The Amazing Race (2001) s37e05 Episode Script
It's Not Personal, It's Business
1
PHIL KEOGHAN: Previously
onThe Amazing Race
Ten teams raced
to Bali, Indonesia.
At the first ever Driver's Seat,
Jonathan and Ana
decided how much work
each team did at the Roadblock.
After assigning the least work
for themselves,
they used their Express Pass
to skip the challenge.
Terima kasih.
The fallout
from the Driver's Seat
was immediate and vocal.
Because it's from them,
I'm kind of pissed.
BERNIE:
Jonathan and Ana have
a big-ass target on their back.
Like, okay, claws are out.
Claws are out.
KEOGHAN:
Despite having the most weight,
Lori powered through
-Yeah!
-SCOTT: Thattagirl!
Thattagirl! Let's go!
KEOGHAN:
and caught the attention
of the other teams.
Scott and Lori keep coming to us
and saying,
"Oh, we're the slowest team.
You know, just be careful."
And I'm sitting here looking,
"Really?"
At the end of the day,
I think we all see through
the game a little bit.
KEOGHAN:
Married couple Brett and Mark
had taxi troubles.
I typed in the right one
and he clicked a different one.
We are now 43 minutes
in the wrong direction.
KEOGHAN:
But their competitive spirit
kept them in the race.
-Yes.
-You crushed that, babe.
KEOGHAN:
In the end,
Jonathan and Ana won the leg
Yeah, baby!
while friends Bernie
and Carrigain couldn't recover
from the Driver's Seat.
Sorry to tell you have
been eliminated from the race.
-Thank you, Phil.
-That's okay.
KEOGHAN:
Coming up tonight
This is gonna be so dramatic.
KEOGHAN:
the race continues in Bali,
where teams are pushed
to the limit
Can you be quiet?
I have a headache.
Oh, my God.
KEOGHAN:
and they face a shocking
live Double U-Turn vote.
They're not my friends anymore.
KEOGHAN: After racing
through Penglipuran Village,
locals invited teams for
a homestay
during the Pit Stop.
-Thank you for welcoming us
into your home today.
-Hi.
-Thank you.
-Hello.
Look how beautiful it is.
We got fish
right outside our door.
I'm really happy
that we get to stay here.
MELINDA:
Off to bed.
Terima kasih.
Oh, my gosh.
Smell this coffee.
-That's incredible.
-I cannot wait till tomorrow.
[laughing]
Leg five, here we go.
[whistles] Route Info.
KEOGHAN:
Teams must now travel by taxi
to the Sacred Monkey Forest.
This natural sanctuary is home
to more
than 1,200 macaque monkeys.
When teams arrive here,
they will encounter
a live Double U-Turn vote.
By the time they leave,
two teams will know
that they have to complete
both sides of the Detour.
Oh, cool.
We get to see monkeys.
Right here, babe.
Thank you, thank you.
We need to go to the Sacred
Monkey Forest Sanctuary.
-Yeah. Yeah.
-We are leaving today
in first place.
On the last leg
in the Driver's Seat,
we were forced
to make some tough decisions.
Some of those decisions
may come back to haunt us.
ANA:
Last summer, we found out
we were pregnant.
Unfortunately, the baby was
not growing in the uterus.
It's what they call
an ectopic pregnancy.
Our baby was not gonna make it.
You're trying to grieve a child
that you had already named,
and then your life
is endangered.
It was just really scary.
I wasn't sure
if I was gonna come home.
But Jonathan was just
the ultimate partner.
I think that just
solidified our unity
as a married couple.
JONATHAN:
We've gone through hell
and back, and we're ready
to ride out into that rainbow
and just, you know,
kill it on this race, man.
Yeah. We're gonna do what
we have to do to win the money.
"Travel by taxi to the
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary."
-Let's do it!
-Let's do it!
-Hello.
-Hello.
-Who is very fast?
-Who's fast?
You? Okay, let's go.
SCOTT: All right. Route Info.
"Travel by taxi to the
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary."
Let's go, let's go,
let's go, let's go, let's go.
-Right here, right here.
-Right here.
LORI:
Go, go, go.
We are headed
to a monkey forest.
-Yes.
-Which is so exciting.
We better keep any
and all snacks inside the bag.
-Yeah. Except for me. [laughs]
-[laughs]
CARSON:
It's hard to assess
what our goals are
because we know that
there's gonna be a twist
every leg of this race.
JACK:
We've been really good
about staying
in the front of the pack
but making relationships
with people.
We don't want to be top of mind
if something like a U-Turn
or a U-Turn vote comes up.
I'm, like, in my element,
I feel like, here.
I think we are. Yeah.
LORI:
To survive this race,
we're happy to be,
like, right in the middle.
-Middle of the pack.
-And if anything more than that,
that's just a bonus for us.
LORI:
BeforeThe Amazing Race,
Scott and I were wanting
to lose weight.
In nine months, I had lost
70 pounds, and then Scott is
-I've lost 100 pounds.
-Yeah.
SCOTT:
With the weight loss, I think
it's gonna be such
a great example to other people
who can realize
nothing stands in the way
of being able
to enjoy better health.
Right behind us
is Erika and Melinda.
And then behind them
is, really, five teams
tightly grouped together,
and we feel like we're
in a good position with them.
So I don't feel like
they would really,
if they got ahead of us,
necessarily do anything
to hurt us.
JONATHAN:
Right here. This is it.
JONATHAN:
What's it say?
-Okay.
-"Buka Jam opens at"
-Opens at 8:00 [laughs]
-"8:00."
Wow. We have a bit of a wait.
-Yeah.
-It is 5:53.
Might as well sit down
and get comfortable.
Fast?
Okay. I can't wait
to see all these monkeys.
We are so content just letting
everyone else kind of
battle it out up top.
We want to seem like we are the
team they can beat in the end,
but in reality, we only have
to win that last leg,
and there's a good chance.
It's a beautiful morning in
Bali. The sun is just coming up,
and we're headed
to the monkey forest,
which I cannot
contain my excitement about.
We're leaving in fifth
this morning.
We feel pretty good about it,
because I think last leg,
we kind of got our mojo back
a little bit.
We're really excited to just
make up some spots today.
JOSIAH:
It's us versus the challenges
and the Roadblocks
and the Detours,
not us versus each other.
We're gonna be monkeying around.
Go crazy, go bananas.
♪
HOLDEN: Ubud Monkey Forest.
-As fast as you can, yeah?
-DRIVER: Yeah.
HOLDEN: We've been getting
better each leg.
Right now, our main priority
is figuring out
-how to become a threat.
-Exactly.
-BRETT: We're excited
for a new day.
-MARK: Yeah.
It's kind of hard, uh,
to keep the fight going,
just to keep floating
in the middle,
but we're just gonna keep going,
and we're just gonna see
where that takes us.
NICK: In the last leg,
a piece of rice
went directly into my eye,
so
Got a little bit
of a swelling going on here.
So, protecting it
with cool Nick today.
This leg, our biggest
intention is
keep the discipline all the way
through the end of the leg.
JEFF:
Phil teased another surprise
for this leg.
Hoping that it does
the same thing
that the Driver's Seat did,
which was cause
a little bit of chaos
within that front pack of teams.
Because everybody's not built
for chaos, and we are.
-Okay.
-Here they are. D&D, baby.
[singsongy]:
What's up?
-Good to see you, man.
-Good to see you.

-JACK: Oh, no.
-How'd it go yesterday?
-So, we got there ninth.
So, we were glad that
we had to do the 20 pounds.
-Good.
-Yeah.
-Thank you, guys.
-No, no, of course.

We arrived third.
We don't need to pull anything?
We're just in line?

-All together.
-Nine teams together. Reset.
JONATHAN:
Scott and Lori,
the Driver's Seat--
it was nothing personal.
You guys did well, though,
and you handled the 25 well.
-We did okay.
-JONATHAN: It was just, uh,

were right behind us--
we wanted to give ourselves
a little cushion.
I thought we had such
a connection with you guys,
-Yeah.
-and we weren't gonna
hurt each other
-up in the front.
-Well, there were only two 15s.
But you guys burned one of them.
Why did you do that?
Well, we didn't know we were
gonna use the Express Pass.
-Yeah.
-I get it's gameplay,
but I took it as a friend.
-Yeah. I felt personal.
-Yeah.
JONATHAN: Scott and Lori
felt really betrayed
by what we did,
so I felt terrible about that.
There was no perfect solution.

-Someone was gonna get mad
regardless.

with all these monkeys
and I can tell you two teams

after we complete a live
Double U-Turn vote.
-Oh, my gosh.
-What?
KEOGHAN:
You have the opportunity
to slow down another team,
forcing them to perform
both sides of the Detour.
So, think very carefully
about these votes
because the top two vote-getters
will be U-Turned.
And as you know,
it could determine
whether you walk home with a
million dollars in your pocket
or whether you're eliminated.
Come forward and grab one
of the voting cards.
-Oh, my God.
-[laughing]: Oh.
KEOGHAN:

ANA:
After the Driver's Seat,
other teams
made it clear that our decision
upset them.
I don't want to U-Turn anybody.
I really started
to get kind of worried 'cause
I don't like having
a target on my back.
Babe, let's think about this.
Okay, okay, okay. Okay.
SCOTT:
We're gonna U-Turn
Jonathan and Ana.
What's crazy, though,
is that this is a Double U-Turn.
It could be eight to one,
and whoever Jonathan and Ana
vote for can be
the second U-Turn.
So, we came in here
guilting them a little bit
in the hopes that
they won't U-Turn us.
-Yeah.
-But I don't know.
The guy-guy teams need to go.
They're the biggest threat.
Carson and Jack

Not from Carson and Jack.
KEOGHAN: Right now, Jonathan

Scott and Lori got three votes.
And Nick and Mike,

-So, Nick and Mike.
-Jonathan and Ana--
we figured that
they were automatically
gonna get U-Turned.
-Aw, dang, that sucks.
-NICK: So, we just wanted
to pick the second team, so,
we chose
to U-Turn Scott and Lori.
Scott and Lori,
got four votes right now.
LORI:
It's hard to take that.
I just feel like
it's my eight sons
voting against me,
because I have this love
for every single one
of these teams.
My eight sons
would never vote for us.
LORI:
I know it's a game
and a competition,
but some of these teams
are our friends.
They're not my friends anymore.
-There's no way.
-KEOGHAN: Wow. Okay.
-LORI: There's no way.
-KEOGHAN: Uh
-Whoa.
[people murmuring]
I like you guys, obviously,
but at the same time,
you can't present yourselves
as a weak team when you come in
the top three every time.
I feel like you guys
are very friendly,
but I also feel like
you guys are using it
as, like, a social strategy.
-No. So
-And so that's what
it feels like to me.
SCOTT:
Like, there's no gameplay
in that we literally
bring positivity
to everything we do.
So the fact that
it's being perceived
as gameplay is just weird.
I'm-I'm struggling.
KEOGHAN:
I see the raised eyebrow.
-You're ready to make your vote?
-We choose to U-Turn
Jonathan and Ana.
JOSIAH:
We take no personal ill will
with the 25 pounds we got.
KEOGHAN:
Scott and Lori,
you get the final vote.
We choose
to U-Turn Jonathan and Ana.
KEOGHAN: Jonathan and Ana,
Scott and Lori
will have to complete both sides
of the Detour.
ANA: Getting slammed
with a Double U-Turn. [laughs]
That was-that was a shocker.
I have your next clue.
-We're screwed. [laughs]
-Yeah, yeah.
LORI:
I am just, like
[guttural groan]
Dread. I'm like, "This is
what it feels like." [laughs]
-Yeah.
-Yeah, not fun.

ready to race?

I'm coming.
JONATHAN:
Pantai Pandawa?
Thank you, sir. My man.
-Can you believe?
-Not one vote.
-Not one vote.
-Not one vote.
JACK:
We are winning the social game.
We did have one vote,
and I was scared for a second.
-I was holding my breath.
-Me too.
ERIKA:
The votes were a little bit
more claws out,
and it was kind of
crazy to see it go down.
JEFF:
We are in a great position.
It's anybody's race now.
ALYSSA:
First place, second place,
third place is up for grabs.
We want one
of those spots today.
ANA:
I'm scared.
We have a big chance
of going home today, and
Yes, we might now be forced,
with this monkey on our back,
to have to do a little bit more.
But we're always
the cup is half full.
-Yup.
-We're always the silver lining.
I'm just upset.
JONATHAN:
We are in a very bad situation.
Are we going to resign?
Of course not.
We're gonna fight.
SCOTT:
As far as I'm concerned,
we're winning this leg.
We might take first.
-[laughs]

-We're not going home today.

