Tyra: Previously on "America's Next Top Model" ( cheering ) Tyra: It's Cycle 21 and hot guys are back in the competition.
With the return of Miss J - I'm back.
- Tyra: we decided to kick things off with our 31 semifinalists rockin' the runway.
And with judge Kelly Cutrone back in the panel I'm ready to crush some dreams.
we got to know our guys and girls a little bit better.
Kelly: You did not, girl.
Tyra: Work.
My name's Raelia.
I'm from Philly.
I like to twerk.
Tyra: 22 toochers and boochers made the first cut as they bowled their fates.
Coming back 10 times harder.
Let's go! Tyra: But with only 14 spots for the finalists, the second round of cuts begins right now.
Cycle 21, y'all.
( indistinct yelling ) Denzel: We've got the final 22.
I'm excited, but then all of a sudden I remember Kelly's words and I'm like, "Wait a minute.
" - The game's not over yet.
- Oh, no.
You have one more week to become finalists.
One more week? I thought I made it.
- Where are you from? - I'm from Iowa, how about you? - Kari: Shut up! I went to Iowa State.
- Shut up! Kari, I'm crushin' a little bit on her, I have to admit.
I went to University of Northern Iowa.
- Okay, you and I-- - And Adam's just a ball of energy and fun.
- Might as well hop up here.

Mr.

What is he doing right now? We started doing pull-ups.
We started bro-ing out a little bit.

Chantelle: I feel okay about the boys being on this season again, but I really think that females run the modeling industry.
It just takes a strong girl to step on top and be like, "No, you know what? I am the winner, thank you very much.

Yes, well - How can you walk in heels? Word, word! Will: These other guys ain't got nothing on me.
They need to move out of the way because I'm gonna be in my six-inch heels coming for ya.
I'm gonna try to do like a girl would.
All right? Matthew: Putting guy and girl models in a house together, there's gonna be twice as many distractions.

Keith: It's like midnight and we get to the subway.
I'm just excited to see what's gonna happen next.
Models, welcome to the LA Metro - here in the heart of Hollywood.
- ( cheering ) I am Franco Lacosta.
You might remember me from last cycle.
Franco: I want you to feel like you're a bird and you're emerging from a place.
It's like a rising of the phoenix.
Silence.
I remember how hard he was on the contestants last cycle.
He's gonna be super critical of all of us.
So I got really nervous.
I've been a model, a designer, and a photographer.
And I'm here to help you.
So here's the challenge.
You will be making four stops in the LA Metro Red Line.
Each stop will represent each season, spring, summer, fall, and winter fashions.
You will only have a few minutes to put together a complete outfit and get onto the train before the door closes.
Miss the train and you will be left behind.
( gasping ) Denzel: We're gonna be judged on the clothes that we pick.
Not only do we have to pick 'em out, we have to have at least three articles.
Pressure.
Once on the train, I will be photographing you.
You each will only have a few moments to impress me.
And trust me, if you want to become a finalist, I suggest you win this challenge.
- So, are you guys ready? - Yes! - Go.
- ( indistinct yelling ) Matthew: Most important, give a good photo.
Pick good clothes and make sure I'm on the subway.

Keith: I want this competition.
I want to be a finalist more than I want to breathe.
And I'm ready to win this challenge.
Let's go! Three two Hurry! One Intercom: Stand clear, the doors are closing.
I really, really, really wanted to win this first challenge.
We have 60 seconds to pick out an outfit.
And then you have to work this outfit out on a moving train.
It's just like, "Oh, my God.
" Franco: Your face is one-sided.
You need to work on your expressions.
Lindsay: It honestly feels like a dream come true.
Even to just be here right now.
I've done a bunch of modeling around Mississippi, which doesn't really count for anything because there's no market for models.
So, basically, I did everything for free.
Franco: These pictures are not going to be retouched or filtered.
Me being a professional athlete, everything that's on my mind is win, win, win, win, win.
Franco: Well done.
Get out of here.
For sure I am not bored with you.
So, ladies, you're looking absolutely gorgeous and beautiful.

