I loved to see it come out when it was just her and I.

But I have questions.
I do think she's emotional.

It's both.
That's the thing I don't understand.

I'm not used to feeling like this.
I didn't expect to come in and feel this way, And it scares me to death.
She's entitled to emotions.

The emotional side of chantal-- it worries me.
I am hoping that in chantal's hometown, I'll see a much less emotional side to her, And we can move forward.

The very first night that I spent with ashley, I just knew something was there.
You make it very, very easy for me to open up.
You know what I love about ashley? Do you love it? Oh, I love it.
She is so happy and outgoing And just so energetic and bubbly.
She has everything that a guy would want.
I'm so happy.

So happy.
Those feelings are there for both of us, But we have had some speed bumps along the way.

You know, it's, like, honestly, I've never experienced All these emotions before.
I haven't second-guessed A single thing between ashley and I.

I was like, "why am I even here," you know? I know.

It's crazy, but-- Quite frankly, I thought I knew exactly where we stood.
Now I have no idea again.

Every single time we've spent together, It seems like we're reassuring each other about our feelings As opposed to moving forward.

I just want to be sure that my personality fits with yours.

This, is, like, the nicest thing anybody's done for me In, like, the longest time.
Emily's been through a lot.
She had someone in her life that she cared so much about He was the absolute love of my life.
Right.
And she lost him in a plane crash.
It was the darkest period of my life.
There's so much love that emily has for her ex, And she holds on to that-- rightfully so-- But it sets the bar very high For any man to try to come into emily's life.
But I want to be given the opportunity so badly.
I'm trying my hardest to break through to emily.
Em, I don't want to walk away from conversations Regretting anything, I just want to be myself, but this is me.
I-I move very slowly, and it's-- Trust me.
It's not from lack of interest.
I care more for you than I should probably say right now.
There's something very real there between emily and I.
She's what I'm looking for in a wife.
She just is.
I feel like in anguilla, Emily and I took a major step forward in our relationship, But emily--it's so much deeper than just her and I.
I mean, emily has a daughter.
I-I really wanna know-- One, would you allow me to meet ricki? I am Overprotective.
And I've Really never introduced her to anybody that I've dated.

I'm falling so hard for emily.
How in my right mind, at the end of all this, How can I propose to a woman That I haven't even met her daughter? How could I do that? There's no comparison between how I feel now And how I felt last time I was the bachelor.

One of these women is going to be my wife.
I'm really looking forward To meeting four very different families, And I'm so excited to see where they came from And to see four different hometowns.
Today's my hometown date with brad, And I feel just as crazy and in love with brad As I did back in costa rica and anguilla, So I'm excited and I'm ready to take our relationship To the next level.
I was in such a long relationship with my ex-husband, That that's all I know how to do.
Because I am a total relationship person.
It's definitely a huge risk to take and put yourself out there, And today is really about brad getting to see Who I really am with my family, and that's huge.

But it's tougher because the feelings just get stronger.

Not only is death inevitable, But we're a death-denying society, So everyone-- people are scared of death.

This is really gonna almost be the final test For brad and I's relationship.

Like, 70% of our business is cremation.
We come in a little earlier and start it.
We usually get about three done.

I've been thinking that if shawntel and I get married, These are going to be our conversations.

I've been asking myself all day, can I handle this? So follow you, where it says "danger"? So here is the prep room.
So I spend a lotta-- a lotta time in here.
But I prefer coming in here, by myself, And embalming.
It fascinates me That you embalm people.

So you want to see some of the instruments I use? Yeah, I do.
Or do I? I don't know if you want to, like, sit on the table, Then I can really show you how I embalm.

Laying on an embalming table, Looking up at shawntel with a face mask on, I'm thinking in my mind, How many bodies have been on this table? I'm actually gonna take this mask off.
Well, what happens is I would take a scalpel Maybe not.
Make an incision.
And then what I would do is I would take an aneurysm hook, And this would be me going through your incision And finding your carotid artery and your vein.
Then I, like, release the vein And I get good fl--you know, drainage with your blood.
(chuckles) are you, like, creeped out or what? Yeah.
This is really weird.
Strange, strange experience.
(click) so this guy--this is, like, a needle injector.
Yeah, that--that scares me.
This one does.
Shawntel thoroughly loves the embalming process.
That's so Strange to hear.
In your vein, I would put-- Like, a drain tube in there.
(clicking) Okay.
And I am ready to embalm.
You really just-- You got a good feel for what I do.
(brad) I've been on a few dates in my life.
This is a first.
You know, where do we go from here? I don't need to see a dead body.
I-I really don't.
So this is where I come in and I meet with families.
You know, I sit here with the little binder And I would talk to you, And I have flower books.
I don't know.
Sometimes it's-- most times it's really happy, And sometimes it's really hard.
Wait.
So you said some of these conversations are happy? Mm-hmm.
Arranging a funeral? Really? I know.
As weird as that sounds Oh, nothing sounds weird at all, Just--I'm gonna tell you, I don't handle death well.
Mm-hmm.
I don't.
I'm just being-- I'm being v-- I don't handle saying good-bye to people well.
Mm-hmm.
So to know that-- it's hard.
People handle death so differently.
Mm-hmm.
That's why I never walk into an arrangement thinking, "this is gonna be great.
Everyone's gonna be Really happy.
" yeah.
You know, that's not true.
Like, everyone's different.
But being the funeral director, you're the first person That talks to the family Yeah.
When, you know, the death has happened.
I could not do it.
No way.
I'd cry with the families.
I just have a lot of passion for people.
I love talking to people and making them feel better.
You know, a lot of people are like, "oh, death is creepy.
It's scary," but if you think about it, There is so much love in here.
Like with all the husband and wives and kids, it's hard Yeah.
But a lot of times it's really--it's good.
The description of shawntel's career And the tour of the funeral home and the mausoleum-- It's pretty creepy-feeling, But to see her so full of life, Talking about the tasks involved in her everyday job, The grief--it's a testament to her character.
I'm highly impressed with shawntel.
Let's say I move to austin and I could Okay, let's say you do.
I could, um, embalm at different funeral homes.
That's all I would do.
They would hire me to just do an embalming, Not work a service or anything Yeah.
But just use my prep room skills.
Brad did so well.
Him just being able to go in the funeral home--oh, my gosh.
That was like, whew! All right, let's get married, you know? You can go into a funeral home and just lay on a prep table? Oh, my gosh.
I have never had that before.
And for him to just be comfortable with that was-- That meant a lot.
You're gonna love my family I bet.
And they're gonna love you.
That's debatable.
I'm getting really excited.
We're getting really close.

So I took him to the mausoleum, through the funeral home.
There's still one more part to this That I'm like, this is really going to say a lot.
You're really gonna get a sense of how I grew up, Like, you know, where I come from.
The plan has been for me To take over my dad's side of this business, But at the same time, Being with brad and falling in love, It's like my heart has opened up to a lot more, To maybe the thought of moving to--moving to austin.

And not to feel bad about that because I was able to help out, But clearly, you have already been part of this community In the area of caregiving.