What is it? Oh, here.
-HOLDEN: Come on, come on,
come on. Right there.
-I see a flag.
Detour. "Coconuts or Coral?"
This is the primary reason
that people come to Bali.
The pristine white sand beaches.
This Detour gives teams
a chance to choose
between two sustainable
Indonesian exports:
coconuts and coral.
Coconuts are grown on farms,
and Indonesia is the world's
leading coconut grower,
big business for more
than six million farmers
here in Indonesia.
Known as the tree of life,
it's used for fuel,
medicine, building supplies
and, of course,
tasty coconut milk.
This Detour requires teams
to use a bicycle
to deliver 60 coconuts
to a beach café
along the shoreline.
Once they've stacked them up
like the locals,
they'll get a clue.
Indonesia is part
of the Coral Triangle,
the most biodiverse
marine ecosystem on the planet.
This is the perfect place
to regrow new coral
that can be distributed
around the world
in an ongoing effort
to replenish reefs.
It all starts
with a hexagonal structure
like this-- a reef star.
This Detour requires teams
to attach five species of coral
onto one frame,
snorkel with it out to sea,
and then plant it
on the ocean floor.
Once the coral is safely
in place, they'll get a clue.
Do you trust your ability
to understand the ocean,
to tie things down?
I trust your ability. Do you?
I've never done it before.
Coral seemed
a lot more intricate,
and we just knew that coconuts
was just a grunt task that
we would get it done.
-I think we do Coconuts.
-I think we do Coconuts.
-We're doing Coconuts.
-We're doing Coconuts.
-Coral Reef?
-Let's do the Coral Reef.
-I want
to restore the coral reef.
-Yeah. Exactly.
You want to restore
coral reef anyways.
We're gonna do Coral Reef.
I see a team right there.
There's the U-Turn boys.
You're the best ever.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Let's go.
-Hey, you guys.
-What's up, man?
-What's up, guys?
MIKE and NICK:
Detour.
"Coconuts or Coral?"
-All right, let's do physical.
-Yeah, let's do
-We're doing Coconut.
-Coconuts.
Do you want to do the swimming?
-I think swimming
is probably better.
-Yeah.
We decided to go for Coral
Because we wanted to swim.
We wanted a dip in the water
after a hot, hot day.
We're gonna do Coral.
All right, we're gonna do
we're gonna do Coconuts.
We decided to go with Coconuts
because I think we're always
gonna pick the challenge
that physicality plays in more.
-We're about to go Coconuts.
-I think we're going this way.
Oh, I don't want
to go in the water,
so let's do the Coconuts.
-Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, right here.
-Right there.
Okay, which one do we do first?
Where are the coconuts?
-Right here. Wait, wait.
-Uh
-We have to do both of them.
-And some people are running
that way. Okay.
"Make your way in the direction
towards Padawa Beach Café."
-Coconuts.
-Coconuts? Okay.
-Yeah.
-Coconuts.
-BRETT: Coconuts that way.
Coral.
-Right here. Coconuts.
MARK:
Coral. Right here.
NICK:
Coconuts.
-Where?
-MIKE: Left.
-HAN: Coconuts.
MARK:
Right here.
So
-BRETT: Here's the
-MARK: Where's the example?
That's the example, right?
BRETT:
Yeah.
-This is our station--
station number one.
-Station one.
-MARK: So we just have to
-BRETT: This is it.
One, two, three.
One, two, three.
-One, two, three, three, three.
-MARK: Just three, three, three.
BRETT:
In the Coral challenge,
we had to match
the type of coral
to the example
and tie them along
the spokes of this, like,
cage-looking thing.
MARK: Let's just try
to keep the shapes similar.
Coral is, like,
the lifeblood of our ocean.
We get to give back
a little bit. That's awesome.
MARK:
Yeah, you work on one,
I'll work on this one.
-CARSON: Hey, guys.
-BRETT: Here.
-Hand me one.
-Wait. What are we looking at?
We're looking at that.
CARSON:
Just looks like we're zip-tying
-a bunch of coral
to these things.
-Okay.
But it might be specific types
of coral.
JACK:
There's no way
these are identical corals.
We looked at the example,
and it was pretty obvious to us.
you can't just tie 18 corals
to this metal piece.
There's textures,
and there's colors.
You have to make the textures
and colors match.
Okay, well, let's start with
this purple guy and red guy.
LORI:
Oh, I see the clue box.
We're last here.
-Okay, which one do you want
to do first?
-Let's do Coconuts.
Let's do Coconuts.
Yup, that's what I thought.
-Which way Coconuts?
-Okay.
SCOTT:
We decided we were gonna
get the physical exhaustion
out of the way
-LORI: Right.
-and then use the Coral task
as a chance to kind of
recoup some of that energy
we had expended.
Coconuts that way.
-NICK: Right here.
-HOLDEN: Oh, right.
MIKE:
"Choose any available bicycle."
-I choose this one.
-NICK: Okay.
"Load your coconuts
onto your bicycle.
Deliver 60 coconuts."
-Okay, so you're saying
we're bringing 60 with us?
-Yes.
How the hell
are we gonna load this?
JONATHAN:
Coconuts to the left.
You want to do that one first
or this one? Coral.
"One orange bucket." Pick it up.
Right here is fine.
That looks similar.
Similar style.
-Hey, I'll switch this up.
-Okay.
-There's three on each, okay?
So look. One.
-Yeah.
JONATHAN:
There's two.
Make sure they're facing up.
A little nervous
to get into ocean water.
I'm not a strong swimmer,
but I'm on survival mode, so
-Gonna cut them.
-So if they don't
give us a check,
then we'll look it up. Yeah.
BRETT:
Right now, we're looking
-at the different types
of coral.
-This one.
BRETT:
And making sure that
they are the right ones.
-Just make sure they're all
facing up like this.
-Yeah.
They don't need to be cut, but
cut it if you want to be neat.
Yeah. Yes.
Okay. Ready?
Are they secure?
I'm gonna shake it, okay?
Yeah.
-This one's not secure.
-It is.
MIKE:
Nick, so we got to do 60.
Let's try to do ten at a time,
unless we can get a big bunch.
ALYSSA:
I think if we can
get one really big one
on the middle pole,
it would be best.
NICK:
Oh, these are heavy.
Um, try to get as many as we can
without making it too much.
JOSIAH:
So we had to transport
60 coconuts by bike.
ALYSSA: And trying to figure out
how to put the coconuts
on the bike
was really important.
And we went with a strategy
of getting
as many coconuts as we could
and as few trips as possible.
-JEFF: Come on, guys.
-ERIKA: Okay.
Could be here, Mom.
Come on, Mom.
Eighteen plus six.
You got 15. You want to go?
Let's do 15?
Ooh, that's heavy.
Oh, God.
-You guys okay?
-You good?
-Yeah, we're good.
-All right, let's go. Get up.
We got 15.
ALYSSA:
So, do we know
how many we have?
JOSIAH:
We have 30 coconuts with us.
-Slow down for a second
so I can stabilize.
-I'll slow down.
-Ready?
-Go.
That's my foot,
and that's a coconut.
-All right, just leave it.
Just leave it.
-No, we got it. Go.
-Can you jog it?
-No.
-Just power walk?
-Yeah.
Straighten it up.
-Oh, you got it?
-We got to go this way.
Uh, uh,
you're leaning me to you.
We're going to the right,
to the right, to the right.
Are we good to jog a little?
Slow it down
'cause this is falling off.
-Sorry, guys.
-You're good, you're good.
-Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
-It's all good, bro.
[bicycle bell dings]
Check, please?
I don't know if
They might not be right.
No.
JONATHAN:
No good. Okay. Um
-They did not get approved.
-Okay. Yeah.
Must be
a little more complicated.
Immediately tying
18 pieces to the wire cage
is exactly what Jonathan and
Ana did, um, which confused us.
It didn't seem like them
as game players.
Maybe they were flustered.
JACK:
It was pretty obvious to us.
Just mimic the demonstration.
Excuse me?
Can we get a check, please?
ANA: Okay. One, two.
JONATHAN:
I don't know, at this point,
what we did wrong.
We're gonna put 60 on one bike?
Probably 30.
Thirty and 30?
Oh, let's get the ones
with the biggest bunch.
SCOTT: Lori had the brilliant
idea, going to Coconuts is,
"Let's do this in two trips
and not have
to make a third trip."
We got this.
JOSIAH:
Let's just get it repositioned.
ALYSSA:
Getting the coconuts
from the coconut truck all the
way to the store was pretty far.
And it was just
in the grueling sun.
We're dropping coconuts
everywhere, we're sweating,
the bike is falling
left and right.
And I was like,
"Was this a good idea or not?"
-Let's just take this slow.
-JOSIAH: Yeah.
Maybe slow and steady
does win this race.
-Is this Warung Van Ronden?
-Yeah. Yup.
Where do you see that?
These are the things right here.
MIKE:
"Load your coconuts
and deliver them to the café.
"Once you arrive,
choose any available rack.
Then unload your coconuts
next to it."
Choose the one right here.
Next to it, right there.
That's 15, I believe. Let's go.
There it is. I see it.
Let's lay bike.
Okay, we just put 'em
right here. Right here.
Twenty-seven, 28, 29.
One coconut fell.
Falling. One sec. [panting]
Is it better just
to put it on top of here?
I think put all the weight
up here.
Okay. Ready? [grunts]
-Let me help. Hold that.
-We'll both hold it.
And I'll hold this. Ready? Okay.
I think that works.
ERIKA:
Killing me, Smalls.
HOLDEN:
You need to remember
the Warung name
-HAN: Van Ronden. Got it.
-because I'm
HOLDEN:
I'm looking at the ground,
trying to secure this.
HAN:
I think it's past
the parking lot.
-Whew!
-Struggling. It's hot.
It's hot. This is hard.
This is heavy. The bike's old.
-Beast mode, guys.
-All the way to the end, guys.
-All the way to the end.
-ERIKA: Nice job, you guys.
-Nice job.
-Beast mode. You got this.
-ALYSSA: Almost there, Melinda.
-Okay.
JEFF:
This is it.
HAN:
Choose a station.
JEFF: We got 15.
We got to take three more trips.
ERIKA:
Move.
-Just
-You're killing me.
-Sometimes.
-You told me to move.
Out of the way.
Don't throw them.
I don't want them to break.
Thirteen, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
I got 18.
Twelve, 13, 14, 15,
16, 17, 18.
[grunts]
ERIKA: I think we're gonna
have to make four trips.
Maybe three,
but more than likely, four.
LORI: Thirty.
We have 30, exactly.
SCOTT: Hey.
-LORI: We have to go back.
-Yup.
That's good, babe. No, no.
-Okay. Okay.
-That doesn't need
to be perfect.
-Okay.
-Can we get a check?
-No, no, no, no.
-ANA: Okay.
JONATHAN:
Yeah. It's a specific pattern.
We have to match the pattern.
It took a long time for us
to figure out
what we were doing wrong.
He noticed there were
all different shapes,
different colors.
So now we're trying to
be more detailed.
JONATHAN:
Green one, a little spiky.
Dark one, dark one,
dark one, dark one.
Green.
Okay, so, on the thing,
these two go
the opposite direction,
-stems other way, but
-Okay.
Do we want to check, just in
case, then we can switch back?
I think we got to check
just in case, yeah.
It's a little tricky
'cause there are different sizes
-and stuff, but
-Yeah. Just take them all over
so then you can see
if it's the same patterning.
JONATHAN:
I'm gonna put the order,
you tie 'em, okay?
ANA:
Got it.
Uh, we're just following
the pattern that Jonathan saw
on the sample,
and hopefully, that'll do.
-POPS: All right.
-ALYSSA: Slow and steady.
JEFF:
Come on, Pops.
Okay. This hill
is gonna be horrible.
We just have
to take it as slow as we can.
I think we're gonna do more than
we did last time, but not
-Ten. 13.
-to the point we're
overwhelming ourselves.
This one's good, Mom.
SCOTT:
Bring extra.
Yup. Put it on top. Let's go.
ERIKA:
This is an easier load, though.
I think
the lighter load is fine,
'cause we're gonna
have to do four either way.
My mom is a little bit frantic
sometimes and stressed out
'cause she doesn't want
to be the one,
just because she's old,
to hold us back.
But we can only race our race.
I knew for facts
that Ana and Jonathan and
Scott and Lori were gonna have
-to do both Detours, and, so
-Detours.
I was like, "We don't
need to go superfast."
We just need to do our race.
We got 40.
-Okay.
-Okay. It should be good.
Can we get a check?
-Nice. Good.
-Yes, yes!
-Thank you so much.
-Oh, thank you so much.
-Carson and Jack got theirs.
-Okay, I know, I know.
I can see.
Check?
-Yes. Good.
-Yes.
-Yeah. Let's go.
"You must enter the water
to place it anywhere
-beyond the orange buoys."
-Okay.
-All right. Ready?
-Yeah.
Let's go.
[whooping]
MARK:
See those orange buoys?
You have
to go past the orange buoys.
We have to swim there
and swim back.
Our strategy is get it done.
We can do it.
JACK: The waves are just
coming in, so, like,
this has gotten
to be really choppy.
-CARSON: Over here, Jack.
Over here.
-JACK: Yeah?
[whoops]
JACK: Just had to go past a buoy
and let it go past there.
CARSON:
We got it.
JACK: We did good.
We finished pretty quickly.
-Hi.
-Hi.
Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
-Yeah.
-Thank you so much.
-Thank you.
Route Info.
"Grab a taxi to Nusa Dua Beach,
then find your next clue."
-Okay, let's go.
-All right, let's hustle.
-Oh, hey.
-This is for you.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, let's go. Come on, babe.
JONATHAN:
Oh, my God. [groans]
ANA:
Come on. We still got to hustle.
SCOTT:
The wheel's locked.
-There we are.
-There we go.
-Crap. Stop. We just-- Stop.
Can you stop for good?
-Yeah. Yeah.
-Stop.
-Hey.
JACK:
You got it, you guys.
Look at the colors
of the coral. It matters.
Okay. Love you guys. Rock it!
-Thank you!
-LORI: Go!
-SCOTT: Go win!
LORI:
You're a beast, honey. [whoops]
Who to?
-MARK: Uh, Nusa Dua Beach.
-BRETT: Yeah, let's go.
JACK:
I think we might be in first,
and I think
if we can keep that first
for the Roadblock, we might
CARSON:
I know, but Mark and Brett
are right behind us.
They finished it so quickly.
MARK:
Carson and Jack's
the only one that got out
of there faster than us,
-so, that's why I feel good
about our team.
-Yeah.
Getting them off the stem is
actually pretty grueling task.
It's definitely hot out, too.
Not helping.
Ugh. Can't do that one,
baby doll. I'm exhausted.
[groans]
HAN:
Thirty-seven, 38, 39, 40, 41.
HOLDEN: All right, let's go.
-JOSIAH: Fifty-nine.
-ALYSSA: Fifty-nine.
-JOSIAH: 60.
-ALYSSA: All right. That's 60.
All right. we got to stack 30
of 'em in here.
The example,
they're just stacked in there.
And the other 30 go around
at the bottom.
-Ten.
-Eleven.
ANA:
We do not know
what we did wrong.
There may be a pattern
that we need to follow.
That's why we're doing that now
and going based
on their, um, texture.
In order to figure out
the mistake that we were making,
it was just trial and error.
JONATHAN:
Yeah. We have purple spikes.
Broccoli going down,
-bumpy going down.
-ANA: Okay. Bumpy, green,
spiky down.
Okay.
This is a This is it.
This is it. We need a green.
And eventually we found
one coral that had, like,
a purple undertone,
and we needed more like
a green undertone.
Can we get a check?
Good.
Oh, my gosh. That was it.
The rest of them, you.
I got these.
We need a lot more, bro.
We need 25. This is only 15.
We still need another ten.
-NICK: It's not gonna happen.
-MIKE: All right.
ERIKA: How many do we have?
-MELINDA: Seven piles of five.
-ERIKA: Okay.
LORI:
One. Six, seven.
-It's okay. 30.
-Okay. The rest has
to go around it.
We just put 30 up.
We're gonna put them around now,
just like the exhibit shows.
ALYSSA:
Okay. Can we get a check?
-Okay.
-Okay. Thank you.
-Terima kasih.
Thank you so much.
-JOSIAH: Thank you.
-Now we have
to return our receipt
and our bicycle
to receive our next clue.
All right.
-POPS:
But how many in the basket?
-All right, let's go.
JEFF:
Thirty, I believe.
-ALYSSA: Good job, baby.
-Yeah, you too.
We have more than enough.
Well, we got 60 off the stem.
-We need four more.
-Huh?
-Four more.
-Let's go quick.
We got to take it.
When I was about
five years old,
I had an incident
where I almost drowned.
So, going into
the open ocean has been
one of my biggest fears.
Go, go, go.
-JONATHAN: Aah!
-ANA: Oh, my God!
I didn't realize how deep
into the ocean we had to go.
And these waves are huge.
Oh, God.
I don't have time to be scared.
I have to get this done
or we're gonna go home.
But it's just so overwhelming.
-Oh, my God.
-Crazy, man. Crazy.
ANA:
Going into the open ocean
has been
one of my biggest fears.
What does it say, babe?
We both have to go in there?
But I was in such a
race mode today,
being U-Turned and all,
that there was no option.
We had to get it done.
So I came back to shore,
and I requested a vest,
and then we tried again.
Catch your breath.
-We need 19.
-Nineteen.
Got to deliver the bike.
Put it right here.
HAN:
Good job, guys.
-Thank you. Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih.
Thank you so much.
-All right, let's go back
to the taxi.
-Let's do it.
Sixty. Just keep--
Let's just do 'em all, Pops.
-We need all of 'em. Yeah.
-Oh, we need all of them all?
JEFF: Pops and I-- we
do hard work every day.
We're lumberjacks.
So being out here on the race,
we're enjoying
every minute of it,
and we do miss that hard work.
So, when we were doing
that challenge,
it just felt like
we were in our element.
-All right.
-Stack 'em.
Fifty-five, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60.
"Place 30 of them on your rack."
POPS: Twenty-eight.
-Twenty-nine.
-Thirty.
LORI:
We only need two more
on there.
-Okay, but the rest need
to be piled next to it.
-That's fine.
-[Ana whoops]
-JONATHAN: Yeah.
JONATHAN:
We did it.
ANA:
I am super proud of myself.
I think I'm gonna look back
and, you know,
pat myself on the back
that I that I did it.
JONATHAN:
She overcame some big fears, and
I'm enormously proud of her
for doing that.
ANA: Terima kasih.
LORI: Check?
-Okay.
-All right.
-Yes!
This way. This way.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
JEFF:
We delivered the coconuts, sir.
-Thank you.
-Oh.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
-SCOTT: Now we're just hoping
to knock out
the coral fast,
move on with the race.
-Fifty-two.
-We do for sure?
Okay.
Right now, we have 60 coconuts,
so the bike part is done,
-but now we just got
to do the stacking.
-Yeah.
Three, four, five, six, seven,
eight. All right, eight.
-Okay, come on.
-Yup.
LORI:
"Choose any
available workstation."
There's a finished example.
-Okay.
-Right here.
Here's ours?
I'm gonna put this
on our table, babe.
JONATHAN:
Coconuts right here.
ERIKA: We haven't seen Jonathan
and Ana yet. Here they come.
-Go this way. Yes.
-Is it easy?
-ERIKA: No, not easy.
-MELINDA: Very physical.
How do you load them-- you just
stack 'em on top of each other?
-ERIKA: I'll show you,
I'll show you.
-Thank you.
So you're gonna grab things,
stack them on your bike.
Okay.
-I'm exhausted, babe.
-Come on, baby. Don't give up.
How many trips have
you guys made so far?
-We had to do four trips, total.
-Oh, my God.
-[grunts]
-Right here on top.
ANA:
It was
really, really difficult
just maneuvering the bike.
-What do you need me to do?
It's not
-You got to hold it up.
What i
You're not communicating.
You're just pushing.
Am I supposed to counter?
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
-What do you need me to do?
-Hold the bike up.
[Ana sighs]
Okay.
Just hold the bike up, Ana.
These are, like,
hurting my shoulder.
-Can you hold the bike?
-I got it.
[sighs]
Okay.
-Can you hold the bike or not?
-I am holding it.
-Okay, you can't hold it.
-I'm holding the bike.
There's too many.
-Attention to detail, babe.
-LORI: Yup.
Pay attention to the colors.
-We just couldn't
-Eighteen pieces
of coral had to be attached to
this framework in a certain way.
It honestly all looked
pretty much the same.
SCOTT:
So we're trying to pay attention
to where the coral goes.
-We're doing good.
-I'm optimistic.
Come on, bro. Nice and easy.
All right, just be calm.
We got it.
We really struggled with
the stacking of the coconuts.
So they need to go like this.
MIKE:
In that blistering heat,
it's so frustrating
when you're, like,
one coconut away,
and then you see
the whole thing crumble.
It was tough.
MIKE:
Want to start over?
All right. I think we need
to do one of these deep breaths.
It's all about patience.
Just be one with the coconut.
ANA:
"Pandawa Beach Café."
HAN:
Can we get a check?
-Terima kasih.
-All right. Take the bike.
-Here we are.
-MELINDA: Oh, they're done.
BOTH: Fifty-five, 60.
Oh, my gosh.
Here come Han and Holden.
-Hey, you guys got it.
-Thank you guys.
-How far is it?
It's really It's at the end.
You'll see it.
Right here, baby.
There's a rack right here.
-Ooh! Be careful, be careful.
-That hurt a little bit.
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Let's roll.
There. A clue box.
Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
Surfers come
from all over the world
to surf the waves here in Bali,
which has earned a reputation
for being the surfing mecca
of Asia.
It's not just the waves.
It's the vibrant surf culture.
Surfers love
to cover their boards
with their favorite stickers,
something teams will need
to pay close attention to
in this Roadblock.
After choosing a board,
they must swim out into the surf
and search
between the two marked buoys
for a surfer
who has an identical sticker
on their board.
Once they've met their match,
and the judge back on shore
sees double, they'll get a clue.
-I'm gonna do it.
-Okay. Okay.
"Paddle out and search
for a surfboard
with a decal that matches
the decal on your surfboard."
