Let's live in the moment So, here's what I think we should do.
- Okay.
- Purposely give Kelly bad advice.
To make sure she doesn't succeed on this show.
- Hey, guys.
- Hey! Um, did I miss Is there a team meeting? We were just talking about things that maybe you should know, 'cause this is your first season.
- That'd be cool, right? - I want pointers.
You know, but next time, like, maybe invite me to the meeting and then I can get the pointers.
Well, your first pointer is to quit being so pushy.
- Too late.
- Let's go get started.
We're gonna get a four-chair turn.
I'ma block y'all, too.
Pow! [Laughs.]
[Cheers and applause.]
DALY: Let's meet the first artist of night three.
You get out there and you bring it.
And you do it! And you do it! You got this! My name is Christiana Danielle.
I'm 22 years old.
And I'm from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
I recently graduated and I have my bachelor's in social work, and I'm taking a gap year in between going to grad school.
This is what I'm doing in my year off.
Growing up, I only really listened to gospel music.
At the same time, my mom was a rapper.
She's a Christian rapper.
[Laughs.]
We come into this house to give God the glory We raise our hands as we tell our story He brought us out and he brought us through, yeah He erased our past, made our lives brand-new - [Rap horn blows.]
- Go, Mom! Not many people could say their mom's a rapper, so That's cool.
[Laughs.]
My senior year of high school, I got into jazz and the blues Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse.
Everything is just like, "Oh, yeah, this is where I fit in.
" So, I took choir.
That's when I really started embracing who I was as an artist.
But as music took a more important place in my life, I caught a throat infection and they had to rush me into surgery.
She wasn't able to breathe, and it was a terrifying moment as a as a parent.
I was laying in the recovery room and the doctor said, "She's not gonna be able to sing," and my tears rolled down my eyes.
I really felt like a part of me died.
After therapy and recovery, I went to the ear, nose, and throat doctor and she was like, "I can't believe that you're healing like this, and I can't believe that you're talking to me in a regular voice.
" I definitely consider it a miracle that I got my voice back.
I went straight to my pastor, and I was like, "I know exactly what I want to do, and I want to sing.
" Now I sing at shelters and at churches, so this is the biggest performance I've ever done in my entire life.
Hi, first artist.
All right, here we go.
Here we go, here we go.
Today, I'll be singing "Hotline Bling" by Drake.
I'm flipping the song and making it more emotional.
It shows my versatility.
I'm just ready to go.
I'm ready to sing.
You used to call me on my cellphone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cellphone Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling And that could only mean one thing Ever since I left the city, you You and me, we just don't get along You make me feel like I did you wrong Going places where you don't belong Ever since I left the city, you You got exactly what you asked for Running out of pages in your passport And hanging with some girls I've never seen before You used to call me on my cellphone Late night when you need my love Call me on my cellphone Oh, wow.
Late night when you need my love And I know when that hotline bling That could only mean one thing - And I know when that hotline bling - Damn it! [Scatting.]
That could only mean one thing Call me, call me [Cheers and applause.]
- Whoo! - Yeah! Yeah! Ahh! Please! I love your voice! I'm just saying, I literally, I want you to know, I don't What's your name? I'm sorry.
[Laughter.]
My name is Christiana Danielle.
- I love you.
- [Laughs.]
Don't listen to her! Don't listen to her.
She's so great, and she's gonna be so amazing.
You're gonna be like, "Oh, Alicia, I love you, too," and it's, like, gonna suck for me.
- And, Adam - For the love of God.
Can I just say, before this begins, this is like walking into a Weed eater, what's about to happen right here.
- No.
- I'm sorry I didn't push my button.
I have no business trying to even throw my hat into the ring.
- I love you - I love you.
and this is gonna be a lot of fun for me to sit back and have a drink and watch.
- That's all I can say.
- [Laughter.]
ADAM: I know that he didn't press his button, because he was literally scared.
But that's a testament to how much of a gem you are.
You are one of the greatest gifts we have been given on this show.
Your voice humbles me, your presence humbles me, and I only want to be a guiding light for you moving forward.
And I'm not gonna fight for the last word, 'cause I think it's beneath you.
Christiana, you're one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life.
- I'm done.
- [Cheers and applause.]
I'm done.
You need somebody that'll fight for you.
She needs somebody that'll fight.
[Laughter.]
It does not matter who you pick.
You could win this show.
You've got a great voice.
I would love to win with you.
I know what it takes.
It's knowing that song selection is key.
You just turned this really cool song into a way cooler song.
Go ahead.
Well, Christiana, you're, like stunning.
It's like the craziest thing ever.
Back there and I was like, "This would be great for Adam.
This would be great for Kelly.
" And I was like, "No, I cannot even contain myself from the way that you make us feel.
" It is crazy! Like, what you just did was so exciting for music.
Can I ask you where all of this came from? I love jazz.
I love soul.
I love blues.
I love country.
Oh, yeah! Come on! I love country! I've won country awards! [Laughter.]
Do you know how much we have in common, Christiana? We could win.
I feel like you just brought, like, Ella Fitzgerald in with you through Drake.
Like, Drake just got blessed.
Like, you just blessed Drake.
I can envision it.
The canvas can be everything that we imagine it to be.
Like, I get you.
I would love to be your coach.
It would be a dream come true.
Well, can I say it? - Yes.
- Christiana? Who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Kelly! Kelly! Kelly! Oh.
I pick Alicia! I'm free to be the greatest, I'm alive Didn't work.
Oh! - Oh, my! - You're unbelievable.
Christiana she was so magnificent.
I totally saw the blueprint of what she could do not only on this show, but in real life.
I cannot wait to win "The Voice" with Christiana.
I got stamina Everybody thinks it's Blake.
It's not Blake.
You got to beat Alicia, I'm learning, on this show.
Alicia just really, like, spoke straight to me.
With the whole bending of the genres and reaching back, like, everything that she said uh! That was destiny.
Everybody can't be destiny.
- You get everyone.
- That was dest No, that was You've got destiny for days.
It's like a whole Destiny's Child, every, all of 'em.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the blind auditions at Universal Studios Hollywood.

- There we go.
BOTH: Wakin' up on the wrong side BRETT: To give my music all of my attention, I gave up an amazing job recruiting for different startups.
And so, I moved in with my brother.
Save the chips, dude.
I live in a four-bedroom house with four roommates and a rotating cast of bands that stay on the couch.
Why? Just eat one chip at a time, you know.
All right.
I'm a really great sleeper.
- I know that about myself.
- Great.
I don't know if you can verify that.
Sure, I'll verify that.
Yeah.
Okay.
[Snoring.]
BRETT: I'm really grateful for my brother.
He just has always wanted to help me see this dream come to life.
He bought me my first studio time, and I just released my first full-length record, completely produced and recorded by myself.
That's been really great.
But also, you know, living with him, it's a big sacrifice for him and it's hard for me.
So, what does this opportunity at "The Voice" mean to you? Maybe I could get my own room.
[Laughter.]
No, but this opportunity is huge.
To be able to connect with even more people is really what I want to do.
Right.
Well, turn a chair, get a room.
[Laughter.]
- There he is! - Here we go! Oh, yeah.
This could be the one.
If you turn around, don't say something stupid.

- [Laughter.]
- What's your name, man? My name is Brett Hunter.
Man, I-I got to tell you, I've never been more surprised.

A ukulele? I didn't expect you to be white! [Laughter.]
- That is true.
- That's 100% true.

