paranormal energies that we encountered at the saloon are still active.
Noel, when we met you, you told us about one of your many experiences that turned you from a skeptic to a believer.
Let's watch.
Noel, how you doing? Good, Zak.
Good to see ya.
Welcome to Pioneer Saloon.
ZAK: Noel Sheckells is the current owner of the Pioneer Saloon.
Seven years ago when I bought the bar, I was a skeptic.
Now, I can probably write a book this thick.
What occurred in the Pioneer Saloon that made you more aware about the afterlife? [ Metal creaking .]
It was a Saturday afternoon and a lady was playing a slot machine on the bar top, and it broke.
I came here at midnight to unlock the bar so we could come in and fix the machine.
And it's dark in there.
You don't see anything.
And just a few minutes later, a lady starts crying in the women's restroom.
[ Woman crying .]
And I'm talking to her and I said, "Ma'am, you need to come out.
We are closed.
" She stops crying.
So now, my mind-set is "She's cut her throat or she's cut her wrists.
" And I went to open the door.
I never expected to see what I saw [ Switch clicks .]
which is nothing.
It shocked me.
I mean, I actually went into a slight bit of shock.
So, uh, how have you been? Have you had a lot more experiences since then? And how's things going over there? Since you were in, Zak, we have experienced, uh, a magnitude of new issues.
New things have happened.
Um, it's percolating, for lack of other words.
Mm-hmm.
We found, when you were in, we were looking at the last 100 years of history in the Pioneer Saloon, which is quite -- has been quite active as you know.
However, we've been finding spirits that have been coming to our saloon that are much, much older than 100 years.
Possibly Native American? Native Americans.
Every time we do a little construction project around the saloon, uh, dig a trench to put a water pipe in, we uncover arrowheads, pottery Really? Every time.
Sosince we've done the -- the lockdown with you, we've had a lot of interest from other groups to come in and do lockdowns, which we've done.
And we're finding that through the Spirit Box, we're getting a lot of entities that are much, much older.
When we were there, Aaron and I used the Spirit Box by your bar.
And do you remember, at the end of our investigation, when we had to call you back so that you could listen to the voice that we received? Yes.
You never know when one of those ladder rungs are gonna give way.
And it's a long way down, and it's very hard to get a person back out.
ZAK: When myself and the GAC Crew were investigating the Pioneer Saloon, we captured shocking evidence through the Spirit Box.
I want to review this evidence now with owner Noel Sheckells and see if he can shed any new light on it since we've last seen him.
Do you remember, at the end of our investigation, when we had to call you back so that you could listen to the voice that we received? Yes.
Let's watch that.
ZAK: So I wanna show you, uh We played back some footage here.
Right.
And this was Aaron and myself sitting at the table.
Spirit Box wasn't saying anything for about 10 minutes.
No voices.
I love this voice.
Then, I started holding the bottle up.
So relevant.
Yeah.
And I was like, "Do you want some of this?" And then we asked a couple more questions.
And then all of a sudden, we got a voice, okay? And I'm not gonna tell you what the voice is.
I want you to tell me what the voice says, okay? Okay.
Go ahead.
[ Static .]
Whiskey.
It's so clear! Whiskey, yeah.
[ Indistinct conversations .]
That's good, Billy.
Really clear.
But you could just hear, "Whiskey.
" It was very clear.
Now, we were -- uh, Aaron, do you remember we were sitting at the bar, and we were trying to communicate with the guy who was shot and killed? Paul Coski.
Yes.
Whose remnants of his death is still visible in your bar, the bullet holes in the wall.
Correct.
And not only can you see it, you feel it.
People -- The customers that come in all the time say when they're looking at those holes, they feel I did.
You feel the sadness.
And that moment was incredible.
Just to sit there, yeah.
But I believe that that spirit, Paul Coski I believe that he is still there.
Yes.
In that moment, Noel, I thought that it was Paul that came through and said "Whiskey.
" Do we have a bat in here? [ Aaron Laughs .]
That's a moth? Yeah.
Is it the Mothman? [Bleep.]
What is that thing? If that thing comes and lands on my head and starts sucking my brain out of my skull We gotta film it.
We'll keep rolling.
Just keep it rolling.
That's good stuff.
There he goes.
Dude, that is a Mothman, I swear.
That thing is not -- that's huge.
That is gigantic.
Sorry, everybody.
Uh, we, uh, are gonna put a standby screen right now until I, uh, take out the Mothman.
[ Beep .]
It's right behind you.
Where is it? Why does it Well, it went this way.
