What's so great about police work is you never know what's gonna happen or when it's gonna take place.
And you got to be able to take care of the situation.
Especially on a boulevard like this with thousands of people around.
We just pretty much add another, you know, level of comfort to people when they see us on foot.
So, it's always good to get out and take a walk.
Hey, you know what, look.
There's that female we seen earlier with that male.
Now she's talking to every other male that walks by.
- Let's go talk to her.
- All right.
Earlier on in the night, we seen a female and a male walking down the boulevard.
I seen the female talking to males as they pass by.
We know that when females try to approach males, a lot of times it's for prostitution.
A lot of them are shrugging her off.
You know, she was just going right on to the next guy.
So, right there, I had reasonable suspicion to stop her.
- Hi, Officer.
- How you doing? - What's going on tonight? - Nothing.
Just having a good night.
What are you guys doing? Hey, come here and talk to us.
- We want to talk to you.
- Huh? - We want to talk to you.
- For what? Come over here real quick.
Control one, DP.
Copy 468, one time BFA in front of Miguel's.
This is my boyfriend.
Why you walking away from him and talking to guys? Because I'm supposed to be meeting somebody in here.
I'm just talking to guys because I'm feeling myself.
I'm just talking.
But your boyfriend's over there.
and I'm chilling.
I'm not doing anything wrong, I swear to God.
'Cause I-I got reasonable suspicion that you're - out here prostituting.
- I'm not prostituting.
You ever been arrested for it? No, I haven't, and I'm not even from Vegas.
- Nothing? - I'm from the Bay area.
Do you have ID on you? - No, I do not have my ID on me - You come to Vegas - and you don't have ID? - Huh? You come to Vegas and you don't have ID? Well, I been out to-- I used to stay out here six months ago.
But the only reason why I don't have ID is because I lost my ID a couple of weeks ago and I just came to LA, like, the other day.
Okay.
The reason-- like I said, the reason why I stopped you, we got two ways to stop you, probable cause and reasonable sus-- reasonable suspicion.
- I have reasonable suspicion that you're out here - No, I'm not.
Okay, 'cause what I see is I see you guys walking together, not talking at all, all right? If I'm out here with my girlfriend, I'm talking - No, because some guy walked by - Let me talk.
and said something to me, and I, and I said, and I told-- some guy just was talking to me and I just cussed him out.
Okay.
'Cause he shouldn't have been all in my face.
Okay.
Well, the thing is, is he's-- your boyfriend's standing over there, you're out here with your phone, which is typical for what girls do when they loiter and solicit.
Uh, Belanger, grab her.
Grab her.
Back the Take her to the ground.
- Back the Cuz, back the fuck - Stop resisting! - Stop resisting.
- What the fuck, cuz?! - Back the outta my Back the fuck - Fight her! Oh, my gosh! Metro Police.
Stop resisting.
Give me your hand now.
Give me your hand! Stop resisting.
Back up! Everybody, back up! This is crazy! - Everybody, back up! - You act like it's wrong! Okay, listen, we're gonna have to figure it all out.
You have to give us your hand.
I'm not doing anything, I swear to God! I understand.
- Give us your hand - This shit is crazy! so we can take you away from here, okay? Let us do it so we can take you away.
I'm not doing anything, sir.
They started bothering me.
He snatched my phone out my hand.
That's not my phone.
Listen, if you keep fighting and stuff, it's just gonna get worse.
Look, sir, I promise.
Why would they bother me? 'Cause I have blonde hair? I'm not out here working.
My name's Scott.
What's your name? First name.
- My name-- my first name is Shameka.
- Shameka.
I don't have anything on my record at all, but a juvenile shit from when I used to fight.
That's it! That is it! That's all! That's crazy! They all on me! They on me! I didn't do shit! Like I said, let us get it all figured out.
I didn't do anything! I need you to relax, okay? - All right? - I didn't do nothing! Right now, cooperating is gonna help you, and then we'll figure everything out.
Sir, can I-- my bra is undone.
- We're getting you a blanket right now.
- You feel me? - We're getting you a blanket right now.