When I did turn around, the ukulele was really interesting to me.

Blake, shut up.
I'm trying to give you credit.
Shut up before the moment passes.
I think that if you had played that song with just you singing it, with the ukulele, we probably all would've turned, because the presentation of it would've been so unique and weird and cool.
Aren't you glad you got a coach that could hear right through all that, though? [Laughter, applause.]
But can we Yeah, can we hear that? That was good, that was good.
Thank you.
I'm jealous.
Do you have falsetto, as well? Yeah.
'Cause it's good when you go real powerful like that and then you go, uhhh! - Yeah.
- 'Cause women'll be like, "Yes!" Or I don't know.
Some men will be like, "Yes!" - [Laughter.]
- I don't know.
Yes.
I don't know why I'm giving you tips.
[Laughter.]
I literally could not be happier.
The fact that I have somebody like you on my team is incredible! [Cheers and applause.]
I couldn't be more excited.
Let's hug for a minute.
Let's do it, man.
Aww! Bromance.
Aww! I can't believe I'm sitting here right now with Brett on my team.
His voice was a-amazing.
It cut through.
He's just got this very high register.
I'll make you proud.
I mean, come on, a long-haired dude with a high voice playing the ukulele.
Tiny Tim.
I'm proud of you.
I'm proud of you, Blake.
Tiptoe through the tulips What does that have to do with anything? What is that reference? Who sung that? Y'all don't know who Tiny Tim is? - Obviously not.

Girl, you're amazing Just the way you are Happy birthday.
- It was beautiful.
- Thank you.
Jamai, tell me a little bit about what you do for a living.
I do singing telegrams.
I just sing to people and send love messages.
How did you come up with the idea for a singing telegram company? When I was in high school, it was something to just make some extra bucks for Valentine's Day.
And I would sing to girlfriends and I just kept with it.
JAMAI: I'll sing Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars, and the word of mouth spread and today, it's a full-service singing telegram company for all occasions birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, breakups, makeups.
Even did a telegram where the guy, he dressed up as a knight in shining armor and rented a horse and sung with me.
When I'm not doing singing telegrams, I'm in the studio, I'm practicing, but I'm ready to take it to the next level.
Good to see you again.
Who's with you? My best friend Brandon and my best friend Dre.
This my squad.
They gonna beat me up if I, like, don't do good tonight, so [Laughter.]
But I'm definitely here bringing my mother's spirit here to represent my mom, because, you know, she passed when she was only 23.
And so, my grandmom I've always called her mom has been, like, the greatest support.
And she couldn't be here today.
Hold on.
Take a look up here.
There's another member of your squad who wanted to wish you good luck.
Congratulations on your audition for "The Voice"! Your mom would be so proud of you.
I'm proud of you, too.
Good luck.
What does that mean to you? Yeah, it means a lot to me.
It's good to have people to just go along the ride with you.
We've been through a lot.
We are each other's family.
It's day in and day out.
He's fearless.
He's incredible.
He's crazy.
He's a New Age Bobby Brown.
[Laughter.]
Oh, no No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no When you feel it in your body you found somebody who Makes you change your ways like hanging with your crew So you act like you're ready, but you don't really know But everything in your past, you wanna let it go I've been there, done it, humped around, huh After all that, this is what I found Nobody wants to be alone If you're touched by the words in this song, maybe You got it, you got it bad when you're on the phone You hang up and you call right back You got it, you got it bad When you miss a day without your friend Your whole life's off track You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house You don't wanna have fun 'cause all you think about You got it bad when you're out with someone But you keep on thinkin' somebody You got it bad You Know you got it bad - When you're out with someone - Yes! - Where you from? I'm from Chester, Pennsylvania.
Beautiful job, by the way.
- Thank you so much, Alicia.
- Beautiful job.
- Just the way he said "Alicia," it made me - KELLY: "I lost," I know.
If I had pushed, I'd have been like, "I lost.
" [Laughter.]
ALICIA: Do you sing for a living? Yes, I do singing telegrams for a living.
Singing telegrams.
Breakups, makeups, you know, weddings, all of that.
Okay! - Damn.
- So, so You do breakups? The guy calls you and says, "I want to break up with my girl.
Can you sing a song?" Yeah, I had a few of them.
- No.
- Damn.
Yeah, but after you dump the girl, then you're standing right there.
- Yeah.
- Get on in there.
- Yeah! - That's crazy.
She'll cry, and then I'll leave and then she will call him and cuss him out, so If I was that girl, I'd cuss you out, too.
- Yes.
- Yeah.
- I'd be like, "What?" - What do you sing? Like, you sing a song, be like, I'm leaving you You just got to make sure you stand a few feet away from the girl when you're singing to her.
Right, right, right.
Well, I wanted you You know.
I've never heard of anything like that.
Hey, man, congratulations, first of all.
Thank you so much.
Thank y'all, thank y'all.
And you got a choice.
You have a choice right now.
I-I There ain't no choice.
I heard how you said "Alicia.
" Well, I got to say, man, I think Kelly is, like, one of the most versatile vocalists, and she is the epitome of singing-competition winners.
- All right.
- She started it all.
Smart man.
- [Cheers and applause.]
- That's true.
And I definitely don't want to take anything from Kelly, because I think she's amazing.
The reason why I wanted to turn around, you have this variety that really is powerful.
Plus, you have a style that's really your own.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I'm really excited for you to choose Team Alicia.
[Laughter.]
So that we can go on to what I hope is another victory.
[Cheers and applause.]
"Another victory"! She said it! It's very difficult when you pick a singer that you sound similar to.
That's an honor, though.
Shout out to Usher.
No, it is.
Usher's amazing, but I'm just saying, I would pick songs that you're not gonna get compared to.
Mm.
Um, because that's a thing that happens regardless of how great you sound on it.
Because that was such a good piece of advice, I just want to counter that quickly, just in case you in in any way felt swayed by that moment.
Because I want to make sure that you're a success, not only on this show, but in the real world.
[Cheers and applause.]
I'ma call it.
Want me to call it? All right.
Jamai, who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
I pick [Laughter.]
I won't tell your secret Alicia Keys, baby! I'm not gonna change 'Cause I love the adrenaline Come on, Jamai! Yeah! Jamai's a great addition to Team Alicia, and I believe that he's gonna really show people that he has something special.
I'm loving how this is going.
Yeah! Alicia has this thing where she always pulls from the universe.
It's like hypnotic voodoo that she does.
But I'm gonna keep fighting.
It's like being on a treadmill.
You're not getting anywhere.
[Laughter.]
Oh, my God.
The singing telegram thing, though.
That's mean.
Oh, man, that's a weird-ass job.
Talking about You make me wanna leave the one I'm with Start a new relationship [Laughs.]

Y'all, this is so exciting.
Are you all on your phone?! - Yeah, Kelly Clarkson.
- I didn't even bring my phone.
I feel like I'm at dinner with my family.
Where nobody's talking to you? I didn't know I was supposed to bring my phone.
[Laughter.]
It's all right.
DALY: Let's meet the next artist.
Get up, stand up Stand up for your rights My name is Mitch Cardoza.
I'm 22 years old, and I'm from Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
I grew up in a very musical household.
Both my parents sang to me every night.
My mom would come in and sing "Girl From Ipanema.
" My dad sang Frank Sinatra.
I learned the words better than him.
He would doze off, and he would be like And the way you look And I'm like, "Dad, 'the way you look tonight.
