The Amazing Race (2001) s37e04 Episode Script

There's No Addresses in the Jungle

1
PHIL KEOGHAN: Previously
onThe Amazing Race
11 teams raced to Kyoto, Japan.
At the Roadblock, Ana claimed
the Express Pass for her team.
-Here's the Express Pass.
-[gasps]
Oh, my baby did it.
-KEOGHAN: Last-place Holden
made a comeback.
-HAN: Yeah!
We're good?
Let's go! Hey, hey, hey!
KEOGHAN:
And Courtney
got off on the wrong foot.
I'm trying, Jazzy. I really am.
KEOGHAN:
A pair of difficult Detours
-led to frustration
-No, no, no, no!
Why, Nick?
-and tears.
-Hey. No, no, no.
We can do this.
KEOGHAN: Married parents
of eight, Scott and Lori,
hit their stride
and came out on top.
-[Scott laughs]
-Oh, my gosh.
KEOGHAN:
Meanwhile, dating nurses
Courtney and Jasmin
were eliminated from the race.
Don't regret saying yes
to taking on The Amazing Race.
KEOGHAN:
Coming up tonight
JONATHAN:
Amazing Race,baby!
I love it!
teams face
the jungles of Bali
MARK:
This looks like the wrong way.
[groans]
and the first-ever
Driver's Seat.
Because it's from them,
I'm kind of pissed.
Claws are out.
Route Info.
-"Fly to Bali, Indonesia."
-[gasps]
KEOGHAN:
All teams will fly
more than 3,000 miles south
from the island nation of Japan
to the islands of Indonesia.
Landing in this
tropical paradise Bali.
Known as
the "Island of the Gods,"
Bali is home to thousands
of temples
and is regularly voted
the best travel destination
in the world.
It's here
in Indonesia that teams
will face
another Amazing Racefirst
when they have a chance
to be in the Driver's Seat--
another Amazing Raceadvantage
waiting for one team.
-Awesome. Let's go.
-Let's go.
LORI:
We're leaving in first place.
We're heading
straight to a travel agency
to get our tickets
heading to Bali.
SCOT
We're excited
to get out in first
because this is the first time
we're ever gonna see
this thing
called the Driver's Seat.
Phil said,
if we get there first,
we get to dictate
what everyone else does,
the other teams,
-in that specific challenge,
and so
-Huge, huge advantage.
-you got to be
in that Driver's Seat.
-Yeah.
-Travel.
-[speaks Japanese]
LORI:
Up.
SCOTT:
We need to book travel
to Bali, Indonesia.
-Denpasar International Airport.
-Denpasar. Okay.
As soon as possible.
CARSON:
The Driver's Seat coming up.
That's definitely crazy.
I do believe
that there is sort of this
-unspoken agreement
in the air that, like
-Mm-hmm. Yeah.
if you're in the front,
let's stay in the front.
-GS Travel. Perfect.
-GS Travel.
Can we do the exact same thing
that they're doing?
[laughter]
Okay, guys,
see you at the airport.
-All right, I'll see you.
-See you then.
-Here you go.
-Thank you.
-Domo arigato gozaimasu.
-Thank you so much.
Okay. Thank you.
-We're flying to Bali.
-I know.
JONATHAN:
Hi. How are you?
We got the Express Pass
on the last leg, and, uh
we know that gives us
the ability to bypass
any Detour or Roadblock.
And so we definitely want
to use that, uh, strategically.
I feel okay
about having Scott and Lori
and Carson and Jack ahead of us.
We get along with them.
And so I feel like they're
not gonna try to do us dirty
on the Driver's Seat.
I feel like
they probably wouldn't screw us.
So, like, I don't know if
I don't think I'd want
-to screw them.
-LORI: I don't get
that vibe from them.
By loading them up and making
them use the Express Pass.
-Thank you so much.
-Thank you.
-WOMAN: Thank you very much.
-Have a good day.
It's got to be
one of us three teams
-JACK: Yeah.
-that does it because then
Because if we were
last or second-to-last,
we'd be like,
"Those three, bottom."
SCOTT:
If you're gonna hit
someone heavy,
-they have to leave that leg.
-They have to be out.
-Agree. Agree.
-Agree. Agree.
-Because they're gonna
come back at you.
-We're gonna go to Bali.
-Bali.
We can't freaking wait. Taxi?
-Today we left in fourth
-MELINDA: Fourth place.
which is the best we've done.
-It's pretty exciting.
-Right behind us, though, is
-MELINDA: is Mark and Brett.
-ERIKA: Mark and Brett.
And then, also, Pops and Jeff.
And that Driver's Seat.
-Oh, my gosh.
-That's gonna be scary.
Arigato.
[speaks Japanese] Okay.
-You got us?
-Yes? Thank you.
ERIKA:
Were there any other teams here?
-Yeah, there were.
-What time were they out--
-did they fly out?
-Uh
-Can we get on that?
-7:15?
Can we do that flight?
-GS Travel.
-Up maybe.
-MARK: Hey, guys.
-ERIKA: Hi.
MARK:
We are looking
for tickets to Bali.
JEFF:
GS Travel. It's right here.
-Hi.
-JEFF: Hey. What's up?
Okay. Okay.
-I want that same flight.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-The same flight.
ERIKA:
Thank you.
-We'll see you in a few minutes.
-All right.
-See y'all in a few.
BRETT:
Arigato.Thank you so much.
-Same flight as them.
-Yes.
-POPS: All right.
-JEFF: Thank you so much.
Hopefully
this flight fills up after this.
So, other people came in here,
dressed the same?
-Is this the same flight?
-Yeah, all the same.
JOSIAH:
Thank you so much.
-Did other teams come here yet?
-Yeah, they did.
-[chuckles]
-Well, all right.
NICK: Can you get us
on that same flight?
-We can try.
-Okay.
-First available flight is 7:15.
-Yeah. Let's do it.
MIKE:
We came in eighth,
and we somehow
got the first flight.
[laughs]:
I'm not complaining about that.
This is exactly what we needed
with that, uh,
Driver's Seat coming up.
Now it's really anybody's game.
BOTH:
First available.
And, like, quickest.
-As fast as possible. [chuckles]
-Yeah.
There's nothing
earlier than 10:55?
Uh
Mm-mm.
Okay.
-Okay?
-Okay.
We're gonna get into Bali
around 9:00 p.m.
BERNIE:
My gut tells me
that nobody's gonna be
on this flight with us.
JEFF:
Let's go.
Super pumped.
We're with all the other teams.
We just haven't seen
the girls yet.
-We'll see what happens.
-Yeah.
[exhales sharply]
I'm excited for Bali.
So excited.

-What?!
-[gasps]
This is so wild.
It ain't over till it's over,
girl. We got this.

SCOTT: Let's go!
MIKE: Right there. Go, go, go.
-HAN: Come on.
-MIKE: This way.
LORI: Okay, let's go.
-NICK: Let's go, let's go.
-JEFF: Let's do it. Let's do it.
HAN:
Get in, get in, get in, get in.
ERIKA:
Hi.
-Oh, my God.
-MARK: Babe, come on, come on,
come on, come on.
SCOTT:
Yeah.
Currently, we're in first place.
Pura Puseh Bali Aga Bayad.
-DRIVER: Bali Aga Bayad?
-ERIKA: Yes.
MELINDA:
Fast, fast, fast.
ANA:
Phil spoke about
the Driver's Seat.
Yeah, we just want to be ready,
just in case that Driver's Seat
is up there somewhere.
Hopefully our guy
knows a shortcut.
-[horn honks]
-MARK: Ooh, it is hot
-in Bali already.
It is at night.
-It's hot.
MARK:
But it feels good.
You can, like,
-taste and smell
the moisture in the air.
-The moisture.
-Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-It's nice.
Right, to the right,
to the right,
to the right, to the right.
We're doing it.
JONATHAN:
Thank you, Anthony.
ANA:
Okay, let's go.
Oh, my gosh.
-JONATHAN: "Your clue will
arrive with the rising sun."
-ANA: Oh, my God!
[laughs]
You're joking.
Oh, my gosh.
Go, Nick. I see the thing.
LORI:
Here we go, baby. Here we go.
MIKE: Two.
Let's go.
-Ah. Three.
-Okay. Nice.
-Good job.
-Okay.
Team number four.
JOSIAH: Yeah, baby, baby.
Five.
Six. All right.
Seven.
Eight.
JACK:
Our guy was really slow.
I'm confident we can do
whatever comes our way.
JACK:
Yeah, I think
tomorrow's a new day.
We still are in front
of Carrigain and Bernie.
-CARSON: Mm-hmm.
-JACK: I'm a little nervous,
but I think
we can get back to the front.
[groaning]
Tenth place. [chuckles]
-Ooh, there's the guy.