-Let's do it.
-Okay.
-JACK: Okay. "Continue on foot
to the beach."
-Okay.
MARK:
You stop here. This is good.
Thank you so much.
So it's to the left of Le Bleu,
so let's just go down
that little street.
-JACK: It must be this, right?
-Yeah.
It's with the surfboards
right here.
-Oh, yeah, marked.
-JACK: Do you think
this is right? Okay.
-Yup.
-I'm just gonna take this
and get started.
Wait. Do you want
to this as well?
-No, I'm just going
to take this.
-Okay, great.
I think Jack's gonna kill this.
He's very good
at attention to detail.
I don't see
any other teams here.
I think we're in first place.
[exclaims]
Although, I think Brett and Mark
are probably right behind us.
-Yeah, there they are.
-MARK: They're over there.
Let's go.
Go that way. That way.
BOTH: Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
BRETT:
Do you think it's a water thing?
-Let's just have you do it.
-Okay.
JACK:
"Choose one of the surfboards
from the marked rack."
I'm gonna choose orange.
"Search among the surfers
floating on surfboards."
-Look at all those people.
-I know, all those people.
JACK:
Okay.
Hey.
BRETT:
Carson and Jack
are already there.
And Carson and Jack have been
at the top of the pack.
They're a strong team.
And I grew up near the ocean.
Yeah, I've surfed a lot.
So just a big opportunity
to get ahead of them.
BRETT:
Okay. Orange.
Jack just said
he picked the orange one,
so I'm a little concerned
that he's now
-MARK: He's going for orange?
-He's going for orange.
CARSON:
I think it only has
to do with the symbol.
MARK:
The decal. Yeah.
Nice and easy.
JACK:
After the rice challenge,
my back is so sore.
I was like [groaning]
I was having no fun.
Every thought was like,
"I'm not right for this."
[groans]
I think I like
"Island." This is the one.
SCOTT:
Yup. I want to check
after you tie that.
Oh, I like that. Thank you.
You're like my
surgical assistant in the ER.
-Yeah, baby.
-Teamwork makes the dream work.
-Yes, check, please?
-Check.
SCOTT:
Marine biologist, sir.
Thank you.
[Lori sighs]
No?
-Okay, let's go look.
-Okay.
So, up from the purple tips
is this light
brown one.
Purple tips.
Then this goes up
from the brown. This goes here.
A lot of work undone,
but that's okay. We just
It's not the end of the world.
We got this.
What are you doing, exactly?
Will you let go? Can you let go?
-It's gonna fall.
-Can you let go?
-Okay.
-Thank you.
-Just don't touch it.
-Okay.
JONATHAN:
I'm getting kind of tired
of this.
Thank you, sir.
Amazing. Let's go.
Twenty-nine.
Last one. Hold on.
-Ugh!
-Ugh!
Let's just start
from the bottom again.
Let's do some little ones
on the bottom
-so it's easier.
-That's what I said.
-Hold on.
-Twenty-nine in the middle.
-One more.
-One more.
ANA: Okay, we have 38.
Thirty. Check?
-Okay.
-Yes!
-Thank you.
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
-Oh, my God.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
Appreciate it.
-Oh, my God.
Mike, let's go,
let's do it, let's go. Move.
-Okay.
-Yay! Thank you.
Thank you. Terima kasih.
-We are the only
all-girl team left.
-Yeah.
-We got two girls here
and we crushed it.
-We did.
MELINDA:
Get our clue and get a taxi.
Yay!
ANA:
Come on, baby. We can do this.
If we do it one more time,
we don't have to go back, baby.
Get the bigger ones.
So as we're making trips
to the café, we see
teams just disappear.
I knew Lori and Scott
had already completed
their Coconut Detour.
I just thought, "Oh, my gosh,
they're gonna kill Coral Reef."
-Hopefully, this is it.
-My head is killing me, dude.
ANA:
I know. We're almost
out of the sun.
LORI:
The coral now
just looks the same.
I can't even
SCOTT:
Okay, we got this.
This is exactly right.
This is exactly right.
We're gonna pass this check.
-Check, please?
-Check?
-No? Okay.
-No?
I hate coral. I don't know
what to say about it.
SCOTT: Okay, check, please.
[laughs]
It's the only time
that I was like, "Oh, no.
"Something is definitely
going wrong right here."
Ugh!
Why is this so messed up?
Okay, honey, let's take
a breath. We got this.
We're never out
until Phil tells us.
-JONATHAN: How many do we have?
-ANA: I think we're good.
One, two, three,
four, five, six.
We're gonna stack 30 onto here,
and the rest just need
to be around it.
Delivery is complete.
-Thank you, my friend.
-Thank you very much.
Thank you so much. Rip it.
Thank you.
Oh.
BRETT:
The surfboard had a decal,
and you had
to match your sticker
with the other person's sticker.
That's so close.
There are a lot of decals
that are the same kind,
but different colors.
And the wave would come in,
and they'd move spots.
And I didn't want
to get it wrong.
So, let's keep going.
We're fighting for first place,
but honestly, when you're here
with Carson and Jack,
it feels like we're just on a
I don't know. It feels like
we're just frolicking.
It feels like we're just on
a little gay beach hanging out.
Oh, my God.
You.
Let's go.
I'll do it.
I want to meet my match.
MARK:
You got it, babe. You got this.
[sighs]
-Good job.
-MARK: Yeah.
-[clapping]
Oh, man. "Race to the Pit Stop."
"Make your way on foot
to the Taksu Art Stage
and search the perimeter
for Phil on the mat."
Teams will now race on foot
to the end of Nusa Dua Beach
and look for the Pit Stop
here at the end
of the peninsula.
After a grueling day in the sun
and the stress
of a Double U-Turn vote,
the last team to check in here
will be eliminated.
Let's just ask somebody.
I think I figured out
I need to match
my decal emblem.
And there were, like,
a hundred surfers,
and they were moving.
No.
And it's not ten feet apart,
and you could just run
to go check
someone else's decal.
You had to swim.
Aah!
It was really complicated.
This challenge
was hard, hard work.
Oh, my gosh.
All right, blue, let me see you.
But I'm a little slow.
Yes. Come with me.
JACK:
Okay.
[exclaims]
-Is Jack out there?
-I think that's
actually Jack, maybe.
-Oh, he's coming back?
-Look at him.
-He's, like, flapping.
-He's just he's chilling.
[groans]
JOSIAH:
Growing up
in Guanaja,
you have to know how to swim.
Our first swim lessons,
our dad would take us out
on a speedboat,
and he'd throw us
into the ocean,
and he would pick us up,
and he'd say, "Calm down!"
And he'd throw us back out.
And eventually,
I learned proper technique
of swimming,
and I've always loved swimming
ever since.
Good luck. [groans]
Okay.
Oh!
You got this!
-Yes.
-CARSON: Yes! Yes!
Thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you.
CARSON:
[whoops] You killed it, Jack.
You are king.
[groans]
-That was so hard.
-That's a far way to paddle.
-Race to the next Pit Stop.
-"Race to the Pit Stop."
-Did Brett and They left?
-They just left,
but they're right there.
It says 30 minutes by foot.
CARSON: Okay, yeah.
MARK:
It's got to be there.
We can get first place, babe.
JACK:
Did you see where
Brett and Mark went?
CARSON:
Um, no.
-MARK: Let's walk a little.
-Yeah.
JACK:
I feel like it's got to be this.
-Oh, sign. Sign.
-What?
CARSON:
Here. I see an arrow, Jack.
JACK:
Yeah, okay, okay. Yes.
[whoops]
Okay, we got this.
-[crowd clamoring]
-MARK: Yeah.
-Ah.
-And look behind you.
[singing upbeat song]
-Thank you.
-Terima kasih!
Thank you, guys. Thank you,
thank you, thank you.
Welcome to Nusa Dua Beach,
Bali, Indonesia.
-Yay! Thank you. Thank you.
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
-This is beautiful.
-WOMAN: Thank you.
Brett and Mark,
I am pleased to tell you
that you are team number one.
Yes!
-KEOGHAN: And I do have some
great news for you guys.
-Yay!
You have won $10,000,
$5,000 each, which you can enjoy
after the race.
-Congratulations.
-Ah.
Oh, thank you so much.
Pushing through the last
couple legs to just stay alive--
this was a fun way to,
like, really see
that what we have been doing
has been working.
Not a lot of people get
to come and make it this far,
-much less win a leg.
-Yeah.
MARK:
So, it's just super special.
[singing]
-[whooping]
-Yeah!
[exclaims]
Hey, Phil.
Carson and Jack,
I'm pleased to tell you,
you are in the top three.
You're, in fact,
team number two.
[cheering]
JACK:
We're definitely trying
to keep a low profile here.
Even though we've been kind of
doing really well
in this competition,
no one voted for us.
So we were like,
"Our strategy's working."
We see these teams
that come out way too strong,
and it puts a target
on their back.
Hi, everyone.
There's so many surfers
out there,
and they're all moving around.
And I swear, I thought
they were moving away from me.
JOSIAH:
I'm searching around,
searching around,
and I sit up and look around.
And I see the emblem.
-Okay. I'll meet the match.
-All right.
ALYSSA:
Yeah, Jos!
Way to go, babe. Way to go.
Good job, babe.
JEFF:
Honestly,
this would have been a Roadblock
that I would have done,
but I know
Pop's a great swimmer.
I hope that he sees exactly
what it is that he needs to do.
-Okay.
-Okay [whoops]
Ah. Thank you.
Now we take this with the bike.
-I got this.
-Ow. My head is killing me.
ANA:
By the time
we finished the Coconut Detour,
we don't see anybody else.
I feel pretty crummy.
But anything could still happen.
-Come on, babe. Let's go.
-Shouldn't untie that.
ANA:
We're so close.
Stay with me, babe.
Come on, baby.
JONATHAN: It was just
very upsetting knowing
that I would have
to fight for my life.
I had reached my personal limit,
uh, as far as sun exposure
and heat exposure goes.
My body was starting
to break down.
It was just too much for me.
Come on, babe.
Stay with me, babe.
[sighs]
Oh, boy.
His patience level is not
as high sometimes.
And when he loses hope, I think
it breaks him down a bit.
Babe, we got to go.
Come on, baby.
Okay, give him a minute.
Sometimes you just got
to have a little bit of hope
to get you through
The Amazing Race.
Come on, baby. I got this.
-Brown.
-I say that's green.
SCOTT:
Okay, let's change that
back to green.
So, green and brown.
So, that's brown.
Let's change this to green.
-This is the green one.
-Okay.
Let's get a better
green one, maybe.
SCOTT:
Jonathan and Ana, coming back.
LORI:
We saw Jonathan and Ana,
so we knew we were, like,
-on their heels.
-We're close.
-Hey, check?
-Good.
-Ah! Thank you.
-Thank you. Thank you.
-Terima kasih.
-JONATHAN: Thank you.
Thank you.
Let's go, baby.
SCOTT:
Let's go!
"Both of you must enter
the water.
Place it anywhere
beyond the orange buoys."
[Lori yelps]
[whooping]
Got this!
LORI:
Nice job. Nice job.
Come on, we've always talked
about how you never know
what's gonna happen.
You said this multiple times
when you watched the show.
Anyone could mess up
at any given moment,
-and that's our chance
to take their spot.
-Can you be quiet?
I have a headache.
Can you be quiet?
-I know, but I need you to jog.
-No, I have a headache.
-I can't run with a headache.
-I understand.
Can you be quiet, please?
Thank you very much.
Scott, we got to go. Come on!
Let's go, Pops! You got it.
All right, all right.
JEFF:
You can do this, Pops!
I'm yelling,
"Pops, you can do this!"
And then I look over, and
I realize he's with his person.
So, Pops handled it.
Superman!
Uh-huh. Whoa.
-All right.
-JEFF: Yeah!
-POPS: Perfect. Perfect.
-That's what I'm talking about.
-I knew you had it.
-[laughs]
-I got it.
-Oh, look. I see "surfboard."
"Paddle out and search
for the surfboard
with the decal that matches the
decal on your surfboard." Okay.
You got this. There's a needle
in the haystack,
-and it's surfing. You got this.
-And it's surfing. All right.
HAN:
I fell into surfing
for the past two years,
and it's, like, the one thing
that keeps me sane.
Do this one.
This was a Roadblock in heaven.
Best day ever.
HOLDEN:
It's the race.
Good vibes only.
We're on the beach.
[singing]
ALYSSA:
I mean, we're feeling good.
We're in Bali.
We got our mojo back.
Well, you're not
number one today,
-but you know where you're at?
-I think three?
-Three?
-That's right.
-Top three.
We said today we wanted
to be back in the top three.
HAN:
I'm trying to match my surfboard
with the surfboards
that were out between the buoys,
but there's something
that I'm missing.
I'm looking
for probably five minutes.
And I saw the sticker
on my surfboard,
and I was like, "Oh."
I found my guy.
And then I saw that
there was a wave coming,
and I just decided to catch it.
It was pretty sick.
-Good job.
-Thank you.
-HOLDEN: Let's go.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
You.
NICK: Because my eye
was still bothering me,
we figured
it was more detail-oriented,
and maybe Mike should do it.
I have no doubt
he's gonna crush it.
MIKE:
I didn't have
the range of motion,
and I couldn't really
use my legs.
It took me a pretty long time
to swim out.
There was a bunch of surfers
just chilling out there.
I started right
crossed all the way left.
I checked almost
every surfboard there, I think.
I was so tired, I was
laying my head
on the surfboard just like,
"I need to take a quick break,
'cause this is exhausting."
Oh, yeah.
[singing]
KEOGHAN: Pops and Jeff,
you are team number four.
No.
Can I see?
-NICK: Good job, Mike. Good job.
-Thank you. Thank you very much.
Oh, you did great.
You got it, you got it.
Stand up. You're good.
Great job. Great job.
Great job. Let's go.
Come on. Let's go.
Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
-I do. You're too tired.
-I'm too tired.
In reality,
we really wanted my mom
to take the Roadblock
on this leg of the race.
-Let's do it.
So where do I go, Mom?
-Down here.
ERIKA:
But with the
exhaustion that she was feeling,
I was doing it
-no matter what it was.
-I just couldn't.
Oh, this feels so freaking nice.
[singing]
Han and Holden,
I am pleased to tell you
that you are team number five.
Hi.
Same decal?
Let me see your decal.
All right, let's do it.
The very first surfboard
I swam up to was my decal.
Such a blessing.
These are going in.
There's some water pushing me.
Good job, Erika.
-Okay.
-Thank you. Thank you.
You killed it.
She saved us.
"Last team to check in
will be eliminated."
MIKE:
What do you think?
-Here? You sure?
-Yeah.
-You sure?
-Yes.
I don't know
exactly where it is.
I know it's this way, though.
There are still teams.
There--
Nick And Mike were still there.
-How quickly did they leave?
-They left right when you
Nick
Mike was changing when you
Oh, perfect.
This thing's a resort, bro.
This is not the state.
NICK:
You want to do your
due diligence the other way.
Let's do it this way, right?
Let's turn this corner to see.
MIKE:
This isn't it.
ERIKA:
See those big trees
where the opening is? Yep.
-MELINDA: To the right?
-ERIKA: Yeah.
NICK:
Mike, I see an arrow.
[singing]
Way to go.
Melinda and Erika,
I am pleased to tell you
-that you will be racing
-Yay!
in the next leg.
-You're team number six.
-Six?
-KEOGHAN: Yes.
-Six?
-We're six?
You're six. Yes.
-How did we get six?
-How did we get six?
Ooh. We only saw two teams
behind us. There's three?
KEOGHAN:
Well, they're
right behind you now.
-Good job, you guys.
-Good job, guys.
KEOGHAN:
Oh, here we go. Here we go.
Melinda and Erika, I'm gonna
let you tell this team
where they are.
-You guys are team number seven.
-[whooping]
[whoops] We've moved up one.
-[Melinda whoops]
-Yeah.
Lucky number seven.
Lucky number seven.
Now, you did
get a vote this morning.
Unfortunately for them,
we're still alive,
and their target
just got even bigger,
and, uh, they're behind us now,
so karma is, uh,
a you-know-what.
[laughing]
JONATHAN:
"Who wants to meet their match?"
ANA: Okay.
JONATHAN:
"Paddle out and search
for the surfboard."
Do you know
where the yellow buoys are?
Nah? Nothing?
SCOTT: Roadblock.
-If it's surfing, it's not me.
-Okay, I'll go.
Here.
Read that, just in case.
Oh, my gosh.
Lori and Scott.
No experience surfing, tons
of experience boogie boarding.
Oh, gosh.
LORI:
You got this! [ululates]
LORI:
We're not
surfers, per se.
We boogie-board quite a bit.
So I'm sure
he's gonna be just fine.
Let's go, babe!
You got this!
Looks like Jonathan
just made his way
to where the other surfers
are at.
I'm literally praying
at this point. [laughs]
SCOTT:
I'm about two-thirds
of the way out
when I start seeing Jonathan, so
I know I'm not too far behind.
SCOTT:
He seemed like
he was struggling,
so I'm like, "Dig deep!"
Come on, baby.
JONATHAN: My body was
starting to break down,
my head was starting to hurt,
and we still had this task
to tackle.
It's really stressful
when he breaks down
because I feel like
I have to be the strong one,
and I-I know how to support him.
It's really difficult sometimes
'cause I know
he really wants to be here.
We lost a baby last year,
and we came to celebrate life.
So when it doesn't feel Like
a celebration, it's a bummer.
But I'm happy
that he's out there
still trying. So I just hope
he can pull through.
If you think
you have what it takes
to be on The Amazing Race,
then go to cbs.com/casting
and apply now.
LORI: It's Jonathan and Scott
in tie for last place.
So, hopefully,
Scott can maneuver
through those surfboards
and find the match and get
out of here as fast as we can.
Scott, it's out there. Come on!
JONATHAN:
Oh, man.
I could feel
my headache flare up,
and I was trying
to push through it
and just get close enough
to where I can kind of,
like, lean up
and see the logo.
That seemed to work pretty well.
Now I just have
to get back to the shore.
Just need a break.
LORI:
Let's go, Scott!
[whooping]
You got this, babe!
SCOTT:
Like, checking as many boards
as I possibly can.
I see a lot of them, noses up.
I can see
it's not those, it's not those.
Finally, I see the sticker.
We start
beelining it back in.
Oh.
ANA:
I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what's happening.
He's not paddling anymore.
I know he's exhausted.
You're almost there, babe!
Scott's still out there!
Come on!
He's just taking breaks
in between paddles.
Whoa, Nellie.
This race is so close.
ANA:
Baby, you got this!
LORI:
Oh, shoot.
He just got the clue.
which is good.
Good for him, good for him.
Baby, let's get the clue.
Oh, my God.
Just give him a moment.
Just give him a moment.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
Come on, baby.
Good job.
Love you guys.
Scott is out there
fighting hard.
We're not giving up.
Not till Phil says.
We're gonna still keep fighting.
You got this, honey!
I'm so proud of you!
You're awesome!
Yes.
Jonathan and Ana just left.
We have this, honey.
ANA:
Come on. Babe, we got to run.
You understand?
-LORI: I just
saw them leave, honey.
-Okay.
JONATHAN:
I got to put my shoes on.
ANA:
Do you see where they're at?
Come on, baby.
LORI:
Did you see the art stage?
You know where we're going?
SCOTT:
I have an idea.
JONATHAN:
I don't see anything.
Oh, I see a marker.
ANA:
Where?
-JONATHAN: Go right.
-Where?
Oh, thank God.
-LORI: Oh, I see it. Come on.
-Where?
LORI:
I see it, honey.
-ANA: Come on, baby.
-Can you not say that again?
-That's gonna really
irritate me, hearing that.
-Okay.
-ANA: I don't know
what else to say.
-Just don't say that again.
[singing]
[laughs]
Welcome to Nusa Dua Beach,
Bali, Indonesia.
-Thank you.
-Thanks.
-Jonathan, Ana.
-[Ana sighs]
Tough way to start the day.
You survived it.
You are not
the last team to arrive.
You're team number eight.
-Congratulations.
-ANA: Thank you.
We knew we were
definitely a target, and, um
we expected it.
We just weren't ready for it.
[laughs]
I think
when the heat kicks in, I just
need to give him his space
and let him just
kind of work through it.
When I've been at my lowest,
he's been the one
that pushes me
and holds me and picks me up.
So
I need to be that for him, too,
when he needs me.
And I know that is today.
That was today.
I think what I take
from this leg is that
reality is never gonna
meet expectations.
I know, individually,
I can outcompete anybody here.
That was my expectation.
But this season of the race
is just so unpredictable,
and there's so many
twists and turns
and I don't think, uh,
it would have been possible
for me to win every leg
in this, uh,
this season.
This is just
not at all how I envisioned,
uh, my race going.
[singing]
LORI:
Phil!
[sighs]
[whoops]
-Scott and Lori,
just not your day today.
-Aah!
-Um
-LORI: Oh, my goodness.
-We really did not
see that coming.
-Not at all.
Not at all, no.
And I guess,
right now, in this moment,
as I tell you that you are
-the last team to arrive
-Yeah.
KEOGHAN: And I tell you
-that you have been eliminated.
-Oh, baby.
Right now, Scott, Lori,
this is a lesson,
also to your boys, in how
you move forward from here.
-Absolutely.
-Like, how you
-accept this.
-SCOTT: You know, I think
we realize that we bring out
the best in each other.
-Absolutely.
-We have the best team here.
And so, we got targeted
'cause we probably were the
best team in this season, so
LORI:
We're sad.
We think we have
a little bit left to give.
SCOTT:
When our kids watch this,
they're gonna realize
their parents
did everything
they possibly could.
LORI:
We gave it our all.
We had so much fun,
and it was such
a great adventure
that we'll remember forever.
I could not have run this race
with a better partner.
We're better together
than we are apart.
Yeah. I wouldn't have chosen
anybody else
to do this race with.
-Love you.
-Love you.
CBS
and TOYOTA.