- I didn't do nothing.
We're getting you taken care of right now.
- Can I get up? - No, we're-we're getting you a blanket.
- Can I get up? - You're not getting up.
We're getting you a blanket right now.
See about it.
Man, this shit is crazy! That's what's so crazy.
Y'all don't feel the speed.
Relax.
No, don't handcuff me! No! - I didn't do nothing! No! - Relax.
No, man, 'cause I didn't do nothing! This shit is crazy! Everybody around here got heels.
Please tell me, please.
Man, this is crazy, man.
I didn't do nothing.
Y'all don't understand! I didn't do nothing! Where am I going? Y'all said I was gonna sit down.
We're going right over to the car.
- We're gonna go over to the car.
- You're not gonna talk to me.
Are you gonna talk to me, let me go? What's going on? Why did y'all tackle me down?! For what?! It don't make sense! Because y'all want to make an assumption that somebody else is doing something that y'all see other girls doing? - Whose car is this? - This is, I think, Arondale's.
Arondale's got it tonight.
and this is some that I got to go through? This is crazy.
This is crazy.
Out of all the people y'all could lock up-- rapists, killists, all that.
All of that.
Y'all gonna probably-- y'all gonna take me to the police station, don't lie to me.
She goes out and she starts talking to random males.
So we go over and stop her.
And, uh, right after that, she, uh-- Pillard's talking to her.
He's, uh, getting the story, trying to talk to her and see what she's doing.
Um, she immediately pulls out her phone.
And he's, you know, doing a legal stop on her.
And she starts texting somebody.
So he tells her to put down the phone.
And at that point, she starts walking away.
So Pillard yells over to me, and I grab her.
And as soon as I grabbed her, she, uh, she just threw a haymaker and hit me right in the nose, so I grabbed the front of her, and, uh, the fight was on.
She was wiry.
We couldn't do hardly anything but just hold her down and wait for more units to get here.
I was drinking tonight, but and I did go off, and it was just a reaction, and I did not mean to do any of the things that I did.
It was just a violent reaction, because I got mad, because I do not like when people touch me or when people grab stuff from me.
Oh.
And I'm gonna go do my time, but I really do apologize.
And I'm not even trying to be on no funny stuff.
Okay.
I take it as a woman that I did what I did, I really do.
You know, I know what I'm talking about.
- I really do apologize, though.
- I appreciate that.
- I do apologize.
- All right.
You know, I'm gonna go to jail and do my time, like they gave me, but I do apologize.
I'm sorry for putting my hands on you, I'm serious.
I'm going to jail regardless.
If I really wasn't sorry, I would just be talking shit right now, but I really am.
I'm sorry for putting my hands on you.
All right, well, we appreciate your, uh, apology, okay? Uh, sir? And you're gonna be going to jail for a battery on a PO.
My primary assignment right now is DUI-- covering it-- and my primary function is to find and stop motorists who are driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and then the second function is to respond and help patrol out with, um, priority one calls for service.
All right, we're gonna stop this car because it has an expired registration but it has, uh, current tabs, so it's got false tabs on it.
Hello, how are you? I already know 'cause I got stopped yesterday.
- For what? - For my tags.
What's wrong with your tags? 'Cause my car was stolen, and I showed him all the paperwork.
All right, but what's wrong with the tags? Because my car was stolen, and they had to replace 'em.
- The what? - They had to replace 'em.
I can't hear you, hon.
- They're supposed to replace 'em.
- Oh.
And that's 'cause I was in the hospital, and Well, we pulled you over 'cause the registration is expired and it has false tabs on it.
Is that what you're talking about? Yeah, and he called it in yesterday.
- Why didn't you take 'em off? - Huh? Why didn't you take the tags off? - I didn't know - Oh.
I didn't know what I was supposed to do.
- Whose car is this? - Mine.
- Registered to you? - Yes, sir.
Okay, let me see your driver's license.
Want me to get the last six? - You on probation or parole? - On probation.
What are you on probation for, hon? Um, it was for, um, I guess it's called forgery.
- I think that's what it was, yeah.