-[excited chatter]
ERIKA:
So excited now.
"Welcome to the jungle."
"Race an ATV through the mud."
-"Then drive
through a long cave"
-"leading to a waterfall"
-"where you will
find your next clue." [laughs]
-Let's freaking go!
CARSON:
Oh, my God.
-I'm so pumped.
-I know.
This is gonna be awesome.
JEFF:
We're doing something exciting.
Yes!
MARK:
We drew number seven.
We're in seventh right now,
which is lower
than we were
when we started the leg.
I feel like we've
been so focused on, like,
placings that today we just
want to focus on having fun.
JONATHAN:
Oh, my gosh.
Let's get dirty.
-This is gonna
be awesome, honey.
-It's gonna be epic.
I'm so excited.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't wait to take this thing.
Let's do this.
[air horn sounds]
ERIKA: Your parking brake's on,
I think.
-Yeah. Got you.
-Thank you. [laughs]
[Ana laughing]
Yeah, baby. Let's go. Oh!
Let's go. Bali, baby.
[whoops]
This thing can move, baby.
-[Ana whoops]
-JONATHAN: Yeah!
-[whoops]
-[laughs]
I'm ATV!
[both whooping]
MIKE: All right, go, go, go.
HOLDEN: Get it, boys.
-SCOTT: Let's go, Nick.
-Here we go.
Wow.
Yo, do you see this?
Welcome to the jungle!
I think the ATV was the coolest
thing we've ever done.
-Oh, my God!
-Yeah.
Period.
End of story.
Little different
than Brooklyn, huh?
LORI:
Here we go, baby.
Here we go. [whoops]
Yeah!
Wow.
Look at this.
SCOTT:
We're in the jungle!
[both whooping]
HOLDEN:
Look at that, dude.
This is so sick.
We're on The Amazing Race!
HAN:
This is so awesome.
JOSIAH:
We're going into the jungle.
-We're going to a waterfall.
-There's no address.
There's no addresses
in the jungle.
I grew up on a small island
off the coast of Honduras
called Guanaja.
That's how we get around,
is on an ATV,
and it's through the jungle.
It's not built up at all.
Insane. There's no place
in the world like this.
I'm convinced.
This is my jam.
This is what I am used to.
And it's not that it's easy,
it's just that
it's comfortable
because I've been there before.
My brothers and, like,
half my family
still live out there.
It's a big part of my soul.
I cannot believe
this is real life.
POPS: Right. Right.
Slow down. Slow down.
Use your brakes.
JEFF:
See some trees
you want to climb?
We in the jungle for real.
Right here. Slow down.
Just-just don't want to slide
and you can't stop it.
JEFF:
I don't think my mama
would even
tell me
to slow down as many times
-as you're telling me
to slow down.
-[laughs]
JONATHAN:
Amazing Race,baby!
I love it!
-Oh!
-Oh!
Whoa!
-Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
-Oh, my God.
-What is this?
-What? This is so cool.
-Oh!
-Careful. Don't crash.
I know, I know, I know, I know.
Chill, chill, chill.
-Let's get it!
-[Ana screams]
JONATHAN:
One of the big reasons
why I want
to be on the race
is because it lets me
live out my fantasy
of being Indiana Jones, right?
-I'm kind of a nerd, and I-I
kind of stay indoors, mostly.
-[mouthing]
JONATHAN:
So I've had this desire
to go outside and explore.
And, of course,
we're going for that treasure,
that million-dollar prize, so,
we're coming for you.
Baby, oh, my God.
-That was incredible.
-Ah! [gasps]
JONATHAN:
Let's go! This is sick!
ANA:
Got it.
I am soaking wet!
Hang on. You hold that.
Hold it. You got it?
ANA:
Ooh!
-Wow! Come on!
-[whoops]
MARK:
Look at this beautiful view.
-I mean
-Where are we?
How can you get it better?
You almost forget
you're racing for a second.
NICK:
Go!
You see this?
Pull it. Let's go.
And we're off.
[whoops]
I am shocked that
we are getting along so well.
I didn't anticipate this,
to be completely honest,
coming on the race.
Like, I think we really thought
we were gonna bicker more.
MELINDA:
If we don't work together,
we're not gonna make it.
This is the best thing ever.
-Okay, stop right here.
-Go, go.
Nice. Hop on.
You got it. Yeah! Let's go!
-LORI: Go, baby, go!
-[whoops]
[both whooping]
CARSON:
Wow.
In some ways, we could
be riding on a dragon right now.
-True. Or a broomstick.
-[laughs]
It was really We were
living our Mario Kartfantasy.
JACK:
Oh, my God.
-Oh. Oh.
-Whoa.
-Oh.
-Yeah.
Oh. [laughs]
HAN:
Oh, this is so
-friggin' cool.
-This is this is incredible.
This is so cool
-Go, go, go, forward.
-All right, parking, parking.
-Go, go, go.
-Ah!
All right. Go.
[both whooping]
CARRIGAIN:
Good job, girl. [whoops]
BERNIE:
I'm an adrenaline junkie.
I'm a little bit more fearless
when it comes to driving,
so I'm not gonna be scared
to make this ATV go.
[whoops]
-JOSIAH: Aw, yeah!
-[Alyssa whoops]
-[whoops]
-[screams, laughs]
Wait, we have to get our clue.
JOSIAH:
Yeah. Up there. Go.
-This is incredible.
-This is cool.
[both whooping]
[laughs]
Let's go!
[both whoop]
-Yeah! That was so cool.
-Come on, baby.
-Put the brakes on.
Put the brakes on.
-Hop off.
And, okay,
here we go, everybody.
Route Info.
JONATHAN: "Travel by taxi
to the rice fields
"of Tampaksiring
to find your next clue.
Heads up. Driver's Seat ahead."
Let's go.
JONATHAN:
Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.
-ANA: Fast, fast
-JONATHAN: Hi.
We need to get to Tampaksiring,
the rice fields.
JEFF:
Go get it. Let's go.
Okay, go ahead. Let's go.
-Pull it, pull it. Push.
-Oh, yeah.
MIKE:
Oh, let's go. We got it.
NICK: Let's go. Let's move.
All right, go.
[Mark whoops]
Yeah!
BRETT:
Yeah!
[exclaims]
Clue secured.
Right here in front.
Right here in front.
Take it off. Go.
Take it off.
Park it and go, dude.
-Okay, let's go.
-Let's go.
Open the trunk!
[exhales sharply] Very fast.
[reading in Indonesian]
MELINDA:
This is crazy.
[whoops]
Let's go!
HAN:
That was amazing.
Okay, let's go.
Today, you're our taxi
for the rest of the day.
Whatever you do, Ima,
nobody gets in front of you.
-CARSON: [whoops] Hey, get it!
-JACK: Oh, my God!
Get it, get it, get it!
Yank it. Yep.
Let's go.
[whoops]
-You got your fanny pack.
-Let's go.
-I have my bag. Let's do it.
-Let's go.
[panting]: Thank you.
-Hi.
-JOSIAH: Good morning.
You know we're in a race, right?
We got to go as fast as we can.
BERNIE:
Pull it.
Run back, run back!
You're awesome!
[laughs]
All right, all right, all right.
-JEFF: Let's go.
-Let's go.
Let's go. We're in a race.
Baby, come on, come on, come on.
[whoops]
All right, let's go.
-I can jog a little bit.
-Okay.
Cepat, cepat!In a race.
[both vocalizing]
CARSON: We got it.
Okay.
-Okay. Let's go.
-Okay.
CARSON:
We're in a race
for a million dollars.
BOTH:
Let's go.
-CARRIGAIN: Fast and safe.
-Need to catch up.
We are in last place right now.
-JONATHAN: This is the marker.
-ANA: Okay. Fast, fast, fast.
Okay.
JONATHAN:
Roadblock.
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-Okay.
-You got it?
I'll do it.
Rice has been harvested
here in Indonesia
for thousands of years.
This old-fashioned method
of threshing by hand--
which removes the rice grains
from the husks--
is still used by farmers today.
The best can harvest
hundreds of pounds every day.
This Roadblock requires teams
to thresh either 15,
20 or 25 pounds of rice.
It all depends
on who's in the Driver's Seat.
One team can use this power to
decide if they want to be nice
or force another team
to make more rice.
It's time to find out
who's friends with who.
Do we go that way?
JONATHAN:
Yeah.
Have you ever threshed rice?
ANA:
No.
JONATHAN:
Very time-consuming.
Oh, my God.
ANA:
Wow.
JONATHAN:
Oh, my God.
This is so freaking cool.
[gasps]
Oh, my God.
-[grunts]
-Oh, no way.
No way.
-Driver's Seat. Wow.
We're in the Driver's Seat.