KEOGHAN: Next time
onThe Amazing Race
-[whooping]
-HAN: Holy crap.
We are on camels.
KEOGHAN:
teams dive into Dubai.
-I see it. I see it.
-Aah!
KEOGHAN: And the competition
revs up
-[whooping]
-Wow.
KEOGHAN: with an ending
you won't want to miss.
We're in a literal footrace
right now.
Oh, man. Man!
PHIL KEOGHAN: Previously
onThe Amazing Race
Ten teams raced
to Bali, Indonesia.
At the first ever Driver's Seat,
Jonathan and Ana
decided how much work
each team did at the Roadblock.
After assigning the least work
for themselves,
they used their Express Pass
to skip the challenge.
Terima kasih.
The fallout
from the Driver's Seat
was immediate and vocal.
Because it's from them,
I'm kind of pissed.
BERNIE:
Jonathan and Ana have
a big-ass target on their back.
Like, okay, claws are out.
Claws are out.
KEOGHAN:
Despite having the most weight,
Lori powered through
-Yeah!
-SCOTT: Thattagirl!
Thattagirl! Let's go!
KEOGHAN:
and caught the attention
of the other teams.
Scott and Lori keep coming to us
and saying,
"Oh, we're the slowest team.
You know, just be careful."
And I'm sitting here looking,
"Really?"
At the end of the day,
I think we all see through
the game a little bit.
KEOGHAN:
Married couple Brett and Mark
had taxi troubles.
I typed in the right one
and he clicked a different one.
We are now 43 minutes
in the wrong direction.
KEOGHAN:
But their competitive spirit
kept them in the race.
-Yes.
-You crushed that, babe.
KEOGHAN:
In the end,
Jonathan and Ana won the leg
Yeah, baby!
while friends Bernie
and Carrigain couldn't recover
from the Driver's Seat.
Sorry to tell you have
been eliminated from the race.
-Thank you, Phil.
-That's okay.
KEOGHAN:
Coming up tonight
This is gonna be so dramatic.
KEOGHAN:
the race continues in Bali,
where teams are pushed
to the limit
Can you be quiet?
I have a headache.
Oh, my God.
KEOGHAN:
and they face a shocking
live Double U-Turn vote.
They're not my friends anymore.
KEOGHAN: After racing
through Penglipuran Village,
locals invited teams for
a homestay
during the Pit Stop.
-Thank you for welcoming us
into your home today.
-Hi.
-Thank you.
-Hello.
Look how beautiful it is.
We got fish
right outside our door.
I'm really happy
that we get to stay here.
MELINDA:
Off to bed.
Terima kasih.
Oh, my gosh.
Smell this coffee.
-That's incredible.
-I cannot wait till tomorrow.
[laughing]
Leg five, here we go.
[whistles] Route Info.
KEOGHAN:
Teams must now travel by taxi
to the Sacred Monkey Forest.
This natural sanctuary is home
to more
than 1,200 macaque monkeys.
When teams arrive here,
they will encounter
a live Double U-Turn vote.
By the time they leave,
two teams will know
that they have to complete
both sides of the Detour.
Oh, cool.
We get to see monkeys.
Right here, babe.
Thank you, thank you.
We need to go to the Sacred
Monkey Forest Sanctuary.
-Yeah. Yeah.
-We are leaving today
in first place.
On the last leg
in the Driver's Seat,
we were forced
to make some tough decisions.
Some of those decisions
may come back to haunt us.
ANA:
Last summer, we found out
we were pregnant.
Unfortunately, the baby was
not growing in the uterus.
It's what they call
an ectopic pregnancy.
Our baby was not gonna make it.
You're trying to grieve a child
that you had already named,
and then your life
is endangered.
It was just really scary.
I wasn't sure
if I was gonna come home.
But Jonathan was just
the ultimate partner.
I think that just
solidified our unity
as a married couple.
JONATHAN:
We've gone through hell
and back, and we're ready
to ride out into that rainbow
and just, you know,
kill it on this race, man.
Yeah. We're gonna do what
we have to do to win the money.
"Travel by taxi to the
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary."
-Let's do it!
-Let's do it!
-Hello.
-Hello.
-Who is very fast?
-Who's fast?
You? Okay, let's go.
SCOTT: All right. Route Info.
"Travel by taxi to the
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary."
Let's go, let's go,
let's go, let's go, let's go.
-Right here, right here.
-Right here.
LORI:
Go, go, go.
We are headed
to a monkey forest.
-Yes.
-Which is so exciting.
We better keep any
and all snacks inside the bag.
-Yeah. Except for me. [laughs]
-[laughs]
CARSON:
It's hard to assess
what our goals are
because we know that
there's gonna be a twist
every leg of this race.
JACK:
We've been really good
about staying
in the front of the pack
but making relationships
with people.
We don't want to be top of mind
if something like a U-Turn
or a U-Turn vote comes up.
I'm, like, in my element,
I feel like, here.
I think we are. Yeah.
LORI:
To survive this race,
we're happy to be,
like, right in the middle.
-Middle of the pack.
-And if anything more than that,
that's just a bonus for us.
LORI:
BeforeThe Amazing Race,
Scott and I were wanting
to lose weight.
In nine months, I had lost
70 pounds, and then Scott is
-I've lost 100 pounds.
-Yeah.
SCOTT:
With the weight loss, I think
it's gonna be such
a great example to other people
who can realize
nothing stands in the way
of being able
to enjoy better health.
Right behind us
is Erika and Melinda.
And then behind them
is, really, five teams
tightly grouped together,
and we feel like we're
in a good position with them.
So I don't feel like
they would really,
if they got ahead of us,
necessarily do anything
to hurt us.
JONATHAN:
Right here. This is it.
JONATHAN:
What's it say?
-Okay.
-"Buka Jam opens at"
-Opens at 8:00 [laughs]
-"8:00."
Wow. We have a bit of a wait.
-Yeah.
-It is 5:53.
Might as well sit down
and get comfortable.
Fast?
Okay. I can't wait
to see all these monkeys.
We are so content just letting
everyone else kind of
battle it out up top.
We want to seem like we are the
team they can beat in the end,
but in reality, we only have
to win that last leg,
and there's a good chance.
It's a beautiful morning in
Bali. The sun is just coming up,
and we're headed
to the monkey forest,
which I cannot
contain my excitement about.
We're leaving in fifth
this morning.
We feel pretty good about it,
because I think last leg,
we kind of got our mojo back
a little bit.
We're really excited to just
make up some spots today.
JOSIAH:

Detour. "Coconuts or Coral?"
This is the primary reason
that people come to Bali.
The pristine white sand beaches.
This Detour gives teams
a chance to choose
between two sustainable
Indonesian exports:
coconuts and coral.
Coconuts are grown on farms,
and Indonesia is the world's
leading coconut grower,
big business for more
than six million farmers
here in Indonesia.
Known as the tree of life,
it's used for fuel,
medicine, building supplies
and, of course,
tasty coconut milk.
This Detour requires teams
to use a bicycle
to deliver 60 coconuts
to a beach café
along the shoreline.
Once they've stacked them up
like the locals,
they'll get a clue.
Indonesia is part
of the Coral Triangle,
the most biodiverse
marine ecosystem on the planet.
This is the perfect place
to regrow new coral
that can be distributed
around the world
in an ongoing effort
to replenish reefs.
It all starts
with a hexagonal structure
like this-- a reef star.
This Detour requires teams
to attach five species of coral
onto one frame,
snorkel with it out to sea,
and then plant it
on the ocean floor.
Once the coral is safely
in place, they'll get a clue.
Do you trust your ability
to understand the ocean,
to tie things down?
I trust your ability. Do you?
I've never done it before.
Coral seemed
a lot more intricate,
and we just knew that coconuts
was just a grunt task that
we would get it done.
-I think we do Coconuts.
-I think we do Coconuts.
-We're doing Coconuts.
-We're doing Coconuts.
-Coral Reef?
-Let's do the Coral Reef.
-I want
to restore the coral reef.
-Yeah. Exactly.
You want to restore
coral reef anyways.
We're gonna do Coral Reef.
I see a team right there.
There's the U-Turn boys.
You're the best ever.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Let's go.
-Hey, you guys.
-What's up, man?