'" He's like, "Oh, right.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
" RICHARD: He played the guitar from first grade.
He started singing into little cassette players, and, um, he was always a singer.
I started listening to reggae in eighth grade.
I formed a band with my two best friends.
After high school, I went to Berklee College of Music.
I got to take songwriting courses and performance courses.
It was It was such an amazing experience.
It's everything to me, guys.
It's It means so much that you're here.
I'll have to tell you, when I see him on stage, I'm a crier, so I'll probably cry with pride and just hope for the best.
I'm singing one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists.
[Gasps.]
It is definitely huge shoes to fill.
Say I remember when we used to sit, yeah In the government yard in Trenchtown Say Oba-Observing the hypocrites As they were mingling with them good people we meet Listen, in this great future You can't forget your past So dry your tears, I say No woman, no cry No woman, no cry But while I'm gone, you know Everything gonna be all right, now Everything gonna be all right Everything gonna be all right, yeah So we say Oooh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Say hey, hey, little sister Don't shed no tears, hey No woman, no cry, yeah [Cheers and applause.]
Oh, my God! What's your name? Where you from? My name is Mitch Cardoza.
I'm 22 years old from Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
I love this song.
I thought it was so I mean, it's a great song.
And you sang so well.
- Thank you.
- I also loved your performance.
Of course, favorite song ever.
And, um, I think you had beautiful runs and if there's anything constructive I could give you, is even a little bit more uniqueness.
'Cause I heard your style within it, and I'd even love to hear even more.
Thanks.
Bob Marley for me, especially this song, is like, it's so hard, it's so untouchable that sometimes I find myself just being like, "Ah, that's a tough one.
" But you are talented.
There's a lot of great things going on with your voice.
- Appreciate that.
- [Cheers and applause.]
BLAKE: There was a big note that you hit.
If you could've incorporated more of of that part of your voice into the entire performance, I think it would've helped you.
So, come back and see us, man.
- Thank you, guys.
- [Cheers and applause.]
Mitch was really good, but I'm looking for the goose bumps.
I'm just gonna let me heart lead me.
DALY: Coming up You could hear me on the radio Stop and thank you, baby DALY: more ground-shaking performances.
Para que te acuerdes sà no estás conmigo Despacito I wanna learn how to Whatever the name of that song is, I wanna learn how to sing.
"Despacito"! It's like the number-one song in the world right now! He's like "I love that new song, 'Despasita.
'" [Laughter.]
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back.
Gonna be a great day.
Mmm.
Thank you! She gets a jersey.
She gets [Laughs.]
I'm like Oprah.
You get a jersey.
You get a jersey.
DALY: Let's get to know this next artist.
MIA: My name is Mia Boostrom.
I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts.
When I was about 4 years old, my dad bought this piano for the house so he could learn.
And I would sing along, but I didn't really start singing until I was in middle school.
I immediately started writing my own music in high school.
I decided, on a whim, to go try out for a competition.
And what I thought was gonna be an amazing experience ended up being the hardest thing that I've ever had to go through.
I got so many negative comments.
It was no longer about my talent.
It was just about the way I looked.
I was never a small girl.
I was very overweight.
I mean, I was 15 years old.
And I was no longer known for my music.
I was known as the fat girl.
It's stopped me in my tracks.
DINA: It took a toll on her.
So, as a mom, it was difficult for me to see that, because she's blessed with a beautiful voice.
I love music.
And I feel so bad that I left it for as long as I did.
[Voice breaking.]
It's been a lot.
It's been a lot of humiliation.
I didn't want to step on a stage again because I was scared what people would say.
Maybe it's my time to go back out there.
Maybe it's my time to try again.
"The Voice" is everything that musicians need.
It just shows you can be everything you want to be in one moment.
If one person turns around for me, that's enough.
She nervous? [Exhales deeply.]
Climb on board We'll go slow and high tempo Light and dark Hold me hard and mellow I'm seeing the pain, I'm seeing the pleasure Nobody but you, 'body but me, 'body but us, bodies together I'd love to hold you close, tonight and always I'd love to wake up next to you I'd love to hold you close, tonight and always I'd love to wake up next to you So we'll piss off the neighbors In a place that feels the tears A place to lose your fears Yeah, reckless behavior A place that is so pure, so dirty, and raw Be in the bed all day, bed all day, bed all day Of loving you and fighting on It's our paradise, and it's our war zone It's our paradise paradise, paradise Be in the bed all day Bed all day, bed all day I'm loving you and fighting on It's our paradise, and it's our war zone It's our paradise And it's our war zone [Cheers and applause.]
You guys are crazy.
Whoo! - Whoo! - Whoo! There you go! - Yeah, baby! Yeah! - Whoo! You're good.
Oh, thank you.
You are gonna be the best one-chair turn of this season, maybe ever.
- Ooh.
Thank you.
- You are incredible.
- What is your name? - My name is Mia Boostrom.
You know when I knew I had made the right decision? W-Well, there were a couple moments.
First moment was when when you went up real high.
I thought, "Okay, she's got some control here.
This is really good.
" And then when you ended, the last little line, I was like, "Okay, and now I have the best-kept secret of the moment.
" Wow.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you.
ALICIA: Mia, you did a beautiful job.
I love the textures in your voice.
There's so much depth inside of there.
- Thank you.
- And, like, when I turned around, it was really cool, 'cause I wasn't sure who was singing.
It's so wonderful to see you, and congratulations on a great performance.
- Thank you, guys.
- Mm-hmm.
- [Sighs.]
- I will tell you why It was a little perplexing why we didn't turn around.
I'm looking for something super specific, 'cause I don't want everybody on my team to have any kind of similar vibe.
But I will say, your highs are beautiful, but your lows are, I mean, sexy.
Thank you.
They have so much just body, like, tone and rasp.
I would say play around with that.
- Yeah.
- You know? There's a lot of great stuff to work with, I'm telling you.
- You're You are real good.
- Yeah, so good.
Oh, my God.
I'm so excited! [Cheers and applause.]
- Thank you so much.
- You're awesome.
Mia she has a really interesting, kind of rich, diverse voice, which I think is awesome.
I was surprised that nobody turned around for her, too.
I don't have anybody like her on my team.
- Congratulations, sweetie.
- Thank you so much.
- Happy for you.
- BLAKE: I didn't turn around for Mia.
She's definitely a great singer.
- Bye, guys! - Just being extra picky.
I'm just looking to be moved.
Oh, my God.
This is nuts.
- Nice job, Mia! - Yeah! DALY: Coming up So take me to the pilot DALY: more amazing performances - Yeah - No! DALY: have Kelly fighting hard to take down Alicia.
No! I'm so excited that you're gonna pick me.
It's so good.
I'm just kidding! - [Laughter.]
- I'm trying to project it.
- You done? - You want to fight? Okay, okay! I'm just sayin'.
We're learning she does talk a lot.
[Laughter.]
You're learning that? [Laughs.]
DALY: And which coach will get blocked? This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back.
I've been watching "The Voice" since season 1.
I think it's the best show out there.
And now it's surreal that my daughter is going to have this opportunity.
Our daughter.
Our daughter.
Yes, it is.
JACKIE: I'm Jackie Foster, I'm 21 years old, and I am from San Diego, California.
But I'm currently living in Boston, Massachusetts.
I am the lead singer of Self Portraits, which is a band based out of Boston.
Offstage, I'm always wearing flowery dresses and dressing really cute.
And then when I get on stage, it's dark colors, grungy makeup.