Why does it wanna attack me? Why is all chasing me? Oh, my gosh! Ohh! So, uh, sorry about that.
Um There's another one? [ Beep .]
Got it? Nice.
Okay.
Got it? So, uh, tell me about this voice that said, "Whiskey.
" Right.
We were trying to make contact with Paul.
And we believe that his spirit was there, and he's the one who came through and said, "Whiskey.
" But is it true that you found out about another suicide that occurred in the bar? Yes.
Sometime in the '20s, there was a bartender named Mr.
Butterfield.
And according to the legend, Mr.
Butterfield was the best bartender the Pioneer Saloon had ever seen.
Mr.
Butterfield would go on shift when the miners got off work.
They would shuffle in, and he always had a joke.
He would line up shots of whiskey across the bar.
What?! Yes.
It's a -- it's a -- it's a matter of fact.
Are you serious? Yes.
Connect those two dots together.
He was notorious for telling everyone he loved the Pioneer Saloon, and he was gonna die in the Pioneer Saloon.
He would tell people this? Yes.
Everybody heard this over and over again from him.
He was a very happy guy.
One day, miners shuffled in.
He goes, "I'm buying everybody a shot of whiskey.
" Lined up the whiskey across the bar.
"Take your shot and we'll tell the joke.
" So he took the shot of whiskey and he says, "You guys ever heard about the bartender that killed himself?" No way.
And they go, "No.
Tell us about the bartender that killed himself" No way.
thinking it's a joke.
He pulls out a .
44.
He goes, "Watch!" Boom.
And blows his head off What?! right behind the bar.
Oh, my gosh, dude! That was crazy.
Crazy.
What was involved? What liquid was involved at the time of his death and involved in that joke? Whiskey.
Whiskey.
It's awesome how it's all tied together, and we learn now instead at the investigation.
The ironic thing is, he died with a smile on his face.
He wanted to die in the Pioneer Saloon.
So he's super happy.
He wasn't going out 'cause he was sad about something.
He was going out because he wanted to have the peak of his life transition there.
And he did this in the form of a joke, with a smile on his face Yes.
in front of many people.
Huge audience.
And everybody's drinking whiskey.
That's what I was just gonna ask you.
Yeah.
And what voice did we get at your bar with you there to analyze the audio? A male voice that's clearly saying, "Whiskey.
" That's why we do "Aftershocks," right there.
Yes.
And that's why it's just so important to follow up with people like you, follow up with guests because the evidence that we collected there, you know, it -- it can connect later to revelations that people like you find.
And it's just -- it's mind-blowing.
It's awesome.
Yeah, it is.
I never knew about that.
And to me, for me being there and -- and capturing that voice with you and Aaron in that moment, um, you know, I-I believe that -- that it may have been him because that's probably one of the last words that he said.
I think it's a likely possibility it is him.
ZAK: Tim France is the director of the Pahrump Historical Society and is constantly doing research on the surrounding area near the Pioneer Saloon.
I want to touch base with him now to see if his research has lead to any recent discoveries.
How you been? Just fine.
You? Good.
Oh, Tim.
So, uh, last time I saw ya, we brought you in to, uh, help us out on an investigation at the Pioneer Saloon.
You have no fear.
Like, you're known for that.
You'll go into an abandoned mine and hike back 20 miles.
Like, you just -- you have no fear.
We were getting ready to investigate this abandoned mine.
Even you told us that you wouldn't go down there.
Let's watch this.
A lot of mine accidents weren't reported.
There might be somebody underneath you, as much as we know.
Uh, be very careful here, gentlemen.
No floorcareful.
AARON: Wow, look! You can climb down it.
I wouldn't trust those ladders.
All right.
Ladies and gentlemen, in this abandoned mine, let alone it was already marked, "Danger.
Do Not Enter the Abandoned Mine," we go in there and we see this.
It looked like Satan's [bleep.]
that went straight down to hell.
[ Laughs .]
How do you know what that looks like? It's a metaphor.
And so you've got these old ladders.
Even Tim France would not even go down there.
Be really careful.
Hold on to the walls.
Yeah.
Check the steps as you're going down, man BILLY: Yeah, I am.
so they don't break.
ZAK: Earlier, Tim France, a professional mining adventurer who is also on the board of directors for the Pahrump Historical Society, told us that he wouldn't even go down this hole.
I wouldn't trust those ladders with my life.
Careful.
That's good.
Did you ever watch that? Yes.
Okay.
Did you see how far he went down there? Yes, I did.
Billy, come on out.
Tim.
Hey.