-Oh, man.
-We made it.
-All right, baby.
What are we doing?

JONATHAN:
Wow.
We're in the Driver's Seat.
-We made it.
-ANA: All right, baby.
What are we doing?
Okay, uh
-ANA: Who's right behind us? 25,
-Hold on. 25. We have 25,
-20 and 15.
-15 and 20.
The rule for the Driver's Seat
is you have to
assign the different
workloads to different teams.
-We're giving the three teams
who are behind us the most.
-Okay. Dead last.
JONATHAN:
Who's behind Scott and Lori?
These guys can handle 25.
We just wanted a cushion between
-ANA: Yeah, yeah.
-us and the next three teams.
ANA: Which are Scott and Lori,
Mike and Nick
and Alyssa and Josiah.
Why do I have an extra one?
That's us.
-I don't know. That's us?
-No, no, wait.
As I'm moving the tiles,
I realized
that I didn't actually
assign any weight to us.
-Oh, we have to do it.
-Fifteen, 15, 15.
-Fifteen on us. Okay.
-Yeah, we got to do it.
Of course I'm gonna give myself
the least amount of weight.
And in the midst of that,
we gave Bernie and Carrigain
more weight than
we had planned to.
-Okay. Okay.
-I'm happy with that.
-This is worse than the U-Turn.
-It's worse.
Because you're not
just picking a team
JONATHAN:
It's worse.
It's ten times worse.
And you're
pissing multiple people off.
-[laughs] Yeah.
-So I don't feel good
about that, you know?
That's it. I want to see it.
I want to see it.
Can you show me?
So the Roadblock required me to
thresh rice, separate it,
collect it in two bags
and then weigh it.
JONATHAN:
Oh, my God. We need
15 pounds of this stuff.
ANA:
This is going
to take forever.
JONATHAN:
Do you want to use
the Express Pass?
ANA:
Do you want to use the Express
Pass? It's up to you.
-JONATHAN: We need 15 pounds.
-Let's use the Express Pass.
-It's time-consuming.
-Let's bounce. Let's bounce.
-We're gonna use the Express
Pass to skip the challenge.
-Yes. Yes.
-Terima kasih.
-Yes.
-Thank you.
-Let's look at our clue.
-Okay. Route Info.
-Route Info.
This is Penglipuran Village.
Known for its unique
architecture and culture,
it's been preserved like this
since the 18th century.
Locals here take great pride
in maintaining this community,
which has earned a reputation
for being
the cleanest village in Bali.
This is where teams
will find their next clue.
We're going.
Come on, babe.
-Roadblock.
-Okay.
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-I can. Me, me, me.
-That's you, babe.
NICK:
Let's go, Mike.
MIKE:
Let's go, let's go.
-Where do I go? Down here?
-Excuse me.
SCOTT:
Marked path.
Do you see a marked path?
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
Uh, yeah, I'll do it.
SCOTT:
Stay with me, babe.
Oh, is that the blue,
is that a blue taxi up there?
-Maybe.
-Yes, yes, yes.
Oh, yes, Abdul.
Abdul, yes.
JACK:
I feel, like, tingly all over.
This is crazy.
Oh, there's another car.
That's, um That's, um
-Pops and Jeff.
-Pops and Jeff.
Oh, my gosh.
We are making ground.
[horn honks]
JEFF:
Let's go.
You can't let 'em pass us, man.
Weave through these motorcycles.
Come on, Made. Let's do this.
-CARSON: Yeah! Yes!
-[Jeff whoops]
-CARSON: Yes, Abdul!
-Abdul!
-That is are guy.
-Oh, my God.
POPS:
Who was in there? Do you know?
Carson and Jack.
They the only ones
get lucky like that.
-Okay.
-Oh!
Lori, we have 25 pounds.
NICK:
Mike, we got 25 pounds.
LORI:
They gave us the most?
-SCOTT: Yeah, yep.
-Wow.
SCOTT:
So we did get
to the Driver's Seat second,
just in time to see
that Jonathan and Ana
had already finished
assigning challenges,
but didn't do the challenge.
They were out of there
using their Express Pass.
We knew we didn't leave
far behind them from the ATV.
There was no way
they could have done
-any of the rice challenge
at all.
-LORI: Right.
-SCOTT: You got this, babe.
You got this.
-MIKE: Take it easy, Nick.
Jonathan and Ana
had assigned themselves 15.
They assigned the second 15
to Erika and Melinda,
which was fine,
'cause they were girls.
But then the 20s
went to Mark and Brett,
Jack and Carson
-and Han and Holden.
-LORI: Han and Holden.
SCOTT: The rest of us five
were all assigned 25 pounds.
NICK:
All right, we got this together.
We got to do
-the same thing. 25 pounds.
-All right.
I got assigned the highest,
which I'm honestly
quite surprised.
-NICK: Same.
-LORI: I thought we were
pretty close with them.
I don't mind
being assigned the highest,
but it's because it's from them,
I'm kind of pissed.
Game on.
I am taking out
all my aggression
right here.
MARK:
This looks like the wrong way.
Oh. [gasps] Is this not it?
-BRETT: Here. Put this back
-Here. Can we see your phone?
Yeah.
This doesn't make any sense.
I thought you put in this place.
-I did.
-Did you put in the parking
No, he typed in something else.
I put in "Gabah Ayu,"
and he changed--
It's ten minutes.
It's ten kilometers away.
[gasps]
It's 43 minutes away.
He went the wrong--
I typed in the right one
and he clicked a different one.
Oh, my God. We have to go.
He typed in a different--
-Damn.
-Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
[groans]

-Uh, we have, uh
-This one. This one.
He typ-- I typed in the right
thing, and then he
-You're sure
that's the right one?
-Yes. Gabah Ayu.
Yeah, you went
to the wrong place.
[sighs]: Oh, my God.
We have to go
as fast as possible,
'cause we are now 43 minutes
in the wrong direction.
ALYSSA:
Oh, there's the clue box.
JOSIAH:
Thank you so much.
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-I'll do it. Okay? Yeah?
-Okay. You got it, babe.
-CARSON: Hey.
What's it looking like?
-Hi, guys.
I have no idea.
Roadblock.
-I've done two already.
-I can do it.
-I'll do it.
-It means physical, so, yeah.
-Okay, uh I'll do it.
-You've done less, but
-You'll do it? You got it?
-Yep. Yep.
ALYSSA:
Okay, let's go.
JOSIAH:
Go. Sprint.
Roadblock.
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-I'm gonna do it.
-Okay. Okay.
CARSON:
Come on, Jack.
We got this. Come on.
HOLDEN:
All right, this is
where we wanted to be.
-We're in the front.
-HAN: Yes, we got it, Holden.
HOLDEN:
We're with the fast teams.
Let's go.
Okay. We have 25 pounds.
Thank you, Jonathan and Ana.
But I wasn't discouraged
about it at all.
Going into it, I thought
that they were gonna give us
the highest amount,
so I was just like,
"Bring it on.
Let's do it."
Okay. I'm choosing a station.
Twenty pounds.
Okay, good, good.
JACK:
It was
nearly best-case scenario.
Okay, 20 pounds, Holden.
Perfect.
Let's go, BaoHan.
Yep. 25 pounds.
The most possible.
-POPS: Yeah.
-All right.
Jonathan and Ana gave me
25 pounds.
It didn't upset me.
I love to compete.
This ain't a workstation.
HOLDEN:
Jonathan and Ana
are done already?
-They used the Express Pass.
-Oh, gotcha.
They did
the Driver's Seat immediately,
-and then walked out
and read their clue.
-Really?
-Wow.
-I don't know why they'd take
a light slot unless they were
trying to keep from being able
-to assign that light
to someone else
-So anyone else could get it.
Yeah, that's exactly why.
I think I've got
the technique down.
JOSIAH:
Yeah, Alyssa!
Kind of bang it
against the wood.
Rotate.
Been ready for something
where I can work my ass off
this whole time.
Jonathan and Ana
gave us the most
amount of rice to get.
Twenty-five pounds.
I know I can do it.
I ain't scared of no work.
ANA: In retrospect,
if we had thought we were
gonna use the Express Pass,
I probably
would have given another
weaker team the 15 pounds
that we gave ourselves.
-Yeah, something like that.
-I had no idea
what that entailed.
A physical team
can easily pass you up
-on a task like that.
-Yeah.
Hopefully we didn't waste it.
That is the worst mistake
you can make--
wasting an Express Pass.
HAN:
I feel like this
is the stuff
my parents had to deal with
when they were immigrants.
So they're probably really proud
watching us right now.
Our mom came from
a rice-farming family,
and they came to America
and they worked really hard
so that we could,
like, get an education
and not be in the position
where we had to be rice farmers.