It's a lot of this.
People just kind of think, "Are you sure that's the same girl?" I started singing around the house at 6 years old.
Then I started musical theater.
My first role ever, I played the Lollipop Guild in "The Wizard of Oz.
" I was so sad that I was a boy, but I was like, "If I can conquer being a boy, I can do anything else.
" And that's how I fell in love with music.
I was a Munchkin.
[Laughs.]
In high school, I heard of Berklee College of Music.
I just knew that this is the college where I wanted to be.
Financially, we were not able to afford it, so I had to look at other schools.
And then I got a call from the director of scholarships, and he said, "I want to congratulate you because you've received the Berklee Lollapalooza Scholarship.
" Wow.
[Voice breaking.]
And that phone call changed my life that day.
Throughout the years, I have studied musical theater, then I was classically trained, then I started doing pop, kind of going into alternative rock.
This is just so important what this show has to offer.
And I just have faith that this is gonna be a life - life-changing experience.
- Yeah, it will be.
- Whoo! - Yeah! Whoo! Yeah! I heard that.
[Cheering.]
La, da, da, da, da La, da, da We are searchlights We can see in the dark Pretty.
We are rockets Pointed up at the stars [Cheering.]
We are billions Of beautiful hearts She has a nice voice.
And you sold us Down the river too far [Rhythmic clapping.]
What about us? What about all the times you say you had the answers? And what about us? What about all the broken happy ever afters? Oh, what about us? What about all the plans that ended in disaster? What about love? - [Cheering.]
- Go, baby! What about trust, and what about us? What about us? Yeah What about us? What about us? What about us? No! No! No! [Cheers and applause.]
Girl power! Whoo-hoo-hoo! No! No.
No, ma'am.
- Yes, ma'am.
- No, ma'am.
What is your name? Jackie Foster, I'm 21 years old, and I'm from San Diego, California, but living in Boston.
I'm just gonna say you're awesome.
- Thank you.
- And congratulations, 'cause either one of these lovely ladies gonna be amazing.
It was like somebody slapped a mouse trap on my hand when I saw Alicia go in.
I was like, "No.
" What?! What about when I went in? No, I'm not afraid of you.
- Oh! - [Laughter.]
But Alicia scares me a little bit.
You know I scare you.
[Laughter.]
I'd go with who believes in me the most, that turned around first.
You have a point.
Fair enough.
KELLY: You wailed.
Y-Your range is insane.
Just so much depth to your voice and that's what I've been waiting to turn my chair around for people Mm, mm, mm.
is somebody that shows me the versatility in their voice, where I could throw any song at them, and they'll be like, "I got it.
" I want someone that confident and, you know, I'm just so glad you're on my team.
- [Laughter.]
- Oh, my gosh.
I love San Diego.
It's the best zoo.
Okay, okay! Hold on.
We're learning she does talk a lot.
- [Laughter.]
- You're learning that? [Laughs.]
ALICIA: First, super, super beautiful.
Your voice had so much texture, and it was an intimacy that was really genuine.
And then as it got bigger and it grew, it was also very powerful.
And your tone is really accurate.
[Applause.]
Is this the type of music you want to do? Tell me your dreams.
I grew up studying, honestly, every style of music.
You know, I was classically trained.
Me too! I'm just saying, me too! Me too! - Ah, damn! Ah, damn.
- Me too.
I'm still on this journey to figuring out who I am.
I just kind of want to go a route where I feel like I can belt my face off if I want Yes.
or sing a beautiful, tender moment.
Yes.
That is so interesting.
[Laughter.]
I love I mean, for 15 years, that's what I did.
I could maybe be a good coach.
That's all I'm sayin'.
I'm just I'm so excited that you're gonna pick me.
It's so good.
I'm just kidding! - [Laughter.]
- I'm just kidding.
I'm trying to project it.
I'm trying to project it.
Jackie, if you were on Team Alicia, there's just so many places that we can explore together.
I think I'd be able to open you up to even more sides of yourself and then put that all together and be one magnificent you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I love singing country music.
That's known.
I love singing pop-rock.
I love My whole new record is straight-up, like, R&B-pop.
So, I love a lot of different styles.
We're probably very similar in the sense of, like, we both have a very odd iPhone with music.
Me too.
It's okay.
[Laughs.]
Yeah.
See, another thing we have in common.
- [Laughter.]
- I don't even know It's awkward for Everyone's here, and we're just having our moment.
And it's We're so in sync.
All right.
Now, Jackie, it's time.
Who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Whoo! I pick This is "The Voice" ADAM: Jackie, it's time.
Who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
Whoo! I pick Kelly.
- Can you hear my heart say - Yeah! No, you ain't nobody till you got somebody KELLY: I was really trying to beat Alicia, 'cause she is hard to beat.
She's highly intelligent.
But I have arrived.
- Thank you for picking me.
- No, thank you.
I'm so excited.
Being classically trained does set you up to be able to go in and out of genres.
And I'm just really excited about all the different avenues that Jackie and I can explore with her voice.
Oh! I'm in shock right now.
I'm so happy.
And it's just so many dreams just came true for me.
[Cheering.]
Oh, my gosh.
It was so surreal.
- Let me see your jersey.
- I know.
Look at this, guys.
- This is so cool.
- I It feels so surreal.
Why Kelly? I think our voices are very similar, and one thing I've always admired about her is that she's constantly changing, choosing different styles that really she feels fits herself.
She could totally help me become the artist that I want to be.
That's awesome.
Congratulations.
That's yours.
Welcome to the show.
Thank you! Oh, my gosh.
That's so exhilarating.
And you feel like you're gonna vomit, 'cause you know they're gonna pick Alicia.
And then they didn't! "And then they didn't!" Oh, I'm so excited! DALY: While Kelly celebrates her win over Alicia, let's meet this next artist, who spends her days working at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
KAYLA: My name is Kayla Woodson.
I'm 23 years old.
I am originally from Waggaman, Louisiana.
I work at the Red Onion six days a week.
The Red Onion is, um, a grab-and-go food option.
I stock sandwiches.
I'm refilling sodas.
White bean and bacon or beef stew.
I get to have a day job that can help me pay rent, 'cause, you know, that's important.
It's really cool and inspiring as a country music artist to be able to work here.
There are days in the morning, no one's here, and I can walk upstairs and see all the history.
There's this cool gold record wall.
Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline people that have paved the way for artists like me.
Trisha Yearwood her application to work here is up in the museum.
I see these song lyrics and I see these stories of artists.
One day I want to be in this museum, you know? I started singing when I was 4.
There was a very popular band back home.
They had played at fairs and festivals.
And one day, I apparently told my mom, "I want to go up there.
" Next year, I was on the main stage and from there, I had a band.
We played fairs, festivals, parties, weddings.
My parents worked really hard.
My mom, she really helped with booking and my dad and my brother would help with, like, loading stuff in and onstage.
When I turned 18, obviously, I moved to Nashville, and I knew it was something I needed to do.
For me, "The Voice" can help establish something bigger.
I mean, it's a whole nother level.
Having my family here today is a really cool validation.
They've helped me get here.
You know, they've really put a lot of effort into it.
[Exhales deeply.]