Lenox: Franco is telling me that I need to pay more attention to the outfit, which is hard 'cause I only had a minute or two.

Mirjana: I actually think Matthew's really cute.
He definitely has the model look to me.
I actually had no intentions whatsoever that there was going to be a girl here that I'm interested in, but Mirjana is foxy.

I don't think you're gonna be riding with us anymore.
- Okay.
- Mirjana: I just got disqualified.
There is no way I'm going home this early.
So I definitely have to bring it the next thing that we do.

I've been working for this forever and I feel like this is finally my opportunity to show the world who I am.

I have a knack for just picking up on things.
Some people are annoyed by it.
Franco: Up next is fall.
I want you to think back to school.
This is your opportunity to prove yourself that you are worthy to be in this competition.
I'm like, "Okay, fall.
A little bit warmer, more layers.
Go to it.
" It was so much going on.
It was crazy.
- ( subway dings ) - Jamie Rae: I heard the doors ringing.
I was like, "Ahh.
" And I was freaking out.
I have one more piece left and I hear the doors getting ready to close.
Intercom: Please stand clear.
The doors are closing.
Wait! I'm pissed off, honestly.
This is like all or nothing for me.
I don't want to go home yet.

Romeo: I just found out that Danny was one of the people that left on the train.
I'm not Danny's biggest fan.
I can't bear to see that.
Danny: It feels pretty good that I made it onto the train.
Romeo, ahh, I got you.
Franco: This outfit's a little boring.
So Franco's sitting there telling me my look is boring.
This is the second time I've heard this.
From Tyra and from Franco.
- All right, you're boring us.
- Tyra: I agree with you.

Kari: I do wanna stand out.
I'm a fierce competitor and I'm going to go after it with all I got.
Ivy: This challenge relates to modeling because you always need to be on your game.
You have to be prepared at any moment to go on and perform at your best.
The numbers are narrowing down, so don't be lazy.
Go and do it and come back looking like winter.
We have no space to mess up right now.
It's kind of like now or never time.
I got the shoes that he told me to bring.
And I hear the doors start to close.
- ( subway dings ) - You better be coming.
--! Mmm.
I should've just tossed my shoes.
- But he said, "Get shoes!" - I wasn't even close to getting-- - ( groans ) - Ben: I was ready.
I was raring to go.
I just-- I didn't make the last train.
And unfortunately it cost me 'cause I really think I could've won.
Well, this is unbelievable.
There's only two left.
I made it happen and I'm back on the train.
And at that moment I realized that, "Wow, I actually could win this.
" You're very lucky to be here.
At least you have a jacket, we're covering winter.
I am one of the final two to make it back onto this train.
I couldn't be happier.
When I'm posing in front of the camera, I'm comfortable, I'm calm, I'm collected.
I take direction well, so however they want it is how I'm gonna serve it.
Franco: More playful.
I'm extremely competitive and I wanna win this because first impressions are everything.
No matter what anybody says, first impressions are everything.
Okay, guys, this was a really tough challenge.
And remember, winning this challenge goes a long way towards becoming one of the final 14.
And it is between Matthew and Danny.
Matthew, you were fun and playful.
Danny, you're fantastic and I really love how you were excellent in everything that you did.

The fun that you brought into the shoot was fantastic.
I really think that this is an example of how far personality gets you.
Matthew: Tyra said I was boring, which, the truth is, I was a little bit vanilla, so I had to bring it and step it up and I think I did.
Romeo: Guys, guys, guys.
I think we should enjoy the time we have now.
I'm not happy that somebody stayed, but they're here already, so might as well just enjoy that.
- Anyway - ( laughing ) Denzel: So we get back and we're all clownin' around and we're all excited and here comes Romeo the wet blanket.