HOLDEN:
They've made so many sacrifices
for us to do things like this.
Like, all we can do
is make them proud.
Hey, you got this, BaoHan.
You're doing so good.
LORI:
Oh, gosh. I'm spilling
everywhere. Gosh dang it.
I'm just gonna see what it is.
SCOTT:
How we doing, babe? Yeah.
Go get that weight.
Let's see where we're at.
Oh, I know, but how much more?
Do you know? No. Okay.
[exhales sharply]
Almost?
I think we need about
a little less than half more
than what we have right now.
Rice. It might be
cooking or something.
-You can do this. Okay.
-We'll try it. We'll try it.
My mom's gonna do it.
-Mom, this is perfect for you.
-MELINDA: Perfect.
ERIKA:
Look at this.
This is so cool.
All right, Mom.
-Erika
-Fifteen pounds, right here.
That's not bad.
That's great.
MELINDA:
Where's a workstation?
You're not using this pile,
are you?
-ALYSSA: This is my dead stuff.
-Oh, crap.
-Where's my good stuff?
-ALYSSA: In the middle, Melinda.
In the middle.
Oh, I got to go get it.
ERIKA:
Did they already leave?
-Yeah.
They used their Express Pass.
-Yeah.
-They used the Express Pass.
Yes.
-No way.
CARSON:
Well, they took
15 for themselves.
-And they didn't--
And used the Express Pass.
-And still didn't use it?
SCOTT:
Burning a 15 does not help
anybody but them.
This does not compare
to anything
I've ever done before.
It's exhausting.
SCOTT:
Forty-nine years old.
Show these boys
what a mama is all about.
[laughs]
ERIKA:
Scott and Lori
are taking second here,
time after time.
And teams are like, "Really?
Feels like you're trying
to downplay your own speed."
If you overplay that card,
people are gonna be like,
"Oh, they're lying
about something."
SCOTT:
Nice job.
You got this, sweetheart!
Let's see it!
[chanting]:
Twenty-five! 25!
-That's it. That's it.
-Yes.
-Yes.
-That's good. Attagirl!
-Let's go!
-SCOTT: Attagirl! Let's go!
-Thank you, thank you,
-thank you, thank you
-SCOTT: Let's go! Let's go!
Let's go.
"Make your way by taxi
to Penglipuran Village
to find your next clue."
-You rocked it, babe.
-Let's go.
MIKE:
You got it, Nick.
There it is.
No.
MIKE:
Almost there, bro.
You're right there.
"Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-I'll do it.
-Okay.
Let's go.
JOSIAH:
Yeah, Alyssa.
Yeah, babe.
-Beat it up, Jeff.
Let's go, let's go.
-Let's go, BaoHan.
-Hey, let's go, BaoHan.
-[clapping]
Twenty-five pounds, Carrigain.
Twenty-five pounds.
You got this, Carrigain.
Yeah, girl.
Get all that anger out.
CARRIGAIN:
I don't know exactly
what was in their head.
It could be either,
A, this team is already behind,
let's already get 'em out
while they're out,
or B, this team is a threat,
they're already behind,
let's kick 'em
while they're down.
I'm shook that they gave us 25.
Either way, like,
I wasn't happy about it,
by any means.
BERNIE:
Jonathan and Ana have
a big-ass target on their back.
Like, okay, claws are out.
Claws are out.
LORI:
I am legit shocked that
they gave us the heavy weight.
They're bad,
because I killed that.
-I beat Nick.
-All of the guys.
-All of the people.
-[scoffs]
Thank you.
Detour. Penjor or Pajegan?
KEOGHAN:
Despite modernization,
Indonesians use
their long-standing traditions
as a bridge to connect
the past with the present.
This cultural pride
is seen everywhere,
every day.
This Detour requires teams
to decorate a penjor--
a long bamboo pole
adorned with leaves, flowers
and offerings to show gratitude
for all things on Earth.
When a local expert
says their penjor is complete
-Yes.
-Yes.
KEOGHAN:
they must carry this
elaborate decoration to a stand
where it will go on display.
Balinese Hindu worshipers
honor the divine
with the pajegan.
Built in the shape
of the mountain,
it reaches towards the creator.
Referencing a finished example
and relying
only on their memory,
teams must purchase
offerings in the village
and build one.
-Good job.
-KEOGHAN: Once complete,
they must balance it
on their head,
walk it to this temple
and offer it to the gods.
-I'm gonna say Penjor.
-Okay.
Yeah, hurry.
Down, down, down.
I have to
go to the bathroom so bad.
ANA:
Sorry, baby.
Got to hold it a little longer.
-Wow, look at this.
-So this is a penjor.
ANA:
This one's closest.
-JONATHAN: Oh,
this is the finished example.
-Perfect.
I have to go to the bathroom.
Oh, my God.
I'm gonna have
to go to the bathroom.
ANA:
Okay, so let's go, baby.
-Take a look.
-Okay, so let's take a look.
This thing
ANA:
So we just feed it in?
-Hold on. Take a look.
-Okay.
It was scary at first,
because you look at it,
-and it had so many components.
And so
-ANA: So many.
JONATHAN:
I kind of freaked out.
And my first reaction was like,
"Oh, my God."
-There's just so much.
-ANA: Which one do you do first?
JONATHAN:
So many things
you have to put on this thing.
Show me the other side.
Okay.
Yeah, that's it.
Once we just broke it down
step-by-step, and then
we started putting pieces
together little by little,
we got the hang of it.
Babe, why did
you put it on so sloppily?
I'm not done yet.
Can you relax?
[sighs]
I got to go to the bathroom.
ANA:
Are you kidding right now?
I have to go
to the bathroom so bad.
ANA:
Oh, my gosh.
This man. We're, like,
five minutes in, and he's like,
"I really got to pee
I really got to pee."
And I'm just like,
"You're worse than me."
-JONATHAN: I got to go
to the bathroom.
-Oh, my gosh.
-'Cause I'll-I'll
be more efficient
-Oh, my gosh.
-Okay, fine.
-if I could use the restroom.
Okay. Can you ask?
[Jonathan groans]
Uh, restroom?
I wasn't able to function
-uh, for that first, uh,
part of the Detour.
-[laughs]
And I realized,
if I didn't go to the bathroom,
it could go really south.
ANA:
Do you feel
so much better now, babe?
-Yeah.
-Okay, good.
Let's knock this out.
SCOTT:
There's the marker.
LORI:
Thank you.
Oh, my gosh.
Look how beautiful this is.
Okay. "Penjor or Pajegan?"
-I say Penjor.
-Okay.
-Let's do the first one.
-Penjor.
-Penjor is that way.
-Penjor. Yeah.
LORI:
Yep. That way,
that way, that way.
SCOTT:
Doing awesome, babe.
-Go around
and through those gates.
-Yep.
Big steps. Big steps.
LORI:
Okay, that one right in front.
-JONATHAN: Who's here?
Scott and Lori?
-Lori. Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
Scott and Lori showed up.
Scott and Lori are a great team.
-They are fast.
-JONATHAN: They are great. Yeah.
ANA:
I mean, Lori had eight babies.
She's Superwoman.
LORI:
Let's go check it out.
JONATHAN:
They're good with
attention to detail tasks,
so we really need to get it done
as fast as possible.
But in the back of my mind,
I'm thinking
"they're gonna catch us."
If that's the issue,
we blew the Express Pass.

SCOTT: So
looks like towards the bottom
is more of the headpiece
kind of a thing.
-Hello.
-Hi, guys.
Then we've got
the hairs hanging down.
-Next, next, next. Let's go.
-Yeah.
-Stop looking.
-Yeah, okay. Got it.
LORI:
Okay, let's go.
I think I'm gonna
treat Jonathan and Ana
a lot like I do my kids
when they've done something
wrong that I don't like.
I just ignore them.
And my kids realize, "Oh,
-I disappointed Dad."
-LORI: "We have
messed up." Yeah.
Wait, wait, wait.
No, backwards.
It's backwards.
Take it off. Take it off.
Okay, honey,
I need you to pay attention
on the small details, okay?
If we would have gone farther,
that would have been terrible.
Yep.
BERNIE:
There you go.
I see that rice coming, girl.
This is all you, baby.
JOSIAH:
Awesome, babe.
You're doing awesome.
CARSON:
That rice did something
-horrible to you.
-[Jack laughs]
POPS:
Come on, Jeff. We got this.
We got this.
ERIKA:
You're doing great, Mom.
You're doing great.
You're doing so good, Mom.
[Jack groans]
MIKE:
Nick, you're crushing it, bro.
You're crushing it.
Just take your time with it.
Just take your time.
It's got to be 25.
You got it, bro. You got it.
Come on, give it to me.
-MAN: Yes!
-NICK: Yes!