MIKE and NICK:
Detour.

-All right, let's do physical.
-Yeah, let's do
-We're doing Coconut.
-Coconuts.
Do you want to do the swimming?
-I think swimming
is probably better.
-Yeah.
We decided to go for Coral
Because we wanted to swim.
We wanted a dip in the water
after a hot, hot day.
We're gonna do Coral.
All right, we're gonna do
we're gonna do Coconuts.
We decided to go with Coconuts
because I think we're always
gonna pick the challenge
that physicality plays in more.
-We're about to go Coconuts.
-I think we're going this way.
Oh, I don't want
to go in the water,
so let's do the Coconuts.
-Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, right here.
-Right there.
Okay, which one do we do first?
Where are the coconuts?
-Right here. Wait, wait.
-Uh
-We have to do both of them.
-And some people are running
that way. Okay.
"Make your way in the direction
towards Padawa Beach Café."
-Coconuts.
-Coconuts? Okay.
-Yeah.

-BRETT: Coconuts that way.
Coral.
-Right here. Coconuts.
MARK:
Coral. Right here.
NICK:
Coconuts.
-Where?
-MIKE: Left.
-HAN: Coconuts.
MARK:
Right here.
So
-BRETT: Here's the
-MARK: Where's the example?
That's the example, right?
BRETT:
Yeah.
-This is our station--
station number one.
-Station one.
-MARK: So we just have to
-BRETT: This is it.
One, two, three.
One, two, three.
-One, two, three, three, three.
-MARK: Just three, three, three.
BRETT:
In the Coral challenge,
we had to match
the type of coral
to the example
and tie them along
the spokes of this, like,
cage-looking thing.
MARK: Let's just try
to keep the shapes similar.
Coral is, like,
the lifeblood of our ocean.
We get to give back
a little bit. That's awesome.
MARK:
Yeah, you work on one,
I'll work on this one.
-CARSON: Hey, guys.
-BRETT: Here.
-Hand me one.
-Wait. What are we looking at?
We're looking at that.
CARSON:
Just looks like we're zip-tying
-a bunch of coral
to these things.
-Okay.
But it might be specific types
of coral.
JACK:
There's no way
these are identical corals.
We looked at the example,
and it was pretty obvious to us.
you can't just tie 18 corals
to this metal piece.
There's textures,
and there's colors.
You have to make the textures
and colors match.
Okay, well, let's start with
this purple guy and red guy.
LORI:
Oh, I see the clue box.