Like I said, I'll be sending somebody home, but until then I guess I'll have to breathe the same air as you.
Danny: I'm noticing a whole different side of some people.
They're putting on a real front.
I'm like, "What the hell's going on with this kid?" ( indistinct chatter ) I'm gonna bitch-slap that kid.
I swear to God.
- Gets on my damn nerves.

- I just can't stand the guy.
- You been doing it for how long? - Since I was 13.
- Danny: It's a brand-new deck, like, "Oh, I got this new deck.

Yesterday he's all, "You're mad cocky.
" And I'm the furthest person from cocky.

He likes to hide in corners and talk about people instead of being out and open about it.
So I think that's what really annoyed Mirjana and I.

Keith: Can't we all just get along? We're all gonna be in one house, so everybody's gonna demand respect - and I definitely want respect.

I'm sittin' here thinking, "We've only been here one night and you're already startin' drama.
" I'm like, "Oh, God.
This is gonna be a long competition.
" I think the more I learn the boys' personalities, the more I don't think they're attractive.
Will's one of the girls.
I had to ask him, "Do you mind if I call you girl?" He's like, "Call me girl, I'm a girl.
" I'm like, "All right, girl.
" L'Meese: The guys are strong competitors, but, guys, I would say pray hard, because the girls have a natural gift and you're in an uphill battle.
- ( cheering ) - Beach! We're at the beach! Raelia: Look at the sunset.
- Fire one of those sticks at me.
- Mirjana: We got s'mores.
We have chocolate.
It's amazing.
I was actually cold and Matthew gave me his jacket.
- How romantic is that? - Pass them around.
Lenox: It's just like a giant party.
But we're all contemplating what's going on, why we're at the beach.
'Cause obviously they're not gonna just take us to the beach to have fun.
Who didn't get a marshmallow? - Hey, you guys.
- Hello, models! ( cheering ) Chantelle: Kelly Cutrone comes out and I see Yu Tsai walk up on the beach and I'm like, "I know exactly who that is.
" Don't ever do that.

Gorgeous, right there.
It's a great pleasure to introduce you to my friend and world-renowned and celebrated photographer Yu Tsai.
Yu Tsai has created some of the most memorable images as well as worked with Kate Upton and Irina Shayk, and if you guys don't know who they are, you shouldn't even be here, frankly.
You'll be seeing lots of me because I'm not only shooting your photos today, I'm gonna be here with you on every photo shoot.
Oh, man, -- just got real.
Yu Tsai, he's like a genius in my book.
My style helping sometimes is gonna get rough.
Oh, my God.
He's very hardcore.
- We do not play.
- No.
Everyone's on edge.
You can cut the tension with a knife.
I'm gonna be here with you on every photo shoot - as your creative consultant.
- Will: To work with Yu Tsai is a huge deal and so I am super nervous about what's about to happen.
All 22 of you will be entwined together - to create one nighttime, sexy group shot.
- ( cheering ) Sexy's good.

- Are you guys ready for this? - Yeah! Well, you're not ready yet until you get hair and makeup.
Go! Danny, how many times have you had makeup just in your career? I've gotten makeup quite a few times.
This is number three and number two in the competition.
- Oh, yeah? You gotta get used to that.

Right now I'm a little jittery, I'm not gonna lie.
Most of the models in the competition, they've got way more experience than me.
But I can't let that get in my head.
- Matthew: Did you see the wardrobe yet? - No.
Matthew: Oh, my.
It's like dominatrix stuff.
- Kelly: Hi, Mirjana.
- How you doing? - I'm good.
How old are you? - I'm 18, I'm actually the baby.
Who do you like or do you think's cute? Matthew's definitely cute.

