we're still racing.

made a huge mistake.

Twins Anthony and Bailey
got stumped
at the Detour.
We're actually gonna switch

The heat took its toll
on the teams.

Ricky and Cesar
and Rod and Leticia continued
their battle for the lead
They've been neck to neck
with us this entire time.

for the married couple.

where they will depart
in three groups
leaving every 15 minutes.

We've been communicating a lot
about what we've done
in the previous legs,
what we want to do
moving forward, so
CESAR:
We're really resourceful,
I think wherever we are.
RICKY: Yeah, we can kind of
take any situation
and just run with it.

We share different skill sets,

that it just makes
a great team.

We just got one straight ahead,
and we're at the top.

two legs has set the bar high.
But one thing about it--
it's a marathon, not a sprint.

He did, but I don't want

Detour.
One of the best things
about traveling around the world
is experiencing
culinary delights like this--
Colombia's festival of meats--
bandeja paisa.
Packed with rice, beans,
chicharron, eggs,
carne asada, plantains,
arepas, chorizo and avocado.
This Detour requires teams
to cook this savory dish.
They'll be judged
on the authentic presentation
by a trio of localabuelas--
grandmothers who've made
this dish hundreds of times.
The original
Willys Jeep was designed
and made in just 75 days--
a bare-bones vehicle
with no extras.
They're known here
as mechanical mules
because of how vital
they are for local farmers.
They're so revered that
owners pack them to the brim
and show them off
in an annual Yipao parade.
This Detour requires teams
to load one.
When the proud owner feels
they've been properly packed,
they'll hand over a clue.
Teams will get to either side
of the Detour
in one of these high-speed
water taxis.
-We're doing Bandeja Paisa.

It was so challenging physically
up top that we didn't want
to come down and still do
another physical challenge.
We'd rather just
go do a little cooking.

I got a emergency call
that my grandma wasn't
doing so good, and
my grandma passed away
last night, I found out.
My grandma raised me,
and she helped me become
the person that I am.
So, thinking, like,
what would she want me to do?
I got her to go out and do a lot
of adventures with me.
And so, we're here anyways.

This leg's for Grandma.

and we were kind of exhausted.

So we both know our way
around a kitchen.

who chose this Detour.

SHELISA:

I can't believe
we just climbed that.
And so, can you imagine
the grandkids going, like
-You know what they would do?
-What'd they do?
"Pick me up. I don't want
to go all the way up again."

-I'm like your backpack.
-They would cry.
You can carry yourself
up those stairs.
-That's impressive. That was

-I'm very proud of ourselves.

Lisa and I want
to come onThe Amazing Race
because she had a cancer scare
about three or four years ago.
I still get emotional 'cause I'm
still in the recovery mode.
But I just cherish every day.
This race is a great way
to represent
cancer survivors,
uh, grandparents and retirees.
DEREK:
One day, we'll be
sitting on a porch
and reflecting on our lives,
and this will be
one of our great memories.
We saw this
as an amazing opportunity
to live our lives to the max.
Cap? Oh, Capitán?
Can we go faster?

In 1999 is when I left here
-to go to the United States.
-I can't believe this.
JUAN:
We're in Colombia right now.
It's where I was born.
The year was 1999 when
my family and I jumped on a jet
and headed to the United States.
I was about seven years old,
and the United States was
an incredible opportunity
that we had.
Our whole family flourished, but
being able to look around and,
you know, actually
recognizing a lot of it is
very near and dear to my heart.
It's definitely good
to see my old country and
show Shane my roots.
I would say being here
is, uh, really bittersweet.
I couldn't be more thankful
that I get to share this
experience with my best friend.
-Um

I can only hope
that soon enough, I can
come here with my wife and bring
my daughter for the first time
so she can meet the place
that I grew up in
and know her roots.

I do freelance
and I work a lot in catering.

The key to cooking is timing.
You need to know that rice
is gonna take 15 minutes,
the oil's gonna take
probably ten minutes to heat up.
So you have to plan those things
ahead of time
so when you get there,
it happens all at once,
and the timing is right.
CESAR:
I had four burners.
I have everything working
at the same time.

And I was like, "No, we're

Growing up, I used to do
cherry picking, apple picking,
so I know what
two pounds feels like.
So I would pick it up
and be like,
"Okay, I need a little bit more.
I need a little bit more."
And I knew I did it fast.
And I knew
I had the right amount.
And so I really wanted to have
the other racers
feel our presence.