How's it going? Good.
Uh, Tim, what do you think, uh, of Bill, uh, going all the way down there like he did? He went way down.
What do you think could have happened to Bill? The worst case scenario, um The reason why I wouldn't have done it is I like to have some form of safety, especially a rope, because you never know when one of those ladder rungs are gonna give way.
'Cause if one goes, they're all gonna go, and it's a long way down and it's very hard to get a person back out.
Okay.
So, could, uh, Billy have died that night? Not really died.
Because the depth of the hole, um, he might have been rendered unconscious, had himself a concussion, maybe a few broken bones.
Um, he just would have been a very unhappy person.
[ Billy chuckles .]
Is this an intervention? There are many times now I see something following him.
Like what? It's a figure of a person, but it's not very tall.
What do you think could have happened to Bill? He might have been rendered unconscious, had himself a concussion, maybe a few broken bones.
Um, he just would have been a very unhappy person.
Quit climbing in dirty holes.
[ Laughter .]
Wait.
Uh You led the way.
You made the decision that night.
What made you want to get yourself inside that dirty hole and just climb all the down up in it? [ Laughs .]
Sorry.
How else would you say that? Yeah.
What made you think about climbing down into the cavity within the Earth? I just felt like we needed to get evidence.
The hole is probably where all the action is, where all [ Laughs .]
God We're gonna get through this.
Stop! Uh, I had no idea that you were gonna go down that far.
And I'm sure the Travel Channel didn't either.
And I'm sure that they wouldn't have really permitted that.
Um, but that just goes to show you the, uh, the fear factor, uh, with the GAC.
Well, the worst part is we didn't have a rope, so How crazy is this? That was kinda stupid on our part.
But even during the day, even -- You're sitting next to Indiana Jones here.
I know.
Even he himself said that he wouldn't have gone down there, okay? And -- and let alone that far.
Tim can probably vouch for this.
When you go -- when you go deep inside these mines and you're exploring around, you get the feeling of what it was like to work in there hours and hours every day.
Absolutely.
And I'm always thinking, "You know there's people that died in here.
You know that there was cave-ins.
You know that there were accidents, deaths, maybe even murders.
" It's also super quiet.
Yes.
And almost, like, tomb-like.
Like -- like, the silence is deafening.
Dude, it's tunnels both ways.
It's pretty There's a lot of choices.
Billy, why don't you get out of here? All right.
I'm finished So, Tim, I was just talking with, uh, Noel Sheckells.
Uh, he is the owner of the Pioneer Saloon.
And, uh, it's my understanding that you, uh, may have some new theories on the Native American history surrounding Goodsprings.
And they've been doing a lot of diggings around the Pioneer Saloon, uh, to do improvements on the building, the structure or whatnot.
And they're turning up a lot of different, uh, artifacts.
If he's digging up these artifacts from Native Americans, there's a natural spring 200 feet from the Pioneer Saloon as well.
Um, would that be considered sacred land to Native Americans? This particular spring at Goodsprings was actually a camp.
It was probably most likely a meeting point for the pine nut harvests, the antelope hunts, the deer hunts within the region.
Have you done research about -- something about Native American miniature cannibals or something like that? Pygmy cannibals.
Pygmy cannibals.
Ten years ago, I heard of a story of a pygmy figure that was -- or pygmy mummy that was actually found in the mountains of Montana.
Did a little bit more research and found that the Na-- the Indians up there believed in a race of pygmies that were cannibalistic.
Miniature cannibals? Correct.
That would scare the [bleep.]
out of me.
If you search global, pygmies -- especially cannibalistic pygmies -- are very common unless you get to the east coast of the United States.
One thing I have discovered is, there's actually particular petroglyph symbols that are usually associated with the pygmies.
So, you're saying that those petroglyphs identify the presence of pygmy cannibals? Correct.
Usually, when you find these petroglyphs, you can usually find stories of pygmy cannibals.
What? The problem with the cannibal is, is that we have mummified remains that were actually located.
There's an actual mummified Okay.
Yes.
I actually have a picture of it.
So, your mission right now is to find a mummified cannibal? Yes.
Okay.
If you do, I have a place to put it on display.
That'd be nice.
Okay.
Let's talk about your, uh, your son Tom.
Right.
Is it true that you see figures behind him? Or It's the craziest thing.
I never did before we did the investigation with you guys.
And then since then, there's a curtain that hangs in the bar to go to the back room.
And when Tom starts to walk through that curtain, out of my peripheral vision, many times now, I see something following him.
Like what? It's a figure.