Well, yeah.
She was cold and I was trying to flirt.
I don't wanna be a matchmaker, but I think she's a little sweet on you, too.
Mirjana: Oh, God.
- I'm so excited for this photo shoot.
- Kelly: You are? - And you're feeling good? - Yeah, I have to prove to everyone that I can do this.
She looks like a blond, big --, trophy wife girl.
The other girls, I can sense their intimidation.
- Well, I hope you have a good shoot tonight.

Kelly: You're welcome.
Chantelle: We're doing a group shot, but first we get to work with Yu Tsai one-on-one, which is great because he gets to see all your flaws and tell you what you need to bring out to stand out in a group shot.
- You are unique.
- Why, thank you.
Tell me about this.
Well, my skin condition is called vitiligo.
Basically, my immune system thinks that my melanin is a disease, so it kills it off.
- And that results in depigmentation.
- Wow.
- You're like an X-Man.
- ( laughs ) - But can you model? - Let's see.
Yu Tsai: If other people are watching, this is what it means to have confidence.
And confidence is beautiful.
- Ben.
- Being from the Midwest, I've never done a photo shoot like this.
So I'm a little nervous.
- Don't touch the clothes.
- Oh, sorry.

It's just dead-end silence.
It's so silent that I'm hearing all their conversations instead of yours.
So we have to have a conversation - and find each other.
- Ben: Okay.
Ben was getting a lot of negative feedback.
Kind of that he needed to relax more.
Yu Tsai: You look like you have a stomachache.
Lenox, push your body a little.

My whole life, I grew up watching this show and so now that I'm finally here, it's so surreal.
Yu Tsai: All right, Jamie Rae.
Jamie Rae: And it's just hitting me.
I'm praying that I make it into the competition.
Yu Tsai: Twist.

The beauty pageant girl.
I'm not trying to be rude, but is she really trying to model? Yu Tsai: You got a good body.
Got good legs, but your face is the same every shot.
Kari: She's gonna be easy to beat out.

Lenox and Lindsay both look kinda the same to me.

She's an actress to me, not a model.
I describe myself as a model who happens to be farming because he needs to pay bills.
All right, here we go, Josh.
Josh: But I don't want to go back to the farm.
Josh, when you start squinting your face the way you do 'cause you think that's modeling, you become a unibrow and beard.
- Open up your face.
- Gotcha.
You know, Josh has that rugged, strong, sexy look.
But he doesn't know how to bring it out in photos.
Something's not translating.
Do you need a cow here to start milking it? - Josh: Definitely not.
- We need a cow so he can milk it so he can feel natural in his habitat.
The past six, seven years, I've put all my time, I've put all my money, everything into modeling.
If I get eliminated, as much as I hate to say it, it probably is the end of my career.
- I don't know.
- Yu Tsai: Something is not clicking, right? So I'm gonna give you another try 'cause I believe in you.

I saw star quality in Josh, but he didn't really deliver it on set.
It was incredibly frustrating for me.

( grunts ) Yu Tsai: All right, let's see what you can do with modeling.

You didn't blink once in that last session.
It was really hard out there.
The first 10 seconds, I kinda used up all the moves I did have.
I didn't have too much in my repertoire.
What kind of exercise do you do? What does it look like? Like that.
- Yu Tsai: And you pop up? - It's like ( grunts ).
Now make that into a fashion.
Up, don't break your form.

Are you a trained dancer, Will? Make sure your face gives contrast.
So it doesn't all go soft.
That's beautiful.

I think it was almost harder for the guys.
- More of the guys had problems.
- I saw-- was it Ben? - Yeah.

- He was up there for, like, forever.
- It's like, oh, my God.
Zaquan: Ladies, you've had the spotlight for 20 cycles and then all of history.
Cycle 21 is redemption for the guys.
This time, one is gonna win.
Yu Tsai: So, Romeo, you have an editorial body, so don't go into the mode that everybody else is doing.
Don't try to flex your muscles 'cause you got none.
Get into the pocket where you're good at.

Yu Tsai: Well, show me what you got.