- Forgery? All right, what about you, sir? Um, court probation.
Court probation for what? Oh, like theft stuff? Do you have some ID on you? - What about you, sir? - Just court.
- For what? - For domestic.
Domestic? Sounds like everybody's on court probation.
All right, so Darlene has a no-bail warrant for her arrest and she's on county probation for check fraud, dope.
She's got three prior probations.
Here, Dave, run this person, too, so they can get on the air.
She's got a no-bail.
Come on out, Darlene.
Turn off the car for me.
Face the car.
Bring your hands behind your back.
- What'd I do? - Huh? Well, you're on probation, so we're gonna deal with that first, and part of your probation says that you can be searched at any time, any place.
You have anything on you that's badness? Um, not that I know of.
I mean I've had people in my car, but no, on myself, no.
I have a knife that you might see in there.
- As far as weapons, that's it.
- How about you? - Do you have any drugs on you? - No, sir.
- Are you being truthful? - I'm being honest.
You're being very hesitant on the answer.
No, that's 'cause I get nervous, I'm just, you know - Oh, you're just a little nervous? - Yeah, just slightly.
- Okay, so I'm not gonna get poked by anything? - No, sir, no.
Okay, I'm not gonna find any bindles? No dope? No pipes? - There might be a pipe - Where is a pipe at? My roommate, who I stay with, honestly she does Oh, she does it? Oh, your roommate does? - Yes.
- Is it on you? It's not on me, no, but I'm just saying, I don't know if - It might be in the car? - Yes.
Okay, but there's no, no drugs on you? There should not be any drugs on me at all.
All right.
Let's step over there.
- Talk to my partner.
- Okay.
Come on out.
Bring your hands behind your back.
- No badness on you, right? - No, sir.
- Huh, nothing at all? - Pipe.
Pipe? All right, where's the pipe at? - Um - Did it fall down? - Maybe.
- It's not broken, right? - No.
- Oh, I feel it right here.
- No drugs on you? - No, sir.
All right, come on over here.
Have a seat next to your friend.
Darlene, if you were in your friend's shoes, where would she put the methamphetamine pipe? Probably right-- see that pouch right there behind the, uh, passenger seat? Uh-huh, that's probably where it would be? Okay.
The driver is indicating that her so-called friend left another methamphetamine pipe inside the car, so our chore is to find it.
So you see the crystal methamphetamine down in her purse.
- Is that your purse back there? - Yeah, I borrowed it from a girlfriend.
- Oh, you borrowed? - Mine's, mine's in the trunk.
Is it the same girlfriend that had the pipe? Yeah, she wears glasses.
They should be up in the glove compartment-- her glasses.
Oh, okay.
Is the methamphetamine in your purse yours or hers? She had some-- I hope she didn't leave it in my car.
- Huh? - I hope she didn't leave it in my car.
- That's all your stuff in the purse, huh? - Yeah.
But the methamphetamine's not yours? No, it's not, Officer.
Come on up, come on over here.
Have a seat.
Why, why you carrying the methamphetamine pipe? Stupid? She told me to put it up for her, you know, and the only place I could think was where it was.
Oh, she did? Yeah, I mean, she said put it up for her.
All right, well, uh, you are under arrest for possession of the meth pipe.
- 'Cause I guarantee, when I ask her - The pipe? - Yeah, unless she says, "It's my pipe.
" - Okay.
Okay, if she says, "It's my pipe, I told him to do - that," then - She probably won't.
- She probably won't, huh? - No.
- She's not being real - She might.
Eh, she might.
She's not being very truthful right now, but we'll see what we can do, help you out.
- All right? - Thank you.
Yep.
- You smoke dope? - I used to smoke.
- You used to? - Yes.
All right, and this is your sunglasses case? It's supposed to have my sunglasses in it.
Okay, then, why does it have the dope in it? - Did you put that there? - I didn't, Officer.
- Are you being honest with me? - I'm very honest.
You know what happens with liars? It's bad news.
- Yes, I do because I dealt with liars - Liar, liar, pants on fire, right? Yes, I dealt with a lot of liars.