It's definitely a-a figure of a person, but it's not very tall, which really puzzles me.
You just said a miniature figure, okay? Yes.
And while I don't know if there's any documented deaths of children there at the Pioneer Saloon, Tim France has a theory about these miniature Native Americans possibly having connections to the area of Goodsprings right where your saloon sits.
I've had two people on separate occasions that have told me that they see a little girl following me around.
ZAK: Tom Sheckells is Noel's son and the bartender at the Pioneer Saloon.
When we first met him, he was feeling affected by the paranormal occurrences at the saloon.
I want to speak with him and see if he has felt any relief from the situation or if it has grown.
When we met you, you were telling us about, uh, how you would see a figure that looked like, uh, a cowboy.
Uh-huh.
Let's watch this.
Have you ever seen any apparition? It's definitely figure.
I'd say probably about my dad's height.
And he's got a beat-up cowboy hat on.
Any paranormal person I talk to in the past, they say if you welcome it in, then more happens to you.
It attaches itself.
So I've definitely tried to detach myself as much as possible, so that way Mm-hmm.
when the power does go out, I'm not thinking about it.
So from that, you seem like you do have a side of you that is affected by this, and you don't really want to mess with it.
Definitely don't want to encourage it Right.
at all.
But yet, you're working in a location that is known to be haunted.
And your dad just told us about Mr.
Butterfield Mm-hmm.
who's a bartender.
And what do you do there? [ Chuckles .]
Bartender.
Okay.
If you start joking about whiskey Yeah.
and you start joking about lining up a bunch of shots of whiskey, get out.
Yeah.
It makes sense to me.
Yeah.
[ Chuckles .]
Um, how long have you been working there now? Uh, going on about nine years now.
Uh, do you think that you've changed from working there? Drastically, yeah.
Personally? Personally, yeah.
Emotionally, all the way around.
How have you, uh, changed over the course of you working there? My view on things, and I just question things a little bit more.
Very cautious Mm-hmm.
where I wasn't before.
So, you've become more -- more paranoid? Yeah.
You know, I mean, in the mornings, I'm -- I'm there for a long period of time and long periods of time by myself, working on different things, so Do you ever have thoughts in your mind while you're there, and you're just kinda like, "Whoa.
What was that all about?" to where maybe you're thinking about something, um, violent or you're -- something, anything dark? More of a presence than -- than, like, a cloud, not a -- not a thought necessarily.
But definitely a darkness of a cloud.
I don't know how -- It almost wraps around me.
I don't shake it off quickly, but It's funny you said "wraps around you," because I remember your father once saw these, like, cloudy wisps, these anomalies.
And he actually said, on camera, "It started wrapping itself around me.
" This thing started to wrap around me.
I felt, like, all this energy coming through my chest, just a beautiful, happy feeling.
When you feel that, how does it make you feel? Uh, almost like I'm frozen.
Mm-hmm.
And it takes a minute to shake it off Yeah.
And get back to what I was doing.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Your dad's telling us that he does see what appears to be a figure, uh, by you quite often.
Is that true or I -- Ever since the episode aired, a lot more people are coming down that are sensitive to that stuff.
And they're opening the doors, it feels like, to just, a They can be doing that.
a whole 'nother energy.
Right.
Um, I'm trying to do the best I can because I just want to leave that stuff alone, so I stopped completely working at nights.
So I mainly work just during the day.
And that seems to help, but even then other people welcome it into my life, it seems like, because I've had two people on separate occasions, that are open to those things that have told me that they see a little girl following me around, which I didn't ask for any information, nothing like that.
And they're just coming out with it.
In the saloon? In the saloon, yeah.
And is it true -- I think it was your Is it your father that has seen a shorter figure around you? Yeah.
He tries to talk to me about it, and I just try to not listen.
But, uh, yeah.
He's definitely pushing it.
Mm-hmm.
ZAK: I'm beginning to see a potentially disturbing historical and paranormal connection between Tim and Noel's stories.
Could a pygmy Native American cannibal be the small figure that has been following Tom at the bar? I propose this to Tom now.
So finding out that the Indians could be possibly The miniature ones could be the lady that's following me around, the fact that that was a possibility there just kinda shocks me to the core.
Just brings up more questions, I guess.
ZAK: We've seen connections being made between the spirit world and the living People have told me that they see a little girl following me around.
He loved it so much that he wanted wanted to always be there.
connecting the people that were once alive to the places that their spirit inhabits can not only help us understand the afterlife, but inform the relationships we have with them.
I can only hope that the people I spoke to today continue to do so.