Danny: Romeo's definitely not in my head.
I feel like I'm more in his head because I kinda just showed him that I'm a B-O-double-S and he's scared.
All right, I think we're done with this, right? ( cheering ) No, you're not.
The fun just began.

- Are we feeling sexy yet? - ( all laughing ) - Into the hole right there.
- Shei: I've never worked in a photo shoot with more than two, three people.
So working with 22 people is going to be very nerve-wracking.
Yu Tsai: And when we shoot, I want you guys to actually pull the energy from each other.
Denzel: Will's hand is on my nipple.
I mean, dude, after this, you're gonna have to buy me a drink 'cause I normally don't do this on the first date.
Yu Tsai: Go! Lift, lift! Energy up! Go, go, go.
Lift, lift! Get the energy up, up! Body up! Romeo: All these models coming together that are wet, it's slick, it's awesome, it's sexy.
Yu Tsai: Fingers, face, eyes.
You're in the middle of the tide.
Here we go.
Raelia: This group photo shoot was so sexy and fierce to me because we were all tied up.
I definitely felt sexy being entwined with 22 hot models.
Yu Tsai: There you go.
Constantly moving.
Josh, you're doing great.
I don't need them to be perfect.
I wanna see who has the most potential.
And those are the ones that should be in the final cut.
You guys, here we go.
You got five frames left! Show me all you got! Five four three two one and that's a wrap! ( cheering ) Lenox: I'm really nervous about the elimination just because nobody's safe, but I really hope I'm not going home.
I'm feeling a little bit nervous just because I was the late girl, and then today with my photo shoot, I mean, it was okay.
I don't think it was great.
We'll see how my pictures came out.
Yeah, I'm a big underdog.
I just hope I get through.
Before today, I was feeling really good about my chances and advancing in the competition.
After that pretty terrible photo shoot, I could 100% be going home.
Denzel: Coming down to the nitty-gritty, boys.
I'm definitely more nervous after my shoot to be eliminated.
I don't want to go home.
I've put so much into it.
I need to continue.
So we have 22 models and we got to narrow it down to the final 14.
And those finalists are going to enter the competition and fight to the death.
And only one of them is going to be "America's Next Top Model.
" - Kelly: True.
- But we gotta start with a major cut.
- Tyra: Look at your babies, Yu Tsai.
- Yu Tsai: Look at that.
Tyra: That picture is insane.
Let's go model by model.
Let's start with Adam.
Mr.
Party Central.
Kelly: He looks like a Hawaiian Tropics pool boy.
Tyra: I just think he has too much hair and it's pulling down his face.
Yu Tsai: He showed up on set screaming when we were shooting him on the beach.
He was like ah! ( grunting, barking ) Is that passion or is that crazy? I think he has no sense of self and he doesn't look like a model to me.
- Tyra: Jamie Rae.
- ( groaning ) - Jamie Rae.
- Ah, come on.
Don't you think if you scrub it down-- we scrubbed it off and she had a nervous break! - It was empty.
- Miss J: The thing about Jamie that I did like after we took some of that makeup off her face, she actually had something underneath all the gook.
There is something underneath it.
Ben.
Miss J: He looks like he's part of a boy band.
- Kelly: He's cute! - He's too tall to be in a boy band.
Yeah, he's cute.
He's like an all-American, Hilfiger, Abercrombie.
- I'm not a fan of Ben's.
- You're not feelin' it? Yu Tsai: No.
Tyra: Chantelle.
I thought she was unique, she was beautiful, she was tall, she modeled from head to toe.
Chantelle, I just think she's just learned modeling 101 from a catalog, sort of.
Like, you know Kelly: Yeah, but she's like a master's degree in courage and differentiation from her brand and standpoint.
She could get a lot of attention.
Okay, Ivy.
There's a little nymph bird.
She's tiny.
Yu Tsai: I like her eyes, I like her little features, but She looks like tweet, tweet, tweet.