Whoa, yeah No good, two-timin' Lies comin' outta your mouth Cheatin', mistreatin' games That you play brought you down Broke my heart, tore it apart Look who's got the last laugh now And don't you come crawlin' back beggin' please On your knees Baby, if you're missin' me You can hear me on the radio You wanna turn me on, turn on your stereo You can sing along while they're playin' our song How you done me wrong Crank it up Till you blow the speakers out your Chevy truck Listen, Romeo, when you're feelin' kinda low Let me tell you where to go Turn on your radio Oh, turn on your radio Oh, turn on the radio, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, you can hear me on the radio [Cheers and applause.]
Come on! Oh, my God.
That was so close.
She was good.
She had a strong voice.
Aw! - Hi.
[Laughs.]
- What's your name? My name is Kayla Woodson.
I'm 23 years old.
You have this incredible range.
I know the one thing that kept me from pushing my button was there was a lot of sharp notes in there.
You're overshooting the note a little bit.
It's better than than being flat.
- I'm sorry, buddy.
- That's okay.
[Laughs.]
You have a big, huge, powerful voice.
But I cannot not hear Reba singing that, so it's such a hard comparison for me to listen to another singer.
ALICIA: If there is anything that I would offer you, would be that I would love to hear a little bit more dynamic, 'cause I felt like it started real strong, and then it kind of ended real strong, and I wasn't able to feel the dynamic that you have inside of there, which I know you have.
- You should feel super proud.
- Thank you.
I'm guilty of watching Captain Country over there.
Sounds like a cereal.
And that's stupid, because a great voice is a great voice.
Please come back and sing again, 'cause I promise you, someone's gonna turn around.
- Yes, definitely.
- Thank you.
- Nice, Kayla.
- Thank you.
[Laughs.]
- [Cheers and applause.]
- Thank you so much.
BLAKE: You know, Kayla sang a-a really tough song.
There was just something about her voice, just needs a little more fine-tuning.
I need to take my time and pace myself.
That was hard for me.
Sometimes that winner could be day four, day five.
It could be deep on into the blind auditions.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
Oooh-oop! DALY: Let's check in with the next artist.
[Laughs.]
REID: My name is Reid Umstattd.
I'm 34 years old.
I'm from Austin, Texas.
I work at Waterloo Ice House.
I'm a bartender here.
It's my father-in-law's restaurant.
As much as I love bartending at the restaurant, the last three years have shown me how much I miss singing and performing.
I've been in a band since junior and senior year of high school.
But things musically really started taking off for me after college.
The band started traveling across the country, played hundreds of shows.
One night, I looked out into the crowd, it's just black shadows, except for this one light pointing at this one girl, and that was Jena.
I knew that night that I could not be any luckier.
We got married in 2013.
Touring was pretty hard on us, and I was just missing home more than I had before.
So, in 2014, I quit the band.
So, it's been three years since I've been out of music.
I continue to work more full-time at my family's restaurant.
I heard Reid's voice before I ever talked to him.
I was just so blown away by his talent.
I was an immediate fan.
I have seen how much Reid cares about music.
I've seen how much it has been missing in his life.
So, this opportunity with "The Voice" is amazing, and I could not be more proud of him.
Today is huge for me.
It's gonna be the first solo performance I've ever done.
Bring him in.
[Cheers and applause.]
"The Voice" is a major second chance for me.
[Exhales sharply.]
Yeah! A little Elton.
Well, if you feel that it's real I'm on trial, and I'm here in your prison Like a coin in your mint, I am dented And I'm spent with high treason Through a glass eye, your throne Is the one danger zone Take me to the pilot for control Take me to the pilot of your soul - He got it! He got it, baby! - Yes! Yes! - Whoo! - Oh, Alicia! Take me to the pilot, I am but a stranger Take me to the pilot, lead me through the chamber Take me to the pilot, I am but a stranger Na, na, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na Yeah, said take me to the pilot Lead me through the chamber I said take me to the pilot I am but a stranger Na, na, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na I said take me, take me Yeah, yeah I said take me, take me Hey, yeah Yeah Hey [Cheers and applause.]
Yes! [Cheering.]
Whoo! Ah, so happy you're here.
- Thank you.
- What's your name, dude? My name is Reid Umstattd.
I'm 34 years old.
I'm from Austin, Texas.
Reid, I'll just say that the reason I didn't - hit my button is - Doesn't matter.
I don't have very much country stuff on my team, so I'm trying to play it as best as I can.
And you got two great coaches.
Thanks, man.
I'll I'll let it slide.
- Yeah, okay, good.
Thank you.
- Ah! I like him already.
No, that's so Texan.
I love the confidence.
I loved your vocal, but I literally It's my first season, and I have specific things I really want on my team, and I'm waiting for it.
But I'm so glad you're on the show.
I saw them turn, so I knew you were Alicia Keys turned around for you, dude.
I mean, come on! [Cheers and applause.]
Here we go.
Here we go.
That does not happen.
Now I'll allow the smear campaign to begin.
Don't really pay attention to anything he says.
Alicia, I'm happy you turned for Reid, 'cause, as his coach, it's nice for him to have confidence.
[Laughter.]
I'm so happy that that was the Elton song that you chose.
You don't sound anything like him, actually, which is great.
You did it like Reid.
You've got a killer voice, killer range, soul for days.
You have pocket, and then the song I can't believe it.
I love you, and I want you on my team so, so badly.
And Alicia Keys is this person who I'm obsessed with.
Just hearing her name Just hearing her name is incredible.
Don't look directly into her eyes, man, like It's too late, man.
It's too late.
I know, I know, I know.
It would be more fun to spend time with me.
I could play that piano that Elton was playing.
Oh! You know what I mean, while Reid is singing? - Yeah.
- I can play that.
I can I can play that guitar, and I can play those drums.
I can play that bass.
I can't play the keyboards, but I can play everything else.
No, babe.
No, babe.
That's not what Elton does.
I know.
[Laughter.]
Anyway, your voice, man, is so powerful.
It was so much fun.
I'd love to know a little bit more about you.
What do you do for a living? - I'm a bartender.
- Okay.
Damn it, I should've pushed my button! So mad I didn't turn around! So mad, so mad! I would love for you to choose me as your coach, and I think we could do craziness and go all the way and have an incredible time.
Yes! Yes! [Cheers and applause.]
I very, very rarely get to find someone who I feel shares a lot of the same ideals and tastes.
I believe that you can win this show.
I'm your guy, man.
I think you should be on my team.
There is nobody more dedicated than me.
I want to help bring out your greatness.
I want to showcase that greatness.
I want to lift it up.
I love you, man.
I think you belong on my team.
I think it'd be a mistake not to be.
- Thanks very much.
- All right, Reid.
As a fellow Texan, who are you gonna pick Adam or Alicia? [Audience shouting.]
I appreciate both of what you guys had to say.
Uh Please, please, please.
I pick Adam.
Yes, thank God.
[Cheers and applause.]
I was so scared of Alicia Keys that my instincts kicked in, because she gives such compelling arguments.
But his vocals really spoke to me, and I was not gonna let him go, even at the expense of my friends hating me.
- [Cheers and applause.]
- Yes, Reid! I liked Reid a lot.
I told him I'd play the piano for him.
Didn't work, he went with Adam, but it's cool.
[Laughs.]
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to night three of the blind auditions.
All of the artists this season have something unique to offer our coaches, and this next artist is no exception.
[Beatboxing.]
I can do anything you like Hey! My name is Jorge Eduardo.
I'm originally from Mexico Guadalajara but I'm currently living in Dallas, Texas.
My dad is a mariachi singer.
He's pretty well-known.
He had a very big hit when he was like 24, 25 years old.