You know what I'm saying? - Yes, God as my witness - How come that man that's over there is going to jail for a pipe that he said you gave him? - Is that true? - No, it's not true.
- Oh I sort of believe him.
- Oh, God.
I didn't give him that pipe.
I do believe him a little bit.
You got all the evidence here.
I understand that, I understand that.
You got a methamphetamine pipe in your purse, I mean, methamphetamine in your purse and you said there was a pipe in the car.
I can't find a pipe, but here's a pipe on him.
No, you said, if I was my friend and she, she had a pipe, where would it be? And I told you.
You should have told me it was on him in his pants.
That probably would have been a better clue.
Honest, if I would have known, I would have told you.
So you want him to go down with the pipe? Is that what you're telling me? That's not very nice, is it? - No, and it's not mine either.
- Okay.
- I mean, if it was mine, I - Well, he's saying it is, so you guys can discuss that later.
He's gonna go to jail for the pipe and you're gonna go to jail for the crank.
She had the brown case, though, Officer.
You said it was yours.
I know, but if, if I'm not gonna sit here and tell - you the whole story about what happened.
- I don't find no brown case in there.
- I'm sorry, I don't.
- There's a brown cigarette case in there; there should be.
I know, there's nothing in it.
Except money.
Is that money yours? Yes, my mother Western Union'd it to me, and the receipt should be in there.
So the money is in the brown case belonging to your friend but the money is yours? The money should be Never mind.
No, the money was in the brown case.
That's okay.
Did we learn a lesson today, Darlene? Yes, I'm not gonna help people out anymore 'cause I keep getting the crack end of it all.
- Not a very good liar.
- I'm not lying, Officer.
Do you expect me to believe all this stuff? I made a barbeque smoker out of a making different things on weekends.
You know, having team parties, people over my house.
Most people enjoy the way I barbeque ribs or tri-tip.
You know, something simple like that, but, uh It seems mundane but the job is, uh, hectic and, uh, hectic enough and high-stress, it's good to relax and just do something simple at home like that.
68, and we're just west of Henrietta.
Copy, one running westbound, 68 from Henrietta.
We got a couple cops, one's at foot pursuit and one has one at gunpoint on a traffic stop.
We're gonna help 'em out.
Where do you need me at, here or there? He kept going westbound, dude.
stable, one outstanding.
The description they gave, it's gonna be, uh, westbound from their location.
Westbound of 68th Street.
Check.
Tacking it from, uh, 52 Who's the outstanding, the driver or passenger? Passenger is outstanding.
The driver's in custody.
All right, cool.
All right, well, the driver of the 10-51 is detained, which is good 'cause in the state of California not everybody in the car gets arrested for the stolen vehicle usually, so eastbound through the backyard.
So right now we just have a outstanding passenger from a stolen vehicle, possibly hiding in the backyard of a residence.
We're gonna go check it out and see if we can find him.
The suspect's wearing a white wifebeater-type tank top.
So, where do you think he went from here? He said he ran eastbound.
This house is vacant.
I don't see any signs of entry, so he either went that way or he went that way.
Okay, east or east or south? East or south.
'Cause he said he went eastbound through the backyard.
This is his father-in-law's house.
He said he was pretty sure he ran through this way.
Could we go inside of your house, sir? Yeah, I got a guy running from police officers.
Can I go through your house into your backyard, yes or no? He's back there kicking right now.
Let's roll.
- Any dogs? - No.
Let's go.
Is your garage up? I just wanted to tell you guys I got something back there that's all legal.
Yeah, I don't care about that right now.
Okay.
Right through That might be locked.
No, here, go right through the back.
He's here-- right through there.
Cover my left.
Hey! Get your hands up! Turn around, face on your belly, now! Roll over! Cross your ankles.
Cross your ankles, now! Good? Yeah, stay like you are.
You got my cover? Got you covered.
Hands behind your back.
- What's your name, dude? - Emilio.
- How old are you? - Fifteen.
- What? - Yeah.
- You on probation? - Yeah.
Where'd you come from? - Huh? - From my friend's house.