-Let's do Coconuts.
Let's do Coconuts.
Yup, that's what I thought.
-Which way Coconuts?
-Okay.
SCOTT:
We decided we were gonna
get the physical exhaustion
out of the way
-LORI: Right.
-and then use the Coral task
as a chance to kind of
recoup some of that energy
we had expended.
Coconuts that way.
-NICK: Right here.
-HOLDEN: Oh, right.
MIKE:

we're bringing 60 with us?
-Yes.
How the hell
are we gonna load this?
JONATHAN:
Coconuts to the left.
You want to do that one first
or this one? Coral.
"One orange bucket." Pick it up.
Right here is fine.
That looks similar.
Similar style.
-Hey, I'll switch this up.
-Okay.
-There's three on each, okay?
So look. One.
-Yeah.
JONATHAN:
There's two.
Make sure they're facing up.
A little nervous
to get into ocean water.
I'm not a strong swimmer,
but I'm on survival mode, so
-Gonna cut them.
-So if they don't
give us a check,
then we'll look it up. Yeah.
BRETT:
Right now, we're looking
-at the different types
of coral.
-This one.
BRETT:
And making sure that
they are the right ones.
-Just make sure they're all
facing up like this.
-Yeah.
They don't need to be cut, but
cut it if you want to be neat.
Yeah. Yes.
Okay. Ready?
Are they secure?
I'm gonna shake it, okay?
Yeah.
-This one's not secure.
-It is.
MIKE:
Nick, so we got to do 60.
Let's try to do ten at a time,
unless we can get a big bunch.
ALYSSA:
I think if we can
get one really big one
on the middle pole,
it would be best.
NICK:
Oh, these are heavy.
Um, try to get as many as we can
without making it too much.
JOSIAH:
So we had to transport
60 coconuts by bike.
ALYSSA: And trying to figure out
how to put the coconuts
on the bike
was really important.
And we went with a strategy
of getting
as many coconuts as we could
and as few trips as possible.
-JEFF: Come on, guys.
-ERIKA: Okay.
Could be here, Mom.
Come on, Mom.
Eighteen plus six.
You got 15. You want to go?
Let's do 15?
Ooh, that's heavy.
Oh, God.
-You guys okay?
-You good?
-Yeah, we're good.
-All right, let's go. Get up.
We got 15.
ALYSSA:
So, do we know
how many we have?
JOSIAH:
We have 30 coconuts with us.
-Slow down for a second
so I can stabilize.
-I'll slow down.
-Ready?
-Go.
That's my foot,
and that's a coconut.
-All right, just leave it.
Just leave it.
-No, we got it. Go.
-Can you jog it?
-No.
-Just power walk?
-Yeah.
Straighten it up.
-Oh, you got it?
-We got to go this way.
Uh, uh,
you're leaning me to you.
We're going to the right,
to the right, to the right.
Are we good to jog a little?
Slow it down
'cause this is falling off.
-Sorry, guys.
-You're good, you're good.
-Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
-It's all good, bro.
[bicycle bell dings]
Check, please?
I don't know if
They might not be right.
No.
JONATHAN:
No good. Okay. Um
-They did not get approved.
-Okay. Yeah.
Must be
a little more complicated.
Immediately tying
18 pieces to the wire cage
is exactly what Jonathan and
Ana did, um, which confused us.
It didn't seem like them
as game players.
Maybe they were flustered.
JACK:
It was pretty obvious to us.
Just mimic the demonstration.
Excuse me?
Can we get a check, please?
ANA: Okay. One, two.
JONATHAN:
I don't know, at this point,
what we did wrong.
We're gonna put 60 on one bike?
Probably 30.
Thirty and 30?
Oh, let's get the ones
with the biggest bunch.
SCOTT: Lori had the brilliant
idea, going to Coconuts is,
"Let's do this in two trips
and not have
to make a third trip."
We got this.
JOSIAH:
Let's just get it repositioned.
ALYSSA:
Getting the coconuts
from the coconut truck all the
way to the store was pretty far.
And it was just
in the grueling sun.
We're dropping coconuts
everywhere, we're sweating,
the bike is falling
left and right.
And I was like,
"Was this a good idea or not?"
-Let's just take this slow.
-JOSIAH: Yeah.
Maybe slow and steady
does win this race.
-Is this Warung Van Ronden?
-Yeah. Yup.
Where do you see that?
These are the things right here.
MIKE:
"Load your coconuts
and deliver them to the café.
"Once you arrive,
choose any available rack.
Then unload your coconuts
next to it."
Choose the one right here.
Next to it, right there.
That's 15, I believe. Let's go.
There it is. I see it.
Let's lay bike.
Okay, we just put 'em
right here. Right here.
Twenty-seven, 28, 29.
One coconut fell.
Falling. One sec. [panting]
Is it better just
to put it on top of here?
I think put all the weight
up here.
Okay. Ready? [grunts]
-Let me help. Hold that.
-We'll both hold it.
And I'll hold this. Ready? Okay.
I think that works.
ERIKA:
Killing me, Smalls.
HOLDEN:
You need to remember
the Warung name
-HAN: Van Ronden. Got it.
-because I'm
HOLDEN:
I'm looking at the ground,
trying to secure this.
HAN:
I think it's past
the parking lot.
-Whew!
-Struggling. It's hot.
It's hot. This is hard.
This is heavy. The bike's old.
-Beast mode, guys.
-All the way to the end, guys.
-All the way to the end.
-ERIKA: Nice job, you guys.
-Nice job.
-Beast mode. You got this.
-ALYSSA: Almost there, Melinda.
-Okay.
JEFF:
This is it.
HAN:
Choose a station.
JEFF: We got 15.
We got to take three more trips.
ERIKA:
Move.
-Just
-You're killing me.
-Sometimes.
-You told me to move.
Out of the way.
Don't throw them.
I don't want them to break.
Thirteen, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
I got 18.
Twelve, 13, 14, 15,
16, 17, 18.
[grunts]
ERIKA: I think we're gonna
have to make four trips.
Maybe three,
but more than likely, four.
LORI: Thirty.
We have 30, exactly.
SCOTT: Hey.
-LORI: We have to go back.
-Yup.
That's good, babe. No, no.
-Okay. Okay.
-That doesn't need
to be perfect.
-Okay.
-Can we get a check?
-No, no, no, no.
-ANA: Okay.
JONATHAN:
Yeah. It's a specific pattern.
We have to match the pattern.
It took a long time for us
to figure out
what we were doing wrong.
He noticed there were
all different shapes,
different colors.
So now we're trying to
be more detailed.
JONATHAN:
Green one, a little spiky.
Dark one, dark one,
dark one, dark one.
Green.
Okay, so, on the thing,
these two go
the opposite direction,
-stems other way, but
-Okay.
Do we want to check, just in
case, then we can switch back?
I think we got to check
just in case, yeah.
It's a little tricky
'cause there are different sizes
-and stuff, but
-Yeah. Just take them all over
so then you can see
if it's the same patterning.
JONATHAN:
I'm gonna put the order,
you tie 'em, okay?
ANA:
Got it.
Uh, we're just following
the pattern that Jonathan saw
on the sample,
and hopefully, that'll do.
-POPS: All right.
-ALYSSA: Slow and steady.
JEFF:
Come on, Pops.
Okay. This hill
is gonna be horrible.
We just have
to take it as slow as we can.
I think we're gonna do more than
we did last time, but not
-Ten. 13.
-to the point we're
overwhelming ourselves.
This one's good, Mom.
SCOTT:
Bring extra.
Yup. Put it on top. Let's go.
ERIKA:
This is an easier load, though.
I think
the lighter load is fine,
'cause we're gonna
have to do four either way.
My mom is a little bit frantic
sometimes and stressed out
'cause she doesn't want
to be the one,
just because she's old,
to hold us back.
But we can only race our race.
I knew for facts
that Ana and Jonathan and
Scott and Lori were gonna have
-to do both Detours, and, so
-Detours.
I was like, "We don't
need to go superfast."
We just need to do our race.
We got 40.
-Okay.
-Okay. It should be good.
Can we get a check?
-Nice. Good.
-Yes, yes!
-Thank you so much.
-Oh, thank you so much.
-Carson and Jack got theirs.
-Okay, I know, I know.
I can see.
Check?
-Yes. Good.
-Yes.
-Yeah. Let's go.
"You must enter the water
to place it anywhere
-beyond the orange buoys."
-Okay.
-All right. Ready?
-Yeah.
Let's go.
[whooping]
MARK:
See those orange buoys?
You have
to go past the orange buoys.
We have to swim there
and swim back.
Our strategy is get it done.
We can do it.
JACK: The waves are just
coming in, so, like,
this has gotten
to be really choppy.
-CARSON: Over here, Jack.
Over here.
-JACK: Yeah?
[whoops]
JACK: Just had to go past a buoy
and let it go past there.
CARSON:
We got it.
JACK: We did good.
We finished pretty quickly.
-Hi.
-Hi.
Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
-Yeah.
-Thank you so much.
-Thank you.
Route Info.
"Grab a taxi to Nusa Dua Beach,
then find your next clue."
-Okay, let's go.
-All right, let's hustle.
-Oh, hey.
-This is for you.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, let's go. Come on, babe.
JONATHAN:
Oh, my God. [groans]
ANA:
Come on. We still got to hustle.
SCOTT:
The wheel's locked.
-There we are.
-There we go.
-Crap. Stop. We just-- Stop.
Can you stop for good?
-Yeah. Yeah.
-Stop.
-Hey.
JACK:
You got it, you guys.
Look at the colors
of the coral. It matters.
Okay. Love you guys. Rock it!
-Thank you!
-LORI: Go!
-SCOTT: Go win!
LORI:
You're a beast, honey. [whoops]
Who to?
-MARK: Uh, Nusa Dua Beach.
-BRETT: Yeah, let's go.
JACK:
I think we might be in first,
and I think
if we can keep that first
for the Roadblock, we might
CARSON:
I know, but Mark and Brett
are right behind us.
They finished it so quickly.
MARK:
Carson and Jack's
the only one that got out
of there faster than us,
-so, that's why I feel good
about our team.
-Yeah.
Getting them off the stem is
actually pretty grueling task.
It's definitely hot out, too.
Not helping.
Ugh. Can't do that one,
baby doll. I'm exhausted.
[groans]
HAN:
Thirty-seven, 38, 39, 40, 41.
HOLDEN: All right, let's go.
-JOSIAH: Fifty-nine.
-ALYSSA: Fifty-nine.
-JOSIAH: 60.
-ALYSSA: All right. That's 60.
All right. we got to stack 30
of 'em in here.
The example,
they're just stacked in there.
And the other 30 go around
at the bottom.
-Ten.
-Eleven.
ANA:
We do not know
what we did wrong.
There may be a pattern
that we need to follow.
That's why we're doing that now
and going based
on their, um, texture.
In order to figure out
the mistake that we were making,
it was just trial and error.
JONATHAN:
Yeah. We have purple spikes.
Broccoli going down,
-bumpy going down.
-ANA: Okay. Bumpy, green,
spiky down.
Okay.
This is a This is it.
This is it. We need a green.
And eventually we found
one coral that had, like,
a purple undertone,
and we needed more like
a green undertone.
Can we get a check?
Good.
Oh, my gosh. That was it.
The rest of them, you.
I got these.
We need a lot more, bro.
We need 25. This is only 15.
We still need another ten.
-NICK: It's not gonna happen.
-MIKE: All right.
ERIKA: How many do we have?
-MELINDA: Seven piles of five.
-ERIKA: Okay.
LORI:
One. Six, seven.
-It's okay. 30.
-Okay. The rest has
to go around it.
We just put 30 up.
We're gonna put them around now,
just like the exhibit shows.
ALYSSA:
Okay. Can we get a check?
-Okay.
-Okay. Thank you.
-Terima kasih.
Thank you so much.
-JOSIAH: Thank you.
-Now we have
to return our receipt
and our bicycle
to receive our next clue.
All right.
-POPS:
But how many in the basket?
-All right, let's go.
JEFF:
Thirty, I believe.
-ALYSSA: Good job, baby.
-Yeah, you too.
We have more than enough.
Well, we got 60 off the stem.
-We need four more.
-Huh?
-Four more.
-Let's go quick.
We got to take it.
When I was about
five years old,
I had an incident
where I almost drowned.
So, going into
the open ocean has been
one of my biggest fears.
Go, go, go.
-JONATHAN: Aah!
-ANA: Oh, my God!
I didn't realize how deep
into the ocean we had to go.
And these waves are huge.
Oh, God.
I don't have time to be scared.
I have to get this done
or we're gonna go home.
But it's just so overwhelming.
-Oh, my God.
-Crazy, man. Crazy.
ANA:
Going into the open ocean
has been
one of my biggest fears.
What does it say, babe?
We both have to go in there?
But I was in such a
race mode today,
being U-Turned and all,
that there was no option.
We had to get it done.
So I came back to shore,
and I requested a vest,
and then we tried again.
Catch your breath.
-We need 19.
-Nineteen.
Got to deliver the bike.
Put it right here.
HAN:
Good job, guys.
-Thank you. Terima kasih.
-Terima kasih.
Thank you so much.
-All right, let's go back
to the taxi.
-Let's do it.
Sixty. Just keep--
Let's just do 'em all, Pops.
-We need all of 'em. Yeah.
-Oh, we need all of them all?
JEFF: Pops and I-- we
do hard work every day.
We're lumberjacks.
So being out here on the race,
we're enjoying
every minute of it,
and we do miss that hard work.
So, when we were doing
that challenge,
it just felt like
we were in our element.
-All right.
-Stack 'em.
Fifty-five, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60.
"Place 30 of them on your rack."
POPS: Twenty-eight.
-Twenty-nine.
-Thirty.
LORI:
We only need two more
on there.
-Okay, but the rest need
to be piled next to it.
-That's fine.
-[Ana whoops]
-JONATHAN: Yeah.
JONATHAN:
We did it.
ANA:
I am super proud of myself.
I think I'm gonna look back
and, you know,
pat myself on the back
that I that I did it.
JONATHAN:
She overcame some big fears, and
I'm enormously proud of her
for doing that.
ANA: Terima kasih.
LORI: Check?
-Okay.
-All right.
-Yes!
This way. This way.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
JEFF:
We delivered the coconuts, sir.
-Thank you.
-Oh.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
-SCOTT: Now we're just hoping
to knock out
the coral fast,
move on with the race.
-Fifty-two.
-We do for sure?
Okay.
Right now, we have 60 coconuts,
so the bike part is done,
-but now we just got
to do the stacking.
-Yeah.
Three, four, five, six, seven,
eight. All right, eight.
-Okay, come on.
-Yup.
LORI:
"Choose any
available workstation."
There's a finished example.
-Okay.
-Right here.
Here's ours?
I'm gonna put this
on our table, babe.
JONATHAN:
Coconuts right here.
ERIKA: We haven't seen Jonathan
and Ana yet. Here they come.
-Go this way. Yes.
-Is it easy?
-ERIKA: No, not easy.
-MELINDA: Very physical.
How do you load them-- you just
stack 'em on top of each other?
-ERIKA: I'll show you,
I'll show you.
-Thank you.
So you're gonna grab things,
stack them on your bike.
Okay.
-I'm exhausted, babe.
-Come on, baby. Don't give up.
How many trips have
you guys made so far?
-We had to do four trips, total.
-Oh, my God.
-[grunts]
-Right here on top.
ANA:
It was
really, really difficult
just maneuvering the bike.
-What do you need me to do?
It's not
-You got to hold it up.
What i
You're not communicating.
You're just pushing.
Am I supposed to counter?
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
-What do you need me to do?
-Hold the bike up.
[Ana sighs]
Okay.
Just hold the bike up, Ana.
These are, like,
hurting my shoulder.
-Can you hold the bike?
-I got it.
[sighs]
Okay.
-Can you hold the bike or not?
-I am holding it.
-Okay, you can't hold it.
-I'm holding the bike.
There's too many.
-Attention to detail, babe.
-LORI: Yup.
Pay attention to the colors.
-We just couldn't
-Eighteen pieces
of coral had to be attached to
this framework in a certain way.
It honestly all looked
pretty much the same.
SCOTT:
So we're trying to pay attention
to where the coral goes.
-We're doing good.
-I'm optimistic.
Come on, bro. Nice and easy.
All right, just be calm.
We got it.
We really struggled with
the stacking of the coconuts.
So they need to go like this.
MIKE:
In that blistering heat,
it's so frustrating
when you're, like,
one coconut away,
and then you see
the whole thing crumble.
It was tough.
MIKE:
Want to start over?
All right. I think we need
to do one of these deep breaths.
It's all about patience.
Just be one with the coconut.
ANA:
"Pandawa Beach Café."
HAN:
Can we get a check?
-Terima kasih.
-All right. Take the bike.
-Here we are.
-MELINDA: Oh, they're done.
BOTH: Fifty-five, 60.
Oh, my gosh.
Here come Han and Holden.
-Hey, you guys got it.
-Thank you guys.
-How far is it?
It's really It's at the end.
You'll see it.
Right here, baby.
There's a rack right here.
-Ooh! Be careful, be careful.
-That hurt a little bit.
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Let's roll.
There. A clue box.
Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
Surfers come
from all over the world
to surf the waves here in Bali,
which has earned a reputation
for being the surfing mecca
of Asia.
It's not just the waves.
It's the vibrant surf culture.
Surfers love
to cover their boards
with their favorite stickers,
something teams will need
to pay close attention to
in this Roadblock.
After choosing a board,
they must swim out into the surf
and search
between the two marked buoys
for a surfer
who has an identical sticker
on their board.
Once they've met their match,
and the judge back on shore
sees double, they'll get a clue.
-I'm gonna do it.
-Okay. Okay.
"Paddle out and search
for a surfboard
with a decal that matches
the decal on your surfboard."
-Let's do it.
-Okay.
-JACK: Okay. "Continue on foot
to the beach."
-Okay.
MARK:
You stop here. This is good.
Thank you so much.
So it's to the left of Le Bleu,
so let's just go down
that little street.
-JACK: It must be this, right?
-Yeah.
It's with the surfboards
right here.
-Oh, yeah, marked.
-JACK: Do you think
this is right? Okay.
-Yup.
-I'm just gonna take this
and get started.
Wait. Do you want
to this as well?
-No, I'm just going
to take this.
-Okay, great.
I think Jack's gonna kill this.
He's very good
at attention to detail.
I don't see
any other teams here.
I think we're in first place.
[exclaims]
Although, I think Brett and Mark
are probably right behind us.
-Yeah, there they are.
-MARK: They're over there.
Let's go.
Go that way. That way.
BOTH: Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
BRETT:
Do you think it's a water thing?
-Let's just have you do it.
-Okay.
JACK:
"Choose one of the surfboards
from the marked rack."
I'm gonna choose orange.
"Search among the surfers
floating on surfboards."
-Look at all those people.
-I know, all those people.
JACK:
Okay.
Hey.
BRETT:
Carson and Jack
are already there.
And Carson and Jack have been
at the top of the pack.
They're a strong team.
And I grew up near the ocean.
Yeah, I've surfed a lot.
So just a big opportunity
to get ahead of them.
BRETT:
Okay. Orange.
Jack just said
he picked the orange one,
so I'm a little concerned
that he's now
-MARK: He's going for orange?
-He's going for orange.
CARSON:
I think it only has
to do with the symbol.
MARK:
The decal. Yeah.
Nice and easy.
JACK:
After the rice challenge,
my back is so sore.
I was like [groaning]
I was having no fun.
Every thought was like,
"I'm not right for this."
[groans]
I think I like
"Island." This is the one.
SCOTT:
Yup. I want to check
after you tie that.
Oh, I like that. Thank you.
You're like my
surgical assistant in the ER.
-Yeah, baby.
-Teamwork makes the dream work.
-Yes, check, please?
-Check.
SCOTT:
Marine biologist, sir.
Thank you.
[Lori sighs]
No?
-Okay, let's go look.
-Okay.
So, up from the purple tips
is this light
brown one.
Purple tips.
Then this goes up
from the brown. This goes here.
A lot of work undone,
but that's okay. We just
It's not the end of the world.
We got this.
What are you doing, exactly?
Will you let go? Can you let go?