-MIKE: Yeah, Nick! Let's go!
-Oh, yes.
-Thank you.
BOTH:
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you. Let's go, baby!
MIKE: Bro, I'm so proud of you.
NICK: I got rice in my eyes.
HOLDEN:
Here we go, BaoHan.
Keep fighting, keep fighting.
MAN:
Yes!
-Thank you. Terima kasih.
-Here we go! Let's go!
You did so good, BaoHan.
So good. [whooping]
Roadblock. "Who thinks they can
rice to the occasion?"
-Me.
-Okay.
MARK:
Come on, let's go.
Come on, babe.
We got to make up some time.
-I'm gonna check again.
-JOSIAH: Yeah, baby.
-It's all good.
-ALYSSA: Check?
JOSIAH:
You got it, babe.
-Yes! Yes.
-JOSIAH: Yes, babe!
-Yes, Alyssa!
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
-JOSIAH: Wonder Woman!
-Thank you.
Alyssa, you're amazing, Alyssa.
-Hi, guys. Ooh!
-Oh.
-You okay, Alyssa?
You guys got it.
-Yeah.
-Go ahead, go ahead.
-Come on.
You are the toughest woman
to ever run this race.
ALYSSA:
Let's go, babe.
Twenty pounds.
Okay. We have
to get a workstation.
We have been killing
the challenges.
Unfortunately,
no one's been there to see it.
-BRETT: Fortunately.
-MARK: Fortunately.
-Actually, fortunately.
-Yeah, fortunately.
Because the top teams--
I don't think they understand
how good we are
at these challenges.
BRETT:
Yeah, babe, you got this.
MARK:
We only got 20 pounds.
And so that actually
was helpful for us
in the Driver's Seat because
I don't think they thought
that we were a team
that needed to be targeted.
Fill it up, babe, fill it up.
BERNIE:
They just got here, okay?
Doing great, Carrigain.
-Please.
-CARSON: You got this.
You're amazing.
-No.
-No. Close.
-Very close.
-MELINDA: Where's the weight?
Where's the weight?
Where's the scale? Oh, here.
How close am I?
How much? I need 15. Oh.
CARSON:
Come on, Jack. You got this!
Come on, Jack! [whooping]
-MAN: Yes.
-CARSON: Yes!
-Yes!
-Hey, nice job, you guys.
Nice job.
Thank you so much.
-CARSON: All right, let's do it.
-JACK: Okay.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
[mutters]
NICK:
Mike, let's go. We got to move.
-I see-I see a clue box.
I see a clue box.
-Okay, go, go.
I see it.
Mike, let's follow 'em.
HOLDEN:
Dude, look at this.
HAN:
Ah!
Breathe. You're okay.
Let's go.
Detour.
-Penjor or Pajegan?
-We're gonna do Pajegan.
I feel like the Pajegan
is gonna be easier.
-All right. Pajegan is this way.
-You guys are doing Pajegan?
-Yeah. You going?
-HAN: All right.
-HAN: It's says Pajegan
right here.
-MIKE: Okay, let's go.
-MIKE: I feel like
this is the simpler one.
-HAN: Hopefully.
-HAN: Let's go, guys!
-HOLDEN: Oh, wait.
-Guys, there's a sign.
-MIKE:
Okay, we'll take this one.
[panting]
HOLDEN:
"Assemble two Balinese offerings
called pajegans."
NICK:
"There's a finished example
of the proper way."
HOLDEN:
Then carry them
the traditional way
"and deliver them both
"to the Pura Ratupinga temple
to receive a clue
from the locals."
We get to the workstations
with all the offerings,
and there's these two examples
of offerings on this table.
And each one of the offerings
had different fruits
and other items, like flowers.
So basically, what you had
to do was count the number
of items so that you can
go shopping for them
and have the exact items
to bring back,
and then you just assemble them
once you do get back
after shopping.
-Eight oranges.
-Yes.
-Four apples.
-Let's do
There were eight oranges
-MIKE: Eight oranges. Okay.
-HOLDEN: who met four apples.
MIKE:
Eight oranges met four apples.
They ran into two snakes
who asked for
-a bushel of bananas. Yeah.
-Bananas.
HOLDEN:
We came up with a story
of eight oranges
and four bananas met two snakes.
-HAN: Do you remember that?
-HOLDEN: Yes.
We had to just
observe the sample
and just make sure that
we had everything right.
-And nine mangosteens.
-Okay.
From that, they poofed out
five muffins
and a-a vine of grapes.
HAN: Mangosteens poofing out
five muffins.
MIKE: And then how many of these
flowers? One, two, three, four,
five, six, seven. Let's go.
You guys got your money, right?
-HAN: Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
-MIKE: Let's go. Let's move.
ALYSSA:
Bali is absolutely amazing.
Oh, there's the clue box.
Thank you, Kamal. We love you.
-Thank you.
-Good to go?
Detour. Penjor or Pajegan?
-Penjor? Penjor.
-Let's do it. Penjor.
ALYSSA:
Well, I don't know which one
we're going to right now.
There's no way
to know where we're going.
-JACK: Yes, perfect right here.
-CARSON: Right here, right here.
JACK:
Thank you so much, Abdul.
You've been the best.
CARSON:
Okay.
All right, here we go.
Ooh!
I got too excited. Okay.
-Whoa.
-Penjor or Pajegan?
-I think Penjor.
-JACK: Okay, you want to do it?
-Let's do Penjor. Let's go.
-Okay. Penjor. Let's go.
-Okay, let's do it next to them.
-Okay.
-JACK: Hi, guys.
-ANA: Hello.
JACK:
I was stunned that
Ana and Jonathan
were still there
after they used
their Express Pass.
Not a great use
of the Express Pass,
in my opinion.
-Hey, guys.
-LORI: Hey, hey.
-SCOTT: Hey.
Good to see you.
-ALYSSA: Hop over?
-Okay.
JACK:
Where's the correct one?
-Over there?
-Yeah, yeah.
Let's take this one.
-Should we go look
at the example?
-Yeah.
Can I rotate this
on the bottom?
There it is.
Okay, we're good. Here.
-Okay, I just need, uh
-What can I do for you?
-String?
-Six inches?
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
I don't think
we started far enough forward.
That's what I'm afraid of.
Maybe we can tweak
a little them forward.
SCOTT:
Wow, this is long.
LORI:
This penjor--
I mean, it's beautiful
and, like,
I've never
seen anything like it.
But the assembly--
it was very intricate of
making sure everything
is tied on correctly.
Then they had
this horse hair, but then
you couldn't be too low.
It was very Yeah.
Very strategic, very detailed.
-Okay, that's good.
-Perfect.
SCOTT:
You are the best partner ever.
Thanks, baby.
[blowing]
I don't know if I'm close.
I don't know if I'm far.
I just know I'm not done yet.
Come on, Jeff.
Stop saying, "Come on, Jeff."
BERNIE:
Good job, Carrigain!
Trying to measure this
to see how close it is.
I was like, "Let me weigh it
so I can just get a feel
for where I'm at."
BRETT:
Good job, babe. Yeah!
-No.
-No? All right.
And the first time
I ran over there, the mud
just ate my shoe.
So I did the whole rest
of the challenge without a shoe.
RIP shoe.
What matters is
getting through this challenge.
BRETT:
Come on, babe, you got this.
Keep going.
We're gonna try again.
I'm gonna try.
Careful with your knees
and on the ground.
I just don't want you to fall.
MELINDA:
I got to be close.
Please, please, please, please.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
-Yes.
-[whooping]
ERIKA:
Yes! Let's do it, Mom!
You killed it!
Aah! Oh, my gosh!
-Thank you. Thank you.
-ERIKA: Hey, nice job, Mom!
Great job, Mom.
You killed your first Roadblock.
MELINDA:
[whoops] Let's go, Erika.
[panting]
POPS:
Come on. You love rice.
Let's go.
BERNIE:
It's all right, Carrigain.
Stay focused.
Doing great, girl.
POPS:
All right, all right!
-Yes.
-Yes!
All right, all right.
-Yes. Yes. Yes.
-Yes. Yes. Let's go!
All right, all right.
Thank you.
All right, let's go, let's go.
Killing it, girl,
you're killing it.
BRETT:
Come on, babe. You got this.
Get all those rice thingies.
BERNIE:
Good job, Carrigain!
[grunting]
BRETT:
All right, babe, you got this.
Yeah, babe.
Come on. Get those rice.
-Yes.
-MARK: Yes!
-Yes. Thank you. Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
Thank you. Terima kasih.
-Stay focused.
-Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih.
BRETT:
Okay. You rocked that, babe.
Hell yeah.
CARRIGAIN:
Everybody left,
and so it was just me,
which was disheartening, and
I just
I felt like we were done.