Why you running? - 'Cause - 'Cause why? Roll over, put your knees up.
Sit up.
Why you running, dude? 'Cause I was in some business.
- Were you in that car? - Yeah.
All right, stand up.
I'm gonna grab his property.
You weren't driving it, were you? No.
What are you on probation for, man? - Uh, for fighting and, uh - Fighting in school? - Yeah.
- Okay.
Did you fall in some water or is that all sweat? - Just you or somebody - No, it's somebody's.
Oh, we can we can use that.
All right, let me just make sure you don't got anything else in your pockets.
- I know I already checked, but - All right, man.
All right.
So, what happened? Uh, we saw the Acura-- we're going opposite directions, ran the plate wrong at first-- we spin around.
Uh, as soon as we get behind him, blows a stop sign.
Um, soon as we get behind him, we light him up, he pulls over.
Both passenger and driver's side door open up.
Uh, driver foot bails kind of south southwest of us.
Passenger just keeps running west, and there was a passenger in the rear, uh, in the backseat.
Stayed put? Stayed put with the guy in the backseat.
Officer Thompson went and tracked down the driver, got him in custody.
And that's when you guys put out the description of this guy? Yeah, put out the description of this guy, and And you say you He's the one that was you ID'd him as the one in the car? - Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- Okay.
Yeah.
Hey, Emilio.
Why'd you run, man? - Because I didn't have my license.
- Oh, okay.
- Were you a passenger in the car? - Yeah, I was just a passenger.
You knew the car was hot? Uh-uh, I didn't know till right then.
Then why So, running, I don't understand.
You said you didn't run 'cause You ran 'cause you didn't have a license, but you didn't know the car was hot.
Yeah.
So why'd you run, dude? - Just scared or what? - Yeah, I was.
- Huh? - Yeah, I was scared.
Okay, you got a warrant or something? - I don't know.
I think so.
- You think so? All right.
- Hello? - Hello.
- Hey, can I talk to you real quick? - Yeah.
Hey, I appreciate all your help.
I appreciate the police department.
- Yeah, well, I'm glad we got here quick enough.
- Yeah.
We got a little garden back here or what? Yeah, right here.
What and what's up with this? I know you said you got paperwork for it, but - Yeah, I'm a medical marijuana user.
- Uh-huh.
- And, uh - Has anybody ever messed with you having this stuff or no? No.
In fact, you know what? It's got me wondering now if maybe somebody-- they know it's here.
Or did you chase him for sort of another reason, right? Oh, yeah.
He was being chased for another reason.
- You did all this by yourself? - My grandson helps me.
He's, uh he's got paperwork in there.
No, hey, I'm not Yeah, I understand.
A licensed grower for dispensaries.
And I'm just trying to be a good neighbor, there's no reason for them to see it.
And the smell has been a problem, so I put that barrier, like, a smell barrier, hopefully to blow it up.
Okay, so you're trying to be trying to be, uh, nice to your neighbors so they don't have to smell it in case they don't like it.
I told my grandson if I ever get one complaint, it's gone.
- Right.
- Yeah.
Cool.
What was your first name again? I'm sorry.
- Forrest.
F-O-R-R-E-S-T.
- Forrest.
This looks like a forest of, uh, medical marijuana here.
Oh.
- That's F-O-R-E-S-T.
- Ah, okay.
Proper name has two Rs.
- Okay, fair enough.
- Yeah.
- You got it, bud? - Yeah.
"Bud"-- was that another play on words? The guy who helped us-- where the shed was-- his backyard was full of, like, you know, 15, 20 marijuana plants, you know, like, five feet high.
So he was a little worried about us going in his backyard, you know, but it was all legal.
You know, he looked like he was, like, disabled.
You know, disabled guy on one of those scooters, so Guy was nice-- he let us, you know, check it out and found the guy there so worked out nice.
Good.
Awesome.
So he'll get charged for resisting and the - other guy for the stolen vehicle.
- Yep.
- Glad it worked out.
- Yeah.
I've got him at gunpoint.
At gunpoint, 132 and Bush.
Cover is Code Three.