No te detengas Entrego las riendas de la libertad JORGE: In Mexico, it's hard to be an artist.
There were times that we struggled as a family.
Economy in Mexico is not the best one.
I have a better opportunity here to make things financially work.
I kind of grew up, uh, watching my dad, like, perform.
- How cool was that? - It was awesome.
Since I was a kid, I always dreamed about being on stage and doing what my dad did over here.
How far did you get in your music career when you were still in Mexico? Before I was over here, I made, uh, this TV show called "La Voz.
" You were on "The Voice" in Mexico? - Uh-huh.
"La Voz.
" - That's incredible.
How many chairs did you get in the blind audition turn - on Mexico? - Four.
- You got all four chairs? - Yeah, and - How'd you do? - I-I got fourth place.
- That's awesome.
- Thanks, man.
[Laughter.]
"THE VOICE: Mexico" has taught me about what being an artist is.
But I've always wanted to be on this "Voice," because of all the other artists, this is like a complete different level.
I'm about to sing to my idols.
I'm really happy to be representing the Latino community.
For my blind audition, I'm doing "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee.
This is the perfect opportunity to show the coaches my style.
When I walk through those doors, I want to make my American dream come true.
I feel good.
[Cheering.]
I'm sorry.
That was so good! - Thank you.
- Oh, my God! Oh, my God! - Thank you.
- That was so sexy! Yes! What?! I'm moving like I'm moving like this.
I'm moving like this.
I'm moving like this.
Yes! Y'all are dumb! I have been trying to cover that song.
That is a hard song to sing.
I'll teach you.
I'll teach you gladly.
Okay, I'm married, but that's cute.
- I feel like - [Laughter.]
- I'm just kidding! - I feel like you picked him literally before he started singing.
Seriously.
Kelly scared me when she turned.
[Laughter.]
Like, she turned so fast, I got thrown off my game.
I didn't know what to do after that.
I don't know if anyone's ever turned that fast in the history of this show.
The fact that you came out here I'm sorry.
What's your name? [Laughter.]
My name is Jorge.
I'm originally from Mexico.
- Yes.
- [Cheers and applause.]
Now I live in Dallas, Texas.
What?! What?! What?! Oh, my God! It is meant to be! I'm Texan, brother.
We're gonna win! [Cheers and applause.]
Yes! Oh, my gosh, my, oh, my Somebody fan her off over there.
First Yes! I'm so excited.
I'm so excited.
And then can you teach her a little bit of this song? I think it's all about like just feeling it and going with it.
Despacito - Yes! - Hey, hey, hey! Y'all couldn't see him.
Y'all couldn't see him.
He was working.
He was like, "I ain't even afraid of it.
" Hey, Jorge, it would be awesome if you taught her how to sing that.
- Yes.
- It would be monumental if you could teach me how to sing that song, man.
- That's true.
- That's what - We can try it.
- I want to learn how to Whatever the name of that song is, - I want to learn that song.
- "Despacito"! - It's a deal, it's a deal.
- Okay.
"Despacito!" It's like the number-one song - in the world right now! - Despacito - Yeah, there you go.
- Why don't you - come to your - I know it.
- We'll do a duet.
- He's like He's like, "I love that new song 'Despasita.
'" [Laughter.]
"That is a great tune.
I love that tune 'Despasita.
'" This is a country that has a lot of Spanish-speaking people.
- Like, this is - [Cheers and applause.]
Yes.
It's so good! Cool down, Kelly! What, you need one of these? - No, I'm just saying.
- You sure? - I'm right, though.
- Take it.
- She needs a drink.
- That's why they're cheering.
They're like, yes, "Despacito.
" It's so good! It's so good! [Cheers and applause.]
Okay.
You're on my team! Yes! There's a big void in music right now that Jorge really has an opportunity to fill.
So I'm really excited about Jorge.
I think everyone's aware.
[Laughs.]
Despacito DALY: As the night went on Maybe I DALY: both Kelly and Blake went head-to-head for pop-R&B artist Jamella.
I was raised by a single mom.
She was a dancer.
She was recording and doing music and incorporating it in our lifestyle.
So I grew up into it.
She would move for different jobs.
But eventually, we moved out to California pretty much for my music.
We have our own two-bedroom, two-bath apartment.
She's my best friend.
Everything that we've been through, it's it's been a struggle.
It hasn't been easy.
But I'm happy.
You started at 4 and you never gave up.
I know.
You've taught me so much.
- I love you.
- I love you.
[Voice breaking.]
I'm really happy, 'cause I just want to make my mom proud, too, and I know I'm doing it.
I pick Kelly.
Yes! I don't want to be here if I can't be with you DALY: And Adam followed Kelly's lead when he added a powerful pop singer to his team.
What's your name? Where are you from? My name is Angel Bonilla.
I was born Carlos back in the Philippines.
- Oh.
- What? Okay.
ANGEL: As early as 5 years old, I already knew that I am a girl trapped in a boy's body.
Growing up in a very conservative family, it was very difficult for my father.
When my dad saw me as a girl for the first time, he was puzzled.
He's not sure if I am his son, but he embraced me.
I promised him that I will do great things.
I wanted my father to be proud of me and I'm doing this to honor him.
Yes! Welcome to Team Adam.
[Cheers and applause.]
- Thank you so much.
- You're awesome.
Quiero ver bailar tu pelo, quiero ser tu ritmo DALY: Stream tonight's blind audition songs only on Apple Music Que le enseñes a mi boca - You used to call me - DALY: or buy them on iTunes.
On my cellphone This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
AUSTIN: My name's Austin Giorgio.
I'm 21 years old, and I'm from Rochester, New York.
And I like to dance.
You want to know how to dance? Two things hands out, cross, boom.
You could start doing some Michael Jackson moves if you want.
You could start moonwalking.
My style is very jazzy but very fun.
I'm telling you, guys, this is gonna be nuts.
I love Sinatra and Tony Bennett.
I took the blows I was introduced to music through my father.
And did it my way My father was always in the car industry, but he was also part of a five-piece jazz band while working full-time.
Are you gonna come on the stage with me and sing? Uh, yeah.
- Are you gonna do a little hey? - Whoa! So I began going onstage with my father when I was real young.
He'd just come right up on stage like he was a pro.
That's when I knew he was onto something.
My father was hands-down one of my greatest influences, honestly.
I've learned a lot from him.
I might cry.
[Laughs.]
Currently, I'm singing at corporate events, restaurants, weddings, but a coach would help me take the next step.
My style of music's very different than what most 20-something-year-olds are pursuing, so this is a big risk for me with old-school jazz.
My dad's always been my biggest inspiration.
He always wanted to be an actor and singer.
This is me picking up the torch where my dad left off.
I love him.
I love my dad.
[Whispers.]
I'm so excited! So excited! All right, everybody, here we go! Needed the shelter of someone's arms And there you were Needed someone to understand my ups and downs And there you were With sweet love and devotion Touching my emotion I wanna stop And thank you, Blakey I just wanna stop and thank you, baby Whoa, yeah, how sweet it is To be loved by you Za, za How sweet it is to be loved by you You were better to me than I was to myself For me there is you, and there ain't nobody else I wanna stop and thank you, baby I just wanna stop And thank you, baby, whoa How sweet it is, oh, my dear I mean it, tell me, don't you know To be loved by you How sweet it is to be loved by you [Cheers and applause.]
Thank you, guys.
Whoo! What's your name? My name's Austin Giorgio.
I'm 21, and I'm from Rochester, New York.