We don't know what the Detour
is gonna be like.
We're still
right on their tail, so
BERNIE:
Stay present. Yup, stay present.
You know?
BERNIE:
This is it, right here.
This is it, right here.
Better be 25 pounds.
-Yes.
-BERNIE: Yes!
-Thanks. Yes.
-Thank you.
-Good job, Carrigain!
Thank you. Thank you.
"Make your way to taxi
to Penglipuran Village
to find your next clue."
Let's go.
LORI:
Big flower's out.
No, it's not. It's fine.
LORI: Scott, it's on the ground
right there.
I'll get that when we get to it.
LORI:
Okay. Touch.
SCOTT:
Oh, it came out. That sucks.
-I told you
to hold onto that piece, honey.
-I know.
Sounds like trouble in paradise
for Mom and Dad.
I feel like we need to start big
and work small, Scott.
I just want
to get something here
holding this in place
so we can take a break
and do other stuff
without this falling apart.
Everyone who--
even who are the most in love--
in this whole race,
there's not love
without a passion,
and they are passionate.
For right now,
get the front and the back
-so we can get it laid out.
-But I'm saying not both. Look.
Good and bad, it sounds like.
Remember,
we got to deliver this,
so make sure everything's
as secure as you can.
Let's get a check.
I feel like this is really good.
-Let's get a check, babe.
-ANA: Let's go.
Check. Can we get a check?
JONATHAN:
Looks good.
ANA:
What do they say?
-No.
-Okay. Okay.
Oh, my gosh. What the hell
is wrong with this thing?
There's so many components
to the Penjor,
some items that go in
before you can
put anything else in,
so if one
of those items is wrong
-we are done.
-I know. We're toast.
Let's start from the back, okay?
Or do you want
to start from the front?
ERIKA: I think Bali has been
my favorite because we got
to do something fun,
and I got to see my mom
crush a Roadblock.
POPS: Right now,
I'm a proud dad.
JEFF: Right now?
What about all the time?
I mean, all the time,
I'm a proud dad.
JEFF:
There's no resentment
towards Jonathan and Ana
on a personal level.
-I understand the strategy.
-Well
But we want revenge
and we're gonna get it.
MARK: Today we decided
that we weren't
going to make
our whole experience
Whatever the setback is,
we're gonna make our experience
whatever we make it to be.
And that's what
we're doing right now.
Ooh, can we get in front
of them? Can you scoot
-in front of them?
-[man mumbles]
MARK:
You never know. You got to ask.
JONATHAN:
Let's make sure
we have it, like,
-in the proper order.
-ANA: Babe,
this needs to be attached
to the base.
-You know that?
-Oh, I thought it was.
ANA:
No, it was It's not.
-Oh.
-ANA: That's probably it.
JONATHAN:
Once we put that in, that tip,
we made it look a little neater.
Can we get a check, please?
-Yes.
-Yes.
-ANA: Oh, thank goodness.
Thank you.
Dang it. They just got it.
Good for them.
They have a 20-minute lead
on us.
-Thank you. It's so beautiful.
-We're gonna rock this thing.
Okay.
"Then carry the penjor
to any marked stand."
Ready? You get the front,
I'll get the back.
-ANA: Okay.
-Go.
JOSIAH:
Let them win this battle
so that we can win the war.
-JONATHAN:
You have the clue, right?
-Yeah.
-Watch your step.
-Wait. Yup.
-Is it between 22
and what was the other one?
-CARSON: Ana and Jonathan
are gone.
-JACK: Yeah.
JONATHAN:
I see a marking.
Follow me, follow me.
This is it.
We need an address, babe.
-ANA: Seventy. Keep going.
-Okay.
JONATHAN:
Oh, I see.
I see what we're doing.
Look for one
that doesn't have one.
-Walking.
-Okay.
Forty-nine, baby.
Almost there.
JONATHAN:
I know, I know.
Forty-one.
ANA:
Oh, it's so beautiful here.
JONATHAN:
Right here. I got it.
-ANA: Quickly.
-Hold still. Hold still.
ANA:
Okay. It's all you, baby.
-JONATHAN: Yeah.
-ANA: Oh!
[both groan]
One small step for man,
one giant leap for mankind.
-Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih banyak.
[Ana sighs]
Route Info. Grab that, babe.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
Teams will find me here
next to this
ancient stone temple.
The last team to check in here
will be eliminated.
ANA:
Come on, baby.
JONATHAN:
Come on. We need
to stretch the lead.
HAN:
What the heck?
HOLDEN: I don't think
it's in here.
-HAN: This is not it.
MIKE: No. We got
to get those apples.
-NICK: These are the apples.
-MIKE: 100%.
MIKE:
All right, let's keep going.
It was pretty hard
to find the items.
NICK:
These weren't, like, stores
in New York City where you walk
into a bodega, and everything is
just right in front of you.
MIKE: It felt like you were
walking through people's houses.
HAN:
Oh, my God. Where is it?
HOLDEN:
Um, I think we're going too far.
Wait. Did you see anything?
I think that's a house, bro.
MIKE:
Yeah, no, we're good.
Nothing here, either.
NICK:
So what are these things?
MIKE:
They're just distractions.
This is so pretty.
Holy crap. This is so cool.
Penjor or Pajegan?
I think it's, like,
maybe one of these things.
-You want to try it?
Okay, Penjor.
-Let's try that.
-MELINDA: Oh,
it's all the way over there.
-Yup.
[Melinda panting]
-MELINDA: Oh, they're all here.
-ERIKA: There's the example.
And we're gonna be good.
Hey, guys.
-ALYSSA: Hey, you.
-ERIKA: Is it pretty doable?
-JOSIAH: Yeah.
Okay.
Thank you. You're amazing.
Come on, babe. Let's go.
JEFF:
This way. Follow them.
Come on, Pops.
Come on, come on, come on.
[panting]
Detour. "Penjor"
-"Penjor or Pajegan?"
-We're gonna do Penjor. Yeah.
-Yeah, you sure? Okay.
Penjor or Pajegan?
-First. Come on. First.
-First.
-Okay.
-BRETT: Okay, pick a spot.
MARK:
Let's go next to the boys.
-Okay.
-Okay.
-JEFF: Come on.
-POPS: This is it?
-JEFF: Let's start looking.
-POPS: Okay.
JEFF:
This got to go on first,
'cause that part,
-we got to finish and tie it on.
-LORI: Check? Check, please.
Check, please.
Oh, please, please,
please, please, please.
Yes! Oh, my gosh.
Thank you, thank you.
Thank you, thank you,
thank you, thank you, thank you.
-Come my way.
-Yup.
Let's do a slow jog.
We're gonna walk over these
steps 'cause they're humongous.
SCOTT:
The village is to our left.
Head to where all that stuff is.
Hello!
Bows, bows, bows.
-SCOTT: Yeah!
-Yay!
Hi!
SCOTT:
We love you guys!
BERNIE:
Yeah, there's the clue box.
CARRIGAIN:
There's the clue. Thank you.
Detour.
Let's do Penjor.
-Yeah, but where are we going?
-Sorry.
"Travel on foot to"
whatever that thing is called.
CARRIGAIN:
Who are we asking?
-Um, go straight.
-Just straight? Thank you.
CARSON:
Check?
I want to see
what they're looking at.
-Yes?
-Yes? Yes.
-Yes?!
-Thank you, thank you,
thank you.
-Oh, my God, awesome.
LORI: Remember, honey.
-I can't read yet.
-LORI: Thirty-two.
-SCOTT: Yeah.
-Right here.
-Put it in the hole.
-LORI: Okay?
-SCOTT: Yeah.
-Ah.
-Thank you.
Here we go, baby.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
LORI: Here we go, baby.
Here we go. Go, go, go, go, go.
CARSON: It's got to be this.
There are stands
and these things all along 'em.
-How far down?
-CARSON: Um
-JACK: It's a bit. It's a bit.
-So, there's
JACK: You'll see it,
and then you'll take a right.
CARSON: There's one right here
to the right.
And then there's
Ours is way down.
-Okay.
-CARSON: Um, but I don't know
-about the other one.
-That's fine.
Thank you.
CARRIGAIN:
Should we take this right turn?
We are sadly still looking
for the Tuga Pahlawan
Penglipuran
I don't know what that is.
CARSON: Oh, wait,
I'm seeing a gap in them up top.
There's one right there
on the left.
Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup.
Ooh, it's heavy.
-JACK: Got it.
-[whoops] Yes.
-Okay.
-Route Info.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
We're headed to the Pit Stop.
HOLDEN:
Yeah, they have oranges.
-MIKE: Good job.
-HOLDEN: All right, let's go.
Get nine mangosteens
times two, so 18.
NICK:
What's-- Those things?