-It's gonna fall.
-Can you let go?
-Okay.
-Thank you.
-Just don't touch it.
-Okay.
JONATHAN:
I'm getting kind of tired
of this.
Thank you, sir.
Amazing. Let's go.
Twenty-nine.
Last one. Hold on.
-Ugh!
-Ugh!
Let's just start
from the bottom again.
Let's do some little ones
on the bottom
-so it's easier.
-That's what I said.
-Hold on.
-Twenty-nine in the middle.
-One more.
-One more.
ANA: Okay, we have 38.
Thirty. Check?
-Okay.
-Yes!
-Thank you.
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
-Oh, my God.
-Thank you.
-Thank you.
-Thank you so much.
Appreciate it.
-Oh, my God.
Mike, let's go,
let's do it, let's go. Move.
-Okay.
-Yay! Thank you.
Thank you. Terima kasih.
-We are the only
all-girl team left.
-Yeah.
-We got two girls here
and we crushed it.
-We did.
MELINDA:
Get our clue and get a taxi.
Yay!
ANA:
Come on, baby. We can do this.
If we do it one more time,
we don't have to go back, baby.
Get the bigger ones.
So as we're making trips
to the café, we see
teams just disappear.
I knew Lori and Scott
had already completed
their Coconut Detour.
I just thought, "Oh, my gosh,
they're gonna kill Coral Reef."
-Hopefully, this is it.
-My head is killing me, dude.
ANA:
I know. We're almost
out of the sun.
LORI:
The coral now
just looks the same.
I can't even
SCOTT:
Okay, we got this.
This is exactly right.
This is exactly right.
We're gonna pass this check.
-Check, please?
-Check?
-No? Okay.
-No?
I hate coral. I don't know
what to say about it.
SCOTT: Okay, check, please.
[laughs]
It's the only time
that I was like, "Oh, no.
"Something is definitely
going wrong right here."
Ugh!
Why is this so messed up?
Okay, honey, let's take
a breath. We got this.
We're never out
until Phil tells us.
-JONATHAN: How many do we have?
-ANA: I think we're good.
One, two, three,
four, five, six.
We're gonna stack 30 onto here,
and the rest just need
to be around it.
Delivery is complete.
-Thank you, my friend.
-Thank you very much.
Thank you so much. Rip it.
Thank you.
Oh.
BRETT:
The surfboard had a decal,
and you had
to match your sticker
with the other person's sticker.
That's so close.
There are a lot of decals
that are the same kind,
but different colors.
And the wave would come in,
and they'd move spots.
And I didn't want
to get it wrong.
So, let's keep going.
We're fighting for first place,
but honestly, when you're here
with Carson and Jack,
it feels like we're just on a
I don't know. It feels like
we're just frolicking.
It feels like we're just on
a little gay beach hanging out.
Oh, my God.
You.
Let's go.
I'll do it.
I want to meet my match.
MARK:
You got it, babe. You got this.
[sighs]
-Good job.
-MARK: Yeah.
-[clapping]
Oh, man. "Race to the Pit Stop."
"Make your way on foot
to the Taksu Art Stage
and search the perimeter
for Phil on the mat."
Teams will now race on foot
to the end of Nusa Dua Beach
and look for the Pit Stop
here at the end
of the peninsula.
After a grueling day in the sun
and the stress
of a Double U-Turn vote,
the last team to check in here
will be eliminated.
Let's just ask somebody.
I think I figured out
I need to match
my decal emblem.
And there were, like,
a hundred surfers,
and they were moving.
No.
And it's not ten feet apart,
and you could just run
to go check
someone else's decal.
You had to swim.
Aah!
It was really complicated.
This challenge
was hard, hard work.
Oh, my gosh.
All right, blue, let me see you.
But I'm a little slow.
Yes. Come with me.
JACK:
Okay.
[exclaims]
-Is Jack out there?
-I think that's
actually Jack, maybe.
-Oh, he's coming back?
-Look at him.
-He's, like, flapping.
-He's just he's chilling.
[groans]
JOSIAH:
Growing up
in Guanaja,
you have to know how to swim.
Our first swim lessons,
our dad would take us out
on a speedboat,
and he'd throw us
into the ocean,
and he would pick us up,
and he'd say, "Calm down!"
And he'd throw us back out.
And eventually,
I learned proper technique
of swimming,
and I've always loved swimming
ever since.
Good luck. [groans]
Okay.
Oh!
You got this!
-Yes.
-CARSON: Yes! Yes!
Thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you.
CARSON:
[whoops] You killed it, Jack.
You are king.
[groans]
-That was so hard.
-That's a far way to paddle.
-Race to the next Pit Stop.
-"Race to the Pit Stop."
-Did Brett and They left?
-They just left,
but they're right there.
It says 30 minutes by foot.
CARSON: Okay, yeah.
MARK:
It's got to be there.
We can get first place, babe.
JACK:
Did you see where
Brett and Mark went?
CARSON:
Um, no.
-MARK: Let's walk a little.
-Yeah.
JACK:
I feel like it's got to be this.
-Oh, sign. Sign.
-What?
CARSON:
Here. I see an arrow, Jack.
JACK:
Yeah, okay, okay. Yes.
[whoops]
Okay, we got this.
-[crowd clamoring]
-MARK: Yeah.
-Ah.
-And look behind you.
[singing upbeat song]
-Thank you.
-Terima kasih!
Thank you, guys. Thank you,
thank you, thank you.
Welcome to Nusa Dua Beach,
Bali, Indonesia.
-Yay! Thank you. Thank you.
-Thank you so much. Thank you.
-This is beautiful.
-WOMAN: Thank you.
Brett and Mark,
I am pleased to tell you
that you are team number one.
Yes!
-KEOGHAN: And I do have some
great news for you guys.
-Yay!
You have won $10,000,
$5,000 each, which you can enjoy
after the race.
-Congratulations.
-Ah.
Oh, thank you so much.
Pushing through the last
couple legs to just stay alive--
this was a fun way to,
like, really see
that what we have been doing
has been working.
Not a lot of people get
to come and make it this far,
-much less win a leg.
-Yeah.
MARK:
So, it's just super special.
[singing]
-[whooping]
-Yeah!
[exclaims]
Hey, Phil.
Carson and Jack,
I'm pleased to tell you,
you are in the top three.
You're, in fact,
team number two.
[cheering]
JACK:
We're definitely trying
to keep a low profile here.
Even though we've been kind of
doing really well
in this competition,
no one voted for us.
So we were like,
"Our strategy's working."
We see these teams
that come out way too strong,
and it puts a target
on their back.
Hi, everyone.
There's so many surfers
out there,
and they're all moving around.
And I swear, I thought
they were moving away from me.
JOSIAH:
I'm searching around,
searching around,
and I sit up and look around.
And I see the emblem.
-Okay. I'll meet the match.
-All right.
ALYSSA:
Yeah, Jos!
Way to go, babe. Way to go.
Good job, babe.
JEFF:
Honestly,
this would have been a Roadblock
that I would have done,
but I know
Pop's a great swimmer.
I hope that he sees exactly
what it is that he needs to do.
-Okay.
-Okay [whoops]
Ah. Thank you.
Now we take this with the bike.
-I got this.
-Ow. My head is killing me.
ANA:
By the time
we finished the Coconut Detour,
we don't see anybody else.
I feel pretty crummy.
But anything could still happen.
-Come on, babe. Let's go.
-Shouldn't untie that.
ANA:
We're so close.
Stay with me, babe.
Come on, baby.
JONATHAN: It was just
very upsetting knowing
that I would have
to fight for my life.
I had reached my personal limit,
uh, as far as sun exposure
and heat exposure goes.
My body was starting
to break down.
It was just too much for me.
Come on, babe.
Stay with me, babe.
[sighs]
Oh, boy.
His patience level is not
as high sometimes.
And when he loses hope, I think
it breaks him down a bit.
Babe, we got to go.
Come on, baby.
Okay, give him a minute.
Sometimes you just got
to have a little bit of hope
to get you through
The Amazing Race.
Come on, baby. I got this.
-Brown.
-I say that's green.
SCOTT:
Okay, let's change that
back to green.
So, green and brown.
So, that's brown.
Let's change this to green.
-This is the green one.
-Okay.
Let's get a better
green one, maybe.
SCOTT:
Jonathan and Ana, coming back.
LORI:
We saw Jonathan and Ana,
so we knew we were, like,
-on their heels.
-We're close.
-Hey, check?
-Good.
-Ah! Thank you.
-Thank you. Thank you.
-Terima kasih.
-JONATHAN: Thank you.
Thank you.
Let's go, baby.
SCOTT:
Let's go!
"Both of you must enter
the water.
Place it anywhere
beyond the orange buoys."
[Lori yelps]
[whooping]
Got this!
LORI:
Nice job. Nice job.
Come on, we've always talked
about how you never know
what's gonna happen.
You said this multiple times
when you watched the show.
Anyone could mess up
at any given moment,
-and that's our chance
to take their spot.
-Can you be quiet?
I have a headache.
Can you be quiet?
-I know, but I need you to jog.
-No, I have a headache.
-I can't run with a headache.
-I understand.
Can you be quiet, please?
Thank you very much.
Scott, we got to go. Come on!
Let's go, Pops! You got it.
All right, all right.
JEFF:
You can do this, Pops!
I'm yelling,
"Pops, you can do this!"
And then I look over, and
I realize he's with his person.
So, Pops handled it.
Superman!
Uh-huh. Whoa.
-All right.
-JEFF: Yeah!
-POPS: Perfect. Perfect.
-That's what I'm talking about.
-I knew you had it.
-[laughs]
-I got it.
-Oh, look. I see "surfboard."
"Paddle out and search
for the surfboard
with the decal that matches the
decal on your surfboard." Okay.
You got this. There's a needle
in the haystack,
-and it's surfing. You got this.
-And it's surfing. All right.
HAN:
I fell into surfing
for the past two years,
and it's, like, the one thing
that keeps me sane.
Do this one.
This was a Roadblock in heaven.
Best day ever.
HOLDEN:
It's the race.
Good vibes only.
We're on the beach.
[singing]
ALYSSA:
I mean, we're feeling good.
We're in Bali.
We got our mojo back.
Well, you're not
number one today,
-but you know where you're at?
-I think three?
-Three?
-That's right.
-Top three.
We said today we wanted
to be back in the top three.
HAN:
I'm trying to match my surfboard
with the surfboards
that were out between the buoys,
but there's something
that I'm missing.
I'm looking
for probably five minutes.
And I saw the sticker
on my surfboard,
and I was like, "Oh."
I found my guy.
And then I saw that
there was a wave coming,
and I just decided to catch it.
It was pretty sick.
-Good job.
-Thank you.
-HOLDEN: Let's go.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
You.
NICK: Because my eye
was still bothering me,
we figured
it was more detail-oriented,
and maybe Mike should do it.
I have no doubt
he's gonna crush it.
MIKE:
I didn't have
the range of motion,
and I couldn't really
use my legs.
It took me a pretty long time
to swim out.
There was a bunch of surfers
just chilling out there.
I started right
crossed all the way left.
I checked almost
every surfboard there, I think.
I was so tired, I was
laying my head
on the surfboard just like,
"I need to take a quick break,
'cause this is exhausting."
Oh, yeah.
[singing]
KEOGHAN: Pops and Jeff,
you are team number four.
No.
Can I see?
-NICK: Good job, Mike. Good job.
-Thank you. Thank you very much.
Oh, you did great.
You got it, you got it.
Stand up. You're good.
Great job. Great job.
Great job. Let's go.
Come on. Let's go.
Roadblock.
"Who wants to meet their match?"
-I do. You're too tired.
-I'm too tired.
In reality,
we really wanted my mom
to take the Roadblock
on this leg of the race.
-Let's do it.
So where do I go, Mom?
-Down here.
ERIKA:
But with the
exhaustion that she was feeling,
I was doing it
-no matter what it was.
-I just couldn't.
Oh, this feels so freaking nice.
[singing]
Han and Holden,
I am pleased to tell you
that you are team number five.
Hi.
Same decal?
Let me see your decal.
All right, let's do it.
The very first surfboard
I swam up to was my decal.
Such a blessing.
These are going in.
There's some water pushing me.
Good job, Erika.
-Okay.
-Thank you. Thank you.
You killed it.
She saved us.
"Last team to check in
will be eliminated."
MIKE:
What do you think?
-Here? You sure?
-Yeah.
-You sure?
-Yes.
I don't know
exactly where it is.
I know it's this way, though.
There are still teams.
There--
Nick And Mike were still there.
-How quickly did they leave?
-They left right when you
Nick
Mike was changing when you
Oh, perfect.
This thing's a resort, bro.
This is not the state.
NICK:
You want to do your
due diligence the other way.
Let's do it this way, right?
Let's turn this corner to see.
MIKE:
This isn't it.
ERIKA:
See those big trees
where the opening is? Yep.
-MELINDA: To the right?
-ERIKA: Yeah.
NICK:
Mike, I see an arrow.
[singing]
Way to go.
Melinda and Erika,
I am pleased to tell you
-that you will be racing
-Yay!
in the next leg.
-You're team number six.
-Six?
-KEOGHAN: Yes.
-Six?
-We're six?
You're six. Yes.
-How did we get six?
-How did we get six?
Ooh. We only saw two teams
behind us. There's three?
KEOGHAN:
Well, they're
right behind you now.
-Good job, you guys.
-Good job, guys.
KEOGHAN:
Oh, here we go. Here we go.
Melinda and Erika, I'm gonna
let you tell this team
where they are.
-You guys are team number seven.
-[whooping]
[whoops] We've moved up one.
-[Melinda whoops]
-Yeah.
Lucky number seven.
Lucky number seven.
Now, you did
get a vote this morning.
Unfortunately for them,
we're still alive,
and their target
just got even bigger,
and, uh, they're behind us now,
so karma is, uh,
a you-know-what.
[laughing]
JONATHAN:
"Who wants to meet their match?"
ANA: Okay.
JONATHAN:
"Paddle out and search
for the surfboard."
Do you know
where the yellow buoys are?
Nah? Nothing?
SCOTT: Roadblock.
-If it's surfing, it's not me.
-Okay, I'll go.
Here.
Read that, just in case.
Oh, my gosh.
Lori and Scott.
No experience surfing, tons
of experience boogie boarding.
Oh, gosh.
LORI:
You got this! [ululates]
LORI:
We're not
surfers, per se.
We boogie-board quite a bit.
So I'm sure
he's gonna be just fine.
Let's go, babe!
You got this!
Looks like Jonathan
just made his way
to where the other surfers
are at.
I'm literally praying
at this point. [laughs]
SCOTT:
I'm about two-thirds
of the way out
when I start seeing Jonathan, so
I know I'm not too far behind.
SCOTT:
He seemed like
he was struggling,
so I'm like, "Dig deep!"
Come on, baby.
JONATHAN: My body was
starting to break down,
my head was starting to hurt,
and we still had this task
to tackle.
It's really stressful
when he breaks down
because I feel like
I have to be the strong one,
and I-I know how to support him.
It's really difficult sometimes
'cause I know
he really wants to be here.
We lost a baby last year,
and we came to celebrate life.
So when it doesn't feel Like
a celebration, it's a bummer.
But I'm happy
that he's out there
still trying. So I just hope
he can pull through.
If you think
you have what it takes
to be on The Amazing Race,
then go to cbs.com/casting
and apply now.
LORI: It's Jonathan and Scott
in tie for last place.
So, hopefully,
Scott can maneuver
through those surfboards
and find the match and get
out of here as fast as we can.
Scott, it's out there. Come on!
JONATHAN:
Oh, man.
I could feel
my headache flare up,
and I was trying
to push through it
and just get close enough
to where I can kind of,
like, lean up
and see the logo.
That seemed to work pretty well.
Now I just have
to get back to the shore.
Just need a break.
LORI:
Let's go, Scott!
[whooping]
You got this, babe!
SCOTT:
Like, checking as many boards
as I possibly can.
I see a lot of them, noses up.
I can see
it's not those, it's not those.
Finally, I see the sticker.
We start
beelining it back in.
Oh.
ANA:
I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what's happening.
He's not paddling anymore.
I know he's exhausted.
You're almost there, babe!
Scott's still out there!
Come on!
He's just taking breaks
in between paddles.
Whoa, Nellie.
This race is so close.
ANA:
Baby, you got this!
LORI:
Oh, shoot.
He just got the clue.
which is good.
Good for him, good for him.
Baby, let's get the clue.
Oh, my God.
Just give him a moment.
Just give him a moment.
"Race to the Pit Stop."
Come on, baby.
Good job.
Love you guys.
Scott is out there
fighting hard.
We're not giving up.
Not till Phil says.
We're gonna still keep fighting.
You got this, honey!
I'm so proud of you!
You're awesome!
Yes.
Jonathan and Ana just left.
We have this, honey.
ANA:
Come on. Babe, we got to run.
You understand?
-LORI: I just
saw them leave, honey.
-Okay.
JONATHAN:
I got to put my shoes on.
ANA:
Do you see where they're at?
Come on, baby.
LORI:
Did you see the art stage?
You know where we're going?
SCOTT:
I have an idea.
JONATHAN:
I don't see anything.
Oh, I see a marker.
ANA:
Where?
-JONATHAN: Go right.
-Where?
Oh, thank God.
-LORI: Oh, I see it. Come on.
-Where?
LORI:
I see it, honey.
-ANA: Come on, baby.
-Can you not say that again?
-That's gonna really
irritate me, hearing that.
-Okay.
-ANA: I don't know
what else to say.
-Just don't say that again.
[singing]
[laughs]
Welcome to Nusa Dua Beach,
Bali, Indonesia.
-Thank you.
-Thanks.
-Jonathan, Ana.
-[Ana sighs]
Tough way to start the day.
You survived it.
You are not
the last team to arrive.
You're team number eight.
-Congratulations.
-ANA: Thank you.
We knew we were
definitely a target, and, um
we expected it.
We just weren't ready for it.
[laughs]
I think
when the heat kicks in, I just
need to give him his space
and let him just
kind of work through it.
When I've been at my lowest,
he's been the one
that pushes me
and holds me and picks me up.
So
I need to be that for him, too,
when he needs me.
And I know that is today.
That was today.
I think what I take
from this leg is that
reality is never gonna
meet expectations.
I know, individually,
I can outcompete anybody here.
That was my expectation.
But this season of the race
is just so unpredictable,
and there's so many
twists and turns
and I don't think, uh,
it would have been possible
for me to win every leg
in this, uh,
this season.
This is just
not at all how I envisioned,
uh, my race going.
[singing]
LORI:
Phil!
[sighs]
[whoops]
-Scott and Lori,
just not your day today.
-Aah!
-Um
-LORI: Oh, my goodness.
-We really did not
see that coming.
-Not at all.
Not at all, no.
And I guess,
right now, in this moment,
as I tell you that you are
-the last team to arrive
-Yeah.
KEOGHAN: And I tell you
-that you have been eliminated.
-Oh, baby.
Right now, Scott, Lori,
this is a lesson,
also to your boys, in how
you move forward from here.
-Absolutely.
-Like, how you
-accept this.
-SCOTT: You know, I think
we realize that we bring out
the best in each other.
-Absolutely.
-We have the best team here.
And so, we got targeted
'cause we probably were the
best team in this season, so
LORI:
We're sad.
We think we have
a little bit left to give.
SCOTT:
When our kids watch this,
they're gonna realize
their parents
did everything
they possibly could.
LORI:
We gave it our all.
We had so much fun,
and it was such
a great adventure
that we'll remember forever.
I could not have run this race
with a better partner.
We're better together
than we are apart.
Yeah. I wouldn't have chosen
anybody else
to do this race with.
-Love you.
-Love you.
CBS
and TOYOTA.

-[whooping]
-HAN: Holy crap.
We are on camels.
KEOGHAN:
teams dive into Dubai.
-I see it. I see it.
-Aah!
KEOGHAN: And the competition
revs up
-[whooping]
-Wow.
KEOGHAN: with an ending
you won't want to miss.
We're in a literal footrace
right now.
Oh, man. Man!