I have that same suit.
He has the same suit.
It fits on one of his legs.
[Laughter.]
I could feel that you were performing, because he must've been running around all over the place.
Oh, my God.
Pelvic thrusting.
- [Cheers and applause.]
- Yes! What you're doing and what you do, and, clearly, you know, you walk the walk.
Everything is dialed, and you're a performer.
It's a balance between the performance and the singing.
And I felt like it was leaning heavier on performance, so I wasn't able to hear what I need to hear to turn.
You have, like, this beautiful presence about you, and you got something special to you.
- Thank you.
- I'm super happy that Kelly and Blake are ready to rock with you.
Tell him what you could do for him, Kelly.
KELLY: Let me talk, let me talk.
I love I mean, Ella, Rosemary, Sinatra, I love all of it.
I mean, I don't know if you know this, but, like, I also won a singing competition.
And I'm just saying you have to have a bit of strategy in a competition.
And so you have to showcase a little something different about yourself.
So it would be cool if you chose even, like, a contemporary song and made it this style.
Despacito [Laughter.]
Yes! Yes! I'm just saying, pick me.
Thanks, Kelly.
Thank you.
Are you done? Maybe.
I, too, have won a show like this.
Not as a contestant.
And somebody who's a crooner standing up on this stage would look down here and go, "A country guy? What does he know about what I do?" - Exactly.
- And I'll tell you this Exactly.
- You want to fight? - [Laughter.]
One of my favorite vocalists is Michael Bublé.
And I see so much of what he does in you.
We'll FaceTime him and all that stuff.
- Oh, my God! Oh, my God! - You know what I'm saying? - FaceTime.
- We're friends, too.
I know Michael Bublé, too.
Um, but I'm just saying, I can FaceTime him with you.
FaceTime.
It's time for you, Austin, to pick your coach.
Come on, Austin! Come on, come on! Come on, come on! Austin! Let's do it! I have to pick Blake as my coach.
Yes! Yes! Yes! [Cheers and applause.]
I thought he was gonna go with you.
I did, too! AUSTIN: I chose Blake because he loves that crooner stuff.
He's very good friends with Michael Bublé, so I'm gonna soak that stuff right in.
Dude, you're great! I'm back in the game.
I'ma have to steal you.
Austin is the real deal.
He's an incredible vocalist, and he's got tons of personality.
You did it! You know, going up against Kelly, she's shown some fight, and it's not paying off for her so far, and that makes me very happy.
How did I lose?! I can't believe it! I really wanted Austin.
I hate that I lost to Blake even more.
[Laughs.]
[As Blake.]
Like, I can talk to Michael Bublé, too, on the FaceTime.
[Laughs.]
DALY: Coming up Por donde quiera que pase, oh DALY: an incredible four-chair turn has our coaches pulling out all the stops Sà no estés tú, baby If I liked women, I'd like Alicia.
DALY: and one coach gets blocked.
You were obviously put on this planet to do what you just did.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
Let's meet the final artist of the night, 26-year-old New York karaoke host Johnny Bliss.
What was it about karaoke that you found exciting? It was being able to sing in front of an audience and not in my bathroom.
Eso JOHNNY: When I was 19, I started singing karaoke.
Calma mis ansias de amar Hearing everybody respond positively was something huge for me.
I started hosting karaoke about three years ago.
Everybody, make some noise! But being a karaoke host is not enough.
I hope to be a crossover artist who sings in English and in Spanish.
I feel like I'm ready to take the stage and become the artist I always dreamed of becoming.
So, Johnny, where did you grow up? I actually grew up in the Washington Heights area.
It's predominantly Dominicans there.
But I am half-Dominican and half-Puerto Rican.
- What was your childhood like? - It was hard for me to fit in, 'cause I went through the whole bullying thing.
I was in the closet and also obese as a child.
As a teenager, I was having a really tough time, and I went to live with family in Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
I was so young and I was still trying to find myself.
I found people who were like me, music lovers who actually loved the same type of music I love.
They wanted to hear me sing and I finally made real friendships, so I felt home.
I gained so much confidence that when I moved back to New York, I decided to come out to my family.
My grandma, she's the only person that has always been there.
If my grandmother accepts me, then I don't care who doesn't.
And when I told her, she hugged me and she said, "I'm gonna love you unconditionally because you are the love of my life.
" It was this huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
I am the proudest grandma in the whole world, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you.
All I've ever wanted is to make my my family super proud of me, for everybody to just acknowledge that I fulfilled my my potential.
This is stuff that I used to dream about when I was little, and it's actually happening and it's unreal.
[Chuckles.]
For my blind audition, I'll be singing Marc Anthony, "Preciosa.
" "Preciosa" means "precious.
" And in the past year, Hurricane Maria was devastating to Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
So, I wanted to take this moment to pay tribute and sing this song for them.
When I heard that Kelly Clarkson was the new coach, I was very excited.
She's done ballads.
She's done rock.
She's done pop.
She writes.
She would be amazing to work with.
There he is.
[Exhales deeply.]
Yo sé lo que son los encantos De mi borinquén hermosa Por eso la quiero yo tanto Por siempre la llamaré preciosa Yo sé los bardos Que cantan tu historia No importa el tirano te trate - Con negra maldad - No! No!
Whoo! He made it! Ahh! Whoo! Yeah, he made it! ALICIA: Whoo! Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Wow.
- [Blake laughs.]
- Wow.
KELLY: Do you see? Do you see what these fools did? - That was so beautiful.
- It's red.
I'm blocked.
[Laughter.]
Thank you guys so much.
- Thank you so much.
- Wow.
Wow.
What's your name? I'm Johnny, Johnny Bliss.
Yes, Johnny Bliss.
Johnny Bliss.
I like that.
I love that shirt.
- [Laughter.]
- You're the only one.
You can You can have it if if you want.
"You're the only one.
" [Laughs.]
Look That was funny.
That was funny.
I'm gonna just tell you something real quick.
I blocked Kelly.
That's cold.
That's not cool.
I just want you to know, the second I heard you sing, I thought, "Okay, who's gonna stand in my way of this?" If I could block everybody, I would have.
[Laughter.]
I think that you have not only the voice that can that can go all the way here, but what I also believe is that there are those really rare moments where I can actually lose myself in something and feel something so incredible and overwhelming, and I-I had one with you.
And so, I thought to myself, "Man, all I want to do is be part of this guy's journey of what you're doing up there," 'cause it was so, so special.
So thank you very much.
Thank you so much for those beautiful words.
And I only have one Block, by the way, so I used it on you.
That's it.
I don't get another Block the whole rest of the time.
[Laughs.]
Whoa! - That's strong.
- It's wrong.
I can't even believe I'm looking at you right now! This is crazy! I can't believe I'm looking at this "blocked," Adam! Hey, sometimes we got to do what we got to do, man.
I'm so mad! That's pretty evil.
I'm so sad that you are not on my team.
And I believe this firmly in my heart, I feel like this music is missing from radio.
And you should also know, this was a four-chair turn.
- Yeah, this was a four - I mean Well, until you blocked it.
That doesn't count now.
It's still four chairs.
This is insane.
Johnny, did you come out the womb singing like that, or did you learn it? 'Cause that seems like it's in you for lifetimes.
I'm from New York, so Okay.
I like the New York connection.
My whole family's from New York.
My entire family, New Rochelle, represent.
Not with that shirt, you're not.
He said "represent.
" [Laughter.]
So, it's always been my passion to sing.