HOLDEN:
Five muffins, four apples,
-and I see bananas.
-Nice.
-HAN: I see flowers there.
HOLDEN:
Check if there's apples.
Let me just take one quick look.
HAN:
Do you think
we're passing it, bro?
HOLDEN:
I see ice cream. I see apples.
-NICK: Let's go.
-HAN: Good job, Holden.
-HOLDEN: As long as they're red.
-NICK: Good stuff.
Just found a coveted red apple.
HAN:
Oh, my God.
I'm never gonna look
at a red apple the same.
HOLDEN:
All right, boys, let's run.
NICK:
Where are we going now?
Silver sign, silver sign.
"Perang ma mama-do."
-ANA: Hi, Phil.
-JONATHAN: Yeah!
-ANA: So good to see you.
-Oh.
Ah.
Welcome to Penglipuran Village,
Bali, Indonesia.
-Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih.
KEOGHAN:
Jonathan and Ana,
I'm pleased to tell you
that once again,
-you are team number one.
-ANA: Ah!
Yeah, baby!
As the first team to arrive,
you have won OneKeyCash
from Expedia
for a trip for two
to Croatia
-and Montenegro.
-[shrieks]
-Oh. Yes!
-Oh, my God.
-Oh, my gosh.
KEOGHAN:
Experts at Expedia designed
a five-night unique experience
with an old-town walking tour
of Dubrovnik,
a boat tour of the Blue Cave
and a day trip
to Kotor, Montenegro.
-Gosh.
-I love it.
It takes a team
to win this race.
-You can't just do it
on your own.
-No.
JONATHAN:
I understand.
I'm not running this race
on my own. I have a teammate,
and, you know,
our success in this race
is gonna be dependent
on how well we can communicate
and work together.
Okay. There should be a twine
coming out
of the top of this. Yeah.
It's another arts and crafts
thing. It's just not
-Attaches to that.
-what we're super comfortable
with.
It's just not our thing.
But this is our thing today.
Mom, can you
tie this there, too?
'Cause these have to connect.
Crap. Let's push that through.
One second.
Coming here, we were like, "Yay!
We're gonna get to the Detour
ahead of teams,"
but we're all here now.
Starting to wonder
if we picked the wrong one.
Yeah, it's definitely
a difficult
-That it might have been
better off with the other one.
-Detour.
-Got it?
-Yeah, I got it.
Pops and I-- we were flowing.
You know,
we'd go up to the example,
see a little bit of it,
go back and recreate it.
Uh-oh.
-You broke it?
-No, it slipped out of my hand.
-Grab that loop. Grab that loop.
-Okay.
Got it?
Next, squeeze. Got it.
There we go. I love that.
Whatever you're doing now,
I love it.
Zen isn't always, like,
nice and calm, whatever.
Like, Zen, I just think
is being in the moment,
and we're, like,
very present and focused.
We're not freaking out,
we're not stressed.
Can you come do cleanup
over here?
Yeah.
There we go.
HOLDEN:
Look at that.
Yeah, all the heads
need to be in the middle.
Put this head
in between the two of 'em.
'Cause look.
-The example, the head splits
the apples in half.
-HAN: Oh.
So do it.
HAN:
You're right.
Okay, you want
to fix this, then?
I don't I don't know how to
fix this without messing it up.
Okay. What do you mean?
I don't know.
You're trying to fix it
for whatever reason.
It's aligned.
Because it has to align
with this. You see that?
No. Five five green muffins
on the left
and green grapes behind it.
HAN:
Make sure the gr
the apples are aligned.
We're gonna lift this
but not the stick.
-HOLDEN: Okay, well, we need
to get the bananas in, too.
-HAN: Okay.
-Let's lift it.
-HOLDEN: You lift.
I got it. Ow. Sorry.
HOLDEN:
Now we need the
the head to also be aligned.
NICK:
Okay.
Okay. Check?
-Yeah! Let's go!
-Yeah! Let's go, baby.
Uh
MIKE:
"Present it
with the common sarong,
-which you must properly wear."
-NICK: Okay.
MIKE:
"Then ask the locals to show you
-the traditional way
to carry it."
-NICK: Thank you.
HAN:
And we'll get a check.
The flowers are wrong.
NICK: Mike, the bottom layer.
Put your hands up.
MIKE: Okay. Whatever.
Okay, where are we going?
NICK:
I would assume that way.
MIKE:
What's the name of it?
-NICK: It's in my bag.
-[Mike scoffs]
-[mutters]
-It's got to be that way, bro.
Okay? It's got to be.
And we'll get a check.
Good job.
-Yes!
-Thank you. Just go.
Go, go, go, go, go.
Oh, my God.
CARSON: Yes! Hey, Phil.
-Ooh!
-Guys, anyone would think
you're super happy here.
-Have a look
at this team behind you here.
-JACK: Yeah!
Yes! [sighs]
-Nice, nice, nice.
Carson and Jack, Scott and Lori,
-we have teams number
two and three.
-[whoops]
-Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
-Oh, my God.
So Jonathan and Ana
get to the Driver's Seat.
They make a decision about who's
gonna harvest how much rice.
-SCOTT: Yup.
-You feel like they made
the right moves today?
I think they made all
the wrong moves today, honestly.
-They did not make
a strategic move.
-I think
if there's a U-Turn coming up,
everyone's burned.
And they used the Express Pass,
which I know
they didn't have to use today.
I think they should have
saved that for tomorrow,
because if there's another twist
tomorrow, we can get 'em.
They might be sorry for it.
So if we're right here,
come back down.
Come all the way back down
to where parking was?
-I don't know if that's right.
-Okay.
I'm looking at a map.
I'm pointing on the map,
"Hey, this is the place.
This is where we need to go."
Then I'm being told,
"No, that's not it."
We have to learn
to work together.
And I did say that I was gonna
voice and be louder,
but I'm not always gonna fight.
BERNIE:
We need to find
the Tugu Pahlawan, Penglipuran.
CARRIGAIN:
I mean, we looked at the map,
and that's where it said it was.
Like, I cannot fight you
every second,
every breath when I'm exhausted.
At some point,
I just want you to trust me.
BERNIE:
Didn't the map say all the way
back to the parking lot?
CARRIGAIN:
Yes, B. That's what
I told you originally.
I want you to hear me.
I shouldn't have
to constantly battle
and fight with you every second.
Like, I don't care if
That's just how I am.
I'm not saying,
suggesting anything,
-I'm just talking out lou--
-I know, but when I'm looking
at a map, I'm like,
"Hey, it's right here." You're
like, "No, that can't be it.
-Let's just do this,
let's just do that,"
-Okay. Okay.
-Okay.
-So, we'll do Let's just
go wherever you want to go.
Do you think
you have what it takes
to win The Amazing Race?
If so, then go to
cbs.com/casting and apply now.
See you at the start line.
BERNIE:
We're such idiots.
Penjor, this way.
CARRIGAIN:
There was a sign.
BERNIE:
What station you want to go to?
-Hey, guys.
-Hi.
BERNIE: We get to Penjor,
we saw Alyssa and Josiah
Erika and Melinda,
Jeff and Pops,
as well as Brett and Mark.
It did give me hope to see that
there were still teams there.
CARRIGAIN:
Bernie and I are really good
with attention to detail,
so, I'm not too worried
about us being able
to complete this.
ALYSSA:
All right. Check?
JOSIAH:
Good job.
-BOTH: Yes.
-JOSIAH: Terima kasih.
-Good? Yes! Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
JOSIAH:
Terima kasih.
Thank you so, so much.
-Good job.
-Good job, you.
JOSIAH:
You guys are rocking it.
-Looks great.
-ERIKA: Yeah. Nice job.
ALYSSA:
We'll see you guys soon.
-MIKE: That thing was heavy.
-NICK: Yeah.
MIKE: My shoulders were burning.
I wanted to put it down so bad.
It's this, Nick, on the left.
-Where?
-This lady.
NICK:
I can't see anything. My head.
MIKE:
Hello.
Ooh!
-That is a workout.
-Hello.
-Oh, my God.
-Hello.
-Oh, thank you so much.
-This is serious
-Oh! Sorry!
-What the
-What the Ah.
-You okay?
Yes. Okay. [laughs]
NICK:
I went down.
Our whole offering
just fell apart.
-HAN: Go, go, go.
-MIKE: Let's go quick.
I'll hand you the things.
You ready?
-Yeah.
-HOLDEN: Dude, look at this.
HAN:
Ah!
Oh, I see them.
All right, Holden.
HOLDEN:
It's right there.
It's right there. Go, go, go.
Okay, let's We got
to put it back on here first.
-NICK: One.
-MIKE: Two.
Try to keep it
as stable as possible.
Just squat down, Holden.
MIKE:
Four.
Okay.
-HOLDEN: Look at that.
-HAN: So good!
We got it.
HOLDEN:
There you go, there you go.
NICK:
Let's go. We got to move.
We got to move.
HOLDEN:
Yes. Route Info.
-Pit Stop.
-"Race to the Pit Stop."
BOTH: "Make your way on foot
to Pura Dalem Pelapuran."
HOLDEN: Let's go.
Hey, good luck, guys.
-Yes. Thank you much.
-Good. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
NICK:
Where did they go, Mike?
MIKE:
I don't know.
MARK:
Check?
-Hi.
-Hi.
-Yes.
-MARK: Yes. Thank you so much.
-BRETT: Oh, my gosh.
-Thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
-Terima kasih.
-Oh, my God, thank you so much.
-Terima kasih.
-Good job, guys.
-JEFF: Check?
-All right. All right.
-Yeah!
-Right, right. Right. My man.
-What I'm talking about, Pops.
-Let's get out of here.
-All right.
-ERIKA: Check, check.
Ah. Terima kasih, terima kasih.
-MARK: Here you go. You ready?
-BRETT: Yeah.
-MARK: You good? Okay.
-BRETT: Ready.
ERIKA:
Yay!
-Terima kasih.
-JEFF: Let's follow them
'cause I don't know where we're
going. Speed walk, speed walk.
ERIKA:
All right. Follow the boys--
Do you want me
to take the front?
MELINDA:
No. I don't know
what's worse
ERIKA:
Go straight. Lift up.
Step up.
Good job.
CARRIGAIN:
All right. I'm just gonna
tie it up then, yeah?
BERNIE:
I think so.
Just tie it the best you can.
CARRIGAIN:
Okay.
We are just figuring out
how to tie
this bad boy together.
We're the only team
here right now.
But it's not over
until it is over.
NICK:
Excuse me.
-Can we ask you
a quick question?
-Yes.
Do you know where
Pura Dalem Pelapuran is?
-Over there.
-Down. All the way down.
-Go through.
-All the way down?
-Yes.
-Thank you.
HOLDEN:
Pura Dalem Pelapuran?
It-it-- That's it?
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hold your skirt.
JOSIAH:
Lift it up a little.
Like pole vault.
-ALYSSA: Okay.
-JOSIAH: Thank you so much.
-Terima kasih.
Thank you so much.
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
-We saw 'em running
this way, right?
-Yeah.
I'm gonna push.
We did it.
-Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih.
"Make your way on foot
to Pura Dalem Pelapuran."
I'm guessing it's this way
'cause it's not back there.
BRETT:
Did you find it?
-No, but follow us.
-Follow you?
-MIKE: Pit Stop?
-BOTH: Yeah.
-Follow us.
-ERIKA: Right here, Mom. 29.
Do you see it, Mom? Next
to the flag, there's a spot.
Yeah, Mom, put it there.
-You got it?
-You got to get it higher.
I'm not strong enough
to pull it down.
Okay, let me switch you.
-I got it. I got it.
-Good job, Mom.
Yes. Thank you. Terima kasih.
-"Race to the Pit Stop."
-Where in the world is that?
ERIKA:
Okay, let's ask one
of these people right here.
Let's put it right here, Pops.
Oh, right here, right here.
-POPS: Right there in the hole.
-Right. Come on.
POPS: Jeff, we got
to put these on now.
Oh, it's just the head came out.
POPS:
Make it tight, Jeff.
-ALYSSA: It's all the way down?
-MAN: Yeah. Down.
-Yeah, I think
it's all the way down.
-Yeah.
-Let's do it.
-Okay. Thank you so much.
Thank you. Let's run together.
Excuse me, excuse me.
-HAN: Stay with me, Holden.
-HOLDEN: Yeah, I'm with you.
-JOSIAH: Sorry.
-ALYSSA: Excuse me.
POPS:
Whoa!
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff.
ALYSSA:
Just keep going,
keep going, keep going.
Oh, there's Josiah and Alyssa.
Let's just go down to the left.
-Let's go.
-Let's go.
ALYSSA:
Getting to the Pit Stop
was chaotic
because there were
so many other teams around.
MIKE:
We're tied up
with all these other teams.
from the other side
of the Detour.
Everyone is scrambling
to try to find Phil.
NICK:
Mike, here.
ERIKA:
We were chickens without heads.
Yes.
MARK:
We got to go see Phil.
ERIKA:
So just straight and on our left
before the grass?
-Yup. All right.
-Okay. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
MELINDA:
Which way'd they go?
ERIKA:
They went straight.
MELINDA:
No, they went left here.
No, I looked at the phone,
and it was straight.
-I disagree.
-Mom, I know it was straight.
Mom.
MELINDA:
Okay.
ERIKA:
He said it was this way.
There you go.
Okay. That's how I do.
-All right.
-Thank you.
"Race to the Pit Stop.
The last team to check in
will be eliminated."
-Come on, Pops.
-All right. Let's go.
Mike, it's right here.
-HOLDEN:
Oh, these are temple grounds.
-MIKE: What?
HOLDEN:
We're back on the square.
Are we back where we returned?
We just ran in a circle.
And when we say
we ran in a circle, we don't
mean, like, a small circle.
-Oh, this is where we were.
-Yeah.
We ran all the way around
to get back
to where we had just been.
MARK:
And we right
literally the exact
same spot.
Wrong way.
-ALYSSA: I just don't think
we ran far enough down.
-Okay.
I think we got to keep going.
HAN:
We turned the wrong way.
HOLDEN:
Honestly, that was my mistake.
-Go down that way.
-[groans]
NICK:
We took the wrong left.
MELINDA:
You sure that wasn't the left?
ERIKA:
Yes, 'cause
it was further than that.
-MELINDA: You sure?
-ERIKA: Yes.
-I really think it's that way.
-Okay, let's go.
I know
you're questioning it, but
MELINDA:
It showed a long ways?
Yes, it was a long ways
on the map.
BERNIE:
It's gonna be right here
to our right, Carrigain.
-CARRIGAIN: Right here at 25.
-Yup, right here.
-MAN: Okay.
-CARRIGAIN: Yay.
"Make your way on foot
to Pura Dalem Pelapuran,
Penglipuran,
and find Phil on the mat."
-Can you do a jog?
-Yeah.
Excuse us.
Step. You good?
[panting]
MELINDA:
Okay.
-Hi, Phil.
-Hi.
ERIKA:
Nice job, you guys.
-JOSIAH: Great job, you guys.
-Have a look behind you, guys.
ERIKA:
Hey, nice job, you guys.
We did it.
ERIKA:
All of us are coming in
at the same time.
Way to finish. Way to finish.
So I am pleased to tell you
that all of you will be racing
in the next leg of the race.
-[whooping]
-Good job, guys.
-Let's go.
All right, so let's go
through the order
of where you've all arrived
on this mat.
Melinda and Erika,
I am pleased to tell you
-that you were team number four.
-[both whooping]
Next up, we had
Alyssa and Josiah.
You are team number five.
Han and Holden, that would
make you team number six.
Team number seven,
eight and nine.
-All right, guys.
-Nice job, everyone.
Pops and Jeff,
let's talk about
the Driver's Seat.
Do you think
what they did today was smart?
It might have been smart
for this leg
because they got first again,
but ultimately,
they already had a target
on their back
from getting first place,
second place all the time.
So now, their target
grew even more.
JOSIAH:
It's not just Jonathan and Ana.
It's kind of funny.
Scott and Lori keep coming to us
and saying,
"Oh, we're the slowest team.
You know, just be careful."
And I'm sitting here looking,
"Really?
You're slower than me?
I can't run."
We all love Scott and Lori,
but at the end of the day,
I think we all see through
the game a little bit.
And, yeah, I mean,
it's kind of nice to hear
that everyone is kind of
-on the same page.
-Thank God, guys.
-BERNIE: Hi, Phil.
-Hi.
I'm a sore loser, so
I'm gonna apologize right now.
Bernie and Carrigain,
I'm sorry to say
that you are the last team
to arrive.
Sorry to tell you you have been
eliminated from the race.
-Thank you, Phil.
-Thank you.
BERNIE:
I mean, I couldn't be here
without Carrigain
at the end of the day,
and she knows that I have things
that I need to work on.
I'm well aware of those things.
Carrigain's patient.
She's loving.
She gives me a lot of grace.
She's very forgiving.
If I would have ran with
anybody else with this race,
they probably would have
hated my guts at the end of it.
But I know that
she is gonna give me grace
and understand that I love her.
And again, I wouldn't be here
if you didn't come with me,
so thank you.
CARRIGAIN:
I think the biggest takeaway
for me from the race, honestly,
is just gratefulness.
We come from the same place
and we have the same heart.