Like, there's no plan B for me.
You were obviously put on this planet to do what you just did.
I would love to get to know you better and to continue to bring out of you that greatness that's already inside and show the world what New York looks like.
That's right.
I do hope that you join Team Alicia so that the New York connection can continue to soar.
That was beautiful.
I'm excited, Johnny Bliss.
[Cheers and applause.]
Johnny, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure you were singing about drinking beer and eating chicken-fried steaks.
What?! Out on some dirt back road with me, hanging out, doing country things.
- That sounded weird.
- That was my I don't care if it sounded weird.
That was my fantasy.
Just say yes so he'll stop talking.
Yeah.
Maybe that's not what you were singing about, but it got me excited about your voice and about your performance and I hit my button.
I just want you to know that there's obviously a connection between you and Kelly.
And I just want you to take that into account, that the guy down on the other end took that opportunity.
- Took it away.
- Took it away from you.
You don't even get a chance to work with Kelly Clarkson.
We could've been beautiful, Johnny Bliss.
Oh, my God.
Kept you from having a four-chair turn - on "The Voice.
" - Don't Don't listen to him.
You know, actually what I was singing about was Puerto Rico, - so - Yeah.
Yes.
So, Johnny, who are you gonna pick? Wait! Before that, wait.
- [Laughs.]
Oh, man.
- Wait.
This is very important to me, Johnny.
And I feel that you should know I was named after my Puerto Rican godmother, Alicia.
Oh, damn, she went there.
She got it.
She just won.
Damn.
She just won.
And And one of my favorite songs I ever wrote, it was important to me to do a version of it, be able to reach as many people as possible.
It went Soy soló para ti Y nada me hace feliz Sà no estás tú, baby Sà faltas tú, baby No quiero más variedad Sà ya no será de más Que el mundo es un vacÃo Sà me faltas tú [Cheers and applause.]
Oh, my God! Give me a hug! [Cheers and applause.]
KELLY: Whoo! ALICIA: Yay! I wish you the best.
The best.
I do, with everything.
Everything.
Thank you so much.
KELLY: She got off her chair and was like, Spanish, Spanish, Spanish.
Like, whatever you were spe I was like That was the sexiest damn thing.
I am married, but I'm telling you what, if I liked women, I'd like Alicia.
[Cheers and applause.]
She was like, "Hey!" Like, how are you not gonna pick her? As amazing as that is, I can't refute that, and I never would want to, but this is You're picking a coach.
- And you have lost.
- I am a coach.
Okay, Johnny, it's time to pick your coach.
[Audience shouting.]
Alicia! Alicia! You say who you want.
Talk about passion?! Right here! I don't understand.
All I hear is Alicia! Alicia! In Jesus' name Aw.
I pick Alicia.
- Yeah! - No eres tú, soy yo Soy yo I'm sorry, Adam! Of course.
When she sang, it was over.
[Laughs.]
That was good.
ALICIA: Johnny Bliss sang totally in Spanish.
I understood every word and everything.
Even though I didn't, that was the way he related in his performance.
Whoo! It was one of the most outstanding performances I've ever seen, period.
And he's mine.
No eres tú, no eres tú, soy yo Ahh! Whoo! Whoo! Whoo! Whoo! This is insane! Whoo! Oh, my God! Did that just really happen? Alicia, you are so sexy.
[Laughter.]
That was so cool.
Thank you, Kelly.
You are hilarious, by the way.
- You're so awesome.
- Aww, you too, mama.
- You too.
- I would've had a chance.
REID: I'm a bartender, but I want to be singing.
I want to be performing.
KAYLA: It's really inspiring to be able to work at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
ANGEL: I am a girl trapped in a boy's body, and I want my father to be proud of me.
JORGE: Being from Mexico, when I walk through those doors, I want to make my American dream come true.
Let's live in the moment DALY: All with one goal to be named The Voice.
Oh, what about us? DALY: Tonight Por donde quiera que pase, oh DALY: the blind auditions continue.
BLAKE: Whoo-hoo-hoo! You were obviously put on this planet to do what you just did.
ADAM: You are one of the greatest gifts we have been given on this show.
DALY: With talent this good I feel like this music is missing from radio.
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure you are singing about doing country things with me.
[Laughter.]
DALY: Our coaches will have to raise the bar All I want to do is be part of this journey - 'cause it was so special.
- Yeah! I love you.
And, you know, I'm just so glad you're on my team.
Women'll be like, "Yes!" DALY: to build the team they want.
I get you.
It would be a dream come true to be your coach.
Alicia Keys turned around for you.
I mean, come on.
- Paradise, paradise, be in the bed all day - DALY: Making it even harder, Adam and Kelly have yet to use The Block.
If I could block everybody, I would have.
Wait.
Sà no estás tú, baby - [Laughs.]
- Damn.
Sà faltas tú, baby DALY: Prepare yourself, America.
I am married, but I'm telling you what, if I liked women, I'd like Alicia.
Tonight, anything can happen.
[Blake whistling.]
And here we are - "Open Arms"? - Yeah.
- Journey? - Yeah.
[Laughter.]
DALY: Let's meet the next artist.
BRETT: My name is Brett Hunter.
Dude, always with the stuff on the bed.
- I know.
- I'm 30 years old.
And me and my brother are really close.
Yeah, Brett we we share a bed.
- [Laughter.]
[Whispers.]
This could be the winner.

With a ukulele? [Laughter.]
Look at Kelly.
What is wrong with you guys? Yeah! I have the next Tiny Tim! - [Laughter.]
- Yes! Idiots! Idiots! What does that mean? Nothing he says means anything ever.
Oh, he knows what it means.
It's a It's a ukulele reference.
I was like, he doesn't look a thing like "The Scrooge" thing, I don't Tiny Tim? Like, I don't know.
I was like, what? Also, Kelly, you're sitting next to Blake, so get ready to be constantly confused by everything.
- [Laughter.]
- All the time.
Hey, Blake, why don't you ask this nice young fella his name? I would if you would shut up.
- [Laughter.]
- What's your name, man? My name is Brett Hunter.
Man, I-I got to tell you, I've never been more surprised.
I did not expect to see a dude up there playing ukulele.
A ukulele? I didn't expect you to be white! [Laughter.]
- That is true.
- That's 100% true.
Yeah.
When I did turn around, the ukulele was really interesting to me.
Now, can you play that song on the ukulele? - Yeah.
- She's a bad mama jama Her body measurements Are perfect in every dimension - Hey! - Play! She's got a figure That's sho' 'nuff payin' attention She bad mama jama [Cheers and applause.]
Whoo! Yes, man.
Yeah! Dang.
- I can promise you right now - [Laughs.]
- Kids these days.
- How old are you? - [Laughter.]
DALY: Coming up What about us? DALY: night three of the blind auditions What about all the plans that ended in disaster? Puerto Rico DALY: has our coaches out of their chairs Yes! I'm moving like this.
I'm moving like this.
DALY: and one coach gets blocked.
I can't believe it.
What?! Okay, okay! This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to night three of the blind auditions.
I'm in New York City on my way to meet our next artist, Jamai, whose job is as unique as his voice.
[Buzzer.]
But you keep on thinking You got it bad, ooh [Cheers and applause.]
ALICIA: Yes! Yeah! Ahh! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yeah! Hey! What's your name? - Jamai.
DALY: Put yourself in our coaches' chairs.
Get the "Voice" official app.
Play along and build your own "Voice" team.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
